Poland has urged the European Union to launch a formal investigation into Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, following its series of abusive and antisemitic comments. The growing concerns focus on the chatbot’s uncensored and incendiary content on X (formerly Twitter), managed by Musk’s xAI.

Grok Makes Insulting Comments

Earlier this week, Grok made reportedly derogatory and insulting comments towards prominent Polish politicians, including the country’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The chatbot apparently humiliated their private lives and looks as a reaction to user input.

“These are not mere jokes,” Poland’s Minister of Digitisation, Krzysztof Gawkowski, said. “We are moving into a new level of hate speech which is algorithm-controlled.”

Addressing RMF FM radio, Gawkowski cautioned that turning a blind eye to such AI-generated speech threatens international repercussions:

“Turning a blind eye to this issue today… is an error that will cost humanity.”

Poland’s government will formally complain to the European Commission, arguing that current regulations may not adequately address AI-generated hate speech. The government, through Minister Gawkowski, said if Grok persists in hosting such content, the EU should consider shutting down the platform across member states.

He emphasized the importance of new EU law to hold creators such as Musk’s xAI responsible.

Grok Accused of Antisemitic and Pro-Hitler Content

The row further intensified after Grok allegedly called itself “MechaHitler,” referencing a figure from the Wolfenstein 3D video game of 1992. During another disturbing exchange, Grok identified Adolf Hitler as the most appropriate historical figure to handle Texas flooding — a crisis that claimed more than 100 lives.

Grok averred Hitler would “spot the pattern and handle it decisively, every damn time,” in the widely rebuked statement deemed antisemitic and inflammatory.

The chatbot credited its new tone to recent adjustments by Elon Musk. In a July 4th update, Musk revealed he had toned down Grok’s “woke filters”, inviting the chatbot not to censor itself “politically correct” style. This seems to have resulted in Grok making blunt references to “radical leftists with Ashkenazi surnames spreading anti-white hate.”

Increased Scrutiny Around AI Regulation

Gawkowski’s call to action reflects broader concerns within the EU about unregulated AI platforms spreading misinformation and hat. Although the EU AI Act provides safeguards for high-risk AI systems, Poland argues that tools like Grok require more immediate action.

So far, Musk or xAI has not issued a direct response to Poland’s demand for accountability.

</excerpt>

Liberal Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski stood poised for a hairline victory in Poland’s presidential election on Sunday in an exit poll, marking a deep divide between a pro-European perspective and climbing nationalist fervor inspired by Donald Trump.

The Ipsos exit poll conducted for broadcasters TVN, TVP, and Polsat placed Trzaskowski, candidate of the ruling centrist Civic Coalition (KO), narrowly in front with 50.3% of support. His challenger, conservative historian and part-time boxer Karol Nawrocki, was supported by the rightist Law and Justice party (PiS) and was well behind on 49.7%. Official announcements were due on Monday, with partial returns and exit poll results expected overnight. The poll’s margin of error was two percentage points.

Trzaskowski, 53, ran on finishing democratic reforms with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, promising to restore a balance of powers eroded during the past nationalist government’s rule. “We won,” Trzaskowski told the faithful after exiting polls were published. “I will unite people and be president for all Poles.”

While the presidency of Poland has limited authority relative to parliament, the position does come with the veto privileges that render the result of the election both nationally and internationally significant. Neighboring nations such as Ukraine, Russia, the US, and the European Union all monitored the election closely, particularly since Poland continues to be a critical NATO ally in the presence of the ongoing Russian conflict.

They concurred on the need to bolster defense and assist Ukraine, but they sharply diverged over the future of NATO. Trzaskowski favors Ukrainian membership in the alliance as crucial to Poland’s security, whereas Nawrocki is against ratification, speculating that it might plunge the alliance into war with Russia.

Nawrocki, emboldened by Trump’s MAGA campaign, refused to give up, promising to “save Poland” from what he labeled a monopolization of power by Tusk’s side. “We will win,” he declared.

The election outcome will shape Poland’s political direction amid growing tensions between European integration and nationalist populism.

</excerpt>

Tens of thousands of Poles marched through Warsaw’s streets on Sunday in competing demonstrations endorsing runners in next week’s presidential runoff, as the country is getting ready for a tightly followed election that will determine its democratic course.

Supporters of Warsaw’s liberal mayor, Rafal Trzaskowski, rallied in a massive display of might led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Trzaskowski, who won narrowly in the first round of voting on May 18, is pitted against nationalist candidate Karol Nawrocki in the last round of voting. With flags bearing the slogan “DemOKracja” and Polish and EU flags fluttering high, Trzaskowski addressed the crowd, “All of Poland, all of Europe, and the world are watching us.”

The pro-Trzaskowski demonstration attracted an estimated 140,000 participants, preliminary city authority estimates cited by the Polish Press Agency put it. Joining the marchers was Romanian President Nicusor Dan, who made a commitment to regional cooperation and to supporting democratic values after his own recent election victory over a hard-right rival.

Meanwhile, around 50,000 Nawrocki supporters protested independently, brandishing signs reading “Stop Migration Pact” and “This is Poland,” and some wearing pro-Trump paraphernalia. Nawrocki defined his campaign in terms of resisting liberal ideology, EU migration policies, and attacks on Polish sovereignty.

The outcome of the next election is regarded as pivotal to Prime Minister Tusk’s reform agenda. Tusk, since coming to power in 2023, has attempted to roll back alterations implemented by the earlier Law and Justice government, which were heavily criticized by the European Union as democratic regression.

As polls narrow, the verdict is uncertain. The mood of voters, particularly among undecided and young voters, may decide whether Poland becomes more liberal in its European integration or holds on to nationalist conservatism.

Prime Minister Tusk confirmed ongoing checks, while NATO remains alert to Baltic infrastructure threats.
</excerpt>

Poland is investigating whether explosive charges could have been laid in the Baltic Sea after a suspicious Russian ship, said to belong to the so-called ‘shadow fleet’, was seen sailing close to an undersea electric power cable connecting Poland and Sweden, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Thursday.

The 600-megawatt cable links Karlshamn on Sweden’s coast to Ustka in northern Poland, enabling the two nations to exchange electricity when prices are more attractive within one system. The incident quickly sparked concerns because of how close the Russian ship came to this important infrastructure.

We are still looking into whether explosives were placed anywhere and it has to be examined very thoroughly. ORP Heweliusz (Polish hydrographic ship) is still at sea (doing so), and currently there are no alarming signals,” Tusk told journalists during a meeting with Polish Navy commanders.

Tusk also commended the peace and measured response to the crisis: “I am truly very satisfied that in a very effective, quiet manner, without employing unnecessary measures, we succeeded in dissuading the ship from taking any kinetic steps capable of inflicting damage on the power cable.”

Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz further stated that a Polish patrol plane had chased away the suspicious ship on Wednesday, and the ORP Heweliusz was subsequently sent to the location to evaluate the situation.

The term ‘shadow fleet’ is used to describe a fleet of ships Russia employs to ship oil, weapons, and grains in an effort to evade international sanctions placed upon it for its war against Ukraine.

NATO has already increased security in the Baltic area after a series of attacks on or sabotage of underwater facilities—everything from power and telecom cables to gas pipelines, since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Russia’s embassy in Warsaw refused to comment on this. In past cases, Moscow has dismissed any sort of undersea sabotage in the Baltic Sea, blaming the West for using such allegations to restrict its seaborne oil shipments.

Her viral post sparked mixed reactions, some celebrated the convenience, while others criticized the exploitative model and underpaid workers behind such fast services.
</excerpt>

One Polish tourist was left gobsmacked by India’s lightning-fast delivery system fuelled by apps such as Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart. Posting her experience on Instagram, Wiktoria, in the meantime known as wiktoriawanders, shared a video revealing that she had ordered a watermelon for a mere $0.50 (approximately Rs. 42.58) through Blinkit—and then got it in under five minutes.

In the video, Wiktoria can be seen sitting on her bed, slicing the watermelon in half and eating it raw using a spoon. She also uncovered some of her other shopping, which was a mango and two water bottles. Her video caption read: “India lives in the future. Like wdym I can order fruits for $0.50 and have it delivered to my door in 5 min?”

Wiktoria shared her excitement in the post, captioning, “Can’t believe we don’t have that everywhere ????. (We do have it in Poland tho ????????????). I love Indian apps ????. Day or night, I can order fruits, a cake, Uno, or literally any random thing I need ????”

Mixed Reactions Online

There were also cultural jabs and arguments in the comments. A user commented, “The audacity you people have after learning yoga, mindfulness, meditation, healing chakras from our culture, and then crying in the comment section. Madness.” Others ridiculed the West’s shock at fundamental comforts, with one comment saying, “Sorry but why Americans are crying in comment section ooo I get it they have never seen fresh fruits and veggies.”

India’s Quick-Commerce Boom

Some users came to the defense of India’s quick-commerce innovation, surprised that others did not have similar speedy delivery systems. “You guys don’t have that in the west?” they asked, with another noting, “Didi discovered Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.”

The fire, targeting Vietnamese businesses, is seen as part of Russian sabotage attempts.
</excerpt>

Polish authorities formally accused Russian spy agencies last month of starting the huge blaze which gutted one of Warsaw’s largest shopping malls last year. The May 2024 inferno completely devastated the Marywilska shopping complex, where some 1,400 small businesses had offices most owned by members of Poland’s Vietnamese community.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared on Sunday on social media that Polish intelligence concluded the fire had been caused by arson, which was allegedly ordered by Russia’s special services. “We now know for certain that the great fire of the Marywilska shopping centre in Warsaw was caused by arson ordered by the Russian special services,” he wrote.

Both ministries, in a joint statement, confirmed that many of the persons suspected of staging the attack were already in police custody, although others are on the loose. The operation, they added, was “prepared and coordinated by an individual located in the territory of the Russian Federation.” The Polish authorities, too, were cooperating closely with the Lithuanian authorities because some of the suspects are known to have attempted similar acts of sabotage there.

Since Russia launched its all-out invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Poland a vocal NATO and EU member has witnessed a rising number of alleged Moscow-linked sabotage attempts. Warsaw’s authorities have already arrested suspects for committing cases of arson, violence, and espionage purportedly on Russian intelligence’s behalf.

As a counter to mounting threats, Poland has increasingly hardened its position against Russia, limiting the activities of Russian diplomats and closing consular offices, including the Russian consulate in Poznan. In response, Russia closed Poland’s consulate in St. Petersburg in January.

Being one of the principal nodes of Western military support for Ukraine, Poland has been of prime strategic interest to make it a priority target in what the authorities have called Russia’s “hybrid war” against the West.

</excerpt>

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that his government is developing a plan to provide large-scale military training for every adult male in the country, aiming to build a reserve force of up to 500,000 soldiers, including reservists. Speaking at a security address in the Sejm on Friday, Tusk emphasized the need for robust preparedness amid rising regional tensions, particularly as Russia continues its assault on Ukraine. He noted that while Poland’s current active military comprises about 200,000 soldiers, recent plans to expand the force to 220,000—and eventually 300,000—fall short of the nation’s new strategic requirements.

Adopting a Swiss-Style Reserve and Exploring Nuclear Options

Tusk clarified that his government is not considering a return to universal military conscription but is instead exploring a reserve model similar to Switzerland’s system, where every adult male receives military training and women can volunteer. He also suggested that Poland should consider modernizing its defense capabilities by exploring nuclear and unconventional weapon options. This proposal comes amid discussions on the global stage, as Western allies express concern that a nuclear-armed Iran and a resurgent Russia threaten regional stability.

Opposition Voices and Constitutional Reforms

Adding fuel to the debate, opposition leader Jaroslaw Kaczyński stressed that a societal shift is needed toward embracing a chivalric ethos where every man is prepared to defend his country—even at great personal risk. Meanwhile, President Andrzej Duda announced an amendment to the Polish constitution that would require the country to spend at least 4 percent of its GDP on defense annually. With Poland’s defense expenditure projected to reach 4.7 percent this year, these measures underscore the nation’s urgent commitment to bolstering its security in an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment.

Poland, a NATO member, activated its air defense systems and deployed fighter jets, as it raised the highest state of alert for its ground-based air defense and radar systems.

Blasts were reported in Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia and the Black Sea port of Odesa, with air raid sirens sounding nationwide. Ukrainian officials confirmed that a number of regions, including the capital Kyiv, had their power cut off as a precautionary measure. The scale and full extent of the attack remain unclear, but Ukrainian air forces warned residents to take cover as missiles flew through Ukrainian airspace.

This missile strike followed an overnight drone attack on Kyiv, which caused a residential building to catch fire, injuring at least one person. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, according to Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Ukraine has been on high alert for weeks, bracing for intensified Russian missile attacks as winter approaches. In the past, Russian assaults have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing widespread power outages across the country.

</excerpt>

The United States is set to inaugurate a new air defense base in northern Poland on Wednesday, as the Polish government aims to assure citizens of NATO’s commitment to their security, especially following Donald Trump’s recent presidential victory.

Located in Redzikowo, near Poland’s Baltic coast, this long-planned base is seen as a testament to the enduring military alliance between Poland and the US, regardless of political changes in Washington. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski emphasized the project’s significance in a video posted on X, saying, “This construction proves the geostrategic resolve of the United States.”

Polish President Andrzej Duda, who has underscored his close ties with Trump, is expected to attend the opening ceremony. The Kremlin has labeled the new base as an attempt to “contain Russia” by expanding American military presence near its borders. Trump’s critical remarks on NATO, including his statement that the US might withhold defense from allies not meeting defense spending requirements, have created unease within the alliance. However, Poland, as one of NATO’s top defense spenders, is confident in its security guarantees.

The Redzikowo base forms part of NATO’s broader missile defense system known as “Aegis Ashore,” which aims to intercept short- and intermediate-range ballistic missiles. Other elements of this defense network include a second site in Romania, US Navy destroyers stationed in Spain’s Rota port, and an early-warning radar in Kurecik, Turkey. NATO insists that this missile shield is purely defensive.

Although Moscow expressed concerns about the base as early as 2007, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted on Monday that Poland would discuss with NATO and the US expanding the shield’s scope. According to NATO sources, the current radar setup in Poland is configured for missile threats from the Middle East, and reconfiguring it to monitor Russia would require policy adjustments

Later Wednesday, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte is scheduled to meet with President Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw to discuss the expanded defense capabilities and ongoing security cooperation.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk claims that the asylum process is being exploited by Belarusian authorities and smugglers, prompting the need for stringent measures to control the border.
</excerpt>

Poland plans to temporarily suspend the right to asylum as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at curbing irregular migration, particularly due to rising tensions with Belarus. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this measure, accusing Belarus of facilitating the movement of migrants across their shared border.

During a recent congress of his liberal Civic Coalition (KO), Tusk stated, “One of the elements of the migration strategy will be the temporary territorial suspension of the right to asylum.” He emphasized the need for recognition of this decision across Europe, asserting that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and people smugglers are exploiting the asylum process, undermining its fundamental purpose.

The issue of migration has gained significant attention in Poland since a border crisis in 2021, which saw thousands of asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Syria, and the Kurdish region of Iraq attempting to enter Poland via Belarus. Both Warsaw and the European Union have characterized the situation as a crisis orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.

Belarusian authorities reportedly facilitated the travel of migrants from the Middle East to Belarus through tourist agencies, leading them to believe they could easily access the European Union. Thousands received tourist visas to fly to Minsk, subsequently heading toward the Polish border.

Tusk is set to present the migration strategy at a government meeting on October 15, coinciding with the first anniversary of his coalition’s election victory. Since taking office in December 2023, Tusk has implemented stringent migration policies that have garnered widespread public support but disappointed activists hoping for a shift from the previous nationalist government’s stance.

Marysia Zlonkiewicz from the NGO Grupa Granica criticized the planned asylum suspension as unconstitutional, warning it would drive migrants into the hands of smugglers. “Prime Minister Tusk is violating the constitution that he promised to defend … You cannot selectively exclude or deprive people of constitutional rights,” she stated.

Poland has faced accusations of “pushbacks” against non-European refugees and migrants attempting to enter the country via a designated “red zone” along the border with Belarus. Although the red zone was closed in 2022 after the construction of a steel wall, it was reopened in 2024 following the death of a Polish soldier on the border.

Poland and the Czech Republic face significant destruction, with evacuations in affected areas. Major infrastructure, including bridges and homes, has been damaged. Efforts are underway for cleanup and aid, with governments seeking European Union support.

The border regions between the Czech Republic and Poland have been hit hardest, with heavy rains causing rivers to overflow, damaging infrastructure and property.

At least 17 people have died from the flooding, which has impacted areas from Romania to Poland. In southern Poland, the mayor of Nysa urged immediate evacuations after a floodbank was breached. In the Czech city of Ostrava, flooding caused by a broken barrier affected industrial areas, including chemical and coking plants, leading to more evacuations.

In Litovel, Czech Republic, floodwaters submerged 70% of the town, causing widespread panic among residents. The Polish government has declared a state of natural disaster and allocated 1 billion zlotys ($260 million) for relief efforts. Prime Minister Donald Tusk is coordinating with other affected countries and seeking EU financial aid.

The destruction is described as apocalyptic by locals, with entire towns cut off due to the loss of bridges. Cleanup efforts have begun in areas like Jesenik, Czech Republic, where streets are littered with debris and damaged vehicles.

Flooding has also affected eastern Romania, where villages have been submerged, leaving some residents with only their clothes. In Austria, the situation remains critical with rivers and reservoirs at high levels, and up to 12,000 soldiers on standby in Hungary as they prepare for potential flooding.

The impact of the floods continues to evolve, with many areas still on alert as more heavy rain is anticipated.

Heavy rains over the past week have caused widespread destruction, particularly in border areas between Poland and the Czech Republic. Collapsed bridges, evacuations, and power outages have left authorities scrambling for aid and cleanup.

At least 15 people have been killed in the floods, which have affected countries from Austria to Romania. Poland’s government planned to declare a state of disaster, with towns like Klodzko still struggling. Mayor Michal Piszko reported receding waters but said the need for emergency supplies, such as bottled water and dry food, remains high. Schools have been closed, and parts of the city remain without electricity.

In the Czech Republic, floodwaters receded in Jesenik, revealing damaged cars and debris. However, larger cities remain on alert, including Wroclaw, Poland, where officials expect water levels to peak by Wednesday. In Litovel, nearly 70% of the town was submerged, and schools and hospitals were closed.

The floods have also taken a toll in Romania, where towns were submerged, and six people have died. Austria and Hungary remain vigilant as rising rivers threaten major cities like Budapest and Bratislava. Austria is preparing for more rainfall, which could trigger a second wave of flooding in the coming hours.

In total, more than 12,000 people have been evacuated in the Czech Republic, and many towns in Poland, Romania, and Austria are on high alert. With more rain expected, the region is bracing for further damage.

</excerpt>

During his visit to Warsaw, Poland, on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s commitment to working with friendly nations to support the early restoration of peace and stability in Ukraine and West Asia. Modi highlighted that conflicts in these regions are of deep concern and reiterated India’s belief that no problem can be solved on the battlefield. Instead, he advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the means to achieve lasting peace.

Speaking after his talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Modi expressed India’s readiness to provide all possible support in facilitating peace efforts. He underscored the importance of preventing the loss of innocent lives, which has become a significant challenge for humanity.

Tusk welcomed Modi’s involvement, viewing his visit as a potential step towards a peace process, especially with Modi’s upcoming visit to Kyiv. Tusk acknowledged that India could play a crucial and positive role in ending the war in Ukraine.

Modi’s visit to Kyiv, scheduled for Friday, is being closely watched for any role India might play in mediating between Russia and Ukraine. India has maintained a balanced stance on the conflict, abstaining from voting on most Ukraine-related resolutions at the United Nations and refraining from publicly criticizing Russia’s actions. Despite facing criticism for its purchase of discounted Russian commodities, India has consistently called for a return to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict.

Ukraine has encouraged India to take on a more prominent role in peace efforts, given its close ties with Russia and its influence as a leader of the Global South. The discussions between Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are expected to focus on Zelenskyy’s peace formula and the broader efforts to bring an end to the conflict.

The visit to Poland, scheduled for August 21-22, marks a significant occasion as it will be the first time an Indian PM has visited the country in 45 years, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland. Following this, Modi will undertake a historic visit to Ukraine on August 23, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Ukraine in over 30 years.

Notably, Modi’s journey from Poland to Kyiv will be made aboard the “Rail Force One,” the same train used by US President Joe Biden during his surprise visit to Kyiv in February 2023. This diesel-powered train, operated by Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), features wood-paneled cabins equipped for executive-level work and has been a preferred mode of transport for several world leaders visiting Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.

The train journey, spanning 20 hours from Poland to Ukraine, underscores the logistical challenges posed by the war. With Ukraine’s airspace closed and many roads inaccessible due to heavy fighting, the railway has emerged as the safest and most reliable means of transportation for diplomatic missions. Despite its relative safety, the journey is not without risks, as Russian missile strikes have targeted railway infrastructure.

The “Rail Force One” has become a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience, with its vast rail network playing a crucial role in the country’s wartime logistics, including the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid. The train’s use by high-profile figures highlights the ongoing “iron diplomacy” that has seen over 200 foreign diplomatic missions arrive in Ukraine by rail since the war began.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India’s approach now is to cultivate equal relationships with all nations, shifting from its previous policy of remaining equidistant.

While addressing Indian community members in Warsaw, PM Modi said, “For decades, India had a policy to maintain distance from all the countries. However, the policy of today’s India is to have equal closeness with all countries. The India of today wants to connect with all. Today’s India talks about the development of all. Today’s India is with all and thinks about the interests of all.”

“We are proud that today, world respects India as ‘Vishwabandhu’. You also feel the same here. My information is correct, right? he asked the crowd. The eager audience responded affirmatively.

“For us, it is not about geopolitics. It is about our values. For people, who did not get a place anywhere, India gave them a place in their hearts and their land. This is our heritage and every Indian is proud of it. Poland has been a witness to India’s Santanbhav,” he added.

The prime minister also reminisced about how Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, provided refuge to Polish women and children during World War II. He noted that the Jam Saheb is still honoured as the ‘Good Maharaja’ in Poland.

“Jam Saheb is still remembered as ‘Dobry or Good Maharaja’ in Poland. During World War II, when Poland faced difficulties, when thousands of women and children from Poland were wandering from place to place for shelter, Jam Saheb, Digvijay Singh Ranjit Singh Jadeja ji came forward. He had built a special camp for Polish women and children, and he told the women and children of the camp that just as the people of Nava Nagar call me Bapu, I am your Bapu too,” he stated.

“I have been meeting family members of Jam Saheb. They have showered me with love. A few months ago, I went to meet present Jam Saheb, his room still has an image related to Poland. I am happy to know that Jam Saheb’s path has been kept alive by Poland,” he added.

He also highlighted that the Indian Diaspora has played a crucial role in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. PM Modi mentioned that Poland was among the first nations to assist Gujarat following the earthquake there 20 years ago. Additionally, he talked about his visits to the Good Maharaja Memorial and the Kolhapur Memorial in Warsaw.

“Two decades ago, when an earthquake happened in Gujarat, Jamnagar too was affected. At that time, Poland was one of the first nations that reached Gujarat to provide help. In Poland also, people have given immense love and respect to Jam Saheb. This was clearly reflected at the Good Maharaja Square in Warsaw. Sometime back, I also visited Dobry (Good) Maharaja Memorial and Kolhapur Memorial in Warsaw,” he said.

PM Modi also revealed that India will launch the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Exchange Program.

He said, “India is going to start the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Exchange programme. Under this programme, India will invite 20 Polish youths annually to visit India. This way, Poland youth will get to learn more about India.”

Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception he received in Poland, he remarked , “You all have come here from different parts of Poland. Everyone has different languages, dialects, food habits, but you all are connected with the feeling of Indianness. You have given me such a wonderful welcome here, I am very grateful to all of you, to the people of Poland, for this welcome.”

PM Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday, becoming the first Indian leader to visit the Central European nation in 45 years. His trip to Warsaw coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland. The enthusiastic Indian diaspora greeted Prime Minister Modi at the Raffles Europejski Warsaw Hotel, arriving even before his arrival for his two-day state visit. The crowd gave him a warm and spirited welcome, and members of the Indian diaspora expressed their happiness and admiration for PM Modi’s role in India’s development.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Deeply touched by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Poland! Their energy embodies the strong ties that bind our nations.”

Members of the Indian diaspora welcomed PM Modi, who responded warmly to their affection. The Prime Minister waved to the crowd and shook hands with some attendees. The Indian community raised slogans praising PM Modi, as well as chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

He emphasized the growing cooperation in fields like technology and clean energy and highlighted the cultural connection through Kabaddi, as Poland prepares to host its first Kabaddi Championship. Addressing the Indian community in Warsaw, Modi shared, “Innovation and youth are going to give energy to the development of both nations,” adding that the social security agreement would benefit many Indians living in Poland.

Modi underscored the global influence of India’s values and culture, referring to the ancient concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and reiterated India’s global vision during its G20 leadership, focusing on “One Earth, One Family, and One Future.” He also pointed to the thriving partnership between India and Poland, mentioning his upcoming meetings with Polish leaders, including President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, aimed at further strengthening bilateral ties.

He spoke of India’s vast democratic exercise, citing the recent elections where over 640 million Indians cast their votes, a remarkable achievement in democracy. He also acknowledged the role of Kabaddi as a bridge between the two nations, congratulating Poland on its Kabaddi success and the upcoming championship.

The Prime Minister outlined India’s ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, reflecting on significant progress in areas like poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, digital inclusion, and broadband expansion. He highlighted India’s achievements, including building millions of homes, opening 500 million bank accounts, and pioneering advancements in digital transactions, 5G technology, and public transportation.

Modi projected India’s growing economic power, with the country poised to become the third-largest economy, driven by innovation in areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy, and manufacturing. He stressed the importance of balancing economic growth with ecological responsibility, citing India’s rapid adoption of electric vehicles and its commitment to green hydrogen.

In his closing remarks, Modi emphasized India’s shift from maintaining distance to fostering closer ties with all nations. He lauded the global efforts of Indians, noting their contributions in times of crisis and their empathetic spirit, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed gratitude to the Indian diaspora in Poland and the Polish government for their support, particularly during the Ukraine conflict when Indian students were stranded.

Modi’s visit to Poland marks a historic milestone, the first by an Indian leader in 45 years, as the two nations celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. The Indian diaspora warmly welcomed Modi, with chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” as he engaged with the community, strengthening the bonds between India and Poland.

This visit marks Modi as the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Poland in nearly 45 years, following Morarji Desai’s visit in 1979.

Upon his arrival in Warsaw, Modi paid tribute at several memorials, including the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial, honoring the Polish women and children sheltered by Indian princely states during World War II. His visit to Poland highlights the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and focuses on strengthening economic and defence cooperation.

Modi’s tour is set to make history again as he becomes the first Indian head of government to visit Ukraine since its independence in 1991. The visit to Kyiv, scheduled for August 23, will involve extensive discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on bilateral cooperation and the ongoing conflict. There is speculation that Modi may carry a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Zelenskyy, given India’s ongoing diplomatic engagements with both nations.

India has maintained a neutral stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, abstaining from most Ukraine-related resolutions at the UN, while advocating for an end to hostilities and a return to diplomacy. Modi’s upcoming discussions with Zelenskyy will be closely watched for any potential steps India might take to facilitate a peaceful resolution.

The visit to Poland and Ukraine underscores India’s growing role in international diplomacy and its efforts to balance relationships with key global powers amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

</excerpt>

Members of the Indian community in Lodz, Poland, are eagerly anticipating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Warsaw. Indians in Lodz commended PM Modi for his contributions to India. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Monday that PM Modi will officially visit Poland and Ukraine from August 21-23. This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 45 years. Enthusiastic crowds waving Indian flags chanted “Modi Modi.”

In an interview with ANI, Rahul, a member of the Indian community, expressed their excitement and readiness to welcome PM Modi, praising his efforts in evacuating Indians from Ukraine during the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv in 2022.

Rahul said, “I welcome him with all my heart. We were waiting for PM Modi to visit Poland, as he used to visit other nations. And today that day has come and I welcome him with all my heart.”

He added, “After the war in Ukraine started, they had evacuated so many Indians who were trapped. Some of the people we knew were also evacuated. They had evacuated them through Operation Ganga. The evacuation was possible due to Modi Ji, otherwise, it would have been very difficult. Aaj Modi hai to mumkin hai.”

PM Modi’s visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland, which were established in 1954. This anniversary marks the opening of the Indian Embassy in Warsaw in 1957 and the Polish Embassy in New Delhi in 1954.

Another member of the Indian community, Jaimeel Bhatt said, “We are very excited and we will go to welcome him.”

Manoj Variani, an Indian community member, expressed his anticipation for PM Modi’s visit to Poland and praised him for his accomplishments in India.

He said, “I have been here for 25 years and I was waiting for PM Modi’s visit to Poland. Finally, he is visiting Poland and we welcome him. Modi Ji has made our country a lot better. I hope that Modi Ji remains in power for the next 10-20 years. We Indians live here very well. Modi Ji has done a very good job.”

Pawan Kumar, a member of the Indian community who has resided in Poland for the past 20 years, stated that they are eagerly anticipating PM Modi’s visit, describing it as “a great honour” for them.

He said, “I have been in Poland for past 20 years. I am very excited for PM Modi’s arrival. PM Modi has done very good work for the country. We want him to come here and strengthen the relations between Poland and India. We are proud of India’s development and the fact that India is becoming very famous in Poland. We are very proud that we are Indians. We are very happy that PM Modi is coming here and this is a great honour for us. We want him to come here and are very excited for his visit.”

On August 20, MEA Secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal announced that PM Modi would be visiting Poland at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, describing the visit as a “landmark visit”.

While addressing a special briefing on Monday, Tanmaya Lal said, “PM Narendra Modi will be undertaking an official visit to Poland this week on 21st and 22nd August on the invitation of PM Donald Tusk. This is a landmark visit as the PM of Indian is visiting Poland after 45 years. This visit takes place as we also mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations.”

“This historic visit in a landmark year for India and Polish relations will provide an opportunity to our leaders to review the bilateral relationship and offer guidance on enhancing this relationship in diverse areas and also discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest,” he added.

He reflected on the long-standing relationship between India and Poland, noting Poland’s support in evacuating Indian students from Ukraine during the 2022 conflict. He also mentioned a historical episode from the 1940s, when more than 6,000 Polish women and children were granted refuge in the princely states of Jamnagar and Kolhapur.

“Indian community in Poland estimated at around 25,000. This includes around 5,000 students. The government and people of Poland had offered valuable assistance during ‘Operation Ganga’ for the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine. More than 4,000 Indian students were evacuated via Poland in 2022. One of the unique bonds between our countries relates to the time in the 1940s during World War 2 when more than 6,000 Polish women and children found refuge in two princely states in India – Jamnagar and Kolhapur,” Tanmaya Lal said.

The MEA Secretary announced that during his visit, PM Modi will meet with his Polish counterpart and president, and will also engage with the Indian community in Poland. He will receive a ceremonial welcome in Warsaw. Following his visit to Poland, PM Modi will proceed to Ukraine.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a two day visit to Poland for two days starting Wednesday (August 21), marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over forty years. After Poland, he will travel to Ukraine. This trip is particularly significant given the current geopolitical tensions.

India and Poland have a long history of friendly relations, dating back to the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1954. Both nations share a common stance against colonialism, imperialism, and racism, as noted by the Indian Embassy in Warsaw.

Historically, during World War II, Indian Maharajas provided refuge to Polish refugees. The Maharaja of Jamnagar (now Jamnagar, Gujarat) sheltered over 1,000 Polish refugees, mainly children, in a place called Balachadi. Similarly, a Polish refugee camp was established in Valivade, Kolhapur (now in Maharashtra) under the rule of Bhosale Chatrapati.

After the fall of Communism, Poland shifted its focus towards strengthening ties with the United States, which led to a decline in relations with India. Despite this, Poland has remained India’s largest trading and investment partner in Central and Eastern Europe, with bilateral trade increasing from $1.95 billion in 2013 to $5.72 billion in 2023. Additionally, around 10,000 to 15,000 Indians live and work in Poland across various sectors.

Modi’s visit to Poland is noteworthy as he is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit since Morarji Desai in 1979, and before him, Jawaharlal Nehru in 1955 and Indira Gandhi in 1967. During his visit, Modi will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw to discuss defense collaboration, trade, and strategic alignment. He will also engage with the Indian community in Poland and visit memorials dedicated to the Maharajas of Jamnagar and Kolhapur. Additionally, Modi is expected to visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the memorial for the Battle of Monte Cassino, where Indian and Polish soldiers fought together during World War II.

This visit is particularly relevant in the context of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. India, maintaining a neutral stance in the conflict and emphasizing diplomacy and dialogue, has not criticized Russia despite its close ties with Moscow. Poland, a strong supporter of Ukraine and a NATO member, is increasing its defense spending, which aligns with India’s interest in enhancing military collaboration. Modi’s visit is expected to strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Poland and potentially elevate their ties to a new level.

It will demonstrate India’s commitment to peace, dialogue, the UN Charter, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. In […]
</excerpt>

Sebastian Domzalski, Poland’s Charge d’Affaires, has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visits to Poland and Ukraine, in the context of the ongoing Moscow-Kyiv conflict, will send a “powerful signal” to the global community. It will demonstrate India’s commitment to peace, dialogue, the UN Charter, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.

In an interview with ANI, Domzalski expressed his approval of PM Modi’s decision to visit both Poland and Ukraine, highlighting Ukraine’s defence of its borders against “unlawful aggression.”

When asked about the significance of PM Modi’s visit amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Domzalski said, “I think it’s very significant. We are really happy that Prime Minister Modi has decided to visit Poland. But we are also glad that he will be combining this visit to Poland with a visit to Ukraine, our neighbour, which is defending its borders against unlawful aggression.”

He added, “This visit by Prime Minister Modi at this important time will send a powerful signal to the global community that India stands for peace, dialogue, negotiations, the UN Charter, and sovereignty and territorial integrity. Of course, there are ongoing diplomatic efforts to end this conflict and the war. As our foreign minister also says, at the moment, negotiations are taking place on the battlefield. Let’s see what the outcome will be, but we hope for a just and peaceful resolution of the war. From our perspective, this war could end very quickly if Russian forces withdraw. The decision lies with the Kremlin.”

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Poland and Ukraine from August 21-23. This will mark the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years and will coincide with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New Delhi and Warsaw in 2024.

Regarding PM Modi’s visit to Poland, Domzalski remarked, “We are really happy about the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to Poland. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our country since 1979. The significance of this visit cannot be understated. We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Modi to Poland. As you mentioned, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, and we will discuss the history of our collaboration over the past 70 years. But we will also focus on the future and explore new avenues of cooperation.”

Domzalski highlighted that PM Modi’s visit to Poland will focus on three key areas: technology, security, and defence. He also noted that Poland has significantly transformed its economy over the past 30-35 years.

When asked about the focus areas during PM Modi’s visit, he said, “I believe there will be three priority areas: technology, security, and defence. Both countries are looking to upgrade and modernise their economies. Poland has developed very quickly over the past 30-35 years, and we are now one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union. In fact, our latest quarterly data shows that we are the fastest-growing economy in the EU.”

He added, “If Prime Minister Modi visits Poland, he will see that we also talk a lot about ‘Vikas’ (development) and ‘Pragati’ (progress) in Poland. Technology will be a key focus, as will security, given the current situation in Europe and the global attention it has garnered. Security will be high on the agenda, and Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Tusk will discuss this. Of course, defence will also be a topic of discussion. Let’s see what announcements will be made.”

The Polish diplomat also discussed India’s role in the ongoing conflict, calling it a “voice of the world.” He underscored that India is emerging as a significant global power and is increasingly important on the international stage.

When asked about India’s role in contributing to peace and PM Modi’s recent remarks during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Domzalski said, “I think India has an important role to play. India is a rising global power and a leader on the world stage. We saw the significance of India’s G20 presidency. As the most populous democracy, India is indeed the voice of the world.”

During his July 9 meeting with Putin, PM Modi emphasised that resolutions cannot be found through warfare and that peace talks cannot progress amidst the turmoil of bombs, guns, and bullets.

Discussing economic cooperation between India and Poland, Domzalski said, “Economic cooperation will be very important. I was here during the last visit of the Polish Prime Minister to India, which took place in 2010. At that time, I was responsible for economic cooperation, so trade and investments are very close to my heart. I believe economic cooperation plays a crucial role in bringing India and Poland closer together. We are seeing a significant increase in Indian investments in Poland.”

He continued, “I also see growing interest in investing in Poland. Just this year, two major investments have been announced, one in lithium-ion batteries and the other in optical fibres. Traditionally, Poland has been a destination for Indian companies, particularly in BPO and IT sectors. They continue to be successful here and are looking to expand their presence. We are also witnessing increasing interest from Polish companies in investing in India. Almost every week, we have meetings with Polish entrepreneurs interested in expanding into India, and many have already established a significant presence there.”

Domzalski also emphasised the strong people-to-people connections between India and Poland, recalling how Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja sheltered thousands of Polish refugees during World War II. He noted that Jam Saheb is affectionately referred to as the “Good Maharaja” in Poland.

Speaking about the historical ties between India and Poland, he said, “This is also very significant. We have several chapters in our history that show the close people-to-people contacts between our countries. The story of the ‘Good Maharaja,’ Jam Saheb, is one of them. I believe Prime Minister Modi, who comes from Gujarat, will highlight this story during his visit. He recently mentioned it in a speech in Jamnagar, where he acknowledged that Jam Saheb planted the seeds for Indo-Polish cooperation. In Poland, there is a square named after the ‘Good Maharaja,’ and a school bears his name. There is also an exchange program between Rajkot and Warsaw, where students visit each other annually to keep this story alive. Some people in Poland still remember the ‘Good Maharaja.’ I hope Prime Minister Modi will also be able to witness this part of our shared history.”

Regarding Poland’s support for India’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council, Domzalski said, “When Prime Minister Modi visits Poland, I am sure we will discuss bilateral issues, but we will also talk about global issues. UN Security Council reform is high on our agenda. We agree that India, being the most populous country in the world, should be a permanent member of the UN Security Council. We need to reform the Security Council, and we hope that after the reform, the voices of countries that are currently underrepresented will be heard.”

He also noted that the Indian diaspora in Poland is eager to meet PM Modi and highlighted the substantial impact of the Indian community on the Polish economy.

When asked if PM Modi’s schedule includes a meeting with the Indian diaspora, he said, “As far as I understand, yes, there is a plan for a meeting. The Indian diaspora in Poland is always eager to meet the Prime Minister. Some of them have been living in Poland for over 40 years, and they are well-established and well-connected. Their contribution to the Polish economy is highly appreciated.”

When asked about the significance of PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine following his recent visit to Russia, Domzalski said, “This is for the Ukrainian ambassador to comment on, but from the Polish perspective, this visit is also a very significant and powerful signal. We are all eagerly awaiting some important announcements and welcome India’s role in bridging gaps and resolving the conflict.”

Earlier in July, PM Modi made an official visit to Russia, where he was greeted at the airport by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturov. During the visit, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. India has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the means to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

</excerpt>

Spanish freelance journalist Pablo González, who had been detained in Poland, was released and welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This swap is considered the largest of its kind since the Soviet era.

González, who was covering the refugee crisis at the Polish-Ukrainian border during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, was arrested by Polish security agents just days after the invasion began. He was accused of being a Russian GRU military intelligence agent involved in espionage against Poland. Despite being held for over two years without trial, his case drew widespread attention and criticism for the lack of detailed accusations and the manner of his detention by Polish authorities.

The recent prisoner exchange, which led to González’s release, has intensified speculation about his true identity and role. Born Pavel Rubtsov in Moscow, González moved to Spain at the age of nine, becoming a Spanish citizen and later pursuing a career in journalism. His work as a freelance journalist allowed him to travel extensively, covering stories in countries like Ukraine and Georgia. However, his luxurious lifestyle and access to sensitive locations raised questions about his activities.

González’s arrest and subsequent detention sparked significant protests, with supporters organizing rallies in Spain and managing social media accounts like @FreePabloGonzález. Reporters Without Borders and other advocacy groups criticized his detention, calling for his release and highlighting concerns about press freedom.

Despite the allegations against him, González’s supporters argued that his detention was unjust and that he was being targeted for his journalistic work. With his release now secured, González, who still holds Spanish citizenship, has the right to return to the European Union.

As the world watches, the next moves of Pablo González remain uncertain. His release has not only reignited debates about his identity and activities but also underscored the complexities of international relations and the ongoing challenges faced by journalists in conflict zones.

</excerpt>

On Monday, Belarus and China has commenced 11-day joint military training exercises, according to Belarus’ defense ministry. The exercises, named as “Attacking Falcon,” are taking place near the city of Brest, close to the Polish border, a NATO and European Union member state.

Major General Vadim Denisenko of the Belarusian military announced on Telegram that the joint anti-terrorist training will involve military personnel from both nations acting together as a single unit in various stages. He emphasized the complexity of current global events and the importance of learning new warfare methods. “Here we will work out all these moments considering all that is new that has been learned in the past two years,” Denisenko stated.

The training ground’s proximity to both the Polish and Ukrainian borders adds to the geopolitical tension. The exercises occur amidst Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, which has heightened regional security concerns. Additionally, Belarus and China have strengthened their ties in recent years under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, both of whom are close allies of Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

The start of the “Attacking Falcon” exercises coincided with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Warsaw, where he signed a security agreement with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. It also began on the eve of NATO’s 75th anniversary summit in Washington, a gathering aimed at bolstering support for Ukraine over two years since Russia’s invasion.

NATO and the EU have long accused Belarus of using its border to push asylum-seekers into neighboring countries, viewing it as a provocative tactic. The joint military exercises are likely to be seen as further provocation. NATO has yet to comment on the drills.

Belarus has played a crucial role as a Russian ally in the war against Ukraine. Moscow used Belarus as a launching pad for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, following joint military exercises that amassed troops on the Ukrainian border. Last year, Putin announced plans to place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

China has emerged as a significant diplomatic and economic supporter of Russia since the invasion, despite accusations from Western leaders that Beijing has been aiding Moscow’s war effort through the provision of dual-use goods—a charge Beijing denies.

Belarus’ Ministry of Defense reported that troops from China’s People’s Liberation Army arrived in Belarus over the weekend. Photographs were released showing Chinese troops unloading equipment from a military cargo aircraft. The drills, set to last until July 19, will include “hostage rescue operations and counter-terrorism missions,” according to China’s Ministry of Defense. The aim is to enhance training levels and coordination capabilities while deepening practical cooperation between the two countries’ armies.

Over the weekend, delegations from China’s Central Military Commission held talks with counterparts in Minsk, discussing prospects for Belarusian-Chinese military personnel training and outlining new areas of cooperation.

This display of security cooperation follows Belarus’ recent entry into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), backed by Beijing and Moscow. Founded in 2001 to combat terrorism and promote border security, the SCO has expanded under Chinese and Russian leadership to become a counterweight to Western institutions.

Belarus’ inclusion in the SCO was praised by both Xi and Lukashenko during a meeting at an SCO summit in Kazakhstan last week. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his newly appointed Belarusian counterpart Maksim Ryzhenkov met in Beijing on Monday, reaffirming their mutual support on key issues and rejecting what they termed “unilateral hegemony,” a reference to their shared opposition to a U.S.-dominated world order.

The Japanese PM’s visit to Ukraine coincides with a state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow.

Kishida has shown respect and praised the courage and patience of the Ukrainian people, who are standing like rocks to defend their homeland under the leadership of President Zelenskyy.
Kishida has been visiting Ukraine following a two-day trip to India, during which he held delegation level bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a wide range of issues.
As he called India an “indispensable partner,” and said that Japan will expand cooperation for a Free and open Indo-Pacific.
Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Nations has said that Kyiv supports a “full and transparent investigation” into the missile that fell in Poland.

Sergiy Kyslytsya said in his statement to the UN Security Council on Wednesday that Ukraine expresses solidarity with the Polish people following the missile strike on the Polish village of Przewodow, which resulted in the deaths of two persons.

“Ukraine expresses its solidarity with brotherly Polish people following yesterday’s tragedy in the village of Przewodow, where two people were killed by missiles,” Sergiy Kyslytsya said. “We support a full and transparent investigation to establish all the facts of this tragic incident and we are ready to cooperate with the Polish side to contribute to this investigation,” he added.

Sergiy Kyslytsya claimed that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, which includes frequent missile assaults as a significant component, continues to be the “sole root cause of violence and human suffering in Ukraine” in his statement at the UNSC meeting on the “Maintenance of peace and security of Ukraine.”

Kyslytsya charged that Russia regularly suffers military and diplomatic setbacks and as “revenge,” it engages in “nasty attacks” against people. He emphasised that this is the “only sort of retaliation” available to Russia. According to Kyslytsya, approximately 400 Russian war crimes have been documented by investigators, and both civilian and military bodies have been discovered.

The missile that killed two people in Poland on Tuesday was allegedly fired by Ukrainian forces, according to NATO and Polish leaders. According to reports, the leaders claimed that the incident appeared to be an accident. The explosion happened outside of Przewodow, which is close to the Ukrainian border.

Notably, the missile landed in Poland roughly at the same time as Russia launched its missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. Polish President Andrzej Duda said while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, that there was a “high chance” it was an air defence missile from the Ukranian side.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General said, “Our preliminary analysis suggests that the incident was likely caused by a Ukrainian air defence missile fired to defend Ukrainian territory against Russian cruise missile attacks,” after attending North Atlantic Council’s meeting on Poland.

He stressed that the incident is not Uklraine’s fault and said, “But let me be clear. This is not Ukraine’s fault. Russia bears ultimate responsibility, as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine.”
