</excerpt>

This liquid dairy might seem like one of the latest trends in dairy markets, but it’s really ancient milk that has been around for thousands of years. Within some parts of Europe, the past few years have made donkey milk a popular choice between adventurous foodies and seekers of natural health-promoting food products. The article will further describe the benefits, uses, and drawbacks of using donkey milk.

History and Uses of Donkey Milk

Donkeys, belonging to the Equidae family, have been used as domesticated animals all over the world for their milk, with the female donkeys, or jennies, being the ones to provide nourishment. Donkey milk has a long history, with notable figures like Hippocrates using it as a remedy for conditions such as arthritis, coughs, and wounds. Cleopatra allegedly kept her skin soft and smooth by bathing in donkey milk.

Donkey milk is used for its antimicrobial property as well as as folk medicine treatment of infections including whooping cough in Africa and India. Donkey milk closely resembles human breast milk compared to the milk of other dairy animals and, hence, was used as baby food for orphaned babies during the 19th century. Today, donkey farming is increasing but it still remains a niche product as a jenny produces just around 4 cups of milk a day.

Most donkey milk sold is directly from farms, while in the United States, due to the ban on transferring raw milk across state lines, none is available. Larger farms may offer pasteurized versions of the milk. In Europe, donkey milk is available powdered and freeze-dried from most stores and is even infused into chocolates. In Italy, donkey milk is marketed in some infant formulas as well as a medical food.

Nutritional Content of Donkey Milk

The nutritional content of donkey milk resembles both human breast milk and cow’s milk in its low fat and calorie content and high content of vitamin D. Most of the calories from the lactose molecule comprise lactose, the main carbohydrate. Nutrition comparison table for some milks:

Calcium

7% DV

2% DV

Compared with cow’s milk, the ratio of whey to casein is higher in donkey milk and, therefore, is potentially suitable for people with milk protein allergies. The whey proteins in donkey milk also have antimicrobial properties, helping to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria such as Listeria, E. coli, and Staphylococcus aureus.

Health Benefits of Donkey Milk

Donkey milk has been considered for health benefits, especially in children allergic to cow’s milk. Since the casein content is lower in donkey milk, it is more tolerable to people allergic to the protein in cow’s milk. Italian research found that children with a cow’s milk allergy could safely consume donkey milk without any problems, thus growing normally and developing regularly. But if you do have an established allergy, then first see your doctor before you try donkey milk.

Lactose in donkey milk aids calcium absorption, which is very important for bone health. Also, donkey milk contains compounds that may support immune function. One study found that it encouraged the release of cytokines, proteins that stimulate the immune system, and increased nitric oxide production, which helps dilate blood vessels and reduce blood pressure.

Drawbacks of Donkey Milk

The primary drawbacks of donkey milk include a high price and lack of availability. Since the number of donkey farms is very low, it makes the production and selling process costly. Most small farms sell raw donkey milk, and this exposes babies, the elderly, and immunocompromised people to the danger of foodborne illnesses.

For safety, pasteurized donkey milk or heat raw milk to 161°F (72°C) for 15 seconds should be sought. Lactose intolerance also causes digestive discomfort from donkey milk because, although it contains less lactose than cow’s milk, it still contains some.

Donkey Milk in Cosmetics

Other than the nutritional benefits, donkey milk is also widely used as a skincare product. The proteins of donkey milk are very rich moisturizers that enable the skin to retain water. It contains antioxidants, among other things, that prevent oxidative damage of cells from exposure to the sun, giving the skin an anti-aging effect. Donkey milk is present in the cream, soaps, shampoos, and face masks.

Final Word

Donkey milk is far from a new fad; its numerous benefits in health and cosmetic applications have been ascribed since ancient times. It is also ideal for individuals with cow’s milk allergies because it contains less casein; however, lactose intolerance must be exercised with caution.

Although donkey milk is extremely difficult to find and expensive, especially when bought as a drink, it is present in most cosmetic products today. This is because, due to its moisturizing and antioxidant properties, it may help provide the much-needed new skincare solution or health boosting for individuals.

</excerpt>

Karwa Chauth, a traditional Hindu festival celebrated by married women, is not only about fasting but also about embracing beauty and grace. On this special day, women dress up in vibrant attire, often wearing bridal outfits or sarees, complete with jewelry and intricate mehndi designs. To complement the festive look, a perfect makeup routine is essential. In this article, we’ll explore some stunning Karwa Chauth makeup ideas that will make you glow throughout the day and into the moonlit night.

Prepping the Skin for a Radiant Glow

Before applying makeup, it’s crucial to prepare your skin for a flawless finish. Start with a gentle cleanser to remove impurities, followed by an exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells. A hydrating moisturizer will ensure your skin looks dewy and fresh. Don’t forget to apply a primer for a smooth canvas that will help your makeup last all day.

Base Makeup: Achieving a Flawless Complexion

For Karwa Chauth, go for a long-lasting foundation that offers medium to full coverage. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone for a natural finish. Use a beauty blender or brush to blend it seamlessly into your skin. Set it with a light dusting of translucent powder to control shine. Highlight and contour your features to add dimension—apply a highlighter on the high points of your face (cheekbones, nose bridge, and cupid’s bow) and a bronzer under your cheekbones and jawline for a sculpted look.

Eyes that Speak Volumes

Eye makeup is one of the most important aspects of your Karwa Chauth look. Opt for rich, festive colors like gold, bronze, or burgundy. Start with a neutral base and blend in deeper shades to add depth to your eyes. Use a shimmering gold shade on your eyelids to catch the light.

For a dramatic look, apply kohl on your waterline and smudge it slightly for a soft smokey effect. Use a liquid eyeliner to create a sharp wing, adding a modern touch to your traditional attire. Finish your eye makeup with a few coats of volumizing mascara or go for false lashes for added glamour.

Bold Lips for the Festive Spirit

Karwa Chauth calls for bold lip colors. Deep reds, classic maroons, or even fuschia pinks are perfect choices. For long-lasting color, start by lining your lips with a matching lip liner to prevent feathering. Apply your lipstick in layers, blotting between each coat, to ensure it stays put throughout the day.

Rosy Cheeks for a Youthful Glow

Add a pop of color to your cheeks with a rosy blush. Use a powder or cream blush, blending it into the apples of your cheeks for a natural flush. A soft peach or pink tone works well with most complexions, adding a youthful and fresh glow to your face.

The Finishing Touch: Bindis and Jewelry

No Karwa Chauth look is complete without the final accessories. Adorn your forehead with a traditional bindi that complements your outfit. Choose jewelry that highlights your makeup—jhumkas, maang tikka, and chandbalis are popular choices. These elements will pull your entire look together.

This Karwa Chauth, let your makeup reflect the festive spirit with bold eyes, striking lips, and a radiant glow. Whether you prefer a subtle look or full-on glam, these makeup ideas will ensure that you look your best while celebrating this beautiful occasion. Don’t forget to experiment with bold lip colors and shimmering eyeshadows to stand out this Karwa Chauth 2024!

</excerpt>

Handwashing has evolved from a simple hygiene task into a mindful skincare ritual that benefits both your hands and your overall well-being. With nourishing ingredients and invigorating scents, handwashing can become a moment of self-care, refreshing your mind while cleansing your skin. The right products can elevate this daily habit into a soothing, hydrating experience, leaving your hands soft, supple, and rejuvenated. Here are a few tips to enhance this experience:

Take the time to wash and massage your hands

Handwashing can be a mindful practice that enhances your overall well-being. Taking a few moments to focus on the act of washing your hands and massaging the skin can reduce stress and promote relaxation. This mindful approach not only elevates your handwashing routine but also adds a touch of self-care to your day.

Utilize sensory relaxation!

The right handwash can do more than just cleanse your skin—it can refresh your mind too. Handwashes infused with Lavender, Bergamot, Grapefruit and Green Apple not only remove dirt and bacteria but also awaken your senses with its invigorating scent. The uplifting aromas help energize you, making you feel refreshed.

Lifestyle and beauty Influencer, Alisha Chadha says, “Handwashing isn’t just about staying clean anymore—it’s about feeling good inside and out. For that I love using Fiama fresh handwash that not only leave my hands soft & supple but also uplifts my mood with their amazing scents. It also gives 90% protection from germs and is dermatologically tested!”

Cleansing with Care

Handwashing is more than just a defence against germs; it’s an essential cleansing ritual for your skin. When done right, using a gentle, hydrating handwash can remove dirt, bacteria, and excess oils without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Opt for handwashes infused with skin-loving ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin E, or glycerine to maintain your skin’s barrier while ensuring your hands stay soft and supple.

Hydration is Key

Frequent handwashing can lead to dryness but choosing a handwash that prioritizes hydration helps combat this and lets your skin reap the benefits. Choose handwashes which have ingredients that lock in moisture and prevent the dryness caused by regular washing. Keeping your hands hydrated will leave them not only clean but also soft and supple.

</excerpt>

The monsoon season comes with many aesthetics, however glowing, happy skin, is unfortunately not one of them. The shift in weather, characterized by high humidity, fluctuating temperatures, and increased pollution, dampness creates an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and fungi, leading to clogged pores, inflammation and 100 other skin problems.
The change isn’t just about a few extra pimples. The increase humidity and This season, while refreshing can create havoc for your skin. But fear not, understating why behind those “breakouts and pimples” is the first step to banishing them.

Why your Skin freaks out in
monsoon?
=Humidity Overload: All the moisture due to humidity clogs your pores and makes your skin red and angry.
=Oil Slick: The humid air tells your skin to pump more oil, clogging up the pores and leading to breakout.
=Sweat Traps: When sweat is combined with the dirt and oil, the clogging gets worse resulting in more breakouts.
Dr Aparna Santhanam says, “Think of your monsoon skincare routine as a balancing act. You want to keep your skin clean and exfoliated without stripping away its natural moisture barrier. A gentle cleanser, a mild exfoliant, and a hydrating, oil-free moisturizer are your best allies. And never underestimate the power of a good sunscreen, even on a cloudy day!”
Whilst a consistent skincare routine forms the foundation of a healthy skin, sometimes the skin needs a little extra help to target those stubborn, individual blemishes. That is where acne spot correctors come in. These spot correctors can be the secret weapon, but using them correctly is the key:

=Less is more: Start with tiny amount and gently dab it onto the blemish. Avoid rubbing or applying to the surrounding skin.
=Timing is everything: Apply spot treatment after cleansing and toning but before moisturiser and sunscreen.
=Ingredients Matter: Look for spot correctors containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, or niacinamide. These ingredients target different aspects of acne formation. Dr Aparna adds, “A powerful ingredient to look for is Azelaic Acid. Spot Correctors with Active-rich AzeAct formula, delivers a multi-pronged targeted action against acne lesions.”
=Consistency is the key: Continue using the spot corrector, and don’t pick or squeeze the pimple.
If the skin experience severs persistent breakouts, or if it is accompanied by pain or discomfort, it is crucial to seek advice from a dermatologist. A skincare professional can provide tailored recommendations, which may include prescription medications or specialized in-office treatments designed to address your specific needs.
Maintaining clear and healthy skin during changing seasons requires a consistent and well-adapted skincare routine. By strategically incorporating acne spot correctors and following a regimen suited to the season, you can effectively manage and reduce acne, ensuring that the skin remains balanced and vibrant regardless of external factors.

</excerpt>

LED light therapy, the latest buzz in the skincare world, has caught the attention of A-list celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Deepika Padukone, becoming a staple in their beauty routines. But what exactly is this futuristic-looking treatment, and why is it gaining so much popularity?

LED light therapy is more than just a fleeting trend; it’s a scientifically-backed treatment that addresses various skin concerns. The therapy works by exposing the skin to low-level light wavelengths that penetrate deep into the skin layers, promoting healing and stimulating collagen production. The result? Healthier, more radiant skin that glows from within.

The stars of this treatment are LED light masks, innovative tools designed to deliver specific light wavelengths to the skin. These masks, which are customized based on individual skin needs, offer a non-invasive treatment that’s suitable for most skin types. The masks target a range of skin issues, from ageing to acne, with different colours of light addressing specific concerns.

Red light is the go-to for anti-ageing, as it boosts collagen production and enhances blood circulation, smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. Blue light, on the other hand, is a game-changer for acne-prone skin, killing acne-causing bacteria and regulating oil production. Green light works wonders for those dealing with hyperpigmentation and redness, evening out skin tone for a brighter complexion. Yellow light is perfect for calming irritation, making it ideal for sensitive skin.

So, why has LED light therapy become a favourite among celebrities? The answer lies in its non-invasive nature and convenience. There’s no need for needles or surgery, and with no downtime required, it easily fits into the busy schedules of A-listers. The therapy has become so popular that at-home LED masks are now widely available, allowing everyone to incorporate this treatment into their skincare routines.

While these masks may not deliver dramatic results on their own, consistent use is key. To see a noticeable difference, it’s recommended to use the mask for at least 30 minutes per session.

The benefits of LED light therapy are numerous. Red light therapy reduces wrinkles and fine lines by stimulating collagen production, giving the skin a more youthful appearance. Green light therapy evens out skin tone by reducing hyperpigmentation and redness, while blue light therapy fights acne by targeting acne-causing bacteria. Yellow light therapy calms sensitive skin, reducing irritation and inflammation.

Overall, LED light therapy is a versatile treatment that can be customized to meet individual skincare needs. By boosting circulation and enhancing the skin’s natural healing process, regular use of LED light therapy promotes healthier, more radiant skin.

Before incorporating LED light therapy into your skincare routine, it’s always wise to consult a dermatologist. This ensures that you choose the right treatment for your skin type and concerns, helping you achieve the best results.

</excerpt>

As the monsoon season continues with its relentless rain and humidity, maintaining a skincare routine becomes increasingly challenging. Whether you enjoy the rains or find them bothersome, the increased humidity can wreak havoc on your skin. From stickiness to clogged pores, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you manage your skincare during these damp days.

Essential Monsoon Skincare Tips

One crucial tip from Dr. Deepali Bhardwaj, Senior Dermatologist and Consultant at Saket’s Max Hospital, is to adjust your face wash according to your skin type using Fuller’s Earth or multani mitti. For oily skin, she recommends using Fuller’s Earth directly. For combination skin, mix it with rose water. For dry skin, combine Fuller’s Earth with sandalwood powder and either aloe vera gel, yogurt, or par-boiled milk. Apply this mixture as a face wash, let it sit for 2 minutes, and then rinse with water without scrubbing.

Dr. Kiran Sethi, MD, founder of Isya Aesthetics, emphasizes the importance of reducing layers in your skincare routine rather than adding more products. For oily skin, minimize the number of layers applied. Even those with dry skin, who may still feel dehydrated, can benefit from a watery hyaluronic acid serum.

Skincare for Different Ages

Regardless of age, moisturizing remains vital during the monsoon. Dr. Sethi highlights that mature skin, which tends to be more sensitive, requires substantial moisturization. Pure oils like grapeseed, almond, or coconut oil can be beneficial if you are not acne-prone. For younger, sensitive skin, maintaining balanced pH levels is essential. Even if prone to breakouts, continue to use a gel-based moisturizer.

Beard Care During Monsoons

Men’s grooming, particularly beard care, requires special attention during the rainy season. Dr. Sethi advises shaving in the direction of hair growth and using minimal shaving products to avoid clogging pores. Dr. Bhardwaj suggests using a face wash with salicylic acid, niacinamide, or azelaic acid to manage beard acne. An anti-dandruff shampoo once or twice a week can also help without being too harsh.

Makeup and Monsoons

For makeup enthusiasts, the high humidity can cause makeup to melt and lead to breakouts. Niacinamide is recommended for its protective properties against monsoon acne. Dr. Bhardwaj suggests applying niacinamide between sunscreen and makeup in the morning and following it with a gel-based moisturizer in the evening. Dr. Sethi recommends simplifying your makeup routine by using fewer layers. Opt for mattifying products and consider reducing the number of items like primer, CC cream, foundation, and concealer to avoid buildup.

By adjusting your skincare routine with these tips, you can better manage the challenges posed by the monsoon and keep your skin healthy and radiant.

</excerpt>

Milind Soman, renowned for his endurance and youthful appearance, follows a remarkably simple skincare regimen and avoids conventional cleansing products. The model and fitness enthusiast shared, “I don’t use sunscreen. I have never used sunscreen. I don’t use soap. I don’t use any artificial means to clean my skin. I use a shampoo sometimes but that’s the time if I have oiled my hair.” Milind, who is also the author of the self-help book ‘Keep Moving’, which chronicles his fitness journey along with the stories of his mother, Usha Soman, and wife, Ankita Konwar, further revealed, “If I am eating papaya, I take the skin and rub it on my face.”

To understand if such a minimalist routine is effective, we consulted Dr. Rinky Kapoor, a consultant dermatologist and cosmetic dermatologist at The Esthetic Clinics. She explained that sunscreen is crucial for protecting the skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. It acts as a barrier, absorbing UV rays before they penetrate the skin, thus “reducing the chances of sunburn and skin cancer.” Dr. Kapoor warned that “prolonged exposure to UV rays can interfere with your skin’s DNA, increasing the risk of skin cancer.” She also noted that UV light can damage collagen and elastin, proteins that maintain skin’s softness and elasticity. Skipping sunscreen altogether can lead to serious, long-term skin issues.

Regarding the use of papaya peel, Dr. Kapoor noted that it has beneficial properties. “Rich in papain enzyme, it gently exfoliates, removes dead skin cells, and reveals a brighter complexion,” she said. She added that papaya is high in vitamins A, C, and E, and contains antioxidants that protect the skin from environmental damage while promoting repair and rejuvenation. The fruit also has hydrating qualities that keep the skin moisturized and supple. However, Dr. Kapoor advised caution for individuals with sensitive or acne-prone skin, as using papaya could lead to issues like inflammation, sensitivity, itching, and a burning sensation.

For personalized skincare advice, Dr. Kapoor recommends consulting with a dermatologist to select appropriate products, including sunscreen, tailored to your skin type and needs.

</excerpt>

Are you tired of dealing with sparse, uneven, or shapeless eyebrows? Do you struggle with daily brow makeup routines? Eyebrow microblading treatment is here to revolutionize your brow game! In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the world of microblading, exploring its benefits, procedure, etc.

Eyebrows are the game changers when it comes to face shaping. Sharp, shaped, and identical brows not only accentuate your facial features but also give you a more youthful appearance. One revolutionary procedure that has transformed the world of eyebrow enhancement is microblading, also known as permanent brows or eyebrow tattooing. This cosmetic procedure involves implanting fine, featherweight, hair-like strokes using a blade with very tiny needles to give the illusion of natural hair.

Benefits of Eyebrow Microblading
Microblading is a miraculous solution for people with scanty, scarred, or uneven brows. It can be life-changing for those suffering from conditions like alopecia and cancer, who may experience significant hair loss. The results are semi-permanent, lasting between one to two years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. Some of the benefits of Microblading are as follows:

Long-lasting results: Microblading can last up to 2 years, saving you time and effort in your daily beauty routine.
Natural appearance: The hair-like strokes mimic the look of real eyebrows, creating a seamless and authentic appearance.
Customisable: Microblading allows for tailored shaping and filling to suit your individual features and preferences.
Minimally invasive: The procedure is relatively painless and doesn’t require significant downtime.

Microblading Process
Consultation: The process begins with a thorough consultation where the aesthetician discusses your desired brow shape, colour and thickness. This step is crucial to ensure that the final result complements your facial features.
Mapping: Next, the aesthetician will map out your new brows using precise measurements to create a symmetrical and natural look. This step often involves drawing the desired shape on your skin with a removable pencil.
Numbing: To ensure a comfortable experience, a topical numbing cream is applied to the brow area. This minimizes any discomfort during the procedure.
Microblading: The actual microblading involves using a handheld tool with tiny needles to deposit pigment into the skin. The aesthetician creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic the natural growth pattern of your brows.
Aftercare: Proper aftercare is vital for the best results. You’ll be given specific instructions, which may include avoiding water, sweating, and certain skincare products on the brow area for a specified period.

Choosing the Right Aesthetician
It is crucial to select an aesthetician with the right skills and experience before undergoing any permanent makeup procedure. Choosing the wrong professional can result in disastrous outcomes that are difficult to reverse. Here are some tips for finding the right aesthetician:
Research: Look for aestheticians with good reviews and a portfolio of their work.
Certifications: Ensure they have proper certifications and training in microblading.
Consultation: Don’t hesitate to ask questions and express your concerns during the consultation.
In conclusion, Eyebrow Microblading is an excellent option for anyone looking to enhance their brows and achieve a more youthful appearance. By choosing the right aesthetician and following proper aftercare, you can enjoy beautiful, natural-looking brows that last for years. If you’re considering this transformative procedure, Dermalyn offers the expertise and quality you need for stunning results.
</excerpt>

1. Can you please briefly the term microplastics in the skincare industry

A: Microplastic is a liquid polymer or synthetic polymer that is widely used for viscosity and increased shelf life purposes. It is inexpensive and readily available.
A few examples of microplastics are Phthalates, Parabens, Cadmium, Triclosan, Sulfates, Toluene, Talc, PEG, Formaldehyde, and Diethanolamine. Microplastic leaves equal negative impact on skin and health as on the environment.

2. As the skincare industry is really very vast what’s the one change you would like to implement?
A: Stop the use of microplastics! Not because we have a brand La Pink but because
of the severe health impacts it is leaving behind directly or indirectly.
Researchers at the New York University School of Medicine used mass spectrometry to measure the concentrations of PET (polyethylene terephthalate)
and PC (polycarbonate) in feces samples from six infants and 10 adults, as well as three samples of newborn babies’ first stool and in all samples, microplastic fibres were found. PC levels were about the same in adults and babies but the PET levels were about 14 times higher in babies. We are already on our mission to spread awareness about microplastics with our ongoing campaign #SayNoToMicroplastics and will be taking the help of our honorable Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi to accomplish this and make India 100% Microplastic Free.

3. Can you share your journey and how you started La Pink
A: “If it wasn’t for my father’s ambitious vision, I wouldn’t have taken a step to find the gap in the beauty industry and introduce a 100% microplastic-free formulated range of products!” That’s true! I was engaged with the functioning of the Marvel group when my father Mr. R.C. Jain came up with the idea of launching a skincare brand. He proposed to bring a revolutionary shift in the market or else it would be yet another skincare brand. After two years of multiple formulations and research, we found a perfect combination of nature and science: 100% Microplastic-free natural products. One of the initial formulators said, “Microplastic is not a revolutionary concept and it will be lost in the market within 6 months of its launch!” This statement did develop a few questions among us but thanking my Europe trip in 2018 that supported our collective vision of bringing 100% microplastic-free formulated products to the Indian market where everything is marketed based on the ingredients. I was inspired by the European consumers as they were educated and had taken steps to boycott the use of microplastics. Today, even Indian consumers are smart and make informed decisions, but they will also be researching about particular things when they know about them. And that was it, we knew what we had to do and brought a whole range of 100% Microplastic Free Formulations that no one is doing in India.

4. What has inspired you throughout this journey?
A: My consumers, the positive response from different marketplaces, and my employees who I call my work family. What once started as a dream project has now become a collective vision of people at La Pink.

5. What are your future plans for the brand?
A: We are going to expand our range of products and make them more accessible by entering quick commerce, same-day delivery, and experience stores in India. We are also planning to expand ourselves globally and we shall share the news soon!

</excerpt>

In today’s fast-paced world, where stress and external aggressors constantly bombard us, self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity. And what better way to prioritize yourself than by taking care of your skin? A good skincare routine is more than just aesthetics; it’s a powerful act of self-love. It’s a quiet ritual at the beginning and end of each day, a moment to connect with yourself and invest in your well-being. This mindful approach to skincare can leave you feeling calm, confident, and radiant, inside, and out.

Just like every individual is unique, so is their skin. What works for one person might not work for another. This is why a personalized skincare routine is crucial. It’s about understanding the unique language of your skin and responding with care and attention. However, building a routine that caters to your specific skin type and concerns doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, being overwhelmed or stressed about one’s skincare routine completely defeats the purpose of it being a part of a relaxing self-care regime. Dr. Aparna Santhanam, Dermatologist & Skin Expert, ITC Dermafique, breaks down skincare routines to their simplest steps, and dives into skincare routines for your specific skin type.

Decoding Your Skin: A Guide to Choosing the Right Products

The cornerstone of an effective skincare routine is understanding your skin type and selecting products tailored to its individual needs.

Oily Skin: If you have a naturally radiant or ‘shiny’ complexion with visible pores, you likely have oily skin, characterized by excess sebum production. Dr. Santhanam advises, “Cleansers containing salicylic acid are your best friends. This ingredient works wonders in exfoliating and controlling oil. Opt for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers, and consider incorporating clay-based masks to absorb excess oil. A gentle cleanser with seaweed extract can also help balance and nourish your skin.”

Dry Skin: If your skin often feels tight, flaky, or appears dull, you might be dealing with dry skin, which lacks sufficient moisture. Embrace creamy cleansers infused with hydrating heroes like hyaluronic acid. Replenish lost moisture with rich moisturizers containing emollients like shea butter and treat your skin to hydrating masks. Dr. Santhanam adds, “A hyaluronic acid serum can provide an extra boost of hydration, plumping up those skin cells.”

Combination Skin: While combination skin might sound like one is getting the best of both worlds, it sadly may not always be so. Combination skin presents with a mix of oily and dry areas, typically with an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). “Seek out balancing cleansers that address both oil and dryness. A lightweight moisturizer works well for the entire face, but don’t be afraid to use different products on different areas. For example, a clay mask on the T-zone and a hydrating mask on the cheeks can work wonders,” advises the expert.

Sensitive Skin: This is not really a skin type but more of an attribute. Any type of skin may be prone to sensitivity and can display irritation, redness, even itching, and can often have adverse reactions to certain ingredients. Choose fragrance-free and hypoallergenic products, and gentle cleansers with soothing ingredients like chamomile or aloe vera. Steer clear of harsh exfoliants or ingredients known to cause irritation. Opting for products with minimal ingredients can also help reduce the risk of reactions.

Normal Skin: Well-balanced and neither too oily nor too dry—if this sounds like your skin, consider yourself lucky! For those with not too many skincare troubles, Dr. Santhanam recommends gentle cleansers and lightweight moisturizers to maintain your skin’s natural harmony. Focusing on consistency and protection will keep your skin happy and healthy.

Finding the right skincare routine is a journey of self-discovery. </excerpt>

Circadian rhythm significantly impacts our skin’s health, influencing its appearance and function throughout the day. Our skin undergoes a natural regeneration cycle roughly every 27 days, affected by various factors including age, environmental stressors, hormones, diet, and sleep. Understanding the relationship between circadian rhythm and skincare can enhance your routine for better results.

Aditi Jain, Marketing Head of Oteria, explains that skin care isn’t just a morning and night affair but should also consider afternoon and evening routines. In the morning, the skin acts as a defense barrier against environmental threats, which can leave it feeling tight and dry by afternoon. In the evening, the skin starts repairing itself from the day’s damage, with this restorative process peaking at night. By morning, the skin is more hydrated and ready to face the day’s challenges.

Dr. Mili Sinha, Aesthetic Physician at La Clinique and advisor for Oteria, emphasizes the importance of syncing your skincare routine with your body’s circadian rhythm. Our circadian clock genes govern various bodily functions, including digestion, temperature regulation, and skin repair. Prioritizing at least seven hours of sleep is crucial, not only for maintaining skin health but also for overall mental resilience, metabolism, and immune function.

Circadian rhythm plays a crucial role in skin health, affecting its appearance and function throughout the day. The skin regenerates approximately every 27 days, influenced by factors like age, environmental stressors, hormones, diet, and sleep

</excerpt>

Seasonal changes have a significant impact on skin health, particularly in tropical climates like India, where summer brings increased heat and humidity. These conditions can lead to heightened sweating and a higher risk of skin issues.

Heat and Humidity:

Increased sweating and moisture from high humidity can lead to skin maceration, which can breach the skin’s surface and make it susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections. Common issues include furunculosis, carbuncles, folliculitis, dermatophytosis (ringworm), and candidiasis. These infections often affect areas where moisture is trapped, such as skin folds, and can spread in crowded or poorly hygienic environments.

Sun Exposure:

Sunlight poses its own risks, leading to various photo-related skin conditions such as acne, polymorphic light eruption, lichen planus pigmentosus, herpes simplex labialis, and sun tanning. While Indian skin, with its higher melanin content, is less prone to sunburn, those with conditions like vitiligo may be more susceptible. Heat stroke can also trigger a rare condition called Miliaria Profunda, where sweat ducts become blocked, though a less severe form known as Miliaria Rubra or ‘Ghamori’ is more common in hot, humid weather.

Adjusting Skincare Routines:

As temperatures and humidity levels rise, it’s crucial to adapt skincare routines accordingly. Summer can make skin oilier and more prone to breakouts, so opting for gel-based products and lotions can help manage excess oil. Increased sweating and UV exposure can block pores, worsen acne, and compromise the skin’s protective barrier.Customized skincare solutions, including sunscreens, are vital for protecting against UV radiation and preventing sunburn, photodamage, and premature aging

Addressing Summer Skin Challenges:

The combination of increased sunlight, itchy rashes, and overall skin stress during summer can be exacerbated by infections, allergies, or injuries. Acne, for instance, results from the buildup of hair, sebum, and keratinocytes, which can become inflamed and lead to breakouts. Heat also stimulates sebum production, worsening acne and other skin issues.

Maintaining a tailored skincare regimen that adjusts to seasonal changes is essential for healthy, radiant skin throughout the summer months.

</excerpt>

Common Faux Pas That Can Damage Your Skin

Skincare is vital, but common mistakes can hinder your progress. Avoid these errors for healthier skin:

Over-Exfoliating: Skin renews every 28 days. Over-exfoliating disrupts this process, causing irritation and dryness. Exfoliate moderately to maintain natural oils.

Using Harsh Cleansers: The skin’s pH is 5.5. Harsh cleansers disrupt this balance, leading to dryness and acne. Opt for gentle, pH-balanced cleansers.

Skipping Sunscreen: UV rays penetrate even on cloudy days, causing premature aging and increasing skin cancer risk. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen daily and reapply every 2 hours.

Neglecting Hydration: Cleansing can strip natural oils, compromising the skin barrier. Use hydrating products like Charmis Anti Acne Face Serum with 2% salicylic acid and soothing ingredients like niacinamide and aloe vera for clear, glowing skin.

Not Moisturizing Oily Skin: Oily skin can be dehydrated, leading to excess oil production. Use lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers to balance hydration without clogging pores.

Incorrect Product Application: Apply skincare products from thinnest to thickest consistency: cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen. This ensures optimal absorption and effectiveness.

Avoid these mistakes and make informed choices to improve your skin’s health. Consistency and the right products, like Charmis Anti Acne Face Serum, can help achieve a radiant complexion.

By wearing sunscreen daily, you can maintain healthier, more youthful-looking skin.

Wearing sunscreen beneath makeup is crucial because it provides a protective barrier against harmful UV rays, which can cause skin damage, premature aging, and increase the risk of skin cancer. Even if your makeup contains SPF, it’s often not enough to ensure adequate protection. Sunscreen forms a reliable base that ensures consistent coverage. It also helps to maintain skin health by preventing sunburn and hyperpigmentation. By applying sunscreen before makeup, you ensure that your skin remains protected throughout the day, regardless of the type or amount of makeup you wear.

Rain or shine, wearing sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. Whether you’re spending the day outside or just running errands, pairing sun protection with cosmetics can be tricky. Here’s how to do it right without compromising your look.

1. Apply Topical Medication: If you use any topical medications for skin conditions like acne or psoriasis, apply them first.

2. Moisturize Your Face: Hydrate your skin with a moisturizer before applying sunscreen. This ensures your skin stays hydrated and smooth.

3. Rub on Sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen with at least SPF 50. Ensure even coverage on your face, neck, lips, and ears. The sunscreen should blend in and become invisible.

4. Put on Makeup: Treat sunscreen as a primer. Apply your foundation and other makeup products over it. Opt for waterproof mascara and a foundation with SPF 8-15 for added protection.

5. Finish Your Look: Set your makeup with a brush of powder and a setting spray that contains sunscreen.

6. Reapplication: Reapply sunscreen every two hours on your body; touch up facial makeup with products containing sunscreen.

7. Cleaser at the end: Cleanse your face thoroughly at the end of the day and moisturize.

By following these steps, you can effectively protect your skin from UV rays while looking your best.

</excerpt>

Monsoon is definitely the most preferred and favored time of the year cause of the comfort and peace it brings. There’s something so romantic about feeling the raindrops on our body and dancing in the rain. But if you were to realize how the same rain that brings us eternal comfort can be a reason you might struggle with various skin problems, what would your reaction possibly be? Thus to avoid facing such problems you need a fool-proof skincare routine. Humidity comes in handy with the overjoy monsoon brings, by adding few habits to your skincare routine, treat your skin with extra care so that it blends in with the climate as well.

How is your skin affected by monsoon?

The temperature in monsoon is pretty much unstable and keeps on fluctuating between hot and cold. Since our skin is also a part of nature, it also keeps on fluctuating between dry and oily, especially during monsoon. The skin becomes an inventory for sweat, sebum and excessive oil due to the high humidity in the air. Often resulting in severe breakouts, clogged pores, blackheads and acne. While this isn’t the only factor, we tend to sweat a lot during monsoon which leads to dehydration. Dehydration affects skin as well, leaving you with dry and patchy skin. That’s why you need a skincare routine that helps you deal with all of this, with ease.

How to take care of you skin in rainy season

Mentioned below are few tips and habits you can adopt that your skin would love and thank you for.

A gentle cleanser

First step of skincare is a cleanser. A cleanser helps in cleaning all the dirt, oil and sebum that has been resting on your face the whole day. Although there are different cleansers to opt for, its best to go for a gentle soap free cleanser during monsoon. A gentle cleanser is best option cause its not harsh on your skin and wont strip off the natural oils. Ensure to use it two times a day- day and night.

Exfoliation

Another crucial step to add to your skincare routine is exfoliation. It helps in cleaning all the impurities that are stuck within your pores and to buff away the dead skin.Exfoliation is for deep cleansing your pores, that’s why it should be done only 2-3 times a week. This allows other products to penetrate deep into your skin and be more effective.

Use A Clay Mask

Another commonly suggested product during monsoon are Clay masks. These are natural face packs that are proven to be best for breakouts and to calm the skin, which makes them a great fit during monsoon. It also helps in deep cleansing the skin and as well as tackling any impurities.

Control Oiliness

No one likes being sticky and oily the whole day, especially during monsoon. Which leaves us with the goal of tackling oil and dirt. Humidity plays a very important role in leaving your skin sticky and oily. So to reduce this, using oil control moisturizer is recommended. Moisturizing is one of the most effective and popular method of oil control.

Use A sunscreen

A misconception about sunscreen is, it should only be used while going out in sun. This is one of the biggest myth about skincare, sunscreen should be used practically every day no matter the weather as it acts as a protective layer for our skin. While applying sunscreen try to apply it on your neck as well. Even if you can’t see the sunlight, UV rays can still peek through and find its way through the clouds. So it’s important to wear SPF every day.

Remove Your Makeup Before Sleeping

Wearing makeup to bed is responsible for clogged pores that leads to breakouts. Using a cleanser to remove makeup is suggested as it helps your skin to breathe at night.

Take Care Of Your Lips

Lips are one of the sensitive parts. Monsoon season can be especially harsh on your lips, leaving them chapped and dry, even cracked in the worst cases. Therefore taking care of your lips during monsoon is important.

Many people prefer them over lotions because they are quicker to apply and often feel less greasy on the skin. However, dermatologists caution against relying on a few quick spritzes for adequate sun protection.

Daily sunscreen use is essential for preventing sunburn, guarding against long-term skin damage, and reducing the risk of skin cancer. Despite the convenience of spray sunscreens, achieving thorough coverage can be challenging. Dermatologists emphasize that for effective protection, you need to apply a generous amount evenly over all exposed skin.

spray sunscreen

A dermatologist in New York, stresses the importance of using the correct amount of sunscreen. “You should use at least an ounce of lotion sunscreen for full-body coverage,” she says. For sprays, this translates to spraying continuously for about six seconds on each area of the body.

Spray sunscreens can be effective if used correctly, but their convenience shouldn’t lead to complacency. Always follow the instructions on the label and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating. Remember, the best sunscreen is the one you use properly and consistently, ensuring your skin stays protected from the sun’s harmful rays.

</excerpt>

Achieving clear and pimple-free skin is a common goal for many people. Whether you’re dealing with occasional breakouts or persistent acne, these top 10 steps will help you achieve clearer skin in just days.

Cleanse Properly
Start with a Gentle Cleanser. Using a gentle cleanser twice daily helps remove dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

Exfoliate Regularly
Use a Mild Exfoliant. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores, preventing pimples and promoting cell turnover for smoother skin.

Moisturize Daily
Choose a Non-Comedogenic Moisturizer. Keeping your skin hydrated with a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer prevents dryness and reduces the risk of breakouts.

Apply a Clay Mask
Clay masks absorb excess oil and impurities from the skin, helping to clear and prevent breakouts.

Maintain a Healthy Diet
A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins supports overall skin health and can reduce acne flare-ups.

Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated flushes out toxins from the body, promoting clearer skin and a healthier complexion.

Get Enough Sleep
Adequate sleep allows the skin to repair and regenerate, reducing stress levels that can contribute to breakouts.

Spot Treat with Tea Tree Oil
Target Problem Areas Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties that can help reduce inflammation and treat acne spots effectively.

Apply Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide treats acne-causing bacteria and reduces excess oil production when applied directly to affected areas.

Use Salicylic Acid
Clear Pores Deeply Salicylic acid unclogs pores, exfoliates skin, and reduces inflammation, making it effective for preventing and treating acne.

Whether it’s long flights, changing climates, or exposure to environmental pollutants, our skin faces numerous challenges during travel. This is where serums step in as powerful allies, offering concentrated nourishment and hydration to keep our skin looking its best no matter where our adventures take us.

Why Serums Are Essential for Travelers
Serums are lightweight, fast-absorbing skincare products packed with potent ingredients. They penetrate deep into the skin, delivering targeted benefits such as hydration, antioxidant protection, repair, and brightening. For travellers, serums offer a range of benefits that address common skin concerns encountered during journeys:
1. Hydration Boost: Serums infused with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin replenish moisture lost during travel, preventing dryness and maintaining skin elasticity. Charmis Super Hydrating Face Serum With Hyaluronic Acid, 1.5% niacinamide, seaweed extracts, and chia seeds restores your skin’s moisture and gives it the perfect nourishment.
2. Antioxidant Defense: Exposure to UV rays and environmental toxins can accelerate skin aging. Antioxidant-rich serums containing vitamins C and E neutralize free radicals, protecting the skin from damage.
3. Repair and Renewal: Serums with peptides, niacinamide, and retinol promote collagen production, repair the skin barrier, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by travel-induced stress.
4. Brightening and Even Tone: Ingredients like vitamin C, licorice extract, and AHAs in serums combat dullness, dark spots, and uneven skin tone caused by lack of sleep and jet lag.
5. Soothing and Calming: For sensitive skin prone to irritation, serums with soothing agents like chamomile, aloe vera, and green tea extract provide relief from redness, inflammation, and stress-related skin issues.
Dewanshi Gupta, Lifestyle, Beauty and Travel Influencer said, “Skincare is a must for me and this is one thing I don’t skip, even when I’m travelling. One product I love is serums as it preps my skin well and makes it hydrated and glowing. Charmis Super Hydrating Face Serum With Hyaluronic Acid has been one of my go to serums as it hydrates my skin really well and it is ultra-lightweight which feels soothing on the skin.”

Tips for Using Serums While Travelling
= Apply serums after cleansing and before moisturizing for maximum absorption.
= Patch test new serums before travel to avoid skin reactions.
= Choose travel-friendly packaging for convenience.
= Maintain consistent use of serums to see long-term benefits.
With the right serums in your skincare arsenal, you can achieve a jet-set glow that reflects your well-nourished and protected skin, no matter how far your travels take you.

</excerpt>

Embark on a journey to radiant skin as we delve into the experts’ insights. Discover the keys to unlocking your skin’s full potential with personalized facial treatments tailored to your unique needs.

Maintaining optimal skin health is paramount for a radiant appearance. Facials serve as a rejuvenating solution, enhancing skin condition and promoting a sense of revitalization and tranquility post-treatment. However, amidst a plethora of facial options, selecting the most suitable one tailored to individual skin needs can be daunting. Dermatologist Dr. Jyoti Gupta, MD Dermatology, emphasizes the importance of a thorough skin analysis prior to opting for a facial.

For oily or acne-prone skin, Dr. Gupta recommends treatments like exfoliation, oil reduction peels, or IPL-based lasers to minimize pores. Conversely, for normal skin, a comprehensive facial involving deep cleansing and hydration infusion is ideal. Sensitive skin requires gentle, non-exfoliating approaches, such as IPL-based calming lasers and serum infusion. Dehydrated skin benefits from moisture-rich facials like micro-infusion and vampire facials, whereas tanned or unevenly pigmented skin benefits from brightening treatments such as laser toning and peels. Aging skin benefits from radio frequency-based facials like HIFU and Endymed RF for firmness and radiance restoration.

Dr. Gupta underscores key considerations before embarking on a facial journey. Caution should be exercised with exfoliation to prevent capillary damage, while facial massages should be approached with care to avoid pore blockages. Excessive bleaching agents can exacerbate dry skin and lead to pigmentation concerns. Additionally, Dr. Gupta distinguishes medical facials from salon facials, emphasizing the importance of consulting a dermatologist to assess suitability and potential downtime.

As individuals seek to optimize their skincare regimens, Dr. Gupta’s insights serve as invaluable guidance, ensuring informed decisions and optimal outcomes in facial treatments. It’s imperative to prioritize skin health and make informed choices to achieve lasting radiance and vitality.

</excerpt>

One of the infamous lakes on India includes the ‘Dal lake’ of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The lake is surrounded by rich and fertile soils including the ‘black soil’ making it a tourist attraction. People from around the world visit the lake to witness its beauty but also for the ‘black oil’ found here.

The black soil is said to have many skincare benefits, some of them are:

Natural Exfoliation: Black soil may contain fine particles that can act as a natural exfoliant. Gently scrubbing the skin with black soil may help remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother complexion.

Mineral Enrichment: Black soil is often rich in minerals and organic matter. These minerals can nourish the skin, potentially improving its texture and overall health.

Absorption of Toxins: Certain types of soil, including black soil, have the ability to absorb toxins. Applying a paste of black soil on the skin may help draw out impurities, providing a detoxifying effect.

Improved Circulation: Massaging the skin with black soil may stimulate blood circulation. Enhanced blood flow can contribute to a healthy and vibrant complexion.

Balancing Oil Production: Black soil’s mineral content may help balance the skin’s oil production. This can be beneficial for individuals with oily or combination skin, promoting a more balanced complexion.

Skin Hydration: The organic matter in black soil may contribute to skin hydration. It can help retain moisture, preventing dryness and promoting a supple appearance.

Antioxidant Properties: Some soils contain natural antioxidants that can protect the skin from environmental damage. These antioxidants may help combat free radicals, contributing to anti-aging effects.

While these potential benefits are interesting to consider, it’s important to note that using soil directly on the skin may have risks, such as the presence of contaminants or allergens. Before attempting any skincare routine involving natural substances, it’s advisable to conduct a patch test to ensure compatibility with your skin and to consult with a dermatologist for personalized advice.
