Nepal Court Lifts Ban On Adipurush But Kathmandu Mayor Vows To Defy Order

June 23, 2023, 10:04 am

On Thursday, Nepal court lifted the ban on Kriti Sanon and Prabhas starrer Adipurush. However, the Mayor of Kathmandu has vowed to defy order. The Nepal court lifted the ban on all Hindi films, and the list includes Om Raut’s directorial Adipurush too. It has requested the authorities to not halt any screening of films that have been passed by the censor board of the country. But, Kathmandu Mayor is against the screening of Adipurush because of a dialogue that states Sita as ‘India’s daughter’.

Expressing his disagreement, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah shared a Facebook post which reads: “The film’s writer said that Nepal was under India, this clearly shows India’s ill intention. To term this as a stunt by the Nepal government and to issue an order by the court in favour of screening the movie means, to accept that Nepal was once under India’s rule, the court and the government are both the slaves of India.”

Bhagvan Raam ne hi hume sikhaya hai ki Shabri ke ber me uska prem dekho naki ye ki wo jhoothe the… Insan ki galtiyon ko nhi uski bhawna ko samjho. Jai Shri Ram (With a positive outlook, the whole world will seem beautiful. Lord Ram himself taught us to find love in Shabri’s ‘ber’, and not pay heed to the fact that Shabri lied. Don’t focus on a person’s mistakes, focus on their emotions. Jai shri Ram).”

1987 TV Show Ramayan Actor Sunil Lahri Slams Saif Ali Khan’s Look In Adipurush

Sunil questioned Saif Ali Khan’s look and compared it to Virat Kohli. He shared, “Ram and Lakshman didn’t have any differentiation, looked and behaved the same. Then Raavan was made into a blacksmith, where he is beating iron. What was the need? Meghnad is a man with tattoos and the hairstyle of these characters is obnoxious. Raavan has the same haircut as Virat Kohli. It’s a shame.” Sunil added, “Starting with Pushpak Viman, which Ravaan used. Uske jagah yaha chamgadar le ke aagaye. Ram is seen fighting the war on Hanuman’s shoulder, whereas Lord Indra bestowed a carriage for him. To make it look more dramatic, they have got Lakshman and Meghnad fighting in water, whereas it’s said that Meghnad used his power to disappear then.”

Adipurush teaser: ‘If the character is from Sri-Lanka, they should not look like Mughals’, says ‘Sita’

October 5, 2022, 12:53 pm

The ‘Adipurush’ teaser has received a lot of backlashes since it was launched at a grand event in Ayodhya, last week. Now actor Deepika Chikhlia’s response to the teaser has surfaced on the internet. She said that the teaser shows the antagonist, Raavan, as a Mughal, not a Si-Lankan.

Deepika has portrayed the iconic role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. She is still known for her role even after four decades later. Many refer to her as the ‘real Sita’.
Adipurush is an upcoming film which is adapted from the Hindu mythological epic Ramayan. Directed by Om Raut, the movie stars Prabhas as Ram and Raavan is played by Saif Ali Khan. The teaser has been criticized mainly for the VFX quality and the improper looks of the characters. The VFX is being compared to animated movies and memes on the movie are ruling social media.

In an interview, Deepika talked about the Adipurush teaser. She said, “A film’s characters must appeal to the audience. If the character is from Sri Lanka, they should not look like the Mughals. I could not understand much as we get to see him for mere 30 seconds in the teaser, but he does look different. I agree that times have changed and VFX is an essential part but only as long as the people’s sentiments are not hurt. (But then) It is only a teaser, maybe it does not do justice to the film.”

The director has also responded to the wide criticism, “I was disheartened but not surprised because the film is made for a larger medium. You can cut it down to some extent, but can’t bring it down to a mobile phone, that’s an environment I can’t control. If given a choice, I had never put it on YouTube but that’s the need of the hour. We need to put it there so that it reaches a wide audience.”
