Uttarakhand CM Dhami Visits Chamoli Village, Extends Support To Orphans

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stepped in to support three orphaned children from Khainuri village in Chamoli district, who have been struggling since the loss of their parents. According to a press release from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Chief Minister arranged for essential supplies and sustenance for the children through the district administration.

Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, a team from the Chamoli district administration visited Khainuri village on Sunday to assess the children’s needs. The team provided them with blankets, warm clothing, fruits, and nutritional items. They also evaluated the children’s living conditions, including housing and sanitation facilities, and assured continued assistance, as stated in the press release.

The children’s father, Nain Singh, passed away in October due to illness, while their mother, Kusum Devi, died in 2020. This left the three siblings—daughters Sanjana and Sakshi, and son Ayush—in a challenging situation. Although local support was extended by Gram Pradhan Virendra Singh and other villagers, the absence of their parents plunged the children into financial hardship, the release noted.

Moved by their plight, the Chief Minister directed immediate action to provide relief. Blankets and warm clothes were supplied to protect the children from the cold, along with fruits and other essentials to ensure adequate nutrition. The administrative team also pledged ongoing government support to secure the children’s well-being.

Chief Minister Dhami reaffirmed his commitment to the children’s future, emphasizing that the state government would make every necessary arrangement to ensure their welfare. “The state is dedicated to creating a bright future for these children,” he stated. The story of these three siblings, marked by hardship, now carries a message of hope, thanks to the proactive efforts of the administration and the government, the press release concluded.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami attends Ex-servicemen’s gratitude event

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a gratitude and dialogue program organized by the Uttarakhand Ex-Servicemen Organisation at Doon Sainik Institute, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, on Sunday. The event saw brave women, along with officers and soldiers of the Ex-Servicemen Organisation, expressing their appreciation to the Chief Minister for his recent initiatives. These include increasing the ex-gratia grant for martyred soldiers from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, extending the application period for government jobs for the families of martyred soldiers from two years to five years, and providing appointments to the dependents of martyrs in various departments beyond just Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts in District Magistrate offices. Additionally, contract workers in the Sainik Welfare Department now receive benefits similar to Upanal employees.

During the event, the Chief Minister acknowledged the soldiers as guardians of both the Himalayas and the environment. He called on ex-servicemen to support the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaigns and announced the construction of a Sainik Vishram in Mussoorie. In recognition of their contributions, women participants honored the Chief Minister, who, in turn, honored them.

Dhami emphasized the state government’s commitment to providing employment in state services to one dependent of soldiers who die in war, based on their educational qualifications. So far, 17 dependents have been given jobs in state services. Uttarakhand is the only state that provides a lump sum annual amount for life to soldiers decorated with gallantry awards. The financial grants for those awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal have also been increased. Moreover, the monthly pension for ex-soldiers of the Second World War and war widows has been raised from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000.

The Chief Minister praised the Indian Army for its indomitable courage and bravery, highlighting the rich military tradition of Uttarakhand, often referred to as both Devbhoomi and Veerbhoomi. He noted that almost every family in the state has a military connection, and the soldiers and their families have made invaluable contributions to the nation. He also announced the upcoming inauguration of a grand military memorial in the state.

Dhami commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for consistently boosting the morale of the armed forces, whether by celebrating special occasions like Holi and Diwali with them or implementing initiatives like One Rank One Pension. He expressed pride in the Indian Army, whose efforts ensure the country’s safety, and highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of the third decade of the 21st century as the “decade of Uttarakhand.” The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to making Uttarakhand one of the leading states in the country.

He also mentioned that Uttarakhand has been ranked first in the Sustainable Development Goals by NITI Aayog and stressed the importance of maintaining this position while improving areas that need further development. Dhami condemned the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh, noting that while such incidents occur, many in India remain entangled in caste-based divisions. He called for collective reflection and mutual unity and urged ex-servicemen to contribute to the work of national awakening.

After the results were declared on Tuesday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his congratulations to the students of classes 10 and 12 from the UK Board.

CM Dhami expressed his belief that the students will bring honor to both the state and the nation in the future. In a post on X, Chief Minister Dhami wrote, “Hearty congratulations to all the students who passed the High School and Intermediate examinations of Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE). This is the result of your hard work and dedication. I have full faith that you will bring glory to the state and the country in the times to come.”

The Chief Minister also encouraged students who did not pass the exams, advising them that with hard work and dedication, they can strive for success again, emphasizing that examinations are not the sole measure of success in life.

On Tuesday, April 30, at 11:30 am, the Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) announced the results for Classes 10 and 12.

In the UBSE Class 10 examination of 2024, the overall pass rate stood at 89.14 percent, while for the Class 12 examination, it was 82.63 percent this year.

The offline UBSE 10th and 12th board exams were conducted in a single session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. between February 27 and March 16, 2024.

In Uttarakhand, a total of 1,15,606 students enrolled for Class 10 and 94,748 for Class 12, amounting to a combined total of 2,10,354 candidates.

Shirmoni Akali Dal chief meets Uttarakhand CM Dhami, raises two concerns pertaining to native Sikhs

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, was met on Sunday by a delegation headed by Sukhbir Singh Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal and a former deputy chief minister of Punjab. SAD’s public relations officer posted photos from the gathering. Badal paid Chief Minister Dhami a visit at his office in Dehradun, the state capital. After the meeting, Badal spoke with members of the media and said he had discussed two issues pertaining to Sikhs living in Uttarakhand.

“There were two main issues related to the Sikhs residing in Uttarakhand. One of these issues pertains to the identification of land at Gurudwara Gyan Godri.”
“The honourable CM assured that he will invite a Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) delegation for site selection. The second issue is related to farmers whose land got bifurcated after Uttarakhand was carved out as a separate state,” the former Punjab deputy CM told reporters.
He said CM Dhami assured the delegation that the issues raised would be addressed.
“CM Dhami assured that he will soon form a committee to address and resolve these issues,” Badal added.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Tribute Ceremony’ on Vijay Diwas at Martyr Memorial Gandhi Park, Dehradun. During the event, CM Dhami expressed pride in the historic victory of the Indian Army in 1971, leading to the surrender of 93,000 Pakistani soldiers. He also announced the upcoming implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, stating that the state aims to lead the country in implementing this law.

Vijay Diwas marks the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war against Pakistan, resulting in the creation of Bangladesh. On this day, various events and ceremonies are held across the country to honour the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought in the war.

In addition to Uttarakhand, soldiers and military officials from various states, including Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal, paid tributes to the fallen heroes of the 1971 war on Vijay Diwas. Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Update: Workers Under Observation, Medical Protocols in Place, Says DM

Following the successful rescue of 41 workers trapped inside Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela stressed on Wednesday that strict medical protocols are being followed, ensuring the workers’ observation and continued care.

“Following doctors’ recommendations, workers are being transferred to specialized centers for further medical examination. Strong medical protocols are being observed, and they remain under continuous observation,” stated DM Ruhela.

The rescued workers, transported from Chinyalisaur to AIIMS Rishikesh, underwent further medical assessments, arriving via an IAF Chinook helicopter.

Expressing gratitude, the District Magistrate lauded the rescue teams and central agencies involved in the painstaking operation, while Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi recounted the emotional moment when the first worker emerged from the tunnel, noting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s visibly moved reaction.

“Numerous agencies were part of the rescue; when the first worker emerged, CM Dhami and everyone present were deeply emotional,” shared SP Yaduvanshi.

Meanwhile, CM Dhami confirmed an incentive of Rs 50,000 each for all personnel involved in the Silkyara Tunnel rescue operation. He personally visited the recovered workers at Chinyalisaur Hospital, assuring their health after complete medical examinations.

Addressing concerns about accountability, CM Dhami revealed that the Indian government has initiated a comprehensive safety audit of tunnels constructed across the country.

“I have just met everyone and everyone is healthy and all of their family members are happy. They have been fully examined and there is no health problem as such,” said Dhami. Additionally, the Chief Minister disbursed cheques of Rs 1 lakh to the trapped workers, as announced earlier. Moreover, the state government will reward the rescue workers who undertook the tunnel operation with Rs 50,000.

In terms of accountability, CM Dhami emphasized the Government of India’s directive to conduct a nationwide safety audit of tunnel construction projects.

All 41 workers who had been trapped in the Silkyari tunnel since November 12 were successfully evacuated on Tuesday evening. The rescued workers were greeted with orange marigold flower garlands by CM Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh.
