UP: Abandoned Newborn Survives 50 Wounds and Animal Bite After Being Thrown Off Bridge by Parents

A seven-day-old newborn, abandoned by his parents and thrown from a bridge in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, was found clinging to life with severe injuries, including a large animal bite. The infant, later named Krishna after being discovered on Janmashtami on August 26, was stuck on a tree near Rath and was rescued by locals, who rushed him to a hospital in Kanpur. His condition was critical, with over 50 wounds across his body, leading doctors to doubt his survival.

Nurses and doctors became deeply attached to Krishna

Krishna was treated at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, also known as Hallett Hospital, where medical staff worked tirelessly to nurse him back to health. According to Dr. Sanjay Kala, the hospital’s principal, Krishna’s wounds were consistent with bites from animals, possibly crows or other creatures, alongside injuries from the fall. Nurses and doctors became deeply attached to the child during his two-month recovery, finding it heartbreaking to see him suffer. Unable to hold him due to his injuries, the nurses sang lullabies to comfort him from a distance.

On October 24, Krishna was handed over to local authorities and the child welfare committee, fully healed. His caregivers, deeply moved by his resilience, expressed sorrow and disbelief over the circumstances of his abandonment.

“When he was leaving the hospital, all the staff members had tears in their eyes because they felt very attached to him, almost as if he was their child,” said Dr Kala.

“When we were so attached to him in two months, I wonder how his parents could throw him off a bridge. Even if they did not want him, they could leave him at a hospital or in front of a temple or mosque. That way, he would have at least not got hurt or bitten by animals,” he added.

“When he got better 10-15 days after he was admitted, we felt like taking him in our arms, but the wounds did not allow it. When we finally could do that, he had to leave the hospital. We are happy he has fully recovered and we hope he has a good life.” said Lakshmi, a nurse from the neo-natal ICU of the hospital

The fine notification came via text message, leaving Saxena baffled as he resides over 200 kilometers away from Noida and does not recall any such incident.

A Misunderstanding Over Helmet Requirement

According to NDTV, the fine was issued for a supposed helmet violation, which Saxena finds confusing because helmets are not a standard requirement for car drivers. The challan, issued last November, has since prompted multiple follow-ups from the authorities through emails and additional messages. The Noida police have warned Saxena that failure to pay the fine could result in a court appearance.

Saxena, who purchased his white Hyundai in March last year, has expressed disbelief at the fine. “If you are violating traffic rules, then it is common to receive a fine but that is not my case. I have never driven my car to the NCR area. And if there’s any rule that says we have to wear a helmet inside a car, then the authorities must give this to me in writing,” Saxena told NDTV.

Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has commenced the UP Constable Civil Police Direct Recruitment Examination 2023 on 23 August. More than 40 lakh candidates are expected to appear for this competitive examination, which aims to fill 60,244 constable posts. The recruitment drive, initially held on February 17 and 18, 2024, was canceled due to reports of a paper leak. The previous exam took place at 2,385 centers across all 75 districts in the state.

DCP Central Lucknow Raveena Tyagi, while speaking to ANI, said, “Around 80,000 aspirants will take the exam across 81 centers in Lucknow district. There are arrangements for thorough checking and frisking of candidates, with CCTV monitoring at all exam centers. Police personnel have been deployed at major bus stands, railway stations, and metro stations. Several holding areas have been set up for aspirants across the city. Facilities such as city buses and inter-district buses are also available. Additionally, Smart City Control and drones are being used for surveillance.”

Ram Rahim Gets 21-Day Parole

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the controversial chief of Sirsa based Dera Sacha Sauda and convicted rapist, has been granted a 21-day parole, sparking a legal controversy and political debates across the circles.

Ram Rahim, who has been serving a 20-year sentence since 2017 for raping two disciples, and was also convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist, was released from Sunaria jail in Rohtak at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The decision, made public on Tuesday, allows Singh to leave jail in and spend time at the Dera ashram in Barnawa, Uttar Pradesh. As per the record this is the 7th parole the controversial Dera Head had got since June 2022 and under these paroles he was allowed to spend a total 211 days out of jail in past 25 months. It is learnt that the Dera followers across the states Haryana, Punjab, Rajashtan and Uttar Pradesh going to organise grand celebrations to celebrate Dera Head’s 57th birthday falling August 15.

The parole was granted three days after the Punjab and Haryana High Court had made it clear that the Haryana govt is competent to take decisions regarding his release under the statutory provisions.

The High Court had passed these orders while disposing of the plea filed by SGPC seeking directions not to release the dera chief on parole or furlough.

Dhaba Owners Express Mixed Feelings After UP, Uttarakhand Govt Issue Kanwar Yatra Order

The order mandates that all eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route display their owners’ names, addresses, and mobile phone numbers. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also confirmed that similar instructions are already in place in Uttarakhand.

The Muzaffarnagar police stated that this advisory, initially for the duration of the Kanwar Yatra, was aimed at preventing any “confusion” and maintaining law and order. However, the directive has drawn heavy criticism from opposition parties, who argue that it unfairly targets Muslim traders.

Sources suggest several prominent eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to assess the impact of the order. At ‘Delhi Dhaba’ on the Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar highway, the owner had not only displayed his name but also the names and phone numbers of all employees, all of whom were Hindus.

At ‘Shiva Tourist Dhaba,’ the owner had gone further by displaying the Aadhaar cards of all employees, again all Hindus. The owner admitted that he had placed four Muslim employees on leave or terminated their employment following instructions from “the administration and local police,” although the administration denies issuing such directives.

Ibrar, the Muslim owner of ‘Veer Ji Da Dhaba,’ expressed mixed feelings about the directive. While he acknowledged that it allows customers to make informed choices, he also feared losing business and planned to close his dhaba for a few days due to expected slow business.

Many supported the decision, saying it would help them make informed choices, while others felt it was unnecessary as their devotion took precedence over where they ate. The Uttar Pradesh wing of BJP is set to conduct a state working committee meeting at Lucknow on sunday morning.

This meeting is being held, when BJP has received lesser seats than expected at Lok sabha polls.

The meeting will be held at Lohia Auditorium from 11.00 am to 5:00 pm. BJP president JP Nadda is set to attend the state committee meeting. The meeting will be presided by party’s state president Bhupendra Chaudhary.

Afterward, it will end by a speech from National President JP Nadda. In addition, UP’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath will talk to the committee before party’s national president.

This committee will be split into two sessions, and it will conclude on a political proposal.

This aforementioned political proposal will consist of discussions on future by-elections for 10 seats, examination of Lok sabha elections and future plan following electoral loss.

All the party delegates will be included in the working committee. Meanwhile, besides JP Nadda, state president, state organization general secretary, CM Yogi Adityanath, along with two deputy CM and central ministers from UP will attend the meeting.

“A video is going viral which shows me being taken out on a stretcher. I condemn this video. Shahjahanpur is flooded. Even our college is flooded. Around 300 patients, working staff members, and others are stuck here. We evacuated all the patients, using ambulances and buses,” Mr. Kumar stated.

He explained that the rising water levels prompted him to seek transportation out of the college. “I tried if I could get an ambulance to get out. I have a leg injury and am also diabetic, due to which I am unable to walk. I spoke to my working staff members, and they said they would take me out of the medical college on a stretcher,” Mr. Kumar defended his actions.

The flooding has also impacted traffic on the Lucknow-Bareilly highway in Shahjahanpur, with a significant portion of the road underwater. Moments of merriment of a bride turned into tears of despair as the bridegroom did not turn up along with ‘baraat’ over some last-minute demand for additional dowry. The tragic saga unfolded on Tuesday, July 9, when long angst-ridden hours were wiled out by the waiting bride, awaiting the groom amid much fanfare and jubilation. The wedding procession from Rajthal, that was to take place that day, never turned up despite all preparation and gathering of the guests.

The bride’s father, Dhanpal, claimed that in the evening they patiently waited for a long time that extended till midnight; however, the groom and his processional never came. Horse-drawn carriage and band were sent to fetch the groom but he never accompanied them. When faced with sulking members of his family and disappointed guests, Dhanpal dialed the authorities and informed the police through emergency services. Next morning, realizing that the groom had left the venue intentionally, the bride and her father visited Bisauli police station to file a formal complaint demanding justice for what they termed an extortion bid.

He further said the groom’s family had agreed to a no-extras wedding, but they turned up on the wedding day demanding an additional Rs 4 lakh over and above the settled amount of Rs 8 lakh. When he expressed his inability to pay that amount, the groom’s party did not live up to their commitment, leaving the bride and her family in a lurch.

As the country approaches the final phase of elections, speculation doing that rounds that NDA, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will secure victory. Uttar Pradesh’s role is crucial for NDA to form the government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s influence is a key factor.
Experts are optimistic about BJP’s chances, especially after the Ram temple inauguration. However, caste politics poses challenges. Opposition parties claim BJP will lose seats.

Challenges emerge due to caste dynamics, potentially impacting BJP’s trajectory. Opposition voices suggest a dip in BJP’s fortunes, prompting questions on Chief Minister Yogi and BJP’s strategies to navigate this turbulence.

Sensing the caste complexities, BJP has intensified its campaign. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to all the Union ministers and leaders, they have put all their strength in Uttar Pradesh. Experts had high expectations for BJP in Uttar Pradesh, foreseeing a potential surpassing of the 2014 record. Various estimates were circulating, with projections ranging from 75 to 77 seats.

However, the election announcement brought a sudden shift in the atmosphere. Some experts believe that the promotion of slogan of crossing 400 went wrong. Amidst discussions about reservation, senior officers internally spread negative publicity. Lower-level messages hinted that surpassing 400 seats would end reservation. BJP and central intelligence agencies initially overlooked this misinformation.

Prime Minister Modi clarified later that reservation would not be abolished. Nonetheless, the opposition capitalized on this issue. While caste politics wasn’t initially prominent in Uttar Pradesh, it gained traction in subsequent phases.

BJP countered with issues like PoK, Muslim reservation, and law and order. Despite efforts, BJP struggled to maintain a unified front, with PM and CM taking charge.

Observing the situation, the opposition united and intensified campaigning efforts. Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi actively participated.

The Noida Police have apprehended an individual who stands accused of disseminating a deep fake video featuring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The video, generated using Artificial Intelligence, surfaced online through an account referred to as ‘X,’ attributed to ‘Shyam Gupta RPSU.’ Authorities from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Noida reported that the video, uploaded on May 1, propagated misleading information aimed at bolstering anti-national sentiments.

Following an alert from the Noida Unit of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, charges were filed under sections 468, 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code, and section 66 of the Information Technology Act at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Noida. The accused, identified as Shyam Gupta from Barola in Noida’s Gautam Buddha Nagar, will face further legal proceedings under the jurisdiction of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Noida.

This incident occurred shortly after another instance involving a ‘doctored’ video allegedly featuring Amit Shah, wherein the Union Home Minister was purportedly heard expressing opposition to reservations in the country. On April 30, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police issued summonses to 16 individuals across several states in connection with the dissemination of the fabricated video involving Shah.

Javed, Brother of killer in UP murder case surrenders

The day following a tragic double homicide that stirred tensions in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, the brother of the accused appeared in a widely circulated video asserting his innocence. Subsequently, he turned himself in to authorities late last night.

Sajid, who operated a barber shop near the victims’ residence, perpetrated the brutal murder of two children and injured a third sibling on Tuesday, with the motive still unclear. Attempting to evade capture, he assaulted police officers but was fatally shot in an encounter. Javed, also implicated in the crime, had disappeared after the incident.

In a pre-arrest video, he explained fleeing to Delhi upon witnessing an enraged crowd in Budaun. However, upon arriving in Bareilly to surrender, locals apprehended him and handed him over to the authorities. In the video, Javed pleads his innocence, stating he only learned of his brother’s actions upon receiving calls, emphasizing his desire to cooperate with law enforcement.

Police have verified Javed’s arrest and are transporting him to Budaun for interrogation. Alok Priyadarshi, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Budaun, confirmed Javed’s surrender and indicated that he would be questioned upon arrival.
