</excerpt>

In a shocking turn of events at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Thursday, the screening of ‘The Sabarmati Report’, a film depicting the Gujarat Godhra incident, was violently disrupted by alleged stone pelting and vehement protests from certain student factions. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the event’s organizer, reported that the chaos erupted midway through the screening at the Sabarmati Dhaba, plunging the gathering into turmoil.

According to ABVP, unidentified assailants launched stones at the unsuspecting audience, inciting widespread panic and forcing an abrupt cancellation of the event. The group has pointed fingers at left-leaning students on campus, accusing them of orchestrating the attack. The situation escalated further as posters promoting the film were torn down, and vociferous slogans opposing the screening reverberated through the venue.

In a scathing statement, ABVP JNU denounced the incident as a “cowardly assault on freedom of expression, dialogue, and democratic values.” The RSS-affiliated organization asserted that the film was intended to spark discussions on topics allegedly suppressed by the nation’s “intellectual elites.” They declared, “This barbaric act is not just an attack on individuals but on the principles of free speech and thought. It reflects the intolerance of certain anti-Bharat, anti-Hindu forces within the campus who cannot tolerate the resurgence of truth and righteousness.”

Rajeshwar Kant Dubey, President of ABVP-JNU, expressed his outrage, stating, “Today, we have organised the screening of the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’. PM Modi has also watched this movie and its screening has been tax-free in many states. It depicts the incident of Sabarmati Express where 59 Karsevaks were burnt alive…Earlier also, we have screened such movies.”

Also read: Wrong Evidence Presented Against Delhi Riots Accused Sharjeel Imam Says Counsel

The university administration has remained conspicuously silent, offering no response to the incident thus far. This violent episode has reignited fierce debates on freedom of expression and the deepening ideological rifts within educational institutions. The campus remains tense as students and faculty grapple with the implications of such brazen attacks on democratic values and the sanctity of free discourse.

Amid heightened security for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, TLP members threw rocks and burned a patrol car, leading to one reported death and multiple arrests.
</excerpt>

Pakistani police clashed with thousands of protesters in Karachi on Sunday after demonstrators attempted to breach a security barricade. Supporters of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party threw rocks at officers and set a patrol car on fire when they were prevented from reaching the press club. The TLP reported that one of its members was killed during the unrest, while police arrested around 20 individuals from both sides.

The protests erupted as foreign delegations began arriving in Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which is set to take place amid heightened security and military deployments in the capital. Approximately 2,000 TLP supporters attempted to approach the city’s press club to oppose a separate demonstration organized by civil society groups addressing the recent killing of a blasphemy suspect while in police custody.

Provincial Interior Minister Zia Ul Hassan expressed concerns about potential clashes, as both the political party and civil society groups had called for protests on the same day. He condemned the violence, especially in light of the upcoming security summit in Islamabad and last week’s deadly attack on a convoy of Chinese nationals outside the city’s airport.

The TLP advocates for Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws, which impose the death penalty for insults against Islam. In response to the unrest, Islamabad’s Inspector-General of Police, Nasir Ali Rizvi, announced a comprehensive security plan ahead of the crucial summit. More than 9,000 police personnel have been deployed, and an integrated traffic plan has been established to facilitate citizens.

Additionally, the government has deployed army troops in the capital to manage any disturbances and has imposed a ban on protests and rallies in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other cities. Senior regional officials, including Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, are expected to attend the summit.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has threatened to hold a protest on October 15 against restrictions placed on its jailed leader, Imran Khan, demanding the government allow him to meet with family, legal counsel, and medical personnel.

The Shiv Sanvaad Yatra organised on Tuesday was left in a chaos when stones were pelted on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackrey’s car in Aurangabad. The alleged incident occurred when Thackeray’s program and Ramabai Ambedkar’s procession took place simultaneously. While Aaditya Thackeray was carrying out the Shiv Sanvaad Yatra in Mahalgaon in Vaijapur, at the same time, the procession on Ramabai Ambedkar’s birth anniversary also started. Ramabai Ambedkar ,wife of BR Ambedkar had a major role in supporting BR. Ambedker in their fight for dalit rights.

Thackrey was accompanied by leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve who alleged that the stones were pelted by “anti-social” elements to disrupt the yatra and create a rift between those carrying out the procession and the Shiv Sena convoy. He further stated that after the police asked them to stop the DJ and the procession, the crowd went angry and started pelting stones at the convoy. The crowd was raising slogans in support of local MLA, Ramesh Bornare. In order to stop the escalating situation Aaditya Thackeray gave the speech after coming down from the stage.

He apologised to the crowd for the inconvenience and said that if they want to, they can play the DJ and carry out the procession. He also reminded the crowd that Shiv Shakti and Bhim Shakti are together. Danve further alleged that while leaving, the crowd tried to stop Aaditya Thackeray’s car, but it was taken out safely by the security guards. The incident was recorded on camera and the video has since gone viral. It may be recalled that following the revolt by Eknath Shinde, the Shiv Sena broke into two camps. Later, the Election Commmission alloted ‘ShivSena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’ as the party name for the Thackeray camp and ‘Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena’ (Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena) for the Shinde camp.

Delhi Police on 25th January said it has begun an inquiry on the complaint lodged by students of Jawaharlal Nehru University against the alleged stone pelting and deli power cut that took place while they were watching the controversial BBC documentary on PM Narendra Modi.

The officials also said that, both the sides have given a complaint to Delhi Police on the late-night students’ ruckus on campus in the JNU case. On 24th January night, several students took out a protest march from their campus to the Vasant Kunj Police Station and lodged a complaint claiming stones were pelted at them while watching the screening of the documentary.
On the second day of its voyage after being flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, unidentified miscreants threw stones at the freshly launched Vande Bharat Express in Malda, north Bengal.

Despite the fact that no passengers were injured, the collision broke the glass of a coach C-13 door. The Railways Act’s section 154 has been invoked by the railroad authorities, who have opened an investigation and filed a case.

“There was a case of stone pelting on the New Jalpaiguri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express at Kumarganj around 5:50 pm on Monday. One main door-glass was affected. None were injured. There was no delay in the schedule,” said a senior railway official.

The inaugural Vande Bharat Express for West Bengal was launched by PM Modi on Friday, and it began carrying passengers on January 1.

However, the incident on Monday set off a blame-game between the Trinamool Congress, the government, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the main opposition.

“Unfortunate & sickening. Stones pelted at India’s pride Vande Bharat Express in WB’s Malda district. Is this revenge for ‘Jai Shree Ram’ chants on the Inaugural day? I urge @PMOIndia & @RailMinIndia to handover the probe to @NIA_India & punish the perpetrators. @AshwiniVaishnaw,” tweeted Suvendu Adhikary, BJP legislator and leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly.

“Who are trying to damage ‘Vande Bharat’? Proper investigation needed. @AITCofficial strongly condemn stone throwing. But this may be a conspiracy to create negative campaign against Bengal. First throw stones, then make statements, then start dirty politics; a well-planned script,” tweeted Kunal Ghosh, TMC spokesperson.
