Independence Day 2024: Steps To Download ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Certificate

As India celebrates its 77th Independence Day, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is back as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022, this campaign encourages citizens to display the Tricolour at their homes.

This year, the campaign includes a special ‘Tiranga Bike Rally’ on August 13, featuring Members of Parliament. The rally will start at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, and end at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, passing through India Gate.

About the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Certificate

A key feature of the campaign is the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ certificate. Citizens are encouraged to hoist the Tiranga at home, take a selfie with it, and upload it to [harghartiranga.com] to secure their certificate.

Since its launch, the campaign has seen tremendous participation. In 2022, the Tricolour was displayed at over 23 crore homes, with six crore selfies uploaded to the portal. The initiative continued to grow in 2023, with over 10 crore selfies uploaded. This year, the campaign continues to promote national pride and emphasize the significance of the Tricolour.

PM Modi Urges Support for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’

On August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to support the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by changing their profile pictures to the Indian Tricolour. In a post on X, he announced that he had changed his own profile picture and encouraged everyone to do the same in celebration of the national flag.

“As this year’s Independence Day approaches, let’s once again make #HarGharTiranga a memorable mass movement. I have changed my profile picture, and I urge you all to join me in celebrating our Tricolour by doing the same. And yes, do share your selfies on [harghartiranga.com]” he said.

Steps to Download Your ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Certificate

Go to [harghartiranga.com] and select the ‘Upload Selfie’ option.
Click on “Click to Participate” to begin the process.
Provide your name, phone number, country, and state, then upload your selfie.
Read and accept the pledge, “I authorize the use of my picture on the portal,” then click ‘Submit.’
Click on “Generate Certificate” to obtain your certificate. You can save it using the download button or share it online using the provided options.

Delhi: Pragati Maidan Tunnel Reopens After Record Rainfall Causes Temporary Closure

The Pragati Maidan Tunnel in Delhi, which had been temporarily closed due to waterlogging caused by record-breaking heavy rainfall, was reopened to the public on Monday. Public Works Department officials confirmed that traffic movement in the tunnel has resumed.

The tunnel had been closed since June 28. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, the Safdarjung observatory, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall, followed by 192.8 mm at Lodhi Road, 150.4 mm at Ridge, 106.6 mm at Palam, and 66.3 mm at Ayanagar on that day. The 228.1 mm rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on June 28 was over three times the June average of 74.1 mm and the highest for the month since 1936.

The Public Works Department reported receiving more than 200 calls from waterlogged areas. Efforts were made to drain water from the Minto Bridge underpass and various other parts of the city.

According to the IMD, multiple large-scale monsoonal weather systems created conditions for mesoscale convective activity over Delhi NCR, leading to intense thunderstorms and heavy rainfall during the early hours of June 28. This activity was supported by thermodynamic instability in the atmosphere, which is favorable for thunderstorms.

The IMD explained that the monsoon had stalled over eastern India due to weak monsoon currents over the Bay of Bengal. However, from June 25 onwards, the monsoon currents strengthened with the development of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the central and northern Bay of Bengal at middle atmospheric levels.

India International Trade Fair 2023: Cultural events and celebrations lined up to celebrate Assam Day on Wednesday

The 42nd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2023, which is currently taking place at the Pragati Maidan, will commemorate Assam Day on Wednesday here. Bimal Borah, the minister of industries, commerce, public enterprises, and cultural affairs for Assam, will be the main guest at the event. A number of events are scheduled to take place at one of the amphitheaters to highlight the diversity and rich cultural legacy of Assam. Assam Day celebrations feature a variety of performances, including Satriya, Jhumur, Hajong, and Bihu dances, as well as music by well-known musicians Ridip Rankit and Bhrigu Kashyap.

An Assam Pavilion was also being set up at the fair venue, showcasing the state’s rich culture and its offerings. It was inaugurated by the Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam Ravi Kota on November 14.
Various initiatives of the government of Assam including One District One Product, GI products — Assam Lemon, Gamusa, Muga silk etc — along with traditional dresses of Assam, Ease of Doing Business, Assam Start-Up, are being promoted. The Assam Pavilion houses five numbers of government departments or PSUs, 32 MSME units, and two start-ups.

The India International Trade Fair’s theme for this year is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – United by Trade.” On November 27, the two-week-long fair will come to an end.

World Food India 2023: PM Modi to inaugurate second edition of the Mega food event today

The megafood event “World Food India 2023″ will have its second edition officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The event will begin at 10 a.m. in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated in an official statement, “This support will help SHGs gain better price realisation in the market through improved packaging and quality manufacturing.” In addition, the Prime Minister will open “Food Street” in conjunction with World Food India 2023. It will be a one-of-a-kind culinary experience with over 200 chefs participating and presenting traditional Indian cuisine, along with regional cuisines and royal culinary heritage.

Government agencies, business people in the field, farmers, entrepreneurs, and other interested parties will be able to network, form partnerships, and look into investment opportunities in the agri-food sector. There will be CEO roundtables with an emphasis on investment and business ease of doing business. There will be a number of pavilions erected to highlight the strength and inventiveness of the Indian food processing sector. 48 sessions covering various facets of the food processing industry will be held during the event, with a focus on quality control, financial empowerment, and advancements in machinery and technology.

Minor fire breaks out near Bhairon Temple at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan

Firefighters put out a small fire on Sunday in the nation’s capital, close to the Bharat Mandapam site of the ongoing G20 Summit, according to officials. The incident was outside the Bhairaon Temple.
Locals notified the fire department of the incident about 7 am, at which point a team of firefighters sped to the scene, according to the Delhi Fire Department.
There were no reported casualties after the fire was quickly put out.

The incident happened outside the gate of the Bhairon Temple and is said to have been caused after electricity wires caught fire.
Several parts of the city received light to moderate rainfall on the intervening night of Saturday that continued till Sunday morning.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), more rainfall is expected in the next couple of days, bringing respite from the hot weather that has persisted in the national capital for the last few days.

Pragati Maidan Tunnel dacoity: Court rejects bail plea of man accused of doing recce

A man accused of conducting a reconnaissance of the area prior to the newsworthy Pragati Maidan Tunnel gunpoint robbery of a businessman of Rs. 50 lakh in June had his bail application rejected by Delhi’s Patiala House Court. Using a country-made pistol he had with him, the accused accidentally shot himself and was taken to the hospital. In this regard, a separate case was filed in Delhi’s Burari. However, a grant in the robbery case has already been given to an accused Pawan.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Shailender Malik on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of Vishal considering his case different from that of Pawan.
“With regard to the applicant/accused it has already come on record that he carried out recce prior to the incident and thereafter one day prior to the incident he received a gunshot injury from the country-made pistol being in his possession. Therefore separate FIR was registered,” ASJ Shailender Malik said in the order on August 29.
He observed, “That apart, there is evidence showing that at the time of incidence applicant/ accused may not be present at the place of incident but was in contact with his co-accused persons as is reflected from CDR and call location.”

Recovery from his instance further supports that fact. Therefore, there is no basis for granting bail. As a result, the court dismissed the application. “Pawan Kumar Jha, undoubtedly one of the co-accused, has been freed on bail. However, I believe that his case is very different from that of the applicant/accused because the latter was only charged with operating a vehicle, the court stated in the order issued on August 29. The current case was filed in relation to the incident of June 24, 2023, when an armed robbery occurred in the Pragati Maidan Tunnel. Four armed robbers who arrived on two motorcycles stopped one OLA cab and forcibly robbed a passenger/businessman by taking his bag while holding him at gunpoint.

Delhi police conduct a mock drill to review traffic arrangements prior to the G20 summit

The Delhi police are hard at work making special arrangements to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the arrival of the high-profile delegates, including heads of states for the mega event. The 18th Heads of State and Government Summit of the G20 (Group of 20) is scheduled to begin next month in the national capital under India’s presidency.

In order to review the restriction and diversion arrangements, Delhi traffic police on Monday morning conducted a mock drill exercise on major roads connecting Pragati Maidan, the summit’s main venue, with a number of hotels. As part of the exercise, several teams of traffic police officers were stationed at various intersections, and barricades were built at intersections and diversion points.

The summit will take place at the recently opened Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition and Convention Center at Pragati Maidan. The Delhi Police have been making preparations for a while, and they are currently training personnel who will be stationed in various locations. Police are also teaching their employees how to handle chemical and biological weapons while emphasizing their soft skills.

Nineteen “markswomen” of the Delhi Police, women commandos of its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit have undergone a four-week specialised training course, conducted by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at its training centre in Karera, Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from this, Delhi Police has procured special kinds of weapons, ammunition, bulletproof jackets and X-ray machines.
“G20 is a matter of great pride for India, its main event is to be held in the month of September, in view of that anti-terror measures are being taken, swat commandos are at the forefront of anti-terror measures,” Ingit Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell said on the precautions being taken for the Summit.
“We have trained 19 SWAT commandos as markswomen in urban scenarios, they are different from snipers. The training was held for four weeks in MP’s Karera,” he said.
The G20 Summit is slated to take place on September 9-10 at a recently-inaugurated state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam convention centre at Pragati Maidan.

Delhi: 5 suspects have been arrested in Pragati Maidan tunnel robbery case

On tuesday morning, the Delhi Police Crime Branch announced the arrest of five persons in connection with the saturday tunnel robbery at Pragati Maidan. A delivery agent and his associate were allegedly robbed of Rs 2 lakh at gunpoint by four unidentified men inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel on saturday when the victims were going towards Gurugram in a cab to deliver the money. Two men were apprehended in connection with the robbery incident by Monday night, and the other suspects were successfully identified. Raids and random inspections were being conducted to apprehend them, the police had said on monday night.
On Tuesday morning subsequent updates by Delhi Police revealed that they had arrested four, and then five individuals total so far, for being associated with the robbery.
Delhi Police Special CP, Dependra Pathak, oversaw the patrolling in Chandni Chowk and said on Monday, “The basic motive behind this patrolling is crime containment, and this is a part of mere surprise inspection (on the ground).”
He said, “If we look at the statistics of crime in the past few years there has been no increase in it. Whatever crimes have happened, they have been solved effectively and the strictest proceedings have been followed by the Delhi Police. It’s a part of institutional and professional policing, and Delhi police maintain that.”
After the CCTV visuals of the incident surfaced on social media, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hit out at Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena demanding his resignation.
“LG shud (should) resign. Make way for someone who can provide safety n (and) security to the people of Delhi. If the Central govt is unable to make Delhi safe, hand it over to us. We will show u (you) how to make a city safe for its citizens,” the Delhi CM tweeted on Monday morning, in reference to the CCTV footage of the robbery. “LG sir: If you get free time from taking credit for @Arvind Kejriwal’s work, then sometimes pay attention to your constitutional responsibility,” Delhi Minister Atishi remarked on Twitter. It is your responsibility to keep the people of Delhi safe. And now, in broad daylight, theft, dacoity, and murder are occurring in Delhi. Either accept responsibility for security or resign.”

PM Modi inaugurates first-ever National Training Conclave in Delhi

The inaugural National Training Conclave took place at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan on Sunday, with the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event.Participants from various civil service training programs across the country attended the Conclave. Organized by the Capacity Building Commission, the Conclave aimed to foster collaboration among civil service training institutions and strengthen the nationwide training infrastructure for government employees.

The conclave was attended by more than 1500 representatives from training institutions, including Central Training Institutes, State Administrative Training Institutes, Regional and Zonal Training Institutes, and Research Institutes.According to an official statement, specialists from the private sector and civil servants from state, local, and central government departments also participated in the discussions.

“This diverse gathering will foster the exchange of ideas, identify the challenges being faced and opportunities available, and generate actionable solutions and comprehensive strategies for capacity building,” the statement read.The conclave included eight-panel discussions, each focusing on key concerns pertinent to Civil services training institutes such as faculty development, training impact assessment and content digitisation, among others.

PM Modi to address 90th Interpol General Assembly in Pragati Maidan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will address the 90th Interpol General Assembly.

Earlier, in 1997 the Interpol General Assembly was last held and PM Modi will address the Assembly at around 1:45 in Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the 90th General Assembly of Interpol will be held from October 18 to 21, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

Moreover, 195 Interpol member countries comprising Ministers, Police Chiefs of countries, Heads of National Central Bureaus, and Senior police officers will be attending the meeting.

In the meeting, Union Home Minister, Interpol President Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, and Secretary General Jurgen Stock, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director will also be present.

According to the PMO statement, “The Interpol General Assembly meeting is taking place in India after a gap of about 25 years – it was last held in 1997. India’s proposal to host the Interpol General Assembly in 2022 at New Delhi coinciding with celebrations for the 75th year of India’s independence was accepted by the General Assembly with an overwhelming majority.”

However, the event provides a platform to showcase best practices in India’s law and order system to the entire world.
