Taiwanese Artist Creates Gun That Freezes Her Tears, Fires Them At Those Who Hurt Her

A Taiwanese artist, Yi Fei Chen, has designed a unique tear gun that converts her tears into icy projectiles for use against those who offend her. The inspiration came from an argument with her teacher over an assignment that made her feel helpless and angry.

Chen was not able to articulate her feelings since she was born in Taiwan, where defiance of authority is not encouraged. “I had a confrontation with my teacher, but I didn’t really agree with him. I felt like I couldn’t speak up. I was frustrated and angry. Then the tears came,” she said according to Asia One.

Instead of seeing her tears as defeat, she wondered, “What if this happens again? How can I change the situation?” That is what brought her to design the tear gun, which would be her graduation project when studying in the Netherlands.

How the Tear Gun Works

The tear gun is as intriguing as its concept. It collects tears, freezes them within 20 seconds with carbon dioxide from a high-pressure bottle, and launches them as small ice projectiles through a spring-loaded system.

He shows the same teacher that had argued with him Chen’s tear-powered invention. As if in a surprise twist, he was impressed at the result, saying: “He was quite happy with the result, even though it was something created against him.”

Years after its inception in 2016, the tear gun continues to capture attention worldwide. On her Instagram, a pinned post showcases the tear gun in action. Allu Arjun Requests HC For Urgent Hearing, To Be Heard On Monday

Actor Allu Arjun, who is an accused in the stampede incident in Sandhya Theater, was surprisingly picked up by the police this morning. The actor filed an urgent petition in the High Court after being taken into custody by the Chikkadapalli police yesterday.

Allu Arjun’s lawyer, Niranjan Reddy, requested an urgent hearing of the petition. The court asked whether urgent petitions could only be addressed at 10:30 am to which Reddy clarified that the petition had been filed on Wednesday and that the police had been notified about it. In response, the court scheduled the hearing for Monday.

He told the court that owing to court staff being busy, the case number might not have been placed on it, and requested it be taken on as a lunch motion. The government lawyer opposed this, saying that it is improper to have it heard at 1:30 pm. Reddy then asked the court to direct the police not to take any step in the case until Monday. The government lawyer countered, however, that they could only update on it after consulting the police.

The case will be heard at 2:30 pm.

A case of suicide by an engineer from Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur, Atul Subhash, who was working in Bengaluru, has sparked huge debate on men’s rights and harassment that may happen after marriage. This incident has brought up the debate on social media regarding cultural norms, legal frameworks, and balance between gender-related laws.

An elderly video dated 2006 on erstwhile women and child development minister Renuka Chowdhury appears, stoking fresh trouble. Here, Chowdhury has been speaking with regards to domestic violence acts that law makes on “Let men suffer.”

During the interview, she was asked by a journalist a question about parts of the bill she was advocating for, pointing out concerns over potential misuse. Responding to this, she said, “If the so-called innocent husband is innocent and his behavior and attitude towards his partner is of mutual respect, then there is no anxiety and no need for men to suddenly feel victims.”

When questioned regarding the amendments to the law in the future, Chowdhury said, “There’s always a need for corrections and amendments in any law as we progress, as a society develops and the needs arise. But for what? Hypothetically, before we reach the bridge and cross it if you want me to make amendments, I won’t.”

On whether men should suffer before changes to the Act are made, she responded humorously, “That’s not a bad idea except I have such pity for men.” She also emphasized, “Any law is better than no law at all” when it comes to protecting women.

A 28-year-old Chinese student, Xu Guangli, has taken the internet by storm with his weekly international commute to maintain a long-distance relationship while completing his master’s degree in arts management at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. For three months, Xu made weekly round trips from Shandong, China to Melbourne, balancing his studies and his love life.

Xu’s weekly journey began in August and lasted 11 weeks, with each round trip taking three days. He would leave his hometown, Dezhou, at 7 a.m. and travel to Jinan to catch a flight to Melbourne, with a layover en route. He attended his class, spent the night at a friend’s place to save money, and returned home the next day.

In an interview with Dazhong Daily, Xu explained, “It was my last semester, and I only needed one class to meet the graduation requirements. More importantly, my girlfriend had returned to China, and life in Melbourne on my own was lonely.” Xu has been studying in Australia for eight years, and his decision to travel back and forth was also motivated by his desire to understand China’s domestic work environment, which he believed would benefit his career.

Documenting his travels on social media, Xu quickly gained nearly 10,000 followers. In one of his videos, he broke down the costs of his weekly trips, which amounted to 6,700 yuan ($920). This included return flight tickets, taxi fares, and meals. Xu added, “Despite the costs exceeding the 10,000 yuan monthly rent I paid in Melbourne, the money and effort were worth it for love—and the good food at home.”

Xu’s journeys also allowed him to explore various Chinese cities and even visit Vietnam during one of his trips. ED Names Delhi CM Kejriwal As Accused In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a new supplementary chargesheet, naming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the first time as an accused in the money laundering case associated with the now-defunct Delhi liquor excise policy for 2021-22 on Friday. The central investigative agency also named the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as an accused in the case.

The ED informed the Supreme Court that it found chats between Arvind Kejriwal and hawala operators concerning the alleged proceeds of crime related to the excise policy case.

The agency claims these chats were recovered from the devices of hawala operators after Kejriwal refused to share the password to his devices.
