Chief Priest Laxmikant Dixit, Who Officiated Pran Pratishtha Ceremony Passes Away At 90

Chief Priest Laxmikant Dixit, a key figure in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and a participant in its foundation-laying ceremony, passed away on Saturday.

Dixit, aged approximately 90, breathed his last at 6:45 in the morning on Saturday. Known for his unwavering devotion to the Hindu community and his leadership qualities, he conducted several important ceremonies at the Ram Temple, including the auspicious Pran Pratishtha ceremony in 2022.

His mortal remains are currently at his residence, and the final rites (Antim Sanskar) are scheduled to take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the Manikarnika Ghat, a sacred cremation ground in Ayodhya. The ceremony is expected to be attended by dignitaries, followers, and community members who held the priest in high regard.

Authorities have made all necessary arrangements for a smooth conduct of the last rites ceremony, including safety and security measures to manage the expected gathering of mourners and well-wishers.

More than 2.5 lakh devotees offer prayers at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple; administration monitoring situation

According to state government officials, between 2.5 and 3 lakh devotees prayed to Ram Lalla on Tuesday at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and an equal number of devotees are waiting for the darshan. Senior Uttar Pradesh government officials were on hand inside the Ram Temple in Ayodhya due to the large influx of devotees.Their role was to oversee the orderly movement of the devotees. Prashant Kumar, the Special DG (Law and Order) for Uttar Pradesh, and the Principal Secretary (Home) were inside the “Garbha Griha” keeping an eye on things. Following the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony on January 22, the Ram Temple was opened to the public on Tuesday.

According to officials, more than 8,000 security personnel are present to control the situation.
Since early morning, devotees have arrived at the temple to offer prayers.
“We are very pleased. We are touched even more to come to terms with the fact that we are going to have ‘darshan’ of the Ram Lalla,” said Tejender Singh, a devotee from Chandigarh.
On the huge crowd gathered at the gates of the temple, he said, “Lakhs of people will have the darshan of Lord Ram. So it is bound to be crowded.”
Another devotee said that he had come all the way from Odisha to have the darshan of Lord Ram at Ayodhya.

Jamia Varsity to probe students’ protest against Ayodhya Temple

A group of Jamia Millia Islamia students in Delhi demonstrated against the Babri Masjid’s demolition on the university campus on the day of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya’s “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony. Students held signs that read “RSS down down” and “Strike for Babri” during Monday’s protest.

Additionally, videos from the protest gained popularity and were shared on social media. In a video, two students could be seen chanting and holding signs featuring images of destroyed mosques, despite attempts by university security to dissuade them. According to university officials, the students were taken out of the area as soon as the protest got underway.

“There were 2-3 students who raised slogans and showed placards yesterday. When we got the knowledge the students were removed from the place. The university is further looking into the matter,” a Jamia official told.
He also said that ongoing exams for the evening shift went smoothly.
“No problems were faced during the exams. Jamia called the half day off, so the first half exams were postponed,” he added.
The Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla was held at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Monday. Following the Pran Pratishtha, the shrine was opened to the public on Tuesday.

Devotees thronged in large numbers to Ayodhya on Tuesday, the first morning after the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla at the grand temple.
Since the magnificent temple was opened to the public today, there has been a significant influx of devotees lining the main gate to receive a “Darshan” of Lord Ram Lalla despite strict security measures in place. At three in the morning, devotees flocked to the temple to offer prayers. Lord Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha ceremony came to an end on Monday.

“We are very pleased. Ayodhya has decked up like a bride. We are touched even more to come to terms with the fact that we are going to have ‘darshan’ of the Ram Lalla,” Tejender Singh, a devotee from Chandigarh said.

He emphasized that people would remember this date for thousands of years. Addressing the gathering during the Pran Pratishtan ceremony at the Garbh Griha of the temple, the Prime Minister expressed that the construction of the Ram Mandir has infused people with new energy.

“Lord Ram has finally arrived (in his abode) following the wait of centuries. After the patience that we showed for centuries and the sacrifices we made, our Lord Ram has finally arrived,” stated the PM. He emphasized that January 22, 2024, isn’t merely a date but the inception of a new era, filling people with renewed vigor. PM Modi declared that the country has liberated itself from the shackles of slavery, and people will remember this date and moment even after thousands of years, attributing it to Lord Ram’s supreme blessings.

PM Modi acknowledged the delay in the construction of the temple and sought forgiveness from Lord Ram. “Today, I apologize to Lord Ram as there was something lacking in our love and penance due to which this work (construction of Ram Temple) was not done for so many years. However, that gap has been bridged today, and I am confident that Lord Ram will forgive us,” he expressed.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court of India for its verdict on November 9, 2019, which paved the way for the construction of the temple. He thanked the Supreme Court for delivering justice and ensuring that the temple was built in accordance with the law. During the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, PM Modi, adorned in a cream-colored kurta and dhoti with a silver ‘chattar’ (umbrella) on a red folded dupatta, walked inside the temple premises, took ‘sankalp’ for the ceremony, and performed rituals in the sanctum sanctorum.

After the unveiling of the idol of Ram Lalla at Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya on Monday, devotees outside the Wadala Ram Temple in Mumbai celebrated the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla by dancing and bursting crackers. The idol of Lord Ram was revealed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led rituals at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in the sanctum sanctorum of the grand temple.

The ceremony unfolded in an atmosphere filled with a deep sense of devotion. Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters showered flower petals over Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple premises in Ayodhya as the idol of Ram Lalla was unveiled. Devotees and guests enthusiastically chanted ‘Jai Sri Ram’ during the ceremony. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir, constructed in traditional Nagara style, boasts dimensions of 380 feet (east-west) in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height, supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors. The pillars and walls intricately depict sculpted representations of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. The main sanctum sanctorum at the ground floor houses the idol of Shri Ramlalla, representing the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram.

The Mandir complex includes various halls (Mandaps) like Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap, and Kirtan Mandap. Nearby is a historic well (Sita koop) dating back to ancient times. The southwestern part of the complex, Kuber Tila, features the restored ancient temple of Bhagwan Shiv, along with a statue of Jatayu.

The foundation of the Mandir is constructed with a 14-meter-thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), providing an appearance of artificial rock, with no use of iron throughout. For protection against ground moisture, a 21-foot-high plinth has been constructed using granite. The Mandir complex incorporates a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, water supply for fire safety, and an independent power station, showcasing the use of traditional and indigenous technology in its construction.

Arrivals at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya to witness the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla have begun. To participate in the grand ceremony, B-town celebrities Madhuri Dixit Nene, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Ayushmann Khurrana, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Rajkumar Hirani, and filmmaker Rohit Shetty have arrived at the temple. Jagadguru compared the joy of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony to the bliss felt when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya from his ‘vanvaas’.

Women organisations in Bhubaneswar conduct rally ahead of Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya

To commemorate the historic occasion, women’s organizations in Bhubaneshwar planned a massive rally in advance of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya’s “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony. In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Marwadi Mahila Samiti, Friends of Tribal Society, Dadi Mandali, and representatives of several yoga groups marched from Cuttack Road to Sriram Mandir.

“My face can show my level of excitement and enthusiasm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked hard for this. We were slaves even after so many years of independence, but today we will become truly free and independent. We are united, and everything has become Rammaya,” said Sashi Sethia, a woman rally participant.

The idol of Ram Lalla has been placed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in Ayodhya. The idol of ‘Ram Lalla’ is carved by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj. The idol is 51 inches tall and weighs 1.5 tonnes. The idol portrays Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus also crafted from the same stone.

The following dates were set: January 19 for Aushadhivas, Kesaradhivas, and Ghritadhivas; January 19 for Dhanyadhivas; January 20 for Sugardhivas, Fruitdhivas, and Pushpadhivas; and January 21 for Madhyadhivas and Shayadhivas.

On Sunday, before the grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple on January 22, Ram bhajan was heard being sung by passengers on a flight from Delhi to Ayodhya. Around noon, scenes of devotion filled the air on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Ayodhya as passengers sang and danced to the sounds of Ram bhajans. On Monday, January 22, there will be a ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Shri Ram Lalla at the temple in Ayodhya. The historic event in the holy city of Ayodhya is anticipated to draw thousands of devotees from throughout the nation. People from all walks of life and dignitaries will be present on this historic day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the event, thousands including politicians, saints, and celebrities, have been invited to the ceremony.
The temple trust has also invited around 4,000 saints of all sects for the ceremony.

As Ayodhya prepares for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Shri Ram Lalla on January 22, seers and visitors from around the world are converging on the holy city. Shanak Sanatan Das, a German ascetic residing in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the traditional nature of the event, stating, “The event involves a very traditional approach. This is a very auspicious occasion.” Speaking about the transformation of Ayodhya, he noted the significant development the city has undergone since his earlier visit in 1992.

Reflecting on the city’s progress, Shanak Sanatan Das expressed, “It feels fantastic to be here in Ayodhya. It has the appearance of a holy dham ahead of the opening of the Ram Temple. When I was here earlier in 1992, this city used to be neglected and lagged on several development parameters and public amenities. However, the aspect that struck me about the city since my arrival here is the development explosion that it has undergone.”

ISKCON national campaigner, Yudishthir Govind Das, highlighted the anticipation surrounding the historic moment, stating, “Devotees across the world have been eagerly waiting for this day for 500 years. Ayodhya has been relaid and given a proper makeover.” He mentioned that ISKCON would organize events globally, including Ram Katha and Bhandaras, on January 22.

NDRF Sets Up Camp Near Ram Temple in Ayodhya Ahead of ‘Pran Pratishtha’

With just 48 hours remaining until the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple on January 22, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has established a camp near the shrine in Ayodhya to respond to contingencies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to perform the rituals for the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla at the temple.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Manoj Kumar Sharma, stated that three NDRF teams have been deployed in coordination with the local administration and police. One team is stationed at the ghats, and the NDRF is prepared to handle various contingencies. Elaborate security arrangements have been made across the city ahead of the grand ceremony.

Praveen Kumar, IG, Ayodhya, assured that necessary security preparations are in place, including close surveillance through drone cameras and human intelligence. The police are addressing security loopholes, and the authorities are confident that the event on January 22 will proceed smoothly.

The Ayodhya Police issued a caution against rising cybercrimes related to the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. Cybercriminals are reportedly defrauding people by sending fake QR codes for donations in the name of the Ram Temple, offering free prasad (food offered to the deity), VIP passes, and entry passes to the temple. A fake website in the name of Ram Mandir, Ayodhya, has also been created. Citizens are advised not to respond to unknown messages or donate money without verification.

The booking for ‘aarti’ passes to the Ram Janmbhoomi temple started in December, and a team of priests, led by Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will officiate the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ rituals on January 22. Ram Janmabhoomi chief priest discusses the significance of ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony

The chief priest of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Acharya Satyendra Das Maharaj, announced on Friday that the ritualistic transference of the deity’s soul and spirit into the idol will take place on January 22 during the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony. This announcement comes amid the countdown to the opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. On Thursday, the idol of Lord Ram was placed inside the temple’s sanctum sanctorum in advance of “Pran Pratishtha.”

Covered by a veil, the first photo of the idol was revealed during the placement ceremony in the sanctum sanctorum. The images were shared by Sharad Sharma, media in-charge of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Vedic Brahmins and revered Acharyas were seen leading worship ceremonies inside the sacred precincts of the Sri Ram Temple.

“The energy of Lord Ram that we worship, which helps in our well-being and keeps us in good spirits and of sound body and mind at all times,” the seer said, explaining the significance of the Pran Pratishtha. Therefore, blessings and good health will come from worshiping this idol of Shri Ram Lalla.” The chief priest stated, “The Pran Pratishtha ceremony started on January 17 and will end on the 22nd,” when asked how many days the entire ceremony takes to complete. It may take seven days at times, eleven days at other times, or even 23 days.”

The seer added that the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ starts with the Kalash Yatra followed by the idol’s ‘Nagar Bhraman’ (tour around town) and a bath in the Saryu river.

Ramotsav 2024: Over 500 women participate in Jal Kalash Yatra prior to Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya

More than 500 women took part in the Jal Kalash Yatra on Wednesday, which went from the Saryu River to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, ahead of the highly anticipated Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Shri Ram Lalla. On the second day of the six-day event, a number of events, including the Jal Kalash Yatra, were scheduled in advance of the Ram Temple ceremony.

According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), “Ahead of the consecration of Lord Shri Ram lalla, women took out ‘Jal Kalash Yatra’. More than 500 women participated in it. Wednesday was the second day of the consecration ritual. The whole society joined the function at the invitation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.”
“The women of Ayodhya metropolis started the yatra in the morning from the banks of Saryu in Shri Ram Nagari. With the flag of Shri Ram flying on their heads, women carrying Maa Saryu water-filled urns danced and cheered to the tune of Lord Ram,” it said.
As per the release, the yatra was organized under the coordination of Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi and led by his wife Ramalakshmi Tripathi.
“More than 500 women including Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak’s wife Namrata Pathak, and District Panchayat President Roli Singh participated in the yatra,” said the release.

In related developments, Vedic rituals for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya commenced a week before the main event. Sudarshan Pattnaik to create sand art during ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony

Renowned sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarshan Pattnaik has been invited by the Culture Department of Uttar Pradesh to participate in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

Pattnaik, known for his Lord Ram-themed sand sculptures, expressed his gratitude for the invitation, considering it a blessing to be part of the auspicious event. He plans to collaborate with eight of his students for a sand art creation during the ceremony.

Pattnaik, a Padma awardee, has actively participated in over 65 international sand sculpture championships, using his art to address global issues such as HIV/AIDS, global warming, plastic pollution, environmental conservation, counter-terrorism, and COVID-19.

His commitment to social awareness is reflected in the impactful themes he selects for his sand sculptures. Hema Malini to present dance drama based on ‘Ramayana’ in Ayodhya Dham

BJP Member of Parliament Hema Malini is set to present a dance drama based on the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ in Ayodhya ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. The World Hindu Foundation’s founder and global chairman, Swami Vigyananand, announced on Sunday that approximately one hundred dignitaries, including ambassadors and Members of Parliament, have been invited to the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

The countries that have been invited include Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Botswana, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Dominica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Guyana, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Malawi, Mauritius, Mexico, Myanmar, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies, Uganda, UK, USA, Vietnam, and Zambia.

According to VHP Joint General Secretary Swami Vigyananand, who is in charge of the group’s international relations, the leaders of the participating nations will be present at the Ram Temple event. Swami Vigyananand added that all of the international VVIP delegates would land in Lucknow on January 20 and travel to Ayodhya by evening on January 21. “The delegates have been asked to travel to India prior to the event due to the fog and weather conditions,” he continued.

Swami Vigyananand had earlier said that they had planned to invite more overseas guests but due to the small place, they had to cut down on the guest list.

A special meeting was held between Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra and the government officials ahead of the much-awaited ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla. To be known, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra is a trust that aims to look after the construction and management of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Officials including Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal, the Inspector-General of Police, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, and General Secretary, Champat Rai, were also present in the meeting.

On the occasion of National Youth Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (on Friday) energized the nation with his powerful speech. Inaugurating the 27th National Youth Festival in Maharashtra’s Nashik at Tapovan Ground, he emphasized the significance of youths’ contribution to the country’s development.

He started his speech by remembering Rajmata Jijau on her birth anniversary as she is known to be the warrior spirit in India. He highlighted the need for youth to emphasize using Indian or local products and a straight no to drugs.

Addressing the crowd he said, “From the sages, and saints of our country to the common man, everyone has always kept youth power paramount. Sri Aurobindo believed that if India wanted to achieve its goals, the youth of India would have to move forward with independent thinking. Swami Vivekananda used to say that India’s hopes rest on the character and commitment of her youth.”

PM praises the enthusiasm in the youth for their potential to create history and encourages them to engage in activities to be remembered by the next generations. “The youth have calibre to create history, do such work that the generation of that time in the next century will remember you,” he said.

Reminding of the caliber in Yuvashakti, PM Modi highlights achievements, he said, “I am confident that your strength and your spirit of service will take the country and society to new heights. “I will reiterate my request to the countrymen to run cleanliness campaigns in all the temples and pilgrimage areas of the country and donate their labour on occasion of the auspicious consecration of life in the Ram temple,” he said.

He then expressed his achievement over the response to ‘Mera Yuva Bharat Sangathan’, he said, “I am also very excited by the speed with which youth in every corner of the country are joining ‘Mera Yuva Bharat Sangathan’. This is the first Youth Day after the establishment of My Youth India Organization. Even 75 days have not been completed in this organization and around 1.10 crore youth have registered their names in it.”

Ahead of addressing the assembly, PM Modi paid floral tribute to one of India’s greatest philosophers and spiritual leaders Swami Vivekananda Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary.

In his schedule PM will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 30,500 crore rupees. The projects include inauguration of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewari – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu in Mumbai to improve ease of mobility by strengthening urban transport infrastructure. Built at a cost of Rs 17,840 crore rupees, Atal Setu is the longest sea bridge in the country.

Explaining the purpose of the ritual, PM Modi referred to awakening divine consciousness within oneself for the Yagya and worship of God. He outlined that fasting and strict rules, as suggested by ascetic souls and spiritual leaders, are prescribed in scriptures for this purpose.

The Prime Minister concluded his message with prayers at the feet of God, expressing gratitude for the virtues of sages and ascetics. He sought blessings from the people, considering them the form of God, to ensure no shortcomings from his side in mind, words, and deeds during this holy occasion.

“All 4 Shankaracharyas to skip Ram Temple event,” two showed support!

Amidst the video implying that the four Shankaracharyas will not attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony set to be held on January 22 at Ayodhya. Two of them have made it clear that they completely support the ceremony. On Thursday, VHP working president Alok Kumar confirmed that the Dwarka and Shringeri Shankaracharyas have showcased support in the public domain. The Puri Shankaracharya is also in favor of the event.

In a public statement, Kumar said, “They have said that they will come for darshan of Ram Lalla at an opportune time.” He added, “Only Jyotirpeeth Shankaracharya has made remarks against the ceremony but the remaining three Shankaracharyas have made it clear that statements attributed to them were misleading as they are in full support of the ceremony.”

On the other hand, the Shankaracharyas of Shringeri and Dwarka Peeth expressed their joy and said that it is a time of happiness and pride for the followers of ‘Sanatan Dharm.’

In a written statement issued by Dwarka Peeth clarified that the statements published in a media section were without his permission. Similarly, the Shringeri Peeth also confirmed that the social media outlets released posts that suggested that the Shankaracharya is against the Ram Temple. “Shringeri Shankaracharya has not given any such message. It’s propaganda by enemies of religion,” the statement read, “The Shringeri Shankaracharya blesses all the believers to take part in this pious occasion…” it added.

Before, a video of Joshimath’s Jyotirpeeth Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati was released where he stated that none of the Shankaracharyas will attend the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony as it is being done before the completion of Ram Temple construction.

He said that it is the duty of the Shankaracharyas to ensure that the religious scriptures are followed properly. Avimukteshwaranand said. “Modi (PM) will inaugurate the temple. He will touch the idol then what am I supposed to do? Stand there and clap?” He told the media that he will skip the ceremony stating that he is aware of the dignity of his position.
