These new varieties offer higher yields, need less water, and are free from foreign DNA, setting a new benchmark in sustainable farming.
</excerpt>

Indian researchers have made a historic breakthrough in agricultural technology by creating the world’s first genome-edited rice varieties. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the two climate-resilient varieties—’ DRR Dhan 100 (Kamala)’ and ‘Pusa DST Rice 1’—that offer 25% higher yield and use less water for cultivation. Created using 21st-century genome editing technology, this achievement places India at the vanguard of sustainable agriculture.

India Pioneers Genome Editing in Rice

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, and the Indian Rice Research Institute, Hyderabad, created these new varieties through the application of advanced genome editing tools. These new varieties are climate-resilient and designed to resist environmental stress while providing higher productivity.

In doing so, India became the first nation in the world to create Genome-Edited (GE) rice varieties. These rice varieties have substantial advantages in productivity, climate tolerance, and water conservation.

Not Genetically Modified, but Genome-Edited

An important point of distinction is that these varieties do not have any foreign DNA, making them different from genetically modified (GM) plants. Therefore, issues related to GM foods are not relevant in this case.

Scientists employed sophisticated genome editing techniques like CRISPR-Cas9 to modify the native genes of the rice for desirable traits without adding foreign genetic content.

Increasing Yield, Preserving Environment

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan greeted the success as a “classic example” of integrating increased production of crops with the protection of the environment.

“These new varieties will not only increase production but also bear good returns in terms of the environment. It will conserve water and greenhouse gas emissions and, consequently, environmental pressure will come down,” he added.

He added further, “In the future, food security is required to be ensured, production needs to be raised, feeding India and the world, and turning India into the food basket of the world.”

India’s success with exports of rice also came into the spotlight in celebration of the same: “We are delighted that due to our initiatives, Rs 48,000 crore worth of Basmati rice gets exported each year.” Nonetheless, the newly released genome-edited ones are non-basmati rice.

Climate-Smart Agriculture Receives a Boost

These genome-edited varieties have been given proper bio-safety clearances under India’s eased regulations, according to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Their cultivation on five million hectares is likely to give an additional 4.5 million tons of paddy. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions will be lowered by 20%, or 32,000 tons.

These crops need a shorter cultivation period and less water. Water conserved from only three cycles of irrigation totals 7,500 million cubic meters, which can be utilized for growing other crops.

A Golden Day for Agricultural Research

Dr. M.L. Jat, the Department of Agricultural Research Secretary and Director General ICAR, defined this as a “golden day for India’s agricultural research.” He reiterated that demand-driven research was important and highlighted getting input from farmers for customizing innovation to suit them.

“This philosophy will help assure that the result of the research is customized to address farmers’ needs and rightly deliver the proper solutions,” he added.

Revolutionary Achievement with International Acclaim

“It is a revolutionary breakthrough,” Dr. C. Viswanathan, a senior scientist at IARI, said, beaming with pride, “Indian scientists created global history.” In another reaction, Professor Rajeev Varshney, Director at Murdoch University in Australia, complimented India on its focus on biotechnology.

“I congratulate India on its commitment towards harnessing cutting-edge biotechnological tools to develop crop resilience, productivity, and sustainability against the challenges caused by climate change and resource scarcity with an ultimate goal to support its farmers,” he said to NDTV.

Government Initiative and Future Strategy with Genome-Edited Rice

As part of the 2023–24 budget, the Indian government has assigned ₹500 crore exclusively for genome editing research in agriculture. ICAR is currently taking this research to other crops such as oilseeds and pulses under a larger initiative that focuses on livestock, fisheries, and microbial varieties as well.

Genome editing by Site Directed Nuclease technologies SDN1 and SDN2 is safe. The technologies generate genetic alterations indistinguishable from natural ones, thereby exempting them from rigorous bio-safety rules under Rules 7–11 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

From Traditional Varieties to Modern Miracles

ICAR initiated this effort in 2018 by identifying two of the most cultivated rice varieties—Samba Mahsuri (BPT5204) and MTU1010 (Cottondora Sannalu). Cultivated on more than nine million hectares in India, these varieties had poor climate resilience and yield.

Samba Mahsuri has a good grain and high market price but is susceptible to pests, disease, and abiotic stress. MTU1010 has quicker maturity and fits the Rabi season in the southern region of India, but fails under drought conditions and saline soil.

Through genome editing, scientists improved both varieties’ stress tolerance, yield, and maintained their native grain quality. Institutional Biosafety Committees and the Review Committee on Genetic Manipulation cleared them for release under eased genome editing regulations.

Dr. Satendra K. Mangrauthia, breeder of rice at the Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad, reported, “They have the same grain and cooking quality which makes Samba Mahsuri a consumer favorite.”

Vision for Viksit Bharat

Minister Chouhan proposed the “Minus 5 and Plus 10” formula, where rice cultivation would be cut by five million hectares but output would be raised by ten million tons. This change would release land for pulses and oilseed crops, enhancing India’s agricultural diversity and self-reliance.

India’s successful application of genome-editing in rice is a historic leap towards Viksit Bharat—an India that is food secure, climate resilient, and internationally competitive in agricultural innovation.

DGCA has sought a response, and the civil aviation ministry is investigating the matter.
</excerpt>

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked Air India to explain itself after Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lashed out at the airline’s service on social media. Chouhan claimed he was given a “broken and sunken seat” on Air India flight AI436 while he was traveling from Bhopal to Delhi on Saturday.

Disappointed, Chouhan said he had hoped for better service from Air India following its acquisition by Tata but was disappointed.

Minister Criticizes Air India’s Service on Social Media

Posting on social media, Chouhan complained about the substandard seat quality, terming it “unethical” to offer full fare to passengers while delivering faulty seats.

“My impression was that Air India’s service would improve after Tata took over, but it turned out to be my misconception,” Chouhan said in a tweet on Saturday. “I don’t mind discomfort in sitting, but it is unethical to make passengers sit on bad and uncomfortable seats after charging them the full fare. Isn’t this cheating the passengers?,” Chouhan tweeted.

— Shivraj Singh Chouhan (@ChouhanShivraj) February 22, 2025

His complaint has fueled widespread debates over Air India’s service standards and passenger comfort.

DGCA and Aviation Ministry Act Promptly

In response to Chouhan’s statement, the DGCA asked Air India for a response to the minister’s grievance. An aviation ministry official confirmed the development and said, “DGCA has sought a response from Air India on the issue of broken seats highlighted by the Union minister.”

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu also reacted, stating, “We spoke to the Air India immediately on this issue and instructed them to take necessary action. From our side DGCA will also be looking into details of matter promptly. And I have personally spoken to Shivraj ji also.”

Also, the ministry has spoken to Air India’s CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson, asking the airline to resolve the issue at the earliest. “We have advised Air India’s CEO to handle the matter on top priority,” a Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) spokesperson said.

Air India Issues Apology, Vows Probe

Following the outrage, Air India made an official apology, admitting the trouble caused to the minister.

“Air India deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji on his flight from Bhopal to Delhi,” an Air India spokesperson said.

“This does not reflect the standard of service we strive to provide to our guests, and we are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that such incidents are not repeated,” the spokesperson added.

Minister Details His Ordeal on AI436

Detailing further about the experience, Chouhan elaborated, “Today, I had to travel from Bhopal to Delhi to inaugurate the Kisan Mela in Pusa, hold a meeting of the Natural Farming Mission in Kurukshetra, and discuss matters with the honourable representatives of the Kisan Organization in Chandigarh. I had booked a ticket on Air India flight AI436 and was allotted seat 8C. When I sat down, I found the seat was broken and sunken. It was uncomfortable.”

“When I asked the airline staff why such a seat was assigned to me, they told me that the management had been informed earlier that the seat was not in good condition and that its ticket should not have been sold. This is not the only seat like this, there are many others,” he continued.

Chouhan said that other passengers asked him to change seats, but he did not want to disturb another person. “But why should I trouble another person for my sake? I decided to complete my journey sitting in the same seat,” he said.

Demands for Air India to Enhance Service Standards

The minister also questioned Air India’s management by asking, “Will Air India take steps to ensure that no passenger faces such inconvenience in the future, or will it continue to take advantage of passengers’ compulsion to reach their destinations quickly”

During the controversy, Air India announced that it had initiated a full-scale retrofit of its older planes. The project involves replacing all seats and renovating cabin interiors.

The carrier plans to have its narrow-body jet retrofitting done by mid-year, while wide-body aircraft is to start soon and be completed next year. However, the global supply chain disruptions have delayed those timelines.

While DGCA and the aviation ministry continue to look into the matter, passengers and industry observers closely observe how Air India will remedy this problem and enhance its service standard in the next few months.

</excerpt>

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday condemned Air India for inadequate seat management after he received a broken seat, questioning whether the airline was deceiving its passengers.

Taking to X, the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister recounted his experience, stating, “Today I needed to travel from Bhopal to Delhi, inaugurate the Kisan Mela in Pusa, conduct a meeting of the Natural Farming Mission in Kurukshetra, and confer with the representatives of the Kisan Organisation in Chandigarh. I had reserved a ticket on Air India flight number AI436, and my assigned seat was 8C. I went and occupied the seat, but it was broken and sunken in. It was uncomfortable to sit on. ”

He also mentioned that when he asked the airline staff about the problem, they acknowledged that the management was already aware of the seat’s state and that it should not have been given to any passenger.

Although fellow passengers offered to change seats, Chouhan opted to stay in his designated seat to avoid causing inconvenience to others.

Nevertheless, he expressed his concerns regarding Air India’s service, saying, “I don’t mind sitting discomfort, but it is unethical to have passengers sit on bad and uncomfortable seats after charging them the full fare. Isn’t this deceiving the passengers? ”

Chouhan conveyed his disappointment, indicating that he had anticipated improvements in Air India’s service after the Tata Group’s acquisition but felt disillusioned.

He questioned the airline’s management, asking, “Will the Air India management take action to prevent any passenger from experiencing such inconvenience in the future, or will it keep exploiting the passengers’ need to arrive at their destination promptly? ”

Air India Responds

In response to Chouhan’s complaint, Air India released an official statement expressing regret for the incident.

“Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to Honorable Union Minister, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan ji on his flight from Bhopal to Delhi,” said a spokesperson for the airline.

“This does not represent the standard of service we aim to provide to our guests, and we are undertaking a comprehensive investigation into the issue to guarantee that similar incidents do not occur again,” the statement added.

</excerpt>

As political tensions escalate in poll-bound Jharkhand, Union Minister and BJP in-charge for the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced on Monday that the party plans to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Jharkhand. He criticized the Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led government for allegedly favoring infiltrators.

Speaking to ANI, Chouhan stated, “BJP is preparing to release its election manifesto. This election is not just about appointing a Chief Minister or gaining power; it’s about safeguarding Jharkhand. We are committed to protecting ‘Roti, Mati, aur Beti.’ The influx of infiltrators from Bangladesh is rapidly altering the region’s demographics. The tribal population in the Santhal region has plummeted from over 44 percent to just 28 percent, severely impacting the local community.”

Chouhan further accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of supporting these infiltrators for vote bank politics. “We will implement the NRC in Jharkhand, where local residents will be registered, and intruders will be identified and expelled,” he added.

On October 5, the BJP introduced its ‘Paanch Prana’ initiative, aimed at youth and women in Jharkhand, as part of their election manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections. The five promises made by the party include the Yuva Sathi, Gogo Didi Yojana, Ghar Saakar, Laxmi Johar, and ‘Assured Employment’ schemes.

The Gogo Didi Yojana will provide women with monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,100. Under the assured employment promise, the BJP has committed to creating 500,000 jobs for youth within five years. The Ghar Saakar initiative aims to ensure housing for all.

Additionally, the Yuva Sathi scheme will offer Rs 2,000 in financial support to youth preparing for competitive exams, while graduate and postgraduate students will also receive the same amount. The party plans to fill more than 200,000 vacant positions in the state, with recruitment processes commencing in the first cabinet meeting. By 2025, the government aims to complete the hiring of 100,000 new government employees.

Under the Laxmi Johar scheme, all families in the state will receive Rs 500 for gas cylinders, with two gas cylinders provided free each year, particularly during festivals.

Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government’s tenure concludes in January 2025. The Election Commission has yet to announce the election schedule.

In the previous assembly elections in 2020, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha secured 30 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 25 and the Congress took 16 seats.

</excerpt>

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan strongly criticized the Congress-JMM alliance in Jharkhand on Sunday, accusing both parties of habitual dishonesty. He emphasized that the BJP would unveil the shortcomings of the Hemant Soren administration. It’s worth noting that Jharkhand is one of the states scheduled for elections later this year.

Shivraj said, “Congress and JMM have become machines of lying, they lie every day that they have achieved success even with fewer seats. The same has happened in Jharkhand. If we convert the Lok Sabha results into Assembly results, we have won 52 seats out of 81.”

Chouhan also raised doubts about the accomplishments of the alliance during their five-year tenure, questioning what they have achieved. He pointed out that JMM’s manifesto includes 144 promises and Congress’s manifesto has 133 promises. Chouhan challenged Hemant Soren to clarify how many of these promises have been fulfilled, accusing them of misleading different segments of society. He stated his intention to expose the Hemant Soren government by highlighting the unfulfilled promises of the JMM-Congress alliance to the public.

“The promises included promises for the youth, stating that within two years of forming the government, jobs would be provided to thousands of Jharkhand youths in various vacant government positions. Until jobs are provided, graduates would receive Rs 5000 and postgraduates Rs 7000 per month. Hemant Soren did not give employment to even a single youth,” he said.

He further accused the government of misleading women, alleging that they were promised a monthly allowance of Rs 2000.

“Additionally, promises were made to farmers, including the establishment of a farmers’ bank. Under the previous BJP government led by Raghubar Das, Rs 5000 was given under the Mukhyemantri Krishi Samriddhi Yojana, which was discontinued by the Hemant Soren government,” he added.

The Union Minister underscored that the BJP would bring Hemant Soren’s commitments to the forefront and ensure accountability from the government for their actions.

</excerpt>

The present focus is on the ongoing meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking place at the party’s central offices in the national capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is at the helm of the proceedings, with the expectation that he will finalize the preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In attendance at the meeting are Party President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, representatives, and Chief Ministers from 16 states.

On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived for the BJP CEC meeting, receiving a warm welcome from BJP chief JP Nadda. Notable attendees included Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and KP Maurya also made their way to the BJP headquarters in Delhi for the meeting.

The representatives and chief ministers from the 16 states present at the CEC meeting are from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Goa, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Assam, Chandigarh, and Telangana. The party is expected to unveil a list of over 100 names in the coming days, with the initial list likely featuring prominent leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

Initial focus may be on states where the BJP is contesting independently, and the list may include some constituencies lost by the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. For instance, in Uttar Pradesh, discussions have revolved around candidates for 14 Lok Sabha seats lost in 2019, and the first list might encompass around 40 names from the electorally crucial state.

Madhya Pradesh’s recommendations to the central leadership include the names of notable figures like former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and senior party functionaries Kailash Vijayvargiya and Narottam Mishra. Rajasthan’s first list may comprise 15 names, including some prominent leaders, and Odisha’s list is expected to feature names of senior leaders and party functionaries.

In preparation for the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP leadership held a core group meeting on Wednesday, engaging in discussions with leaders from different states regarding the panel of names recommended by the respective state units.

Celebrating the ‘Ram Rath Yatra’ at his Bhopal residence, Chouhan expressed joy over the imminent consecration of Lord Ram’s grand temple in Ayodhya by PM Modi on January 22, next year.

Amid speculation among senior BJP leaders vying for the Chief Minister’s post after the party’s resounding triumph in the state’s recent assembly polls, Chouhan clarified his stance, stating he never aspired to the position and remains a committed party worker.

“I’ve never aimed for the Chief Minister’s post—not then, not now. I’ll tirelessly carry out any party duties entrusted to me. Working with PM Narendra Modi has always been a source of pride,” Chouhan emphasized in his statement to ANI.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Kamal Nath held a review meeting with party candidates in Bhopal, expressing optimism among party workers and announcing plans to travel to Delhi.

Madhya Pradesh’s recent assembly elections on November 17 saw the BJP secure a resounding victory with 163 out of 230 seats. The Congress trailed with 66 seats, while the Bharat Adivasi Party won a single seat, as announced last Sunday along with the results of three other states.

</excerpt>

In anticipation of the imminent vote counting in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confidently stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form a robust government in the state with a substantial majority.

Addressing reporters in Bhopal on Saturday, CM Chouhan expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, emphasizing the widespread support garnered from all segments of society. He mentioned the blessings received from various sections, including ‘Ladli Bahna’ (beloved sisters) and the younger generation, asserting that the BJP has secured backing from diverse social strata, indicating a decisive victory.

Referring to the speculation on the BJP’s seat count, Chouhan indicated a paradigm shift in outcomes and remained non-committal, stating, “All previous estimations would prove inadequate.”

Responding to the Congress party’s assertion of confidence in victory, Chouhan refrained from making explicit comments, suggesting that clarity on the election results would prevail only on the upcoming day.

Madhya Pradesh witnessed a substantial voter turnout of 77.15% across its 230 constituencies during the elections held on November 17. The eagerly anticipated vote counting is scheduled for December 3.

Exit polls largely favor the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, with most projections positioning them ahead, although a few projections present a favorable outlook for the Congress party.

After four days of rescue efforts an eight-year-old, who fell into a borewell in a Madhya Pradesh village of Betul district died on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a compensation of Rs 4 lakh has been offered by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who also expressed his condolences.

Taking to Twitter CM Chouhan said, “It is very sad that little Tanmay (Sahu), who fell in a borewell in Betul’s Mandvi village, could not be saved even after tireless efforts by the administration. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this loss, Om Shanti.”

Moreover, the ex-gratia has been announced for the kin of the deceased. “Tanmay’s family should not consider themselves alone in this hour of grief, I and the entire Madhya Pradesh are with the family. Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the victim’s family by the state government. May God give the departed soul a place at his holy feet. Humble tribute!,” Chouhan said.

While playing on the farm around 5 pm on Tuesday 8-year-old Tanmay Sahu fell into the borewell and within the next hour, the rescue operation started.

However, over the four days State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local police personnel were on the job to rescue the child. After rescuing at Betul District Hospital Tanmay’s body was taken by ambulance.

Furthermore, immediate results were demanded by the boy’s family and the mother of Tanmay’s Jyoti Sahu”Give me my child, whatever it may be. Would it have taken so much time even if it was a child of a leader or an officer? So much time has passed, and they are not saying anything. Not even allowing me to see.”

“My 12-year-old daughter saw him falling into the borewell and informed me about the incident. We immediately rushed to the spot. He was breathing and we listened to his voice as we enquired. The rescue operation was started from 6 pm onwards on December 6,” Tanmay’s father Sunil Sahu said.

Henceforth, Geeta Mankar Tanmay’s teacher said, “Tanmay is a student of Class 3. The children of his school, including teachers, chanted Gayatri Mantra for his safety. The teachers and students have prayed to God that Tanmay comes out safely from the borewell. Tanmay is an intelligent student. His safety will be the victory of all of us.”

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, celebrated Govardhan Puja in the state capital Bhopal on Wednesday. A program of environmental protection was also organised on the occasion at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Centre.

Virtually every district in the state has joined the programme. CM Chouhan urged farmers to promote natural farming at the programme. A vow to plant trees on birthdays, conserve water and electricity, bake with cow dung instead of wood, practice natural farming, donate to the cause of cow grass, avoid burning crop residue, and protect cultural heritage was also made possible by CM Chouhan.

CM Chouhan further said, “Govardhan puja is the program of our traditional festival which has been going on since time immemorial and is also important from the contemporary point of view. Govardhan Puja is the worship of environment and nature.”

“This program has been organised for serious thinking. We have to find a solution to the problem and to think about the coming generations. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set many goals in front of us for environmental protection. If we want to save the earth then we have to change our lifestyle. We should plant at least a tree on the occasion of birthdays,” he said.

He further said, “There are more than 1.87 crore cows in the state. I appeal to the entire people that we should try to save the cows. At present there are 1,700 gaushalas in the state. 1,404 new gaushala have been completed. 1,800 gaushalas are being constructed. The manufacturing of gas and CNG under the Govardhan Yojana has been started in Indore. If the cowshed is run properly, then the cowshed will become self-dependent.”

He pleaded with the populace to help the prime minister succeed in his “Mission Life.” Without “Gross Environment Product,” GDP is insufficient. For the same, the state government has launched the Green Initiative, Chouhan continued.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed his sorrow on Saturday over the deaths of 15 people in the Rewa bus accident and provided an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each deceased person’s family and Rs 50,000 for those who were gravely injured.

The majority of the bus’s passengers, according to Rewa Superintendent of Police Navneet Bhasin, were from Uttar Pradesh. A passenger bus and a truck crashed on a road in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Friday night, resulting in up to 15 fatalities. The crash has injured up to 40 people.

“The loss of life in a road accident in Rewa is a very sad incident. I am praying to Lord Shri Ram to give place to the departed souls at his feet and a speedy recovery to the injured. My condolences are with the bereaved families,” the UP Chief Minister’s Office said in a tweet.

The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh added that he had discussed the transfer of the deceased’s lifeless remains as well as the treatment of the injured with his counterpart from Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

“Talks were held with Chief Minister Chouhan Shivraj for proper treatment of the injured and transporting mortal remains of deceased Uttar Pradesh residents to the state. Instructions have been given to provide assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the seriously injured,” CMO added.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, has also expressed sorrow over the deaths.

The Madhya Pradesh administration will transport the passengers’ lifeless remains to Prayagraj, Chouhan informed the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

“Injured passengers have been sent to Prayagraj in two buses overnight after getting treatment. Critically injured passengers are getting treated free of charge at MP’s Rewa Medical College. Rewa district administration is ensuring all necessary arrangements,” said MP CMO in a statement.

On Friday, between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m., a bus travelling from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, collided with a truck trolley in the Suhagi Pahari neighbourhood. There were about 100 passengers on board.

Rewa District Collector Manoj Pushp said: “It seems that the trolley truck had an accident with a truck in front of it, and when the driver applied brakes, the bus behind it rammed into it. Rescue operations were conducted and the injured have been sent to the hospital.”

According to the collector, rescue efforts were finished last night, and police, government officials, and locals are already on the scene.
