</excerpt>

Union Minister Anurag Thakur responded to the Congress leadership following former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s comment about opening the Wagah Border for Pakistanis. Thakur criticized the Congress, suggesting that despite being in India, they often praise Pakistan.

“Their love for Pakistan time and again shows that though leaders of Congress are in India they sing the praises of Pakistan. The elections are not being held in Pakistan but in India. But their thoughts are such that they want to seek the votes of those who support Pakistan,” Thakur stated in an interview with ANI on Monday.

Thakur accused Congress of consistently taking actions that favor Pakistan and being embroiled in numerous defense scandals.

“From the beginning, the strategy of the Congress was such that they converted part of India to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. They could have done so much in our country but they did not. They have repeatedly weakened our Army by taking cuts in international deals like jeep scam, Bofors scam, Augusta Westland scam or the submarine scam. The Congress is known to take cuts in military deals. They did not give One Rank One Pension to former army personnel and now speak about spreading fear and lies among people,” he said.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader further asserted that Congress lacks affection for India and its citizens.

“The most disheartening thing is that their singing praises for Pakistan shows their state of mind and unmasks them. They do not have any love for India or its people. Now they will bring medical patients from Pakistan, which instigates terrorism. But the Congress knows whether patients will come from Pakistan or militants,” Thakur remarked.

Highlighting the significant decisions taken by the BJP during its tenure, Thakur said, “We did what we said. We abrogated Article 370, CAA law was made, triple talaq was ended, and grand Ram temple was built. We made our economy the fifth largest economy in the world…”

When questioned about the upcoming meeting of the INDIA bloc partners on June 1, Anurag Thakur responded, “The meeting will be held to cry. This is because people are going to defeat them in a bad way. They are asking for votes in the name of caste, sections and religions. People are going to keep the Congress and it alliance partners below 40 seats. This is because the country wants to move forward and wants a stable government, wants a responsible leader.”

</excerpt>

Condemning the recent terrorist shootings in Shopian and Anantnag, Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated that these acts are being committed by individuals who are frustrated by the improving conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized, “A few people are causing such incidents because they are discouraged. They should understand that the people of Jammu and Kashmir no longer support separatism, terrorism, or stone-pelting.”

Thakur further asserted that those responsible for these attacks would face severe consequences, noting, “Tourism is increasing day by day, and the morale of many people is going down. Those who indulged in killings in Jammu and Kashmir will be strongly responded to.”

Former Deputy Chief Minister of the erstwhile state, Kavinder Gupta, echoed these sentiments, suggesting the attacks were intended to disrupt the growing tourism sector in the region. Speaking to ANI, Gupta remarked, “There was a record tourist footfall in Kashmir last year, with the number of visitors estimated at 1,70,00,000. Hence, at a time when tourism is looking up and local businesses and livelihoods are booming, the attack was aimed at bringing back the dark days of terror in the region. It was intended to hurt the tourism prospects at a time when there is prosperity all around in Kashmir. I strongly suspect Pakistan to be behind this attack. However, the nefarious designs of people, who carry out terror hits in exchange for money and at the behest of their handlers (across the border) wouldn’t succeed. Their bid to bring back the reign of terror in the Valley will never succeed.”

Meanwhile, a former BJP Sarpanch, Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, was killed, and a couple from Jaipur was injured in two separate terrorist shootings in Shopian and Anantnag districts late Saturday night, according to police reports.

In the second incident, a couple from Jaipur was injured in the Yannar area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The police reported that the terrorists fired upon and injured Farha, a resident of Jaipur, and her spouse, Tabrez, in Yannar, Anantnag. The injured were evacuated to the hospital for treatment, and sources indicate that the couple’s condition is stable.W

Channi alleged that the recent Poonch terror attack was “pre-planned” and questioned the motives behind India’s past wars in 1962, 1965, and 1971. Thakur criticized these statements as “ridiculous” and urged Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to apologize for undermining the credibility of India’s armed forces.

Additionally, Thakur criticized Rahul Gandhi for reportedly meeting with Chinese diplomats during the Doklam standoff, raising concerns about his actions while Indian soldiers were actively responding to Chinese aggression. Thakur called on Rahul Gandhi to clarify his actions to the nation.

In response to Channi’s accusation that the Poonch terror attack was orchestrated to benefit the BJP in elections, BJP leader Rahul Sinha accused Congress of politicizing the incident to divert attention from their anticipated electoral defeat. Sinha questioned the timing of such remarks and accused Congress of resorting to diversionary tactics.

The Poonch terror attack resulted in the tragic death of an Indian Air Force soldier and injuries to four others. Security measures have been heightened in the region following the attack, which occurred just before the Lok Sabha elections in the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency for the 2024 general elections.

These elections in Jammu and Kashmir are part of a phased process spanning from April 19 to May 20, while the nationwide Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.

</excerpt>

Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a scathing criticism against leaders of the INDIA bloc, asserting that while opposition figures were preoccupied with “abusing” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his stature had steadily risen on the global stage over the past decade.

“… Initially you wanted to do ‘tukde tukde’ of the country and now you want to do the same to PM Narendra Modi. First, they would go and stand with the ‘tukde tukde’ gang, now they include those advocating ‘tukde tukde’ into their gang…,” the Minister for Information and Broadcasting said.

The pointed comments were made during a press briefing held on Sunday in New Delhi.

“They neither have a leader, nor a policy, nor an intention. They have changed the name of their UPA alliance, but their real face remains the same… ‘wo chalate rahe gaaliyon ka patthar, magar Modiji badhate rahe Bharat ka star’ (They continued to abuse, But Modiji enhanced prestige of India) …,” he said.

“Yesterday one minister of INDI alliance, in front of a female leader of his party, used very derogatory remarks in a very objectionable language for the Prime Minister of the country. The words he used for the most popular leader in the world are condemnable, and there is no place for such things in a democracy,” he said.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and leaders of the INDIA bloc have been engaging in verbal sparring over the “no family” jibe.

Previously, during the party’s ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna, Lalu Yadav remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi merely fosters animosity under the guise of religion.

“These days he is talking about dynastic politics. You (PM Modi) don’t have a family. You are not even a Hindu. When your mother died, every Hindu, as per tradition, shaves his beard and head. Why did you not shave? You only spread hatred in society,” RJD Chief Lalu Yadav said.

The INDIA bloc is a coalition of opposition parties established to challenge the BJP-led Union government in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the dates for which were disclosed earlier this month.

However, the opposition’s anti-BJP coalition is encountering difficulties in reaching consensus on seat-sharing arrangements ahead of the general elections.

Previously, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who played a prominent role in the alliance, exited the coalition and aligned with the BJP-led NDA.

The polling for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place in seven phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding on June 1. The election results are slated to be announced on June 4.

</excerpt>

Reacting to Karnataka Minister DK Suresh’s controversial statement about the possibility of demanding a separate nation, Union Minister Anurag Thakur emphasized that the BJP is committed to preventing any division within the country. Condemning Suresh’s remarks, Thakur expressed concern, stating, “Mohabbat Ki Dukan mein Nafrat Ka Saman bik raha hai (In the shop of love, things of hatred are being sold).” He asserted the BJP’s determination to safeguard the unity of the nation, declaring, “We will not let the country be divided. First, we saved the country from their loot, and now we will save the country from being divided.”

Opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, also strongly denounced any talks of dividing the country. Addressing the House, Kharge, the Congress national president, asserted, “From Kanyakumari to Kashmir, the country and its people are one and will remain so.” He made it clear that any individual advocating for the breakup of the country would not be tolerated, regardless of party affiliation, stating, “Anyone who speaks of breaking the country can’t be tolerated, regardless of which party he belongs to. Mallikarjun Kharge will be the first to say that from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, we are one and we will be so.”

The controversy originated when DK Suresh, a Lok Sabha MP from Bengaluru and the brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, claimed that the southern states were facing injustice as the Centre was collecting significant taxes from them but not allocating a fair share in return. Suresh warned that if this perceived injustice continued, there could be a demand for a separate nation. He argued, “If the government doesn’t go in for necessary course correction, all southern states will have to raise the demand for a separate country.”

</excerpt>

Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its allies, specifically targeting DMK MP Senthil Kumar for his disparaging remarks about Hindi-speaking states following the BJP’s recent assembly election victory.

Thakur accused the Congress of consistently demeaning Hindus, North Indians, and Sanatan Dharma, emphasizing that the party is allegedly attempting to erase India’s cultural identity. He criticized the Congress for resorting to abusive rhetoric after their defeat and accused them of conspiring to divide the nation and insult Hindutva.

He further slammed the Congress for their allegations against electronic voting machines (EVMs) and their refusal to investigate the reasons for their electoral losses. Thakur claimed that the Congress lacks strong leadership and clear policies, and they continuously blame EVMs while disregarding the significance of constitutional institutions.

Digvijaya Singh, a senior Congress leader, recently alleged the vulnerability of machines with chips, emphasizing his opposition to EVMs since 2003. Thakur highlighted these remarks as part of the Congress’s strategy to discredit the electoral process.

Anurag Thakur also brought up remarks made by Telangana CM designate Revanth Reddy, in which Reddy allegedly stated that Telangana’s DNA was superior to Bihar’s. Thakur questioned whether Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi approved of such statements, claiming that Congress and its allies have a pre-planned conspiracy to make derogatory remarks about Hindus and Indians.

Thakur’s criticism centered on the Congress party’s alleged divisive politics, accusing them of targeting specific regions and communities to sow discord and promote an agenda that undermines India’s cultural fabric.

During his speech at a public rally in Bhilwara, Thakur commented “‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ is what we believe in…We will rid Rajasthan of corruption, criminality against women, document leaks, and the “jungle raj” if we take power there. We’ll set up ‘Ram Rajya’.” He said, “Congress is ashamed of Sanatana Dharma; they want to put a stop to Sanatana Dharma; they want to belittle Hindus; and they want to destroy the Constitution. Anurag Thakur spoke at the public event and made a number of other accusations against the Ashok Gehlot administration in Rajasthan.

Thakur accused the Congress administration of “engaging in pleasing brother-in-law (Robert Vadra) and Rahul Gandhi” while indirectly criticizing the Gandhi family.

</excerpt>

Every year, a lot of time is spent in the country to conduct elections, which could be wisely invested in the nation’s development, Union minister Anurag Thakur said on Monday, commenting on the Centre’s prospect of holding simultaneous elections in the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipal bodies, and panchayats under the one nation, one election drive.

While highlighting the benefits of such a move, Thakur stated that millions of crores of rupees are spent on elections by competing parties on both sides every year, which might potentially be avoided.

“In elections, a lot of time is consumed every year. If that time is invested mindfully in the development of the nation, then the country will get the benefit. The government and the candidates spend thousands of crores on conducting elections.

“If it happens at the same time, then a lot of money could be saved. All in all, it is for the benefit of the nation. If the opposition has a better solution, they can give it,” the Union minister told the reporters.

Earlier, the Centre announced the formation of an eight-member committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind to investigate the feasibility of implementing the one-nation, one-vote campaign.

The Kovind group would investigate the feasibility and method of holding Lok Sabha and state assembly elections concurrently. These polls were in place until 1967. Following the statement, the Opposition and the government engaged in a political brawl.

</excerpt>

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said here on Wednesday that the union cabinet has approved a fair and remunerative price for sugarcane farmers of Rs 315 per quintal, the highest ever.

He stated that sugar procurement has increased to Rs 1,13,000 crore, with total procurement totaling Rs 7,86,066 crore from 2014 to 23. Addressing a press conference, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister said, “PM Modi has always been in support of farmers, that’s why the ministry was named ‘Agriculture and Farmers Welfare’. The cabinet has approved the highest-ever fair and remunerative price of Rs 315/quintal for sugarcane farmers for the sugar season 2023-24.”

“The decision will benefit 5 crore sugarcane farmers and their dependents, as well as 5 lakh workers employed in the sugar mills and related ancillary activities,” he added.

In comparison to previous governments, the Union Minister stated that the BJP government has made timely payments to sugarcane farmers.

“In 2013-14, the rate was Rs 210 per quintal, with a total procurement of around Rs 97,104 crore.” Under the BJP government, it has risen to Rs 1,13,000 crore. The total procurement under the UPA regime was Rs 2,71,204 crore. While procurement of Rs 7,86,066 crore has already been completed for 2014-23. Sugarcane farmers had to block roads and protest for their payments at the time. However, in recent years, all payments have been made on time, and all backlogs have been cleared,” he said.

He went on to say that the scheme of mixing ethanol with crude oil has also proven to be beneficial in a variety of ways.

“Prime Minister Modi has emphasized the importance of blending ethanol with crude oil, as well as gasoline and diesel.” Rs 20,500 crore has been set aside for this purpose. This demonstrates that they now have more cash; previously, they were overstocked and farmers did not receive payments. It has strengthened our Atmanirbharta, reduced the use of foreign exchange, and fueled the growth of the ethanol sector,” Thakur added.
