</excerpt>

In a shocking turn of events, a former vice president at a U.S. company was laid off despite receiving positive performance reviews and recent accolades. The employee, who had been with the company for 1.5 years, shared his experience on Reddit, highlighting the emotional turmoil following his termination.

A Promising Career Cut Short

The ex-Vice president detailed his situation, stating he had received a significant raise and a 25% bonus during his most recent performance review in March. However, just a week before his layoff, he was approached by the company’s CEO and COO, who informed him that his position was being eliminated as part of cost-cutting measures. He was offered 10 weeks of severance pay but was left feeling confused and betrayed by the sudden decision.

HAVE A LOOK AT THE VIRAL POST:

Was laid off and I feel embarrassed and angry

The Discovery of Replacement

His frustration grew when he discovered on LinkedIn that his role had already been filled by someone else with the same title. “I never missed a single deadline, I was reliable, and I did whatever was asked of me,” he expressed, emphasizing his dedication to the job. Despite taking on increased responsibilities, he maintained a positive performance record, making the abrupt termination even more disheartening.

Reactions from the Online Community

Sharing his experience on Reddit, the former Vice president conveyed feelings of anger and embarrassment, particularly noting that he felt misled by the company’s leadership. The Reddit community responded with a mix of sympathy and speculation, with some users suggesting that his dismissal might have been driven by cost-saving measures rather than personal performance.

One user recounted a similar experience where a co-worker was also laid off and replaced shortly after, while others questioned the decision-making processes of companies during uncertain economic times. Comments ranged from surprise at the lack of respect shown to higher-ups to suggestions that the company may have been looking to hire someone for less money.

This incident highlights the often unpredictable nature of corporate decisions and the emotional toll they can take on dedicated employees. As more professionals navigate uncertain job markets, the importance of transparency and communication in corporate environments has never been clearer.

</excerpt>

A fair organised by the Hindu Adhyatmik and Seva Foundation was inaugurated by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar along with Jagatguru Nimbarkacharya Shyam Sharan Devacharya, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Swami Chidanand Saraswati and Dr Chinmay Pandya. The fair, which is being held for the fourth time in Jaipur, aims to provide information about the service work being done by the monastery, temples and social organisations of the Hindu society and an opportunity to join them. In his inaugural address at the Hindu Spiritual and Seva Mela 2024, the vice president addressed pressing issues facing society today, emphasising the core values of Indian culture and the principles enshrined in the Constitution.
He expressed concern over the troubling rise of religious conversions, stating, “We are witnessing very painful religious conversions in a structured manner as a policy, which is antithetical to our values and constitutional premises.”
Highlighting the inclusive nature of Hinduism, he remarked, “The Hindu religion is quintessentially inclusive in the true sense; it extends to all living beings on the planet.”
He further emphasised that the essence of Indian culture lies in “spending life in the service of others,” calling this the fundamental mantra of the society.
Talking about the spirit and compassion of the Hindu society, the vice president said that the spirit of service remains vibrant within Hindu society, asserting, “Even today, the spirit of service is strongly present in Hindu society.”
He praised the collective resilience of Indian society, stating, “Indian society handholds in distress at the cost of one’s stress.”
Through these reflections, the vice president expressed the enduring values of compassion and service that define Indian culture, calling for a commitment to uphold these principles in contemporary challenges.
Addressing ongoing national and international discussions, the vice president challenged the notion that only 40% of Indians engage in public service, asserting that the figure is much higher. He celebrated the Vedic culture of inclusivity, which transcends boundaries and emphasizes the welfare of all living beings.
He pointed out that the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution are reflective of Sanatan Dharma, advocating for a path of inclusivity and humanity.
“Sanatan Dharma is the essence of our Constitution,” he stated, calling it crucial for addressing current global challenges, particularly climate change.
The vice president noted that India is leading the way in promoting sustainable practices and urged a return to the philosophical teachings of Sanatan to combat climate change.
He also addressed the issue of religious conversion, describing it as a systematic and dangerous trend that threatens India’s unity. He warned against efforts to target vulnerable communities, particularly among tribal populations, and called for vigilance and proactive measures to counter such threats.

In closing, he expressed concern over rising narratives that undermine Indian nationalism and democracy, urging unity and patriotism in the face of challenges.
Sadhvi Ritambhara emphasised, “It’s important to keep both, our minds and our surroundings clean.”
She remarked, “We should instruct others to dispose of waste properly, advising against throwing household garbage in front of neighbours.

Chidanand Saraswati said that while Sanatan is respected worldwide, some individuals from India travel abroad to question its values, which he deemed completely inappropriate. He stressed that Sanatan is inclusive and embraces everyone. He added that during the Covid-19 pandemic, all nations provided free vaccines, he noted, and asserted that now is not the time for isolation, as the RSS is working toward unity along these lines.

</excerpt>

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to reveal her choice for vice presidential running mate by Tuesday. This announcement follows interviews held over the weekend with leading candidates at her Washington residence.

Key Candidates

Harris interviewed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, U.S. Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. Other contenders include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

Upcoming Tour

Harris and her new running mate will embark on a five-day tour across seven key battleground states. The tour includes stops in Philadelphia, Eau Claire, Detroit, Durham, Savannah, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, with rallies planned at college campuses, historically Black universities, union halls, and local restaurants.

Campaign Strategy

The Harris campaign has launched a new initiative called “Republicans for Harris,” aiming to attract Republican voters. The campaign also highlights endorsements from former Trump officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye.

Union Support

On Monday, Harris secured another union endorsement, with the hospitality workers union praising her for her strong record with labor issues.

</excerpt>

With President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, a Democratic ticket led by Vice President Kamala Harris is becoming increasingly plausible. Biden has endorsed Harris, praising his decision to choose her as his running mate in 2020 as one of his best. This endorsement has prompted a flurry of high-profile Democrats to support Harris, and speculation about potential vice-presidential candidates is heating up.

Several notable figures are being considered for the vice-presidential slot:

Andy Beshear, the Democratic governor of Kentucky, stands out due to his leadership in a state that heavily supports Trump. Beshear’s vetoes on controversial issues, such as abortion and gender-affirming care for minors, contrast with Republican policies. He has publicly supported Harris and criticized Trump’s potential running mate, JD Vance.

Mark Kelly, the Arizona senator and former astronaut, offers significant appeal with his moderate stance and experience as a combat veteran. Kelly’s advocacy for gun reform, spurred by the shooting of his wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, resonates with independent voters. He has voiced strong support for Harris on social media.

Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, has gained attention for his bipartisan appeal and effective governance in a crucial swing state. Shapiro, who endorsed Harris, is known for his work as attorney general and governor, and has earned notable bipartisan support in Pennsylvania.

Roy Cooper, the governor of North Carolina, has a long record of bipartisan achievements and has been a vocal supporter of Harris. Although Cooper’s term as governor is ending due to term limits, he has endorsed Harris while emphasizing her campaign’s focus.

Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is another prominent figure under consideration. Buttigieg’s rapid rise in politics and his experience managing the transportation sector during challenging times add to his profile, though he has not been actively discussed in recent endorsements.

Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, who many hoped would run for president herself, has also been mentioned as a possible vice-presidential pick. Whitmer, known for her successful governance and strong backing of Biden before his withdrawal, has dismissed the idea of joining Harris on the ticket, emphasizing her dedication to Michigan.

Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland, is a rising star in the Democratic party and the only Black governor in the U.S. Despite some speculation about him as a running mate, Moore has expressed a desire to remain in his current role, stating his commitment to Maryland’s progress.

As the Democratic party aligns behind Harris, her choice of a running mate will be a pivotal decision as she prepares to campaign for the presidency.

</excerpt>

Donald Trump has chosen JD Vance, the junior senator from Ohio and author of the bestselling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy”, as his running mate in the presidential race. This announcement, made on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, highlights Vance’s remarkable political transformation over recent years.

Once a vocal critic of Trump, Vance had previously referred to him as “America’s Hitler” and “a total fraud.” However, Vance’s perspective shifted as he pursued a Senate seat in 2022, ultimately gaining Trump’s endorsement in a competitive Republican primary. Trump’s support was pivotal for Vance’s campaign, with Trump acknowledging Vance’s previous criticisms but still endorsing him.

Vance rose to prominence in 2016 with the publication of “Hillbilly Elegy”, which detailed his upbringing in southwestern Ohio and his journey to Yale Law School. The memoir, which was later adapted into a 2020 film starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams, provided insights into the lives of Americans affected by poverty and drug addiction, resonating with many who felt marginalized in the political landscape.

Following Trump’s 2016 victory, Vance became a notable conservative voice, often explaining Trump’s political appeal to puzzled audiences. Initially seen as an anti-Trump Republican, Vance’s stance shifted significantly when he entered the Senate race. He campaigned on hard-right proposals, including completing the US-Mexico border wall, and was accused of endorsing the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, which he suggested Democrats were using to change the electorate through immigration.

Vance’s campaign tactics proved successful, and he defeated Democrat Tim Ryan by six points in the 2022 election. Since joining Congress, Vance has been a staunch supporter of Trump. Following an assassination attempt on Trump, Vance accused Joe Biden of inciting the attack, stating that Biden’s rhetoric contributed directly to the incident.

As Trump’s running mate, Vance will have a broader platform to advocate for his and Trump’s political views, further solidifying his role within the Republican Party.

</excerpt>

Prior to his forthcoming debates with US President Joe Biden, GOP leader Donald Trump revealed on Thursday that he might announce his vice-presidential pick at the Republican National Convention in July.

In an interview with Charles Benson from Scripps News, Trump was questioned about the likelihood of announcing his running mate at the convention in Milwaukee.

Responding to this, the former president said: “That’s probably a pretty good chance, I would say.”

While he said he is not committing it “100 percent”, but added, “you’re getting pretty close. I’ll be doing it in Milwaukee, we’ll be — we’re gonna have a great time.”

This announcement follows Trump’s acceptance to face debate challenges issued by Biden. The first debate is scheduled to be hosted by CNN in June, and another by ABC News in September. However, both debates will occur without live audiences.

Trump refers to Milwaukee as a “Crucial State”

The Republican National Convention is scheduled to take place from July 15-18 in Milwaukee. “With tens of thousands traveling from around the country, it is our goal to showcase the vibrant, energetic, world-class city that is Milwaukee, Wisconsin,” the Republican National Committee said.

Calling Milwaukee a “very crucial state”, Trump said, “We are bringing the convention to Milwaukee and we must win Wisconsin.”

Speculation is growing about who the presumptive Republican nominee will choose as his vice-presidential candidate. Several individuals who ran against Trump in the GOP’s presidential primary this year are being considered, including North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.

Other potential candidates include Representative Elise Stefanik of New York, Senators JD Vance of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida, as well as Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was once a leading contender, but her chances diminished after she admitted to killing her own puppy and a family goat. Despite this, Trump has described her story as “tough” and praised her as a “terrific” person.

Earlier this week, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who endorsed Trump after exiting the presidential race, announced that he would accept an offer to be Trump’s running mate.

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign announced that Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CBS News to debate Trump’s vice-presidential nominee this summer.

Harris’ team informed the network that she is available to debate in-studio on either Tuesday, July 23, or Tuesday, August 13, and asked the Trump campaign to choose one of the dates. The Trump campaign has not yet responded to the debate invitation.

Jagdeep Dhankar, Vice President on Sunday participated in the 17th East Asia Summit in Phnom Penh , Cambodia. Dhankar and his wife Sudesh Dhankar arrived on a three-day visit to Cambodia on November 11.

Alongside the 17th East Asia Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Jagdeep Dhankhar also met US President Joe Biden. It is important to note that Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, did not go to the East Asia Summit. Despite getting an invitation from the host Indonesia to the G20 leaders’ conference slated for next week, he is not certain to go.

Notably, the East Asia Summit includes eight dialogue partners—India, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Russia—as well as ASEAN member states Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

The premier venue for strategic discussion in the Indo-Pacific is the East Asia Summit (EAS). It is the only forum led by leaders where all significant Indo-Pacific partners gather to discuss the political, security, and economic issues that the region is currently facing, and it has a significant impact on fostering tighter regional cooperation.

The annual Leaders’ Summit, which often takes place in conjunction with ASEAN Leaders meetings in the fourth quarter of every year, is the culmination of the EAS calendar, according to a statement provided by the Australian government. Leaders also make statements on current events to demonstrate political will for shaping policy responses and to establish a foundation for collaboration.

In addition to the Leaders Summit, the EAS Foreign Ministers and Economic Ministers convene annually.

Meetings between EAS Environment, Energy and Education Ministers are also held from time to time. Almost entirely as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the 16th East Asia Summit took place on October 27, 2021. Dhankhar took part in the 19th ASEAN-India Summit earlier on November 12 in Phnom Penh.

The ASEAN-India Summit is notable for celebrating the 30th anniversary of dialogue relations between the two nations. In Phnom Penh, Vice President Dhankhar met with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia. The “wide-ranging” discussions between the two leaders included a variety of topics, including de-mining, human resources, and development initiatives.

In Phnom Penh, Dhankhar and Hun Sen were present when four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged between India and Cambodia in the fields of culture, wildlife, and health. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attended a gathering for the Indian community on November 11 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Speaking on the occasion, VP Dhankhar remarked, “We think of Cambodia as our civilizational sister and extended family, just as we think of Cambodia as the respected land of Lord Buddha.” In Phnom Penh’s Chakto Mukh Conference Hall, Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar attended the painting exhibition of the ASEAN-India Artists Group.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the state’s ruling party, has said that it will endorse Margaret Alva, the joint opposition’s candidate for vice president of India, in the elections scheduled for August 6.

JMM chief Shibu Soren said in a letter to party MP, “As you are aware, Mrs. Margaret Alva is the opposition’s candidate for the office of vice president of India. After due consideration, the party has decided to vote for her in the V-P polls.”

Taking to Twitter, Alva expressed gratitude, saying “Thank the leaders and the MPs of the JMM for their support in the Vice President’s election on August 6th.”

The vice president is chosen by a vote cast only by members of Parliament, whereas the president is chosen by MPs and representatives from state legislatures. Political parties cannot issue a “whip” in any scenario, meaning that an elector may cast a ballot for a candidate other than the one preferred by his or her party. The method of a single transferable vote is adopted for the polls.

Additionally, it should be noted that the JMM endorsed Droupadi Murmu, the incumbent President, in the July 18 presidential election despite the fact that it is an opposition party to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is in power.

The vice president candidate, Alva, will contest against Jagdeep Dhankar. The BJP alone has enough strength in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to guarantee Dhankhar’s victory.

The ruling party chief JP Nadda on Sunday urged all the political parties, including UPA allies, to hold up for the National Democratic Alliance’s candidate Jagdeep Dhankar for the post of Vice President.

He stated, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are all walking with the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and it has been our endeavour to include the poor, deprived, exploited Dalit, tribals who are standing at the last rung in the society to the mainstream and strengthen them. Keeping this in mind, we have selected a tribal woman as the presidential candidate.”

Nadda further expressed admiration for the ‘kissan putra’, appreciating his contribution to the nation in the last three decades. He talked about his humble background and said, “Now we have a farmer’s son, a person who has come out of a simple family and facing socio-economic difficulties, a farmer son has advanced himself as a professional as the first generation and as an able administrator and even as a capable politician, he also served the country in different capacities for three decade.”

The announcement of the vice presidential candidate was made on Saturday after a meeting of the parliamentary board at the BJP headquarters. Today, the nomination would be filled by Dhankar.

Dhankar comes from a small agrestic family in the Jhumjhunu district of Rajshtan. He received his primary education from Sanik School, Chittorgarh.

After getting a degree in Physics, he pursued an LLB from Rajasthan University. He has been a practitioner in the Rajasthan High Court as well as the apex Court of India. He was elected a member of Parliament from the Jhumjhunu district in 1989. He was also the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in 1990. In 1993, he was elected to the Rajasthan Assembly from the Kishangarh constituency in Ajmer district. He served as the Governor of West Bengal in 2019.

The tenure of the current Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu, ends on August 10th, 2022. The nation is all set to honour the 16th Vice President thereafter.
