Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney involved in charges against Adani, will resign before Donald Trump assumes office. The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that Peace will step down on January 10, 2025.

After Peace leaves, Carolyn Pokorny, the First Assistant United States Attorney, will become the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

Peace Reflects on His Time in Office

In his resignation statement, Peace said it was an honor to serve. He noted that protecting the district’s eight million residents and promoting civil rights were his top priorities. “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as United States Attorney,” Peace stated.

Jordanian Prime Minister Resigns Following Election Gains By Islamist Opposition

Jordan’s Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh resigned on Sunday, just days after parliamentary elections showed significant gains for the Islamist opposition. Jaafar Hassan, the current head of King Abdullah’s office and a former planning minister, is expected to succeed Khasawneh.

Congress Leader Resigns Over J&K Party’s Glaring Failures

Jahanzaib Sirwal, a Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir, resigned from the party on Thursday, citing its inability to fulfill the aspirations and desires of the people in the Union Territory.

In his letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sirwal claimed that the J-K party unit has become directionless and visionless, lacking any significant policies. He further accused the current leadership of systematically marginalizing the voices of grassroots workers and leaders in the region.

“Recent events have led me to re-evaluate my allegiance to the party. Despite my unwavering commitment, I can no longer ignore the glaring failures of the Congress party in addressing the aspirations and will of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir has become directionless, visionless and devoid of any meaningful policies. The voices of the grassroots workers and leaders have been systematically sidelined by the inept leadership that currently governs affairs in the region,” he stated.

Sirwal also stated that entrusting leadership to those who are incompetent has led to the party’s downfall and has alienated the masses who previously saw Congress as their representative voice.

“After much contemplation and soul-searching, I have decided to part ways with the Congress party. My decision stems from a desire to truly represent the people and uphold their interests with honesty and integrity. Rather than perpetuating false hopes and promises,” he elaborated.

JP Nadda resigns as Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagar Prakash Nadda resigned as Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh on Monday, following his uncontested election to the Upper House from Gujarat. Nadda was one of 57 Rajya Sabha MPs whose term was ending in April 2024.

The Rajya Sabha parliamentary bulletin confirmed Nadda’s resignation, stating, “Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in the Rajya Sabha and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f 4th March, 2024.” JP Nadda, originally from Himachal Pradesh, has served as a Rajya Sabha member for the state since 2012.

Following Nadda’s resignation, an election was held to fill the vacant seat in Himachal Pradesh. In a closely contested election, BJP’s Harsh Mahajan won the seat after defeating Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi in a draw of lots. Both candidates had secured 34 votes each, leading to Mahajan’s victory by draw of lots.

Sexual harassment case: WFI chief changes colour, ready to resign if PM Modi or BJP ask

BJP MP and head of the nation’s wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has come under pressure following allegations of sexual harassment made by prominent wrestlers, has reiterated that the claims are baseless but has also stated that he is willing to resign if Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the BJP ask him to.

Opposition parties are now requesting that the PM call the MP to resign after accusing the BJP leadership of protecting the WFI chief despite the severe charges.

“Why will (Prime Minister) Modi ji ask me to (resign?” asked Mr Singh. and I’ll do it if he asks me to. If Modi ji or the party wants me to resign), I will if my party is suffering as a result of me or if its reputation is being damaged.

Leading wrestlers across the nation, such as Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia, have been demonstrating at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the past week. In response to charges of sexual harassment made against Mr Singh by multiple wrestlers, including a minor, they have been calling for action.

Due to charges of bullying, UK Deputy PM Dominic Raab resigned

UK Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab on Friday resigned in the wake of bullying allegations.

T”I am writing to resign from your government, following receipt of the report arising from the inquiry conducted by Adam Tolley KC. I called for the inquiry and undertook to resign if it made any finding of bullying whatsoever. I believe it is important to keep my word,” read Raab’s statement. Allegations surfaced about Raab in November, with former staff claiming he created a “culture of fear” in their departments.

He denied the allegations and requested an investigation into himself after two formal complaints were made.The Dy PM and Justice Secretary, Raab was appointed by Rishi Sunak after he took power in October.

“It has been a privilege to serve you as Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Secretary and Lord Chancellor. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work as a Minister in a range of roles and departments since 2015, and pay tribute to the many outstanding civil servants with whom I have worked,” he said.

Raab’s departure follows Sunak’s decision to dismiss Tory party chairman Nadhim Zahawi from his post in January after the former chancellor was found to have broken the ministerial code over his tax affairs.

TMC Mukul Roy confimes ‘I am not a part of TMC, have already resigned from party’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy on Wednesday said that he has resigned from the TMC party and if BJP entrusts him with the responsibility he will take it.
While addressing the press conference in Delhi, Mukul Roy said, “There is no question of resigning from TMC. I am not even a part of it. I have already resigned from TMC”. “Previously I was in BJP and again I will be in the same party. If BJP entrusts me with responsibilities I will duly take it,” he added.

Earlier Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari said that West Bengal BJP is not interested in bringing rejected leaders from the other parties.
“We are not interested in these types of people. We are interested in strengthening the booth. West Bengal BJP is now very self-independent. We don’t need to bring any leaders. We are not allowing this type of rejected people,” Suvendu Adhikari had said.
A missing complaint regarding TMC MLA Mukul Roy was lodged at Kolkata’s NSCBI Airport police station by his son Subhranshu Roy on Monday night.

Asked why he had filed a missing report of his father Mukul Roy, Subhranshu said, “I know he has gone to Delhi but I do not know where in Delhi he has gone. My father is not well. His phone is also switched off.”Subhranshu said Mukul Roy had brain surgery a few days ago.

“I do not know anything about how he suddenly went to Delhi. When I got the news yesterday, I went to the Kolkata airport and appealed to the airport authority and the airport police station to bring Mukul Roy back. But Airport Authority and Central Industrial Security Force did not cooperate in any way showing the flight takeoff protocol,” Subhranshu said.
Former Union Railway Minister Mukul Roy is an MLA from the Krishnanagar North and had contested the polls on a BJP ticket. After he joined TMC, BJP demanded the cancellation of Roy’s membership from the Assembly.

Antonio Conte parts ways with the Spurs after 16 months

After 16 months in command, Antonio Conte has departed Tottenham Hotspur by mutual consent, the club announced on Sunday. Cristian Stellini, Conte’s assistant, has been designated acting head coach for the remainder of the season, with Ryan Mason named Stellini’s assistant.

“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a fight on our hands for a Champions League place,” stated chairman Daniel Levy in a statement issued Sunday evening. We must all work together. Everyone must pitch in to secure the best possible finish for our team and our incredible, devoted fans.”

Sources have told that Conte had grown frustrated at what he perceived was a difference in strategy with the club reluctant to commit to the radical overhaul of the team he believed was necessary.

This concern had been expressed privately on multiple occasions, but Conte could not hide his anger at the players after they allowed a 3-1 lead to slip at Southampton, conceding twice in the final 15 minutes to draw the game 3-3 just prior to the international break.

Spurs will now hunt for their ninth manager since winning the League Cup against Chelsea in 2008. Tottenham was interested in former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who was open to coaching in the Premier League after being fired by the Blues in September, but Bayern Munich rushed in and brought the German to the Allianz Arena before any substantive talks could take place.

UK: Liz Truss resigns as Prime Minister

Liz Truss, Prime Minister of UK resinged on Thursday. She was in power foe less than 2 months. She stated that she recognises she “cannot deliver the mandate” on which she was elected as the eason to resign. “I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability. Families and businesses were worried about how to pay their bills, Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine threatens the security of our whole continent and our country has been held back for too long by low economic growth,” she said in a statement. “I will remain as prime minister until a successor has been chosen. Thank you,” Truss added.

This came after a day after Home Secretary Suella Braverman tendered her resignation, citing “technical infringement of the rules” she committed while sending official documents to a parliamentary colleague.

Braveman tweeted,”Pretending we haven’t made mistakes, carrying on as if everyone can’t see that we have made them, and hoping that things will magically come right is not serious politics. I have made a mistake, I accept responsibility; I resign.” She wrote a letter to PM Truss, expressing concerns about the direction of the government and pointed out that the key pledges made to the voters have been broken. Braveman also accepted that she committed “technical infringement of the rules” by sending official documents from her personal email to a parliamentary colleague.

A week prior to Braveman’s resignation, UK Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng was fired. He served for less than six weeks.

Kwarteng was sacked after the new government’s September 23 plan of massive tax cuts resulted in the plunging of British government bonds.
Truss had succeeded Boris Johnson as PM last month.

MLA quits BJP: Huge setback for the party in Tripura

Bhartiya Janta Party government has faced another blow in Tripura after MLA Burba Mohan Tripura submitted his resignation on Friday, the first day of the assembly session.
Before him three more MLAs from BJP, Ashish Das, Sudip Roy Barman, and Ashish Kumar Saha have resigned in the past four and a half years. Ashish Das joined the Trinamool Congress, while Sudip Roy Barman and Ashish Kumar Saha chose Congress over BJP.

Mohan submitted a letter to speaker Ratan Chakraborty and wrote,“ I hereby tender my resignation to the membership of 43(ST) Karbook Constituency Assembly and request you to kindly accept my resignation.”
He won from Karbook Constituency in the 2018 assembly polls. Speculations are made that after resigning from BJP, he may join Tipra Motha, the regional political party which was initially a social organization of Tripura.

The MLA of Karbook cited ‘personal reasons’ for quitting as a member of the assembly.
Tripura Assembly speaker Ratan Chakraborty told PTI, “The BJP MLA of Karbook assembly segment met me and submitted his resignation letter citing personal reasons. He was accompanied by Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma.”

Yogendra Yadav resigns from SKM coordination committee

Activist Yogendra Yadav resigned from the coordination committee of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Sunday.

In a resignation letter Yogendra Yadav wrote, “To give priority to coordination between all the mass movements and Opposition political parties, I should be relieved of the responsibility of the Coordination Committee of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha.”

Meanwhile, for further responsibilities, Yadav suggested the name of Jai Kisan Andolan president Avik Saha.

Moreover, Yadav talked about Avik Saha and said he will always be a soldier of the SKM.

However, last year Yadav was the key leader of the farmers’ protest held on the borders of Delhi against the three farm laws introduced by the Centre.
