Indian Grandmaster D. Gukesh made history on Thursday by becoming the youngest world chess champion at the age of 18, after defeating reigning title-holder Ding Liren of China in the 14th and final game of an exciting match in Singapore.

Gukesh secured the required 7.5 points, surpassing Liren’s 6.5, by winning the final classical time control game in a match that had appeared likely to end in a draw for most of its duration.

Prior to Gukesh’s achievement, the record for the youngest world chess champion was held by the legendary Garry Kasparov of Russia, who claimed the title at 22 years old by defeating Anatoly Karpov in 1985.

Gukesh entered the match as the youngest-ever challenger for the world title, having secured his spot by winning the Candidates tournament earlier this year. He is now the second Indian after the legendary Viswanathan Anand to claim the global title. Anand, a five-time world champion, last won the crown in 2013.

After shaking hands with his opponent Ding, Gukesh was visibly emotional, shedding tears. A video capturing the moment has since gone viral on social media.

These include a divided White Tower, the escape of the Black Ajah, and the return of ancient enemies to the Two Rivers. Meanwhile, the Forsaken, led by the formidable Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), relentlessly pursue Rand. As his past unravels and his powers become increasingly unstable, Moiraine and Egwene are united by a shared mission: to prevent Rand from succumbing to the Shadow, no matter the personal cost.

Pakistan: Minister Calls Incident Of Man Pushed From Container “Completely Fine” | Watch

December 1, 2024, 12:27 am

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed on Saturday that the man seen in a viral video falling from a container during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad is “completely fine.”

In a media briefing, Tarar explained that the man had sustained only minor injuries in the incident, as reported by Dawn.

The video, captured during the protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, shows individuals dressed as security personnel in riot gear pushing a man off a stack of three shipping containers.

The PTI supporters were protesting for the release of their leader and party chief, Imran Khan.

The protests, which turned violent on November 26, saw PTI supporters confronted with heavy tear gas shelling from security forces.

Refuting the claims circulating on social media, Minister Tarar stated, “Propaganda was spread that a person offering prayers was killed by being pushed down. He is a resident of Mandi Bahauddin and is completely fine. His video has emerged; he sustained an arm injury and has bandages.”

Tarar further clarified that the man was recording a TikTok video as part of a challenge with a friend, not offering prayers, as reported by Dawn.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) President Aimal Wali Khan called for a ban on political parties that incite violence, including PTI, according to Dawn.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the ANP central secretariat in Wali Bagh on Friday, Khan criticized PTI for its approach, saying the party has been working in an undemocratic and non-political manner since its inception and has consistently encouraged violent behavior.

He referred to PTI as “waste that should be disposed of” and remarked that the state had imposed PTI on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the past 12 years, but such decisions had not yielded positive results, as reported by Dawn.

October 21, 2024, 1:38 am

Residents of Rohini reported that the vibrations from the blast were felt hundreds of meters away, and locals noted a “chemical-like” smell at the site.

Some initially believed it was a firecracker, while others suspected that an LPG cylinder had exploded.

“It wasn’t like a firecracker, the sound was incredibly loud. And for 15-20 minutes, there was just smoke everywhere,” said Kiran Sachdeva, a resident of the locality.

Sachdeva, in her 60s, described the blast as an “earthquake-like” shock, noting that her house was about 200-250 meters away from the site.

Himanshu Kohli, a shopkeeper, recounted that when he heard the blast, he ran towards the area. He stated that white smoke filled the air and a strong, chemical-like smell emanated from the site.

“Glass windows and boards were broken. I got scared and returned to my shop,” Kohli said.

Anita Singh had just returned from the temple when she heard the “very loud explosion.”

“I felt the vibrations in my house. It felt like someone’s cylinder had exploded nearby. My children’s school bus comes here and usually, we stand at this (near the school) gate in the morning. But since today was Sunday, nobody got hurt. I shudder to think about how big a disaster it could have been if it had happened during the weekdays,” she said.

Meanwhile, the police suspect that the blast may have been carried out using a crude bomb. Investigative agencies have also discovered a white powder believed to have been used in the bomb’s preparation, which they suggest could be a mixture of ammonium nitrate and chloride.

“There was a foul smell of chemicals after the blast. Residents and police officials who rushed there also felt the same. Our teams are investigating the entire matter,” a senior police officer told PTI.

Some community notes on X suggested that the incident was a hoax, given the tight security at the hotel and the police shutting down the surrounding streets.

“Palestine protestors manufactured chaos at the Watergate Hotel last night so that Netanyahu, Israeli Mossad agents, and the Secret Service had no peace as they continue to terrorize our people. Mealworms and maggots (not talking about Netanyahu) were left on their banquet tables, and crickets were released on multiple floors of the hotel. Fire alarms were triggered for over 30 minutes on multiple floors to ensure that there will be no rest before Netanyahu and Congress disgrace themselves in front of the world for failing to achieve any of their military and political objectives. May their dreams be haunted by the death of our people and decay of their society.” the Instagram post of the same video

In a heart-stopping moment captured on video, a 2-year-old toddler had an unexpected encounter with a giraffe at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas, USA.

The incident occurred while 2-year-old Paisley, accompanied by her parents, Jason and Sierra Toten, was visiting the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, known for its drive-thru safari experience. As Paisley attempted to feed the giraffe from the bed of a truck, the giraffe, eager for a snack, inadvertently seized her shirt, briefly lifting her skyward before releasing her into her mother’s arms.

Fortunately, Paisley emerged from the encounter unharmed, but the incident has sparked safety concerns among visitors and wildlife enthusiasts. A spokesperson for the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center emphasized the institution’s commitment to guest and animal safety, stating, “The safety of our guests and animals is always of utmost importance to us.” They further assured that immediate action would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The incident has prompted discussions about park safety protocols and visitor guidelines. Comments from social media users reflected concerns about Paisley’s safety, with some questioning the decision to allow a toddler to ride in the open bed of a truck during the safari experience. Others emphasized the importance of adhering to park rules and ensuring proper safety measures, such as using car seats for young children.
