The result—a tie between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump—reflects the anticipated tight national race, underscoring America’s deep political divide as polls open nationwide.
</excerpt>

In a symbolic start to the 2024 US presidential election, the small community of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, reported a tied vote count: three votes each for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump. The voting tradition, conducted at midnight, saw the ballots of all six residents quickly counted and certified in about 12 minutes.

This outcome diverges sharply from 2020, when all five of Dixville Notch’s votes went to Joe Biden, despite this year’s voter demographics favoring Republicans four-to-two over independents, as noted by the Washington Post. Located in the White Mountains near the Canadian border, Dixville Notch began its midnight voting practice in 1960 to accommodate rail workers who needed to vote before morning shifts a tradition that originated in nearby Hart’s Location.

While Dixville Notch’s results are not necessarily a predictor of the national outcome Hillary Clinton, for instance, won here in 2016 the tied result this year reflects what most polls have described as a highly competitive race and a divided electorate. Tom Tillotson, 79, whose father Neil Tillotson introduced the tradition at the Balsams Grand Resort hotel in 1960, said the result “feels about normal” given the close race.

All six voters this year reside in the former hotel, with voter Scott Maxwell expressing surprise at the split, admitting he didn’t expect to cast his ballot for Trump. Another resident, Les Otten, highlighted the significance of Dixville Notch’s early count, calling it “a civics lesson for the country.” He emphasized the importance of voting, saying, “If we can help people understand that voting is a fundamental right of American citizens, that’s perhaps the key to what we’re doing here.”

Vance expressed confidence, reflecting on his own successful race in Ohio. Polls are open nationwide, with crucial swing states likely determining this close race.
</excerpt>

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance voted in person on Tuesday morning in the highly anticipated US Presidential Election, CNN reported. Vance cast his ballot at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was joined by his wife, Usha Vance, and their children. Appearing upbeat, the Ohio senator and running mate of former President Donald Trump shared his appreciation for those participating in what he called “one of the great traditions in American democracy.”

“I feel good; you never know until you know, but I feel good about this race,” Vance commented, drawing a comparison to his own previous Senate race, where he also voted at the same Cincinnati location. “Hopefully, it goes as well for President Trump and me as it did for me a couple of years ago in Ohio,” he added.

As polling opens across 34 states, this election is being hailed as one of the most consequential in recent years, with implications for the direction of both domestic and global affairs over the next four years. Notably, voters in five key swing states Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania are casting ballots in races that could determine the ultimate outcome. Voting hours vary by state, though most polling locations will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Polls in some states, including Georgia, will begin closing at 7 p.m. ET, with Hawaii and Alaska wrapping up at midnight ET.

The competition between the two major parties has captured significant national and international attention, with the Democratic candidate, incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, aiming to break new ground by potentially becoming the first female and first Indian-origin US President. Meanwhile, Trump seeks to make history by becoming the first president in more than a century to serve two non-consecutive terms.

With polls showing a neck-and-neck race between Trump and Harris, projected leads remain within a narrow margin, setting the stage for an election night that is expected to be closely watched across the country and around the world.

Trump promised the “largest deportation program” and drew comparisons to a 1939 Nazi rally. The event drew backlash, especially regarding derogatory statements about Puerto Rico and Kamala Harris.
</excerpt>

Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night featured a mix of sharp critiques and inflammatory remarks from speakers and Trump himself, just over a week from the upcoming election. The event, held in New York City’s iconic venue, included racially charged language and calls for aggressive immigration measures, sparking immediate backlash from Democratic opponents.

As Trump addressed the crowd, he repeated his promise to implement what he described as “the largest deportation program in American history,” vowing to target what he referred to as “the enemy within.” Trump also commented on his phone call with an unnamed “very, very important person,” claiming he cut the call short to watch a SpaceX rocket launch by Elon Musk.

The rally’s tone grew darker with the presence of Trump’s campaign surrogates, some of whom stirred controversy with remarks on various issues, including Puerto Rico and Vice President Kamala Harris. Comparisons to the infamous 1939 Nazi rally at the same venue surfaced, with Trump critics, including Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Tim Walz, noting the event’s parallels to the German American Bund’s pro-Hitler gathering at Madison Square Garden.

Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric Promises “Largest Deportation Program”

In his speech, Trump reiterated familiar themes on immigration, pledging to escalate deportations if elected and claiming that New York City was overrun by “illegal immigrants,” allegedly housed in “luxury apartments” while military veterans suffer. His narrative included sensationalized comments about a “savage Venezuelan prison gang” supposedly overtaking Times Square, a claim at odds with current reports of crime trends in the area. Trump suggested that the Biden administration lacked resources to aid hurricane-stricken North Carolina due to excessive spending on immigration.

Additionally, Trump’s message emphasized his “law and order” stance, vowing to address what he called a “radical-left machine” if re-elected. “We’re not just running against Kamala,” he told supporters, “but against a massive, vicious radical-left machine that runs today’s Democrat party.”

Speakers’ Remarks on Puerto Rico and Harris Spark Backlash

The rally’s combative tone extended to the evening’s other speakers, with one podcaster, Tony Hinchliffe, making disparaging remarks about Puerto Rico, labeling the US territory “an island of garbage” and making inappropriate comments about Latina women. These comments, which quickly circulated on social media, drew a swift rebuke from Puerto Rican popstar Ricky Martin, who urged followers to vote for Kamala Harris in response.

Trump’s campaign spokesperson Danielle Alvarez distanced the campaign from Hinchliffe’s remarks, asserting that they “do not reflect the views of President Trump.” Nonetheless, the comments may have political consequences, particularly in Pennsylvania, where a substantial number of Latino voters are of Puerto Rican descent. Harris herself had spent the day visiting a Puerto Rican restaurant in Philadelphia, discussing plans to promote economic opportunities for Puerto Rico.

Among the other controversial speakers was Tucker Carlson, who made comments mocking Vice President Harris’s racial identity, and radio personality Sid Rosenberg, who insulted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Another speaker, Trump’s childhood friend David Rem, held a crucifix as he referred to Harris as “the antichrist” and announced his candidacy for New York City mayor.

Comparisons to 1939 Nazi Rally at MSG Stir Debate

The timing and location of Trump’s rally drew comparisons to the notorious 1939 Nazi rally, with critics highlighting the historical context of hosting such an event at Madison Square Garden. The 1939 rally, hosted by the pro-Hitler German American Bund, was a spectacle of Aryan nationalism, with swastika flags and speeches lauding white supremacy. Hillary Clinton, speaking to CNN last week, also noted the comparison, and Walz reiterated it at a rally in Nevada on Sunday. Walz remarked that the Trump campaign was likely aware of the implications of hosting a rally at Madison Square Garden so close to the election.

Responding to these comparisons, Trump campaign officials condemned Clinton’s remarks as “disgusting.” Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who appeared at the rally, alluded to the controversy, saying, “I don’t see no stinkin’ Nazis in here,” drawing laughs from the crowd as he struggled to tear his shirt in a nod to his wrestling persona.

As the rally came to a close, Trump intensified his rhetoric, calling New York City a “rat-infested haven” and accusing the Biden administration of forcing “hundreds of thousands of really rough people” into the city. Despite his troubled relationship with New York, Trump’s appearance marked his third rally in the city this year, following campaign stops in the Bronx and Long Island, where he sought support among Black and Latino voters.

With the election looming, Trump’s rhetoric and the controversial rally underscored his combative stance and his focus on issues like immigration, though his divisive language and fiery rhetoric continue to spark debate.

Hogan framed the crowd as “real Americans” backing Trump’s vision, dismissing criticism of the movement. A shirt-ripping attempt turned into comic relief, sparking social media reactions.
</excerpt>

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan brought his signature energy to Madison Square Garden, opening for Donald Trump at a rally that mixed nostalgia with pointed humor. Hogan, a longtime supporter of the former president, fired up the crowd with references to his wrestling days and delivered a few jabs at Vice President Kamala Harris.

With his iconic bravado, Hogan whose real name is Terry Bollea told the cheering crowd, “This is the house that Hulk-a-mania built!” as he looked back on his wrestling heyday. Embracing the label of “Trump-a-maniacs” for the gathered supporters, Hogan described them as champions of Trump’s vision for the country, while echoing Trump’s “real American” rhetoric. “The only man who can fix this country today is Trump,” he said, framing Trump as the leader who would restore “peace through strength” domestically and internationally.

In a controversial moment, Hogan made a humorous swipe at Harris, alluding to an online video by mimicking a comedic spitting sound effect. “When I hear Kamala speak… it sounds like a script from Hollywood with a really, really [spitting sound] bad actress!” The quip drew cheers and applause, resonating with the enthusiastic audience.

Hogan has been an outspoken Trump supporter, notably delivering remarks at the Republican National Convention in July. Throughout his speech, he rejected criticisms labeling Trump’s base as extreme, instead describing the crowd as “hard-working men and women that are real Americans, brother.” Hogan’s attempt to rip his shirt a nod to his wrestling days ended humorously when he struggled to tear the fabric, a moment quickly picked up by social media users who responded with both humor and sarcasm.

Trump’s rally marked a highly anticipated return to the iconic New York venue, drawing a mix of celebrities and loyal followers who championed his political vision as he gears up for another campaign.

Obama, a key figure in the final stretch, aims to boost voter turnout in tight races. His efforts have already raised $76 million for Harris’ campaign.
</excerpt>

Former US President Barack Obama is set to begin campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, with a rally next week in Pittsburgh. The event marks the start of a campaign blitz aimed at rallying voters in critical swing states ahead of Election Day.

Obama, who delivered a strong speech in support of Harris at the Democratic National Convention in August, has been offering informal advice to her since she became the Democratic nominee. Harris assumed the position after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race following a lackluster debate performance against Republican candidate Donald Trump.

In the final month of the campaign, Obama will focus on key battleground states, a senior Harris campaign official revealed on Friday. With Obama’s continued popularity among Democratic voters, his presence is expected to be a powerful motivator, especially in tight races where voter turnout will be crucial.

“President Obama understands the importance of this election and is fully committed to helping elect Vice President Harris, Governor Walz, and Democrats nationwide,” said Eric Schultz, Obama’s senior advisor. Schultz emphasized that Obama’s objectives are to win the White House, maintain control of the US Senate, and regain the House of Representatives. As voting has already started, the campaign’s strategy now centers on persuading and mobilizing voters, particularly in states with tight contests that could come down to the wire.

Obama’s involvement in fundraising and campaign events has already brought in $76 million for the Harris campaign, his office confirmed. Last month, he headlined a $4 million fundraiser in Los Angeles and has been featured in multiple campaign ads supporting Harris.

Obama will officially kick off his efforts with a visit to Pittsburgh on Thursday. Both he and his wife, Michelle, endorsed Harris’ presidential bid earlier in July.

At a recent rally in Flint, Michigan, Vice President Kamala Harris faced an awkward moment during her speech when she repeatedly mentioned the phrase “32 days.” The incident, which was caught on video and quickly circulated on social media, sparked rumors that her teleprompter may have malfunctioned. Her speech, which included sharp criticisms of Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance, was interrupted by this brief lapse, raising eyebrows among viewers.

Repeated “32 Days” Phrase Sparks Social Media Buzz

During her address in Flint, Harris appeared to stumble mid-speech, repeating “32 days” multiple times. This sparked a wave of speculation on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), with many suggesting that her teleprompter might have stopped working. A video clip of the moment went viral, showing the Vice President, seemingly at a loss for words during this part of her speech.

JUST IN: Kamala Harris has no clue what to say after her teleprompter appears to stop working, keeps repeating herself.

The Vice President kept repeating “32 days.”

“Remember his number 32 today? We got 32 days until the election.”

“So 32 days… 32 days… Okay. We got some… pic.twitter.com/2fIl1nyEkq

Criticism of Trump and Vance

While addressing the crowd, Harris took the opportunity to criticize former President Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance, particularly targeting their track record on manufacturing jobs. She labeled Trump “one of the biggest losers of manufacturing jobs in American history,” in a jab aimed at his handling of the sector.

Harris’s Message of Support for the Middle Class

Harris emphasized her middle-class roots during the rally, stating, “I come from the middle class, and I will never forget where I come from.” She reiterated her commitment to fostering economic growth in cities like Flint, pledging to bring more “good union jobs,” including opportunities that do not require a college degree.

The Teleprompter Incident

However, the speech took an unexpected turn when Harris got stuck on the phrase “32 days,” which referred to the time left until the November 5 election day. This moment of confusion led to further speculation about whether her teleprompter had malfunctioned.

Social Media Reactions to Harris’s Gaffe

The brief gaffe quickly drew reactions online. One user tweeted, “Kamala really can’t speak without a teleprompter! You can see the EXACT moment it malfunctions. She can’t speak without a script! This is HUMILIATING for her!” Another commented, “Kamala’s teleprompter briefly went out at the beginning of her speech — you can tell the exact moment it happened.” Some took a more mocking tone, with one user adding, “Omg Kamala’s teleprompter just stopped working and she completely malfunctioned, repeating the same rehearsed lines aimlessly.”

The incident, while brief, provided fuel for critics and became a talking point on social media, overshadowing some of the key messages Harris aimed to deliver at the rally.

With significant news events unfolding globally, both candidates aim to bolster their images and credibility ahead of the upcoming election, presenting contrasting views on key topics.
</excerpt>

Candidates Prepare to Address Major Issues Facing Voters

Democrat Tim Walz and Republican JD Vance are set to face off in the only vice presidential debate of the 2024 election on Tuesday night. The event, hosted by CBS News in New York, will occur without a live audience and is considered a crucial moment for both campaigns. This debate takes place against the backdrop of significant events at home and abroad, including recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene in the southeastern United States and escalating tensions in the Middle East as Israel intensifies its actions against Iran-backed militant groups in Lebanon.

Traditionally, vice presidential candidates play a role similar to attack dogs for their party’s presidential nominees in this case, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and former Republican President Donald Trump. However, both Walz and Vance have aggressively critiqued one another for months, setting the stage for an intense debate.

Backgrounds of the Candidates on Display

Walz, the 60-year-old governor of Minnesota, earned his place as the Democratic vice presidential nominee partly due to his memorable branding of the GOP ticket as “weird” during television interviews. Vance, 40, is a military veteran who has scrutinized Walz’s service record. The debate will be moderated by CBS anchors Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan, starting at 9 p.m. Eastern time, and will also be simulcast on CNN.

The candidates’ backgrounds will be pivotal as they seek to connect with a broad audience of voters. Walz, a two-term governor and former congressman, may emphasize his previous roles as a high school teacher and assistant football coach. Vance, known for his best-selling memoir focusing on his Appalachian roots and the socioeconomic struggles of his hometown, is likely to reflect on how he has evolved in his views toward Trump, without delving into his past as a critic of the former president.

Both candidates aim to present themselves as authentic figures in a political landscape where undecided voters in key states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin may determine the election outcome. While voters are largely influenced by the presidential candidates at the top of their tickets, Walz and Vance are expected to spend a considerable amount of time attacking Harris and Trump, respectively, while also promoting their own credentials and challenging their opponents’ narratives.

Key Issues: Abortion Rights and Military Service

Abortion rights will be a significant topic during the debate, as Democrats view this issue as crucial for motivating women and young voters. Walz plans to frame his discussion around Harris’s advocacy for “freedom,” contrasting it with Trump’s Supreme Court appointments that led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. He has also shared personal stories, including his and his wife Gwen’s fertility struggles. Conversely, Vance has sought to depict Walz as extreme in his abortion views, criticizing him for backing a Minnesota measure that allows abortion “up to the moment of birth.”

In addition, Vance and Trump have struggled to align on abortion policy, with Vance attempting to promote measures that would incentivize childbirth. Vance’s criticisms of Walz could include past statements he made regarding women’s reproductive choices, which Democrats have seized upon to portray him as judgmental.

Walz’s military record may also become a focal point of contention. Vance has accused the governor of overstating his military background and of trying to avoid combat service in Iraq. Although Walz filed to run for Congress before his unit’s deployment notification, Republicans are likely to continue scrutinizing his service history. This contentious debate could force Walz to address accusations he would prefer to sidestep.

A Charged Debate on Immigration Rhetoric

Vance and Trump have recently faced backlash for unfounded claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Despite the allegations being widely dismissed, both candidates have used immigration rhetoric to rally support against the Biden administration. As a counterpoint, Walz may bring attention to these claims during the debate, challenging the Republicans’ narratives.

With both candidates aiming to capture the attention of undecided voters, this debate represents a significant opportunity to influence public perception leading up to the election. As they prepare to showcase their respective strengths and address critical issues, viewers can expect a lively and revealing exchange that could shape the trajectory of their campaigns.

Sanctions were imposed on RT’s editor-in-chief and staff, and the State Department limited visas for Russian media employees. The crackdown follows similar accusations against Iran.
</excerpt>

Russian Media Outlets Targeted in US Sanctions

The Biden administration has accused Russia of conducting a long-term disinformation campaign aimed at influencing the upcoming US presidential election. In a direct condemnation, the US government highlighted the role of Russian state-backed media, including RT (formerly Russia Today), in disseminating pro-Kremlin messages to American voters. The Treasury Department sanctioned RT’s editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan, and nine other network employees for their involvement in the operation. Simonyan is labeled as a key player in Russia’s efforts to spread malign influence, according to US officials.

Covert Recruitment of American Influencers

US government accuses RT of spending millions to recruit “unwitting” American influencers to propagate disinformation, undermining both US election integrity and foreign policy goals, particularly with regard to Ukraine. The Justice Department, led by Attorney General Merrick Garland, charged two RT employees with money laundering and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Garland stated that RT’s tactics, including spoofing US media websites like Fox News and The Washington Post, were directed by the Kremlin to manipulate American voters.

Broader Crackdown on Foreign Interference

As part of broader sanctions, the US State Department also announced limitations on visa issuance for certain Russian state media employees. It declared that the media organization Rossiya Segodnya would now be treated as a foreign mission, requiring it to disclose further details about its operations within the US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller pointed out that RT had evolved beyond its media role, now serving as a Kremlin propaganda tool.

Expanding Efforts to Thwart Election Interference

This crackdown on Russian disinformation follows a similar US accusation against Iran for leading foreign interference efforts. In August, US intelligence agencies linked Iran to a hack targeting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Garland vowed continued aggressive action to counter election meddling by Russia, Iran, China, and other foreign actors.

While Russia preferred Biden over Trump, they expect no improvement in US-Russia relations regardless of the election outcome, dismissing Trump’s claim of ending the Ukraine war swiftly.
</excerpt>

Russia perceives US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris as a more predictable opponent than Republican Donald Trump, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. However, he noted that regardless of the election outcome, there is little chance of improved relations between Moscow and Washington.

In an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a television reporter with privileged access to the Kremlin, Peskov dismissed Trump’s claim that he could resolve the Ukraine conflict within 24 hours if he were re-elected. This statement came after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the upcoming election, endorsing Harris as the Democratic candidate. Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin had expressed a preference for Biden over Trump, characterizing Biden as an experienced, “old-school” politician.

When asked by Zarubin who Russia might favor now, Peskov humorously replied that Russia has no preferred candidate. Still, he acknowledged that Democrats, including Harris, are generally more predictable, a quality that Putin had previously attributed to Biden.

Despite their remarks, both Putin and Peskov emphasized that the US election is an internal matter. Over time, their opinions have varied. In February, Putin praised Biden’s predictability but questioned his mental fitness, seemingly to stir controversy. In June, Putin downplayed the significance of the US election for Russia but criticized the American legal system’s alleged political bias against Trump.

Peskov stated that US actions against Russia have surpassed acceptable limits, leaving bilateral relations at an all-time low with no foreseeable path to recovery. He also rejected Trump’s promise of a quick resolution to the Ukraine crisis, calling it “fantasy” to believe that halting military aid and initiating peace talks would swiftly change Kyiv’s stance.

Governor Tim Walz made a short but significant visit to the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday, following a busy week of campaign events with Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite the brevity of his visit, Walz engaged in several traditional fair activities and interacted with the public.

Walz’s first purchase at the fair was a classic pork chop on a stick, enjoyed with his daughter, Hope Walz, and his wife, Gwen Walz. The family then proceeded to the Dairy Building, where they surprised workers by serving ice cream to fair attendees. The presence of Secret Service agents revealed the governor’s involvement just before his shift ended.

After his stint at the dairy counter, Walz met with Rachel Visser, the newly crowned Princess Kay of the Milky Way, and admired the fair’s renowned butter sculptures. Walz humorously referenced his past experiences with pork chops in Iowa while lauding the Minnesota State Fair as the best in the country.

Governor Walz’s visit lasted about an hour, a typical duration given his frequent use of the state fair as a campaign platform. Last year, he was seen enjoying the slingshot ride with his daughter Hope. In a 2022 interview with WCCO’s Esme Murphy, Walz expressed his support for abortion rights.

The fair visit followed a significant week for Walz and Harris. The pair recently participated in their first major TV interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, where Walz addressed his military service record and clarified a previous misstatement about “weapons of war” carried during his National Guard service. A campaign spokesperson confirmed that Walz had “misspoken” and explained that the comment was meant in the context of discussions about school shootings.

The interview also revisited a memorable moment from the Democratic National Convention when Walz’s son, Gus, became emotional during his father’s vice-presidential nomination speech. Walz expressed deep gratitude for the moment and acknowledged the emotional impact and his son’s pride. The governor and his wife recently shared with People magazine that Gus, who has ADHD, an anxiety disorder, and a non-verbal learning disorder, is a “brilliant” teenager whose neurodivergence they view as his “secret power.”

In his speech, Obama addressed core voter concerns about leadership and the future, and then turned his attention to Trump.
Obama illustrated his critique of Trump’s fixation on crowd sizes by bringing his hands closer together, humorously suggesting that Trump’s focus on size was excessive. The audience responded with a burst of laughter at the gesture.

Comparison to an Annoying Neighbor

Continuing his critique, Obama compared Trump’s behavior to an irritating neighbor who incessantly uses a leaf blower. He emphasized that while such behavior might be tiresome from a neighbor, it is dangerous if exhibited by a president.

The rally marked the fifth event in five days for Harris and Walz, reflecting a renewed wave of enthusiasm and engagement among voters and organizers following President Joe Biden’s decision to step down from the presidential race due to concerns over his cognitive health and support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Harris Promises Support for Service Workers

During the rally, Harris pledged to eliminate taxes on tips, aligning her stance with that of her rival, Donald Trump, in a bid to gain the support of service workers, a crucial voter base in Nevada. “It is my promise to everyone here that when I am president, we will continue to fight for working families, including raising the minimum wage and eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris declared.

Walz Clarifies Military Service Remarks

The Harris-Walz campaign faced scrutiny after a 2018 video of Walz discussing “weapons of war” resurfaced. In the video, Walz, a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard who never served in a combat zone, spoke out against gun violence, leading some, including Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance, to question his military record. Campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt clarified that Walz “misspoke” and emphasized that he handled weapons of war during his service but never intended to mislead the public about his experience.

Record Turnout and Key Endorsements

Harris and Walz’s campaign tour through swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona has garnered significant support, including a record turnout of 15,000 attendees at a Glendale, Arizona rally. Additionally, they received endorsements from influential groups like the Culinary Union in Nevada and the historically neutral League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), signaling growing momentum for their campaign.

As the Harris-Walz ticket continues to gain traction, analysts at the Cook Political Report have shifted their outlook on key states, now categorizing Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia as “toss-ups” rather than leaning Republican. Harris’s focus on immigration, abortion rights, and tribal sovereignty during her speeches aims to secure the diverse coalition of voters that propelled Democrats to victory in 2020.

</excerpt>

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Tuesday, arguing that U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris cannot legally take over funds raised by President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. The complaint comes after Biden, an 81-year-old Democrat, endorsed Harris upon ending his reelection bid on Sunday.

Transition of Campaign Funds Sparks Controversy

Following Biden’s endorsement, Harris swiftly assumed control of Biden’s campaign accounts and secured the Democratic nomination by winning pledges from a majority of delegates for the upcoming party convention. The Biden campaign had approximately $95 million in the bank at the end of June, and the transfer of these funds has become a focal point of Republican efforts to challenge Harris’ bid.

David Warrington, the Trump campaign’s general counsel, described Harris’ actions as a “brazen money grab” in the FEC filing. Warrington labeled the transfer as “the largest campaign finance violation in American history.”

Expert Opinions and Campaign Reactions

Saurav Ghosh, a lawyer at the Campaign Legal Center, a non-partisan watchdog group, stated that Harris’ claim on the funds should be secure since she was already part of the “Biden for President” campaign as the vice-presidential candidate. Election regulators are unlikely to resolve the issue before the November 5 presidential election.

The FEC declined to comment on unresolved enforcement matters.

Harris Campaign Dismisses Complaint

Harris’ campaign reported raising $100 million since Biden stepped down and endorsed her, surpassing Biden’s remaining funds in just a few days. The Harris campaign dismissed the FEC complaint as a baseless legal maneuver by Republicans.

“Republicans may be jealous that Democrats are energized to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies, but baseless legal claims – like the ones they’ve made for years to try to suppress votes and steal elections – will only distract them while we sign up volunteers, talk to voters, and win this election,” said Harris campaign spokesperson Charles Kretchmer Lutvak.

</excerpt>

Kamala Harris has initiated her White House campaign with a strong offensive against Donald Trump, presenting the upcoming November election as a choice between a former prosecutor and a convicted felon. Addressing approximately 3,000 people in Wisconsin, a key battleground state, Harris compared her Republican opponent to the fraudsters she prosecuted during her career.

Harris Attacks Trump’s Record

While Trump criticized Harris’s record on border issues, labeling her “Lyin’ Kamala Harris” and accusing her of destroying everything she touches, Harris secured the support of a majority of Democratic delegates, positioning herself as the party’s nominee.

Biden’s Withdrawal and Endorsement

President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race, endorsing his vice-president amid increasing pressure from top Democrats and donors following his poor performance in a debate against Trump in late June. Harris’s campaign raised over $100 million in the 36 hours following Biden’s exit. A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows her with a two-point lead over Trump, 44% to 42%.

Harris Highlights Prosecutorial Experience

At a rally in a Milwaukee suburb, Harris emphasized her experience as California’s attorney general. “I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” she said. “Predators who abused women. Fraudsters who ripped off consumers. Cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain.” She assured the crowd that she understood Trump’s type and was ready to challenge him based on her record.

Crowd Enthusiasm

The enthusiastic crowd, in contrast to the more subdued Biden events earlier in the electoral cycle, chanted “Kamala! Kamala!” and “lock him up” when Trump’s name was mentioned, echoing a chant from Trump’s 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton.

Trump’s Response

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to highlight a poll indicating Harris as the most unpopular vice-president in US history and noted her left-wing ratings by GovTrack. He also criticized her stance on liberal priorities such as gun control, abortion access, child poverty, union rights, and affordable healthcare.

Harris’s Vision

Harris articulated her vision, emphasizing a country of “freedom, compassion, and rule of law” versus “chaos, fear, and hate.” Whether she can maintain her momentum is yet to be seen, with pollster Tony Fabrizio predicting that the initial excitement would wane and scrutiny would increase on her role as Biden’s vice-president.

Republican Attacks

The Trump campaign continued its attacks on Harris, citing her perceived failures at the US-Mexico border and the Biden-Harris administration’s record on crime and inflation. A Republican email accused her of bailing out violent offenders, insulting Israel, and misleading the public about Biden’s cognitive decline.

Trump Open to Debating Harris

Trump expressed willingness to debate Harris in September, originally planned against Biden, highlighting his belief that Harris is more radical left and easier to defeat than Biden.

Democratic Support and Endorsements

Harris has garnered endorsements from key Democratic figures, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, as well as Hollywood stars like George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, and Jamie Lee Curtis, potentially boosting her campaign funds.

In a related development, Republican Representative Andy Ogles introduced articles of impeachment against Harris for her handling of immigration, although it is unlikely to progress.

President Biden is set to deliver an Oval Office speech explaining his decision to withdraw. Harris’s campaign, buoyed by significant endorsements and fundraising, now faces the challenge of sustaining momentum and addressing Republican criticisms as the election approaches.

</excerpt>

Ahead of the US elections 2024, democrat voters have recently urged President Joe Biden to leave the race via 30-second video. Emphasizing, ‘ Potus’ must leave the race to ‘save democracy.’

Meanwhile, recently, a campaign was launched under the name ‘Pass the Torch Joe.’ Under this campaign, the best or most suitable democrat candidate is being sought to defeat republican nominee Donald Trump. Who it believes, is an ‘existential threat.’

As per the group, a strong ticket is needed to increase the chances of beating him. Thus, a video was shared in X, in which seven individuals, each of them lauding Biden, requested him to leave the race. So that, the chances of Democratic party defeating Donald trump can be increased.

Check Out The Video

President Biden, you saved democracy in 2020.
Now you have a chance to do it again.
It’s time to #PassTheTorchJoe.

In this video, the democratic voters were hailing biden for saving democracy in 2020, however, they announced, that it is now time for him to ‘pass a torch’ and select a new nominee.

Moreover, they need a candidate, who brings ‘new energy and hope.’ In addition, the candidate makes sure, that Donald trump doesn’t enter the white house.

Continuing the speech, they asserted, that the country’s future is in his hands and thus, be a leader and ‘pass the torch.’

Later when the video concludes, people collectively said ‘pass the torch and raised the sign with the message.

Currently, the video has managed to get 135.7k views and around 1,000 likes.

Reacting to this video one netizen said ‘Good ad but rather than pick a new nominee it should have said, let Kamala step up. Joe has the chance to pass this torch to our first woman President. Now that’s a legacy.’

Another giving similar opinion said, ‘Pass the torch and apologize for putting us in this mess.’

Earlier on Thursday, CBS news citing two anonymous white house democrats, revealed, that biden might give up on the 2024 presidential race on weekend.

However, on Friday, Biden’s campaign team declared, that Biden will indeed contest as democrat nominee.

It remains to be seen, how the clash between democrat vs republicans unfolds till November 2024 election.

</excerpt>

Ahead of the US presidential Elections in 2024 and amidst the party lawmakers asking him to give up, Joe Biden grimly persists for coming November race.

Despite democratic campaign chairman Jen O’Malley Dillon declaring, that Biden is staying in the presidential race and announcing him as a best person to challenge Donald trump, only less people seem to agree with this sentiment.

According to the survey and opinions, many lawmakers and party operators are asking the president to leave the race.

Earlier on Friday, four lawmakers including congressman Jamie Raskin from maryland and sean casten from Illinois have asked the biden to bow out of this race. While comparing biden with trump on the basis of good & bad qualities. Casten asked biden to leave the race with dignity & decency.

If Not Biden Then Who?

However currently in a democrat party, there is no strong option and there is little to no public confidence in vice-president Kamala Harris. As a result, a stalemate has been established in a party.

Moreover, the initial fissures can cause open primary at party convention in Chicago at coming months. Which will be open-to all since 1968.

Some of the democrat lawmaker like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, are already worried, that if biden is removed from the nomination, some of them will attempt to throw Kamala Harris from the ticket.

But the congressional black caucus and several Latino lawmakers strongly support Biden Harris ticket.

What Happens If Biden Withdraws?

Despite Kamala being an implicit choice for biden as a president (if he withdraws), the mantle still isn’t assured. Because, leaving the nomination if it is not soldified, doesn’t go to next running candidate, unlike in white house, where vice-president is automatically given the post, if the president resgins or leaves during his/her term in white house.

Hence, the party have to undertake a political process, where vote of more than 3000 delegates is needed to elect a nominee.

But, if Biden really withdraws from the presidential race, then members of the party might try to collect support for harris or another, who will be preferred by many delegates. This might be done DNC meeting, which starts from August 19 at Chicago.

But till then, a consensus is reached, then an open convention will take place at Chicago. But it remains to be seen, what saga unfolds in the democratic party.

</excerpt>

Indians have spotted an interesting connection in the US Vice Presidential race with JD Vance’s GOP VP candidacy. The contest features Kamala Harris, whose heritage traces back to Tamil Nadu, and Usha Chilukuri, Vance’s wife, from Andhra Pradesh. This unique twist has sparked playful discussions on social media, framing the November VP battle as a rivalry between these two Indian states.

Key Highlights:
– JD Vance’s selection as Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 US elections brings an India-centric dimension to the VP race.
– Kamala Harris’s roots are linked to Tamil Nadu, while Usha Chilukuri Vance hails from Andhra Pradesh.
– Social media users humorously term the VP battle a contest between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

See Post:

Usha Chilukuri Vance, wife of Trump’s VP pick JD Vance, is a Yale & Cambridge grad from an Andhra Hindu family. supports him against Kamala Harris, who hails from Tamil Nadu, in the 2024 election.

It’s an election season with a flavorful Andhra vs Tamil Nadu twist!#USPolitics pic.twitter.com/bYmPL2OIKz

Following JD Vance’s announcement as the Republican VP candidate, Indians quickly noted his wife Usha Chilukuri’s Indian heritage. The connection became a topic of interest, with many highlighting the significance of Kamala Harris’s Tamil Nadu roots and Usha Chilukuri’s Andhra Pradesh background, leading to social media jokes about an India-themed VP contest.

One user remarked, “Usha Chilukuri Vance, wife of Trump’s VP pick JD Vance, is a Yale & Cambridge grad from an Andhra Hindu family. She supports him against Kamala Harris, who hails from Tamil Nadu, in the 2024 election. It’s an election season with a flavorful Andhra vs Tamil Nadu twist!”

Usha Chilukuri’s Background:
Usha Chilukuri’s parents, academics from Andhra Pradesh, migrated to the US. Her father, Krish Chilukuri, is an aerospace engineering professor at San Diego State University, and her mother, Lakshmi Chilukuri, is a marine molecular biologist and Provost at UC San Diego. Born and raised in San Diego, Usha met JD Vance at Yale University. They married in 2014 and have three children. Usha has held prestigious legal clerkships and is a member of the DC Bar.

This India-connection adds a unique flavor to the 2024 VP race, blending American politics with a touch of Indian state rivalry.

As the effect of shots weared off, trump allegedly winced and placed his hand at right ear, that too in such a way, that blood was seen.

Shortly after that, agents arrived at the podium and withdrew the republican candidate from the stage. Showing a gesture of defiance trump displayed a fist to the crowd.

Later, taking to X, the secret service announced, that us ex-president is safe. Afterward, the former president campaign also announced, that he was ‘fine’ and currently, he has taken to medical facility.

Issuing a statement, Trump’s spokesman Steven Cheung said, ‘President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.’

This incident happened following trump taking the stage at his final political campaign rally before Republican National Convention in Milwaukee coming week.

Coming to the rally, chaos and confusion spread, when shots were heard. In the microphone, trump reportedly said ‘Let me get my shoes,’ as security agents raised him back to his feet.

Eventually, Donald Trump was made to sit inside SUV, as he once again displayed his fist.

Reaction Towards This Incident

Later, many US politicians expressed shock over this incident. Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced, he ‘horrified’ by the incident taken place at trump’s rally. He expressed relief, that ex-president was safe & sound.

Reacting to this incident, republican minority leader Mitch McConnell said, ‘Tonight, all Americans are grateful that President Trump appears to be fine after a despicable attack on a peaceful rally. Violence has no place in our politics.’

Currently, Joe Biden has gotten first briefing of this incident at white house. In addition, he was also informed by head of secret service and homeland security secretary.

US President Joe Biden faced a challenging solo press conference on Thursday where he was questioned by the White House press corps. The aim was to reassure Democratic lawmakers, allies, and persuadable voters ahead of the upcoming election that he still possesses the strength and stamina required for the presidency.

Biden attributed his poor debate performance to feeling unwell due to a cold, as he sought to bolster his re-election campaign.

Key Takeaways from Biden’s Press Conference:

Early Slip-up: President Biden made a notable gaffe early in the press conference by mistakenly referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.” This slip occurred while explaining his decision to choose her as his running mate, believing she could defeat Trump in an election. Earlier, at the NATO summit, Biden had introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President Putin,” quickly correcting himself after the audience gasped.

When a reporter mentioned the “Vice President Trump” slip and the Republican campaign’s reaction, Biden responded defiantly, “Listen to him,” before exiting the stage, refusing to address the mistake further.

On Kamala Harris as a Potential Replacement: When asked about Harris’s capability to assume the presidency, Biden affirmed his confidence, stating, “I wouldn’t have picked her unless I thought she was qualified to be president,” citing her experience as a prosecutor and US Senator. He admitted shifting away from his 2020 promise to be a “bridge” to a new generation of Democrats, attributing this to the gravity of the situation he inherited. Biden emphasized his commitment to finishing his current responsibilities, repeatedly stating, “I’ve got to finish this job.”

On the Israel-Gaza War: Biden announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire framework, with some details still to be finalized. “That framework is now agreed on by both Israel and Hamas. So I sent my team to the region to hammer out the details,” he said. Biden stressed that the conflict must end immediately and that Israel should not occupy Gaza once the war concludes. He expressed dissatisfaction with some outcomes in Gaza, particularly the planned closure of the US military’s humanitarian pier.

Will Biden Drop Out of the Race? Biden dismissed concerns about his ability to serve another term, despite his earlier reference to Trump. “I’m not in this for my legacy. I’m in this to complete the job I started,” he asserted, emphasizing his strong support among voters and his commitment to the campaign. He countered implications of decline or inefficiency, stating, “My schedule has been full bore… But there’s no indication of that yet — none.”

On Health Concerns: President Biden affirmed his robust health and openness to undergoing another neurological examination if recommended by his medical team. He disclosed that he has already undergone three rigorous neurological evaluations, with the most recent one in February. “I am in good shape,” he stated, based on his doctors‘ feedback, noting that currently, no further examination is recommended.

</excerpt>

Ahead of the US elections, the President of America Joe Biden has recently informed the gathering of democratic governors, that he won’t be able to attend events after 8 pm, as needs to get a lot of sleep and work lesser hours.

Thus, he asked them to not schedule the events after 8 pm. As per New York Times report, this admission was during a meeting, where he was assuring his supporters, that he remains committed to his role and is ready to extensively campaign against Republican rival Donald Trump.

These remarks about needing rest, has revealed this fact, that he’s aware about the concerns related to frequent and noticeable slip-ups.

But despite these limitations, Biden says, he is still determined to fight the upcoming presidential elections.

As per the sources, Biden cites extensive international trips as a reason for his performance decline.

Earlier, he blamed cold for his halting performance, but the Biden admits, that he pushed himself too hard and ignored advice regarding his schedule. Now he has admitted that he needs to make his workload lighter and needs more rest.

However, despite their private concerns, none of the governors have asked Biden to withdraw from this presidential race.

</excerpt>

As Joe Biden vacations at Camp David, important democratic leaders showed support for President Joe Biden, and rejected the notion that he should end his political campaigns for second four-year term in white house.

As ahead of US general elections, there were calls for ending his 2024 political campaign, due to his halting and disjointed debate with ex-president Donald Trump last week. Reports Voice of America.

But the allies also acknowledged Biden’s weaknesses, that Joe Biden sometimes struggles at times to complete sentences and at one point, he mistakenly declared, that he had killed Medicare (government’s health insurance plan for old people).

As per CBS-YouGov poll, around the margin of 72-27 per cent americans believe, that Biden doesn’t have ‘mental and cognitive health to serve as president.’

Which is seven percent worse, than three weeks ago, when this question was earlier asked.

However, the democratic leaders do not think that Biden should be replaced by a younger candidate.

Talking about his removal, Georgia Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock at NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ program said, ‘Oh, absolutely not…Bad debates happen. The question is, ‘Who has Donald Trump ever shown up for other than himself and people like himself?’ I’m with Joe Biden, and it’s our assignment to make sure that he gets over the finish line come November.’

What Republicans Said?

Governor Wes Moore of Maryland also echoed the same sentiments saying that president had a bad night just like all of us, but that shouldn’t remove him from November 5 election race.

Meanwhile Republican National Committee ex-chairman Reince Priebus emphasized, that with biden staying in the race, it will serve as downside for biden himself.

At ABC’s ‘This Week’ show, he also said, ‘This is not a bad debate night…This was an incoherent, almost impossible mess’.

The Republican of South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham also said similar thing saying, ‘He’s (Biden) a decent man. He’s a failed president. He is compromised. That’s the storyline here. That’s what the world saw, a compromised president.’

So Far, Joe Biden himself doesn’t plan to withdraw himself from the race and on Friday he said, ‘I know I’m not a young man. I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to, but I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth!’
