Ahead of Revanth Reddy’s Oath, Congress MPs Laud It as a Historic Moment for Telangana

Adding to this sentiment, Congress leader and MP K Suresh emphasized that the immediate agenda of the Telangana government would revolve around implementing the six guarantees pledged during the election campaign. Drawing from a similar scenario in Karnataka, he asserted that these promises would be systematically fulfilled, reflecting the commitment of the party.

Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Hyderabad at the Hotel Taj Krishna, the venue of the swearing-in ceremony, ahead of schedule. Congress MLAs, as well as Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, are expected to attend the ceremony.

Revanth Reddy, whose posters have been prominently displayed throughout Hyderabad, is set to become Telangana’s first Congress Chief Minister since the party’s formation in 2014. In the recent Assembly elections, he led the Congress to a resounding victory, securing 64 out of 119 seats, surpassing the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) with 39 seats.

Acknowledging the support of party leaders and loyalists, Reddy conveyed his gratitude to AICC leaders and supporters for their unwavering backing through challenges and triumphs. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Congress leaders and supporters for their constant support.

Congress Appoints A. Revanth Reddy as Telangana’s Chief Minister

After days of speculation, the Congress central leadership officially declared A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president, as its choice for the Chief Minister of Telangana. He is set to take the oath of office on December 7, making him the first Congress Chief Minister in the state since its formation in 2014.

The decision came after Congress observers, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and party in-charge for Telangana Manikrao Thakare, submitted a favorable report following the Telangana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on December 4 in Hyderabad. The Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, endorsed Revanth Reddy’s selection based on the observers’ feedback.

All India Congress Committee general secretary K.C. Venugopal affirmed the party’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of Telangana’s people, describing Revanth Reddy as a dynamic leader who campaigned extensively alongside senior party members in the recent elections.

According to Venugopal, the party’s top priority is to keep the promises made to the people of Telangana. He emphasized that governance would be a collaborative effort involving various stakeholders in the state.

Revanth Reddy’s selection for the CLP leader position superseded Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who were also contenders for the Chief Minister’s post. Both aspirants had met separately with the central observers and D.K. Shivakumar earlier.

Following the appointment of Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister, the focus now shifts to forming the new Council of Ministers. With a maximum of 17 ministers, besides the Chief Minister, allowed in the Cabinet, the party faces the challenge of accommodating aspirations from among its 64 MLAs, comprising a blend of newcomers and seasoned politicians.

Telangana DGP Suspended by ECI for Model Code Violation!

Telangana Polls: The Election Commission of India has suspended Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar for a blatant violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Sources revealed on Sunday that the suspension came in the aftermath of an unexpected meeting between the top cop and Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy at the latter’s residence earlier in the morning.

The Election Commission, deeming the encounter a breach of protocol, promptly ordered the suspension of the Telangana DGP, who, along with Sanjay Jain, State Police Nodal Officer, Telangana, and Mahesh Bhagwat, Nodal (Expenditure), had met with Revanth Reddy.

Official sources highlighted the unusual nature of the meeting, stating, “The Director General of Police Telangana opted to meet a contesting candidate out of a total of 2290 candidates and the star campaigner of one political party out of 16 political parties in the fray, with a flower bouquet at the residence of the candidate when the counting process is still underway, along with two or more senior police officers, which is a clear indication of mala fide intention of seeking favor.”

The Election Commission expressed concern over the potential ramifications of such actions, emphasizing that the DGP is expected to lead the entire police service of the state by setting an example through impartial conduct. EC sources warned, “Any misconduct on the part of DGP Telangana not only sets a wrong precedent but sends incorrect signals to the field formations who are still in the process of conducting elections.”

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has sought explanations from the other two officials involved, State Police Nodal Officer Sanjay Kumar Jain and Nodal Officer (Expenditure) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, regarding the circumstances of their meeting with Revanth Reddy.

“The next senior and most eligible police officer of the state will be immediately given charge of the Director General of Police Telangana,” declared the Election Commission, underscoring the severity of the situation. Telangana polls: Congress Surges Ahead in Telangana, Exit Polls Suggest Trouble for KCR’s BRS

Telangana polls: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and his Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) are facing a formidable challenge as exit polls show the Congress with a significant lead in the state’s assembly elections. With 119 assembly seats at stake, the India TV-CNX exit polls predict that the Congress will win 63-79 seats, while the BRS will win 31-47 seats.

The Jan Ki Baat exit poll offers a similar narrative, forecasting the Congress to secure 48–64 seats, the BRS 40–55 seats, and the BJP 7–13 seats. Meanwhile, the TV9 Bharatvarsh-Polstrat exit polls paint a neck-and-neck scenario, with Congress and BRS projected to secure 49-59 and 48-58 seats, respectively. Republic TV-Matrize exit polls suggest the Congress winning 58–68 seats, while BRS is expected to claim 46–56 seats.

In a decisive projection, News 24-Today’s Chanakya exit polls indicate a massive victory for the Congress, securing 71 seats, leaving BRS with 33 seats and the BJP trailing with seven seats.

The Congress, KCR’s BRS, and the BJP are the key contenders in the southern state. According to the seat-sharing agreement, the BJP and actor Pawan Kalyan-headed Jana Sena are contesting in 111 and 8 seats, respectively.

Telangana Assembly Polls: As of 3 PM in the ongoing Telangana Assembly elections for 119 seats, the state has recorded a voter turnout of 51.89%, according to the Election Commission of India. Here are key details from the update:

Earlier, at 1 p.m., the total voter turnout in the state was recorded at 36.68%. The elections feature 2,290 contestants, including Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Minister-son K.T. Rama Rao, State Congress President A Revanth Reddy, BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and D Arvind. In the 2018 elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won 88 of the 119 seats with a vote share of 47.4%, while the Congress secured 19 seats. Telangana Assembly polls: 20 pc voter turnout recorded

Telangana recorded a voter turnout of 20.64 per cent till 11 am in the assembly polls that is currently underway for 119 seats, according to the Election Commission of India. The ECI reports that voter turnout was 13.50 percent in Adilabad, 8.33 percent in Bhadradri, 6.89 percent in Hanumankonda, and 10.82 percent in Jagtial. It also stated that, up until nine in the morning, voter turnout in Karimnagar was 8.21%, Jogulamba Gadwal was 12.02%, Kamareddy was 9.98%, and Jayashankar Bhupalpalle was 10.50%.

Polling for the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana began on Thursday morning. As many as 2,290 candidates from 109 national and regional parties including 221 women and one transgender are in the fray.
The counting of the votes will take place on December 3, coinciding with the results of the other four states- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.

The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi has fielded candidates in all 119 seats, while, as per the seat-sharing agreement, BJP and actor Pawan Kalyan-headed Jana Sena Party are contesting in 111 and eight seats respectively, while Congress has given one seat to its ally CPI, and fighting from 118 others. Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has put up candidates from nine seats.
For a higher voter turnout, several leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi have urged the people of the state to exercise their franchise.

During a mega roadshow held on Monday in Hyderabad ahead of the state assembly elections, PM Modi received an enthusiastic welcome from a massive crowd. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP MP K Laxman accompanied the Prime Minister during the event, witnessing an overwhelming response from supporters lining both sides of the roads.

Taking aim at the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Congress, PM Modi emphasized corruption, appeasement, and dynastic politics, claiming that both parties’ actions have hampered Telangana’s growth.

“Telangana’s trust is with the BJP because we are synonymous with development and prosperity,” PM Modi declared during his visit to Karimnagar.

During his campaign, PM Modi also paid a visit to Tirupati’s revered Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, offering prayers and marking an important milestone in his electoral journey.

Telangana’s upcoming elections on November 30 promise a triangular battle between the Bharat Rasthtra Samithi, the Congress, and the BJP. In the previous 2018 Assembly elections, the BRS, then known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 out of 119 seats and a sizable 47.4 percent of the total vote share, leaving the Congress in a distant second place with only 19 seats.

Telangana assembly polls: BJP releases list of 14 candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled a list of 14 candidates on Friday for Telangana’s impending assembly elections. Deshpandey Rajeshwar Rao from Sangareddy and Ramchander Rao from Malkajgiri are the party’s nominees.

Ramchander Rao is a member of the BJP Executive Committee, and President of the BJP’s Hyderabad unit. He is also a member of the Bar Council of India. He served as the Member of Telangana Legislative Council (MLC) for Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar Graduates’ Constituency from 2015 to 2021.

Deshpandey Rajeshwar Rao is a member of the BJP State Executive in a similar manner. The Telangana assembly polls will feature the fifth list of candidates from the BJP. The BJP unveiled its fourth list of candidates earlier on November 7. Twelve names were on the list, including well-known figures like Bomma Sriram Chakravarthy (Husnabad) and Tula Uma (Vemulawada), the former chairperson of the Zilla Parishad and former Karimnagar.

On Thursday, the Central Election Committee of the Congress Party released its final list of candidates for the ensuing elections to the Telangana assembly.
The party has fielded Katta Sreenivas Goud from Patancheru Assembly constituency, Mohammed Mujeeb Ullah Shareef in Charminar, Bathula Laxma Reddy in Miryalaguda, Ramreddy Damodar Reddy in Suryapet and Mandula Samual in Thungathurthi constituency (which is a reserved seat for the SC community).
The Congress released its first list of candidates on October 15. As per the first list, state president and MP Revanth Reddy will contest from the Kodangal Assembly constituency, while Adam Santosh Kumar will contest from Secunderabad.

BJP releases first list of candidates for Telangana assembly polls

The first list of candidates for the Telangana Assembly Elections in 2023 was released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday. Soyam Bapu Rao, an MP from Boath, Arvind Dharmapuri, an MP from Koratla, and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the national general secretary, are all candidates for the party. MLA T Raja Singh will run for office in the Goshamahal assembly district, and Eatala Rajender will run in the Huzurabad and Gajwel assembly districts.

The Telangana MLA T Raja Singh’s suspension from the party earlier in the day was revoked as a result of his response to the show-cause notice the party issued after a dispute sparked by his remarks against Prophet Muhammad. The MLA received a show-cause notice and a suspension in August.

“Under suspension, the Central Disciplinary Committee of the party issued a show cause notice to you. This refers to your reply to the show cause notice. Your reply and explanation offered therein have been considered by the committee. Basis your reply, the committee has decided to revoke your suspension forthwith,” Om Pathak, member secretary of the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, said in a notification.
The upcoming assembly election in Telangana scheduled to take place on November 30 is poised for a triangular contest, with the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and the Congress as the major contenders.

The BRS won 88 of the 119 seats in the previous Assembly elections in 2018, capturing 47.4% of the total vote share. With 19 seats and a vote share of 28.7%, the Congress came in far behind. Elections are scheduled for November 7 in Mizoram, November 7 and November 17 in Chhattisgarh, November 7 and November 17 in Madhya Pradesh, November 17 and November 17 in Rajasthan, and November 30 in Telangana. He continued “Always indebted to Karimnagar voters & Karyakarthas who made me what I am today.” Earlier in the day, the party’s Central leadership selected Etela Rajender, MLA and former Telangana minister, as Chairman of the Election Management Committee of the party’s state unit for the upcoming Assembly Elections in a massive organizational reshuffle.

Telangana will hold elections later this year, and the BJP sees itself as a strong contender to unseat the current K Chandrashekhar Rao-led BRS government.
