Raj Kundra Breaks Silence on Pornography Allegations After Three Years

Businessman Raj Kundra, who has been at the center of a controversy involving allegations of pornography production, finally broke his silence on the matter after three years in an interview with ANI.
Kundra, who had remained quiet amid intense media scrutiny, emphasized the importance of speaking out when his family was implicated in the controversy.
“Silence is bliss,” Kundra began, explaining why he had refrained from addressing the public allegations until now.
“But when it comes to family and when family members are involved, I feel I should come out and speak. When I stay quiet, people think I’m hiding something. And people should realize the truth,” he said.
Kundra firmly denied allegations that he was involved in any production of pornography. He clarified that he had provided technological services to his brother-law’s company that hosted an App that showcased bold but non-pornographical content in the UK.
“Till date, I have not been a part of any pornography, any production, nothing to with porn at all. When this allegation came to light, it was very hurtful. The reason the bail happened was because there were no facts or evidence to this. I know I have not done anything wrong. As far as running an App is concerned, there was a listed company in my son’s name and we used to provide technology services. We provided technology services to my brother-in-law’s company Kenrin, in which he had launched an App running from the UK, it was bold for sure, it was made for the older audience, these were A-rated films but they were not pornographic at all…As far as my involvement is concerned, it is purely been a technology provider…Let a girl come forward who says that I have met Raj Kundra or worked in any of his movies, or has Raj Kundra ever produced any movie…Media says Raj Kundra is the kingpin of all 13 Apps, I am involved in the participation of software technology only and nothing wrong was being run in that App,” he said
Kundra, has consistently maintained his innocence. He expressed full confidence in the judicial process, having spent three years fighting for his discharge from the case.
“I have full faith in the judiciary,” Kundra stated, adding, “If I’m guilty, charge me; if I’m not, discharge me.”
Reflecting on the ordeal, Kundra recounted the 63 days he spent in detention following his arrest by the Mumbai police.
While he was held in a detention centre rather than a full-fledged jail, Kundra emphasized the emotional toll of being away from his family during this time. “Being away from my family and fighting in court was difficult,” he admitted. “But I am confident I will win this case because I know I didn’t do anything wrong. ”
“After being kept in detention for 63 days, being granted bail would not have been possible if there was any truth to the matter. I thank the judiciary system for that. It restored my faith, a little,” he said, adding, “I am confident that I will win this case because I know I didn’t do anything wrong. But those 63 days, the damage to my reputation, and the allegations against my family will never be undone. The respect we lost will never come back. But I have to keep fighting, and I’m hoping that after all this, justice will be served and the truth will come out,” he added.
Kundra also claimed that it was a business rivalry that had escalated into a personal attack on him..
“Once, while I was in PC, someone came to me in the middle of the night and said, ‘Why did you get into a fight with him?’ That’s when I realized who had plotted this against me,” he claimed.
Kundra revealed that he had written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), providing names of individuals he believed were behind the conspiracy to damage his reputation. Although he refrained from calling out the names publically he also expressed hope that those responsible would be held accountable.
“Karma will be served. Justice will be served,” he said.
Kundra is also facing scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged ongoing money laundering investigation.

Shilpa Shetty’s Lawyer Denies Reports of ED Raid

Social media reports claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s home. However, her lawyer, Prashant Patil, strongly denied these claims. He called the reports false and misleading.

“There have been reports in the media saying that my client Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been raided by the Enforcement Directorate. These reports are not true and are misleading. As per my instructions, there is no Enforcement Directorate raid on Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra as she has nothing to do with any offence of whatsoever nature,” Patil explained.

Investigation Focuses on Raj Kundra

Patil confirmed that the investigation targets only Raj Kundra. He also said that Kundra is cooperating fully with the authorities. “The case in question is an ongoing investigation regarding Mr Raj Kundra, and he is cooperating with the investigation for truth to come out,” he added.

Lawyer Warns Media Against Misrepresentation

Patil urged the media to stop using Shilpa Shetty’s name, pictures, or videos in connection with the case. He warned of strict action against those misusing her image. “I would request the electronic and print media to refrain from using the videos, pictures, and name of Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra as she has nothing to do with the case. Strict cognisance shall be taken against irresponsible journalism wherein the pictures or videos of Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra are shared on this matter,” Patil stated.

Actors Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband, Raj Kundra have filed a plea in the Bombay High Court against the notice issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for eviction of their residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area and a farmhouse in Pune. The notice was regarding a money-laundering case.

The bench comprising Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chavan heard their pleas on Wednesday. It issued a notice to the ED and put the matter for Thursday.

The couple’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, pointed out that Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra received the eviction notices only on October 3, while they had actually been issued on September 27. Notices “arbitrary and illegal,” said Patil, and he asked for quashing.

The pleas point out that there is no emergent requirement to evict the couple, who have lived on these premises for nearly two decades with their family of six members. The pleas seek relief on humanitarian grounds and pray for an order staying the eviction notices.

The ED had in 2018 filed a complaint against Amit Bhardwaj and others for a Bitcoin fraud, besides money laundering charges. While Shetty and Kundra are not accused in the case, the ED has summoned Raj Kundra for questioning multiple times, who has attended every time.

In April 2024, the couple was served with a notice related to the provisional attachment of the assets, including their Juhu residence, which was purchased in 2009 by Kundra’s father. The response was submitted on that notice, but later on September 18, 2024, the adjudicating authority of the ED confirmed the provisional attachment, saying that it would stay till the conclusion of the trial.

October 3 is the date the couple received eviction notices requiring them to leave their properties within ten days. Their petitions argue no eviction order can be issued prior to a conviction and that residence has no nexus with the crime committed.

Actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are facing serious allegations. A Mumbai court has asked the police to investigate a fraud case against them. The couple is accused of cheating an investor in a gold scheme.

The court’s order came after a complaint by Prithviraj Kothari, the managing director of Riddhi Siddhi Bullions. He claims that the couple company, Satyug Gold Private Limited, promised to deliver gold but did not keep their word.

Judge NP Mehta noted that there is enough evidence to investigate Shetty, Kundra, and all others involved. The Bandra Kurla Complex police station will now look into the case. They will register a First Information Report (FIR) under sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and criminal breach of trust.

According to Kothari, the couple launched a gold investment scheme in 2014. Investors were told to pay for gold at a discounted rate upfront with the gold promised to be delivered after a certain period. Kothari invested ₹90,38,600 in this scheme. He was supposed to receive 5,000 grams of 24-carat gold by April 2, 2019. However, Kothari says he never got the gold, even after the maturity date. Kothari has called the scheme “bogus” and accused Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra of conspiring to cheat investors. The police will now investigate these serious allegations.

Raj Kundra’s Cryptic Post Amidst Multi-Crore Asset Seizure

Businessman Raj Kundra, whose assets were confiscated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) last night for ₹ 97.79 crore as part of an investigation into a Bitcoin ponzi scheme, posted a mysterious message late last night about maintaining composure.

The husband of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, Mr. Kundra, posted a picture of a roaring lion on Instagram Stories along with the caption: “Learning to stay calm when you feel disrespected is a different type of growth.”

Among the properties taken from them are equity interests belonging to Mr. Kundra, a residential home in Pune, and a residential unit in Juhu registered in Shilpa Shetty’s name.

The pair has denied having anything to do with the case. Their attorney stated in a statement yesterday that they believe a fair inquiry will be conducted and that there is no evidence against them.

“There is no prima facie case made out against my clients Mr Raj Kundra and Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra. I believe when we make our fair representation before the Honourable Enforcement Directorate, even the investigation agencies may grant justice to us. We have faith in the fair investigation,” Prashant Patil, their attorney, stated.

A Ponzi scheme is a type of investment fraud in which investors are seduced with claims of enormous returns at negligible or no risk. Rather than putting the money to use, the con artists use it to entice new investors and reimburse the original ones with the money from the more recent ones.

The current investigation concerns claims that Mr. Kundra got 285 bitcoins from the Ponzi scheme’s creator, which he planned to utilize to start a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. But the deal fell through, leaving Mr. Kundra with almost ₹150 crore worth of Bitcoins.

Mr. Kundra has previously been the subject of a police investigation. He was taken into custody in 2021 in connection with the creation and dissemination of pornographic videos. He was later granted bail by the Supreme Court.

ED provisionally attaches assets including a Juhu flat under Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s name and a Pune bungalow linked to Raj Kundra. Funds totaling ₹6,606 crore were allegedly funneled through nine companies for overseas property acquisition. ED acts under PMLA, 2002.

Businessman Raj Kundra’s legal problems are getting worse, and he’s ended himself in more serious difficulties. His assets, worth ₹97.79 crores, were provisionally attached by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday about its money-laundering probe into the purported ₹6,600 crores Bitcoin-based Ponzi scam. This has to do with Variable Tech Private Limited, a corporation established in Singapore. Raj Kundra is suspected by sources in the Enforcement Directorate of profiting from the case’s criminal gains.

The celebrity couple’s attorney, Prashant Patil, stated in a formal statement “We shall follow the due process of law and take necessary steps as prescribed under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to protect the liberty and property of my clients. On the face of it, there is no prima facie case made out against my clients Mr Raj Kundra and Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra. We have complete faith in the Honourable Judiciary.”

Additionally, the attorney stated, “I believe when we make our fair representation before the Honourable Enforcement Directorate, even the investigation agencies may grant justice to us. We have faith in a fair investigation. We stand committed to cooperate with the authorities as and when required.”

ED Seizes Raj Kundra’s Properties Worth Rs 97.79 Crore

According to an official, the Directorate of Enforcement has temporarily attached properties worth Rs 97.79 crore that belong to Raj Kundra by the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

The attached properties, as per the ED officials, consist of equity shares, a residential bungalow in Pune, and a residential flat in Juhu.

“Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Mumbai Zonal Office has provisionally attached immovable and movable properties worth Rs. 97.79 Crore belonging to Ripu Sudan Kundra, aka Raj Kundra, under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The attached properties include a Residential flat situated in Juhu presently in the name of Smt. Shilpa Shetty, a residential bungalow situated in Pune, and Equity shares in the name of Raj Kundra,” the ED stated.

The investigation by the ED was prompted by several First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by the Delhi Police and Maharashtra Police against Variable Tech Pte Ltd, Late Amit Bhardwaj, Ajay Bhardwaj, Vivek Bhardwaj, Simpy Bhardwaj, Mahender Bhardwaj, and several multilevel marketing (MLM) agents. It has been claimed that these individuals amassed enormous sums of money in the form of Bitcoins (worth Rs 6600 Crore in 2017 alone) from the credulous public under the pretenses of providing them with a 10% monthly return in the form of Bitcoins.

Investors were expected to receive enormous returns on their cryptocurrency holdings, and the gathered Bitcoins were meant to be used for Bitcoin mining. However, the promoters defrauded the investors, hiding the illicitly obtained Bitcoins in secret virtual wallets, according to the ED.

“ED investigation revealed that Raj Kundra received 285 Bitcoins from the mastermind and promoter of Gain Bitcoin Ponzi Scam, Amit Bhardwaj for setting up Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine. The said Bitcoins were sourced from proceeds of crime collected by Amit Bhardwaj from gullible investors. Since the deal didn’t materialise, Kundra is still in possession and enjoyment of 285 bitcoins, which are presently valued at more than Rs. 150 Crore, the ED stated.

Three people were taken into custody in this matter following several search operations that were conducted earlier: Simpy Bhardwaj on December 17, 2023, Nitin Gaur on December 29, 2023, and Nikhil Mahajan on January 16, 2023. According to the ED, they are all currently detained by the courts.

“The main accused, Ajay Bhardwaj and Mahendra Bhardwaj are still absconding. Earlier, ED had attached properties worth Rs 69 crore. The Prosecution Complaint in this was filed on 11.06.2019 and Supplementary Prosecution Complaint on 14.02.2024. The Hon’ble Special PMLA Court has taken cognizance of the same,” the ED stated.

Investigations are still being conducted further.

Chargesheet filed against Raj Kundra in Pornography case

In connection with the case of producing and streaming pornographic content, a charge sheet has been filed by the Mumbai Cyber Crime against businessman and Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra.

Meanwhile, over 1000 page charge sheet has been filed by the Mumbai Cyber Crime last week in the Esplanade court.

The advocate of Kundra Prashant Patil responded to the new charge sheet and that they will follow the legal procedure to collect the charge sheet.

“We have got to know from media reports that The Mumbai Cyber Crime has filed a charge sheet in the said matter before the court. We shall be present before the court to comply with the due process of Law and Collect a copy of the charge sheet,” Patil said.

“However, whatever allegations we could understand from the FIR and media reports, it can be safely concluded that my client has nothing to do with the said crime. There is no prima facie case made out against him. We shall follow the due process of Law and ensure that he gets justice,” Patil said.

Moreover, Raj Kundra’s advocate Patil said Kundra will approach the Courts to seek justice and protect his reputation and dignity.

Earlier on 19 July 2021 Raj Kundra was arrested with 11 other people in the alleged creation of pornographic films.

However, in Mumbai Court on 20 September 2021 Raj Kundra was granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000.

Furthermore, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and the Information Technology Act Kundra was arrested.

Raj Kundra writes to CBI claiming innocence in porn case

Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty’s husband, approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to claim his innocence in the pornography case in which he was arrested last year. Raj expanded on his letter to the central agency on Twitter and wrote, “A handful of corrupt individuals spoil the name of the whole organisation. It’s just a matter of time now! #CBI #Enquiry #mediatrial #truth #corruption.”

On one year of his bail in the same case, Raj Kundra had tweeted earlier, “One Year Today released from #ArthurRoad Its a matter of time Justice will be served! The truth will be out soon! Thank you, well-wishers and a bigger thank you to the trollers you make me stronger (folded hands emoji).” His posts were also accompanied by hashtags such as inquiry, word, media trial, and trollers.

According to reports, Raj Kundra claims that he was set up in the case by “senior officers of the Mumbai Crime Branch.” He has requested that the case be investigated. Raj allegedly claimed in his letter, “I have lived in silence for one year; ripped apart by a media trial and spent 63 days in Arthur Road Jail. I seek justice from the courts, which I know I will get, and I humbly request an investigation against these officers.”

Raj had previously filed an application with a Mumbai magistrate’s court to be released from the case. According to sources, police found no evidence that Raj gained any monetary or another type of gain from the alleged offence, and the prosecution has not attributed to him any intent to commit an offence, according to the application. Raj Kundra was arrested in the case in July 2021 and later released on bail after more than two months.
