Lahore High Court Orders PMO To Halt Civil & Military Agencies From Contacting Judges

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Prime Minister’s Office ( to instruct all civil and military agencies, including Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to refrain from contacting or approaching any judge or their staff, according to a report by Dawn on Saturday.

Justice Shahid Karim issued these directives in response to a complaint from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge in Sargodha, who reported harassment after allegedly refusing to meet with intelligence agency officials, as reported by Dawn.

Karim stated, “Instructions shall go out by the Prime Minister’s Office to all civil or military agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau as well as Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), regarding strict directions not to approach or contact any judge, whether of the superior judiciary, subordinate judiciary, or any member of their staff in the future.”

Similar orders were issued for the Punjab police, requiring them to implement security measures for ATCs across Punjab and to download call-recording applications on their mobile phones. “[They] shall be bound to record all such calls which they receive and with regard to which the learned judges have apprehension that they have been made to influence any judicial proceedings before them,” Karim said.

The complaint from the Sargodha ATC judge involved his first day as in charge on June 7, when he was informed that “some authority of ISI” wanted to meet him in his chamber. After he denied the request, his family faced harassment, including damage to their gas meter and a manipulated electricity bill, according to Dawn.

Previously, on May 7, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail of Pakistan’s apex court criticized the government for not addressing alleged interference in judicial matters, as reported by Pakistan’s Geo News.

PM Modi Unveils Rs 7500 Cr Projects in Jhabua, MP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the groundwork for different developmental projects totaling Rs 7,500 crore in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his cabinet ministers.
The projects will benefit the region’s considerable indigenous population, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

“Prime Minister will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple initiatives that will benefit the significant tribal population of the region. Prime Minister will disburse monthly instalments of Aahar Anudan under Aahar Anudan Yojna to about two lakh women beneficiaries. Under this scheme, Rs 1,500 per month is provided for nutritious food to women of various especially backward tribes of Madhya Pradesh,” the PMO said in a statement.

Prime Minister Modi will also give 1.75 lakh Adhikar Abhilekh (records of rights) to SVAMITVA Scheme participants. “This will provide documentary evidence to people for the right to their land,” the PMO stated earlier.
He would also give Rs 55.90 crore to 559 villages through the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana and lay the groundwork for the ‘CM Rise School’ in Jhabua.

“The school will integrate technology to provide modern facilities like smart classes, e-Library etc to students,” PMO said.

The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for a number of projects aimed at improving water supply and drinking water provision in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the PMO, the projects for which the foundation stone will be laid include the ‘Talavada Project,’ which is a drinking water supply scheme for over a thousand villages in Dhar and Ratlam, and 14 urban water supply schemes under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, which will benefit over 50,000 urban households across multiple districts in Madhya Pradesh.

PMO : Union Cabinet approves proposal to celebrate August 23 as National Space Day

The proposal to designate August 23 as the “National Space Day” to commemorate the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 was approved by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The Union Cabinet joins the nation in congratulating Chandrayaan-3 on its historic success. The Cabinet recognizes the outstanding accomplishment of our scientists.

This is not just a victory for our space agency but is a bright symbol of India’s progress and ascent on the global stage. The Cabinet welcomes that 23rd August would be celebrated as the “National Space Day”, it said.
The Union Cabinet also congratulated the ISRO scientists for their efforts.
“The Cabinet congratulates the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its efforts. Thanks to our scientists, India is the first country to land near the Moon’s south pole. Landing on the moon, with predicted accuracy, in itself is a momentous achievement. Landing near the South Pole of the Moon, and overcoming the arduous conditions, is a testament to the spirit of our scientists, who for centuries have sought to push the boundaries of human knowledge”, the official statement added.

“PMO removed my pre-scheduled address…”: CM Gehlot ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Rajasthan today

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, announced that the PMO had taken the prime minister’s scheduled address out of the Sikar program in advance of his visit to the region.

The Rajasthan CMO informed them that Ashok Gehlot will not be able to join the program, adding that he is most welcome to join today’s program, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in response to CM Gehlot’s tweet. As per protocol, Asok Gehlot Ji, you have been properly invited and your speech has been scheduled. But according to your office, you won’t be able to attend. You have always been invited, and you have also graced those programs during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous visits. You’re welcome to participate in today’s program, the PMO tweeted.

PM Modi is to reach today for the inauguration and foundation laying of 12 medical colleges which are taking place in the partnership between the Rajasthan government and the Centre. The project cost of these medical colleges is Rs 3,689 crore, of which Rs 2,213 crore is the share of the Center and Rs 1,476 crore of the state government.

We have sent a one-time settlement proposal to the central government to waive off the loans of nationalized banks, in which we will give the farmers’ share. This demand should be fulfilled.

3. The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution for caste census. The Central Government should take a decision on this without any delay.

4. Due to the guidelines of NMC, the medical colleges being opened in our three districts are not getting any financial assistance from the central government. These are being built entirely with state funding. The central government should also give 60% funding to the medical colleges in these three tribal-dominated districts.

5. The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) should be given the status of a project of national importance. I request you to take a positive stand on these demands and assure the state litigants today.”

CM Gehlot further demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Central Government should take a decision on the caste census in Rajasthan.

PM Modi announces ex-gratia for those affected by Ludhiana gas leak

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured from the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) in the Ludhiana gas leak accident.

In a tweet posted on the official page of the PMO, the Prime Minister Modi expressed grief over the incident. “Expressing grief over the tragic incident due to gas leakage in Ludhiana, the Prime Minister @narendramodi has announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs 2 lakh through PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. 50,000 will be given to each injured person,” tweeted the PMO.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) investigating the Ludhiana gas leak case on Monday said the release of the hydrogen sulphide gas was the “possible reason” for the deaths.

“This accident happened due to the leak of hydrogen sulphide gas. However, as how the gas was formed remains a subject of investigation. The level of gas in the air is being continuously checked since last night. The level has declined,” NDRF’s Assistant Commandant DL Jakhar said.The level of gas in the air is being continuously checked by the local administration, the NDRF and the municipal corporation, they said.
Swati Tiwana, SDM, Ludhiana who was present on the spot, too, said the level of gas in the air was being monitored continuously.

“Apart from this, factories are also being inspected by the Punjab Pollution Control Board. We are also examining the CCTV footage for leads on the leak,” Tiwana said.
Of the 11 people who perished in the gas leak, five were from a family, she informed.
The toll from the gas leakage incident that occured in Giaspura in Ludhiana district on Sunday has risen to 11.

Theppakadu camp: PM Modi feeds elephant

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu and fed elephants at the Theppakadu elephant camp.

On Sunday, PM Modi paid a visit to the Theppakadu Elephant Camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. At the elephant camp, he interacted with mahouts and kavadis. Prime Minister Modi was seen feeding sugarcane to an elephant in a video of his visit.

Gujarat HC says PMO need not furnish degree certificates of PM Modi

On Friday, The Gujarat High Court declared that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is not required to provide the degree and post-graduate degree certificates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, overturning the decision of the Chief Information Commission (CIC).

Justice Biren Vaishnav’s one-judge panel overturned the CIC’s directive to the PMO, Gujarat University, and Delhi University to provide information about PM Modi’s undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Gujarat University’s appeal, which contested the CIC ruling, was being heard by the bench.

The High Court also imposed costs of Rs 25,000 on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who had sought details of the certificate of the Prime Minister’s degree.

Karnataka: PM Modi to inaugurate Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on 12 March

PM Modi is scheduled to visit Karnataka on 12 March, where he will dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation. The 118 km long project expressway is build at a cost of around Rs 8,480 crores.

The expressway is build with a goal of reducing the travel time Bengaluru and Mysuru from 3 hours to about 75 minutes. Earlier, on Friday, while informing about the PM’s visit to Mandya, Prime Minister’s Office said, “The rapid pace of development of infrastructure projects has been a testament to the vision of the Prime Minister to ensure world-class connectivity across the country. Moving ahead in this endeavor, Prime Minister will dedicate the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to the nation.”

The project involves 6-laning of the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru section of NH-275. This expressway will act as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the region, the press-release of PMO reads.

The release furthermore includes, “Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Mysuru-Khushalnagar 4 lane highway. Spread over 92 Km, the project will be developed at a cost of around Rs 4130 crores. The project will play a key role in boosting connectivity of Kushalnagar with Bengaluru and will help halve the travel time from about 5 to only 2.5 hours.”

Underlining the government’s efforts to promote tribal products, PM said on Thursday that the Centre is working continuously to ensure that the demand for products made by Adivasis should increase.

“In the last eight to nine, events like Aadi Mahotsav that are connected to the tribal community have become a campaign for the country. I myself have become a part of several such programmes. The tribal community’s development and welfare is also a matter of personal relations and sentiments for me,” said PM Modi.

He furthermore adds that in Gujarat too, he had spent his life’s formative years serving his Adavasi brothers and sisters across the tribal belt from Umargam to Ambika ji. “Their lifestyle taught me about our culture, traditions, and heritage a lot,” PM adds. While addressing the people, the Prime Minister, also highlighted that now more than 3000 ‘Van Dhan Vikas Kendras’ have been established in different states of the nation.

“More than 3000 ‘Van Dhan Vikas Kendras’ have been established in different states of the country. Today the government is giving MSP on about 90 minor forest products,” PM said.

The Prime Minister further adds that today more than 80 lakh self-help groups working across different states in which over than 1.25 crore members are our tribal brothers and sisters and a large number of them are our mothers and sisters.

He emphasized that the 21st-century India is walking on the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and the Aadi Mahotsav signifies this spirit. “When diversities are woven into a thread of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, India’s grandness emerges before the world. This Aadi Mahotsav signifies this spirit,” said PM Modi.

He stress that the demands of the products made by tribal society of India is increasing continuously and these products are also being exported to foreign countries. He also said the government’s focus is on promoting tribal arts and enhancing the skills of tribal youth.

PM Narendra Modi expresses happiness over change in lives of people of Neerasagar due to Jal Jeevan Mission

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his happiness after seeing the qualitative changes in the lives of villagers in Neerasagar, Dharwad Loksabha constituency due to Jal Jeevan Mission, reads a press release statement by PMO.

Meanwhile, in response to a tweet by Union Minister, Pralhad Joshi, the PM said, “Glad to see a qualitative change in the lives of the people of Neerasagar.” Jal Jeevan Mission which started in august 2019, aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.

As per the central government, only 3.23 crore, households were connected to supply water till 2019. Since the inception of the mission, 9.40 crore households have been connected with the supply water facility. Approximately 1.5 lakh villages in 107 districts have been benefitted from the mission.

PM Narendra Modi has been at the forefront of taking steps for the welfare of the tribal population of the nation while also according due respect to their contribution to the growth and development of the nation, said a press release by Prime Minister’s office.

To showcase the tribal culture on the national stage, the PM Modi, will inaugurate “Aadi Mahotsav,” the mega National Tribal Festival, on Thursday, February 16, at around 10:30 a.m. at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi, the press release added.

The Aadi Mahotsav which will celebrates the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, traditional art, and commerce is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

This year it is being organized from February 16 to 27 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. The programme will showcase the diverse and rich heritage of tribes across the nation in more than 200 stalls at the venue.

A road accident took place on Saturday early morning in which nine people were killed and several people were injured in a collision between a bus and a car in Navsari. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed grief at the loss of lives due to a road accident and Rs 2 lakh for ex-gratia. “Pained by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Navsari. PMO appoints three new IFS officers, Joint Secretary’s tenure extended

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of three new Indian Foreign Service officers to the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, strengthening the nation’s diplomatic capacity. The committee also extended the contract of the office’s joint secretary.

Dr. Deepak Mittal, an IFS officer from the 1998 batch, has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister’s Office, according to a notification from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. The Ministry also confirmed Dr. Vipin Kumar’s appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, effective immediately, for a term of three years from the date of his hire or until further directives, whichever comes first.

In addition, Nidhi Tewari, IFS (2014), was appointed as the Prime Minister’s Office’s Under Secretary for a three-year term beginning on the day she started working there or until further orders, whichever came first.

Rudra Gaurav Shresth’s tenure as Joint Secretary at the PMO was extended for an additional two months after February 9, 2023, or until three weeks after Dr. Deepak Mittal’s appointment as Officer on Special Duty, whichever came first.

Up to 26 people died in road accident in Kanpur

The number of fatalities in the Kanpur road accident in Uttar Pradesh, where a tractor-trailer carrying pilgrims crashed, increased to 26 on Saturday.

On Saturday night, a tragedy happened in the Ghatampur region of the Kanpur district.

Devotees were being transported back from Unnao in a tractor-trailer. The police arrived on the scene right away and jointly launched a rescue operation with the residents.

The injured were taken right away for medical treatment at the community health centre. The injured have been referred to Kanpur Hallet Hospital.

“A total of 26 people have lost their lives and others are injured. The pilgrims were returning from the Chandika Devi temple in Fatehpura. The injured people have been sent to Hallet hospital. An investigation is underway. Rescue work has been completed,” said Vishak G Iyer, District Magistrate, Kanpur.

Further information about the situation is awaited.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 for the injured and Rs 2 lakh for each deceased person’s next of kin.

“Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers for the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected,” tweeted the PMO.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said that senior authorities have been told to be there right away.

“The road accident in Kanpur district is very heart-wrenching. The District Magistrate and other senior officers have been directed to reach the spot immediately and conduct relief and rescue operations on a war footing and make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured. Wishing a speedy recovery to the injured,” tweeted CM Yogi.

“The loss of life in this accident is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved family. Praying to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed souls a place at his feet and the families of the dead to bear this unfathomable loss,” he added.

Mukul Rohatgi to become Attorney General again on October 1

Veteran attorney Mukul Rohatgi is slated to retake the position of India’s Attorney General on October 1 and begin his second term as the nation’s top law officer.

According to those with knowledge of the situation, Rohatgi granted the Prime Minister’s Office’s request last week and agreed to take the top post (PMO).

He will succeed renowned attorney KK Venugopal, 91, who announced his inability to continue once his third extension as leader ends on September 30. In June, Venugopal consented to a brief extension of three months.

Soon after the new administration assumed office in 2014, Rohatgi served as Attorney General for the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government till 2017. Venugopal was then allowed three extensions after being named attorney general.

Venugopal recently said during a hearing that he might not stay on as the chief law officer after his current term is over.

Bengaluru: 9 killed in jeep-car collision near Tumakuru town

Nine people were killed and 11 were injured when a cruiser jeep collided with a truck on the national highway near Bengaluru on Thursday. The accident happened near Tumakuru town, located 70 km northwest of Bengaluru.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Shahpurwad visited the accident site and said, “The cruiser jeep was carrying daily wage workers who were moving towards Bengaluru city in search of work.”

Meanwhile, all the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is stable.

However, compensation has been announced by the Prime Minister’s Office. The PMO expressed grief over the accident by tweeting and announcing a compensation of two lakh to the families of the dead and 50 thousand to the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Taking to Twitter PMO said, “The accident in Tumakuru district, Karnataka is heart-rending. Condolences to the bereaved families. Prayers with the injured. Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be paid Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi.”

Earlier on 17 August, five members of a family were killed when a car collided with a container truck going from the wrong side of the road on the Ahmednagar-Pune highway in Pune. The accident happened near Ranjangaon Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.
