Gujarat Rains: CM Patel Orders Evacuations, Assures Support to SDRF and NDRF

Amid relentless heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to begin evacuations from low-lying areas to safer locations. The Chief Minister held a meeting on Sunday, issuing instructions and reviewing the situation in the state’s worst-hit districts, including Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, and Panchmahal.

In a statement, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reported that CM Patel had telephonic discussions with the collectors of the affected districts to assess the situation and assured the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) of full state support.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, the highest rainfall recorded on Sunday morning was 64 mm in Sagbara taluk of Narmada district between 6 am and 8 am. Over the past 24 hours, Vapi in Valsad district recorded the maximum rainfall of 326 mm.

Heavy downpours and waterlogging have severely disrupted daily life across parts of the state. In Valsad, SDM Astha Solanki reported that around 120 mm of rainfall since last night led to rising water levels in Kashmir Nagar, prompting the evacuation of nearly 100 families.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Sunday, warning of “extremely heavy rainfall” in Gujarat. The IMD also issued red alerts for East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra, and the North-Eastern states of Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura. An orange alert has been issued for West Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Karnataka, and the North-Eastern states of Assam and Meghalaya.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely, with rescue operations underway and measures in place to prevent further damage and casualties.

Cyclone Remal: SDRF Reaches Imphal To Rescue People

Continuous heavy rain since Sunday due to cyclone Remal has led to extensive flooding in Manipur. Water levels in many rivers flowing through Imphal city are rising quickly, with two major rivers, Nambul and Imphal, already spilling over into various areas of Imphal’s East and West districts.

The initial instance of river flooding occurred in the Khurai region of Imphal East district, where the river surged beyond its banks. Collaboration between residents and the government mitigated the damage along the eastern bank of the Imphal River, and ongoing endeavors aim to control the river’s overflow on the western side in Khurai.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh conducted an inspection of the flooded Khurai area on Tuesday night. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with residents, are currently engaged in evacuating people from the affected regions, as directed by the state government.

7 people killed after bus crashes into ditch in Nainital

An official reported on Monday that a bus traveling from Haryana collided with a ditch in the Nainital district, killing at least seven people—five women, one man, and one child. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) official reported that additional rescue operations are in progress and that 28 people have so far been saved. According to them, the SDRF has recovered and given the civil police the bodies of the deceased.

According to the officials, the Disaster Control Room in Nainital notified SDRF on Sunday that a bus thought to be carrying 30 to 33 people had crashed into a ditch at Nalni on Kaladhungi Road.
On the above information, as per the instructions of Commandant SDRF Manikant Mishra, SDRF rescue teams from Post Rudrapur, Nainital, and Khairna immediately left for the spot for rescue.

Uttarakhand Landslide alert: SDRF commandant examines relief efforts in Jakhan village

Manikant Mishra, the commandant of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), on Thursday, examined the rescue and relief efforts in the village of Jakhan, which had been affected by a landslip on Wednesday.

The deployed personnel were given instructions by Commandant Mishra on how to carry out relief and rescue activities as soon as possible.

Earlier on Wednesday, landslides and subsidence in the Jakhan village near Dehradun caused up to 15 homes to fall and seven cowsheds to be entirely demolished.

50 people live in around 15 families in the village of Jakhan. The afflicted individuals and their essential possessions were moved by SDRF to a relief camp established in the Pachta village school.

Rescue operation underway after landslides hit Jakhan village near Dehradun

Uttarakhand has been receiving continuous heavy rainfall this year. Dehradun, Chamoli, Joshimath and many other places have been severely affected by these incessant rains.

As per an official statement, on Wednesday, a total of 15 houses collapsed and seven cowsheds were destroyed in subsidence and landslides at Jakhan village, part of Madrasu gram panchayat on Langha Road, 50 km from Dehradun.

As soon as senior officials of the administration and police, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), received word of these incidents, they reached the spot and shifted all the victims to a nearby government school at Pachta village.

Jakhan village is situated near Uttarakhand’s capital city, Dehradun and is home to about 15 families, comprising 50 people. However, the officials informed that no loss of life was reported in these incidents. According to the official statement, restrictions were imposed on the movement of locals in the village.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescue personnel were posted in the affected area and a rescue operation was underway till the filing of this report.

Earlier on Wednesday, in a related incident, a person died after a house collapsed near subsidence-hit Joshimath in Chamoli district. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the incident took place in Helang village on the Badrinath highway between Pipalkoti and Joshimath in the late evening of 15 August.

Uttarakhand : Heavy rainfall leads to rise in river water levels , SDRF teams on high alert

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been instructed to remain on high alert as a result of the nine days of nonstop rainfall in Uttarakhand’s plain and hilly regions, which has caused an increase in river water levels.

As per SDRF officials, nine days of constant rain in Uttarakhand’s hilly and plain regions caused the rivers’ water levels to rise, subsequently, the SDRF personnel have been instructed to maintain a high degree of alertness. “River Ganga is once again in spate as a result of constant rain that has been falling in the plains and hills of all of Uttarakhand for the past nine days, increasing the risk of flooding in the nearby areas. With the unexpected increase in the water level of river Ganga, there is a danger of flood in the coastal areas of Mayakund, Chandrabhaga, Chandreshwarnagar etc,” said officials.

SDRF Commandant, Manikant Mishra, instructed various SDRF teams to be on high alert amid these circumstances. In view of the possible danger posed by the rising water level of the river Ganga, SDRF officers and jawans have been asked to be on constant alert.
Due to heavy rains in the mountains, the tributaries of Alaknanda and Ganga are in a spate. The Emergency Operation Center has alerted 4 districts on the possibility of the rising water level of the Alaknanda River to avoid any untoward incident, they said.
Officials further said that SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra himself is closely monitoring the situation by being in constant touch with the SDRF teams and also directing the SDRF control room for a quick exchange of information.
SDRF personnel are fully equipped with rescue equipment at sensitive places to deal with the threat of flood. SDRF jawans are continuously monitoring the coastal areas of Ganga, added officials.

Earlier, Uttarakhand SDRF continuously worked in the Haridwar district for the rescue of people stranded in submerged houses in flooded areas of Haridwar and rescued a pregnant woman and a small girl from Laksar town in Uttarakhand.
In Laksar of Haridwar district, SDRF reached the spot after receiving information about the health of a small girl in a house submerged due to waterlogging and rescued the girl and took her to the hospital.
As per information, SDRF Uttarakhand Police immediately reached the spot on the information of a pregnant woman having labour pain in a house submerged due to waterlogging in Laksar police station, Adarsh Nagar of district Haridwar. The pregnant woman was brought to a safe place by raft with full caution.

A spokesperson for the SDRF claimed that the house was the only one for several kilometers and that the two elderly couples living there were in great distress. The SDRF woke them up, and they were then rescued and transported via rafts to safety. In addition to this, additional trapped individuals were also rescued and transported via rafts to a safe location. In the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand’s Laksar town, the threat of flooding has increased due to persistent rainfall and a breach in the Sonali River dam. The Sonali River dam reportedly broke near the village of Kuan Kheda, according to officials.

Uttarakhand flood: SDRF safely rescues pregnant woman

The Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force which has been working tirelessly in the Haridwar district to rescue people stranded in submerged houses in Haridwar’s flooded districts, has rescued a pregnant mother and a small daughter from Laksar town in Uttarakhand.

After getting information regarding the health of a small girl in a house inundated owing to waterlogging in Laksar, Haridwar district, SDRF arrived on the scene and rescued the girl before transporting her to the hospital.

According to the reports, SDRF Uttarakhand Police responded quickly to a pregnant woman experiencing labor pains at a house swamped owing to waterlogging in Laksar police station, Adarsh Nagar, district Haridwar.

The pregnant mother was transported to a safe location by raft with extreme caution. She was then transported to the hospital by ambulance.

SDRF Uttarakhand Police arrived at the residence after traveling around five kilometers by raft on reports that several persons were stranded in a wet house in Girdhawali Kalsia hamlet, Khanpur region, district Haridwar.

According to the SDRF spokesperson, there were no other residences nearby for several kilometers, and two elderly couples within the house were in great discomfort. The SDRF woke them up and rescued and transported them to safety on rafts.
Aside from that, other people who were trapped there were rescued and transported to safety via rafts.

Flooding has been predicted in the Laksar town in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district due to prolonged rainfall and a breakdown in the Sonali River dam. The Sonali River dam broke near the village of Kuan Kheda, according to officials.

Cracks in Joshimath widened after snowfall

After heavy snowfall in Uttarakhand cracks in buildings have widened in the area of Joshmath which is facing land subsidence, said Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana.

Meanwhile, the teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police are on alert in the area.

“Due to heavy snowfall in Joshimath, reports have been received that in a few areas cracks in buildings have widened. Our team is working to provide all the necessary facilities like heaters, hot water, and others,” Himanshu Khurana said.

Moreover, to monitor electricity problems in the relief camps an executive-level engineer is present.

“An executive-level engineer is present in the camp to monitor electricity problems in the relief camps,” said Himanshu Khurana.

Secretary of Disaster Management, Ranjit Kumar Sinha on 20 January briefed about the rehabilitation and relief work being done in Joshimath.

Sinha further stated, “There are 18 pregnant women in the municipal area of Joshimath, who are not currently in relief camps. These pregnant women are living in their own homes.”

“Health tests of these women are being done continuously,” Sinha said.

However, children below 10 years of age that are 81 in number are also being examined.

CM Chouhan expresses condolences over 8-year-old’s death in borewell

After four days of rescue efforts an eight-year-old, who fell into a borewell in a Madhya Pradesh village of Betul district died on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a compensation of Rs 4 lakh has been offered by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who also expressed his condolences.

Taking to Twitter CM Chouhan said, “It is very sad that little Tanmay (Sahu), who fell in a borewell in Betul’s Mandvi village, could not be saved even after tireless efforts by the administration. I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this loss, Om Shanti.”

Moreover, the ex-gratia has been announced for the kin of the deceased. “Tanmay’s family should not consider themselves alone in this hour of grief, I and the entire Madhya Pradesh are with the family. Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be given to the victim’s family by the state government. May God give the departed soul a place at his holy feet. Humble tribute!,” Chouhan said.

However, over the four days State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local police personnel were on the job to rescue the child. After rescuing at Betul District Hospital Tanmay’s body was taken by ambulance.

Furthermore, immediate results were demanded by the boy’s family and the mother of Tanmay’s Jyoti Sahu”Give me my child, whatever it may be. Would it have taken so much time even if it was a child of a leader or an officer? So much time has passed, and they are not saying anything. Not even allowing me to see.”

“My 12-year-old daughter saw him falling into the borewell and informed me about the incident. We immediately rushed to the spot. He was breathing and we listened to his voice as we enquired. The rescue operation was started from 6 pm onwards on December 6,” Tanmay’s father Sunil Sahu said.

Henceforth, Geeta Mankar Tanmay’s teacher said, “Tanmay is a student of Class 3. The children of his school, including teachers, chanted Gayatri Mantra for his safety. The teachers and students have prayed to God that Tanmay comes out safely from the borewell. Tanmay is an intelligent student. His safety will be the victory of all of us.”

An eight-year-old Tanmay Sahu who fell into a 55-feet-deep borewell in Mandavi village in the Betul district of Madhya Pradesh died.

Earlier on December 6, Sahu was pulled out from the 55-feet-deep borewell following a rescue operation.

While playing on the farm around 5 pm on Tuesday 8-year-old Tanmay Sahu fell into the borewell and within the next hour, the rescue operation started.

Meanwhile, over the four days State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local police personnel were on the job to rescue the child.

After rescuing at Betul District Hospital Tanmay’s body was taken by ambulance.
