Find out who leads the pack!
</excerpt>

As per a market intelligence agency, Anderson, the Highest-Paid CEO who took over the reins of the Pennsylvania-based company in June 2024, bested famous personalities such as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang ($34.17 million), Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella ($79.1 million), Apple CEO Tim Cook ($74.6 million), Disney CEO Bob Iger ($40.6 million), and Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan ($95.8 million).

According to the Equilar 100 list, which tracks CEO compensation for US public companies with revenues of more than $1 billion annually, Anderson was the only executive on the list to break the prized nine-digit mark.

Far more surprising is the fact that lucrative perks and an extremely high earnings level were not the motivating drivers for this incredible compensation. Stock awards were bestowed on nearly every dollar of Anderson’s compensation (99.4%), which represents proof of increasing practice of associating executive reward with long-term shareholder value as well as company performance.

Who is Jim Anderson? CEO of Coherent Since 2024

Anderson’s rise to the top is not an accident. He came into Coherent Corp. in mid-2024 after he left his CEO position at Lattice Semiconductor, where his leadership had a major bearing on the company’s stock performance.

Lattice’s shares dropped 16 percent following his departure from the company, reflecting investors’ fear. Wall Street, however, thought differently, as the company’s stock went up by a record 23% when the news of Anderson’s move was announced to Coherent. The rise suggests that Wall Street believes Anderson will be able to do the same at Coherent that he did at Lattice.

Did Sundar Pichai, Brian Niccol Steal any Spot at Highest-Paid CEOs list?

Interestingly, Google CEO Sundar Pichai is not included in the top 100. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, reported Pichai’s 2024 compensation in its 2025 Proxy Statement.

Pichai’s overall compensation for 2024 is $10.72 million, a significant decline from his $226 million earnings in 2022. This is largely due to the fact that Pichai did not receive the triennial stock award in the previous reporting period.

With a total of $95.8 million payment in 2024, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol was placed second on the list of the highest-paid CEOs. Like Anderson, Niccol earned over 90% of his compensation as stock-based incentives. Since becoming the CEO in September 2024, Niccol demonstrated that he is able to boost the value of the company.

The protest, revealed through an AP investigation, has sparked debates over Microsoft’s ethical responsibilities in wartime technology.
</excerpt>

Microsoft recently expelled five workers from a live company meeting over their objection to the company’s agreement with the Israeli military, according an Associated Press repor. The event has sparked a discussion on free speech, corporate ethics, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in military missions.

While at Microsoft’s Washington headquarters for a meeting with CEO Satya Nadella, a small number of staff members protested against the Israeli military use of Microsoft’s AI and cloud computing systems. The staff wore T-shirts asking “Does our code kills kids, Satya?” that read together.

The Israeli army has reportedly been leveraging Microsoft’s AI models, created in partnership with OpenAI, to find bombing targets in Gaza and Lebanon. Research shows that these AI-enabled assaults have caused civilian deaths, including a 2023 airstrike killing four Lebanese citizens—three of them were kids.

Though Microsoft insists that it follows hard ethical standards in AI implementation, it has not confirmed or denied the exact uses of its intellectual intelligence.

Microsoft’s Reaction on the Protest

Photos and videos from the event evidence Nadella ignoring the demonstration and carrying on with his speech. Security staff quickly escorted the workers out of the room. Microsoft staff across the world could see the removal since the event was broadcast live.

Microsoft stated its will to enable staff to voice concerns but said such remarks should not interfere with business operations. The statement read, “When protests interfere with the flow of a corporate meeting, we ask members to carry on elsewhere.”

History of Microsoft Staff Dissatisfaction

Microsoft has not previously been known to oppose staff protesters of its agreements with the Israeli military. Two employees of the company dismissed for setting an unsanctioned vigil for Palestinian refugees at its corporate headquarters were sent packing in October 2023. Though Microsoft did not reveal particular information, they used internal policies to support the dismissals.

Particularly the cloud computing therefore provided via the Azure platform, a Microsoft staff has been vigorously against the Israeli military relationship for months. Employees who oppose the agreements sometimes maintain that they run counter to the declared human rights policies of Microsoft, whereas others inside the company back them.

Use of AI in Military Campaigns Raises Ethical Issues

According to a study by Associated Press, Israel’s utilization of Microsoft’s AI technologies grew almost 200 times after Hamas’ assault on October 7, 2023. This has brought up questions regarding if Microsoft is breaking its AI ethics guidelines by helping military activities.

After the October vigil, Abdo Mohamed, a former Microsoft researcher and data analyst let go, slammed the business for putting profits above human rights. Now part of the activist group “No Azure for Apartheid,” Mohamed has urged Microsoft leaders to cut their link with the Israeli military.

Corporate Ethics and Free Speech

The ongoing argument regarding corporate accountability and employee activism has been agitated by the protest and following removals. Although some staff members think Microsoft has top reconsideration of its AI agreements, others contend businesses should not be forced into political controversies. Microsoft is embroiled in a heated worldwide debate as questions about the ethical use of AI get more attention.

</excerpt>

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has recently highlighted the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in India’s farming industry. In a tweet on X, Nadella explained how AI has immensely benefited the livelihoods of rural sugarcane growers, a majority of whom had been facing debt and severe agricultural conditions due to pests, droughts, and diseases.

Satya Nadella presented a video on X, with a farmer from Battis Shirala, Maharashtra, who used AI to improve yields, reduce the use of chemicals, and save water. Narrating the role of AI in agriculture, he labeled its contribution “phenomenal.”

AI Improving Productivity for Small Farmers

Citing a particular instance, Nadella spoke of a farmer from the Baramati Co-op, who had implemented AI with traditional farming practices. “The one story that I was trying to point out was that of one of the small farmers who belonged to the Baramati Co-op, where you can take this powerful technology but make it make a difference, where a small farmer is able to increase the yield of his land. And the statistics that they presented in terms of chemicals reduced, water usage improved and, finally, yield was unbelievable,” Nadella stated.

Additionally, he noted the role of geospatial data from drones and satellites, which assist farmers in understanding and improving their cultivation techniques in their native languages.

AI will improve everything https://t.co/KqBvDC9ljl

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 24, 2025

Elon Musk Reacts to AI’s Role in Farming

Reacting to the video shared by Nadella, tech billionaire Elon Musk expressed his optimism about AI’s potential, writing, “AI will improve everything.”

In 2022, Microsoft introduced an agri-tech initiative in Baramati in association with the Agricultural Development Trust (ADT). The project incorporates AI-based solutions to empower farmers to attain sustainable and high-yielding crops. Additionally, Microsoft Research has been actively engaged in integrating AI, satellite images, and other sophisticated technologies to revolutionize agriculture practices.

Nadella Looks Back on Microsoft’s Blunder

Earlier, Nadella confessed that Microsoft had made one of its biggest blunders by not expecting the dominance of search engines—a space Google seized with success. He conceded that Microsoft had made an incorrect expectation about the web being decentralized, unable to predict the staggering business possibilities of search.

“We (Microsoft) lost what proved to be the largest business model on the web because we all made the assumption the web is all about being distributed,” Nadella said, terming it as a lesson.

Fatherhood of Sam Altman

Celebrating parenthood for the first time, Altman expressed some positive emotions about his son coming. His words reflect joyous parenthood against the backdrop of the challenges of premature birth. Within moments, the post became popular and gained traction around the world, with well-wishers from all quarters pouring in their support.

Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are hospital units meant for newborns requiring critical medical attention. They are staffed by expert medical professionals equipped with advanced technology and provide 24/7 care to premature and at-risk babies, ensuring they receive the best possible treatment and monitoring.

Altman’s announcement paints a personal touch to his public image, with glimpses into his life apart from the macho world of AI and innovation. His message is one of inspiration, full of love and hope, underlining the struggle of parenthood in unanticipated circumstances.

</excerpt>

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that a recent update released by the American cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike caused a significant global IT outage. This incident, which began on Thursday evening and continued into Friday, affected various industries, including airlines, banks, and TV channels. The issue stemmed from a defective update on CrowdStrike’s Falcon Sensor, a security solution for Windows systems.

Nadella stated that Microsoft is collaborating closely with CrowdStrike and industry partners to provide technical guidance and support to affected customers. CrowdStrike’s CEO George Kurtz confirmed the problem had been identified, isolated, and a fix deployed.

The bug did not impact Mac or Linux systems but caused widespread disruptions for Windows users. Major US airlines such as Delta, United, and American Airlines experienced communication issues, resulting in grounded flights. Air France also reported IT disruptions, though operations at Paris airports continued.

In India, the outage led to significant delays and cancellations in airline services. IndiGo, one of the affected airlines, cancelled around 200 flights, and manual processes for bookings, check-ins, and boarding caused long delays. Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu assured passengers that efforts are being made to manage the situation and minimize disruptions.

While Indian financial and payment systems were largely unaffected, minor disruptions occurred in around 10 banks and NBFCs, which have mostly been resolved, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

This strategic pivot towards cloud services has been pivotal in reshaping Microsoft’s business model and enhancing its competitiveness in the technology sector.

One of Nadella’s pivotal decisions was the swift approval of the $7.5 billion acquisition of GitHub, a leading platform for global developer collaboration. This move, finalized during an executive retreat at the Suncadia Resort in the Cascade Mountains, underscored Nadella’s commitment to integrating open-source technologies into Microsoft’s ecosystem.
Nikesh Arora, CEO and chairman of Palo Alto Networks, is ranked as the 10th highest-paid CEO in the United States, according to a recent report by C-Suite Comp, a data analytics firm. They released their findings on Monday.

Two lists of the highest-paid CEOs were released, one based on the “total compensation granted” in 2023 and the other on the “compensation actually paid.”

Neither Sundar Pichai, the Indian-American CEO of Google, nor Satya Nadella, his counterpart at Microsoft, made it onto either list, despite their companies’ strong performance, including advancements with OpenAI.

On the other hand, Nikesh Arora of Palo Alto Networks made it onto both lists. He ranked fourth on the list of “Highest Earning CEOs in the US by Total Compensation Granted in 2023,” with earnings totaling $151.4 million. Additionally, Arora rounded out the top ten of “Highest Earning CEOs in the US by Compensation Actually Paid in 2023,” receiving an annual compensation of $266.4 million.

At the top of the list was Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who earned an impressive $1.4 billion in 2023. Alexander Karp of Palantir Technologies was the only other CEO to surpass the $1 billion mark.

</excerpt>

While the spotlight often shines on the numerous Indian-origin executives in Silicon Valley, only one Indian-American has secured a spot among the top 10 highest paid CEO in the United States. Surprisingly, it’s not the well-known Sundar Pichai of Google or Satya Nadella of Microsoft. Instead, it’s Nikesh Arora, the CEO and chairman of Palo Alto Networks, who has made the prestigious list, according to a recent report by data analytics firm C-Suite Comp.

C-Suite Comp’s report, released on Monday, details the highest paid CEO in the US based on two distinct metrics: “total compensation granted” in 2023 and “compensation actually paid.”

Nikesh Arora stands out by appearing on both lists. He ranked fourth in “Total Compensation Granted” with earnings of $151.4 million in 2023. Additionally, he secured the tenth spot on the “Compensation Actually Paid” list, with an impressive $266.4 million in annual compensation. This dual recognition highlights his significant financial rewards as the head of Palo Alto Networks.

Interestingly, neither Sundar Pichai nor Satya Nadella made it to either list, despite Google’s and Microsoft’s notable achievements, including Microsoft’s successful year with OpenAI.

Topping the list of highest-paid CEOs by compensation actually paid is Elon Musk of Tesla, who earned a staggering $1.4 billion in 2023. He is followed by Alexander Karp of Palantir Technologies, the only other executive to surpass the $1 billion mark. The top 10 includes:

Elon Musk, Tesla: $1.4 billion

Alexander Karp, Palantir Technologies: $1.1 billion

Safra Catz, Oracle: $304.1 million

Brian Chesky, Airbnb: $303.5 million

Jon Winkelried, TPG: $295.1 million

Jeff Green, Trade Desk: $291.7 million

Adam Foroughi, AppLovin: $271.3 million

Nikesh Arora, Palo Alto Networks: $266.4 million

Who Is Nikesh Arora?

Nikesh Arora took the helm at Palo Alto Networks in 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience from previous high-profile positions at Google and SoftBank Group. Born to an Indian Air Force officer, Arora’s early education was at Air Force Public School in Delhi. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Technology at Banaras Hindu University (now IIT-BHU), followed by an MBA from Northeastern University and an MSc from Boston College.

Arora’s career includes a decade at Google, where he held senior leadership roles. In 2014, he left Google to join SoftBank Group as its President and Chief Operating Officer.
