</excerpt>

Officials confirmed that Security forces demolished three additional homes of suspected terrorists on Sunday. As a result, the total number of homes destroyed now stands at nine since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The demolitions took place between April 26 and 27. Specifically, the targeted homes were in Zainapora (Shopian), Daramdora (Pulwama), and Naz Colony (Bandipora). These residents are suspected of being involved in terrorism.

Terrorists Linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba

According to officials, all the suspects are linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group. Notably, Dar is connected to LeT’s offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), which claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. Furthermore, Ahmad has reportedly been operating from Pakistan since 2017.

Political Leaders React

The demolitions have sparked reactions from various political leaders in Jammu & Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, for instance, called for strong action against terrorism. He stated on X, “After the Pahalgam terror attack, there must be a decisive fight against terrorism and its origin. People of Kashmir have come out openly against terrorism and the murder of innocent people, they did this freely & spontaneously.”

However, he also emphasized the need to protect innocent civilians. He further wrote, “Punish the guilty, show them no mercy but don’t let innocent people become collateral damage.”

Mufti Calls for Caution

Former CM and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti echoed similar sentiments, urging the government to tread carefully. She posted on X, “It must not alienate innocent people, especially those opposing terror.”

Moreover, Mufti expressed concerns about the arrests and demolitions following the Pahalgam attack. She warned that such actions could inadvertently help terrorists by spreading fear and division. As a result, she urged the government to ensure innocent people do not suffer. She concluded, “Appeal Government to direct the authorities to take care that innocent people are not made to feel the brunt as alienation aids terrorists’ goals of division and fear.”

</excerpt>

Security forces neutralized 16 Naxalites in an intense encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, officials confirmed on Saturday. Two jawans sustained minor injuries during the operation.

The gunfight erupted after the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint anti-Naxal operation on Friday. Intelligence reports had indicated the presence of Naxalites in the Kerlapal area under Sukma police station limits.

Forces began their search operation on March 28, with intermittent firing continuing since the early hours of March 29. Security personnel are now conducting a thorough combing operation in the encounter site and surrounding forested areas. Sukma remains one of the most severely affected districts in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, frequently witnessing Naxal attacks.

Amit Shah: Naxalism Will Be Eradicated by 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently assured Parliament that Naxalism would be eradicated from India by March 31, 2026. He pointed out a significant 53% decline in Naxal violence over the past decade.

“From 2004 to 2014, there were 16,463 Naxal-related incidents, while in the last ten years, the number has significantly reduced. Similarly, security personnel casualties have dropped by 73 per cent, and civilian deaths by 70 per cent,” Shah stated.

Shah also emphasized the government’s efforts to develop infrastructure in Naxal-affected regions. He highlighted the construction of 11,503 km of highways and 20,000 km of rural roads to improve connectivity. Additionally, thousands of mobile towers have been installed, with the goal of achieving full network coverage in affected areas by December 1.

As security forces intensify operations in affected regions, authorities remain focused on dismantling Naxal networks and ensuring stability in insurgency-hit areas.

</excerpt>

A day after Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) militants looted arms and ammunition from a police outpost in Thoubal district, Manipur, security forces launched a massive operation, recovering most of the stolen weapons and arresting a militant.

On Saturday night, around 30 heavily armed KCP militants stormed the Kakmayai police outpost, overpowering the security personnel. The attackers, arriving in three vehicles, stole at least:

Six Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs)

Three AK-47 rifles

A large cache of ammunition

Swift Police Action and Arrest

Following the attack, Manipur Police launched an immediate search operation and arrested a KCP cadre, identified as Hijam Ningthem Singh (49). The operation led to the recovery of:

Three AK-47 rifles

Five SLRs

Several rounds of ammunition

Militant Hideout Busted

Further combing operations were conducted in Ningel, Malom, Toubul, and Langathel, leading to the discovery of a KCP hideout at Langathel Chingkhong. Security forces seized:

48 live rounds of Insas and AK ammunition

25 empty cases of assorted ammunition

Grenades and military fatigues

A Gypsy vehicle, binoculars, bulletproof vests, and armored helmets

Impact of Arms Looting in Manipur

Since the ethnic riots of May 3, 2023, over 6,000 weapons and lakhs of ammunition were looted from police stations and outposts. These weapons have fueled violence in Manipur, with militants and village volunteers in both hilly and valley regions heavily armed.

Despite continuous recovery efforts by security forces, many stolen arms remain unaccounted for.

Government’s Stand on Arms Recovery

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who submitted his resignation on Sunday, and the Home Department have repeatedly urged individuals to return looted arms, warning of strict legal consequences if they fail to comply.

Security forces continue operations across conflict-prone areas to recover missing weapons and prevent further violence in the region.

Additionally, four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants were eliminated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
</excerpt>

Pakistani security forces conducted major operations in Kalat and Harnai, Balochistan, eliminating 23 terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). These clearance operations were part of a broader anti-terror strategy aimed at curbing insurgent activities.

Major Military Operations in Balochistan

A total of 12 terrorists were killed on the night of January 31 – February 1 while attempting to set up roadblocks in Kalat.

Additional 11 terrorists were neutralized in follow-up operations in Harnai.

Security forces have increased sanitization operations across Balochistan in response to recent attacks.

TTP Militants Killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In a separate intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ismail Khan, four Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants were gunned down.

Additionally, on February 1, a fierce encounter in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area led to the killing of six TTP terrorists. However, Pakistan Army suffered two casualties:

Major Hamza Israr (29 years old)

Sepoy Muhammad Naeem (26 years old)

Security Forces’ Ongoing Crackdown

Since December 9, Pakistan’s security forces have intensified their counter-terrorism operations, killing 43 terrorists in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The crackdown has severely disrupted militant networks, particularly Fitna-Al-Khwarij and other terror groups operating in the region.

Conclusion

The latest military operations highlight Pakistan’s determination to root out terrorism and restore stability in its conflict-prone regions. With security forces on high alert, counter-terrorism efforts are expected to continue in the coming months.

He pointed out that in the last five years, 219 were killed and during Modi 3.0 220 Naxalites have been killed in 2024 itself. He added, seven Naxalites were killed in an ongoing encounter.

“Today, action is taken on the basis of information… In the last 5 years, 219 Naxalites were killed and this year 220 Naxalites have been killed…7 Naxalites have been killed in the encounter and the encounter is still going on,” he said.

The bodies of seven uniformed Naxalites were recovered during the search operation.

According to Bastar Police, an exchange of fire between security forces and Naxalites has been underway since 3 am in the forest of Southern Abujhmad on the Dantewada-Narayanpur border.

Inspector General (IG) of Bastar, P Sundarraj, said that the search operation is still underway, and detailed information will be shared after its conclusion.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also lauded the efforts of the security forces. “An anti-Naxal operation was going on in which our security forces succeeded in killing 7 Naxalites. I salute their courage…,” he said.

</excerpt>

At least seven people were killed, including two children, after a powerful car bomb accidentally detonated early Thursday in the town of Mir Ali, a former stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The explosion occurred before dawn in the home of a militant commander, Rasool Jan, while he was reportedly preparing the bomb.

Local police official Irfan Khan confirmed that the explosion led to the collapse of the house, which was destroyed by the blast. Pakistani Taliban members quickly arrived at the scene, retrieving the bodies of the five suspected militants who died in the explosion. Later, authorities recovered the bodies of two children who were killed in the blast. The explosion also caused extensive damage to surrounding homes, injuring at least 14 people, including women. Some of the injured are in critical condition, though further details on their status have not been provided.

Police Believe Bomb Was Intended for Attack on Security Forces

Local authorities suspect that the car bomb was meant for an attack in the region, where the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups frequently target security forces with firearms, grenades, rockets, and suicide bombings. The Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have long operated in the northwest of the country, often clashing with Pakistani security forces.

Separate Suicide Bombing Incident in Charsadda District

In a separate incident on the same day, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle accidentally triggered an explosive device in Charsadda district, killing himself but injuring no one else. Local authorities, including Masood Khan, confirmed the incident, stating that investigators are examining whether the bomber was carrying the explosives or if they were attached to the motorcycle. The intended target of the attack remains unclear.

</excerpt>

A fierce gunfight erupted in a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday morning after security forces initiated a cordon and search operation based on intelligence about terrorist activity in the area.

The encounter began when a joint team of police and Army personnel, acting on a tip-off, launched a search operation in the Pathanateer area near Gursai top in the Mendhar sub-division on Saturday evening. The operation was triggered by reports of terrorists hiding in the village.

During the search, the security forces came under heavy fire from the terrorists, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire that continues intermittently. Reinforcements have been dispatched to support the operation.

Reports suggest that a high-ranking terrorist commander is among the three militants believed to be trapped in the village. This encounter follows a recent operation in Baramulla district, where three terrorists were killed in an overnight clash with security forces.

The operation in Poonch comes just days before the first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Inspector General of Police for the Kashmir Range, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, visited the site and confirmed that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence about militant presence. He assured that the forces are on high alert to ensure that the terrorists do not disrupt the electoral process. The bodies of the terrorists have been located near the encounter site, and the operation is ongoing.

The operation intensified after militants opened fire on a joint patrol party in the Cheel area of Dudu on Monday, resulting in the death of CRPF Inspector Kuldeep Kumar. The incident led to a fierce encounter between the militants and security forces.

“During an area domination patrol at Chill, Dudu, an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and joint parties of the JKP and CRPF. In the encounter, one Inspector of CRPF suffered bullet injuries and attained martyrdom. The operation is ongoing,” said the Udhampur police.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held in honor of Inspector Kuldeep Kumar, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Udhampur-Reasi Range) Rayees Mohammad Bhat acknowledged the challenges faced during the operation, highlighting the difficult terrain, dense forests, and lack of network coverage in the area. “This is very sad, but it is part of our duty,” Bhat remarked. He added that despite the obstacles, security forces are using technology, including drones, to track down and neutralize the remaining militants.

Security has been tightened across the region as the operation continues, with forces remaining on high alert for potential threats. The CRPF paid tribute to Inspector Kumar in a statement on X, saluting his courage and commitment. “CRPF salutes our brave soldier’s indomitable courage, valor, and devotion to the motherland. We always stand with the family of our brave man,” the statement read.

The operation underscores the persistent security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir as the region gears up for its upcoming assembly elections, set to take place in three phases in September and October. </excerpt>

Security forces have detained 24 individuals for questioning as the hunt for the terrorists behind the Kathua terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of five army personnel, entered its third day. Efforts to track down and neutralise the terrorists continue, with the suspects believed to be hiding in a forest.
Officials reported that another search operation is underway in the higher reaches of Doda district, where a gunfight occurred between terrorists and security forces on Tuesday evening, following Monday’s terror attack in Kathua.
In connection with the Kathua terror attack, army and police personnel are deployed in dense forests across Udhampur, Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. Fresh searches began Wednesday morning in the Lala Chack area of Samba, Manjakote area of Rajouri, and Surankote of Poonch.
The attack on Monday took place on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar mountainous road near Badnota village in Lohai Malhar, approximately 150 km from Kathua district headquarters, resulting in the deaths of five army personnel and injuries to several others. Due to the challenging topography, thick foliage, and natural caves, security personnel are moving cautiously, particularly from the Bhaderwah side.
The army’s special forces unit has been deployed for surgical operations in specific areas, supported by helicopter and UAV surveillance. Sniffer dogs and metal detectors are extensively used in the dense forest areas. A team from the National Investigation Agency has visited the ambush scene and is assisting the police in their probe.
In Doda, police and army personnel are combing the Ghadi Bhagwah forest area, located about 35 km east of Doda town and bordering Kishtwar district. The hunt for two terrorists, believed to have been injured in Tuesday’s encounter, resumed early Wednesday. The terrorists remain at large.
In the aftermath of the Kathua terror attack, residents of Badnota village and nearby areas expressed concerns about their safety. They have called for the formation of village defense groups for self-defense and to counter terrorist threats effectively.
“The government should provide weapons and training to us. We are ready to fight shoulder-to-shoulder with our forces against the terrorists,” said Jagdish Raj, a local resident.
Punkaj, a 20-year-old student, highlighted the fear among the local populace but emphasized the confidence that comes with being armed. “We can swiftly move into the forests and help tackle the threat of terrorism,” he said, advocating for a special recruitment drive for local youth.
Shahid Ahmad, who relocated from higher reaches to Machedi due to terror threats, noted the unity between Muslims and Hindus in the area in their desire for peace.

The encounter, which unfolded across two different locations in Kulgam, was based on precise intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 2 Sector, Prithvi Raj Chauhan, underscored the operation’s impact, highlighting that the elimination of these terrorists has left the HM organization leaderless.

“These individuals were key to HM’s operations in the region. Their neutralization has resulted in a considerable leadership vacuum,” Chauhan stated during a press conference. He also acknowledged the crucial support from local residents, emphasizing the strong collaboration between security forces and the community.

Encounter Breakdown

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Kashmir, Javid Iqbal, provided a detailed account of the operations. The first encounter, which began on July 6 and concluded on July 7, resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, including Adil, who had multiple FIRs registered against him for various terrorist activities.

In a concurrent operation in the Chinnigam area, four additional terrorists were killed. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during this encounter, further debilitating the terrorists’ ability to conduct future attacks. “The joint operation has been a resounding success,” stated DIG Iqbal. “The elimination of these six terrorists is a significant blow to terrorist organizations in Kashmir.”

Security Officials’ Statements

Javed Ahmad Matoo, another DIG of South Kashmir, praised the effectiveness of the intelligence and operational capabilities of the security forces. “The operation in Kulgam is a testament to our commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region,” he said.

Matoo elaborated on the encounters, noting that the operations were meticulously planned and executed based on precise intelligence. “The recovery of a large number of arms and ammunition indicates the scale of operations these terrorists were planning. Their elimination is a major step towards ensuring the safety and security of the region,” he added.

Impact on Terrorism in Kashmir

The killing of these six terrorists is hailed as a significant victory for security forces in their ongoing battle against terrorism in Kashmir. This operation has disrupted the command structure of Hizbul Mujahideen, severely compromising its ability to plan and execute attacks.

Security experts believe this operation will have long-term positive implications for the security situation in Kashmir. The collaborative efforts of security forces and local residents were instrumental in achieving this success. “The support of the local community is crucial in our fight against terrorism. Their cooperation has made a significant difference in the outcome of this operation,” GOC Chauhan remarked.

As the region continues to confront the menace of terrorism, the successful elimination of these terrorists serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination of the security forces to restore peace and stability in Kashmir.

According to allegations from police sources to India Today, a shootout broke out in the Bandipora district of north Kashmir on Sunday night, killing an unidentified terrorist.

Initially, reports indicated that two terrorists were hiding in the area, which led to the encounter.

The incident follows a high-level meeting in Delhi chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, focusing on the escalating security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Shah directed senior officials to take decisive action in response to increasing terrorism in the Jammu region. Concurrently, responding to a recent terror attack in Jammu, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan is set to visit Jammu today. He will convene at the White Knight Corps headquarters in Nagrota to receive updates on the current security landscape.

Over the past two weeks, terrorists have carried out attacks across Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in nine deaths, including that of a CRPF jawan.

On June 12, security forces eliminated two suspected Pakistani terrorists in Kathua district and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

The ongoing gunfight in Bandipora underscores the mounting security challenges in the region, prompting intensified efforts from security forces and strategic reviews at the highest levels.

This escalation highlights the persistent threat of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, necessitating heightened vigilance and decisive actions to safeguard civilian lives and maintain stability in the region.
