</excerpt>

People in South Kashmir greeted the first group of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims with open arms on Wednesday, just weeks after a terror attack in Pahalgam left 26 people dead, many of them tourists, due to religious profiling. The 45-day-long pilgrimage is set to begin on July 3.

Locals Show Hospitality at Qazigund Tunnel

As the pilgrims traveled toward the sacred Amarnath shrine, they were warmly welcomed at the Navyug Tunnel in Qazigund. Local residents gathered at the tunnel early in the morning to receive them with flowers, smiles, and cheers.

A resident from South Kashmir told ANI, “We are happy that devotees are visiting Kashmir for the first time after the Pahalgam attack. The youth here is happy. We are glad that we got this opportunity to welcome them again.”

Another local from Dudu added, “We are happy that devotees are coming here after the Pahalgam attack. We are here at the (Navyug) tunnel to welcome them.”

A third resident also emphasized, “The devotees are coming here from all over the country. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are here to welcome them… Kashmir is known for its hospitality…”

Heightened Security Measures in Place

Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is on high alert. Authorities have stepped up security along National Highway 44 (NH-44) and surrounding areas.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from Jammu. He praised the preparation and security measures, saying, “Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has made excellent facilities for the Yatra. Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces have also maintained tight security. Devotees from all over the country are here. The enthusiasm is very high. The devotees of Bholenath have neglected all the terror attacks and have reached in huge numbers. I am hopeful that this year’s Yatra would be even better than the previous ones.”

Massive Security Deployment

After the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have ramped up their presence across the Jammu region. Over 50,000 personnel, including the CRPF, Army, and Police, are guarding the Yatra routes. The area is also being monitored using CCTV cameras, drones, jammers, and facial recognition systems.

Emergency Services Ready

In addition, authorities have arranged medical teams, air ambulances, and emergency evacuation plans to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims throughout the holy journey.

</excerpt>

India has intensified its diplomatic pushback against cross-border terrorism in the wake of the brutal Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. In pursuing its aggressive posture, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh refused to sign the joint statement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meeting in Qingdao, China, protesting the exclusion of the Pahalgam episode and the mention of Balochistan — a step interpreted as endorsing Pakistan’s propaganda.

Singh’s move, announced at a gathering featuring China, Pakistan, and Russia, constitutes a strategic turn in India’s foreign policy: zero tolerance for double-speak on terrorism, particularly when Indian victims are in question.

India Pushes Back on Balochistan Mention, Calls Out “Double Standards”

New Delhi sharply resisted the mention of Balochistan in the joint statement — a perpetual favourite of Pakistani diplomacy. India argues that Pakistan makes unfounded claims to divert attention from its record of backing terror organisations.

“There should be no place for such double standards. SCO should not be afraid to condemn such countries,” Singh stated, without directly mentioning Pakistan.

He emphasised that peace and prosperity in the region are not possible in the absence of a strong stand against terrorism and the perpetrators who fund and shelter terrorist groups.

Rajnath Singh Emboldens India’s Right to Self-Defence

In connection with the terror attack recently carried out in Pahalgam, Singh stated that the terrorists identified victims through religious profiling. He noted that the Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, had taken responsibility for the attack and that India had exercised its right to retaliate.

“We have demonstrated that epicentres of terrorism are no longer secure and we will not shy away from striking at them,” Singh threatened, referring to India’s assertive military stance.

Part of Broader Strategy Post-Operation Sindoor

The Defence Minister’s reluctance to sign the SCO statement is in line with New Delhi’s post-Operation Sindoor thesis, in which eight diplomatic groups were sent by New Delhi to key capitals to rally global support for its doctrine on anti-terrorism.

Though SCO has 10 member states, including China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan, Singh’s message reflects India’s insistence against compromising on terror for regional optics.

New Delhi is going to press international platforms again to stand up more firmly against state-sponsored terrorism, particularly after the Pahalgam attack laid bare fresh threats by Pakistan-based elements.

</excerpt>

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel received a hero’s welcome aboard an IndiGo flight on Tuesday morning for his bravery during the high-risk Operation Sindoor. Passengers applauded Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rajapaksh B T after the airline captain introduced him as a “very special traveller” who risked his life to save fellow soldiers.

The BSF shared a heartwarming video on its official X handle showing the moment the captain lauded Rajapaksh’s valour. “During Operation Sindoor on May 7 and 8, Assistant Sub Inspector, General Duty, Rajapaksh B T, 165 Battalion Border Security Force, was seriously injured while helping fellow soldiers during heavy firing at the international border near Jammu,” the captain said.

“His fearless action, even when under attack, helped save the lives of fellow soldiers and forced the enemy to retreat,” he added. The IndiGo flight passengers responded with a round of thunderous applause as Rajapaksh humbly acknowledged them with folded hands.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Largest Anti-Terror Strike

The applause for Rajapaksha comes in the wake of one of India’s most decisive counter-terrorism actions. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in retaliation after terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam on April 22. The operation targeted nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

Indian forces swiftly retaliated against subsequent Pakistani offensives under the same operation. The Indian Armed Forces, including BSF units, played a crucial role in executing these strikes.

Rajnath Singh: Operation Sindoor is India’s Boldest Move Against Terror

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted the strategic importance of Operation Sindoor. Speaking on Tuesday, Singh said, “The Pahalgam terror strike was not just an attack on our people but also an assault on the social unity of India.”

He emphasised the operation’s unprecedented scale: “On every matter related to national security, we have changed both attitude and way of action of the government. The world saw this change during the recent Operation Sindoor.”

India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty adds to Islamabad’s woes.
</excerpt>

Punjab province of Pakistan is facing a water crisis with the Kharif (summer) crop sowing season commencing. A drastic fall in the water level of major rivers and dams, along with India’s recent hold on the Indus Waters Treaty, has raised alarms regarding a drought-like situation in the region.

Two of its key reservoirs—Tarbela on the Indus River and Mangla on the Jhelum River—are critically low, according to the government of Pakistan. At the same time, the Chenab River has witnessed a “sudden decline” in inflows following India reportedly restricting water flow after the April Pahalgam terror attack.

Dam Levels Drop as Monsoon Rains Delay in Pakistan

Data released by the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on June 2, 2025, indicates that water availability across the Indus River System in Punjab province has dropped by 10.3% compared to the same day in 2024. Total water flow in the province stood at 1,28,800 Cusecs—down by 14,800 Cusecs from last year.

The deficit is a serious challenge to the farmers, who greatly rely on irrigation in the Kharif season. With weeks still to go before the Southwest Monsoon arrives, there are already worries of crop failure during the hot summer.

India’s Suspension of Treaties Aggravates Crisis

India revoked the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty last month following the Pahalgam terror attack that murdered 25 Indian tourists. The Treaty had assigned 80% of the waters of the Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab Rivers to Pakistan and gave limited rights of use to India. It also required the sharing of data on water levels in the river.

With the treaty suspended, India has stopped sharing vital river data with Pakistan. The loss of up-to-date information has increased the risk to downstream communities, particularly under monsoon-caused flooding. Indian data in past years enabled Pakistan to issue timely evacuation notices in flood-risk areas.

Glacier Conference Highlights Regional Risks

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently spoke at a conference on glacier conservation in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he complained about the worsening water crisis. He attributed the worsening situation to India’s move to freeze the treaty, urging world attention towards what he called a rising regional threat.

Earlier estimates by Islamabad predicted a 21% countrywide water shortage this summer, with live storage in the two most important dams reduced by 50%. Authorities have called for prudent use of water and vigilance, emphasizing the critical position of Tarbela and Mangla in both irrigation and hydropower supplies of Punjab and Sindh.

With political tensions escalating and climate pressures increasing, summer crops of Pakistan could be hit hard by an emerging water crisis.

</excerpt>

Congress member of parliament Shashi Tharoor has come to the defence of his recent statement made while abroad, which received flak from within the party, particularly from Udit Raj. The row erupted after Tharoor made remarks in Panama, where he reportedly said that India crossed the Line of Control (LoC) for the first time in 2016 during a surgical strike on a terror hub.

Taking to X, Tharoor made it clear that he was talking merely about retaliatory strikes following recent terror attacks and not historical wars. “Critics are free to twist my words, but I have better things to do,” he wrote, referencing a full agenda and an early morning flight to Colombia.

Tharoor, now at the helm of a multi-party delegation after Operation Sindoor, explicated his assertion further, asserting, “I was speaking only and explicitly of reprisals for terrorist attacks and not of earlier wars.” He also added, “My statement was preceded by an allusion to the various attacks that have occurred in recent years alone, when earlier Indian responses were both limited and circumscribed by our responsible respect for the LoC and the IB.”

After a long and successful day in Panama, i have to wind up at midnightvhere with departure for Bogota, Colombia in six hours, so I don’t really have time for this — but anyway: For those zealots fulminating about my supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC: in tge…

— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) May 29, 2025

Udit Raj Slams Tharoor, Accuses Him of Defaming Congress Legacy

Congress leader Udit Raj severely condemned Tharoor’s statement and blamed him for downplaying the party’s historical achievements. Referring to Tharoor’s tweet, Raj posted on X, “My dear Shashi Tharoor, Alas! I could prevail upon PM Modi to declare you as super spokesperson of BJP, even declaring (you) as foreign minister before landing in India. How could you denigrate the golden history of Congress by saying that before PM Modi , India never crossed LoC and International border.”

My dear @ShashiTharoor
Alas ! I could prevail upon PM Modi to declare you as super spokesperson of BJP , even declaring as foreign minister before landing in India . How could you denigrate the golden history of Congress by saying that before PM Modi , India never crossed LOC… https://t.co/c88b8rX2bq

— Dr. Udit Raj (@Dr_Uditraj) May 28, 2025

He also pointed out India’s military interventions during the Congress regime, “In 1965 Indian Army entered Pakistan at multiple points, which completely surprised the Pakistanis in the Lahore sector. In 1971, India tore Pakistan in two pieces and during UPA government several surgical strikes were unleashed but drum beating was not done to encash (it) politically.”

Pawan Khera and Jairam Ramesh Join In

Congress media and publicity department chief Pawan Khera and General Secretary in-charge of Communications Jairam Ramesh also joined in on the matter. Khera tweeted a photo of Indian Army officers in front of a captured Pakistani police station in Burki during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. “This photo is from the Battle of Burki. An important battle of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965,” Khera added.

In another tweet, Khera cited a media report in which former PM Manmohan Singh allegedly confirmed that the UPA government conducted several surgical strikes. “Former PM Manmohan Singh: Many Surgical Strikes Conducted Under UPA…. CC @ShashiTharoor,” Khera posted.

Jairam Ramesh re-shared Khera’s post, reflecting wider disenchantment among Congress members over Tharoor’s statement.

Earlier Spat Over Intelligence Comments

This is not the first time Udit Raj has had a run-in with Tharoor. It was last month that Raj scolded Tharoor for his comments on intelligence agencies after the Pahalgam terror attack. Tharoor had uttered, “No country has 100 per cent foolproof intelligence.”

Raj replied by blaming Tharoor for being the BJP’s ally: “Shashi Tharoor said no country has 100 per cent foolproof intelligence? During the 26/11 Mumbai attack, Modi ji had spoken. It is the central government’s failure.”

Tharoor brushed aside the criticism by highlighting Raj’s history, “Udit Raj is an ex-BJP MP and is better placed to know who speaks for the BJP.”

Tharoor Compares DOGE to Buddhism in Panama

In Panama, while speaking, Tharoor, in a tongue-in-cheek moment, equated the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to Buddhism. “DOGE is a way of life, much like Buddhism. Do you need Buddha for Buddhism? Wasn’t Buddhism more powerful after he died?” he responded when someone asked him who would head DOGE after him.

Party leaders criticized Tharoor, a leading figure in post-attack diplomatic efforts, even as he asserted Indian resilience abroad. </excerpt>

Supreme Court of India on Wednesday granted interim bail to Ashoka University assistant professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, firmly rebuking him for a contentious social media message on India’s Operation Sindoor. Mahmudabad uploaded the Facebook post amid heightened national sentiment following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military operation against Pakistani terror camps.

Supreme Court Takes a Stern View

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh was not shy in words as it condemned the professor’s remarks. “Everybody has a right to express free speech. But is it the time to talk of this much communal…? The country has faced a big challenge. Monsters came all the way and attacked our innocents. We were staying united. But at this juncture… why to gain cheap popularity on this occasion?” Justice Kant said, LiveLaw reported.

The court termed Mahmudabad’s post “dog whistling,” a legal term that refers to coded or veiled language addressing specific groups. It condemned his choice of words, saying, “Although everybody has the right to freedom of expression, statements by Mahmudabad are what is called dog whistling in law.”

Granting bail, the Supreme Court imposed three major conditions: Mahmudabad should not pen or comment in public about the case, the Pahalgam attack, or Operation Sindoor; and he should hand over his passport. In addition, the Court also declined to stay the ongoing investigation and instead ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) within 24 hours. The SIT will consist of senior IPS officers from outside Haryana and Delhi.

Ashoka University Reacts

Ashoka University hailed the interim bail, saying, “We are relieved and heartened by Prof Ali Khan Mahmudabad being granted interim bail by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. It has provided great comfort to his family and all of us at Ashoka University.” However, the episode highlights how intellectual voices are increasingly in the crosshairs, particularly at the time of sensitive national crises. With the ongoing SIT investigation, all eyes are on how the legal and academic fraternity will act in this high-profile case.

</excerpt>

In a dramatic twist, Haryana Police detained popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Hisar on charges of spying for Pakistan. Famous for her travel vlog channel Travel with JO, Malhotra had 3.77 lakh subscribers on YouTube and 1.33 lakh followers on Instagram. But investigators now reveal that Pakistani intelligence operatives secretly employed her and used her channel to spread foreign propaganda.

Jyoti Malhotra was arrested soon after her photos went viral on the internet with a man who had made a cake delivery to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi in the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The video of his cake delivery went viral after the attack. Twitter users made the connection, as the same man featured in one of Malhotra’s videos on YouTube. Being Political’s X (formerly Twitter) post assisted in stoking public interest and outrage.

Do you remember this video?

When an employee of Pakistan High Commission brought a cake the next day of Pahalgam attack.

This is the same person who was seen with Pak spy Jyoti Malhotra.#JyotiMalhotra pic.twitter.com/lgnDBRBjGD

Espionage Trail Behind the Lens

As per the FIR, Malhotra, in her questioning, had confessed to having traveled to Pakistan in 2023 on a group tour. She met Ahsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, there and stayed in touch with him on WhatsApp and other sources. On another visit, following Ahsan’s recommendation, she met Ali Ahsan, who introduced her to officials of Pakistani intelligence and security agencies.

The person who brought cake to Pakistan High Commission on next day of Pahalgam Attack is also seen in video of Pakistani Spy Jyoti Malhotra. pic.twitter.com/OgFun57zAD

— Incognito (@Incognito_qfs) May 19, 2025

After this meeting, according to police, Malhotra started passing on classified Indian army information to her Pakistani handlers. She communicated in secret using end-to-end encrypted apps WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. She even disguised contact numbers—she saved Shahbaz’s number under the alias ‘Jatt Randhawa’ to avoid arousing suspicion.

Secret Influence in a Networked World

Investigators believe Pakistani handlers instructed Malhotra to post content on social media that painted Pakistan in a good light. They did this to shape public opinion and build trust between the influencer and her audience. The FIR accuses Malhotra of doing it on purpose rather than accidentally trying to mislead the authorities and function below the radar of surveillance.

This case doesn’t merely involve individual wrongdoing—it shows how espionage agents are now turning social media platforms into tools of spying. As influencer society increases, the distinction between content and clandestine propaganda becomes perilously thin.

</excerpt>

Following increased hostilities between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian intelligence and law enforcement officers have initiated an extensive crackdown against suspected espionage rings associated with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The crackdown has resulted in the arrest of at least eight suspects from three Indian states—Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh—laying bare a horrific trend of civilians being recruited into spying.

Young Influencers and Common Citizens under Fire

Among the arrested is Hisar, Haryana-based travel vlogger Jyoti Malhotra, who had a trending YouTube channel by the name ‘Travel with JO’. She was said to have passed on sensitive military information to Pakistan following encounters with a Pakistan High Commission official. She was said to have traveled to Pakistan twice and was under development as an asset by Pakistani intelligence handlers.

Hisar SP Shashank Kumar Sawan was worried about the increasing exploitation of young social media influencers by rival nations. “For quick money, such influencers get on the wrong track,” he informed the media, pointing to the susceptibility of public-facing persons to be manipulated by foreign handlers.

More Arrests Across the States on Spying for Pakistan

Yet another such disturbing case is that of Davender Singh Dhillon, a 25-year-old political science student at Khalsa College in Patiala. He was arrested in Kaithal, Haryana, following the posting of gun photographs on Facebook. Investigations revealed that he had traveled to Pakistan in November and supplied ISI agents with photographs of the military cantonment in Patiala.

Nauman Ilahi, a 24-year-old security guard from Panipat, Haryana, was also taken into custody for allegedly passing sensitive information to an ISI handler. Police added that he used his brother-in-law’s bank account to receive funds from Pakistan. Nauman hails from Uttar Pradesh.

In addition, a 23-year-old individual named Arman was apprehended in Nuh, Haryana, on May 16 after receiving reliable intelligence inputs. The police affirmed that he shared sensitive information with Pakistani handlers during the height of bilateral tensions.

Wider Network and Exploitation of Technology

The raids extended to Uttar Pradesh with the arrest of Shahzad, a Rampur businessman. He was picked up by the Special Task Force (STF) in Moradabad on charges of passing information relating to national security to Pakistani handlers. Shahzad was said to have visited Pakistan several times and was also involved in running a cosmetics, clothing, and spices smuggling racket.

There was another major arrest in Punjab as Mohammad Murtaza Ali, who was busted by Gujarat Police in a raid at Jalandhar, was using a mobile application he had made to spy on behalf of the ISI. Officials seized four mobile phones and three SIM cards from him.

Meanwhile, Gazala and Yamin Mohammad were also arrested in Punjab on similar charges of espionage, further emphasizing the reach of Pakistan’s intelligence web within India.

Espionage Surge Linked to Operation Sindoor

These arrests come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, India’s military action in retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre, during which nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were hit. The action against the spies comes as Islamabad launched missile and drone attacks in retaliation for India’s attacks, which were successfully repelled by Indian air defence systems.

The importance of these arrests should not be underestimated. They not only uncover Pakistan’s expanded espionage network but also bring to the fore the imperative need for heightened digital monitoring, counterintelligence, and citizen sensitization. While India strengthens its internal security regime, the recent arrests could just be the beginning of a deeper iceberg of clandestine operations designed to destabilize national security.

On May 14, 2025, three terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit were neutralised during a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.

Drone footage from the encounter revealed one of the militants hiding behind a pillar, armed with an assault rifle. His release, delayed by post-Pahalgam tensions, has sparked a conversation about border security, mental health, and diplomacy.
</excerpt>

Purnam Kumar Shaw, a jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF) from West Bengal, returned to India after a dramatic 21-day ordeal at the hands of his Pakistani captors. What was just a routine border patrol in Punjab turned into an extended diplomatic crisis when Shaw crossed the border inadvertently on April 23, just a day after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Shaw was said to have looked for shade under a tree when he inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory. The Pakistani Rangers picked him up at once, and what should have been a swift handover became a tense standoff. His return, with Indo-Pak relations already tenuous, was bogged down in delays and uncertainty.

Negotiations in the Shadow of Conflict

Under normal circumstances, a soldier who mistakenly crosses the border is typically handed back within a day or two. However, Shaw’s case was different. The Pahalgam terror attack had escalated tensions, and Operation Sindoor—India’s retaliatory air strikes on terror camps—only complicated matters. Flag meetings were stalled, and every Indian diplomatic effort was met with the same vague reply, “We are waiting for directions from the higher-ups.”

Later, on May 10, the two nations came to an “understanding” to suspend military action along the International Border as well as the Line of Control. Four days after that, Shaw returned home at last through Attari-Wagah border, giving great relief to his family.

Mental Torture of BSF Soldier and Captivity Conditions

Shaw’s experience was not an easy one. When he returned, he confided in his wife, Rajani, and shared the psychological impact of his captivity. “He was being given food at regular intervals. But he was not permitted to brush his teeth. When he talked, he was exhausted and said he was sleep-deprived,” she explained to The Times of India.

Although physically not attacked, Shaw said he was put through severe mental stress. Pakistani authorities, sometimes dressed in civilian clothes, blindfolded him and transferred him between three secret locations. One of them, Shaw suspects, was close to an airbase—he constantly heard planes overhead. At another time, he was placed in a prison cell and questioned repeatedly regarding patterns of BSF deployment and the details of senior officers. He was also under pressure to provide contact details. However, according to BSF procedure, he didn’t carry a phone during the patrol.

A Family’s Agony and Hope

Meanwhile, in India, Shaw’s family—particularly his pregnant wife Rajani—were wracked with anxiety. She and their infant son, along with other relatives, went to Ferozepur to meet Shaw’s commanding officer. Despite assurances that talks were being initiated, reports of Indian army action served to further intensify their anxiety.

“I remained glued to the news all day, hoping for something positive,” Rajani said. The family’s concerns were echoed by Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee, who demanded immediate government action. “We need to get him back immediately,” Banerjee posted on social media.

Wife of BSF jawan Purnam Shaw returned from Pakistan after 20 days of captivity

She says @narendramodi he to sab possible he

Lastly, on May 14, their hopes were fulfilled. Shaw came back to Indian soil and was immediately debriefed by the government. His captor-worn clothes were checked and disposed of, and he was discovered to be physically and mentally fit.

Welcome of BSF Jawan and Renewed Resolve

Despite the trauma, Shaw’s family is in full support of his service. His wife was thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for his release. His father, Bholanath Shaw, in a proud tone, said, “I want him to work for the country only. He will again go back to protect our country.”

Shaw is a member of the 24th Battalion of the BSF and was deployed to Punjab’s Ferozepur sector, which borders Pakistan for 553 km. His case has reopened debates on border troops’ challenges and risks, particularly during times of increased military and political tensions.

The Larger Picture: Border Security and Diplomacy

Shaw’s return is a relief, but it also reveals weaknesses in cross-border procedures and the heavy human price of diplomatic standoffs. His 21-day detention—marked by blindfolds, questioning, and mental pressure—raises significant questions regarding how both countries respond to such events during times of turmoil.

As the BSF and Indian authorities toiled behind the scenes, the ordeal is a grim reminder of the human toll exacted by those manning the country’s borders. More importantly, it is a reminder of how global events—ranging from terror strikes to military campaigns—can have far-reaching consequences. Even the most mundane security operations can be hugely influenced by such developments.

As Shaw returns to work, his account is a warning story and a tribute to the resilience and strength of India’s military and their families.

In a sharp display of mimicry, Pakistan replicated India’s every move after the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. When India went in for Operation Sindoor to destroy nine terror camps, Islamabad sought to emulate India’s military and diplomatic stance point-for-point.

From Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to troops to replicating bans on YouTube channels, Pakistan emulated India almost step-by-step. The trend indicates not only a reactive foreign policy but a coordinated attempt to change its global image—by emulating its neighbour.

The Victory Lap: Photo-ops with soldiers

PM Narendra Modi went to Adampur Air Base in Punjab following the successful completion of Operation Sindoor. There, he met with soldiers and took widely shared photos. The next day, Shehbaz Sharif went to Pasrur Cantonment in Sialkot and took similar shots with Pakistani soldiers.

Interestingly, Adampur was among the bases Pakistan had falsely asserted to have targeted using Chinese-made JF-17 fighter jets. But India’s S-400 missile system at Adampur is visuals that dispel those claims.

Treaties on hold

Following the verification of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba’s connection to the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 tourists’ lives, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty. The 1960 treaty had regulated water sharing in six rivers. Pakistan termed the action an “act of war”.

Islamabad, in retaliation, suspended all bilateral treaties with India, including the Simla Agreement and the nuclear safety agreement.

High-level security meetings: CCS vs NSC

India’s PM had convened a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting immediately following the attack. Pakistan’s government followed suit, convening its National Security Committee (NSC) shortly afterward. The terminology and statements that followed mirrored India’s behavior, outrightly demonstrating Pakistan’s reactive approach.

On April 30th, PM Modi gave Indian troops complete liberty to decide the time, manner, and target of response. Barely days after, Pakistan’s NSC empowered its army to respond at a “time, place, and manner of their choice.” Sharif employed the very words when he met senior brass.

Copy-paste media bans

India blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including prominent channels such as Dawn and Geo News, for disseminating disinformation. Pakistan followed suit on May 7, blocking 16 Indian YouTube channels and 32 websites. Even the figures matched.

From describing its retaliation as “precise and restrained” to mimicking India’s diplomatic parlance, Pakistan’s leadership and military replicated the narrative pattern of India. In spite of this, Pakistan could not conceal the fact that it had struck Indian civilian infrastructure.

Pakistan’s mimicry is more than a sign of insecurity. It is an indication of the lack of innovative strategy in the light of India’s stern and measured reaction. The issue now is—how long can Pakistan sustain this farce without losing face?

</excerpt>

British MP Bob Blackman has denounced the recent terror strike in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir strongly. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, the majority of them tourists. Bob Blackman welcomed India’s quick response in the form of Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror camps were hit with precision air-strikes.

He also called for the UK government under PM Keir Starmer to take strong action against terror camps operating in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). His statement raised international focus on Pakistan’s patronage of terror organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and its offshoot, The Resistance Front, which owned responsibility for the Pahalgam attack.

Following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindoor: precision air-strikes on 9 terrorist bases.

As peace talks continue, I asked what steps the Foreign Secretary is taking to ensure the terrorist bases are removed from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir? pic.twitter.com/qvtnwe5g03

— Bob Blackman (@BobBlackman) May 14, 2025

Condemning a Vicious Terror Strike

Bob Blackman had previously decried the Pahalgam attack as a brutal and coordinated attack. Addressing the House of Commons, he underscored that terrorists targeted Hindu and Christian men specifically. He cautioned that such targeted attacks warrant immediate international intervention.

He advocated global action to dismantle terror networks based in PoK, terming them as a threat to peace in the entire region of South Asia.

Welcoming India’s Operation Sindoor

Shortly after the attack, India began Operation Sindoor. The operation struck nine terror camps that are suspected to be connected with Pakistan-sponsored militants. Bob Blackman welcomed this bold action.

He mentioned that India’s reaction was full of strength and urgency. Furthermore, he asked the UK Foreign Secretary to encourage initiatives that aim to close these terror camps in PoK.

UK’s Official Stand

In response, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy described the attack as “horrific.” Lammy confirmed that the UK is with India and remains in touch with both countries to combat terrorism.

The UK Foreign Secretary urged long-term collaboration to provide peace. But he also indicated that the two countries require assistance to deal with these threats effectively.

Raising Political Alarms

Blackman’s outburst singled out Pakistan’s role in supporting terror outfits. His comments followed when India and Pakistan are both involved in peace negotiations.

He made it very clear that peace efforts will fail if terror infrastructure in PoK is not dismantled. He called upon the UK to support efforts in eradicating these threats so that negotiations can proceed in a meaningful way.

Time for Global Resolve

The attack in Pahalgam revealed the intense terror threat in the region. Blackman’s robust message is a reflection of the increasing calls for global action. He thinks the UK needs to stand with India. The world can only hope to end terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir if they do that.

The way to achieve long-term peace is by shutting down terror camps and blocking fund flow to the groups in PoK.

In a viral Instagram reel titled “Pakistani take on India strike”, Abhay openly backed India’s decisive action, calling it a justified response to terror.

“I am Pakistani and I will say it straight. India had every right to hit back,” Abhay said in the video posted to his Instagram handle.

Referring to the backlash India faced following the airstrikes, Abhay accused critics of double standards. “First, you attack their people, and when they respond, suddenly it’s all about peace, human rights.
Acknowledging the general disdain for war on both sides, Abhay pointed to deeper issues. “Yes, no one prefers war. Neither India nor Pakistan. But when you start breeding terrorism, don’t act surprised when it comes back your way,” he added.

He firmly labelled India’s Operation Sindoor as an act of justice, not aggression. “India never started this. They just responded. And to me, that is not an act of war. That is just justice,” he stated.

‘Easy to Preach Peace When It’s Not Your People Getting Killed’

Abhay’s video resonated widely on social media, especially for his concluding line: “It’s easy to preach peace when it’s not your people getting killed.” In a bold show of solidarity, he ended the post with the words “Jai Hind.”

India’s Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted nine terror camps run by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Reports suggest several Pakistani officials attended the funerals of terrorists neutralised during the operation, underscoring the stakes involved.

Abhay’s unapologetic support has added a unique layer to the conversation around the operation, offering a rare voice of cross-border solidarity from within Pakistan’s own community.

</excerpt>

India on May 13, 2025, expelled a member of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi after discovering his espionage activities. The person, operating secretly as an ISI agent in diplomatic cover, was made persona non grata. Indian officials directed him to depart within 24 hours.

In a tit-for-tat retaliatory move, Pakistan had expelled a member of the Indian High Commission staff in Islamabad. Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires and served the notice of expulsion on the Indian diplomat for allegedly carrying out activities “incompatible with his diplomatic status.” This action was a mirror image of India’s move in both tone and timing.

Espionage Sparks Diplomatic Flashpoint

The diplomatic crisis began when Indian security officials discovered an espionage network using the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. A Pakistani official purportedly shared classified information with handlers and conducted undercover surveillance operations. The discovery followed increased tensions across the region after a terror strike in Pahalgam, which killed 26 civilians.

Another brainless tit-for-tat move by Pakistan.

India caught an undercover ISI operative working as a staffer at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, so Islamabad followed suit and declared an Indian diplomat persona non grata, because why not.

What a banana republic. pic.twitter.com/MtvRnMwPyH

— Sonam Mahajan (@AsYouNotWish) May 13, 2025

India took decisive action. It used the Vienna Convention to expel the official, citing unmistakable proof of espionage. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that such conduct was unacceptable and went against all diplomatic standards.

Islamabad Reacts on Expected Lines

Hours later, Pakistan retaliated — as anticipated — with a mirror response. Islamabad’s action, while diplomatically worded, was generally understood to be one of retaliation, not new intelligence. “Because why not,” as X analysts sarcastically surmised, referencing the traditional symmetry of India-Pakistan diplomatic standoffs.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office announced that the Indian diplomat was persona non grata and called for him to leave in 24 hours. Islamabad authorities defended the act as required for “maintaining diplomatic parity.”

Traditional Pattern of Retaliation

The tit-for-tat expulsions highlight the fragility of India-Pakistan relations. With tensions in intelligence spilling over into diplomacy, both countries appear locked into a familiar pattern of provocation and response. Unless both governments shift towards long-term dialogue, such confrontations will continue to undermine any chance of regional stability.

The tit-for-tat expulsions illustrate how tenuous India-Pakistan relations are. As intelligence tensions bleed into diplomacy, each seems trapped in a self-fulfilling cycle of provocation and retaliation. Unless both governments change course toward persistent dialogue, such incidents will keep eroding any possibility for regional stability.

</excerpt>

On May 7, 2025, India launched Op Sindoor, a bold military attack on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This firm response came after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which 26 civilians, including a Nepalese citizen, were killed.

But more than retaliation, Op Sindoor marked India’s significant change in military strategy. It represented the actual field deployment of future theatre commands and the Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) theory—both top changes to induce India’s military forces to become swifter, better-coordinated and lethal in short, precision-targeting missions.

Pahalgam Massacre: Brutal Trigger

On April 22, terrorists targeted tourists in Pahalgam and killed 26 innocent people. Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-affiliated The Resistance Force initially took responsibility, but later withdrew it. India followed digital clues to Pakistani handlers.

The brutality of the attack led to outrage across the country. PM Narendra Modi described it as “a gruesome face of terror,” and vowed a robust response. The government quickly approved military action.

Operation Sindoor: Strategy and Execution

India attacked nine large terrorist camps in PoK and Pakistan targeting organizations such as LeT, JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation killed more than 100 terrorists, among them Yusuf Azhar, a senior JeM commander and nephew of Masood Azhar. India also attacked major military facilities in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, and Rahim Yar Khan with air and missile strikes.

This action caused massive destruction and caused disruptions to enemy supply lines. Indian fighter platforms such as Rafales, Mirage 2000s, Su-30MKIs and BrahMos missiles took the front, supported by ISR technology, drone reconnaissance, and cyber warfare.

New Military Doctrine: Theatre Commands and IBGs

Despite being reactive, Operation Sindoor has shown that India’s new setup is in place. Theatre Commands integrated – already in finalisation stages – will rationalise decision-making by clubbing Army, Navy and Air Force forces under one commander. The Western Theatre Command will take care of Pakistan threats, with others such as the Maritime and Northern Commands tasked with China and maritime security.

India is also implementing IBGs—self-sufficient, mobile 5,000–7,000-strong brigades. The units can deploy in 12–48 hours. Designed to suit specific geography, IBGs have infantry, artillery, armor, and air defence—best suited for quick, high-technology operations against hostile borders. Although not comprehensively deployed during Operation Sindoor, their prospective role is clear now.

Network-Centric Warfare and Indigenous Power

The operation exemplified India’s jump to network-centric warfare. Real-time intelligence, signal tracking, cyber interference, and precision targeting caused minimal collateral damage.

India’s Make in India project also contributed, with indigenous-built systems boosting strategic autonomy. PM Modi referred to Operation Sindoor as “our unflinching commitment to justice.”

Strategic Impact: Domestic and Global Ripples

Domestically, Op Sindoor brought the country together. Morale in the public surged. Internationally, nations such as France, US, and Australia stood by India’s right of self-defence. Pakistan, hard hit and diplomatically isolated, sought a ceasefire after its retaliatory strikes were foiled by Indian air defences.

India also gave China a firm signal of being ready to respond across theatres if attacked.

From Response to Reform

India will operationalize theatre commands in full by 2026, supported by increased IBGs and increased joint exercises with friends such as France, US, and Japan. Indigenous defense manufacturing will increase, minimizing imports and providing strategic depth.

PM Modi stated, “This is not an era of war, but nor is it an era of terrorism.” Operation Sindoor is not merely a military operation—it is a transition to precision, speed and combined power. It is the strong stance by India that terror and diplomacy cannot co-exist, and it marks the arrival of a military strategy based on preparation, rather than retaliation.

The ceasefire follows diplomatic efforts and precise military strikes against Pakistan-based terror infrastructure.
</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make a statement to the nation at 8 PM today, his first since a ceasefire was announced following four days of fierce fighting with Pakistan after India retaliated under Operation Sindoor.

Operation Sindoor began on May 7, two weeks following a barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, when 26 people, 24 Indian tourists, one Nepalese citizen, and a local pony handler who succumbed to injuries while attempting to save a tourist lost their lives. The attackers had allegedly done religious profiling before they started firing, confirmed reports.

A Pakistan-based proxy group of Lashkar-e-Taiba took responsibility for the attack. Investigations later established that three among the five terrorists were Pakistani.

Terror Camps and Key Operatives Targeted

As a counterattack, India launched precision strikes on nine terror camps along Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The series of operations resulted in eliminating almost 100 terrorists, including perpetrators of earlier high-profile attacks such as Pulwama (2019) and the IC 814 hijacking (1999).

Important Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammed handlers neutralized are Mudassar Khadian Khas and Khalid alias Abu Akasha of LeT, and Mohammed Yusuf Azhar, Hafiz Mohammed Jaleel, and Mohammad Hassan Khan of JeM. Importantly, Mohammed Yusuf Azhar, Masood Azhar’s brother-in-law and founder of JeM, was one of the masterminds behind the hijacking of IC 814 in 1999 to Kandahar.

In retaliation to India’s aggression, Pakistan initiated a series of drone and missile strikes along the borders of Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab. Shelling also commenced along the LoC and International Border, defying the previous ceasefire agreement.

India responded with targeted and controlled counterattacks, which hit various military bases in Pakistan, such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sagodha, and Bholari. The Indian Air Force also attacked radar bases in Lahore and Gujranwala. These operations formed part of a prolonged plan under Operation Sindoor and included attacking command centers, radar bases, and ammunition depots deep inside Pakistani land.

Ceasefire Agreement and Future Warning

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump revealed that India and Pakistan had agreed on a ceasefire. The news was shortly after confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. But the government of India made it clear that the ceasefire resulted from a direct conversation between the two nations’ highest military leaders and made no mention of the US mediation.

India has thereafter announced that any subsequent terror action funded by Pakistan will be viewed as an act of war, to which the nation will take strong action.

MoD urges public to avoid misinformation and stay vigilant.
</excerpt>

Amid the ongoing Operation Sindoor, Indian authorities have flagged a new method reportedly being used by Pakistan’s Intelligence Operatives (PIO) to extract sensitive details. The operatives are allegedly calling Indian civilians and journalists using an Indian WhatsApp number +91 7340921702, pretending to be Indian defence officials.

These calls, according to officials, are designed to gather classified information, particularly regarding Operation Sindoor and the impact of Pakistan’s recent strike on Indian military bases. Authorities confirmed that the PIOs pose as representatives from high-ranking defence offices and are targeting individuals for press briefings allegedly in New Delhi.

MoD Issues Warning

Indian officials have sounded the alarm, urging people to steer clear of such fraudulent calls. In an official alert, they stated: “Indian WhatsApp No: 7340921702 is being used by Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIO), pretending as Indian Defence Officials, to call Journalists and Civilians to acquire information on the ongoing situation while ‘Operation Sindoor’ is in progress. Please DO NOT fall for such attempts.”

Journalists Targeted, Calls Go Unanswered

Asianet News English reported that some of its journalists were among those contacted. The callers falsely claimed to represent the Chief of Defence Staff’s office. Fortunately, the calls remained unanswered.

MoD Urges Public to Avoid Fake News

With tensions rising after the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians in Kashmir, the Ministry of Defence has cautioned citizens about the spread of fake news on WhatsApp.

In a post on X, the MoD said: “In these sensitive times, a lot of misinformation and fake news is being spread on WhatsApp. Be cautious and follow our WhatsApp Channel for all authentic information related to Ministry of Defence.”

The Ministry has asked the public to rely only on official channels for updates on defence matters, especially during this critical phase of Operation Sindoor.

DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said the Pahalgam attack marked the boiling point of rising civilian-targeted terror.
</excerpt>

In a press conference convened on Monday, India’s military presented the extent and gravity of Operation Sindoor, which provided a resounding rebuttal to growing terror activities and cross-border hostility. The operation between May 7 and 10 saw the neutralization of more than 100 terrorists, including key operatives such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed.

Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Director General Military Operations (DGMO), emphasized the change in terrorist tactics, saying, “In the past few years, the nature of terrorist activities has changed.
The joint briefing, conducted by Vice Admiral A N Pramod and Air Marshal A K Bharti, also confirmed the destruction of 11 Pakistani air bases and heavy damage to Pakistan’s military infrastructure. In addition, 35 to 40 Pakistani Army soldiers were killed in artillery and small arms fire exchanges along the Line of Control.

</excerpt>

In a bold and unprecedented move, India launched Operation Sindoor, striking deep into Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to destroy terror infrastructure responsible for repeated attacks on Indian soil. Government sources confirmed that the strikes targeted the “head of the snake”—high-ranking terrorists and key command centers—instead of merely eliminating foot soldiers.

Strikes Across Pakistan and PoK

Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack on May 7, which killed 26 civilians, including tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. In response, the Indian Armed Forces executed coordinated precision missile strikes on nine terror facilities—four inside Pakistan (including Bahawalpur and Muridke) and five within PoK (notably Muzaffarabad and Kotli).

“These facilities were key command centers for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—groups behind major attacks like Pulwama (2019) and Mumbai (2008),” a source said.

“Ghar Me Ghus Ke Marenge”

A source highlighted India’s doctrinal shift: “The message that has been sent is that no matter where you are in Pakistan, we will hit you. On this occasion, we have gone after the head of the snake and not foot soldiers.”

The strikes reportedly came after Pakistan attempted drone attacks on Indian cities in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab during the nights of May 8 and 9. In response, the Indian Army unleashed a coordinated fire assault, with visuals shared by the official ADG PI account of the Indian Army.

Another source added, “It showed our approach of ‘ghar me ghus ke marenge (we will kill them inside their home).”

A New Deterrence Doctrine

Sources emphasized that the response reflected India’s doctrinal evolution toward calibrated deterrence. The goal was not just retribution but to set a new strategic red line.

“We have called their nuclear deterrence bluff. We take the nuclear threat seriously, but it cannot serve as cover for Pakistan to come and do terrorism in our country,” the source said. “The new normal is that the Line of Control will not protect you; the international border will not protect you; the nuclear threat will not protect you.”

Impact and Message to the World

According to government insiders, several high-value terrorists on India’s most wanted list were eliminated in the strikes. Entire terror modules and leadership structures were reportedly dismantled in a single night.

“India showed the world that it will not wait for permission to defend its people. Terror will be punished anytime, anywhere. It also showed that terrorists and their masterminds have no place to hide,” the source concluded.

</excerpt>

With India-Pakistan tensions spiralling over the last few days, the Group of Seven (G7) countries made a strong call for their nuclear-armed neighbours to use “maximum restraint” and resolve issues through direct conversation to avoid further military escalation. The G7 made its appeal on Friday, May 9, as the two nations witnessed a series of retaliatory attacks, drone raids, and cross-border fire.

In a shared statement, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, along with the High Representative of the European Union, condemned the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 and showed extreme concern for civilians’ safety. “Further military escalation poses a serious threat to regional stability,” said the statement. It further included, “We call for immediate de-escalation and encourage both countries to engage in direct dialogue towards a peaceful outcome.”

Retaliatory Strikes and Drone Warfare Escalate

Tensions sharply increased after May 7, when Pakistan launched a series of air attacks. India retaliated with precision strikes along the Line of Control (Loc) and the International Border (IB), targeting strategic military targets. Defence sources confirmed that India had effectively neutralised Pakistan’s Lahore Air Defence System.

Despite repeated drone and missile strikes by Islamabad, Indian troops had air supremacy, successfully intercepting or nullifying the vast majority of Pakistani efforts to break through Indian airspace. During Friday evening, Pakistan once more sent drones targeting major Indian sites, including spots in Jammu. India, in turn, retaliated with equally powerful counterattacks, ramping up the standoff.

On-Ground Aggression and Infiltration Attempts

The security environment has also worsened on the ground. Pakistan stepped up shelling in Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, and Kupwara, with India retaliating with artillery fire. The Border Security Force (BSF) also intercepted a big infiltration bid in Jammu’s Samba district, possibly averting a likely terror strike.

The G7 call is a response to growing international concern about the risk of an escalation into a wider conflict. Although both countries are on high alert, pressure is building on them to take a step back from the precipice. The situation is volatile, with civilians and border communities bearing the impact of the crossfire.

</excerpt>

The standoff between India and Pakistan has escalated dramatically in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 civilians dead. On Saturday, the Indian government confirmed that the Pakistani Army has intensified hostilities along India’s western front, launching a series of coordinated assaults using drones, high-speed missiles, loitering munitions, and fighter jets.

In turn, India retaliated with accurate targeting of Pakistani military bases while being committed firmly to proportionate retaliation and de-escalation.

Provocations and Escalation by Pakistan

Pakistani military has started mobilizing troops towards forward areas—a development that marks intention to deepen the conflict, Indian officials said. “Pakistani troops have been observed moving into forward areas, indicating their intent to further escalate the tensions,” said Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

Despite the growing pressure, India has been cautious in its military reaction. “Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded proportionately. Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates,” Singh said.

Pakistan’s aggression has not only been focused against military targets but even essential civilian infrastructure. “Pakistani army is continuously attacking the western borders; it has used drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions and fighter jets to attack India’s military sites,” Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said during a press conference. She continued, “India neutralised many dangers, but Pakistan tried to infiltrate via Air at more than 26 places, and they damaged our equipment and personnel at air force bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, Bathinda. They used high-speed missiles at 1:40 am to target Punjab’s air base. They even attacked health facilities and schools.”

India’s Precision Retaliation and Commitment to Restraint

India’s military responded quickly to these attempts. As Wing Commander Singh informs, “In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out a precision strike only at identified military targets… Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued malicious misinformation campaign, with claims of destruction of the Indian S-400 system, destruction of airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa… India unequivocally rejects these false claims being spread by Pakistan.”

India retaliated in retaliatory action at early Saturday hours following a missile assault from Islamabad’s several high-velocity missiles toward Indian airfields located across various cities of Punjab. This came in the form of the most recent in an already heated skirmish.

Adding to the intensity, Pakistan’s Byker YIHA III Kamikaze drones were recovered and neutralized in Punjab’s Amritsar. “The attempt was foiled by the Indian Army Air Defence guns at 5 am as the drones were shot down in the air itself,” defence officials said. Remnants of unidentified projectiles were also spotted in Rajasthan’s Barmer, highlighting the extensive nature of the Pakistani offensive.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Counteroffensive

The Pakistan raids were in response to India’s latest counterterrorism operation—Operation Sindoor—conducted on Wednesday. Nine terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were targeted in the mission as a direct reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack. Official reports suggest that a minimum of three airbases in Pakistan were attacked by Indian airstrikes during Saturday’s early morning hours.

Col Qureshi reaffirmed, “A Befitting reply has been given to Pakistani actions, as sporadic firing continues along the Line of Control. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also echoed similar views, saying, “It is Pakistani actions that have constituted provocations and escalations. In response, India has defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion.”

Since the situation is still fluid, the Indian military continues to maintain high levels of readiness while calling on Pakistan to exercise restraint and stop its aggression. The government’s stance remains firm: calibrated and strategic reactions are important to avoid further escalation, but national security will not be sacrificed.

Why Pakistan Named Its Missile Strike ‘Bunyan Ul Marsoos’ — Meaning and Message

<excerpt>Pakistan’s pre-dawn missile and drone strike, named ‘Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos,’ marks a sharp escalation following India’s targeted response to the Pahalgam terror attacks. While India focused solely on terror camps, Pakistan’s assault targeted civilian and military sites—an alarming and communal shift in its tactics.
</excerpt>

In a spectacular and risky turn of events, Pakistan attacked India in a pre-dawn offensive on Saturday, launching drones and ballistic missiles, including the Fattah-1, as part of an operation ominously named Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos. This came on the heels of India’s Operation Sindoor on Friday, when there were targeted airstrikes by the Indian Air Force on terror camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Pakistani media, such as Radio Pakistan, reported that the attack was aimed at 26 sites in India. While India’s Operation Sindoor was precise and targeted only terrorist infrastructure, the Pakistani response was indiscriminate, purposely targeting civilian and military targets, such as gurdwaras, convents, and temples. The difference is stark and reflects not only Pakistan’s desperation but also its desire to disguise aggression with religious symbolism.

Bunyan Ul Marsoos: Religious Undertones, Calculated Communal Messaging

The name Bunyan Ul Marsoos, derived from a verse in the Quran, translates to “solid wall of lead” or “a structure made of lead.” As per Al Jazeera, the verse reads, “Bunyan Marsoos is an Arabic phrase which directly translates into ‘a structure made of lead.” Pakistan’s use of Quranic scripture is not coincidental. It attempts to present its military reaction as a divine mission, showing itself as an invincible barrier defending a holy cause.

But this is a story that does not survive close examination. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri aptly declared, “Pakistan is once again trying desperately to give a communal color to the situation to cause dissonance. We are not surprised.” Pakistan’s targeting of religious and civilian locations is not merely an act of war—it is an attempt to induce internal upheaval in India on communal lines.

Terrorism and Religious Polarisation: The Pattern Is Clear

This is not the first time Pakistan has brought religion into its military pursuits. The Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 reminds us in stark terms. Pakistani and trained by Pakistani terrorists killed civilians after compelling them to utter the kalma to find out the non-Muslims. Asaduddin Owaisi, MP AIMIM, criticized the action by stating, “This act [Pahalgam attack] shows you [Pakistan] are the successors of ISIS.”

Owaisi went on, “Be it ISI or ISIS or the establishment of Pakistan’s deep state, they desire Hindu-Muslim communal riots. They wanted to inform us that non-Muslims can’t reach Kashmir.” These words show a bigger worry—that Pakistan is using terrorism not just as an instrument against India but also as a means of fanning communal flames.

General Asim Munir’s previous statement fuels this agenda: “Our ancestors felt that we were different from the Hindus in all walks of life. That was the premise of the Two-Nation Theory.” This ideological foundation is no longer mere rhetoric; it is being enforced on the ground violently.

Background: India’s Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam Massacre

India’s retaliation—Operation Sindoor—was initiated after the heinous April 22 Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 civilians were brutally killed in cold blood. The killers chose their victims based on religious identity, a chilling new twist to cross-border terrorism. India’s raids, which targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and POK, included for the first time since 1971, a target 100 km deep within Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Pakistan’s designation of its response operation as Bunyan Ul Marsoos, even in the face of this violation, highlights its desire to look strong, while its land remains weak. But employing religion as sword and shield, particularly in war, is not merely irresponsible—it is universally reviled.

Inside the Missile India Fired at Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack | TDG Explainer

<excerpt>As tensions rise after the deadly Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army retaliated with precision strikes using Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) along the LoC, highlighting their growing role in modern warfare.
</excerpt>

In a quick and measured reaction to the recent terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the Indian Army has initiated targeted attacks across the Line of Control (Loc) with Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMS). The attacks, defence sources said on Friday, destroyed several Pakistani military outposts, escalating an already tense border situation.

Why the Retaliation Was Swift and Precise

The Army deployment of ATGMS followed a matter of days after 26 civilians were butchered in one of the worst Kashmir attacks in more than two decades. The airstrikes are being conducted as part of an ongoing operational campaign. The strike included air attacks under Operation Sindoor that bombed terror camps across Pakistan and Pok.

Official sources also attested to the fact that India successfully downed more than 50 drones en route to sensitive military installations at Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur.

What are ATGMs and Why Do They Matter?

Anti-tank guided Missiles are specifically made to blow up heavily armoured vehicles, especially tanks. In contrast to previous systems, these missiles are “guided,” which means that they can target something and course-correct during the air. This greatly enhances accuracy and enables soldiers to attack from a safe distance.

ATGMS can be fired from many different platforms — shoulder firings, tripods, vehicles, or aircraft. Their versatility and accuracy have made them imperative in defensive and offensive military tactics.

How ATGMS Works

ATGMS depend mostly on a shaped charge — a concentrated explosive that can penetrate thick tank armour. Newer versions employ tandem warheads. The initial blast destroys protective systems such as explosive reactive armour (ERA), and the second enters the tank’s core.

A few systems provide a ‘top-attack’ option, attacking a tank’s thinner upper armour. Others are fitted with dual-mode seekers that enhance target tracking, even in sophisticated combat conditions.

Can Tanks Defend Themselves?

Tanks are not completely defenceless against ATGMS. Some employ slat armour or reactive plates that initiate premature detonation of incoming missiles. Advanced defence systems such as Israel’s Trophy are even capable of intercepting ATGMS mid-air. Tanks also employ smokescreens or fire-and-forget options to come out of these engagements alive.

But as India’s retaliation indicates, even the most sophisticated tank defence mechanisms are being tested by the increasing accuracy and range of latest-generation ATGMs.

Global Spread and Future Outlook

ATGMS are currently in operation in more than 130 countries and have become a standard element in such conflicts as the Russia-Ukraine war. India’s recent employment serves to highlight not only the missile’s tactical value but also the evolving nature of combat engagement.

As with the Indian Army indicating its preparedness and capability to counter any provocation, the employment of ATGMS gives a stark message — the country will never shy away from protecting its sovereignty using precise firepower.

Rajnath Singh Warns, Test India’s Patience and Face a Quality Response

<excerpt>Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivers a strong warning to Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, redefining India’s defence stance.
</excerpt>

India has clearly marked a bold red line after the successful conduct of a high-accuracy military operation—Operation Sindoor. In clear and direct language, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Thursday that India will not endure any provocation or threat to its sovereignty. Precisely, he indicated the destruction of nine terror camps spread across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Additionally, Rajnath Singh made a threatening warning: one who tests the patience of India should prepare to face what he termed a quality response.

Interestingly, his remarks came merely a day after the Indian military conducted the cross-border raid with precision and very little collateral damage. Therefore, the operation is not only illustrative of India’s operational power—it represents a dramatic change in its strategic positioning. Beyond showing military power, it delivers an unmistakable message to rivals: India will respond quickly, unambiguously, and unhesitantly.

Rajnath Singh’s Stern and Strategic Message

First, Rajnath Singh reaffirmed India’s age-old commitment to diplomacy and peace. But he very soon made one thing clear that such patience did not mean being passive. “We have always acted like a responsible nation,” he stated. “But whoever attempts to misuse our patience needs to be prepared for another Operation Sindoor.”

Evidently, Rajnath Singh’s words were well-timed. Hours earlier, Indian troops had launched a bold, precision strike on the other side of the Line of Control. Thus, his words served to emphasize not just determination, but preparedness. He left no doubt: India will retaliate, if provoked again—accurately and with purpose.

Operation Sindoor: A Benchmark in Precision Warfare

In addition, Operation Sindoor is notable for its precision and efficacy. The Indian army, employing sophisticated coordination and state-of-the-art weapons, attacked nine terror camps across enemy territory. Consequently, numerous terrorists were killed. Notably, the operation spared civilian lives—illustrating the Indian military’s capacity to balance power with prudence.

Rajnath Singh complimented the professionalism of the operation, declaring, “It was carried out with unimaginable precision. No harm came to innocents.” This not only complimented military execution but also underscored India’s developing capability to combat hybrid threats while maintaining humanitarian values.

Clear Evolution in India’s Military Posture

Against this, it is clear that Operation Sindoor is a sign of something greater than tactical victory—it signifies a shift in India’s defense doctrine. For decades, India liked to respond to provocation with long drawn-out diplomatic machinations. Nowadays, though, that strategy has been replaced with one that trusts quick, measured reactions. With this, there is a need for adversaries to rethink their presumptions.

Rajnath Singh also noted that the operation was made possible by India’s modernized military. “Our capable and professionally trained soldiers, with high-quality equipment, made this possible,” he said. Essentially, India is claiming that it now has both the will and the capability to enforce red lines when needed.

Pakistan is Now Facing a Strategic Crossroads

By Operation Sindoor, India has altered Islamabad’s equation. Pakistan can either choose genuine anti-terrorist cooperation. Or it has to be ready for more accurate and stronger reprisals if attempts at provocation persist.

In plain words, Rajnath Singh’s message leaves no room for ambiguity. India will no longer wait to act. The next Operation Sindoor—if need be—will be accompanied with the same accuracy and determination.

India’s Message is Loud and Clear

In short, Operation Sindoor and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s words herald a new era in India’s strategic stance. India will still prefer peace and diplomacy, but at no cost to national security. In the future, provocations will be responded to with quick, proportionate, and technologically sophisticated counterattacks.

The warning to India’s enemies is unambiguous: do not confuse restraint with weakness. Respect India’s borders—or face a “quality response.” India has drawn a line, and this time that line will not blur.

Led by NSA Doval and supported by NTRO, the mission was precise, non-escalatory, and aimed at avoiding collateral damage.
</excerpt>

India-Pakistan tensions have surged to a boiling point after India’s military strikes on the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians, comprising primarily tourists, lost their lives. In retaliatory action, Indian armed forces made targeted missile attacks in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the early hours of Wednesday, May 7.

Conducted under the flag of Operation Sindoor, the raids targeted 21 terror camps located in nine various places. The attacks were ‘focused, measured, and non-escalatory’, as stated by the government, with the aim that no military bases were targeted.

What Triggered the Operation

The offensive was initiated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm declaration to “identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers.” Two of the key targets included Jaish-e-Mohammad’s headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Markaz Taiba in Muridke both suspected of harbouring terrorists involved in planning attacks against India.

NSA Doval’s Strategy

The strategy for Operation Sindoor was conceptualized by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. He constituted a special team that obtained comprehensive intelligence about terror activities throughout Pakistan and PoK. The team located new hideouts and had 24/7 coverage to track movement and possible changes in these camps.

After the intelligence was pooled, NSA Doval briefed PM Modi and underscored that only terror camps would be attacked to cause the least collateral damage, according to a report by News18. The Prime Minister approved and reviewed the plan after which Doval sat with his team again to sharpen the implementation.

The Role of NTRO

The National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO) was the key player in the operation. Responsible for terminal intelligence gathering, the NTRO works directly under the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security Council, headed by NSA Doval.

Formed after the 1999 Kargil War and formally organized in 2004, the NTRO processes signals and imagery intelligence, cyber surveillance, and technology support for primary agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). It was placed under the Intelligence Organisations (Restriction of Rights) Act, 1985, in 2017 and brought its procedures in line with those of IB and R&AW.

NTRO also undertakes geospatial mapping and analysis and collaborates with organizations such as ISRO, DRDO, and the National Informatics Centre. The organization has played key roles in previous security operations such as the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Balakot airstrikes, Galwan clash, and prevention of cyberattacks on sensitive infrastructure.

Execution and Aftermath

After strategic planning and clearance, a control room was established under NSA Doval’s supervision. Between 1.05 am and 1.30 am on May 7, the Indian troops carried out the operation.

The assailants, dressed in camouflage, executed the assault with chilling precision. Responsibility was later claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

</excerpt>

The Central government convened an all-party meeting following the launch of Operation Sindoor—a targeted military operation against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. The operation followed the Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting, a day later, was intended to apprise opposition and government leaders. It addressed the goals, targets hit, and India’s readiness for retaliation.

This time around, the reaction from the opposition was different. In contrast to 2016 and 2019, leaders from all parties were unanimous in their support for the operation.

#WATCH | Centre holds all-party meeting to brief all political parties on #OperationSindoor pic.twitter.com/q96NZnhUY6

— ANI (@ANI) May 8, 2025

Opposition’s Reaction in 2016: URI Strikes

Earlier in 2016, there was tension following the Uri attack that resulted in the death of numerous Indian soldiers. The Modi government retaliated with surgical strikes along the LoC. Congress president Sonia Gandhi approved the move at first.

However, her son Rahul Gandhi later alleged that PM Modi had politicized the soldiers’ sacrifice. A number of opposition leaders called for evidence of the strike. Consequently, the moment of solidarity did not last long and soon transformed into political controversy.

2019: Balakot Air Strikes

The same trend continued in 2019. Following the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel, India conducted airstrikes against Balakot. Opposition parties questioned this too. Some wondered if the strike was effective.

Others accused the BJP of politicizing the military action. 21 opposition parties issued a joint statement condemning this. The atmosphere was more combative than collaborative.

Support for Operation Sindoor

This time, though, the mood was different. Operation Sindoor elicited without exception wholehearted support. There were no calls for evidence. No political acrimony. The Congress Working Committee even went so far as to officially endorse the military operation.

They suspended party activities even to demonstrate solidarity. This reaction was in stark contrast to their responses in previous years.

Operation Sindoor: Revenge of Pahalgam Attack

The Pahalgam attack, which resulted in the death of 26 individuals—most of them tourists—left the whole country shocked. The outrage was vociferous and nationwide. The sadness was profound and intimate. Politicians responded by setting aside their traditional rivalries. The people’s pressure played a significant part in bringing them together. Political games had little room in the wake of this tragedy.

Operation Sindoor represents a distinct shift in India’s political reaction to terror. National security was once a priority, for a change. As relations with Pakistan remain strained, this unusual consensus carries a powerful message. It proves that when the country is on the same side when it comes to combating terror, political divisions don’t matter.

</excerpt>

Gulmarg, Kashmir’s legendary ski resort and site of the world’s second-highest cable car—the Gondola ride—has gone quiet. On Thursday, authorities suspended Gondola operations and shut down the ski resort to tourists as a security measure, due to its proximity to the Line of Control (LoC).

The move is in the backdrop of heightened tensions in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the horrific April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians, comprising tourists and a pony handler, were brutally massacred. The TRF, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy group, had issued a claim for the massacre in which victims were killed based on their religion. The brutality of the attack has shocked the Valley, wiping out the tourism sector.

The Gondola ride, a symbol of peace-time tourism in Kashmir, has experienced a significant dip in visitors. Cancellations have crossed 40,000 in a mere fortnight, causing calculated losses of ₹15 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation.

As the Valley struggles to cope with heightened security threats and the fallouts of Operation Sindoor, the closure of Gulmarg is a grim reminder of how deeply terrorism hits at the economic and stability core of Kashmir.

</excerpt>

India’s Operation Sindoor has brought South Asia’s air power competition into the spotlight with fresh vigor. During its counter-terror strikes in terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-held Kashmir, the Indian Air Force used its advanced Rafale combat aircraft armed with Scalp missiles (Storm Shadow) and HAMMER precision-guided bombs. As tensions escalate, any military retaliation by Pakistan would tend to employ its frontline F-16s, which are provided by the United States.”

This face-off brings to mind fundamental questions: how do these warriors stack up on technology, weapons, stealth, and operational preparedness? And more importantly, can Pakistan’s older, limited fleet compete with India’s state-of-the-art, unfettered Rafales?

Operation Sindoor: Why This Matters Now ?

India launched Operation Sindoor as a counter to the recent terror attack at Pahalgam. The operation struck nine locations in Pakistan and PoK: Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

India employed its Rafale aircraft, which were armed with Scalp missiles and Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) bombs. These are designed for deep penetration and precision attacks—perfect for targeting well-protected terror camps. The operation is the Rafale’s most aggressive deployment since induction, leaving Pakistan on high alert.

Jets: Rafale and F-16 Origins

India’s Rafales are French manufactured and produced by Dassault Aviation. They are a 4.5-generation aircraft famous for multirole capability and versatility.

Pakistan’s F-16s, named Fighting Falcons, are fourth-generation jets. They were developed by General Dynamics and now produced by Lockheed Martin.

Rafale has twin engines, providing it with increased thrust, stability, and survivability during combat. F-16 has a single engine, which makes it lightweight and agile during dogfights but less adaptable in high-threat scenarios.

Weapons and Electronics: Superiority in Systems

The airframe of Rafale, being semi-stealth, has reduced detection by radar. Its RBE2-AA AESA radar can target multiple objects and directs its precision weapons with speed and accuracy.

The plane has 13 India-specific upgrades. One of them is the Meteor BVR (Beyond Visual Range) missile, which has a huge 120-km range and an unmatched ‘no-escape zone.’ This implies that a target acquired by a Rafale has little opportunity to evade or survive.

Rafales are also fitted with Scalp (Storm Shadow) missiles and HAMMER bombs—for accurate, distant attacks. In addition, SPECTRA electronic warfare suite to jam hostile radars and spot threats in real time.

X-Guard fiber-optic towed decoy system of the aircraft allows Rafales to repel air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles—essentially impossible to catch.

In contrast, Pakistani F-16s have AIM-120C5 AMRAAMs and JDAM bombs. Although the AMRAAMS used to pose a threat for India, their arrival of Rafale changed this. Meteor superior to AMRAAM in reach as well as kill probability.

BVR Edge of Combat: Meteor vs AMRAAM

Rafale has an advantage in BVR combat. Rafale’s Meteor missile not just has a larger reach than that of AMRAAM, it also provides barely any window of opportunity for evading the attack to the target.

AMRAAM has an effective range of approximately 100 km. Meteor is 120 km and has the capability to attack high-speed, maneuvering targets.

That is important because most modern aerial combat takes place beyond visual range. Whoever fires first tends to win. The combination of Rafale’s AESA radar and Meteor provides India with that first-shot capability.

Close Combat Potential

The F-16 excels in close combat. Its lightweight structure and high thrust-to-weight ratio make it responsive in dogfighting. But getting to that range is the problem.

Rafale’s advanced radar, stealth, and long-range missile system allow it to attack before the F-16 closes in. If the engagement becomes protracted, Rafale’s two engines, electronic warfare, and decoys give it a critical advantage.

Fleet Sustainability and Future Readiness

This is where India gains ground with a longer-term advantage. Pakistan has approximately 75 F-16s. But the maintenance is becoming increasingly difficult. US limitations impose that these fighters can be deployed only for defense missions. There are also economic difficulties in making spares and upgrades available.

India, conversely, is not so held back. Rafales are younger, entirely Indian-controlled, and supported by continual French aid and spare parts stream. This autonomy difference might be crucial in a long or multi-fronted conflict.

Aside from hardware, there is geopolitics. Pakistan has long depended on US military assistance and equipment. But with the US stepping back after Afghanistan, Pakistan’s leverage and support are waning. India, on the other hand, has diversified vendors—from France to Israel—and established a more self-sufficient military-industrial agenda.

This airborne standoff is not merely a strategic comparison. It’s a photo of how every nation is positioning itself for the next decade of war.

Rafale Flies Higher, But Look to the Skies

The Rafale undoubtedly dominates long-range combat, technology, and survivability. Pakistan’s F-16s remain biter close in, but fleet age limits, external dependency, and evasion from radar make them susceptible.

As tensions build in the subcontinent, eyes will be on these jets—not only for their military roles, but as emblems of national power, readiness, and strategic vision.

</excerpt>

In another humiliating incident, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has invited the world to ridicule him by referring to “social media content” as proof of the shooting down of Indian fighter jets during India’s Operation Sindoor. The operation, conducted on May 7, targeted and destroyed nine major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack.

Khawaja Asif, who has already made headlines for his incendiary comments, informed CNN that Pakistan had downed five Indian aircraft. But when the anchor asked him to provide tangible evidence, his explanation was tenuous at best. “It’s all over social media, on Indian social media, not on our social media. The debris of these jets fell in Indian-occupied Kashmir,” he said, to which the anchor sternly responded, “The reason to talk to you today is not to talk about content on social media. I’m asking specifically for the evidence, details.”

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif is a Clown ?

CNN asked Pak Defence Minister : Where is the proof that Pakistan Shot Down Indian Fighter Jets.

Pak Defence Minister: It’s everywhere on Social media.

Aur inko Kashmir chahiye ?#OperationSindoor #IndiaPakistanWar pic.twitter.com/ithQGRFdNn

— Amitabh Chaudhary (@MithilaWaala) May 8, 2025

Evasive Responses Undermine Credibility

Instead of showing any provable facts, Asif evaded questions again and again and even steered the topic towards geopolitics. “No Chinese equipment. We have Chinese planes, but they are being manufactured and assembled in Islamabad now. If India can buy planes from France and use them, we can also buy planes from China or Russia or the US, or the UK,” he asserted. He then made a false statement, “They have already admitted that their 3 planes were downed.”

When the interviewer once more asked the type of equipment supposedly utilized, Asif bumbled his way through yet another evasive answer, “The Indian planes were downed in the dogfight. Missiles were fired from our planes, and they were shot down. What sort of equipment are you referring to?”

History of Embarrassing Statements

This is not the first time Khawaja Asif has caused controversy. In a past interview with Yalda Hakim of Sky News, he acknowledged, “Pakistan has been doing the dirty work for the United States and the West for three decades.” His remark was met with outrage, particularly when referring to Pakistan’s historic history of sheltering and supporting terror organizations.

As Operation Sindoor continues to expose terror networks across the border, Pakistan’s use of misinformation, bolstered by top officials like Asif, only highlights the growing chasm between rhetoric and reality. As fake news floods Pakistani media and social platforms, India has relied on fact-checks and official briefings to maintain transparency.
