Bihar: 3 Family Members Shot Dead Over Sand Dispute In Buxar

A violent land and sand-related conflict turned fatal in Bihar’s Buxar district on Saturday morning, as three members of a family were shot dead in Ahiyapur village under Rajpur police station limits. Two others suffered critical injuries in the gunfire.

According to police, the incident took place around 5:15 am and stemmed from a long-standing dispute between two parties over gravel and sand. Armed attackers reportedly opened fire, killing two individuals instantly, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment at a medical facility.

Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya said, “The incident happened at around 5:15 am. In this matter between the two parties, 2 people died on the spot, while 1 died during medical treatment.”

Law enforcement officials have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the violence and identify those responsible. Further details are awaited.

Shocking CCTV Footage Reveals Attack

The CCTV footage shows Singh casually conversing with neighbors during his routine evening walk when two men arrived on a motorcycle. After a brief interaction, the attackers suddenly opened fire, shooting Singh multiple times before fleeing. Singh collapsed as the attackers fired a final shot and left the scene. Family members rushed him to a hospital in Gwalior, where he was pronounced dead.

Background and Ongoing Investigation

Singh, recently released on a 15-day parole due to good behavior, was serving a life sentence for a 2016 murder. Having come out on October 28, he was frequently seen walking around his neighborhood. Security concerns have surfaced as the community’s guard post was left unattended for the last two days, giving the attackers unrestricted access.

Upon learning of the shooting, Gwalior Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh Yadav and other senior officers inspected the scene and reviewed CCTV footage. Indian-origin man Sachin Sahoo, 42, was fatally shot by San Antonio police after he allegedly struck two officers with his vehicle while they were attempting to arrest him in connection with an aggravated assault case, according to PTI. Officer Tyler Turner shot Sahoo on April 21. Originally from Uttar Pradesh, sources suggested that Sahoo may have been a naturalized US citizen.

The initial investigation indicated that just before 6:30 pm on April 21, officers responded to a report of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in Cheviot Heights in San Antonio. Upon arrival, they found a 51-year-old woman who had been intentionally struck by a vehicle, and the suspect, Sahoo, had fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Following the incident, San Antonio Police Detectives issued a felony warrant for Sahoo. However, Sahoo returned to the scene hours later, as informed by neighbors to the police. When officers attempted to contact him, he struck two officers with his vehicle. One of the officers fired his weapon, hitting Sahoo, who was declared dead at the scene.

While one of the injured officers received immediate medical attention, the other was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Chief Bill McManus stated that Sahoo had allegedly run over the woman, who was his roommate, with his vehicle. The woman underwent multiple surgeries and was in critical condition.

According to PTI reports, the police had issued an arrest warrant for Sahoo, and a few officers had gone to his known location on April 21 to attempt his arrest.

Sahoo’s ex-wife, Leah Goldstein, mentioned in a report on Kens5.com that Sahoo had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “He suffered the past ten years with bipolar disorder. He also had symptoms of schizophrenia,” she said. “He couldn’t understand what was wrong with him. He would hear voices. And hallucinate and just hear voices and just get stuck in his own mind. I was a stay-at-home mom for many years. He provided for us,” she added.

JDU leader shot dead in Bihar’s Patna

Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader Saurabh Kumar was fatally shot by motorcycle-borne attackers in Patna on Wednesday night, according to police reports. The incident occurred as Saurabh Kumar was returning from a wedding reception. One of his companions was also injured in the attack.

“Saurabh Kumar came with his friends to attend a reception function. While returning he was shot by unidentified assailants who were on a motorcycle. Then he was taken to hospital and one other person named Munmun Kumar also sustained injuries. They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital, however, by then Saurabh Kumar died. We are examining the matter,” said SDPO Masaurhi, Kanhaiya Singh.

The region has been sealed off, and authorities have launched a search operation.

The attack occurred just days ahead of the country’s election.

A spokesperson for the BJP’s J&K division described the assault as the “frustration of adversaries” and emphasized that such actions would not reignite election boycott politics in Kashmir.

“Urge police to track down the killers of this innocent man and punish them sternly,” BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said in a statement.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah conveyed their “shock and sadness” regarding the laborer’s demise, as stated by the National Conference on X.

“They vehemently condemn the attack, emphasizing that such acts of terror hinder peace in J&K,” the party added.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti denounced the killing as a “senseless act of violence,” according to the National Conference.

“My deepest condolences to his family,” she said.

Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman and former CM Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Strongly condemn the tragic Bijbehara attack in which a non local named Raja Shah, of Bihar lost his life in this senseless act of violence. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. This must end, people want peace but militants don’t want peace. We must stand together against this act!”

On April 8, a migrant taxi driver from Delhi was attacked in Herpora, Shopian, sustaining severe injuries.

Indian student shot dead in Canada in his Audi

An Indian student named Chirag Antil (24) was shot dead and found in his car in South Vancouver, Canada according to local police.

As per an official statement from the Vancouver Police Department, authorities were alerted following reports of gunshots by residents near East 55th Avenue and Main Street.

Reaching the spot, the police found Antil dead inside his car. “No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing,” the police stated.

Media reports indicate that according to Chirag’s brother Ronit, Chirag appeared content when they spoke on the phone in the morning. Subsequently, Chirag left in his Audi for an unknown destination, where he was later fatally shot.

As per local media reports, Antil’s family is utilizing the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe to gather funds for repatriating his body to India. Chirag Antil relocated to Vancouver in September 2022 upon completing his MBA at the University Canada West and had recently obtained his work permit.

FIR lodged in the killing of Kar Seva Pramukh

Following the death of Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh who was shot dead by two assailants on motorcycles, an FIR has been filed at Nanakmatta Police Station against former IAS officer Harbansh Singh Chugh and two others, Pritam Singh and Baba Anoop Singh, for their alleged involvement in the murder.

A sevadar of the Kar Seva, Jasbir Singh, claimed that Harbansh Singh Chugh and two others had plotted to assassinate the Kar Seva Pramukh. He further asserted that, aside from these three individuals, others are also implicated in the murder conspiracy.

As per Jasbir Singh, former IAS officer Harbansh Singh Chugh, Pritam Singh, and Baba Anoop Singh allegedly schemed to assassinate Baba Tarsem Singh to thwart any attempts of misappropriating Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib’s property.

The Uttarakhand police stated that they are closely investigating the case and are carrying out raids in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab to locate the accused.

Uttarakhand Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, mentioned that they were informed about two masked attackers who entered Nanakmatta Gurdwara and shot Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh. Singh was swiftly taken to Khatima hospital, but unfortunately, he passed away due to his injuries.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Nanakmatta Gurdwara camp and offered his respects to Baba Tarsem Singh on Thursday. Lok Sabha candidate Ajay Bhatt was also in attendance alongside the Chief Minister.

According to the police, Baba Tarsem Singh was hurried to Khatima hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds and was subsequently pronounced dead by doctors. Police authorities have reached out to central agencies to exchange pertinent information, and an extensive search operation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The state police express confidence in resolving the murder case.

In response to Baba Tarsem Singh’s murder, CM Dhami has instructed the Uttarakhand DGP to promptly and rigorously pursue action against the perpetrators.

The Chief Minister stated that an SIT has been established to probe this incident, and senior police officials have been firmly instructed to swiftly apprehend these murderers, who are enemies of society and humanity.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the Nanakmatta area of Udham Singh Nagar district to uphold peace, and the police have urged the Sikh community to maintain calm.

Meanwhile, SDM Khatima Ravindra Singh Bisht mentioned that the law and order situation in the area is stable.

BJP leader shot dead at his office in Delhi

Surendra Matiala, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader, was shot dead at his office in the national capital’s Dwarka area on Saturday by two unidentified assailants, police said. According to police, a shooting occurred on Friday evening in the Bindapur area, where the 60-year-old man was killed.

According to police sources, two assailants wearing masks entered Matiala’s office and opened fire on the BJP leader. Before fleeing, they fired ten rounds at Matiala. According to sources, the BJP leader was declared dead at the hospital where he was rushed.

According to them, the assailants had reached the victim’s shop on a motorcycle. A third person stayed with the bike while the two suspects carried out the attack, after which they fled on the bike. Matiala’s niece and one other person present at the time of the attack were able to survive the attack because they managed to hide below a table, police said.

A police case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched. They have taken possession of the deceased’s body, and a postmortem has been conducted. The police are also scanning through the CCTV cameras in the region.

According to police sources, Matiala was involved in a property dispute, and police are also investigating that. Matiala lived in the Uttam Nagar area with his family. He was also the co-in-charge of the Najafgarh Kisan Morcha. He had also contested the MCD elections on a BJP ticket.

Lawyer shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Dwarka

A lawyer was shot dead by two unidentified bike-borne assailants in New Delhi’s Dwarka area on Saturday, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Virender Kumar. The incident happened at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Dwarka-1 area of Delhi, when the victim was travelling in a car. The police said that the lawyer had also been attacked before.

Isha Alya, actor of Jharkhand, shot dead by snatchers in West Bengal

Isha Alya, an actor from Jharkhand, was allegedly shot dead by snatchers early on Wednesday morning on National Highway 16 in Howrah, West Bengal, according to police.

The event happened as the actress, her husband Prakash Kumar, and their 3-year-old daughter were travelling from Ranchi to Kolkata.

A police investigation has been opened as a result of Kumar’s complaint. In order to reenact the incident, the detectives also interrogated Kumar and took him to the crime scene. Police are also getting video from a CCTv set up in a nearby factory that is near the crime scene.

“According to the complaint, the family was heading towards Kolkata in their car. They stopped at a desolate place around 6am where Kumar wanted to answer the nature’s call. Three snatchers attacked them. When Alya tried to resist, she was shot from a point blank range,” said a police officer.

“She was a popular actor in Jharkhand. Even though her actual name is Riya Kumari her screen name is Isha Alya,” Kumar, who described himself as a film director, told media persons.

According to the complainant, there were three miscreants. They attacked Kumar when he got down to answer the nature’s call.

“My wife was sitting in the car with our daughter. When the miscreants tried to snatch my wallet, my wife got down and tried to resist. They shot her,” Kumar told reporters.

Locals claim that Kumar drove down around two kilometres to seek assistance because the location was so deserted. Alya was pronounced dead after the victim was taken urgently to the Uluberia hospital.

Forest guards killed 5 people in disputed area along Assam-Meghalaya border

When Meghalayans were returning with timber from a disputed area near the two states’ border, Assam’s forest guards allegedly opened fire, killing five of them. To prevent more violence, authorities were compelled to suspend mobile internet access in the surrounding districts.

This comes after the chief ministers of Assam and Meghalaya, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Conrad Sangma, inked a deal in March to settle the five-decade-old conflict in six of the 12 contested areas along their 884.9 km-long border. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, described the agreement as historic and predicted that its signature will end the issue in 70% of cases. In August, Sarma and Sangma held negotiations to settle the conflict in the remaining regions.

Eyewitnesses said the guards first fired at the tyres of the vehicles carrying the timber to halt them. The guards then allegedly fired when they realised they were outnumbered as agitated drivers and other occupants of the vehicles alighted and informed residents of a nearby village. Four people died on the spot while a fifth person succumbed to his injuries at a nearby health centre.

Unverified sources said the clash also claimed the life of a forest guard and badly injured a number of others.

The incident was confirmed and Davis NR Marak, the deputy inspector general in charge of Meghalaya’s eastern range, said he was en route to the scene. Information is now quite hazy, but I’m headed there to find out what’s going on.

Punjab: Shiv Sena leader shot dead in Amritsar

Sudhir Suri, Shiv Sena leader shot in Amritsar on Friday. The incident took the life of Shiv Sena leader.

During an agitation, shooting occurred in Amritsar close to Gopal Mandir. Suri was taken to a hospital shortly after the incident, where he passed away. When police arrived, they detained the suspect. The weapons were also found by the police.

“Sudhir Suri was shot outside Gopal Mandir, Amritsar during some agitation. He sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital and died. The accused has been arrested. His weapons are recovered,” Arun Pal Singh, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar said.

Five bullets were fired at Suri, after which he lost consciouness and was taken to the hospital. The doctors declared him dead.

After some broken statues were discovered amid rubbish outside the temple grounds, Shiv Sena leaders staged a sit-in protest against the temple officials.During the protest, one person from the crowd fired at Suri.

According to rumours, Suri was already protected by a sizable security posse since he was on a hit list. The alleged assailant was grabbed by the crowd, and police eventually arrested him. Sandeep Singh has been named as the alleged attacker.

Reacting to the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tajinder Singh Bagga slammed Aam Aadmdi Party (AAP) government and said that law and order has collapsed in Punjab. “Law and order collapsed in Punjab, Shiv sena leader Sudhir Suri injured in firing in Amritsar,” he tweeted.

Suri was arrested on charges after he used offensive language against a particular community and hurting the religious sentiments in July this year.

A video was posted on social media by him where he, along with some of his associates, can be heard saying objectionable words against the community.

Life sentence awarded to man who shot dead Radhika Tanwar confirmed by Delhi HC

The appeal challenging the conviction and life sentence awarded to a man who shot dead Radhika Tanwar, Delhi University student near Satya Niketan on Dhaula Kuan foot over bridge in March 2011.

This happened after the dead refused to the inmate’s advances, who had previously stalked and teased her. On Monday, the High Court denied Vijay Saini’s appeal, noting that the evidence of witnesses and the convict’s mobile position at the scene of the crime proved his actions as he fled to Mumbai after committing the crime.

The division bench which was comprised of justice Mukta Gupta and Anish Dayal said, “Court finds that the guilt of the appellant for the murder of the deceased has been proved beyond reasonable doubt and duly supported by circumstantial evidence by the prosecution.”

“Consequently, this Court finds no error in the judgment of conviction and order on sentence by the Trial Court,” the bench said in judgement passed on October 31.

The bench observed, “Even though there were no direct eye witnesses at the point of shooting the deceased, the testimonies of Narbahadur and Ajit Singh were consistent in that both had heard a sound of a fire shot and both had seen the girl on the ramp of the flyover and while one had seen a boy standing next to her with something hidden under his shirt, the other had seen a boy running away with a pistol in his hand.”

The bench noted that since both had identified the appellant in front of the police and later in court and were unrelated witnesses, they had no basis or reason to falsely accuse the appellant.
The court ruled that the appellant’s motivation for killing the deceased is also clear from the testimony of Pankaj and Ravi, who claimed that the appellant was present in their village, where the deceased resided, 2-3 years ago. They intervened and beat the appellant up because the deceased had complained that he was stalking and tease her.

Both have testified that they took the appellant to the deceased’s home, where the deceased’s father also beat him up. This was confirmed by the testimony of the deceased’s father as well.

The bench observed, “The presence of the appellant in the area of the deceased’s residence and at the place of incident is further corroborated by the CDR record. An analysis of the CDR for mobile of the appellant reveals that between 22nd December, 2010 and 2nd March, 2011 the location of the call phone of the appellant can be traced to Naraina village near the residence of the deceased on multiple occasions.”

The appellant’s cell phone was discovered close to the deceased student’s college at Satya Niketan on December 20 and 29, 2010, as well as on February 20, 2011, the bench observed.

“The said circumstance of absconding immediately after the incident of murder would be admissible as “relevant conduct” under Section 8 of the Evidence Act,” the bench observed.

Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif shot dead in Kenya

Man shot dead while returning home in Delhi

A shocking incident has happened yet again in Delhi where a man was shot dead by two people on a bike in the Bindapur area of Delhi. Police stated that the incident took place on Monday morning. Mohit Arora, 32, was attacked in the morning when he was returning home in Manas Kunj in Uttam Nagar from his shop. Mohit was on a two-wheeler at around 12:30 am, two bike-borne assailants crossed him and one of them opened fire at Arora leaving him gravely injured. He was rushed to the nearest hospital but he was declared brought dead by the doctors according to an official.

“Police reached the spot after a call was received and a case has been registered against the unidentified accused,” the official said.

Teams of Delhi Police have been organised to find the accused, and more investigation is being conducted.
Two people, both 18 years old, were recently detained by the Delhi Police concerning a homicide in Jahangirpuri. The victim’s chest was allegedly stabbed in the same location by the suspects, Noni and Sachin.

Two shot dead in Bihar capital

Two youths were shot dead on Wednesday morning by unknown individuals in Patna, the capital of Bihar.

The incident happened close to Loha Godam, which is located in Patna city’s Badi Pahari area.

The area comes under the Bypass police station.

The youths were on a scooter when unknown assailants started firing at them and fled.

One of the youths passed away immediately, while the other died on the way to the hospital.

Police arrived at the scene as soon as they received the information.

Along with other law enforcement officers, Patna City SP Pramod Yadav arrived.

The deceased were identified as ChotiChoti Pahari area resident Saurabh Kumar alias Golu and Gulzarbagh area resident Chandan Kumar.

Police are looking through the area’s CCTV footage to find the attackers. The investigation is in progress.
