He told me he is ready for any inquiry and that he has done nothing wrong,” Pawar said.

Pune Porsche Crash: Another Detained For Blood Sample Tampering

Amidst the ongoing Pune car accident investigation, the Pune police have made another arrest over the alleged tampering of the teen’s blood sample on Monday.

The name of the arrested accused is Atul Ghatkamble, who is also an employee of Sassoon Hospital.

According to Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the doctors of Sassoon Hospital had earlier replaced the juvenile’s blood samples with another one, and later, they threw the original sample in the hospital’s dustbin.

Further Kumar, announced, that the doctors had been arrested and different sections of IPC have been attached.

“On May 19, at around 11 am the blood sample that was taken at Sassoon Hospital was thrown in a dustbin of the hospital and the blood sample of another person was taken and sent to the forensic lab. CMO Srihari Harnor replaced this blood sample. During the investigation, we found Srihari Harnor replaced this on the instructions of the HOD Forensic Medicine Department of Sassoon, Ajay Tawre.” said Amitesh Kumar during press conference.

Later, the police commissioner also added that from the first report itself, it was understood that the doctor had cleared the teen of alcohol consumption. Subsequently, a second sample was taken and sent for DNA sampling. The report was then matched with the teen’s father.

Currently, the crime branch is actively searching for the individual whose blood sample was substituted by the doctors.

Earlier, on May 25, the crime branch detained grandfather of the minor accused in this case.

After his arrest, a separate FIR against him was registered under section 365 and 368.

Pune juvenile court on Wednesday revoked the bail of the 17-year-old accused who collided his Porsche into a motorcycle from behind, resulting in the deaths of two young techies in Pune. The Juvenile Justice Board has sent the minor accused to a rehabilitation home/observation home until June 5.

This decision comes amidst significant public outrage over the court’s previous decision to grant bail to the accused within 15 hours under the Juvenile Justice Act, with lenient conditions including 15 days of community service with the Yerwada traffic police, composing a 300-word reflective essay on the accident and its consequences, and undergoing psychiatric counseling. Additionally, the accused, who allegedly was under the influence of alcohol, was instructed to seek medical assistance to stop drinking.

Earlier in the day, a Pune court ordered the father of the accused to two-day police custody until May 24. The father, a prominent builder, faces charges of allowing his son to drive his high-end car despite knowing that the latter lacked a driver’s license, had no training to operate the vehicle, and had consumed alcohol. The builder was apprehended from a lodge in Sambhajinagar, while his driver and associate were apprehended from a hotel.

Attempting to evade the authorities, the builder tried to deceive the police after fleeing the city. He dispatched one of his vehicles to Mumbai and another to Goa. Despite borrowing a vehicle from an associate, it contained a GPS device.

What occurred on the fatal night?

The accident took place around 2:30 am on Sunday when the 17-year-old, driving a Porsche Taycan at a speed of 160 km/h at the time of the crash, collided with a motorcycle from behind in Kalyaninagar. The collision resulted in the deaths of Anish Awadhia and Ashwini Kosta, both 24-year-old techies from Madhya Pradesh.

Prior to the accident, the teenager and his friends consumed alcohol at two pubs in the city – Cosie and Blak Mariott. At Cosie, which they visited at 10:40 pm on Saturday evening, the teenager spent Rs 48,000 in 90 minutes. They then proceeded to the second pub, Blak Mariott, at 12:10 am after Cosie ceased serving them.

Other Arrests made so far

The police also apprehended Naman Bhutada (25), the proprietor of the Cosie pub in Mundhwa, and Sachin Kaatkar (35), a staff member at the establishment. Additionally, Sandip Sangle (35), an assistant restaurant manager at the Blak Marriott pub, also situated in Mundhwa, has been detained. The underage driver had purportedly frequented these venues to socialize with his friends prior to the tragic accident.

Advocate Asim Saraode said “On behalf of the intervener, we have argued against granting bail to the father of the accused. The court has rejected the basis on which he was asking for bail and granted him judicial custody until May 24. He tried to present an argument that he had sent a driver with his accused son. Then why was the driver not driving the car and the person with no license was driving the car? I want to say with clarity that their association with gang members or their status as murderers has nothing to do with this case. The case is well discussed throughout the nation and the father is at fault as he failed to protect his minor son.”

He further said the lack of specific provisions in the FIR raises questions about why the police filed two FIRs. This issue may be brought to the high court for clarity. The FIR lacks details about the prohibition act and seems manipulated. There’s speculation that external pressure may have influenced the police, leading them to mislead the court. On Tuesday, the Pune Excise Department took firm action by closing down the Cosie Bar and the Black Bar in Pune. According to officials, these venues reportedly served alcohol to a minor before the incident. The bar managers were subsequently arrested by the police.
