In a recent update, victory bus parade of RCB after winning the IPL 2025 trophy, due to a public advisory by the Bengaluru Traffic Police, a felicitation event will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium today. The bus parade has reportedly been cancelled due to traffic safety and logistical concerns from the city traffic police department.

This news has sparked massive disappointment among fans all over the city, who were preparing a grand celebration of their first IPL trophy after 18 years. The felicitation event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is scheduled for 5 PM, however, the entry has been restricted to fans with valid passes to attend the event.

Police Advisory To Prevent Heavy Traffic

The city police have also advised the public to avoid the Central Business District (CBD) area from 3 PM to 8 PM to avoid heavy traffic on roads and congestion. They have also encouraged the fans to use public transport to reach the stadium because of limited parking around the area.

“Due to felicitation function for RCB team at chinnaswamy stadium from 5PM to 6PM public are advised to avoid roads sorrounding vidhnasoudha and chinnaswamy stadium from 3PM to 8PM. Karnataka CM To Attend Event

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is also set to attend the felicitation event organised by the State government to officially honour the RCB players by the Karnataka government on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha.

“There is a program today at 4 PM in Vidhana Soudha. I, along with the Governor and ministers, will participate in the program,” he said.

Heavy security has also been deployed outside the Bengaluru Airport, as a large mass of RCB fans have gathered to welcome the winning Challengers team bringing home the IPL trophy.

RCB vs Uber: A Controversial Ad Featuring Travis Head Sparks Legal Battle

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has sued Uber in the Delhi High Court over a contentious ad. The ad includes cricketer Travis Head, who is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) now but was with RCB during the 2016-2017 season. The contention arises out of Uber’s adoption of RCB’s well-known slogan “Ee Sala Cup Namde” (This year, the cup is ours) without a license.

Why is RCB Angry?

RCB contends that Uber misused their famous slogan and name without permission in the ad named ‘Baddies in Bengaluru.’ The ad features Travis Head, also known as ‘Hyderabaddie,’ entering a stadium in disguise with someone else and spray-painting a lighthearted message that reads, “Royally Challenged Bengaluru vs Hyderabad” rather than the conventional “Bengaluru vs Hyderabad.”

The players are dissatisfied with the manner the ad uses their name and tagline. They argue that Uber’s video, which has exceeded 1.3 million hits on YouTube, is injurious to RCB’s brand and insulting to their trademark.

Uber’s Defense

Uber, however, feels that the lawsuit is frivolous and asserts that the ad was intended to be humorous. Their attorneys contend that the video mocks Bengaluru’s infamous traffic and showcases Uber Moto as a quicker mode of transportation. Uber also asserts that they didn’t utilize RCB’s trademark directly but devised a light-hearted context to display SRH’s potential threat to RCB in their next match.

“RCB has severely underestimated the Indian public’s sense of humour,” Uber’s attorney said, calling the lawsuit “preposterous” and asserting the ad was a benign effort at creativity.

Legal Case of RCB

Conversely, RCB’s lawyers do not concur, emphasizing that the essence of the matter is Uber’s exploitation of another’s brand without permission. They contend that using a variant of RCB’s trademark was a way for Uber to promote its service at the expense of the team’s hard-gained reputation and reap profits from it.

The Delhi High Court has listened to arguments from both sides but has not yet given a final judgment. It is to be seen whether the court will decide in favor of RCB or whether the company will have to accept the light-hearted ad as part of the advertising scene in today’s times.

As the new season of Indian Premier League begins, it brings a lot of twists and turns in the game with a lot of ups and downs but most importantly it brings unity amongst everyone who loves cricket.

This year’s IPL inaugural took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 22^nd March 2024. The opening ceremony started with the sensational performances by Sonu Nigam, AR Rahman, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Mohit Chauhan.

The first match was between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore where RCB won the toss and chose to bat first.

The opening pair for RCB was Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. CSK got an early breakthrough as Mustafizur Rahman picked 2 wickets in the 5^th over of Faf du Plessis who got out after scoring 35 and Rajat Patidar who got out on a duck.

By the end of the powerplay RCB scored 42 runs and lost 3 wickets. Whilst the match, Virat Kohli became the first India batsman to score 12000 runs in the T20 format.

After losing early wickets to CSK, Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik contributed crucial runs for the team. Anuj Rawat scored 48 runs and got run out on the last ball of the innings. Anuj’s and Dinesh’s partnership help RCB score 173 runs by the end of the innings and RCB lost 6 wickets in the first innings of the match and gave the target of 174 runs to CSK.

Mustafizur Rahman took 4 wickets in his 4 overs with the economy of 7.25 while Jadeja bowled with the economy of 5.25.

The opening pair of CSK was Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra. After a steady start by CSK, RCB got a breakthrough as Ruturaj Gaikwad got out in the 4^th over after scoring 15 runs by Yash Dayal (impact player). Cameron Green broke the steady partnership of Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell as Ajinkya Rahane got out after scoring 27 runs in the 11^th over.

CSK’s steady line up led to their win of the first match of IPL 2024 by 6 wickets. Shivam Dube (impact player) and Ravindra Jadeja stand not out till the end.

In 2016, Kohli’s top score of 113 against Punjab Kings contributed to RCB’s formidable total of 211/3. Despite 16 seasons with RCB, Kohli has yet to lift an IPL trophy with the team. He aims to clinch the maiden title in the upcoming edition.

In the IPL 2024 auction, RCB bolstered their squad by securing the talents of both foreign and Indian players, including Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, and Saurav Chauhan.

RCB will commence their campaign with the season opener against Chennai Super Kings on Friday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Brendon McCullum, an England Test coach and former skipper for New Zealand, praised senior Indian players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their ICC Cricket World Cup performances. He expressed excitement about facing these two formidable players when England tours India in the following year. McCullum was in Bengaluru last week for the Leader’s Meet: India of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Innovation Lab, where he spoke to an assembly of international sports stakeholders.

“Yeah. I like his captaincy (Rohit Sharma’s captaincy). I think his captaincy is bold. He takes risks and he takes the game on. And when you add the talent base of India to these kinds of tactics, then he can achieve very good things. He has been a great leader for not just India but for Mumbai Indians over the years as well,” said McCullum to ANI about Rohit’s captaincy.
Speaking about Virat, McCullum said that Virat was always billed as a future superstar since his early days as a cricketer and he has lived upto that hype and dealt with the hopes and dreams of over a billion people over the years.

“Well, obviously Virat, I know him pretty well from my time at RCB and also playing against him. So look, he was always touted as a future superstar and he has lived up to, he has dealt with the hopes and the dreams of over a billion people and he has been able to perform on the big stage. He deserves every accolade that he gets,” said McCullum.
McCullum is excited for the tour to India as England’s Test coach, saying that it would be an amazing challenge for their side against a team that is unmatched in their home territory.

A trade has been made between MI and Royal Challengers Bangalore for all-rounder Cameron Green. At the auction in December of last year, Green—who cost an incredible Rs 17.5 crore—was the winner of 16 games. With two half-centuries and an undefeated century to go along with six wickets taken, the Australian had a fantastic start to the IPL. As per the current player fee, trades have been completed.
