</excerpt>

Broadly speaking the history of India’s freedom struggle finds its first and foremost mention from the great uprise of 1857, A ‘terrible beauty’ was born with the legends like Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope and Rani Laxami Bai who like a mythical bird Phoenix rose from their own ashes and sowed the seeds of India’s nine decade later freedom. These sacred names still reverberate in our ears and make us proud. After the glorious rebellion of 1857 the freedom movement of India never ceased and many more new images of valiant revolutionaries began to bedeck the galaxy of freedom fighters. On the one hand the ghastly oppressions of the English dictators were rising and on the other were also rising the big bands of crusaders with a vow to banish the Britishers. Revolutionaries of India 1857-1947 is one such book which chronicles all these patriotic and sublime accounts. The book righteously introduces the readers with many unsung patriots who did not even budge an inch in the face of the adversities.
This newly released book “Revolutionaries of India 1857-1947” which has been diligently complied by Ravi Valluri and Lakshmi Valluri is a remarkable tribute to the sons and daughters of soil. These forty writers who hail from the different corners of India have thrown light on the unstinting services and selfless sacrifices of many hitherto unknown or lesser-known revolutionaries who kissed the noose unflinchingly for the sake of the freedom of our nation. As we read this book, we are bound to have a sense of deep agony inside our hearts and experience profound remorse also which overwhelms us for neglecting the contributions of these selfless revolutionaries.
Unfortunately, the society we dwell in, is deeply steeped in the old fossilized notion of pervert patriarchy. Be it our scriptures or the History books, the heroes have always been males only. It is these mighty men who call the shorts in every walk of life. But the most remarkable feature of this book is its inclusion of many women warriors whose names we might not have even heard of so far. Certainly the book has successfully demolished the gender based demarcations. Therefore, a literary critic will indubitably be tempted to call it a sublime work not only in the patriotic genre of literature but in feministic folds also.
The write ups Rukmini Lakshmipathi by Ishwar Achanta and Bengali women and the Freedom Movement, The Forgotten Tigresses by Dr Arpita Dutta Sutradhar; and A Symbol of Resilience and Sacrifice by Kamalika Mazumder deserve a special mention. The entire book has a smooth , absorbing and extremely lucid narrative. A very few of us are aware that one Chittu Pandey played the most significant role in liberating Ballia district from the fetters of British rule much before India achieved its full-fledged freedom. We have always been focused on Gandhi , Nehru and Sardar Patel whereas many more revolutionaries remained just subdued. These iconic figures like Uda Devi, Badal , Binod and Dinesh who gained no recognition thus far have been given a proper justice in this book. Having read this book, every historian will remark that history needs to be reviewed and rewritten. Such is authenticity of this book that it must be prescribed in our college and university curriculum.

A recent report highlights the emotional impact of Prince Harry’s tribute at his late uncle’s funeral, which left many attendees deeply moved and surprised.

Despite earlier speculation that he might not attend, Prince Harry made the trip across the Atlantic to honor his late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes. According to a source who spoke with PEOPLE, the memorial service was highly emotional, and Harry’s heartfelt tribute astonished those present.

One attendee remarked on Harry’s unexpected presence, noting, “Most people were astounded that Harry came. He was in remarkably good spirits and seemed very pleased to see everyone. He was glad he made the journey.”

The funeral took place on August 29, just two days before the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, adding to the significance of Harry’s visit. Although his brother, Prince William, was also there, the brothers reportedly did not interact, despite ongoing speculation about their relationship.

During the service at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, Prince Harry and Prince William sat with different groups of their maternal cousins. Reports indicate that Harry did not visit his father, King Charles, at Balmoral Castle, where the King is undergoing cancer treatment.

While the funeral did not lead to the expected family reunions, Harry spent meaningful time with his maternal relatives, including Fellowes’s widow, Lady Jane, Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer, and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Both princes have strong ties to their mother’s side of the family. Fellowes’ daughter Laura is a godmother to Princess Charlotte, and some Spencers had previously supported Harry at a service in May for his Invictus Games.

A royal insider commented on Harry’s attendance, stating, “It was lovely and appropriate that he came to pay his respects.” Another source suggested that, given recent health challenges within the royal family, Harry is seeking closer connections with his relatives, reflecting his deep bond with his mother’s side of the family.

Heartfelt Letter and Cherished Memories

In a heartfelt letter, Saira Banu reflected on their journey together, sharing touching anecdotes from their life.
Endearing Anecdotes and Personal Moments

While remembering the victims of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack that shook the nation, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, Terrorism threatens humanity. He also said those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice.

“Terrorism threatens humanity. Today, on 26/11, the world joins India in remembering its victims. Those who planned and oversaw this attack must be brought to justice. We owe this to every victim of terrorism around the world,” Jaishankar tweeted.

In 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists (LeT) carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks killing at least 166 people and leaving 300 wounded. Last month, India hosted the two-day anti-terrorism meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), under India’s chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC).

During UNSC’s special meeting, Jaishankar highlighted that the global threat of terrorism is growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, despite the UNSC’s best efforts to combat the “gravest threat to humanity”.

“Terrorism remains the gravest threat to humanity. The UN Security Council in the past two decades has evolved an important architecture built, primarily around the counter-terrorism sanctions regime to combat this menace. This has effectively put the countries on notice that had turned terrorism into a state-funded enterprise. Despite this, the threat of terrorism is only growing and expanding, particularly in Asia and Africa, as successive reports of 1267 sanctions committee monitoring reports have highlighted,” he added.

Jaishnkar told CTC members that their presence in Delhi at the special meeting demonstrated the importance that the UNSC member states and a wide range of stakeholders, place on this critical and emerging facet of terrorism.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakahand’s CM paid tribute to the martyrs of the state at the martyrs memorial in the court on the occasion of the state foundation day.

Dhami said, “It has been 22 years since the foundation of the state of Uttarakhand. I pay my respects to the martyrs and revolutionaries of the state. We are determined to build Uttarakhand as per their visions.”

Uttarakhand was founded in 2000 as the 27th state of India on this day. The state was carved out of Uttar Pradesh on 9th November 2000,under the BJP government after a long-drawn distress. On State Foundation Day in Dehradun, the Chief Minister also opened an exhibition held at the BJP office.

On Uttarakhand’s statehood day on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the state and praised its residents for their extraordinary contributions to nation-building in a variety of fields.
Additionally, he hoped that Uttarakhand will continue to advance in the years to come. PM Modi tweeted on the occasion, “Statehood Day greetings to the people of Uttarakhand. This is a state closely associated with nature and spirituality. People from this state are making phenomenal contributions, across many sectors, to nation-building. May Uttarakhand keeps progressing in the coming years.”

In order to become a state, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal was founded in the 1990s, during which time a sizable statehood movement swept the area. It persisted for many years. The state of Uttarakhand was subsequently created, at first under the name of Uttaranchal. On August 28, 2000, K. R. Narayanan, the president at the time, gave his approval to the measure, which later became an act. Uttaranchal was finally called Uttarakhand on January 1st, 2007.

The Sanskrit term for “Northern City” is where the name Uttarakhand originates. Its name was changed to Uttarakhand on January 1st, 2007. One of the most popular tourist attractions in India, the state is a fusion of culture, race, and religion. Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Tibet, and Nepal are some of the bordering states of Uttarakhand.

Havaldar Darpan Pradhan made the supreme sacrifice on October 21 while he was deployed on the Siachen Glacier. The Indian Army on Sunday paid tribute to the martyred soldier.

The Indian Army’s Northern Command earlier this month discovered the corpse of a soldier who had been missing for 38 years during “Operation Meghdoot” in 1984. An operation of the Indian military known as “Operation Meghdoot” was started on April 13 of that year, 38 years ago.

The Siachen Conflict began in 1984 when a military operation to seize the Siachen Glacier in Jammu and Kashmir was initiated. This military operation was distinctive since it was the first to be launched at the highest battleground in the world. Indian troops were able to take control of the entire Siachen Glacier as a result of the military action.
According to the Indian Army, Lance Naik late Chander Sekhar had been missing in Siachen since May 29, 1984.

“LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was identified with the help of the identification disk bearing his Army number which was entangled along with the mortal remains,” it said, adding that further details were recovered from official Army records.

The late soldier had been deployed for Operation Meghdoot at Gyongla Glacier in 1984, according to the Indian Army’s records.

“A patrol of Indian Army recovered the mortal remains of LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar who was missing since 29 May 1984 while deployed at glacier due to an avalanche,” the Northern Command of Indian Army said in a tweet.

India and Pakistan have been at war with each other on and off since 1984, with the Siachen Glacier serving as the highest battleground on the planet. Both countries have a permanent military presence in the region at a height of over 6,000 meters (20,000 ft) (20,000 ft). More than 2,000 soldiers have lost their lives in this hostile environment, most frequently as a result of meteorological catastrophes and the inherent dangers of mountain warfare.

On the 115th birth anniversary of Indian Revolutionary Bhagat Singh, several politicians and political parties paid tribute to the legend. A senior Congress MP, Jairam Ramesh shared Nehru’s tribute to Bhagat Singh.
In an attempt to mock BJP, Ramesh said that parties whose ideology he would have “bitterly opposed are trying to appropriate his legacy.”
In an article published in The Bombay Chronicle, Jawaharlal Nehru revealed the reason behind his “absolute silence” during Bhagat Singh’s last days.
The MP said that the pillar of Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is what the revolutionary fought for.
“Today is the 21st day of #BharatJodoYatra & 115th birth anniversary of great revolutionary Bhagat Singh. Parties whose ideology he’d have bitterly opposed are trying to appropriate his legacy, whereas pillars of @bharatjodo are what he fought for. Sharing Nehru’s 1931 tribute to him,” Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communication, posted on Twitter.

Nehru wrote in his tribute letter, published in The Bombay Chronicle, “I have remained silent during their last days lest a word of mine may injure the prospect of commutation. I have remained silent though I felt like bursting, and now all is over. Not all of us could save him who was so dear to us and whose magnificent courage and sacrifice have been an inspiration to the youth of India. India today cannot even save her dearly loved children from the gallows.”

Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev were executed on March 23, 1931, in Lahore for their involvement in the Lahore Conspiracy Case.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among the world leaders attending the funeral of Shinzo Abe, who died in July after being shot at during a campaign speech. Hundreds of world leaders and thousands of people gathered in Tokyo to pay their respects to Japan’s longest-serving prime minister.

Here are the most recent updates on Shinzo Abe’s funeral:

1. PM Modi shared details of his Tokyo visit in a tweet on Monday night, saying he would be paying his respects to Abe, whom he remembered as “a dear friend and a great champion of India-Japan friendship.”

2. Prior to the funeral, Modi met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. “Today, in this hour of grief, we gather. I had a lengthy conversation with former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe the last time I visited. India mourns Shinzo Abe and remembers him and Japan “PM Modi was quoted.

3. “I’ve faith that under your leadership, India-Japan relations will deepen and scale new heights and we will be able to play an appropriate role in solving the problems of the world,” he further said.

4. PM Modi met with Abe several times during his tenure. When Abe’s death was confirmed on July 8, PM Modi paid tribute to “one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe.” “He was a towering global statesman, a brilliant leader, and a brilliant administrator.” “He devoted his life to making Japan and the world a better place,” he wrote.

5. Among those in attendance are US Vice President Kamala Harris, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

6. In response to criticism about the event’s cost, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida stated that the country’s longest-serving premier deserves the honour. The funeral will be held at Tokyo’s Budokan hall. According to reports, the government estimated that 1.7 billion yen (USD 11.8 million) would be required for the venue, security, transportation, and guest accommodations.

7. As expected, Tokyo experienced increased security as a large number of high-profile visitors arrived.

8. The event was attended by over 4,000 people, including Japanese lawmakers.

9. Abe’s ashes were carried to the venue, and an honour guard fired 19 rounds from a cannon. The former Japanese Prime Minister had previously received a private funeral.

10. On July 8, Abe was assassinated while delivering a speech for an election campaign.
