</excerpt>

Shantanu Naidu, commonly known as Ratan Tata’s right-hand man and also a general manager at Tata Motors, was recently awarded the title of ‘Social Impact Leader of the Year’ at a Google for Education event.

The Viksit Bharat 2047 – Google Education Summit 2025, organized in the Google office, was designed to highlight people making a difference in education and social causes. Naidu’s meaningful work did this justice, sharing the dais with Aman Gupta, Suniel Shetty, and Raj Shamani.

Shantanu’s Touching Note

After the event, Naidu posted a beautiful post through @socktalks.tv on Instagram with the words, “The short story is, tiny award, took Amma with me, made a bunch of inspiring friends.” Having originated from a five-generation-long serving family of the Tata Group, he is most renowned for his dependable work with Ratan Tata.

Naidu also commented on India’s entrepreneurial fervour for nurturing young entrepreneurs, stating, “I never thought the force behind school-based entrepreneurs would be so passionate in India. And obviously there are some ludicrously inspirational people here who are willing to get their sleeves rolled up.”

The entrepreneur, with a deep-rooted connection to Tata, is set to inherit Rs 500 crore. Here’s everything you need to know about him.
</excerpt>

The corporate community was curious about Ratan Tata and Mohini Mohan Dutta, his unidentified successor. Mr. Dutta, an unidentified figure in the Tata business, received about Rs 500 crore from the late former chairman of the Tata Group, who passed away on October 9, 2024.

While the will recognizes Mr. Dutta as one of the beneficiaries of the fortune of Mr. Tata, legal formalities need to be completed before it is transferred to the assets. The process involving probate and certification by the High Court is likely to take at least six months.

Mohini Mohan Dutta & Tata Story

Jamshedpur-based entrepreneur Mohini Mohan Dutta played a key role in the expansion of Tata Group. He was a co-owner of Stallion, which later merged with Tata Services. Before the merger, Mr. Dutta had an 80% stake in Stallion, while Tata Industries owned the remaining 20%.

At Ratan Tata’s funeral, Mr. Dutta recalled details of their first meeting, which took place in Jamshedpur when he was just 24 years old. Though he never made much of a public presence, Tata insiders confirm that Mr. Dutta had a decades-long association with the family.

“He helped me out and built me up,” Mr. Dutta had said in earlier interviews, speaking about his relationship with Mr. Tata.

Reports says that Mr. Mohini had been associated to Mr. Tata for around more than 6 decades. He was also called to Ratan Tata’s big birth anniversary celebration at NCPA in Mumbai—a personal event by Tata family.

Mr. Dutta’s daughter also had close relations with Tata Group. She was working at Taj Hotels till 2015 and then joined Tata Trusts for which she has remained an employee till 2024, according to a report by Fortune.

Tata’s Will

Ratan Tata’s vast fortune was divided in his will, which was made public two weeks following the visionary’s passing. His brother, half-sisters, long-time employees, and Shantanu Naidu, his executive assistant, are among the beneficiaries.

An interesting inclusion to the will was unlimited care for Mr. Tata’s cute dog called Tito. Meanwhile, the stakes in Tata Sons were shifted to the Ratan Tata Endowment Trust.

Some of Mr. Tata’s possessions included a beach bungalow in Alibaug, a two-story house in Juhu, fixed deposits exceeding Rs 350 crore, and his stake in Tata Sons.

What Next for Dutta?

As legal procedures are followed, the business fraternity waits to see how Mohini Mohan Dutta would respond to this inheritance. Being an old friend of Ratan Tata and Tata Group, he could be at the forefront of a much more prominent role in India’s biggest conglomerate’s legacy than everyone has imagined so far.

</excerpt>

Shantanu Naidu is appointed as General Manager and Head of Strategic Initiatives, Tata Motors. He has shared this news with his LinkedIn followers by sharing how much he feels for this latest chapter in his career.

Naidu recalled his childhood memories, saying, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as General Manager, Head – Strategic Initiatives at Tata Motors! I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him in the window. It comes full circle now.”

His promotion marks a significant milestone in his career, solidifying his place within one of India’s leading automotive companies. Naidu’s story is a reflection of dedication, hard work, and deep connections with the Tata legacy.

Educational and Career Journey of Shantanu Naidu

On his LinkedIn profile, Naidu says that he completed his engineering education at Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014 and earned an MBA at Cornell University in 2016. He took a defining turn in his career working as an assistant to Ratan Tata, the former head of the Tata Group, in 2018. The public attention towards their bond increased quickly after a heartwarming video in which he sang a birthday song for Tata became viral.

A professional design engineer, Naidu in 2014 created a technology that aimed at saving the lives of street dogs from speeding cars. It soon caught the eye of the pet-loving billionaire, Ratan Tata, who financed the project and later turned into a mentor as well as close friend.

Naidu did not stop at writing about his association with Tata Group. He published a book titled I Came Upon a Lighthouse, a lighthearted and personal account of his friendship with Ratan Tata. The book delves not just into the success of Tata’s business, but also his personality and adventures.

Goodfellows and Tributes to Ratan Tata

Naidu 2021 founded a startup called Goodfellows to assist the elderly population of India. When Ratan Tata decided to retire and sell off the stakes, Naidu would leave in the will waived off the education loan Naidu had.

Ratan Tata died on 9th October 2024, at 86 years. Naidu had shared a emotional tribute to his mentor on the social networking website LinkedIn saying that “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price to pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse.

The bakery focuses on famous personalities, with this year’s tribute featuring Tata and his dogs, Tito and Goa.
</excerpt>

Aishwaryaa’s Bakeries in the Tamil Nadu bakery created an edible tribute to industrialist Ratan Tata. A tribute has come for Tata’s love of animals. This Christmas the bakery will craft edible sculptures of famous personalities. Their focus is Tata and his dog. Tata was the ex-chairman of Tata Group, who left the world on October 9, 2024. He was 86 years old. Tata had been an animal lover; there have been two dogs in his household, namely Tito- German Shepherd and Goa -the stray dog he befriended during his tours. Tito and Goa attended his funeral.

Aishwaryaa’s Bakeries has created a life-size ice cake sculpture featuring Tata in a blue shirt and grey trousers shaking hands with Tito, who holds a ball in his mouth. The nearly seven feet long statue is put on display in a glass case outside the bakery. Made from “60 kg of sugar and 250 eggs,” the sculpture is a reflection of Tata’s love for animals, especially his favourite dog Tito. It will be on display throughout the Christmas season.

The video of the tribute went viral on social media, garnering more than 1.4 lakh views and 80,000 likes on Instagram. While many praised the efforts of the bakery, some viewers made light of the dog’s expression, with one remarking, “Nice tribute but the doggo looks flabbergasted,” while another found the dog “a bit scary.

The tribute comes shortly after Ratan Tata’s passing on October 9, 2024. Known for his compassion and love for dogs, Tata’s bond with animals was an integral part of his life.

The statue features:

Ratan Tata in a blue shirt and grey trousers.

A German Shepherd holding a ball in its mouth, shaking hands with Tata.

This artistic homage not only celebrates Tata’s professional legacy but also his personal warmth and affection for his furry companions.

Crafting the Masterpiece

Aishwarya Bakeries, famous for its annual tradition of creating edible sculptures, poured their hearts into this project.

Ingredients Used:

250 eggs.

60 kilograms of sugar.

Artistic Process:
The intricate design and lifelike details attracted crowds who eagerly posed with the stunning creation.

Social Media Reactions

The statue became a sensation online, with users sharing their thoughts:

“Nice tribute, but the doggo looks flabbergasted,” commented one user.

Another remarked, “Good job, but who will eat this huge cake?”

The tribute sparked admiration nationwide, reflecting the bakery’s effort to immortalize Tata’s memory.

Ratan Tata: A Legacy of Love and Leadership

Beyond his professional milestones, Ratan Tata’s deep affection for animals was legendary.

Notable Story:
Tata once canceled a meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace to stay with his critically ill dog. Indian businessman Suhel Seth shared this story, quoting Tata: “I can’t leave him and come.”

This act epitomized Tata’s compassion, adding another layer of warmth to his illustrious legacy.

Speaking at a recent session in Bengaluru, Naidu highlighted the importance of reading in today’s fast-paced digital age. “Reading seems central to the human experience. However, it’s been sidelined. We’re so used to short Reels that even a 1:30-minute video feels long now,” he said, emphasizing the initiative’s mission to bring reading back to the forefront.

Naidu plans to extend Bookies to more Indian cities, such as Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Surat, making a nationwide reading culture an even greater reality.

Memorable Encounters

One of the poignant stories recounted by Bachchan involved a flight to London with Tata. Upon landing at Heathrow Airport, Tata realized he couldn’t find his aides. “He went into the phone booth to call,” Bachchan remembered with a smile. “After a while, he came out and approached me, and, I can’t believe that he said this – ‘Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call.’”

Another touching anecdote highlighted Tata’s modesty. Bachchan recalled a friend who was surprised to learn that Tata had requested a ride home. “Ratan Tata told my friend, ‘Can you drop me home? I just live behind your house,’” he shared. “Ratan Tata saying, ‘I don’t have a car’ – can you imagine that? It’s unbelievable.”

A Professional Connection

Bachchan also noted his professional ties to Tata, revealing that Tata Infomedia Ltd financed the film Aetbaar, which starred Bachchan. Despite the film’s underwhelming box office performance, resulting in a reported loss of around ₹3.5 crore for the Tata group, Bachchan remembered Tata’s support fondly.

Mourning the Loss

Amitabh Bachchan was among the first to publicly mourn Tata’s passing. He expressed his sorrow on X, stating, “Just came to learn of the passing of Shri Ratan Tata … An era has ended—a most respected, humble yet visionary leader of immense foresight and resolve. Spent some wonderful moments with him during several campaigns we were involved in together. My prayers.”

Ratan Tata’s funeral, held in Mumbai on October 11, drew many notable attendees, including cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Home Minister Amit Shah, and industrialist Mukesh Ambani, among others. Bachchan’s heartfelt reflections serve as a testament to the profound impact Tata had on those who knew him.

The will reportedly specifies that Tata’s assets—including a 2,000 square-foot beach bungalow in Alibaug, a Juhu Tara Road residence, and fixed deposits exceeding Rs 350 crore—will be distributed among beneficiaries, with a large portion dedicated to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF). This foundation will also inherit Tata’s 0.83% stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the $165-billion Tata Group.

Shantanu Naidu’s Unique Bond with Ratan Tata

Naidu, a Pune-based professional, formed a close bond with Tata over their shared love of animals, especially dogs. Their connection eventually led Naidu to work for Tata in his private office, the Office of RNT. Beyond his daily responsibilities, Naidu launched several social impact initiatives, notably Goodfellows—a companionship service for seniors started in 2022—which Tata personally attended despite his declining health.

Ratan Tata’s Personal Estate

Among Tata’s personal assets is the Halekai house in Colaba, managed by Ewart Investments, a subsidiary of Tata Sons. The future of this residence, where Tata lived until his passing, will be determined by Ewart. The fate of the Alibaug property, also designed by Tata, remains uncertain. Tata’s Juhu beachside house, inherited from his father Naval Tata, has been closed for over two decades with plans for a sale underway.

Tata’s collection of 20-30 luxury cars, stored at Halekai and the Taj Wellington Mews apartments, may either be acquired by the Tata Group for display in its Pune museum or auctioned off.

Despite his pivotal role in Tata Group, Ratan Tata was not listed among the wealthiest due to his limited personal holdings in group companies. His will is anticipated to undergo probate in the Bombay High Court, a process that may span several months.

Tata’s estate is estimated to exceed ₹10,000 crore and also allocates assets for his half-sisters, Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, as well as for household staff and others. His decision to ensure his pet’s welfare is notable, particularly within the context of wealthy individuals in India.

Tito, adopted five or six years ago, shares his name with Ratan Tata’s previous dog. He will be cared for by Tata’s long-time cook, Rajan Shaw.

Additionally, Tata’s will makes provisions for his butler, Subbaiah, with whom he had a relationship spanning three decades. Tata was known to buy designer clothing for both Rajan and Subbaiah after his trips abroad.

Tata’s mentee and executive assistant, Shantanu Naidu, is also mentioned in the will. Tata relinquished his stake in Naidu’s companionship venture, Goodfellows, and waived his education loans, as noted by The Times of India.

Among Ratan Tata’s assets are a 2,000-square-foot beach bungalow in Alibaug, a two-story house on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai, fixed deposits surpassing ₹350 crore, and a 0.83 percent stake in Tata Sons, the holding company of the $165 billion Tata Group.

In line with tradition, his stake in Tata Sons will be transferred to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF), a charitable trust.

His will will undergo probate by the Bombay High Court, a process expected to take several months, according to The Times of India.

Known for his philanthropy, love of animals, and sharp business acumen, Ratan Tata passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86.

</excerpt>

Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata’s stepbrother, Noel Tata, was recently appointed chairman of both key Tata Trusts following Ratan Tata’s passing. This appointment grants Noel significant authority over the entire Tata group. However, he is ineligible to take on the chairmanship of Tata Sons, the entity that governs all other Tata companies.

Ongoing Challenges for Noel Tata

Tata Sons controls more than a dozen companies within the Tata Group, making its leadership position critical. This isn’t the first instance of Noel Tata encountering hurdles in his pursuit of the Tata Sons chairmanship. In 2011, when Ratan Tata stepped down, there was considerable speculation that Noel would assume the role, but it ultimately went to Cyrus Mistry, Ratan Tata’s brother-in-law. Similar rumors arose in 2019 and 2022 when Noel became a trustee of two significant Tata trusts, but he still did not secure the chairmanship of Tata Sons.

Ratan Tata’s Rule

In 2022, under Ratan Tata’s guidance, a rule was implemented that prohibits the same individual from holding both the chairmanship of Tata Trusts and Tata Sons. Since Noel Tata currently chairs the Tata Trusts, he is barred from becoming the chairman of Tata Sons.

Impact of the Separation of Roles

The significance of Tata Sons is underscored by its substantial stakes in all companies within the Tata Group, which makes its chairmanship extremely influential. This separation of roles, established by Ratan Tata, is intended to prevent any single individual from wielding excessive power within the group.

Following the sad passing of Shri Ratan Tata, his culinary preferences have come into the spotlight.

A Tribute to Ratan Tata

Ratan Naval Tata, a distinguished industrialist and philanthropist, and former chairman of Tata Sons, passed away at 86. Known for his dedication and simplicity, Ratan Tata had a fondness for traditional Parsi dishes, one of which is the iconic ‘lagan nu custard.’

What is Lagan Nu Custard?

Lagan nu custard is a delightful Parsi dessert popular at weddings and served during Navjote ceremonies. This dish can be easily prepared at home and features a rich blend of milk, nutmeg, vanilla essence, and cardamom. Some sources suggest that this pudding is inspired by British custard. Traditionally served as part of a meal with 7-11 courses, lagan nu custard is baked in large trays and has a silky-smooth texture, making it a perfect choice for festive feasting.

Recipe for Laganu Custard

You can recreate Ratan Tata’s favorite dessert at home with these simple steps and ingredients.

Ingredients:

1 liter full cream milk

1 tablespoon charoli

¼ whole nutmeg

5 green cardamoms

½ teaspoon vanilla essence

3 eggs

200 grams sugar

20 almonds

30 milliliters rose water

Method:

Step 1: Begin by boiling the milk in a vessel and reduce it to half its volume. Grate a quarter of the nutmeg and add it to the mixture, along with 10 almonds. Stir in the vanilla essence and mix well. Allow the milk to cool, then preheat the oven.

Step 2: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and combine them with the reduced milk mixture. Pour this egg-milk mixture into a greased baking tray and sprinkle the remaining nuts on top. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Step 3: To check if the custard is properly baked, use a toothpick. Once done, remove it from the oven and garnish with chopped nuts for an appealing presentation. Cut the custard into desired shapes and serve warm.

The establishment pays homage to Ratan Tata, the esteemed leader of the Tata Group, who passed away on October 9, 2024. This venture aims to honor Tata’s visionary leadership and philanthropic spirit, which have left a significant impact on both the industry and society.

The Bombay House restaurant aspires to elevate the Indian dining experience in Dubai, aligning itself with the core values of excellence, integrity, and innovation that characterized Tata’s legacy.
A Compassionate Legacy

Ratan Tata was well-known for his compassion, particularly towards animals. This commitment to kindness continues to resonate through the new restaurant’s mission.

To further honor Tata’s legacy, Bombay House has pledged to donate five percent of its profits to charitable initiatives in the UAE, specifically targeting cancer care and animal shelters. The man shared how, a few years ago, his friend was diagnosed with cancer. The cost of treatment was overwhelming, leaving them feeling hopeless. “We tried everything, visiting all the major hospitals, but the treatment costs were very high. Someone suggested we approach the Tata Trust, and to our relief, the treatment was completely free. After a year and a half of care, my friend recovered,” he explained.

An Act of Gratitude and Inspiration

Deeply moved by Tata Trust’s generosity and Ratan Tata’s legacy of helping those in need, the man said, “I also try to help others, but I can never match what they do. I consider Ratan Tata a god in real life—a true savior.”

His story struck a chord with many who believe that Tata’s philanthropy has touched countless lives. India lost its ‘Ratan’.” Many echoed the sentiment that Ratan Tata’s contributions to society have created an unbreakable bond with people across the country.

In the wake of the passing of Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata, a flood of misinformation began circulating on social media, particularly on WhatsApp, claiming that his beloved dog, ‘Goa,’ had died just days after his master’s demise. These rumors, widely shared on various platforms, suggested that the pet passed away in grief, striking a chord with many animal lovers. However, this claim has been debunked as entirely false. The dog is alive and well, as confirmed by reliable sources.

Mumbai Police Officer Debunks the Fake News

Sudhir Kudalkar, a senior police officer in Mumbai known for his advocacy for animal welfare, took it upon himself to verify the viral message regarding Goa’s alleged death. Kudalkar shared a widely circulated WhatsApp forward that read, “Sad news…Tata’s pet dog GOA DIES AFTER 3 DAYS OF HIS DEATH… That’s why they say dogs are more faithful to their masters than human beings.” Upon seeing the message, Kudalkar reached out to Shantanu Naidu, a close aide and friend of the late Ratan Tata. Naidu confirmed that the news about Goa’s death was untrue and that the dog was in good health.

Known for his incredible contributions to India’s industrial growth and charitable initiatives, Tata was also a dedicated animal lover. He adopted his dog, Goa, from the streets of Goa over a decade ago, during a visit to the state. His love for animals extended beyond his personal life—he recently built an animal hospital in Mahalakshmi, Mumbai, to care for stray and injured animals.

In touching scenes at Tata’s funeral, images of Goa mourning beside his master’s coffin moved many, adding an emotional layer to the tributes paid to the late industrialist. However, the false news of Goa’s death has caused confusion and distress, prompting the need for clarification.

</excerpt>

Ratan Naval Tata, the esteemed chairman emeritus of the Tata Group and a prominent figure in India’s industrial landscape, passed away late Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Tata, aged 86, led the Tata Group for over twenty years, elevating the salt-to-software conglomerate and enhancing its global presence. He received the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award and took his last breath at 11:30 PM.

In a poignant statement, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed profound grief over the loss of a visionary leader, mentor, and guide. “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” Chandrasekaran stated. He emphasized Tata’s unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation, which set a benchmark for the corporate sector.

Astrological Insights into Tata’s Legacy

In light of Ratan Tata’s passing, astrological analysis has become a valuable tool for understanding the cosmic influences that shaped his remarkable life. A titan in business, Tata’s legacy goes beyond corporate achievements, impacting humanitarianism and social initiatives.

Renowned astrologer and author Dr. Shanker Adawal, who has previously worked with the Tatas, has elaborated on how Ratan Tata’s horoscope reveals the potent celestial forces that guided his transformation from a global business magnate to a figure symbolizing humility and community service.

Sagittarius Ascendant

Tata’s journey is significantly influenced by his Sagittarius ascendant, which symbolizes an expansive vision, strong ethical standards, and an inherent desire for exploration. According to Dr. Adawal, this ascendant lays the groundwork for Tata’s adventurous spirit and his leadership style, which marries a global perspective with a firm ethical foundation.

Uttara Ashadha Nakshatra

A crucial factor in Ratan Tata’s astrological chart is Jupiter’s placement in the Uttara Ashadha Nakshatra. While Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn, this nakshatra, known as the “Universal Star,” amplifies his persistence and ethical governance. “Uttara Ashadha bestows Ratan Tata with the power of ‘Apah’ (Victory), enhancing his ability to overcome challenges with patience and unwavering dedication,” Dr. Adawal explained.

Gaj Kesari Yog in Dhan Bhava

Dr. Adawal points out the unique presence of Gaj Kesari Yoga in the second house (Dhan Bhava) of Tata’s chart. Traditionally linked to immense wealth and wisdom, this Yoga manifests distinctively in Tata’s horoscope. “Here, it accentuates his approach to wealth as a tool for societal good rather than personal gain. The placement of Moon and Jupiter forms a favorable Yoga that blesses the native with immense wealth and a charitable disposition, as seen through his leadership of the Tata Trusts and dedication to philanthropy,” noted the astrologer.

Rahu in Anuradha Nakshatra

Ratan Tata’s chart features Rahu in Scorpio, situated in the Anuradha Nakshatra. This placement, which is known for promoting innovation and transformation, is viewed as a catalyst behind Tata’s unconventional business decisions, such as acquiring global brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Corus Steel. Dr. Adawal notes that this planetary alignment fuels his forward-thinking strategies, often redefining corporate leadership boundaries in India.

Debilitated Jupiter’s Hidden Strength

Despite Jupiter’s traditional debilitation in Capricorn, its association with the Moon creates a powerful Neech Bhanga Raja Yoga in Ratan Tata’s astrological chart. According to Dr. Shanker Adawal, this not only neutralizes the debilitation but also enhances his stature and wisdom. “This rare Yoga brings unexpected success, and for Ratan Tata, it has translated into an ability to turn seemingly challenging ventures into successful endeavors,” he added.

Sun-Mercury-Venus Conjunction

One of the most influential astrological features in Tata’s chart is the conjunction of the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in the first house, forming the rare Budh Aditya Yoga. “Known as the ‘Lagna Adhipati’ conjunction, this rare placement amplifies his intellectual abilities, communication skills, and creative potential. The conjunction forms the powerful Budh Aditya Yoga, a hallmark of those who possess extraordinary talent and command in their field. This conjunction, along with Venus’s creative influence, gives him the knack for making strategic decisions that are both pragmatic and innovative,” Dr. Shanker Adawal noted.

Dr. Adawal tracks Ratan Tata’s life through significant planetary periods (Dashas). His Venus Mahadasha (1995-2015) is identified as a pivotal era of international acclaim and success. “Venus, ruling the eleventh house of gains and recognition, helped Tata achieve iconic status, particularly in the international business community,” he remarked.

His Moon Mahadasha (2015-2025) is noted as a phase focused on humanitarian efforts, reflecting the Moon’s nurturing qualities and furthering Tata’s philanthropic pursuits.

A Legacy Shaped by the Cosmos

Dr. Shanker Adawal’s analysis provides a compelling perspective on Ratan Tata’s life through astrology, unveiling the intricate cosmic influences that have shaped his leadership, innovation, and philanthropy. From establishing a business empire to embodying humility and social responsibility, Tata’s astrological blueprint illustrates how celestial alignments have played a crucial role in shaping his extraordinary legacy.

About Dr. Shanker Adawal

Dr. Shanker Adawal, holding a PhD in economics and management studies from Delhi University, has over 35 years of experience in senior corporate roles at companies like DCM, Modi Xerox, Tatas, Nortel, and Reliance Industries, primarily in telecom, energy, retail, and life sciences. He played a key role in Reliance’s telecom network rollout and has been involved in higher education. As the founder and President of Manavadhikar Samajik Manch (MASM), established in 1997, Dr. Adawal has advocated for human rights through legal, medical, and research initiatives. A passionate astrologer, he has authored 18 books on the subject.

</excerpt>

Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86, and tributes have been flooding social media since his demise. Industry leaders have shared their memories of the industrialist, while fans have reflected on his philanthropic acts. Among those paying tribute is Pakistani singer Zoheb Hassan, who wrote an emotional post on Facebook about his first encounter with Ratan Tata and his astonishment at visiting the home of “the most powerful industrialist of India.”

Hassan recounted a day when he received a call from Ratan Tata inviting him and his wife to record an album for CBS India, a music company. At the time, he had no idea he was speaking to Tata. A few days later, Tata met him for a face-to-face conversation, and Hassan described him as an “impeccably dressed” and “extremely soft-spoken man” with a “gentle smile.” He expressed his surprise upon realizing who Ratan Tata truly was.

The Singer’s Surprise at Ratan Tata’s Home

“After the launch of the album, he invited Nazia and me to his residence for dinner. We thought he probably lived in a palace. When we arrived, we were taken aback that the most powerful industrialist of India lived in such a humble abode. A small 2-bedroom flat, sparsely decorated. We met his sister, one servant, and an Alsatian whom he loved dearly. It was a simple dinner with a great man that I will never forget,” Hassan wrote.

He concluded his post by stating, “Mr. Tata was living proof that one can be an iconic #businessman and still be a true #gentleman. Dearly missed. RIP.” Along with his tribute, the singer shared a collage of throwback pictures.

Reactions on Social Media

Reactions from social media users have been positive. One Facebook user commented, “What a beautiful post,” while another said, “What a beautiful tribute for a great man. Thank you for sharing.” A third user shared, “Coming from you is such a great reminder to appreciate life’s moments with this Legend. Thanks,” and a fourth expressed, “Indeed he was a true gentleman as well as a kind and simple human being. He will be missed forever.”

Ratan Tata’s passing has left a significant void in India, and the widespread grief expressed by politicians, actors, musicians, and corporate leaders reflects the profound impact he had on the nation.

</excerpt>

When it comes to philanthropy in India, prominent industrialists like Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata, and Azim Premji are often highlighted. However, a closer examination reveals that the title of the world’s most generous donor belongs to Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group. During his lifetime, he contributed over Rs. 8.29 lakh, far exceeding the donations made by contemporary billionaires.

According to the 2021 EdelGive Hurun Philanthropists of the Century report, Jamsetji Tata topped the list with total donations amounting to US$102.4 billion (adjusted for inflation), while Bill and Melinda Gates ranked second with contributions of US$74.6 billion.

The Father Of Indian Industry

Born on March 3, 1839, Jamsetji Tata made a lasting impact on countless lives through his philanthropic efforts. His significant contributions, especially in healthcare and education, led to the establishment of institutions that have transformed millions of lives across India. Tata’s journey began in 1868 with the founding of the Tata Group, which has grown into India’s largest and most respected conglomerate, consisting of over 30 companies across 10 industries and boasting a strong global presence.

Philanthropy As A Family Tradition

Hailing from a Zoroastrian Parsi family in Gujarat, Jamsetji Tata fostered a culture of philanthropy and social responsibility within his family. His sons, Dorabji Tata and Ratanji Tata, continued this legacy, contributing not just to industrial growth but also to crucial social initiatives. The Tata family remains dedicated to charitable endeavors, particularly in education and healthcare.

Jamsetji Tata’s influence on these sectors has laid the groundwork for institutions that continue to benefit countless individuals. His visionary approach to using wealth for societal upliftment serves as a lasting inspiration for future generations. The Tata Group’s reputation for corporate social responsibility reflects its commitment to merging business success with societal welfare.

The Tradition Goes On…

From funding research centers to establishing medical facilities, Tata’s philanthropic efforts have significantly enhanced the quality of life for many. His belief in using wealth for societal betterment is a foundational principle of the Tata Group, which continues to prioritize social welfare initiatives.

While Jamsetji Tata’s philanthropic contributions remain unmatched, other Indian billionaires have also made significant strides in charitable giving. Azim Premji, founder of Wipro, has donated around US$22 billion (approximately ₹1.76 lakh crore), placing him among the world’s top philanthropists. Nevertheless, no individual comes close to matching the magnitude of Jamsetji Tata’s lifetime donations, ensuring his status as a symbol of philanthropy in India and beyond.

With this new role, Noel becomes the 11th chairman of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the sixth chairman of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust.

Noel is the son of Naval H. Tata and Simone N. Tata and is a half-brother to Ratan Tata. Previously, he served as a trustee of both the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which together possess a substantial 66% stake in Tata Sons, the holding company for the diversified Tata Group.

In the wake of Ratan Tata’s death, there has been increased attention on the leadership of the Trusts. As the largest public charitable foundation in India, the boards of Tata Trusts needed to appoint a new chairman from among the existing trustees, as Ratan Tata did not designate a successor before his passing.

Among those hit hardest by the loss was Shantanu Naidu, one of Tata’s closest confidants and a trusted member of his inner circle. Hours after Tata’s death, Naidu shared an emotional tribute, expressing the profound emptiness left by his mentor’s absence, vowing to spend the rest of his life trying to fill the void.

Naidu’s role in Tata’s final journey was emblematic of their deep bond. He was seen leading Tata’s hearse to the funeral venue on a motorcycle, visibly emotional but refraining from speaking to the media. Their relationship, which started over a shared love for animals, blossomed into one of deep trust and camaraderie.

From Employee to Close Friend: The Brooks Brothers Shirt Story

In his 2021 memoir, I Came Upon a Lighthouse: A Short Memoir of Life with Ratan Tata, Shantanu Naidu detailed how their friendship began, starting with a letter he sent to Tata. The book also highlights several personal anecdotes, one of which humorously revolves around a Brooks Brothers shirt.

Before heading to Cornell University for higher education, Shantanu Naidu requested a farewell meeting with Tata. Eager to impress, he purchased a shirt from the luxury brand Brooks Brothers, one he had noticed Tata wearing during their previous meetings. Naidu admitted that identifying the brand involved “a lot of squint-eyed staring at the logo.” Despite spending half of his month’s salary on the shirt, he confessed that it did not suit him, as he was feeling unwell at the time.

The shirt reappeared in Naidu’s story later when Tata discovered that Naidu had accidentally torn it. Displaying his characteristic generosity, Tata insisted on buying him a new one. When Shantanu Naidu tried to argue at the billing counter, Tata simply asked, “Can’t I give my friend a shirt?” encapsulating the warmth and humility that defined their relationship.

Ratan Tata Reflects on Taking Over Tata Group from JRD Tata

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of India’s largest conglomerates, shared insights into how he was chosen to lead the Tata Group in March 1991. In a 1997 interview on the show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Ratan Tata recounted the moment JRD Tata, who was then the head of the group, asked him to take over the reins of the company. JRD Tata was facing heart issues at the time and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai when he made the decision.

“We were together in Jamshedpur for an event, and I had to fly to Stuttgart for some negotiations. When I returned, I found out that JRD had suffered a heart problem and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital. He was there for about a week, and I visited him every day,” Ratan Tata recalled.

The Moment JRD Asked Ratan Tata to Lead

Ratan Tata remembered a pivotal conversation with JRD Tata shortly after his recovery. He described how JRD called him into the office on a Monday after being discharged from the hospital. “He started the meeting as he always did, asking, ‘Well, what’s new?’ I responded, ‘J, I’ve been seeing you every day, so nothing new since I last saw you.’ Then he said, ‘Well, I have something new to tell you. Sit down.’ He went on to explain that his recent health issues had made him realize it was time to step down, and he decided that I should take his place,” Ratan Tata shared.

JRD Tata took the proposal to the board a few days later, and in March 1991, Ratan Tata officially became the Chairman of Tata Group.

An Emotional Moment for Tata Group

While Ratan Tata couldn’t remember the exact date of the board meeting, Simi Garewal suggested it took place on March 25, 1991. Ratan Tata reflected on how deeply moved everyone was during the meeting when JRD officially stepped down after leading the group for 40 to 50 years. “Many of my colleagues have said that it felt like history was being made that day. There was a lot of emotion, not just because he was stepping down, but because of the way he recounted his experiences. He reminisced about his journey with Tata, but never praised himself—just shared his experiences,” Ratan Tata said.

The transition marked the end of an era for Tata Group but also signaled the beginning of a new chapter under Ratan Tata’s leadership.

JRD Tata’s Influence on Ratan Tata

When asked about the lessons he learned from JRD Tata, Ratan Tata highlighted his mentor’s strong sense of justice and simplicity. “His value system, his humility, and his sense of fairness have stayed with me, and I hope to carry them forward, even if only half as well,” Ratan Tata expressed.

Ratan Tata’s Legacy

Ratan Tata, 86, passed away on Wednesday night after being in critical condition at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His passing has led to a resurgence of interest in his interviews, including the one where he detailed his rise to leadership. Ratan Tata’s legacy of business excellence, integrity, and philanthropy continues to inspire many, as the world reflects on his remarkable contributions to both industry and society.

</excerpt>

As the country mourns the death of one of its greatest sons, Ratan Tata, the people of Assam and the state government have also recalled the connection Ratan Tata shared with the region. Historically, the Tata Group was predominately known in Assam for its connection with the tea industry and for providing heavy-duty vehicles that carry goods in difficult terrains. However, Ratan Tata’s personal connection with Assam was beyond the business of things.
Ratan Tata’s Pivotal Role in Establishing Cancer Hospitals
Assam’s advancement towards cancer care was spearheaded by the state-of-the-art cancer facilities inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 28, 2022. In Dibrugarh, the inauguration was attended by Ratan Tata himself, whose vision was the biggest boost to establishing these hospitals.
Ratan Tata emphasized his personal commitment to improving healthcare, especially cancer care, in Assam. Speaking at the event, Tata stated, “I dedicate my last years to health,” expressing his deep connection to the project. His involvement through Tata Trusts has been instrumental in setting up these cancer hospitals, which aim to provide quality treatment to millions of people in Assam, a region where cancer is prevalent and often untreated due to limited facilities.
The Tata Trusts, under Ratan Tata’s leadership, partnered with the Assam government to build and operate these hospitals across multiple districts, including Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Jorhat, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Darrang, and Kokrajhar.
This initiative addresses a critical healthcare gap in the state, where access to cancer treatment was once a significant challenge. Ratan Tata highlighted how these facilities are a step forward in making cancer treatment accessible to all, regardless of their financial standing, stating that cancer “is not a rich man’s disease.”

As such in 2021, the Government of Assam conferred its highest civilian award, Assam Baibhav, to Ratan Tata for “his exceptional contribution towards furthering cancer care in Assam”.

Powering Assam with Semi-Conductors

PM Modi laid the foundation of three new semi-conductor plants on March 13. One of the semi-conductor plants has been setup in Jagiroad, Assam in partnership with the Tata Group. Ratan Tata had words of praise for the initiative and saw this initiative in chip manufacturing making Assam to be a major player in the semiconductor market. “The investments being made in Assam transform the state in complex treatment for cancer care. Today, the state government of Assam in partnership with the Tata group will make Assam a major player in sophisticated semiconductors. This new development will put Assam on the global map. We wish to thank the Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support and vision that has made all this possible,” posted Ratan Tata on X.

Taking to X, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his condolences. The CM further reflected on the legacy of Tata and the positive impact it had on the people of Assam. “For me it’s a personal loss. My every interaction with him left me wiser, the most recent being when I visited him in Mumbai to thank him for the Semiconductor project and having faith in Assam’s abilities as an industrial base. His simplicity and humility is something I will never forget. His death leaves a huge void which cannot be filled,” posted Assam CM on X.

Beyond the mainstream

Ratan Tata’s vision for the Northeast was unlike any other industrialist. His participation in the Northeast vis-à-vis his projects such as a 5-Star Hotel, Cancer Care Hospitals and a Semi-conductor plant were disruptors that brought the region to the mainstream. In his previous interactions to media, he emphasized the need to engage in the region by industrialists and encouraged businessmen to work beyond the profits.

</excerpt>

The passing of Ratan Tata has deeply impacted the nation, with many tech leaders sharing heartfelt tributes. However, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma’s tribute on social media platform X quickly became controversial, forcing him to delete the post after receiving criticism.

The Tribute That Sparked Backlash

On Wednesday, after the news of Tata’s passing, Vijay Shekhar Sharma posted his tribute to the late industrialist. In his message, he praised Tata as “a legend who will inspire every generation.” However, the closing line, “Ok Tata Bye Bye,” drew significant backlash. Many found the remark inappropriate and disrespectful, given the context of Tata’s death.

Users React to the Controversial Remark

Social media users were quick to criticize Sharma’s post. Comments like, “It must have been written by an intern,” and, “This is inappropriate,” flooded the post. Many felt that the tribute, especially the “Ok Tata Bye Bye” phrase, was tone-deaf. Amidst the backlash, Sharma promptly deleted the post, but screenshots of it continued circulating on X.

Ratan Tata’s Final Rites

In the wake of this social media controversy, Ratan Tata’s final rites took place with full state honors in Mumbai. Prominent figures, including Home Minister Amit Shah, attended the ceremony on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently at the ASEAN-India and East Asia summits in Laos. Modi had previously honored Tata, calling him “an extraordinary human being.”

A Reminder to Be Mindful on Social Media

This incident highlights the importance of being mindful when posting on sensitive topics, especially about respected figures like Ratan Tata. Sharma’s experience serves as a reminder that words matter, especially in times of national mourning.

</excerpt>

Ratan Tata, the renowned industrialist and philanthropist, was not only a towering figure in the corporate world but also a passionate advocate for animal rights. His deep love for animals, especially dogs, led to unique and heartwarming initiatives that reflected his care and concern for strays. From granting strays VIP access to the Taj Mahal Hotel to converting the Tata Group headquarters into a shelter, Ratan Tata’s compassion for animals knew no bounds.

Stray Animals Welcomed at Taj Mahal Hotel and Tata Headquarters

One of Tata’s notable acts of kindness towards animals was opening the doors of Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Hotel to stray animals. Under his directive, strays that wandered into the hotel premises were to be treated with respect and care. This news garnered widespread attention after an HR professional shared a photograph of a stray dog resting comfortably inside the hotel. The hotel’s staff later confirmed that Ratan Tata had issued clear instructions to treat all animals entering the hotel premises well.

Similarly, in 2018, Tata transformed the Tata Group’s headquarters, Bombay House, into a sanctuary for stray dogs. Following renovations, the headquarters included a designated space with controlled climate, comfortable cushions, and an access door, allowing strays to freely enter and exit. This initiative ensured that strays had a safe and welcoming environment, complete with good food, shelter from the elements, and regular health check-ups.

Skipping Buckingham Palace Event for Sick Pet Dog

Ratan Tata’s love for his own pets was equally evident. In 2018, he made headlines for skipping a prestigious event at Buckingham Palace, where he was set to receive a lifetime achievement award from Prince Charles for his philanthropic work. Tata declined the invitation, explaining that his pet dog, Tito, had fallen ill, and he could not leave him alone. This heartfelt decision highlighted Tata’s unwavering dedication to his pets, whom he considered family.

Earlier this year, on July 1, Ratan Tata inaugurated the Tata Trusts Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi area. The facility, which has a capacity of over 200 beds, is designed to provide advanced medical care for pets. The hospital is part of a Rs 165 crore initiative aimed at improving the infrastructure for pet healthcare in India.

Speaking about the project, Tata expressed his concern over the lack of facilities for pets in the country. “Pets are our family, and their lives matter to every pet parent,” he said. “When I looked around and saw the lack of infrastructure for pets in India, it made me wonder why, in such a large country with a significant pet population, we cannot have a facility that can save lives and make pets’ lives better.”

Ratan Tata’s legacy extends far beyond his business achievements. His unwavering commitment to animal welfare, from the stray dogs at Bombay House to the establishment of India’s first state-of-the-art pet hospital, reflects his deep compassion for all living beings. Though Tata passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86, his love for animals will continue to inspire future generations.

To so many, he was remembered well for the efforts done for many to improve the lives of so many through various initiatives.

During Aarti, people prayed for Tata’s soul, as was the nation’s grief. The place is sacred and at the same time peacefully serene and therefore not an unfavorable setting for such a pay reverence.

The occasion was a poignant reminder that the influence of Tata still remains strong in the business world and society, making his memory stay in the hearts of many for a long time.

The man is not only a businessman but an iconic personality whose commodities-be it Tata salt, pulses, or cars-have been a part of every Indian home. Ratan Tata has earned his name for bettering the business line according to the Indian people’s needs.

Ratan Tata has not been keeping well for long and was under treatment at the very famous Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His blood pressure had dropped drastically, and he was in a grave condition. According to reports, he was under the treatment of heart specialist. The medical team worked hard, but Ratan Tata’s condition did not ameliorate. Other complications set in, related to his old age.

Is Low Blood Pressure Really Destructive?

Doctors describe low blood pressure as values below 90/60. Often, the potential for either high or low blood pressure increases with age. The poor blood flow to such organs as the heart and brain of elderly patients is said to cause a wide range of problems.

In case the blood pressure is very low, the need is to see a doctor as early as possible. Some of the dietary and lifestyle adjustments one might be recommended to make are:

Consume a small amount of salt.

Hydrate by drinking adequate fluids.

Avoid alcohol and smoking.

Hydrate in case of a viral infection.

Exercising safely by stretching before standing and taking proper support in case of getting up from bed.

Other some other precautionary measures that may be taken into consideration follow:

Elevate the head of the bed.

Rest after meals

Limit exposure to hot water

Take small, frequent meals

Decrease carbohydrate intake

Limit heavy lifting, straining and standing around for long periods.
