This Album By Taylor Swift Topped Global Charts On Spotify In 2024

December 6, 2024, 6:57 pm

Taylor Swift has once again solidified her position as a global music powerhouse, being named Spotify’s most-streamed artist for the second consecutive year in 2024, amassing over 26.6 billion streams.

Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, released in April during her Eras Tour, not only became the most-streamed album of the year but also set records for the most streams in a single day and surpassed one billion streams within a week of its release.

Despite these monumental achievements, Swift’s singles did not claim the top spot individually. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” was the most-streamed song on Spotify in 2024, followed by Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” FloyyMenor and Cris Mj’s “Gata Only,” and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.” Notably, Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” from her 2019 album Lover, secured the ninth position among the top ten most-streamed songs globally.

Expressing her gratitude, Swift took to Instagram Stories, stating, “Top Streamed Artist AND Album on @spotify this year?! You guys are unbelievable.” She added, “What an amazing thing to find out going into our last weekend of eras shows THANK YOU!”

This recognition comes on the heels of Swift being named the top artist of 2024 on both Amazon Music and Apple Music, with The Tortured Poets Department being the top album on both platforms. She shared her appreciation on Instagram Stories, saying, “Ahhhhhh thank you for listening to my music and TTPD so much!!!!! You, the fans, made The Tortured Poets Department the TOP STREAMED ALBUM of The Year on @applemusic!!!” She continued, “You guys snagged me that Top Streamed Artist spot too.”

In addition to her streaming success, Swift was named Billboard’s second greatest pop star of the 21st century, following Beyoncé. Demonstrating her support, Swift expressed happiness for the pop icon’s achievement.

Is the title track of Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ worth the hype? | Review

April 30, 2024, 5:24 pm

Renowned singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is an integral part of the music fraternity. The 14-time Grammy Award winner released her latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, on April 19. This came shortly after she won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Midnights’ on February 4, 2024.

TTPD originally comprised 16 songs. However, Taylor surprised fans by expanding it to 31 songs spread across the themes of heartbreak and betrayal.

The title track, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ gained worldwide attention right after its release. Taylor captured the pain of heartbreak through fine lines of poetry. Let’s dive deep into the theme song to analyze whether it’s worth the hype.

‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Has a Distinct Vintage Vibe. Taylor Swift has written ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ with the idea of capturing the magic of the decades gone by. The lyrics describe an item of affection, ‘typewriter’ which was popular during the 90s

In trademark Taylor Swift style, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ features detailed storytelling and a soft musical arrangement. The track captures the unspoken feelings associated with a relationship. Taylor is known to create upbeat songs but with this, she has proved she can compose sad ones as well.

Is This Song About Matty Healy?

Fans have been speculating whether the song is written for Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Matty Healy. The Grammy Award winner has left a few references that point toward her short-lived romance with Matty in early 2023.

Here are some point-blank references in the theme song that suggest that it was written for Matty Healy:

Reference to Typewriters: One of the most obvious signs that the theme song of TTPD is written for Matty is the reference to typewriters. Healy stated his ‘love for the typewriters’ in a 2019 interview with GQ. The lyrics open as: ‘You left your typewriter at my apartment, straight from The Tortured Poets Department.’
‘Tattooed Golden Retriever’: Taylor might have swiftly hinted towards Matty with the ‘tattooed golden retriever’ reference. Matty Healy has multiple tattoos on his body which has left Swifties suspecting that it is written for Matty.
Charlie Puth Reference: Taylor playfully brings up her admiration for Charlie Puth with the lines, ‘You smokеd, then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.’ For those who don’t know, in 2018, Healy expressed his admiration for Puth on Twitter, stating, “Charlie Puth and Boyz II Men track is harrrrrd,” which appears to refer to the song “If You Leave Me Now.”

However, Taylor is yet to react to this speculation.

Personal Touch

Taylor Swift creates music in a thought-provoking way with a unique personal touch. She has used a lot of names throughout the song and this makes it feel authentic and emotionally rich. Taylor has also given a shout-out to Dylan Thomas and Patty Smith with her self-deprecating humour with the lines, ‘You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith, This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel, we’re modern idiots.’

In case you didn’t know, Dylan Thomas was a Welsh poet known for his charisma and struggles with alcoholism. Patti Smith is a punk-rock icon celebrated for her profound and impactful lyrics. The Chelsea Hotel served as a hub for ground-breaking artists and hosted guests ranging from Mark Twain to Madonna.

Final Thoughts

Taylor’s latest hit is as exceptional as her previous work. From ‘Taylor Swift’ to ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, Swift has only created magic out of grief and failed romances. The gloomy-romantic TTPD is another golden feather in the songwriter’s hat.

Taylor Swift released ‘The Tortured Poet Department’ as a double album on April 19 with a total of 31 songs.

TTPD: Taylor Swift’s ex Matty Healy reacts to alleged ‘diss track’

April 25, 2024, 4:21 pm

The lead singer of The 1975, Matty Healy, has subtly acknowledged Taylor Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ which has sparked intense speculation about its lyrics and possible references to past relationships. While not going into detail about Swift’s album, Healy hinted that he is familiar with it and expressed optimism about its quality.

In a short interview with Variety, Healy was asked to comment on Swift’s supposed ‘diss track’ on the album. He responded diplomatically, saying, “My diss track? I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good.”

Released on April 19, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has captivated fans who have closely analyzed its lyrics, suggesting connections to Swift’s romantic experiences, including her rumored relationship with Healy. While the interviewer mentioned a single diss track, there is ongoing speculation that multiple songs on the album may reference their brief romance.

Interestingly, Swift’s lyrics seem to subtly reflect Healy’s interests and personality. For example, on the title track, she mentions a love for typewriters, an item Healy has previously expressed fondness for. Additionally, the lyric “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,” seems to echo Healy’s past admiration for Puth.

Swift’s song ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ appears to address the tumultuous nature of the scandal, possibly reflecting on the public scrutiny of her relationship with Healy.

Despite the speculation surrounding the album’s lyrics, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has achieved immense success, breaking records and receiving widespread acclaim. It recently made history on Spotify as the first album to reach a billion streams within a week of its release.

Industry analysts anticipate impressive sales figures for the album, projecting sales of over two million copies in its debut week.

April 25, 2024, 2:41 pm

Donna Kelce, mother of Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, has expressed admiration for Taylor Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ calling it Swift’s “best work yet.” Released on April 19, the album has received widespread praise from fans and critics alike.

In an interview with People magazine, Kelce, who is the mother of Swift’s boyfriend Travis, shared her thoughts on the album, saying, “I listened to the whole album, and I listened to it all morning long when it was released.” She added, “I was just very impressed. She is a very talented woman, and I think it is probably her best work.”

Kim Kardashian wishes to end feud with Taylor Swift

April 24, 2024, 3:43 pm

Kim Kardashian has indicated her willingness to end the longstanding feud with Taylor Swift, especially after the release of Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ which contains a track seemingly directed at Kardashian. A source close to Kardashian revealed to People magazine that she is ready to move past the drama and hopes Swift will do the same.

“Kim Kardashian wants Taylor Swift to ‘move on’ from their years-old feud after the singer dropped an apparent diss track about the Skims founder,” the insider said. Kardashian reportedly doesn’t understand why Swift continues to dwell on the feud, especially given the passage of time.

Swift’s surprise album release, particularly the song ‘thanK you aIMee,’ has reignited speculation about her feud with Kardashian. In the track, Swift addresses dealing with a bully who only made her stronger, with some fans noting the clever use of capital letters spelling out Kardashian’s name.

The feud reportedly began in 2016 when Kanye West, Kardashian’s former husband, referenced Swift in his song ‘Famous,’ leading to a public dispute between Swift and the Kardashian-West camp. Despite attempts to clarify the situation, including the release of an edited phone call by Kardashian, the feud persisted, taking a toll on Swift’s mental health.

In an interview with People magazine, Swift opened up about the ordeal, describing the impact as psychologically devastating. She highlighted the public backlash and breach of trust caused by the leaked phone call, likening it to a “career death.”

Despite Kardashian’s reported desire for closure, she recently sparked controversy by sharing a photo with Swift’s former friend, Karlie Kloss, on social media. The move, seen by many as a subtle dig, raised eyebrows among fans given the history between Swift and Kloss.

While Kardashian appears to be seeking reconciliation, it remains to be seen whether Swift will heed her call to “move on” or if the drama will persist.

Page Six reports that tracks from the album were leaked online, allegedly from a Google Drive connection that had 17 songs. Swift had previously stated that there would be 11 tracks on her 11th studio album.

Fans are divided over the leaked samples; some doubt their veracity and wonder if artificial intelligence was used to create them. Some followers voiced their displeasure, calling the leakers “fake Swifties,” while others encouraged their fellow fans to stop listening to the leaks and report them.

“In the midst or Device’s Volume COMPLETELY OFF on Twitter for the NEXT 24 HRS and REPORT EVERY POST spamming about album leaks! We got this!” one ardent fan on X posted.

Decoding The Reasons Behind Taylor Swift’s Immense Popularity | Explained

April 14, 2024, 11:15 am

Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is a sensation in the music industry. With 14 Grammys to her name, she is all set to unveil her new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. It will be released on April 19.

For those who may not know, Swift signed with Big Machine Records in 2005 and picked momentum with her albums ‘Taylor Swift’ (2006) and ‘Fearless’ (2008). She has worked on 11 albums so far and has hundreds of songs under her belt. From ‘Red’ to ‘Midnights’, every album features sharp storytelling and evokes feelings ranging from love to disappointment.

Taylor, who is loved by millions of ‘Swifties’ across the globe, is a brand in the truest sense. Let’s decode what gives her the edge over her contemporaries.

Relatable Songs

From speaking about her insecurities in ‘Anti-Hero’ to portraying the urge to escape the double life of being a celebrity in ‘Delicate’, Taylor Swift is known to make songs based on her personal experiences. Swift exhibits a deep lyrical knowledge in spinning stories of heartbreak, unrequited love, high-school romance, and much more.

Taylor often creates songs based on her past relationships and lovers. For instance, she wrote ‘Style’ after a brief affair with singer Harry Styles. Similarly, fans feel that ‘Midnight Rain’ was written for Tom Hiddleston. Whether expressing regret in ‘Back to December’ about Taylor Lautner or addressing John Mayer in the clever ‘Dear John,’ Taylor has never shied away from expressing raw emotions through her work.

This makes her songs feel real, which is responsible for her cult following.

Storytelling Approach

Taylor is known fo storytelling skills and she uses them in her songs. From presenting a modern take on Romeo-Juliet in ‘Love Story’ to creating the other side of the time-old ‘Cinderella’ in ‘Bejeweled’, Swift has used this narrative style of songwriting to captivate her fans.

Songs like ‘Fifteen’, ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘You Belong With Me’ capture the essence of teenage crushes which is again something Swifties connect with. On the other hand, songs like ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ stir feelings of betrayal and ‘coming back stronger’.

Cinematic Excellence

Taylor’s music videos are synonymous with stunning visuals. ‘Lover’, ‘Enchanted’, ‘Willow’, and ‘Me’ are fine examples of this aspect. Taylor created one of the most iconic music videos for her song ‘Bad Blood’ where she brought 17 Hollywood stars including Selena Gomez, Zendeya, and Kendrick Lamar together. Her song ‘Love Story’ is also set against a fairytale-ish backdrop, making it one of the most defining songs of Swift’s music career.

Majestic on-Stage Presence

Taylor’s recent ‘Eras Tours 2023’ proves that she is a songwriter and a great performer. Swift put a tremendous amount of energy and effort into the planning and execution of her concerts and tours. The Eras Tour especially created a buzz throughout 2023 as there were 69,000 fans in attendance. Her opening night became the most-attended female concert in US history, surpassing Madonna, who had held the record for 36 years. The tour comprises 152 shows worldwide, spanning five continents. The concert was later turned into a film, which hit screens globally. Taylor performed in various countries including Singapore, Mexico, and Brazil.

Meanwhile, her upcoming album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ is all set to be released on April 19 worldwide

During her 66th Grammy Awards winning speech, Swift acknowledged her friends Jack Antonoff and Lana Del Rey.”I have the opportunity to collaborate with a producer who is not only among my closest friends but also a once-in-a-generation talent. That would be Jack Antonoff. I’m very fortunate,” she said.

She added, “But I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren’t for the work that (Lana has) done. I think she’s a legacy artist, a legend in her prime right now. I’m so lucky to know you and to be your friend.”

Swift also mentioned the things that bring her happiness in the industry. “I would love to tell you that this is the best moment in my life. But I feel this happy when I finished a song or when I cracked the code to a bridge that I love or when I’m shot listing a music video, or when I’m rehearsing with my dancers or my band or getting ready to go to Tokyo to play a show,” she said, teasing the 2024 start of The Eras Tour next week.”

“For me, the award is the work. All I want to do is keep being able to do this. I love it so much. It makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too. All I want to do is keep doing this. So thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to do what I love so much,” Swift concluded.
