He greeted the crowds lining the streets and displayed the BJP’s ‘lotus’ symbol to garner support for the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him during the event. The Bareilly constituency comprises five Assembly segments: Meerganj, Bhojipura, Nawabganj, Bareilly, and Bareillycantt. The voting for the Bareilly Lok Sabha Election 2024 is scheduled for May 7 in Phase 3.

Today, Uttar Pradesh witnessed voting in eight parliamentary constituencies including Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr. The Election Commission of India reported that polling commenced at 7 am on Friday across 88 constituencies spanning 13 States and Union Territories for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Initially, 89 constituencies were slated for polling today. However, the Election Commission later announced that voting in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul constituency would not proceed during the second phase due to the unfortunate demise of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate. The first phase of the seven-phased Lok Sabha election, recognized as the world’s largest electoral exercise, took place on April 19 across 102 constituencies spanning 21 states and UTs. The Election Commission reported a voter turnout of over 62 per cent. The third phase of the election is scheduled for May 7.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a roadshow in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s efforts to expand its presence in the southern states on Tuesday.

PM Modi conducted his second roadshow in Tamil Nadu within a month.

The roadshow commenced near Panagal Park and concluded near Teynampet signal. The Prime Minister campaigned for BJP’s South Chennai candidate Tamilisai Soundarajan, Central Chennai candidate Vinoj P Selvam, and North Chennai candidate Paul Kanagaraj. Large crowds gathered on both sides of the road to witness the event and showered petals on the Prime Minister.

PM Modi was observed holding the party’s “Kamal” (Lotus) logo in his hand.

BJP candidate from South Chennai, Tamilisai Soundararajan, said, “There is a spark of happiness. We are so fortunate to have a Prime Minister like him. There is a lot of enthusiasm among our workers. PM Modi’s visit will help us, we will win. People of South Chennai are very happy…”

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai accompanied PM Modi during the roadshow. Former Telangana Governor and BJP candidate from South Chennai, Tamilisai Soundararajan, was also in attendance.

Earlier, Tamilisai said, “There is a spark of happiness. We are so fortunate to have a Prime Minister like him. There is a lot of enthusiasm among our workers. PM Modi’s visit will help us, we will win. People of South Chennai are very happy.”

The BJP has nominated former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to contest against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) Tamilachi Thangapandian in South Chennai. In Central Chennai, the party has put forward Vinoj P Selvam to compete against DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran. The Prime Minister’s visit to Tamil Nadu spans two days, during which he will participate in two public meetings in the state on Wednesday.

Voting for all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu is scheduled for the first phase of the general elections on April 19.

During the 2019 general elections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, which included the Congress, VCK, MDMK, CPI, CPI(M), IUML, MMK, KMDK, TVK, AIFB, achieved a landslide victory, securing 38 out of the 39 seats in the state.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that he considers himself a “bhakt” of Mahakaal, emphasizing that he only bows before the people of the country or in front of Mahakaal.

Addressing a rally in Balaghat, PM Modi extended his heartfelt greetings of Navratri to the people of Balaghat and remarked, “The land of Balaghat is a witness to the might of India’s women power.”

“For decades post-independence, Congress clung to outdated notions, viewing India through the lens of poverty. Their focus on infrastructure was limited to a few major cities where their leaders resided, neglecting others,” PM Modi said.

He further stated that the BJP is guided by the principle of inclusive development and always prioritizes every corner of the nation.

“Our government channels substantial funds into modern infrastructure projects across cities and villages, exemplifying our commitment to progress for all,” he added.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the elections to 543 Lok Sabha seats will be conducted in seven phases, with nearly 97 crore voters eligible to cast their votes. The counting of votes has been scheduled for June 4.

</excerpt>

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief and Coimbatore Lok Sabha candidate, K Annamalai, launched his election campaign with a roadshow in Madurai, starting from Teppakulam Maidanam. Riding on an open-roofed vehicle, Annamalai kicked off his campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“MK Stalin and DMK are the enemies of Tamil Nadu and the people of the state. Today, it is only the BJP that is in the field and campaigning for the election,” Annamalai said, emphasizing the BJP’s strong presence in the electoral arena.

“June 4 will attest to the fact that Tamil Nadu will come Modiji’s way, that is, in a very big way,” Annamalai earlier stated, expressing his confidence in the BJP’s prospects in Tamil Nadu.

Annamalai, a former Karnataka cadre IPS officer, joined the BJP in 2020 after resigning from the service in 2019. He assumed the role of BJP state president a year later.

The Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 19, with all 39 seats going to polls in the first phase. The results, along with those from other phases, will be counted on June 4.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the DMK secured a sweeping victory in Tamil Nadu, winning 23 seats and garnering the majority of the total votes polled at 33.2 per cent. Its ally, the Congress, won 8 seats with 12.9 per cent of the votes. Other parties like CPI, CPI (M), and IUML also secured seats, while two seats went to Independents.

The general elections for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19. Approximately 97 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in this election.

</excerpt>

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, gearing up to file his nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, held a roadshow in Kerala’s Wayanad, where he secured a massive margin of over four lakh votes in the 2019 Parliament polls. Thousands of party workers and supporters joined the roadshow, including his sister Priyanka Gandhi and other Congress leaders.

“Rahul Gandhi is contesting against Annie Raja, who is a well-known left leader nationally. She strongly called out the Bharatiya Janata Party’s government (BJP) in the Manipur issue and she was attacked by calling her anti-national. But what is Rahul Gandhi’s role in this? We can see Annie Raja’s presence in every protest that is happening in the country. But we can’t see Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader in Congress, among such protesters,” Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized.

Communist Party of India (CPI) Lok Sabha candidate from Wayanad, Annie Raja, also filed her nomination on the same day. The CPI is part of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front in Kerala. While the CPI and the Congress are partners in the opposition INDIA bloc, they are fierce contenders in Kerala, often pitting their strongest candidates against each other.

“Congress Party is claiming that they are leading the joint fight against the BJP. Then why is their biggest leader contesting elections from Kerala, where there is no fight with the BJP? He should fight from Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP has the biggest stronghold. If he defeats the BJP there, it will have a huge impact,” Shubhashini Ali, a leader of the CPI (M) that is part of the INDIA alliance questioned Rahul Gandhi’s candidature from Wayanad constituency against the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate Annie Raja.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rahul Gandhi won from Wayanad with a huge margin, securing 64.94 per cent vote share. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 19 out of 20 seats in Kerala in the same election.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi will hold a roadshow in Kerala’s Palakkad on Tuesday.

This is the prime minister’s second event in Kerala within one week and the rally will be held in support of the NDA candidates. This also marks the fourth visit of the Prime Minister to the State this year.

The roadshow will be held on a one kilometre long stretch from Kotta Maidan to the Head Post Office Road in the town.

The PM earlier today in a social media post on X said, “Thank you Coimbatore. I will always cherish the affection I’ve received here. On the way to Palakkad to take part in a roadshow after which will go to Salem for a rally.”

Thank you Coimbatore. I will always cherish the affection I’ve received here.

On the way to Palakkad to take part in a roadshow after which will go to Salem for a rally. pic.twitter.com/fk5IRdfzsc

— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 19, 2024

Ahead of the roadshow, the Bharatiya Janata Party held a bike rally in Palakkad town on Monday evening.

On March 15 PM Modi had addressed a public meeting in Pathanamthitta in support of the NDA candidates in south Kerala constituencies.

There are 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala and the BJP has never won a parliamentary seat in the state.

Addressing the public campaign in Pathanamthitta for candidates of the BJP-led NDA, PM Modi that the people of the state will benefit only if the cycle of consecutive Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) governments is broken.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh in a social media post recalled that Kerala is the state that the Prime Minister had infamously compared to Somalia and asked whether “the Prime Minister finally apologise to the people of Kerala for his misleading commentary on the state.”

“Kerala’s performance on development indicators has been consistently better than *all* Indian states,” the Congress leader said in a post on X.

“Kerala is home to the Western Ghats, an extremely fragile but important ecosystem. In the last 10 years, under Modi’s tutelage, there have been continuous assaults on its ecosystem. The Modi Government has diluted all environment and forest laws to help a few favoured corporates, and perhaps to repay the debts incurred for their purchase of the BJP’s electoral bonds. Will the Prime Minister come clean on what his motivations were when he was diluting our environmental protection regime to favour his corporate friends?” he posted on X.

Also Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan on Monday alleged that there is an unholy nexus between CPI(M) and BJP and that the CBI and ED is not questioning Kerala CM Pinrayi Vijayan of the SNC Lavalin case which was postponed for 38 times, adding that they had brought evidence to prove that.

The PM had said in Pathanamthitta rally, “Kerala’s culture is connected with spirituality, but UDF and LDF are known for crushing this. The culture of Kerala promotes peace but the UDF and LDF believe in political violence. LDF is known for looting through gold, UDF’s identity is from solar power loot. To stop this game of looting, I have come here to seek your blessings,”

“Due to the corrupt and incompetent government in Kerala, people are suffering, and you will benefit only if the cycle of consecutive LDF and UDF governments is broken,” the prime minister added.

He also reached out to the Christian community, which has a significant presence in the district.

Stating that Kerala will come out of the circle of LDF-UDF he promised that he will “leave no stone unturned for the development of Kerala…”

“Lotus is going to bloom in Kerala this time,” the PM said.

He also said that both the LDF and UDF governments had ignored the struggles of rubber planters.

Modi first visited the state in January and attended a women’s conclave in Thrissur.
In January again he visited Thrissur to attend the marriage of BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s daughter at Guruvayur. he also held a road show in Kochi.

In January again he visited Thrissur to attend the marriage of BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s daughter at Guruvayur he also held a road show in Kochi.

PM Modi had last month attended the finale of BJP state president K Surendran’s padayatra at Thiruvananthapuram.

He also inaugurated space infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,800 crore at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre during his visit there and bestowed ‘astronaut wings’ to four astronaut-designates.

Following the roadshow in Palakkad, Modi will leave for Salem in Tamil Nadu where he will address a public meeting this afternoon.

PM Modi visited at least 35 memorials along the road, including those for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

From 2001 to 2014, Gujarat’s longest-serving chief minister was Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP won 99 out of a total of 182 seats in the 2017 elections in Gujarat. With Narendra Modi serving as the state’s chief minister for the longest period of time, the party has been in power for the past 27 years.

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah while reacting to the Congress’ “Ravan” remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that whenever Congress has used inappropriate against PM Modi, people of Gujarat have always given a reply through the ballot box.
Shah was holding a roadshow in Sanand in Ahmedabad, the Home Minister said, “Whenever Congress has used inappropriate words against PM Modi, then the people of Gujarat have given a reply through the ballot box. This time also the people of the state will give a reply.”
While the first phase of voting is taking place in 89 of the state’s 182 constituencies, the home minister is holding a roadshow.

Numerous people participated in the roadshow with the home minister.
“Under the tenure of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, various problems were solved in Gujarat. Gujarat used to face the problem of water scarcity, but a permanent solution was found by Narendra Modi by building check damns, bringing ‘Naramada Yojna’ and ‘Sujalam Sufalam Yojana. Electricity is being supplied for 24 hours and health services have been upgraded across the State. The enrollment and dropout issue in schools was solved. Efforts made by Narendra Modi in solving these basic problems of Gujarat is deeply appreciated by the people of Gujarat,” Shah said.
He termed the anti-radical cell is a proactive step and “If we control radicalisation, then terrorism and riots will be controlled”.

Notably, while running for office, Congress chairman Mallikarjun Kharge referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Ravana at a rally in Ahmedabad’s Behrampura neighbourhood, saying, “In each of these campaigns, Modi just discusses himself. How often do we have to hear, “Don’t look at anyone else, just look at Modi and vote”? How many different forms are there? Do you own 100 heads, as Ravan does?”
