Jaat Day 5 Box Office: Sunny Deol Film Earns ₹63 Crore

Gopichand Malineni’s maiden Bollywood film Jaat, starring Sunny Deol in the lead role, had a decent Monday. Despite a dip that’s par for the course, the film collected ₹63.75 crore worldwide in five days, according to Sacnilk. However, it falls short of Salman Khan’s recent film Sikandar.

The trade website states Jaat earned ₹47.50 crore net and ₹56.15 crore gross in India within five days. It earned ₹7.60 crore abroad, bringing the overall to ₹63.75 crore globally. The movie registered a 48.21% decline on Monday in India with a 16.26% occupancy a good figure, but it is below how Sunny and Gopichand’s earlier movies fared.

Comparison with Past Releases

To begin, Gopichand’s latest film was Veera Simha Reddy with Balakrishna. The film raked in ₹98.40 crore in five days. Sunny’s latest film, Gadar 2, did even better, with ₹298.20 crore so far. And for reference, Salman Khan‘s latest release Sikandar raked in ₹149.25 crore in five days.

But after an opening of ₹13.25 crore worldwide on the box, the film did steady business mostly, even going up during the weekend, more so on Sunday.

Filmmaking Has Changed Over Time

Sunny also reflected on how cinema has changed over the years. He noted that earlier, filmmakers had complete control over their projects, but that’s no longer the case.

“Pehle humare directors had control over the whole thing. Aaj kal humare directors ke paas itna control nahi hai aur kahaniyaan waisi ban bhi nahi rahi hain, which will justify the images of the actors. Woh bahut zaruri hai.”

He pointed out how important it is for the story to match the persona of the actors involved. He remarked with a smile, “Itne saare stars lelo ek picture mein lekin kahaani hi nahi hogi toh kya karoge?”

Sunny also talked about changing trends in Bollywood. He said that cinema goes through different phases, and what’s in style keeps evolving.

Rajkumar Santoshi granted bail in cheque-bounce case

Rajkumar Santoshi’s lawyer, Binesh Patel, has confirmed that the filmmaker has been granted bail in the cheque-bouncing case. The court has also postponed the judgment for the next 30 days. Earlier, the court had ordered a two-year jail sentence for Santoshi and asked him to repay double the amount owed to a businessman. However, the Jamnagar court in Gujarat has allowed Santoshi 30 days to appeal against the order in a higher court.

Patel stated, “The court has stayed its judgment for 30 days and granted Mr. Santoshi bail after we sought time to appeal against the judgment at a higher forum.” He also mentioned that the prosecution did not provide any documentary evidence to prove that Santoshi had taken the money. The complainant, Ashok Lal, claimed to have received 10 cheques of Rs. 10 lakh each from Santoshi, totaling Rs. 1 crore, which subsequently bounced.

Piyush Bhojani, the advocate for the businessman, confirmed the sentencing and the details of the case. He stated that Lal had contributed Rs. 1 crore to Santoshi’s film and that the cheques bounced when deposited in the bank. Lal tried to contact Santoshi regarding the matter but was unsuccessful, leading him to file a lawsuit under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

‘Dono’ marks the acting debut of Sunny Deol’s son Rajveer Deol and actor Poonam Dhillon’s daughter Paloma. It is directed by Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avnish.

On Sunday, the film minted Rs 7.80 crores which took the film’s total collection to Rs 501.17 crores.

Senior Congress politician Jairam Ramesh raised doubts on Monday when the Bank of Baroda canceled the “E-Auction Sale Notice” of a residence owned by BJP MP Sunny Deol citing “technical reasons,” asking “who triggered these technical reasons?”

The country got to know afternoon that the Bank of Baroda has placed Sunny Deol’s Juhu home up for e-auction because he owes the Bank Rs. 56 crores. “The Bank of Baroda withdrew the auction notice due to “technical problems” this morning, in less than 24 hours. Wonder who triggered these “technical reasons”?,” the Congress MP posted on social media site X, now known as Twitter.
