He was arrested during the combined counter-infiltration operation initiated by the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF), on the basis of certain intelligence inputs.

According to defence officials, the infiltrators attempted to exploit the dense foliage and rugged terrain of Rajouri’s Gambhir region. Vigilant troops spotted suspicious movement involving four to five heavily armed men.

“During the follow-up operation, one of the persons—later found to be a guide helping with the infiltration—was successfully nabbed,” the official said. “The other four terrorists, who are suspected to be JeM members, are thought to have received injuries in a bid to escape and were compelled to withdraw across the LoC under the cover of dense vegetation and inclement weather conditions.”

Search Yields Pakistani Currency and Sensitive Materials

After the operation, the Army conducted a search in the region and recovered vital material such as a cell phone and Pakistani rupees, highlighting clear indications of cross-border terror activity associations.

During preliminary interrogation, Ahmed allegedly accepted being a citizen of PoK working on the orders of Pakistan Army officers at forward posts.

Over 200 people quarantined in Rajouri as mystery deepens

Over 200 individuals, who came in contact with the affected families of the 17 people who died due to the mysterious illness in Rajouri, have been quarantined as a precautionary measure, an official said on Thursday.

Four people, including three sisters, have been shifted to hospitals, with three airlifted to a hospital in Jammu.

Top health officials have identified a common factor among all those who lost their lives in Badhaal village as involvement of the brain and damage to the nervous system.

A mysterious illness that has claimed 17 lives, including 13 children, in Badhaal village of Rajouri district over the past month and a half, triggering a health crisis.

Meanwhile, the condition of a young patient, Ejaaz, airlifted to PGI Chandigarh, is reported to be stable.

“This is an alarming situation requiring urgent action,” said Dr. A. S. Bhatia, Principal of Government Medical College Hospital, Rajouri.

Local MLA and National Conference leader Javaid Iqbal Choudhary has called for the declaration of a medical emergency to curb the spread of the illness. “The government must act immediately to save lives and contain this outbreak,” he told reporters, urging the deployment of air ambulance services and better healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Authorities have declared Badhaal village a containment zone, sealing off the homes of affected families and imposing prohibitory orders on public and private gatherings. The containment measures have been divided into three zones:

Primary Zone: Homes of the deceased families, sealed under magistrate orders. Entry is strictly prohibited without official permission.

Secondary Zone: Families in close contact with the affected are under
continuous health monitoring.

Tertiary Zone: All families in the village, where communal dining has been banned, and arrangements for food and water are being made.

Over 200 individuals, including relatives and those who participated in hospital visits and burials, have been relocated to a quarantine centre at a nursing college and GMC hospital in Rajouri.

Officials have implemented strict security measures, fencing off the facility and monitoring its occupants. All individuals are screened before admission, and the aim is to break the chain of transmission.

A central team is investigating the outbreak, with over 230 samples sent to various institutes for analysis. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the police is probing the presence of neurotoxins found in the deceased, exploring potential criminal aspects. So far, more than 50 individuals have been questioned.

MLA Choudhary criticized the management of GMC Hospital in Jammu, alleging mismanagement in handling the patients. “The children who were shifted to GMC Jammu are in critical condition, while the one taken to PGI Chandigarh is stable. We demand all patients be shifted to Chandigarh,” he said.

Despite commending the efforts of the Rajouri district administration, police, and health department, Choudhary called for immediate intervention by higher authorities to address the crisis effectively.

J-K: Security increased in Rajouri following man shot dead

Arms, Ammunition recovered in Rajouri: J&K Security forces

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir discovered numerous rounds of arms and ammunition in the Thannamandi area of Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.

The Special Operations Group (SOG) Rajouri, in conjunction with 61 Rashtriya Rifles, conducted the search operation.

In the course of the search operation, the security forces recovered 1 packet of 1 kg IED, seven packets of half kg IED, two wireless sets, three magazines of AK47, one ammunition pouch, 102 rounds of AK-47, and one charger. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police dismantled a terrorist hideout in the Arnas area on Saturday, seizing a significant cache of arms and ammunition. Among the items recovered were two detonators, 12 cartridges of Assault Rifle, one pull-through, one hand-held Tape recorder IED Enabled, one calculator IED enabled, one battery, and several connecting wires, as per police reports.

During a collaborative search operation by the J-K Police, Army, and the CRPF on April 17, an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in a terrorist hideout in the Gursai top area of Poonch district.

Earlier, security forces uncovered arms and ammunition in a terror hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Saturday.

Officials stated that the hideout was dismantled during a collaborative operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army’s 58 RR in the Lancha area of Mahore sub-division in Reasi.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh departs from Delhi to visit Rajouri and Jammu to review security after terror attack

Today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh departed from Delhi to inspect security following the Poonch attack on army vehicles that resulted in the deaths of four jawans. Singh also visited Rajouri and Jammu. On Thursday of last week, heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles near Thanandi in the Rajouri sector, resulting in the deaths of four Army personnel and the injuries of three others. In anticipation of the visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, security has been stepped up in Jammu. The Indian Army is preparing to send more troops to the Poonch-Rajouri sector in order to counter the activities of Pakistani terrorists there, according to sources on Monday, in response to the recent uptick in attacks against its soldiers.

“An additional brigade-size formation had been moved into the area a few months ago. It is planned that another brigade will come there along with a few other units to support counter-terrorist operations,” sources in the Army informed ANI.
The move is expected to strengthen the counter-terrorist grid in the area and increase the confidence of the local population.
The local police have also strengthened their intelligence network and are expected to beef it up further.
The Army is also conducting a Staff Court of Inquiry against the 13-Sector Rashtriya Rifles Commander, who is a Brigadier, for the recurring lapses in operations in which the Army has lost many troops.

Mortal remains of two fallen soldiers remain home

The mortal remains of two army personnel, Naik Karan Kumar and Naik Virendra Singh, who lost their lives in a terrorist ambush on Thursday in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to UP’s Kanpur and Uttarakhand’s Chamoli, respectively, on Monday.
Naik Virendra Singh is a resident of Chamoli district, while Naik Karan Kumar is from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to two army personnel, Naik Virendra Singh and Rifleman Gautam Kumar, who lost their lives in a terrorist ambush on Thursday in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
CM Dhami also met the family members of the departed souls and consoled them for their irreparable loss.

Meanwhile, additional security personnel were deployed in the Poonch district on Monday, even as a search operation was ongoing in the forested terrain of Dera ki Gali, where two Army vehicles were ambushed by heavily armed terrorists from across the border last week. Four army personnel were killed and three others were injured on Thursday in the terror attack in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, on Sunday, the four fallen soldiers, Naik Birender Singh, Rifleman Gautam Kumar, Naik Karan Kumar, and Rifleman Chandan Kumar, were accorded a tearful senf-off at a wreath-laying ceremony in Rajouri.

A fierce encounter broke out after terrorists fired at two army vehicles passing through Dera Ki Gali in Rajouri’s Poonch region at 3.45 pm on Thursday.
“At around 3.45 pm on December 21, two Army vehicles carrying troops to the operational site came under fire by terrorists. The jawans returned fire immediately,” an Army official said.
“Our troops are in the process of intensifying the joint operation against terrorists underway in the area since last evening. The operations are taking place in the 48 Rashtriya Rifles area,” the official added.

The last week’s ambush attack on Thursday resulted in the deaths of four Army personnel and three injuries. The four fallen soldiers, Naik Birender Singh, Rifleman Gautam Kumar, Naik Karan Kumar, and Rifleman Chandan Kumar, received a moving send-off at a wreath-laying ceremony in Rajouri on Sunday.

The Indian Army said on Saturday that it was conducting an inquiry into the deaths of three civilians in the Poonch-Rajouri sector, where terrorists carried out the ambush attack on the forces.
Taking to X, the Indian Army posted, “Search operations by the security forces are continuing in the area of operations after the incident of December 21. Reports have been received regarding three civilian deaths in the area. The matter is under investigation.”

In response to the incident, a massive search operation was launched in densely forested areas, including nearby Thanamandi in Rajouri. Despite efforts, there has been no fresh contact with the fleeing terrorists as of now.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, three individuals, initially detained by the Army for questioning in connection with the attack, died mysteriously on Friday. The deceased were identified as Safeer Hussain (43), Mohd Showket (27), and Shabir Ahmad (32) of Topa Peer village in Bufliaz. The cause of their deaths is currently under investigation, with their bodies handed over to their families for last rites. J-K: Search operation in progress at Rajouri terror attack site

Security officers searched Dera ki Gali, a forest area in the Rajouri district, early on Friday morning after two Army vehicles were ambushed by terrorists with heavy weapons. In Thursday evening’s terror attack, three Army personnel were injured and four were killed. In Thanamandi, Rajouri, two Army vehicles carrying troops were ambushed by the terrorists.

“The terrorist opened fire on two Army vehicles carrying troops as they were being moved to the operational site on December 21 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Our troops responded to the fire right away,” an Army official stated. J-K Police Arrests Alleged Rohingya ‘Facilitator’ in Rajouri

The Jammu and Kashmir police arrested Lal Din from Rajouri district for allegedly aiding a Rohinga woman in obtaining documents. The woman is currently residing in Narwal Bala, Jammu. Lal Din, a resident of Kampla Mohra, Rajouri, was apprehended in the Laam area of Nowshera. The police revealed that a criminal case was registered under FIR No. 215/2023 at PS Nowshera, citing offenses under Indian Penal Code Sections 420, 467, and 14 of the Foreigners Act.

The investigation follows the October 19 arrest of Haleema, a Myanmar resident. Despite the fact that she was released by the court on October 30, Lal Din’s arrest represents an ongoing effort to investigate the case further. According to the police release, during a search of Lal Din’s home, law enforcement seized significant documents with evidentiary value.

5 Army personnel killed in encounter with militants in J&K in Rajouri

“Three more soldiers who were injured earlier have unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. A total of five soldiers have lost their lives in the joint operation in Rajouri, J&K,” said the officials.

Security personnel and militants engaged in gunfire early on Friday in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir’s Kandi neighbourhood.Jammu Mukesh Singh, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), informed the sources that an encounter had begun in the Kandi neighbourhood of Rajouri. In an encounter between militants and security personnel on Thursday in Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, two terrorists were neutralised. The encounter broke out earlier in the day in the Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla.

The police recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK 47 rifle and one pistol. “Two terrorists neutralised in Baramulla encounter. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 AK 47 rifle and one pistol recovered,” informed Kashmir Zone Police.

As per initial reports, a group of terrorists are trapped in the area. There is a likelihood of casualties in a terrorist group.

Security forces recover IED in Rajouri

The Security forces on Wednesday recovered IED in Rajouri. The entire area has been cordoned off. Earlier on Tuesday, an encounter took place in which security forces killed two terrorists in Budgam, Jammu, and Kashmir. Moreover, both terrorists have been identified as LeT cadres: Arbaaz Mir and Shahid Sheikh of Pulwama. Both terrorists had escaped from a recent encounter. J&K: NIA to investigate twin terror attacks in Rajouri; say Amit Shah

Days after terrorists killed civilians in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and said National Investigation Agency (NIA) will investigate the twin terror attack. where Shah chaired the security review meeting at Raj Bhavan.

Addressing the media Home Minister Amit Shah said, “I have spoken to all the seven families of the deceased over the phone. I was about to go there myself to meet them but today we could not go there due to the weather. I have listened to their words very carefully and I have also spoken to Lieutenant Governor Manoj ji. The courage of those who lost their lives is an example for the country”.

Home Minister Shah said, in the last one and a half years all incidents that have happened will be investigated.

“Government of India has given the investigation of both incidents which took place over the course of 2 days, to NIA. NIA and Jammu Police will together investigate it. All the incidents that have happened in the last one and a half years will be investigated,” Shah said.

Union Home Minister Amit reached Rajouri on Friday where he was supposed to meet the families of victims but was unable to make it. Shah promised to meet them on his next visit. Home Minister Amit Shah also chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu and Kashmir’s Raj Bhavan.

“A detailed discussion has been held with all the aspects of the security agencies and all kinds of agencies involved in the security of Jammu and Kashmir. Preparations will be made to make a very secure grid in the coming days. Be it BSF, CRPF, Army, or Jammu, and Kashmir Police, all are ready,” Shah stated.

Meanwhile, Home Minister further said, at the meeting the creation of forming 360 security cycle was discussed.

“All aspects ranging from the support system of terrorist groups were discussed. Creating a complete 360 security cycle was discussed. All our information agencies have also been talked to,” Shah said.

Moreover, over the phone Saroj Bala, the Mother of the attack victims talked with Amit Shah and assured him that they will meet her on his next visit.

“Union HM Amit Shah interacted with us over a phone call. He assured us to visit us during his next visit. I lost my both sons during the Dhangri attack and I urged him to provide us justice and a tight answer to their killers,” Saroj Bala said.

Earlier on 1 and 2 January in two separate terrorist attacks, seven civilians were killed including two children in Upper Dangri village in the Rajouri district.

On 1 January gunmen fired indiscriminately on three houses of Hindu residents in which four people were gunned and after that, in a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast two children were killed.

Earlier in the day, J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha received the Union Minister Shah at the airport.

However, the visit of the Home Minister Shah comes 12 days after militants killed six civilians including two children at Upper Dhangri village in Rajouri district.

Amit Shah to visit J&K on 13 January; to meet families of victims

Rajouri terror attack: Civilian succumbs to injuries, toll reaches seven.

Injured in one of the two separate firing incidents that took place that took place in the Dhangri area of the Rajouri district, one more civilian succumbed to his injuries, taking the total toll to seven.

The Union Home Ministry had issued an order to deploy an additional 18 CRPF companies to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the civilian killings in the two terror attacks in the Rajouri district.

CRPF jawans arrive in Rajouri’s Upper Dangri village

Following the killing of 6 civilians in a terror attack on 1 January in Upper Dangri village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri the Central Reserve Police Force jawans have arrived for deployment.

Earlier on 1 January to boost security in the area deployment of forces was demanded by the Dangri village.

Meanwhile, in the wake of recent killings of civilians in two fresh terror attacks, an additional 18 companies have been deployed by the Home Ministry.

Dheeraj Sharma Sarpanch of the Upper Dangri village thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Centre for the quick action and also for deploying the forces.

“We demanded security and LG said our security-related demands would be met within 7 days. We thank LG and Centre for their quick action. There was an atmosphere of fear in our village. The moral of the villagers would boost with the deployment of the companies,” Sharma said.

“The police have become more active after this incident. The first company of CRPF has come,” Sharma stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Home Ministry issued an order for the deployment of 18 CRPF companies – approximately 1,800 personnel in the Poonch and Rajouri districts.

After a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Rajouri’s Upper Dangri village on Monday, a child was killed and five others injured.

In the area, ADGP Mukesh Singh cautioned people as another suspected IED was spotted which is about eight kilometers from Rajouri town.

Since Sunday evening in the two terror attacks by the terrorists, a dozen people were reportedly injured and are being treated in Jammu hospital.

However, Manoj Sinha Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh and a government job for the people who died in the firing incident.

“An ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh and a government job would be given to the next of kin of each of those civilians martyred in the dastardly attack. Seriously injured would be given Rs.1 lakh. Officials have been directed to ensure the best treatment to injured,” the Office of LG J-K said in a statement.

Furthermore, a team from National Investigation Agency (NIA) also visited the village.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team on Tuesday reached Upper Dhangri village where a terror attack occurred in which six civilians were killed.

Meanwhile, to attend the last rites of the six civilians killed a huge crowd gathered in Dhangri village on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday in the terror attack in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, six civilians were killed including a father-son duo. They were gunned down by terrorists on Sunday night in Dhangri village.

Moreover, on Monday an improvised explosive device (IED) went off around 9 am where two minors were killed and 12 were injured.

The Medical Superintendent of GMC Association, Rajouri said, “Six people are dead and 12 are under treatment in Rajouri in three Government Medical Colleges, Jammu.”

However, in the past two weeks, this is the third such incident in which civilians are killed after two people were killed outside an Army camp on 16 December.
