Ryan Reynolds Approaches Disney with R-Rated Star Wars Idea

May 25, 2025, 12:50 am

Ryan Reynolds is interested in whether or not an R-rated Star Wars venture can be profitable. The actor from Deadpool & Wolverine, itself an R-rated film that became a big box office hit, expressed his opinion while appearing on a new installment of The Box Office podcast. He did not express much enthusiasm in acting in such a venture if made but will certainly be willing to produce it.

Proposal for an R-Rated Star Wars Project

Ryan said, “I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated Star Wars property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters. There’s a wide range of characters you could use.’ And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don’t want to just gamble on something like that.”

He went on to add, “I’m not saying I want to be in it. That would be a bad fit. I’d want to produce and write or be a part of behind the scenes. Those kinds of IP subsist really well on scarcity and surprise. We don’t get scarcity really with ‘Star Wars’ because of Disney+, but you can certainly still surprise people.”

Recent Film of Ryan Reynolds: Deadpool & Wolverine

The last film of Ryan was Deadpool & Wolverine, which was released in July 2024. Deadpool & Wolverine united Marvel’s best superheroes, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The film was directed by Shawn Levy. With the film, Hugh emerged from his permanent retirement of Wolverine.

For the Star Wars enthusiasts, the next in pipeline is The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie, which is directed by Jon Favreau and co-penned by Favreau and Dave Filoni, features Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian. It is set to be released next year in May.

Ryan Reynolds Seeks Name Removal from Baldoni’s Lawsuit Over ‘Hurt Feelings’

March 19, 2025, 5:42 pm

Blake Lively sued her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, for sexual harassment. In turn, Baldoni sued Lively and her actor husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation, alleging that Reynolds accused him of being a “sexual predator” and used his fame to get the WME agency to drop him. Reynolds, however, has motioned to dismiss the suit.

In the motion, Reynolds’ attorney argued that Baldoni’s ‘hurt feelings’ are not sufficient grounds for a defamation suit. Baldoni, who believes that the character Nicepool in Deadpool & Wolverine was a critique of his ‘woke feminist’ persona, has been at the center of the dispute. Reynolds did not deny the speculation but called Baldoni’s legal actions ‘thin-skinned outrage’.

Regarding the term ‘predator’, the motion suggests that Reynolds’ comments reflected his “unabashed negative opinion” of Baldoni’s character rather than defamation. The attorney pointed out that Reynolds, as a husband, was entitled to express his belief that Baldoni’s behavior was predatory.

Reynolds’ legal team further argued that he has a First Amendment right to criticize Baldoni, particularly in defense of his wife. They dismissed Baldoni’s defamation suit as nothing more than a ‘burn book filled with grievances’. The motion also argued it would be unreasonable for Baldoni, who has built a public brand around his alleged mistreatment of women, to sue Reynolds for simply voicing his concerns based on what Baldoni himself has publicly boasted about.

Ryan Reynolds Jokes About Justin Baldoni Feud at SNL 50, Blake Lively Shocked

February 17, 2025, 12:00 pm

Ryan Reynolds never seizes an opportunity to tell a joke. At the 50th-anniversary party for Saturday Night Live on Sunday, he and wife Blake Lively made their first public appearance together in some time, while Lively has been engaged in her legal battle against her co-star in It Ends With Us, Justin Baldoni. While they were at the event, it seemed like Reynolds made a wisecrack related to the drama, which surprised Blake in broad daylight.

Ryan’s Joke at SNL 50

As they hosted the event, SNL veterans Tina Fey and Amy Poehler directed their focus to the couple in the crowd. “Ryan! How are you?” they asked. Reynolds replied with his characteristic wit, saying, “Great! Why what have you heard.” Whereas Lively had been smiling beforehand, she glanced up at him in shock, as if caught off guard by his comment.

Fans were quick to respond to the couple’s attendance at the event and Reynolds’ quip. “Ryan and Blake are totally amazing,” one user tweeted. Another posted, “Reynolds always has the best one-liners.” A third quipped, “I bet even he double-checked Blake’s following list after that one.”

Blake-Baldoni Feud

Lively has charged Baldoni with sexual harassment and alleges he mounted a smear campaign against her. These charges were part of a complaint filed with the California Civil Rights Department, which subsequently became a lawsuit.

Baldoni has denied all of the allegations and, in retaliation, sued The New York Times for defamation in its reporting about the case. He also sued Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist, filing a $400 million lawsuit on January 16.

His lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said that the long legal fight has been emotionally and financially exhausting for Baldoni. At a pre-trial hearing, Freedman pointed out that his client has been “devastated” by the process.

Additionally, Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, and others involved in the It Ends With Us production have also been drawn into the dispute. In an attempt to defend himself, Baldoni released raw footage from the film’s set and launched a website sharing text messages between himself and Lively.

However, Freedman argues that once such allegations are made public, they are often perceived as facts, making them difficult to refute.

The case between Lively and Baldoni is scheduled for May 2026.

Ryan Reynolds ‘Thrilled’ After 2025 Critics Choice Awards Win

February 9, 2025, 9:34 pm

Actor and film producer Ryan Reynolds is “thrilled” about his win at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, People reported.

However, he was not present at the ceremony, which was hosted by Chelsea Handler at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, were notably absent from the Critics Choice Awards on Friday.

In December, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, 41, accusing him of sexual harassment during the production of It Ends With Us, according to People. She also sued Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, over an alleged retaliatory public smear campaign.

Baldoni, however, denied the allegations and filed a counter lawsuit of USD 400 million against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion, as per the outlet.

Reynolds is standing by his wife during this time. A source told People, “She and Ryan are in it together. They are always a tremendous team. They will get through this as a team too.”

Blake Lively And Ryan Reynolds Skip Golden Globes Amid Legal Battle

January 4, 2025, 1:00 pm

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are said to be missing the upcoming Golden Globes, although Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine is nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The reason behind this is that Lively is involved in a legal battle with former It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

On December 20, Lively sued Justin Baldoni for allegedly sexually harassing her and fostering a hostile work environment on the set. She alleges that Baldoni showed her indecent content, broke into her trailer while she was nude, and engaged in improvised physical contact during a scene without getting her permission. Baldoni has flatly refuted the accusations.

In her first lawsuit, Lively also accused Baldoni, publicist Jennifer Abel, and crisis PR consultant Melissa Nathan of orchestrating a campaign to harm her reputation. Abel dismissed the claims, and Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, labelled them false and inflammatory. On New Year’s Eve, Lively filed a second federal lawsuit in New York, seeking damages for emotional distress, lost wages, and retaliation. Her legal team alleges ongoing violations of federal and state laws, including intensified attacks against her since she came forward with her allegations.

The legal battle has been marked by conflicting accounts, including a January 4 incident at Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ New York penthouse. According to Baldoni, Reynolds yelled at him, while Lively said that they had actually discussed the fact that he had misbehaved. Freedman promised to make public the text messages where he said Lively had asked Baldoni to go to her trailer to “pump” as she was expressing her breast milk. Freedman argues this undermines her harassment allegations, but Lively maintains her accusations.

The fallout has severely affected the career of Baldoni. His agency, William Morris Endeavor, cut ties with him and his podcast co-host, Liz Plank resigned. In the midst of this fall-out, Lively has received more support from It Ends With Us starring Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and the author herself Colleen Hoover. Escalating her legal dispute will only create debates about the dynamics in the workplace and who is accountable for the mess- in the Hollywood arena.

Did You Catch Tom Holland’s Brother In Deadpool & Wolverine? Even Ryan Reynolds Missed It

July 30, 2024, 4:35 pm

After retiring his Superman role, fans were stunned to see Henry Cavill play a Wolverine variant in Shawn Levy’s Marvel buddy movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. But did you know who portrayed a Deadpool variant in the film? While the Blake Lively-Lady Deadpool debate continues, we’re talking about another actor who would have remained unnoticed among the army of Deadpools because of his mask.

It was Harry Holland, the younger brother of Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stunt coordinator George Cottle revealed this on Instagram Stories, sharing a picture of Harry in a Deadpool costume from the set. He wrote, “When Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds set the bar so f’ing high, even the stunt team needed a special guest star. It may not be the Holland the world wanted, but it was the Holland we all needed!! You smashed it my friend.” He also included the hashtag ‘Haroldpool.’

Even Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool himself, was surprised by the revelation. He reposted George’s story and commented, “This is how I find out?!? You tell me?” Harry Holland had previously appeared as a bicycle thief in Jon Watts’ 2021 Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home, starring his brother in the lead role. Though his cameo was cut from the original release, it was included in the extended version, Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version.

Deadpool & Wolverine, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their roles as the wisecracking superhero and X-Men mutant, respectively, is the third installment in the Deadpool franchise. The film also earned ₹66 crore over the weekend at the Indian box office but experienced a significant drop in collections on Monday.

Taylor Swift’s Role In ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’: Here’s What Ryan Reynolds Has To Say

July 23, 2024, 2:59 pm

Ryan Reynolds has definitively put an end to speculation about Taylor Swift’s potential cameo in the highly anticipated Marvel Studios film, Deadpool and Wolverine. Speaking to E! News, Reynolds confirmed that Swift will not appear in the movie, despite persistent rumors fueled by her close friendship with the actor.

“I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor, because she’s our friend—that is not in this film,” Reynolds stated, aiming to quell the ongoing speculation among Swift’s fanbase, known as Swifties.

Although Swift’s involvement has been ruled out, Reynolds didn’t miss the chance to praise her talents. He jokingly suggested that if he were to ever step down from the role of Deadpool, Swift could be an excellent replacement. “I always do say that if anyone ever were to take over the role of Deadpool, actually Taylor would be very good,” Reynolds remarked, acknowledging her comedic skills. “She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”

The rumors about Swift’s potential cameo intensified after Reynolds shared a teaser for Deadpool and Wolverine that bore resemblance to Swift’s Evermore album cover. Further fueling speculation, Swift’s All Too Well music video was filmed at Reynolds’ and Blake Lively’s home, and Reynolds appeared in Swift’s You Need to Calm Down music video.

Despite these connections, Deadline recently confirmed that Swift will not be featured in the film. Director Shawn Levy also weighed in, noting that while Deadpool and Wolverine includes numerous cameos, none are designed to overshadow the film’s central narrative. “We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the story of the movie,” Levy said. “But they are peppered in throughout. There’s a lot of characters.”

The buzz surrounding potential cameos continues to stir excitement among fans as the film’s release approaches, with some rumors proving accurate while others have missed the mark.

Deadpool & Wolverine: What Are The Reveals In The Final Trailer

July 20, 2024, 8:33 pm

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are gearing up for the highly anticipated third installment of the Deadpool franchise, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ set to hit the screens. The release of the final trailer for this superhero action-thriller has revealed numerous references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), hinting at connections with the X-Men and Avengers. Here’s a preview of what to expect from this upcoming MCU action-saga.

Sabretooth vs Wolverine

Tyler Wane returns as Sabertooth from X-Men in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The trailer reveals an intense showdown between the two old adversaries. Sabertooth, a psychopathic mutant with heightened senses, razor-sharp claws, superhuman strength and reflexes, and regenerative healing powers, previously battled Wolverine while trying to transform humans into mutants.

Logan’s daughter comes back

Dafne Keen returns as Laura/X-23, Wolverine’s daughter, from “Logan.” In the new film, Laura engages in a profound conversation with Logan (Hugh Jackman), where she helps him understand his own value. In one of the scenes Logan says, “You have got the wrong guy.” Laura replies, “You were always the wrong guy till you weren’t.” The action-thriller is set to feature emotional scenes of Wolverine confronting his past struggles while also exploring his relationship with his biological daughter.

Spider-Man vs Deadpool

In the MCU comics, Spider-Man and Deadpool are often depicted as rivals, with Spider-Man adhering to his traditional superhero code while Deadpool follows his own unconventional methods. Despite their frequent clashes, they ultimately join forces to combat a shared adversary. In one scene, Deadpool humorously mimics Spider-Man’s web-shooting abilities, suggesting a possible future showdown between the two Marvel heroes.

Logan fights Charles Xavier’s twin sister

Emma Corrin plays Cassandra Nova, the twin sister of Charles Xavier. Cassandra, a mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities, attempts to manipulate Wolverine’s mind. Unlike Charles, who aims to foster harmony between mutants and humans, Cassandra serves as the antagonist against Logan and Deadpool.

Deadpool’s emotional arc

The trailer highlights Deadpool’s deep connection with his family, emphasizing his willingness to go to great lengths to protect them. In one scene, he convinces Wolverine to assist him in saving nine individuals who are crucial to him, as he cannot manage it on his own. Additionally, the trailer reflects Deadpool’s respect for Logan and the X-Men.

Lady Deadpool

The trailer also offers a brief look at Lady Deadpool, with both Logan and Deadpool appearing surprised upon seeing this new character. It remains uncertain whether she will be an adversary or an ally to the protagonists.

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is set to be released worldwide on July 16.

Ryan Reynolds Teases Fourth Child’s Name, Credits Taylor Swift’s Lyrics

May 14, 2024, 1:55 am

Actor Ryan Reynolds, known for his wit both on and off the screen, left fans intrigued during his appearance on the Today Show on Monday. The spotlight turned to Reynolds and Blake Lively’s fourth child, whose name is still shrouded in secrecy.

During the interview, shared on YouTube, hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb prodded Reynolds about the elusive name. Guthrie playfully referenced Taylor Swift’s habit of incorporating the names of Reynolds and Lively’s children into her music, particularly in her song ‘Betty’ from the album ‘Folklore.’

Responding to Guthrie’s query about whether Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ might reveal the fourth baby’s name, Reynolds quipped, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.”

The couple’s decision to keep their children’s names a secret until the completion of Swift’s track ‘Betty’ was revealed by Reynolds in a previous interview. He emphasized their strategy of offering “no access to outside information” to maintain compliance from their children.

While details about their youngest child remain under wraps, Reynolds hinted at the arrival of their fourth baby during a social media announcement for his new series, “Bedtime Stories with Ryan,” last June.

Throughout their journey of parenthood, Reynolds and Lively have maintained a level of privacy, choosing not to disclose the sex of their children until birth.

As Reynolds gears up for the release of his latest film, ‘IF,’ set to hit theatres on Friday, May 17, the mystery surrounding the fourth baby’s name continues to capture fans’ curiosity worldwide. With Reynolds’ humorous deflection and playful nods to Swift’s music, the guessing game will likely persist until the couple reveals.

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is scheduled to release on July 26, 2024. Directed by Shawn Levy; co-writers include Reynolds, Zeb Wells, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Levy.

Levy stated that the upcoming Marvel movie starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine won’t be called Deadpool 3.

As reported by Deadline, Levy told Screen Rant during CinemaCon, “As far as crafting the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles. It also gave me an opportunity. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3. It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool and Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”

The ‘Deadpool’ movies have been enormously successful commercially, making them the highest-earning ‘X-Men’ films ever, with over USD 780 million in box office receipts worldwide.
