Police launch investigation.
</excerpt>

Nearly a month after the news of the murder of Indore’s Raja Raghuvanshi sent the country into shock, a purportedly similar case has been reported from Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool.

Telangana Man Tejeshwar Found Dead Days After Disappearance

The 28-year-old victim named Tejeshwar was a resident of Gadwal in Telangana, and was found dead days after he was missed on June 18, nearly a month after his wedding, PTI news agency reported.

His body was discovered during the investigation near Panyam town in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, police reported.

Tejeshwar’s family claimed that his wife conspired against him for murder as she was having an extramarital relationship. They also accused that Tejeshwar’s wife, post-marriage, spent most of her time talking on the phone and they believed that she was communicating with her mother and other relatives.

Marriage Went Ahead Despite Earlier Concerns

The wedding was to take place in February, but the man’s family was trying to cancel it at the eleventh hour as the bride supposedly left home for seven days.

Following the woman’s subsequent contact with Tejeshwar and convincing him to proceed with the marriage, the two got married in Kurnool some weeks ago, victim’s family claimed.

Tejeshwar was a licensed land surveyor, according to the PTI report.

Police Yet to Find Concrete Evidence in Telangana Case

No solid evidence regarding the wife’s complicity in the murder has been found so far, PTI reported the police as saying on Monday. Investigation pertaining to this case is ongoing.

Indore Murder Case Update: Accused in Judicial Custody

This comes in the wake of the investigation into Sonam Raghuvanshi, the Indore woman accused of killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, while on honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja’s mutilated body was discovered in a gorge on June 2.

Sonam and her accused lover Raj Kushwaha are already in judicial custody on the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. They are accused of having hired at least three guys to kill him.

The district and sessions court in Shillong, Meghalaya, on Thursday sent the remaining accused Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand to 14-day judicial custody.

Eight suspects have so far been arrested in relation to the killing of Raja Raghuvanshi. They include Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and four others: Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand.

Lokendra Singh Tomar, the eighth accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, was brought to court in Gwalior on Tuesday. He was detained for a transit remand for three days. He is charged with hiding the pistol and the money bag in the murder case, and destroying evidence, Meghalaya police added.

The hospital chief was suspended after an inquiry revealed delays in using the backup generator. The incident sparked public outrage and political criticism.
</excerpt>

A clip of doctors treating patients with mobile flashlights in Telangana during a power blackout has resulted in the suspension of a hospital superintendent. The scene was from Zaheerabad Area Hospital, where V. Sridhar Kumar was the in-charge superintendent. He was suspended by the health department of the state on charges of negligence.

In the viral clip, healthcare workers are seen checking patients in a poorly lit ward, using only the light from their cellphones. Patients are lying on beds and doctors attempt to carry out their duties under very challenging conditions. The haunting images soon went viral and invited a wrath of criticism, sparking concerns regarding hospital facilities and readiness.

Watch:

ఏడాదిన్నరగా… pic.twitter.com/rm1o4SKaXS

— Harish Rao Thanneeru (@BRSHarish) May 31, 2025

Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha directed a formal inquiry after the video made the rounds online. The blackout created complete chaos in the emergency ward, The Times of India says. Although the hospital did possess a backup generator, the delay in putting it into use resulted in great inconvenience for patients and staff alike.

An investigation by the Sangareddy Collector and Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Commissioner attested to the fact that even though a generator existed, it was not run on time, resulting in the failure of emergency services. The health department has therefore now issued fresh guidelines to all Telangana state government hospitals, emphasizing that superintendents have to ensure that backup generators remain in operational condition at all times in order to avoid such incidents from being repeated.

The incident also enraged politicians. BRS MLA and opposition leader Harish Rao Thanneeru attacked the Congress government, posting the video on X and stating, “On one side power cuts, on another side generator in the hospital is not functional. At last treatment is provided under cell phone light.”. If the situation at the Zaheerabad Government Area Hospital, which sees over 300 patients, is like this, what is the situation like at other hospitals in rural areas?”

He further criticized the government’s performance, saying, “The regime has been in power for a year and a half. People are losing access to medical care. @revanth_anumula Guys. stop tying your necks in the air and provide minimum facilities. #CongressFailedTelangana.”

After receiving a police notice, she emphasized the need for fairness, citing concerns over “selective targeting” and natural justice.
</excerpt>

Telangana senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal questioned whether the authorities were taking consistent action against anyone who had reshared an AI-generated image of 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, adjacent to the University of Hyderabad.

On Saturday, Sabharwal validated that she had given a complete statement to the Gachibowli police after being called as a witness on notice. The viral photo in question, in which earthmoving machinery can be seen along with animals such as deer and a peacock, was shared on social media platform ‘X’, being reshared by almost 2,000 people.

Have cooperated in full with Gachibowli police officials, and presented my statement in detail today as a law compliant citizen under BNSS Act. This post was shared again by 2000 people on this platform. I asked for clarification on whether same action is taken for all!,” she wrote on ‘X’.

Sabharwal, who is now the Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tourism, and Culture in Telangana, also expressed concerns about potential unequal treatment by the police. “If the same action is not taken, it gives rise to concerns of ‘selective targeting’, which in turn undermines the principles of natural justice and equality before the law,” she wrote in her post.

The Cyberabad Police had previously sent her a notice under Section 179 of the BNSS Act on April 12, on charges of supposedly false social media content related to the controversial land. “A notice was issued under Section 179 BNSS on April 12 to the IAS officer. It is a notice to bring out some information as a witness,” said a police official in PTI on April 16.

Authorities clarified that the notice was within an investigation into several social media updates that circulated unverified and doctored images concerning the property. Such posts, as per grievances, might cause disturbance and agitate protests, especially among students.

The image produced by the AI was first shared by someone else before being reshared by Sabharwal on March 31. Police claim they are attempting to find where she got the post from and what exactly she shared and how she obtained it.

The land itself has also been in the midst of controversy as the Telangana government plans to create IT infrastructure on the land. The action has prompted protests by the University of Hyderabad Students Union, raising environmental issues such as cutting down trees and disturbing wildlife. The case is being heard by the Supreme Court at the moment.

</excerpt>

A section of the roof, approximately three metres long, of the under-construction Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapsed on Saturday morning near Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool District, Telangana. According to reports, six to eight workers are feared to be trapped inside.

Rescue operations are in full swing, with the Telangana & Andhra Sub Area overseeing the efforts. The Engineer Task Force (ETF) of the Bison Division from Secunderabad has been deployed to assist in the mission.

Army medical teams and engineers, equipped with high-capacity pumping sets, armored hoses, excavators, JCBs, and bulldozers, are working relentlessly to clear the debris and ensure the safe evacuation of those trapped.

A joint meeting involving the Civil Administration, NDRF, SDRF, Army, and tunnel construction contractors is underway. The Indian Army is collaborating with all relevant agencies to speed up the rescue operation.

The Army has stated that its top priority is the “swift and safe extraction of those trapped inside,” with further updates to be provided as the mission progresses.

Telangana ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupalli Krishna Rao visited the site to oversee rescue efforts for the eight workers still trapped inside the collapsed tunnel.

Various agencies, including the state government, Army, Navy, NDRF, and SDRF, are working together on the operation. The ministers confirmed that dewatering has begun, and oxygen is being regularly pumped into the tunnel to aid the workers.

“We have reviewed the relief operations with the Army, Navy and NDRF representatives. Our government is working hard and putting all our efforts to save the lives of the eight people who are trapped inside,” Uttam Kumar Reddy told ANI while inspecting the rescue efforts.

He also noted that “Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha both spoke to the Chief Minister and expressed their full support and cooperation for the relief measures.”

The collapse took place at the 14 km mark of the under-construction tunnel, just four days after construction work had resumed following a long suspension. While some workers managed to escape, eight remained trapped inside.

</excerpt>

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to positioning the southern state as the leader in cyber safety during his address at the Cyber Security Conclave 2025 in Hyderabad on Tuesday. He highlighted the critical importance of digital safety and outlined plans for the SHIELD 2025 program.

CM Reddy praised the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau, Cyberabad Police, and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council for organizing the event and said, “I am delighted to meet all police officers and cyber security experts who are working together to make Telangana number one in cyber safety.”

Addressing the growing threat of cybercrime, he shared statistics showing that cyber criminals swindled Rs 2,812 crore across the country last year, warning, “Cybercrime poses a significant threat to the country’s economy and its citizens.”

He also drew attention to the dangers of fake news and misinformation, emphasizing, “Fake news is another major threat today. Misinformation on social media is creating chaos in society.”

Discussing the state’s initiatives to tackle cybercrime, he said, “The state government is providing necessary resources and support to cyber experts and IT companies to develop a robust cyber security ecosystem.” He encouraged citizens to raise awareness about the 1930 cyber helpline, which operates 24/7, and highlighted that Telangana is one of the few states with a fully functional Cyber Security Bureau and a dedicated cybercrime helpline.

CM Reddy further mentioned the state’s proactive approach, stating, “Last year, we established seven new dedicated cyber crime police stations. Congratulations to DGP Dr Jitender and the Director of the Cyber Bureau for setting up these facilities, and to the TG-CSB team for successfully organizing this event. Let us all work together to make Telangana a cyber-safe state.”

Acknowledging the rapidly evolving nature of cyber threats, he stressed the importance of comprehensive strategies, saying, “Crime patterns are changing rapidly, and we must devise all necessary plans to counter them effectively.”

He also emphasized that Telangana is leading in cybercrime control but noted the need to strengthen the cybercrime wing further. “Preventing crime should be prioritized before focusing on arrests after the crime has occurred,” he added. Reiterating his concerns about fake news, he underscored the importance of curbing economic crimes and misinformation on social media.

</excerpt>

On November 20, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti launched the ‘Learn, Play, Grow’ initiative, a collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Sesame Street Workshop in India Trust. The program, aimed at improving early childhood education and health practices, was unveiled during International Education Week.

Fostering Literacy, Numeracy, and Health Education

During the launch event, Ambassador Garcetti expressed his excitement about the initiative, emphasizing its focus on key areas for children’s development: literacy, numeracy, and health education. He explained, “Through characters like Elmo and Chamki, we are teaching children about important topics like washing hands, counting, and reading, laying a strong foundation for their future success.”

The program will utilize digital content to reach millions of students across India, with hands-on workshops benefiting tens of thousands of children in Rajasthan and Telangana. These workshops will be conducted in over 1,000 Anganwadi Centers and focus on play-based learning, making education fun and accessible.

Supporting India’s Educational Goals

‘Learn, Play, Grow’ aligns with India’s NIPUN Bharat mission, which aims for universal foundational literacy and numeracy. The program also emphasizes inclusive and gender-equitable education, ensuring that children from all backgrounds can benefit. Ambassador Garcetti showcased USAID’s broader impact, including support for gender-inclusive classrooms, multilingual resources, and assistance for children with disabilities.

Sesame Street’s Global Impact

Characters like Elmo, Chamki, Cookie Monster, and Grover are central to the program, helping teach children valuable lessons in a fun, engaging way. The initiative promises to spark positive change in early childhood education across India, with a focus on engaging families and communities for broader impact.

</excerpt>

The Telangana government has imposed an immediate ban on the production and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs, following a surge in foodborne illnesses linked to contaminated mayonnaise in Hyderabad. This decision comes in the wake of alarming reports, including one death and several hospitalizations, attributed to mayonnaise used in popular street foods.

Rising Food Poisoning Cases Prompt Action

The recent spike in food poisoning cases has raised significant alarm among health authorities. One tragic incident involved 31-year-old Reshma Begum, who, along with her two daughters, fell severely ill after consuming momos from a street vendor in Banjara Hills. While seeking medical assistance on October 27, Reshma sadly passed away en route to the hospital, and her daughters remain hospitalized. Investigations revealed that at least 20 other individuals in the vicinity experienced similar symptoms after eating from the same vendor, prompting health officials to conduct raids on local eateries, particularly shawarma and mandi outlets.

Health Risks Associated with Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise, commonly known as mayo, is a thick, creamy dressing made by emulsifying egg yolk with oil and flavorings. It is widely used in sandwiches, salads, and street foods. However, its short shelf life and susceptibility to bacterial growth raise significant health concerns. Dr. Sivaleela, Director of the Food Safety Department in Telangana, emphasized that homemade mayonnaise, often prepared with raw eggs, can be contaminated with Salmonella, leading to severe gastrointestinal distress if not properly prepared or stored.

Unlike commercially produced mayonnaise, which typically uses pasteurized eggs and preservatives, homemade versions lack these safety measures, making them more prone to bacterial growth.

On October 30, 2024, the Commissioner of Food Safety officially prohibited the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs for one year. The order cites a suspected link between raw egg-based mayonnaise and multiple food poisoning incidents over recent months. The Food Safety Act empowers authorities to act in cases where food poses a risk to human health.

In addition to the ban, the government is urging food establishments and consumers to consider alternative mayonnaise options that do not contain raw eggs. The public will also be alerted to potential health risks associated with food products whenever reasonable cause for concern arises. This move follows Kerala’s earlier decision in 2023 to ban raw egg-based mayonnaise after harmful microorganisms were found in market samples.

</excerpt>

Deepawali, widely recognized as Diwali, is a cherished festival celebrated by Hindus in India and globally. Spanning five days, the festival starts with Dhanteras and concludes with Bhai Dooj.

In contrast, the Karimnagar district embraces a distinctive approach to Diwali. For over 60 years, this community has adhered to a unique tradition, celebrating the festival at the cremation ground to honor their ancestors by lighting lamps on the graves of their loved ones. Each year, families from a particular social group convene at the Karjana Gadda Hindu cremation ground in Telangana to remember their departed relatives.

Rituals and Celebrations

A week prior to the festival, families clean and repaint the graves. On Diwali, they gather to adorn the graves with flowers and spend the evening there, reminiscing about their elders. They pay tribute, light candles, and place the favorite foods of the deceased on the graves. The families also conduct rituals and prayers that last until midnight.

While many celebrate Diwali in their homes and in public areas across the country, the community in Karimnagar focuses on the cremation ground. They believe that honoring their loved ones on this significant day brings peace to their souls. Although this practice may seem unconventional, many find joy in celebrating the memories of those who have passed.

Diwali as a School Holiday in New York City

On another note, Diwali will be recognized as an official school holiday in New York City, allowing over 1.1 million students to observe the festival of lights. This year marks the first time Diwali has been declared a holiday for public schools in New York City. Last year, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation designating Diwali as a school holiday, with schools remaining closed on November 1 for the celebration.

Dilip Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner for New York City’s Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, stated that celebrating Diwali as an official school holiday is a “milestone that celebrates our city’s diversity and the tireless efforts of our community and leaders.” He added, “With 1.1 million students now able to observe this day, Diwali becomes a true symbol of unity—a celebration of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance,” as he told PTI.

The incident occurred on October 25, as reported by India Today.

While Anil slept, he accidentally touched the wire and suffered a severe electric shock. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later transferred to a government facility, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He leaves behind a wife and a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

Similar Incidents

In a separate incident, a 24-year-old man named Srinivas died from electrocution while attempting to charge his phone in western Bengaluru. Originally from Bidar, Srinivas received a fatal shock while plugging in his smartphone. His two roommates were present, witnessed the tragic occurrence, and quickly took him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. It is believed that wet hands may have contributed to the risk of electrocution.

Additionally, in Noida, a 25-year-old truck driver named Arjeet Singh was reportedly electrocuted after the rear door of his truck made contact with a power transformer while unloading goods outside a sweets and snacks manufacturing company in Sector 68. Singh, a resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, sustained severe burn injuries, and electricity supply in the area was subsequently cut off, according to Dhruv Bhusan Dubey, station house officer of Phase 3.

This incident is not an isolated case; customers have previously reported unpleasant experiences that sparked outrage online. Last year, a video surfaced depicting a dead lizard found in biryani ordered from a local restaurant in Hyderabad. The minute-long footage showed the lifeless reptile lying in a plate of food that a family member was about to eat. This particular dish was ordered through Zomato, which took action in response to the incident.

Swiggy’s Initiative for Food Safety

In an effort to enhance food hygiene and quality standards among its restaurant partners, online food delivery service Swiggy introduced the ‘Swiggy Seal’ initiative. Launched on Wednesday, the program aims to promote better hygiene and will initially roll out in Pune before expanding to over 650 cities across India by November.

“Since the program’s launch two weeks ago, restaurant partners have shown high interest, with hundreds of requests for hygiene audits already received. Should any concerns arise about a restaurant holding the Seal, Swiggy will thoroughly review the feedback and may revoke the badge if the restaurant fails to maintain the established standards,” stated Swiggy.

</excerpt>

Konda Surekha, a Congress leader and cabinet minister in Telangana, faced criticism for insinuating that BRS politician KT Rama Rao played a role in the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya.

She claimed that KTR was responsible for many actresses marrying early or leaving the industry due to alleged blackmail related to drug influence.

Backlash from the Film Industry

Surekha’s comments sparked outrage in the Telugu film industry, with prominent actors such as Chiranjeevi, Junior NTR, and Amala Akkineni publicly supporting Samantha and Naga Chaitanya while criticizing the minister’s statements.

In response to the backlash, Konda Surekha later issued an apology to Samantha through a post on X, written in Telugu. She remarked, “I only intended to highlight how a leader disrespects women, not to offend you, Samantha.” She also stated, “If my words have hurt you or your fans, I completely retract them. Please don’t misunderstand my intentions.”

Legal Action

In light of Surekha’s remarks, BRS president KT Rama Rao filed a defamation suit against her, alleging that her statements also accused him of phone tapping, drugs, and blackmail. He demanded an apology for the false claims made against him.

Who Is Konda Surekha?

Personal Life

Konda Surekha hails from Warangal, Telangana, and currently represents the Warangal East assembly constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. She is married to Konda Murali, a former MLC, and they have a daughter together. Both are active members of the Congress party.

Career

Konda Surekha began her political journey with the Mandal Parishad in 1995 and became an MLA in 1999. She officially joined the Congress party the following year.

In 2011, she held the position of minister for women development, child welfare, as well as disabled and juvenile welfare under YS Rajasekhara Reddy, but she resigned following his death.

In 2012, she contested the by-polls as a YSRCP candidate but left the party in 2013, citing mistreatment by the Jagan Mohan Reddy faction.

In 2014, she joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party along with her husband. However, they both quit the TRS in 2018 and rejoined the INC. Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government, she was assigned the portfolios for environment and forests, as well as endowments.

A tragic incident has emerged from Telangana’s Kamareddy district, where a man reportedly died after performing a dangerous stunt involving a cobra. The 20-year-old, identified as Shivaraj, was captured on video putting the venomous snake inside his mouth. The stunt, which was meant for a social media post, ended fatally when the cobra bit him while he was recording.

The Stunt and Its Consequences

In the unsettling video, Shivaraj is seen standing in the middle of a road, with the cobra inside his mouth. Throughout the recording, he looks at the camera, makes hand gestures, and even shows a thumbs-up—all while the snake attempts to free itself. The video concludes with the snake’s head still lodged in his mouth.

According to reports from Telugu Scribe, Shivaraj and his father were involved in capturing and killing snakes for a living. They had caught the cobra earlier and decided to film it for WhatsApp groups. Unfortunately, the snake bit Shivaraj during the video, leading to his death.

“We are fighting for the farmers. Congress party had promised that on 9 December, all loans up to Rs 2 lakh will be waived off.
</excerpt>

BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Thursday said that the Congress government in Telangana had not fulfilled its promise of waiving off all farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh.
“We are fighting for the farmers. Congress party had promised that on 9 December, all loans up to Rs 2 lakh will be waived off.

But it has been 8 months now but now even not 1/7th of the loans have been waived off,” KTR told ANI.
He questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s claim that his government had completed the waiving off of all farm loans as promised.

“Deputy CM, who also happens to be the State Finance Minister, has come on record and said that only Rs 7,000 Crores have been disbursed.
Out of the total Rs 49,000 Crores that was initially stated, only Rs 7,000 Crores has been completed. What is even more interesting and exasperating for us is that the CM claims that 100% loan waiver is done,” he said.

“So, we are questioning the Congress Government. Select any constituency and let’s go there. If there is a 100% loan waiver in even one of the locations, and farmers say so, I would resign and quit politics then and there.
“We have not received an answer to this date.

That is why, we tell the Congress Government to announce a date by which they would disburse 100% of the amount. As the principal opposition party, we are telling them to fulfil the promises, the 6 guarantees, that they had promised,” he added.
The Congress had promised a complete loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh for farmers as part of its ‘Warangal Rythu Declaration’, ahead of the Assembly elections.

The party had said that if they came to power, it would waive off farmers’ loans of Rs 2 lakh per acre.
However, after coming to power, the government split the waiver scheme into three instalments, which irked the farmers in dismay.

Meanwhile, BRS held protests in all Mandal and Constituency centres on Thursday, demanding an unconditional loan waiver for all farmers in the state.
BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Thursday slammed the Congress government in Telangana for “not waiving off” the farmers’ loans.

“Before the assembly elections, the Revanth Reddy government promised to waive off loans of Rs 2 lakhs to farmers. They promised to waive off loans on 9th December. But they did not waive off loans on 9th December,” Rao told ANI.

“Later, in the parliamentary elections, they went to every district and promised to waive off loans by the 15th of August. They looted the votes of farmers in the parliamentary elections as well. Today, 15th August is over. The loan waiver has not happened yet. Even half of the farmers have not got their loans waived,” he added.

</excerpt>

Telangana Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy recently praised the Telangana government’s ambitious agricultural loan waiver scheme, calling it a historic achievement in independent India. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Agriculture Minister Nageshwar Rao, the scheme has forgone a substantial amount of debt, making a significant impact on farmers across the state.

During a press conference at Jal Soudha, Uttam Kumar Reddy, joined by Minister Jupally Krishan Rao and MLC T Jeevan Reddy, outlined the details of the scheme. The government began waiving loans up to Rs 1 lakh on July 18, extended this to Rs 1.5 lakh by July 30, and finally, by August 15, covered loans up to Rs 2 lakh. Despite these efforts, some farmers faced issues with their loan waivers due to incomplete information on Aadhaar cards, ration cards, or passbooks. The Congress party’s official release noted that these issues were being addressed.

Uttam Kumar Reddy reassured farmers that the government was committed to resolving discrepancies and ensuring all eligible loans were waived. He highlighted that 1.2 lakh farmers had incorrect Aadhaar numbers and 1.61 lakh had mismatches between Aadhaar and bank account names. Each mandal’s Agriculture Officer has been directed to rectify these errors, ensuring that no farmer is left out. Additionally, 4.83 lakh farmers without ration cards are being visited by officers to collect their details for inclusion in the waiver scheme.

For loans exceeding Rs 2 lakh, such as a farmer’s Rs 2.15 lakh loan, the government will cover Rs 2 lakh, leaving the farmer responsible for the remaining Rs 15,000. Over the past 7-8 months, the Congress government has written off Rs 18,000 crore in agricultural loans, a stark contrast to the BRS government’s minimal waivers which largely covered interest rather than the principal amounts.

Uttam Kumar Reddy criticized the BRS government for its inaction during its first five years and its insufficient efforts in the second term. He also rebuked the BRS for spreading misinformation about the loan waiver scheme and accused the BJP-led central government of neglecting farmers’ issues. Despite promises to double farmers’ incomes, the BJP has not implemented significant measures, whereas the Congress government has taken bold steps with the loan waiver.

Furthermore, Uttam Kumar Reddy addressed concerns about crop insurance. He accused the BRS government of failing to provide insurance or compensation for crops damaged by unseasonal rains over its ten-year tenure. In contrast, the Congress government has introduced a crop insurance scheme and promised a Rs 500 bonus on fine paddy this season. They have also compensated farmers for losses due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms.

In summary, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the Telangana government’s historic loan waiver scheme and criticized both the BRS and BJP for their shortcomings in addressing farmers’ needs. He urged farmers to ignore opposition propaganda and trust the Congress government’s commitment to their welfare.

</excerpt>

Sundeep Kishan’s restaurant, Vivaha Bhojanambu, was raided by Telangana’s Food Safety Department on July 8, 2024. The authorities claimed the restaurant violated six rules. In response, Sundeep has defended his establishment, emphasizing its charitable work and addressing the concerns raised.

Sundeep explained that Vivaha Bhojanambu was established not for profit but to support the nearby Chiranjeevi Blood Bank by providing free food. He shared that the restaurant donates around 350 food packets daily, worth over ₹4 lakh a month. “With such a significant donation, it’s hard to believe we would save an expired packet worth a few bucks,” he said.

While admitting that the raid uncovered some ‘minor issues,’ Sundeep insisted these did not relate to food safety or cleanliness. He addressed specific claims, including outdated rice, synthetic colors in coconut, improper storage, uncovered dustbins, missing medical certificates for food handlers, and water stagnation in drains. “We’ve addressed these minor issues,” he said, “and there was no stagnant water; it was just a drain.”

Despite the raid, Sundeep noted that business at his restaurant remained strong. “People trust the quality of our food, and we saw a spike in business the day after the raid.”

In other news, Sundeep has recently released Raayan, a Tamil film where he collaborates with Dhanush, Kalidas Jayaram, and SJ Suryah. He’s also working on a Telugu film titled Vibe, directed by Swaroop RSJ, and an untitled project by Trinadha Rao Nakkina.

In the first phase, the government transferred Rs 6,098 crore to 11.5 lakh farmers who have loans up to Rs one lakh.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy initiated the farm loan waiver scheme on Thursday. He, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao, participated in the ‘Rythu Nestham’ program at the Secretariat. They interacted with farmers regarding the loan waiver before releasing the funds.

Today, the state government deposited Rs 6,098.93 crore into the accounts of 11.50 lakh farmers with loans up to Rs 1 lakh. Government officials estimate that a total waiver of Rs 31,000 crore will benefit nearly 50 lakh farmers.

Reddy has instructed that the loan waiver be celebrated like a festival, according to officials. By the end of this month, the state government plans to release funds into the accounts of farmers with loans up to Rs 1.5 lakh. In August, funds will be released to those with loans up to Rs 2 lakh.

Officials stated that the state government intends to waive off farmers’ loans amounting to approximately Rs 31,000 crore.

On May 6, 2022, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi promised a Rs 2 lakh farmer loan waiver in the Warangal declaration if the party came to power in the state. The Congress wrested power from the K. Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS in the southern state and formed its government for the first time since the state’s formation in 2014.

The Union government took serious note of the incident after media reports surfaced, stating that breakfast in this hostel is provided by the Telangana government, not under the Centre’s PM POSHAN scheme. The Ministry of Education clarified this and mentioned on X that the state government has taken strict action against the officials involved.

The PM POSHAN Scheme ensures hot cooked midday meals in schools, and the Ministry advised all states and Union territories to maintain safety standards and serve properly cooked food to students.

In a report to higher officials, including the District Collector, the District Educational Officer (DEO) stated that a student found the lizard in the upma, leading the caretaker to halt the meal service. Seventeen students who had eaten the dish were taken to the health center in Ramayampet mandal. Two students with stomach pain were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital in Medak, while the other 15 were discharged. Later, 70 more students were checked, and all were monitored for six hours, but no symptoms of food poisoning were found.

The DEO reported that aside from the two students with stomach pain, all 15 others were discharged. The two students with pain were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Medak.

A cook and an assistant cook were fired for negligence, and show-cause notices were issued to the caretaker and the Special Officer of the Model School Girls’ Hostel, according to the DEO.
