AAP MP Raghav Chadha has called on the Central Government to initiate talks with Pakistan to establish a safe corridor to Shri Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Shri Guru Nanak Dev. Chadha emphasized the need for a hassle-free and cost-free pilgrimage for devotees.

“There should not be any mandatory requirement of passport, visa, and cumbersome forms for the devotees. Also, no fee should be charged from the devotees. A safe road passage should be created starting from Amritsar (Attari Wagah Border) till Shri Nankana Sahib in Pakistan,” said MP Raghav Chadha.

“You will be surprised to know that, in the first Lok Sabha, 26% of the people were less than 40 years old and the just-dissolved 17th Lok Sabha had only 12% people in that age group. So, as the country is getting younger, our elected representatives are getting older,” he added.

Rajya Sabha saw important discussions during Special Mentions today, with Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha calling for the return of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s 19th-century golden throne from the UK.

The throne, crafted by the esteemed goldsmith Hafez Muhammad Multani between 1805 and 1810, represents the opulence of Ranjit Singh’s court. Unlike typical European royal furniture, which is merely gilded, this throne is entirely covered in thick gold sheets and is richly adorned. Its base features a unique design with two tiers of lotus petals, a symbol of purity and creation in Hindu and Sikh traditions.

Historical Context:

The throne was seized by the British East India Company during their annexation of Punjab in 1849. Along with other treasures from the Sikh treasury, it was taken to London for display in the East India Company museum on Leadenhall Street. After the museum’s collection was dissolved in 1879, the throne was moved to the South Kensington Museum, now known as the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Raghav Chadha’s Appeal:

Chadha has urged the Indian government to negotiate with the UK for the throne’s return, which remains at the Victoria and Albert Museum. On X, Chadha stated, “Today in Parliament, I demanded the repatriation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji’s royal throne currently placed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I urged the Govt of India to press into service its diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom for the same.”

He further emphasized the significance of Ranjit Singh’s legacy, advocating for the inclusion of his values and contributions in school textbooks to educate students about his influential rule and principles of good governance.

Senior AAP member Raghav Chadha thanked the Supreme Court for granting interim bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday.

Meanwhile earlier on July 12, the apex court also called supreme court has given an interim bail to Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering matter in Delhi’s excise policy case.

The Bail was given on the grounds that Kejriwal has dealt with ‘incarceration of 90 days.’

But Arvind Kejriwal will stay in Tihar Jail, as he was detained by central bureau of investigation in connection with the corruption in alleged excise policy scam.

Furthermore, the court also observed, that the matter of interim bail can also be modified by a larger bench.

‘Given that the right to life is concerned and since the matter is referred to a larger bench, we direct Arvind Kejriwal to be released on interim bail said Justice Khanna while pronouncing its verdict.

Earlier, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was detained on March 21 by ED. As per law enforcement, a ‘criminal conspiracy was planned by AAP leaders including Kejriwal to establish loopholes in Delhi liquor policy to provide favours to some businessman, in exchange for undue favours.

BJP Wants Arvind Kejriwal’s Resignation: Sanjay Singh After Releasing from Tihar jail

After being released from Tihar jail on Wednesday, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP, alleging that they aimed to coerce Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation to disrupt the provision of free water, electricity, and Mohalla clinics in the capital.

Mr. Singh, who obtained bail in the alleged excise policy scam from the Supreme Court on Tuesday, questioned whether the Prime Minister would cooperate with an investigation if approached by police from opposition-ruled states like Bengal, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.

He emphasized that AAP leaders Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain were incarcerated due to their efforts to provide quality education, healthcare facilities, free bus rides, and ₹1,000 for Delhi women.

Mr. Singh highlighted the familial unity within the Aam Aadmi Party. Upon his release, the Rajya Sabha MP visited Delhi Chief Minister’s wife Sunita Kejriwal and observed tears in her eyes.

Expressing intentions to meet the families of Sisodia and Jain, Mr. Singh urged the public to beware of “dictators” while contrasting them with Mr. Kejriwal, who promises to provide education and healthcare, bringing happiness to people’s lives.

Addressing a spirited crowd of AAP supporters and volunteers at the AAP office, Mr. Singh underscored the party’s resilience against the BJP’s “dictatorship.” He expressed gratitude to AAP volunteers and leaders for resisting the BJP’s authoritarianism.

Accusing the BJP of attempting to detain other AAP leaders, including Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Raghav Chadha, and Durgesh Pathak, Mr. Singh stood in solidarity with Chief Minister Kejriwal, admonishing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for favoring corruption.

He reiterated that Mr. Kejriwal would not resign and would continue serving Delhi’s two crore residents. Mr. Singh emphasized that the BJP’s demand for Kejriwal’s resignation stemmed from their opposition to free electricity, water, bus rides for women, and Mohalla Clinics.

He pledged that the AAP would escalate its efforts, and the public would respond to Kejriwal’s “imprisonment” with their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Currently, Mr. Kejriwal remains in judicial custody until April 15 following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to his government’s now-defunct excise policy.

Addressing a press conference, Raghav Chadha said “Chandigarh Mayor election to be held on January 18 is not a general election. This is an election that will change the picture and direction of the politics of this country. We believe that this will lay the foundation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. AAP Leader Raghav Chadha Faces Revocation of Rajya Sabha Membership

On Monday, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar decided to lift Aam Aadmi Party member Raghav Chadha’s suspension from the Rajya Sabha. Chadha’s suspension was lifted following a motion moved by BJP Member of Parliament GVL Narsimha Rao during the Monsoon session of Parliament.

The Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee met in Parliament to discuss the AAP leader’s suspension. In a video message, Chadha expressed gratitude for the Supreme Court’s intervention, which resulted in his suspension being lifted. He emphasized the significance of the 115-day suspension, which prevented him from raising questions on behalf of the people.

Chadha was suspended on August 11 this year for allegedly breaching privilege by including the names of five Rajya Sabha MPs in a select committee without their consent, related to the Delhi Services Bill. His suspension was contingent upon the Privilege Committee’s findings on the alleged forgery of signatures.

Earlier, Chadha challenged his suspension in the Supreme Court, arguing that it was illegal and lacked legal authority. The Supreme Court, while addressing his plea, directed Chadha to offer an unconditional apology to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Rajya Sabha’s Privileges Committee will meet in Parliament on Monday to discuss MP Raghav Chaddha of the Aam Adami Party (AAP) and his suspension.
The meeting, which was supposed to start at 12:30 p.m., is about to get underway.
Following complaints, Chadha was suspended from the Upper House on August 11 for a “breach of privilege” that occurred during the Monsoon Session.
The MP was accused of putting five Rajya Sabha MPs’ names on a select committee without getting their permission.

He was suspended till the Privilege Committee submitted its findings on the allegation against him for forging the signatures of five MPs in a motion related to the Delhi Services Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Chadha has called the suspension patently illegal and without the authority of the law.
His suspension followed a motion moved by Leader of the House Piyush Goyal, who sought action against the AAP leader for including the names of some members of the Upper House without their consent in a proposed select committee for the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
Chadha moved to the top court, challenging his indefinite suspension from the Rajya Sabha.

SC asks AAP MP Raghav Chadha to meet RS Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar

In light of his suspension from the House, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha to meet with Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar and offer an unconditional apology. Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, and the rest of the bench hoped the Chairperson would adopt a “sympathetic” stance. The MP intends to maintain the honour of the House of which he is a member, and he will make an appointment with the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha to offer an unconditional apology, according to statements made by Chadha’s lawyer, which the bench duly noted.

Chadha was suspended for not obtaining the consent of five Rajya Sabha members before proposing their names for a Select Committee.
The bench asked the Attorney General for India R Venkataramani and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to apprise it of the developments in the matter after the Diwali vacation.
Chadha’s counsel told the bench that he is the youngest member of the House and he had no problem in tendering the apology.

Following his breather, Chadha expressed his sincere gratitude to the Supreme Court for supporting him in his battle to preserve the Constitution. The break came one week after the AAP MP, who was suspended, filed a case in the Delhi High Court contesting the decision of a trial court to revoke an interim order. This allowed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to issue an order requesting that he leave the government bungalow that had been assigned to him.

Expressing his gratitude for the Delhi HC after it set aside the Patiala House Court order, Chadha said, “I want to thank the Delhi High Court from the bottom of my heart for setting aside a lower court order in a matter related to the government bungalow allotted to me and pronouncing a verdict in my favour. This isn’t a fight for a house or a shop, this is a fight to save the Constitution. In the end, truth and justice have prevailed. I welcome the decision of the Delhi High Court to stay the trial court ruling.”
A single bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, earlier, reserved the trial court order in the matter after hearing the arguments from both sides.

Actor Parineeti Chopra, who tied the knot with AAP leader Raghav Chadha in Udaipur on September 24, has shared glimpses of the cricket match and other sports activities between ‘Chopras and Chadhas’.

The actor took to her Instagram handle to share the different sports activities that the couple enjoyed as part of their pre-wedding rituals. It included a cricket match, musical chair, and Lemon & Spoon race, among others. She mentioned how they relived their childhood days. In the ‘World Cup Cricketers’ part, Parineeti referred to Harbhajan Singh. Despite the fact that Singh is on the groom’s side as indicated by his T-shirt, it appears that Parineeti exerted every effort to sway him in her favour.
