A new western disturbance may further raise temperatures and impact air quality. Read the full report here.
</excerpt>

The national capital on Sunday witnessed its warmest Republic Day in eight years, with the maximum temperature settling at 23.7 degrees Celsius—two notches above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The last time Delhi saw such warmth on January 26 was in 2017 when the mercury reached 26.1 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD, misty conditions are likely on Monday, with a maximum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius in Delhi.

Temperatures Trend on Republic Day

Delhi has recorded variable Republic Day temperatures over the years. The long-period average (LPA) maximum temperature for January 26, calculated since 1991, is 22.1 degrees Celsius. Over the past few years, temperatures have dropped, with a maximum of 20.6 degrees Celsius in 2024, 17.3 degrees Celsius in 2023, and 16.4 degrees Celsius in 2022.
It has been sunny on some days due to the dry, clear skies.

IMD attributed the above-normal maximum temperatures to clear skies and dry northwesterly winds. “Despite a recent western disturbance bringing some rain and snow to parts of northwest India, the maximum temperature in Delhi has remained relatively unaffected due to bright daytime sunshine,” explained Mahesh Palawat, Vice President, Skymet.

These clear skies and northwesterly winds, however, pushed night temperatures down. On Sunday, the minimum temperature in the national capital stood at 7.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, compared to 8.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 9.8 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Western Disturbance to Bring Temperature Changes

A fresh western disturbance will affect the region from January 28 onwards. The disturbance will change the wind pattern, slow downwind speed, and bring cloud cover. This will trap heat at night, increasing night temperatures.

“The disturbance will shift wind patterns, reduce wind speeds, and bring cloud cover, which will trap heat at night and cause night temperatures to rise,” added Palawat.

IMD forecasts that the minimum temperature will rise to 9-11 degrees Celsius by the weekend and the maximum will likely stay between 24-26 degrees Celsius.
Air quality has worsened to ‘poor’

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) entered the ‘poor’ category on Sunday, registering 216, compared to Saturday’s ‘moderate’ level of 174. According to the Early Warning System (EWS) for Delhi, AQI levels are expected to remain in the ‘poor’ category on January 27 and 28 and may worsen to ‘very poor’ by January 29.

An AQI between 0-50 is classified as ‘good’, 51-100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 as ‘moderate’, 201-300 as ‘poor’, 301-400 as ‘very poor’, and 401-500 as ‘severe.’

Learn about the rich history, international participation, and cultural vibrance that mark this iconic day.
</excerpt>

Indonesia has a special place in the history of India’s Republic Day. Sukarno, the first President of Indonesia, was the chief guest on India’s first Republic Day in 1950. This year in 2025, Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia is the chief guest, marking the continued friendship between the two nations. An Indonesian National Armed Forces marching contingent and military band will also join the parade, giving it an international flavor.

The parade began at 2:30 PM in 1950, with President Dr. Rajendra Prasad riding in a coach renovated for the occasion and drawn by six Australian horses. Enthusiastic crowds cheered as the procession of the president made its way to the Irwin Amphitheatre on Republic Day. The event ended with a grand show that featured 3,000 personnel from the Armed Forces and police with seven massed bands. Spectators clad in their finest attire packed the 15,000-seat capacity of the amphitheater, while the surrounding venue vibrantly decorated the space.

Role of Indonesia in Republic Day Legacy

This year, the parade focuses on celebrating the progress and integration of India. The tri-services tableau shows the spirit of “Jointness” in the Armed Forces and is a recreation of synchronized battlefield scenarios. India showcased its military prowess with indigenous defense technologies, including the Arjun battle tank, Tejas fighter aircraft, and advanced light helicopters.

The spectacle of Jayati Jaya Mama Bharatam is set to showcase 5,000 artists performing 45 dance forms within an 11-minute extravaganza. Furthermore, Kartavya Path is extended, ensuring that all the guests will have the opportunity to witness the great cultural heritage of India through this captivating performance.

Trace the First Republic Day Celebrations

India celebrated its first Republic Day on January 26, 1950, not at Kartavya Path but at the Irwin Amphitheatre, now the National Stadium. The amphitheater, constructed in 1933 with a donation from the Maharaja of Bhavnagar, was an apt venue for this momentous occasion. This structure, dating back to the 1930s, was designed by Robert Torr Russell, the architect who designed Connaught Place, and it witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

At exactly 10:18 AM, India formally became the Sovereign Democratic Republic in a solemn ceremony at Durbar Hall, Government House. Six minutes later, Dr. Prasad took oath as the President. Immediately after 10:30 AM, a 31-gun salute declared the arrival of the Republic and its first leader. In his historic speech, first in Hindi and then in English, Dr. Prasad spoke of the importance of bringing India under one Constitution and one Union, which was responsible for the welfare of over 320 million citizens.

The Historic National Stadium

The old Irwin Amphitheatre is now the National Stadium, which is a prominent landmark. The National School Band Competition took place on the front lawns of the stadium on January 24-25, 2025, before Republic Day. A plaque on its wall commemorates the laying of the foundation stone by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru just a week before the first Republic Day.

National Stadium stands as a witness to the day in which the slogans of “Jai” arose to reverberate through its walls, establishing the foundation of the Republic of India. This site, in history, persists in inspiring the present with its legacy of unity, democracy, and cultural pride.

Lighting Up the Capital

Iconic buildings, parks, and railway stations in Delhi shimmered with light on January 26, 1950, turning the city into a “fairyland.” The Fauji Akhbar (now Sainik Samachar) chronicled the day’s events, witnessing a new life and status to the nation as a Republic.

India celebrates its 76th Republic Day by recalling the first Republic Day at the Irwin Amphitheatre and finally the grand parades on Kartavya Path. The day testifies to the unity, diversity, and progress of India and unites the nation in pride and patriotism.

This stunning aerial display demonstrates the IAF’s advanced capabilities, with a focus on precision flying and new additions to the fleet.
</excerpt>

The Indian Air Force is going to put up an aerial show of this year’s Republic Day, with 40 aircraft participating in a grand fly-past over Delhi. This impressive formation includes 22 fighter jets, 11 transport aircraft, and seven helicopters, all performing in 12 intricate formations.

The display will show the advanced capabilities of the IAF and emphasize the precision and power of the Air Force.

A Spectacular Beginning of Republic Day

The Fly-past on Republic Day starts with the Flag Formation. 4 Mi-17 helicopters will fly carrying the Indian national flag along with the flags of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It is more of a symbolic opening in which respect is paid to the armed forces before the extravaganza of aerial display that follows.

The Fighter Jets: Power And Precision In The Sky

The fly-past of India’s most advanced fighter jets would be some of the most eagerly awaited parts. Among them are the fighter formations of:

Katar Formation: Three MiG-29s would fly in an extremely tight formation, showcasing the agility of the fighter.

Amrit Formation: Five Jaguar aircraft would demonstrate precision in their synchronized flying.

Vajrang Formation: Six Rafale jets, including India’s newest combat aircraft, would bring an impressive display.

Trishul Formation: Three Sukhoi-30s will soar in the skies, and one will get a glimpse of its agility.

Netra Formation: Two Sukhois will form along with Netra, India’s advanced surveillance aircraft, to form a great power show.

The above formations, besides being reflective of IAF precision flying, emphasize the advanced technology and combat-readiness of its fleet, which includes Rafale and Sukhoi fighter jets.

New Additions: C-295 and Dornier Aircraft in Focus

Two C-295 transport aircraft will be included in the fly-past for the first time. This is part of India’s Make in India initiative. Along with these, 3 Dornier aircraft from the Indian Coast Guard will perform in the Rakshak Formation.

The C-17 Globemaster, India’s largest military transport aircraft, will also participate in the aerial display, underlining the IAF’s strategic airlift capabilities.

The Grand Finale: Rafale and Vertical-Charlie Maneuver

The fly-past will end with the Vijay Formation and an awe-inspiring Vertical-Charlie maneuver by the Rafale fighter jets. This spectacular aerial stunt will highlight the acrobatics and precision flying for which the IAF is renowned.

Marching with Pride: Air Warriors and Musicians

As part of the celebrations, 144 air warriors will march in the Republic Day parade, led by Squadron Leader Mahendra Singh. This year, Flight Lieutenant Damini Deshmukh, Flight Lieutenant Nepo Moiranthem, and Flying Officer Abhinav Ghosh will serve as supernumerary officers. A band of 72 Air Force musicians will accompany the march, playing the iconic Sound Barrier tune.

Absences from the Fly-Past: LCA Tejas and ALH Dhruv

While the display promises to be spectacular, some aircraft will not fly and will be grounded. The indigenous LCA Tejas has been kept out of the fly-past as it has a single engine. The ALH Dhruv helicopter, which met with a crash recently in Porbandar, will also stay grounded. It will fly only after the crash is probed into thoroughly.

This year, as expected, Republic Day will bring forth a spectacular fly-past into memory, emphasizing that the Indian Air Force stands ever-ready to keep a vigilant watch on India’s skies while ensuring that all regions remain free of wars and security breaches. Moreover, with a mix of new additions and impressive formations executed with precision, this display is bound to linger long in everyone’s minds.

</excerpt>

For the first time, three Baiga families of the Pandaria development block in Kabirdham district, Chhattisgarh, have been invited by President Droupadi Murmu to the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi on January 26, 2025. It is a historical milestone for this PVTG and the great change that has occurred among them during the last couple of years.

Baiga Families to Travel to Delhi

The three selected families will travel to Delhi for the first time. These families include Jagatin Bai Baiga and her husband, Phool Singh Baiga, from the Patapri village under Kadawani Gram Panchayat. Being invited here is a mark of their progress and the efforts of the government to bring improvements in their lives. Jagatin Bai added: “We get electricity. We are very happy.”. We used to live in darkness, and there was always fear of insects.”

The Baiga community, which had long struggled with isolation and lack of basic amenities, has seen significant improvements in recent years. These changes include the installation of solar-powered lights in every home in Patapri village, marking a significant shift towards modernization.

A Transformative Shift: Solar Energy and Government Initiatives

The shift to solar-powered electricity has been a game-changer for the Baiga families. Phool Singh Baiga recalled the time when the village relied on a small solar panel costing just a few rupees. “Earlier, we had a small solar panel that cost 7-8 rupees. Sometimes, we could use it to cook, but often we had to cook in the dark,” he explained. The efforts of the government have made Patapri village have 24-hour solar lighting, allowing the villagers to live with more security and ease.

In October 2024, Collector Gopal Verma launched the installation of 300-watt solar home lighting systems in every house in Patapri village. This step has not only put an end to the isolation of the village but also enabled the community to experience basic modern amenities, transforming their lives day-to-day.

Impact of Electricity on Baiga Families

The installation of electricity has affected the lives of the Baiga families immensely. “Now, with electricity, we can visit each other’s houses freely,” said Phool Singh. “Before Diwali, we didn’t have enough light. Cooking with firewood was the norm. We lived in fear due to the darkness in the village surrounded by forests. Now that there is light, our fear has diminished.

Jagatin Bai said, “With electricity, we now have fans. We don’t feel the heat, and the children are happy.” The change has also enabled the younger generation to study and play without the constraints of darkness.

A Dream Comes True: The Invitation to Delhi

For the Baiga families, this invitation is more than a visit to the nation’s capital. It is a celebration of their progress, resilience, and the opportunities that have opened up due to government schemes. Jagatin Bai, who had never traveled more than 10 kilometers from her village, expressed her excitement: “It would be an experience to travel in a train-like vehicle that I have never seen before,” she said. Her enthusiasm reflects the vast changes this invitation represents for her and her family.

During their Delhi visit, Baiga families would be privileged to dine with the President, Droupadi Murmu. Other attractions include visits to the residence of the Prime Minister, Parliament House, and the President’s House. This historic moment has made the Baiga families and indeed the entire Kabirdham district feel elated.

A Proud Moment for Kabirdham and Chhattisgarh

District Collector Gopal Verma said: “It is a matter of great pride for Kabirdham district that six Baiga tribal families have been invited for the Republic Day celebrations. Under the Janman scheme, these Baiga families have received homes, and through CREDA’s solar energy scheme, their homes are illuminated.

Pandaria MLA Bhavna Bohra said that this was a moment of great pride for the whole region of Chhattisgarh. “The President is the supreme power of the country and this momentous occasion to dine at her table while the republic was celebrating Republic Day is an outstanding joy,” she said.

As historic host families, inviting the Baiga families to be a part of the Republic Day in 2025, is a living testimony to resilience and change induced by the intervention of the Government. It changes from a very isolated, darkest-of-life existence to participating with the nation itself on Republic Day. It indicates not only the feeling of pride they and each Kabirdham district citizen enjoy but for that matter the State of Chhattisgarh at large.

It will be the first time the Pralay missile will be showcased in public, marking an important milestone in India’s defense capabilities.

The missile, developed under the guidance of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has completed a series of trials and is soon to be tested by the Indian Army in user trials.

Pralay Missile and India’s Rocket Force

It includes the Pralay missile range, which runs between 150 and 500 kilometers, an enhancement of rocket power for future enhancement. The defense ministry had, recently, sanctioned purchases of 250 missiles, considering their importance in boosting the strength of the national missile defense shield. The use of the Pralay for the first time at the parade during Republic Day signifies India’s developments in homeland military technology besides strengthening the country with the modernity of defense.

Grand Performances and Dance Presentations

This year’s Republic Day Parade will be different from others as more than 5,000 dance artists will perform in the entire area of viewing space from Vijay Chowk to the India Gate C-hexagon. Vibrant cultural expressions will bring vibrancy to this event and will be a great visual treat to more than 77,000 visitors who will be present for the parade.

Triservice Tableau and Special Commemorations

First, a triservice tableau will be showcased, doing away with the usual separate tables of each service. This will also underline the jointness of the Indian armed forces. However, the Indian Navy will still have its tableau. The parade will also see special tableaux for the 150th birth anniversary of tribal hero Birsa Munda and the 150th year of the India Meteorological Department. A dedicated tableau for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the nation will pay homage to its rich legacy.

Guests and Foreign Participation

Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations, although Indian officials have denied any link to the sale of Brahmos missiles. As a representation of India-Indonesia ties, a 160-member marching contingent from Indonesia, along with a 190-member band contingent, will be a part of this celebration.

ALH is to be Grounded

The indigenous Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) will not be a part of this year’s flypast. The mishap happened when one of the ALHs crashed earlier this month and was subsequently grounded. Thus, the approximately 330 ALHs, which are being used by the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, would have to be temporarily grounded for safety reasons.

Invitations and Spectator Details

More than 77,000 spectators are expected to witness the grand parade of this year. So far, more than 32,000 tickets have been sold. Special invites have been sent to 10,000 prominent persons, including the heads of the villages who have successfully implemented the flagship schemes of the Government of India.

India’s Republic Day Parade 2025 will be a spectacular display of its defense capabilities, cultural diversity, and national achievements. The parade will have the Pralay missile for the first time, special commemorations, and international participation, making this year’s parade reflect India’s growth as a global power.

Even on Monday farmer leaders from the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have the detailed strategy for the tractor march. As per the programme, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm on Republic Day, farmers’ tractors will be stationed at shopping malls, silos, toll plazas, BJP offices, or along roadsides.

The farmer leaders said that depending on local conditions, the local leaders of both organizations will ensure that thousands of tractors are parked at one of these five designated locations for an hour and a half.

The farmer leaders also warned that if any folk artist faces retaliatory action by the government for supporting the farmers’ movement, both organizations will stand firmly behind these artists. On the other hand the Samyukta Kisan Morcha has also given a call for a parallel tractor march across the country against the anti-farmer policies being implemented through the “National Policy Framework on Agricultural Marketing (NPFAM).

Meanwhile, the SKM leaders have called a meeting on January 24 to decide the strategy and plan for the march”. However, the farmer leaders have suspended the Delhi March on January 21 as they said that the next decision will be taken after the meeting between farmers and union government.

On the other hand the doctors have claimed improvement in the health of fasting leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal after he took medical assistance. As per the medical bulletin there were slight signs of improvement in Dallewal’s health following the initiation of medical aid late at night two days ago.

The officials added that a detailed report will be shared once the latest blood sample results are available. A team of eight senior doctors was keeping a close eye over his health.

This raises doubts about their participation in the Republic Day flypast, while the investigation continues.
</excerpt>

Uncertainty surrounds the participation of India’s homegrown Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Fleet and its armed Rudra variant in the upcoming Republic Day flypast. The defense forces have grounded all ALH units for a routine safety check following a tragic accident involving a Coast Guard ALH on January 5. The crash resulted in the death of two pilots and an aircrew diver. The crash has prompted authorities to assess the safety of the ALH fleet before it can take part in any future events. The incident occurred over Porbandar in Gujarat when the aircraft suddenly crashed. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

These ALH helicopters have been adapted to the military’s flypasts during more important national events, among them the Republic Day and Army Day parades. However, due to safety reasons, the Dhruv helicopters are not featured as part of the 77th Army Day parade. Instead of Dhruv, Chetak and Cheetah helicopters will participate in the event.

Grounding and Safety Inspections of ALH Fleet

The three services and the coast guard together operate around 330 ALHs, and the army and the air force account for more than 90 Rudra helicopters all of them were grounded after the January 5 crash, along with seven to eight ALHs operated by the Border Security Force and civil entities.

“The Dhruv helicopters have been grounded given some flight safety issues,” said a senior official with knowledge of the development. This development came close on the heels of the fatal accident during a routine training sortie of the Coast Guard when the ALH again proved unfortunate after a string of mishaps that had started rearing questions on the fleet’s safety.

Investigation and Analysis of the Crash

To understand the reason behind the January 5 crash, the wreckage of ALH would be shifted to Bengaluru within a short time for detailed analysis by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). HAL had designed and manufactured the helicopter. The Integrated Drive System, transmission system, gearbox, and rotor hub of the helicopter would be taken over by the Indian Air Force for shifting it. Another official said, “The wreckage is being flown to Bengaluru, where detailed checks will be carried out to pinpoint what caused the crash.”

The investigation is expected to last up to two weeks. During this period, HAL will focus on finding any problems within the mechanical and safety systems of the helicopter. Should any faults be found, “it may take time to rectify the problem,” said a third official who did not want his name mentioned in the matter.

Safety Record of ALH Comes Under Scanner

The ALH has been involved in approximately 15 accidents over the past five years, raising concerns over its safety. In 2023, a series of accidents led to a comprehensive design review of the helicopter, including the replacement of booster control rods. These rods are critical in controlling the helicopter’s movement, and failures could severely affect power transmission to the rotor blades, potentially leading to crashes.

Despite multiple attempts to improve safety the safety record of the ALH fleet remains concerning. During a upgradation, in 2023 a faulty aluminum booster control rods was replaced with new steel once. The fleet has been involved in a series of accidents, raising serious concerns. This ongoing issue has put additional focus on the need for further safety enhancements. This led the Coast Guard to suspend the operations of the ALH fleet last September after a similar crash near Porbandar resulted in the deaths of two pilots and an aircrew diver.

Safety Inspections and Design Review Extensive

Following the recent series of accidents, HAL has carried out a thorough safety inspection of the Dhruv fleet. This will cover all the important safety components like the main drive flexible shaft, rotor assemblies, control systems, and actuators. These checks are part of an ongoing effort to address flight safety concerns and prevent future accidents.

Earlier this year, in April 2023, the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification of the Government had already sought a design review of the ALH’s booster control rods due to earlier accidents with the helicopter. This was a step to upgrade the airworthiness of the helicopter and rebuild confidence in the safety of the fleet.

Effect on Republic Day Flypast

Three Coast Guard ALHs were supposed to join this year’s Republic Day flypast along with helicopters from the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The crash on January 5 is now under investigation. Due to safety concerns, which are yet to be cleared, and the grounding of the Dhruv fleet, the helicopters will not participate.

The Republic Day will still feature the helicopters of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, but this year, it saw a major shift in the norm as Dhruv ALH and its armed version, the Rudra, are not in the lineup.

Senior police officers accompanied him during the visit, emphasizing the need for smooth celebrations and security checks at all borders. Kalsi stated, “In view of Republic Day, we are making several arrangements. Our only motive is to organize a smooth celebration.”

In light of Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Airport will experience a suspension of flights between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm from January 19 to January 26, as stated in an official announcement by Delhi International Airport Limited on Saturday.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the Republic Day parade camp organized by the National Cadet Corps in the national capital on Saturday, gearing up for the annual event on January 26.

French President Emmanuel Macron will serve as the chief guest on January 26, marking the sixth occasion of a French leader’s participation in Republic Day celebrations at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.

A notable feature of this year’s Republic Day parade will be the participation of the Border Security Force’s (BSF) all-women marching and brass band contingents on Kartavya Path. Led by an Assistant Commandant rank woman officer and two subordinate officers, a total of 144 women BSF constables will march during India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations in the presence of Emmanuel Macron.

To enhance security measures, the Delhi Police has enforced a prohibition on the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in the national capital. This prohibition will remain in effect for 29 days, from January 18 to February 15, unless withdrawn earlier.

</excerpt>

A few days prior to the 75th Republic Day, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today (Saturday) attended the Republic Day parade camp organized by the National Cadet Corps. He said, “After seeing your performance today, I would like to say it was excellent. I would like to congratulate and bless the NCC students for organizing such a wonderful cultural program. Your dedication has inspired me. I am confident that every cadet of the NCC is filled with such dedication and talent.”

“I was told that some of the cadets have come from distant villages. I would like to say that any village in the country is not ‘distant’. This is the Mantra of ‘Shreshtha Bharat, Ek Bharat'” he added.

Talking about the importance of NCC, he said, “In this competitive era, students aspire to achieve a lot of things in their lives. Some want to pursue medicine while some want to enter the engineering field. Many students look forward to kicking of their startups. In order to fulfil your dreams, you have to work hard. Some might question why to join the NCC at the same time when there is a lot to do with their studies. Let me tell you, the NCC helps you get indulged in Physical activities. It enhances your social skills. It enriches you with love and respect towards the nation.”

” India became independent only because of this sense of national pride… People like Chandrashekhar Azad killed himself with the last bullet in his revolver so that a British-made bullet would not enter his body and corrupt it, that is when India became independent. This is called a sense of pride,” he added.

It is the NCC that gives a wide range of training to the students wing of the Indian Army.

</excerpt>

US-based terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who is the founder of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has delivered fresh threats ahead of Jan 26 (Republic Day). Pro Khalistani graffiti on social media are also getting viral that contains threats ahead of the Republic Day parade on Jan 26. It claims that the group aims to “avenge” the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Informing that Nijjar was killed outside a Gurdwara in Surrey, Canada on June 18 last year by unanimous men.

However, the SFJ group was declared an ‘Unlawful Association’ by the Government of India in 2019. One of the ‘designated individual terrorists’ declared by GOI, Pannun has been actively exhorting Punjab-based gangsters and youth over social media to fight for the cause of the independent state of Khalistan, challenging the sovereignty, integrity, and security of the country.

Last year in September, Pannun asked the Hindu – Canadians to leave Canada amid tensions that erupted after the diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

However, the Ministry of External Affairs has raised concerns over the issue with the United States and the Canadian authorities.

Pannun is under the NIA’s radar since 2019 when the anti -terror agency registered its first case against him. Pannun is known for playing a major role in promoting and commissioning terror activities in Punjab and elsewhere in the country.

The NIA through its investigation has come across that SFJ was misusing cyberspace to radicalise gullible youth and to instigate them to undertake terrorist crimes and activities.

The rehearsals include marching by armed forces personnel to drumbeats, showcasing the discipline and precision that characterize the grand event.

The rehearsals on Kartavya Path, scheduled for January 13th to 16th, will witness traffic restrictions at key crossings, including Kartavyapath-Rafi Mar Crossing, Kartavyapath-Janpath Crossing, Kartavyapath-Man Singh Road Crossing, and Kartavyapath-C-Hexagon. The increased vigilance aims to enhance overall security preparedness for the upcoming national event.

Additionally, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2024 is set to see active participation from 2,274 cadets representing all 28 states and eight Union Territories. A total of 2,274 cadets from all 28 states and eight Union Territories are set to participate in the month-long event.
As the nation gears up for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Police and security agencies are actively engaging in mock drills at crucial installations and market areas. The objective is to enhance anti-terrorism measures and raise awareness among the public to stay vigilant.

In a demonstration of security preparedness on Thursday, Delhi Police East District carried out a mock drill at V3S Mall Nirman Vihar. The event saw the participation of teams from Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Traffic Police, Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Cats Ambulance, and SWAT Commandos.

India is set to mark its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024, commemorating the historic moment when the country formally transitioned into an independent republic with the enactment of the Constitution. The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is slated to visit India as the chief guest for the occasion.

“At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of France, will be visiting India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations,” the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed in a release on Friday.
Macron was invited to attend India’s January 26 Republic Day celebrations in 2024.
India and France share a high degree of convergence on a range of regional and global issues as strategic partners.

Notably, this is the sixth time a French leader will be the chief guest at Republic Day celebrations here in the national capital.
Before Macron, former French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac was the chief guest on India’s Republic Day celebrations in 1976 and 1998, as were former Presidents Valery Giscard d’Estaing, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Francois Hollande in the years 1980, 2008 and 2016, respectively.
This year, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Moreover, PM Modi was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade held on July 14, 2023, in Paris, the MEA stated.
He had visited France at the invitation of French President Macron.
“To mark the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership, a 241-member tri-service Indian armed forces contingent led by a military band also participated in the Parade,” the PMO said in a statement.

During the parade, the Indian military contingent marched to the patriotic tune of ‘Sare Jahan Se Accha,’ while a squadron of Indian Air Force (IAF) Rafale fighters participated in a flypast over the Champs-Elysees at the Bastille Day Parade. Rafale Jets of the Indian Air Force, from the 101 Squadron from Hashimara, formed a part of the flypast during the parade.
Meanwhile, French President Macron also visited India in September this year to attend the G20 Summit which was held under India’s Presidency.

President Macron and Prime Minister Modi held a bilateral meeting in Delhi on September 10, on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Following the meeting, PM Modi said they reaffirmed their commitment to take India-France relations to newer heights of progress.
India and France cooperate closely in various sectors, including defence, space, civil nuclear, trade, investment, education, culture and people-to-people ties.

Amid the tussle between the Governor and the elected government Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has invited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his ministers, and 10 MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party for a meeting on Friday.

Since 2013, the Aam Aadmi Party has formed the government there has been seen a rift and tussle between the Governor of Delhi and the Arvind Kejriwal Government.

Earlier last week AAP had held a protest march to LG Saxena’s doorstep regarding the proposal to train Delhi government school teachers in Finland.

Meanwhile, the protest was attended by CM Kejriwal and all his ministers and MLAs as the Lieutenant Governor had objected to the proposal of sending a teacher to Finland for training.

Ahead of Republic Day Delhi CM attended the ‘at home’ function of the Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday where they were seen warmly greeting each another during the function. The function was attended by many politicians from BJP and other parties.

After this Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that L-G Saxena had put up queries as a way of canceling the trip on which the Lieutenant Governor’s office denied all the claims and said they had advised a cost-benefit analysis.

Taking to Twitter Lieutenant Governor’s office tweeted, “The LG has not rejected the proposal of a training program for Primary-in-charges in Finland. Any statement, on the contrary, is misleading and mischievously motivated.”

Taking part in the protest march on 16 January CM Kejriwal questioned LG Saxena and asked, “It’s a government elected by Delhi’s people. It’s Delhi taxpayers’ money. For the education of Delhi’s. What problem does the LG have?”

However, in the assembly also this issue was raised when CM Kejriwal said, ‘Who is this LG? He is sitting on our heads. Who is he to decide how our children should be educated? These people have let our children stay uneducated. The LG doesn’t have the power to stop us. Nothing is permanent in life. We may be in power at the Centre tomorrow, with our LG. Our government will not harass people.”

The pious stretch that we knew as Raj Path not only witnessed its first parade as Kartvya Path but it was also the first time that a military contingent of another nation marched on the coveted path.
