</excerpt>

The internet is no stranger to unusual trends, and the latest buzz surrounds a young woman’s bold attempt to find a “sugar daddy.” Shianne Foxx, a 22-year-old from Sydney, Australia, has gained massive attention for an unconventional billboard ad announcing her search for a wealthy companion.

Previously employed as a construction worker, Shianne made headlines by investing 2,000 Australian dollars (approximately ₹1.08 lakh) in a truck-mounted advertisement to promote herself. The ad, which featured a provocative image along with her phone number and Instagram handle, was prominently displayed in Mosman, one of Sydney’s affluent suburbs. The message on the truck read: “Are you rich, old, and alone? I am looking for a sugar daddy.”

Overwhelming Response and Backlash

As the truck made its way through Mosman’s streets, the ad quickly became a hot topic. Shianne revealed that she received an influx of messages and calls, but she only entertained responses from those who could provide a screenshot of their bank balance. Among her suitors was a wealthy elderly man from Mosman, reportedly worth over 15 million Australian dollars (around ₹82 crore), whom she considers her top contender.

Despite the overwhelming interest, the advertisement has stirred controversy among residents. Many expressed outrage, with one mother sharing on social media that her seven-year-old son had asked about the ad’s meaning, questioning, “Where is this world heading?” Some critics labeled Shianne a “gold digger,” while others deemed the stunt “completely unacceptable.”

Shianne’s Response to Critics

In response to the backlash, Shianne defended her decision, dismissing negative remarks as jealousy. She told Yahoo News, “Those who are unhappy with my approach are just stuck in their 9-to-5 jobs and aren’t as attractive as me—that’s why they’re upset.”

Financial Success Despite Criticism

Unfazed by the controversy, Shianne claims her strategy has already paid off. As an OnlyFans model, she revealed that she earned 100,000 Australian dollars (around ₹54 lakh) in a single month—an amount equivalent to the annual salary of many full-time workers. Confident in her choices, she sees this move as a step toward financial success and remains unapologetic about her unconventional approach to finding a wealthy partner.

As the debate continues online, Shianne’s story serves as yet another example of the growing influence of social media and unconventional methods people use to secure their future.

Despite defending the stunt, authorities and social media users remain concerned.
</excerpt>

A 23-year-old bodybuilder is under fire after a video of him performing push-ups in front of a moving plane engine went viral on social media. The footage, which was recorded last year but shared recently, quickly garnered millions of views on TikTok before being removed for violating the platform’s community guidelines.

A Stunt Gone Viral

The video, which has since spread to other social media platforms, shows Preslie Ginoski climbing onto a parked plane engine. The bodybuilder proceeds to perform push-ups while flexing his muscles in front of the engine. While the plane was stationary, the footage made it appear as though the engine was operating, leading to widespread concerns about the stunt’s safety.

Bodybuilder Defends His Actions

In an interview with Daily Mail, Ginoski defended his actions, explaining that he wanted to entertain viewers with a humorous video. “I just wanted people to get a laugh about it,” he said. He clarified that the plane was parked and not in motion until the following day. Ginoski also explained that the apparent movement of the engine was due to wind, insisting that the stunt was completely safe.

He further justified the stunt by stating that it was common for flight attendants and pilots to sit near the engines for photos, suggesting that such interactions were safe when conducted properly. “It’s very common for people to sit inside the jet engine if it is cleared and safe to do so,” he added.

Social Media Reacts with Criticism

Despite Ginoski’s defense, social media users were quick to criticize the dangerous stunt. “Stupid move. It wouldn’t take much for that engine to turn him into mince meat,” one user wrote. Another commented, “What could possibly go wrong?” Others expressed concerns about the increasing number of reckless stunts being shared online, with one user questioning, “Wonder why more people are dying young? Moronic decisions like these.”

Authorities Respond to the Incident

The stunt took place while Ginoski was employed at an airport. After leaving his position, he decided to share the footage of the risky stunt on social media. The incident prompted a response from the Australian airport where it occurred. A spokesperson for Sydney Airport issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to safety. “Sydney Airport has zero tolerance for unsafe behavior on the airfield, and we take all reports of potential safety breaches extremely seriously,” the representative said.

While Ginoski maintains that the stunt was harmless and done in good fun, it has sparked a wider conversation about the growing trend of dangerous challenges shared online. Despite his defense, many remain concerned about the potential risks of such behavior, both for the individual involved and for public safety.

This marks the second such incident in two years, with police investigating the attack.
</excerpt>

Vandalism occurred against a statue of Captain James Cook ahead of Australia Day in Randwick, Sydney, marking the second such incident within two years. Vandals painted the statue with red paint and spray-painted graffiti while causing damage to other parts of it, such as knocking off its hand, nose, and a part of its face.

The New South Wales Police have launched an investigation into the incident that occurred on Friday. Australia Day is celebrated on January 26 and commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, which has become a controversial date for Indigenous Australians, as they regard it as the day of colonization and loss of their lands. To others, it symbolizes a day of nation’s history and its achievements.

Mayor Dylan Parker of Randwick condemned the vandalism, stressing that “vandalism has no place in public discussion.” He added that although the statue would be repaired, it will take weeks and lamented how the money used to restore the statue is coming from the pocket of the tax payer. The Randwick City Council will clean and restore the statue.

This is part of a much larger debate on the legacy of Captain Cook. He was celebrated as the British explorer who mapped Australia’s east coast in 1770. His coming was a forerunner to violent colonization and the systematic oppression of Indigenous peoples. The Cook statues across Australia had been vandalized, and this event was equaled by one that occurred in Melbourne on January 2024 in which a statue was painted and sawed off at the ankles with the wordings, “The colony will fall” scrawled across it.

</excerpt>

Australia has dropped all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for the final Test against India in Sydney, with captain Pat Cummins confirming Tasmanian all-rounder Beau Webster will make his Test debut. Cummins announced that Marsh’s omission was the only change to the squad, with Mitchell Starc fit to play despite dealing with rib and back issues.

Marsh struggled throughout the series, scoring just 73 runs at an average of 10.42 across four Tests, with 47 of those runs coming in a lost cause in Perth. With the ball, he bowled sparingly, delivering 33 overs in seven innings and managing just 1 wicket for 127 runs in his last 28 overs. Webster’s selection comes on the back of his strong form in domestic cricket. Last season, he topped the Sheffield Shield run charts with 938 runs at 58.62 and claimed 30 wickets at 29.30.

He remains one of only two players in Shield history to score over 900 runs and take 30 wickets in the same season. Cummins expressed excitement over Webster’s inclusion, highlighting his ability to contribute as a sixth batter and fifth bowling option. “Beau’s been great around the squad and has proven himself with Tasmania and Australia A. His performances show he can change games, and we’re thrilled to see him debut,” Cummins said.

Marsh, despite his close ties with Cummins and his popularity within the team, accepted the decision gracefully. “He understands he hasn’t delivered the runs or wickets he wanted this series,” Cummins explained, adding that the door remains open for Marsh’s return. Webster’s ability to take on a more significant bowling workload factored into the selectors’ decision. His strong batting and versatility as a pace-bowling option offer balance to the team, particularly in a short turnaround.

The Sydney Test will conclude the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, with Webster’s debut adding intrigue to the contest.

The fireworks erupted from several spots, including the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, creating an amazing visual light and color effect over the waters. This year’s event features a tribute to Australia’s Indigenous cultures, featuring performances and ceremonies honoring the first people of this land.

Besides the fireworks, thousands of people had a ball with music and food and street celebrations in Circular Quay and other areas nearby. The significance of the celebration is that Sydney is one of the first significant cities in the world to be hosting 2025, where millions of Aussies and TV viewers worldwide can celebrate the commencement of a brand-new year.

With all these celebrations running well into the night, Sydney saw the early morning hours of the year 2025 greeted with hope and anticipation, thus welcoming a fresh new year with lots of promise and new beginnings.

Expanding Educational Capacity and Infrastructure Growth

Jaishankar emphasized the vast expansion of India’s educational infrastructure, noting that the country has nearly doubled its educational capacity since 2014. “In absolute numbers, this is like creating two new colleges every day,” he said, reflecting on the increased accessibility to higher education for India’s youth.

Jaishankar also outlined the rapid pace of infrastructure development across sectors:

Highways: India is constructing approximately 27-28 kilometers of highways daily, which underscores its dedication to improving road connectivity.

Railways: The country is advancing at a rate of 12-14 kilometers of new railway tracks each day, reinforcing India’s extensive rail network.

Aviation: India has added an average of 7.5 new airports each year over the last decade, totaling 75 new airports since 2014. However, Jaishankar pointed out a current challenge in the aviation sector: “We have about 1,000 new aircraft on order, but they’re not coming in as fast as we would like.”

Digital Transformation Revolutionizes Payments

Jaishankar highlighted India’s digital revolution, particularly in financial transactions, with QR code payments becoming ubiquitous, even among street vendors. “The most common example of digitization in India is in transactions,” he said, underscoring the widespread adoption of digital payments as a symbol of India’s modernization.

The remarks come amid Jaishankar’s broader engagements in Australia, as he continues to promote India’s infrastructure and economic growth on the global stage.

Urbano unearthed valuable items such as wads of cash, coffee makers, gold jewelry, and even Fendi bags, which he then sold for profit. His daily routine involved riding his bicycle or driving around Sydney after breakfast, exploring trash mounds for new finds. He described discovering mountains of discarded items, including fridges, wardrobes, and couches, with an abundance of perfectly good clothing.

One notable sale was a tiny Fendi purse, which Urbano sold for about $200. To ensure the authenticity of luxury items, he cross-referenced serial numbers on websites like Entropy and consulted friends who are high-end merchandisers. Urbano’s discoveries included over 50 television sets, 30 fridges, more than 20 washing machines, 50 computers/laptops, around 15 couches, and 50 vacuums.

Known as “The Trash Lawyer,” Urbano has been dumpster diving for four years, using his earnings to pay rent and sustain his livelihood. He advocates for the potential reuse and survival of discarded items, highlighting the immense waste generated in Australia. The country produced approximately 75.8 million tons of garbage in the fiscal year 2020–2021, with landfills receiving around 30% of this waste. Urbano’s story underscores the value that can be found in what others discard and the environmental impact of waste management.

According to police, the man allegedly started the fire while his partner and her seven children were inside. He reportedly locked the doors, preventing them from escaping.

The man, who has not been named, is under police guard in the hospital. He faces charges including three counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder, and intentionally endangering life by destroying property. The case is being treated as a domestic-related homicide, described by police as one of the worst instances of a parent allegedly killing their own children in recent history in New South Wales.

Emergency services responded to the fire in Lalor Park, about 35 km west of Sydney’s center, early on Sunday morning. Two boys aged two and six, and a five-month-old girl lost their lives in the fire. The victims have yet to be formally identified. A 29-year-old woman and five other children were hospitalized, with the woman later discharged and the children reported to be in stable condition.

</excerpt>

Five women and one man were killed in a horrific stabbing attack that happened at a shopping center in Sydney on Saturday afternoon. The Australian Police said that the attack was intentionally targeted towards women. The attack, which shocked the country, was carried out by the suspect, Joel Cauchi, 40, acting alone.

Commissioner Karen Webb of the New South Wales Police Service emphasized the attack’s targeted character, saying it was clear that the attacker avoided men and concentrated on women. Since then, the focus of police investigations has been on figuring out what motivated the attack, including questioning Cauchi’s friends to get insights of his thoughts.

The police said that the suspect was a 40-year-old man who acted alone.
New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb on Monday stated that it was “obvious” that the suspected attacker, Joel Cauchi, targeted women.
“It’s obvious to me, it’s obvious to detectives that seems to be an area of interest that the offender focused on women and avoided the men,” Webb told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), according to Al Jazeera.

The victims, included a 55-year-old designer, a 47-year-old architect and volunteer surf lifesaver, the daughter of a 25-year-old entrepreneur, a 27-year-old Chinese student, a 38-year-old new mother, and a 30-year-old Pakistani security guard who bravely tried to stop the attacker, have been remembered across the country.

The majority of the victims were women, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed grave concerns about the gender breakdown of the casualties. In line with the emotions of a nation in shock, he called the atrocity “beyond words and understanding.”

A significant law enforcement response was sparked by the attack, with several forces mobilizing to establish security and begin a thorough inquiry. Increased security precautions and acts of solidarity, such as displaying Australia’s national flag at half-mast at significant Sydney places, were observed in the aftermath.

As Australia struggles to deal with this tragic event’s consequences, focus has shifted to finding justice for the victims and figuring out what exactly went wrong to cause such a horrific loss of life in a public place.

</excerpt>

Six individuals were reported to be dead following an incident on Saturday afternoon, where a man entered a mall in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and began randomly shooting and stabbing people, local media reported.

The casualty count from the incident at Bondi Junction’s Westfield shopping center could rise, as eight individuals, including a child, were swiftly transported to hospitals in Sydney. However, their conditions have not been disclosed yet, The Sydney Morning Herald said.

Around 4 pm local time, chaos unfolded within the busy shopping complex, with reports of multiple stabbings. Witnesses recounted scenes of sheer terror as a man, reportedly armed with a knife, caused mayhem, leaving bystanders in a state of shock and confusion.

“We didn’t really know where to go. We tried to go back in the other building but there were people running down that direction,” recounted Hannah Bodrozic, who was shopping in Country Road at the time. “Then we heard three gunshots and everyone just started screaming.”

Heavily armed tactical operations police quickly arrived at the scene.

“Heavily armed tactical operations police responded and shot a male offender,” as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.

“Police responded to reports of multiple people stabbed at Bondi Westfield just before 4 pm,” reported authorities.

Harrowing eyewitness testimonies depict scenes of pandemonium within the shopping center as terrified shoppers frantically sought safety. The sudden burst of violence shattered the tranquility of the bustling retail hub, leaving numerous individuals traumatized and overwhelmed by the experience.

“You’d never expect something like this in Sydney,” stated Guy Johnston, who saw the chaos erupt, according to local media reports.

The extensive nature of the incident has triggered a substantial law enforcement reaction, with officers from multiple commands converging on the scene to secure the area and initiate a comprehensive investigation, as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.

As the fire raged on, onlookers were alarmed by the sight of massive sections of the building’s walls and bricks tumbling to the ground. Fire and Rescue NSW (New South Wales) took control of the situation, managing to extinguish the fire that had destroyed two multi-story buildings in Surry Hills. Approximately 100 firefighters from various locations in Sydney responded to the blaze, working from a safe distance. Ladder trucks and drones were utilized to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring residential units, as reported by an Australian publication.

In 2019, the city of Sydney received a development application to convert the heritage-listed property on Randle St into a hotel. The building had a history of over 100 years, according to a heritage impact statement cited by the Sydney Morning Herald. A resident from a nearby building recounted hearing a metallic burning smell and the evacuation alert of his own building around 4:15 pm local time when the fire started. PM Modi also put his signature in the guest book at Sydney’s Admiralty House.Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi emphasised “Mutual Trust and Mutual Respect” as the cornerstone of the strong historical links between India and Australia in his important speech to the Indian diaspora at a community gathering during his visit to Sydney.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he believes the relationship is “beyond this” and “it is mutual trust and mutual respect.” He noted that previous definitions of the relationship between India and Australia were the “3Cs” (Commonwealth, Cricket, and Curry), “Democracy, Diaspora, and Dosti,” and later “Energy, Economy, and Education.”On the second day of his visit to Australia, PM Modi spoke at a community event in Sydney. He hailed the Indian diaspora in Australia as being a driving factor behind the mutual respect and trust between the two countries.
“It was once claimed that the relationship between India and Australia is characterised by the three Cs: Commonwealth, Cricket, and Curry. Then it was stated that “Democracy, Diaspora, and Dosti” define our relationship. Others claimed that the energy, economy, and education are equally important factors in our relationship. To a packed arena at Sydney Olympic Park, he added, “But I feel that the relationship between India and Australia is beyond this; it is mutual trust and respect.On Tuesday in Sydney, PM Modi met with executives from the major Australian corporations. He advocated for expanding collaboration with the Indian sector in areas including technology, skill development, and clean energy at the sessions.

Earlier on Sunday from the team’s hotel Gunathilaka was arrested in charge of sexual intercourse without consent during the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka batter has been charged with four counts of sexual intercourse and on 12 January the case will return to court.

“Magistrate Janet Wahlquist granted Gunathilaka bail on Thursday in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, where he appeared via an audiovisual link from Parklea jail. Police prosecutor Kerry-Ann McKinnon opposed bail on the grounds Gunathilaka is a flight risk and that he could endanger the safety of the complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons,” ESPNcricinfo stated.

Thangaraj said, “Of course, he would be on bail in these circumstances.”

Moreover, a police facts sheet filed with the court stated, “The complainant tried to remove the accused’s hand by grabbing his wrist but the accused squeezed tighter around her neck. The complainant was fearing for her life and could not get away from the accused.”

Since 2017 Gunathilaka has been a part of SL’s white ball and has represented his nation in 47 ODIs, 46 T20Is, and eight Tests.

However, due to a hamstring injury, Gunathilaka was ruled out of the T20 World Cup on 19 October, and later after the incident happened he was with the “standby” squad.

Authorities prepared for severe floods in Australia’s east on Thursday as Sydney marked its wettest year in 164 years. More torrential rain is predicted to fall over the next three days.

Australia’s largest metropolis has experienced 2,200 mm of rain in a year for the first time since records began in 1858, and there are still almost three months left in 2022.

Approximately 2,213 mm (87 inches) of rain has fallen on Sydney by Thursday afternoon, breaking the previous record of 2,194 mm recorded in 1950.

In the five hours since 9 a.m. local time (2200 GMT, Wednesday), more than 58 mm have fallen, according to Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) live data.

As Australia’s east coast continues to experience the exceptional La Nina weather pattern for a third straight year, further downpours are predicted for the rest of 2022.

Heading into late spring and summer, we’re still in this active La Nina period so we can expect more and more rainfall and that does increase the risk of flooding,” BoM forecaster Jonathan How told ABC television.

Three times in the past two years, flooding has affected Sydney’s suburbs, displacing tens of thousands of people.

Authorities in Sydney cautioned citizens to be on the lookout for flash floods and to avoid driving on flooded roads as a wild weather system was anticipated to drop torrential rains through the weekend across a large area of Australia’s east.

The capacity of many dams and rivers has already been reached. In order to help avert future floods, the state of New South Wales has committed to increasing the height of the wall at Sydney’s Warragamba Dam, which provides 80% of the city’s water.
