Jaipur Restaurant Slammed for Storing Meat with Veg Food, Serving Stale Paneer

A video shared by content creator Urvashi Agarwal on Instagram has raised alarms regarding food safety at a well-known Jaipur eatery. The video, which has gone viral, shows a food inspection led by Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Pankaj Ojha.

During the inspection, Ojha asked the restaurant storage methods and told, “How many days old is this stored in the freezer? This is an alarming situation.” He criticized the storing of raw meat beside vegetarian items such as gravy. He said, “Aam janta ki aastha ke saath isse bada khilwar nahi ho sakta.”Further, Ojha inspects a piece of paneer found in dirty water which he calls “stinking.”

Agarwal’s caption for the video reads, “Food Safety Officers Rajasthan inspected Up & Up, The Musical Terrace and found major food and safety violations.”

Indian YouTuber and businessman Ishan Sharma recently appreciated a diner for its no service-charge policy. He also shared an image of a food bill on X, where he commented on the pricing model of this eatery, which excluded an additional service charge for the services. Along with posting the same, he also presented a bill for a five-course meal of vegetarian delights, paneer khurchan, daal bhukhara, paneer makhani, khasta roti, and pudina parantha. The total amount billled out to Rs. 10,030.

“Restaurants, take note!” Sharma wrote, highlighting the absence of service charges on the bill. But his post went viral for all the wrong reasons – it was too pricey.

Many social media users were shocked by the steep prices for what was considered a typical North Indian meal. One user pointed out: “Rs. 2900 for paneer makhani, Rs. 1125 for three paranthas and Rs. 400 for a roti.” Another user commented humorously, “Jitne paise aapne Paneer Makhni ke pay kiye hain utne mein Darbhanga University mein MA ho jaati hai.”

Other users were equally stunned, noting that Rs. 10,000 could cover a weekend trip or an extensive shopping spree. One even suggested that the money could have been spent on high-quality earphones instead.

Many trolled Sharma for complimenting on the non-imposition of service charge when the meal was already overpriced. “Bro, they charged you Rs. 375 for a roti worth Rs. 25, they wouldn’t care to collect a 10% SC,” one user quipped.

Another user commented: “Increase price to a point that they don’t need service charge separately.” One more user speculated that the service charge was probably added to the overpriced dishes: “I think, they have added service charge and all other charges in each dish’s price. Rs. 375 for 1 roti (Khasta or whatever) – You can get a full meal in this on Zomato without any discount.”

Massive Fire Erupts at Rajouri Garden Restaurant in Delhi

A huge fire engulfed the Jungle Jamboree restaurant in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area on Monday. Officials rushed 10 fire engines to douse the flames. Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said, “We got a fire call near Rajouri Garden Metro Station at 2.01 pm. 10 fire tenders were sent immediately to the spot to douse the flames.

The fire cause is not known, and the thick smoke spread across the area, raising panic among local shopkeepers. To assist firefighting efforts, authorities cordoned off the area.

These regulations require all food establishments to display the names and addresses of their operators, proprietors, and managers prominently. Furthermore, chefs and waitstaff are now mandated to wear masks and gloves, and the installation of CCTV cameras in hotels and restaurants has become compulsory.

This initiative follows a Supreme Court ruling two months ago that suspended similar orders from the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand police, which had mandated restaurants along the Kanwar Yatra route to showcase the names of their proprietors. Bengaluru Restaurant Fined For Serving Cold Food To High BP Patient

A restaurant near a National Highway in the Bengaluru Urban district has been fined for not providing hot and hygienic food to a customer.

On June 19, the First Additional District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered the Udupi Garden restaurant to pay a fine of Rs 7,000.

The complainant, Tahara, 56, from Koramangala in Bengaluru, stated that she was traveling to Hassan for a family trip on July 30, 2022, when she stopped at the restaurant for breakfast. She claimed that the food served was cold and not fresh. When she requested a hot meal, the staff rudely informed her that it could not be provided.

Tahara, who has high blood pressure, alleged that because she couldn’t eat the food, she was unable to take her medication.

Commission president B Narayanapappa fined the restaurant Rs 5,000 for the deficiency of service and an additional Rs 2,000 to cover litigation expenses.

Tragedy Strikes in China : Gas blast at Chinese restaurant kills 31, injures 7

At least 31 people tragically perished in a gas explosion at a BBQ restaurant in Yinchuan City, China’s Ningxia province, according to CNN. Seven additional people were hurt in the event. The explosion, which happened on Wednesday at around 8:40 p.m., was reportedly brought on by a leak in a liquid petrol tank within the restaurant, according to state broadcaster CCTV. One victim is still in serious condition, but the other injured people are being treated for minor wounds, burns, and cuts brought on by shattered glass.

Local fire authorities promptly responded to the incident, dispatching 20 vehicles and over 100 personnel to the scene. Rescue and search operations continued until 4 am local time, as reported by state media.

The pictures shared by the state media showcase the damaged building with blackened exteriors, debris on the ground and smoke in the air. Firefighters were seen going towards the second floor on a ladder and moving people out on stretchers, the CNN report said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping described the explosion as “heartbreaking” and stressed that it was a “profound lesson.” He has directed the authorities on the scene to make “all efforts” to treat the injured, strengthen safety supervision and protect the safety of people, CNN cited CCTV.
