</excerpt>

Bollywood stars thronged Jamnagar to ring in the New Year in style, and Ananya Panday posted a memorable moment from the celebrations on Instagram. The picture included several celebrities, including Janhvi Kapoor, Shikhar Pahariya, Radhika Merchant, Anant Ambani, and Veer Pahariya, as they celebrated together.

Ananya Panday’s post captioned “Happy shiny friends,” had been the most delightful of them all, but the most shining in the entire celebrations was Janhvi’s attire.

For the day, Janhvi wore a bright cropped sweater from Christopher John Rogers; however, it was the eye-catcher for the overall outfit. The bold horizontal stripes of the sweater were in a range of vibrant colours, including pale green, yellow, orange, blue, and plum. The midriff-baring fit, full-length sleeves, and round neckline made her look a fashionable youngster that matched with the forthcoming festive mood. The sweater is priced at approximately ₹24,256.89, a splurge for those wanting to emulate her style.

Janhvi wore dark blue acid-washed denim pants with the jumper, creating a laid-back yet eye-catching ensemble. She eschewed accessories in favour of a simple look that emphasised her inherent attractiveness. Her backcombed hair completed the carefree look of her outfit. The bright skin, shiny pink lips, and thin layer of makeup completed the outfit, making her look effortlessly festive.

“My dear fellow countrymen, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all of you for the New Year 2025. </excerpt>

As the festive season takes hold across the city, Bengaluru police have stepped up security measures to manage large crowds ahead of New Year celebrations.

The Bengaluru Police have rolled out extensive security measures in several key areas where large gatherings are expected, including the bustling MG Road-Brigade Road junction, a popular hotspot for festive activities, as well as the lively neighbourhoods of Koramangala and Indira Nagar. Additional attention has been focused on JP Nagar and Whitefield, areas known for their vibrant nightlife and celebrations during this time.

The police announced that 11,000 personnel would be deployed for New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city, including 72 KSRP platoons and 21 City Armed Reserve platoons. Security will be heightened in key hotspots such as MG Road-Brigade Road junction, Koramangala, and Indira Nagar, with measures in place to prevent drunk driving and ensure public safety.

Speaking to ANI, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda stated, “Bengaluru City Police has made tight security arrangements for New Year celebrations in all parts of the city, wherever such events are scheduled and a large number of people are likely to gather. The main hotspots are MG Road-Brigade Road junction, Koramangala, Indira Nagar, JP Nagar and Whitefield. Many private parties are also likely to be organised on the outskirts of the city. We have made tight security arrangements, from the commissioner to the last man in the police station, all of us will be on duty throughout the night. Around 11,000 personnel and officers have been deployed.”

“We have around 72 KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) platoons, 21 (City Armed Reserve) CAR platoons and an adequate number of home guards, traffic wardens and civil defence also pressed into service,” he added.

On December 29, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that while individual New Year’s celebrations in Bengaluru will not be stopped, the government has declared mourning for government work and offices following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Shivakumar emphasized the need to maintain law and order, particularly in Bengaluru, which he described as an international city. “For New Year we can’t stop the celebration, we can’t stop individual celebrations, we have announced mourning for govt work and offices. Almost 10 thousand cameras were installed for the safety of everyone for the New Year celebration, it’s an international city so we should be careful about law and order and we don’t even restrict business fraternity as well. Everyone must maintain law and order, you can consider this as a warning or request..,” he said.

</excerpt>

Minutes after the X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) to study X-ray emission from various celestial sources was launched successfully, ISRO announced that the lift-off was normal.
Addressing the scientists after the successful launch of the mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S Somanath said the PSLV-C58 vehicle placed the satellite precisely into the intended orbit of 650 km, with a 6-degree inclination.

“From this point, the orbit of the PSLV will be reduced to a lower orbit, where the upper stage of the PSLV which is now described as POEM will carry out experiments with nine of the onboard payloads and that will take some time,” Somanath added.
He said the orbit is “excellent” and the distance from the targetted orbit is just 3 kms in circular orbit of 650 kms. Inclination is 0.01 degree, which is one of the excellent conditions.

He also apprised that the solar panel of the launched satellite has been deployed sucessfully.
The satellite that was launched from Sriharikota spaceport on Monday at 9.10 am, as scheduled, among others, would offer insights into space-based polarisation measurements of X-ray emission from various celestial sources.

The objective of the mission is to measure polarisation of X-rays in the energy band 8-30keV emanating from about 50 potential cosmic sources through Thomson Scattering by POLIX payload. To carry out long term spectral and temporal studies of cosmic X-ray sources in the energy band 0.8-15keV by XSPECT payload. To carry out polarisation and spectroscopic measurements of X-ray emissions from cosmic sources by POLIX and XSPECT payloads respectively in the common energy band.

The emission mechanism from various astronomical sources such as blackhole, neutron stars, active galactic nuclei, pulsar wind nebulae etc. originates from complex physical processes and are challenging to understand. The exact nature of the emission from such sources still poses deeper challenges to astronomers. The polarimetry measurements add two more dimension to understanding, the degree of polarization and the angle of polarization and thus is a diagnostic tool to understand the emission processes from astronomical sources.

In a stellar display of prowess, India soared to new heights in 2023 with the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of moon and the launch of Aditya-L1, India’s first solar mission.
These milestones not only secured India’s standing in the global space economy but also fueled the engines for the private space sector in India.

Among other feats India now aims for are the Gaganyaan Mission in 2024, setting up ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035, and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

</excerpt>

With another new year about to begin, as usual there is hope of something new happening – new opportunities, developments, and new ways of doing things. It is with this expectation of newness that we wish each other a happy new year and look forward to the next twelve months. However, other than a change of date, what is really new in a new year? The people and circumstances are mostly the same; in some ways the challenges only increase.

We tend to see human history as a steady progression towards greater knowledge and a better life. In material terms, human development is said to have brought us from the Stone Age to the Space Age. Advancements in science and technology over the past hundred years alone have transformed our lives, bringing greater comfort, amenities, and ease of doing various tasks.

But at the same time, we have suffered a spiritual decline, as denoted by the characterisation of history as a transition from the Golden Age, or Satyug, to the Iron Age, or Kaliyug. The Golden Age was a period of unalloyed purity, peace, and happiness. The defining qualities of the Iron Age, in contrast, are falsehood, conflict, and sorrow. The present condition of the world is definitely akin to Kaliyug and far from that of Satyug. We remember that earlier period of joy, and worship those who lived at that time as deities.

These deities, who lived thousands of years ago, are venerated to this day because of their sterling qualities. The period when they lived, sometimes referred to as ‘Ram Rajya’, is regarded as an ideal rule or kingdom defined by righteous governance, equality and justice, peace and harmony, prosperity and welfare.

It is a telling comment on the present state of mankind that ‘Ram Rajya’, which was once a reality, is now an aspirational goal, periodically invoked in speeches but tacitly accepted as impossible to achieve.
The root cause of this decline is our spiritual downfall, gradually brought about by repeated compromises with our original qualities of purity, peace, and truth, and succumbing to vices such as greed, selfishness, ego, and anger. The current state of the world is a creation and reflection of the souls living in it.

For the new year to be truly new, the newness will have to begin in the soul. When our thoughts and actions begin to be guided by the soul’s innate virtues, and not by vices, our experiences, relationships, and our entire life will change.

The first step towards this newness is to recognise the fact that we are souls, not bodies. We are children of the Supreme Soul, endowed with His qualities. When we accept this reality and live with this awareness, it will transform the way we see ourselves and others. The resulting spiritual upliftment and bonding with other souls will lay the foundation of an enlightened society.

Without this spiritual rejuvenation, we will persist with our old ways in the new year, and continue to suffer the consequences. The new year will be truly a happy one when we develop a new awareness of the self, our relationship with God, and our spiritual kinship with the entire human family.

The state’s rich heritage, culture, forts, and desert landscapes are attracting visitors from across India and abroad.

Between October and December 25th, over 2.5 lakh tourists visited just two historical sites in Jaipur—Nahargarh Fort and Albert Hall—underscoring the tourism boom. Jaipur alone is welcoming more than 50,000 tourists daily, with over 15,000 coming from international destinations. The surge in tourist numbers has contributed significantly to the state’s economy, with Jaipur generating an estimated revenue of Rs 30-40 crore during this season.

Mahendra Khadgawat, Director of the Rajasthan Archeology and Museum Department, highlighted the substantial increase in tourism and anticipated further growth in January. The state’s Tourism Department is planning to expand facilities, especially for night tourism, to meet the growing demand and enhance the overall tourist experience.

Despite challenges such as travel and parking, tourists are captivated by Rajasthan’s beauty. Visitors express admiration for the historical buildings, structures, and vibrant cultural aspects. The economic boost from tourism is not only providing revenue but also reinforcing Rajasthan’s status as a preferred destination for travellers seeking a blend of tradition, history, and natural beauty.

In the Kanjhawala hit-and-drag case, Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was added by the Delhi Police on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the IPC’s Sections 304, “culpable homicide not amounting to murder,” and 302 are used to charge “murder” in the case.

Sagar Preet Hooda, special CP, Law & Order (Zone II, Delhi), said, “After the collection of evidence, police have added IPC Section 302 in place of Section 304.”

Moreover, the murder section was included by the police based on the physical, oral, forensic, and other scientific evidence collected.

However, further investigation into the case is underway.

Earlier in the day, the Rohini Court granted accused Ashutosh bail on a Rs 50,000 bond. Rohini’s court imposed a condition on his departure, stating that he would not leave Delhi without the court’s permission.

Earlier on 12 January the Rohini court rejected Ashutosh Bhardwai’s bail plea because of the gravity and sensitivity of the allegations. The court said that the investigation against Ashutosh is still in its initial stages.

However, Anjali was killed in the early hours of the New Year after her scooter was hit by a car and she was dragged under the vehicle for 13 kilometers on the city’s roads.

In the Kanjhawala case, the Rohini court rejects Ashutosh Bhardwai’s bail plea on Thursday because of the gravity and sensitivity of the allegations.

The court said that the investigation against Ashutosh is still in the initial stages.

Meanwhile, the bail plea of Ashutosh was opposed by Delhi Police as during the investigation the accused tried to confuse the police.

Earlier in the day the bail plea of Ashutosh was reserved after hearing the submissions of Delhi police and defense counsel. After which Ashutosh’s lawyer said that Ashutosh was not present in the car at the time of the incident.

However, Ashutosh Bhardwaj’s counsel advocate Shipesh Chaudhary said when the incident took place his applicant was at his home. In this Ashutosh’s counsel submitted Ashutosh’s iPhone which records the live locations.

“The only allegations against him are under 212, 201, 120B Part, and these are bailable in nature,” Chaudhary said.

Chaudhary further said when the offense was committed Ashutosh was not in the car.

“Another accused Ankush is on bail,” Chaudhary said.

“Before the stage of charge, the document can’t be produced by the defense. The authenticity of this video can’t be established as these are without section 65B of the Evidence Act certificate,” Special public prosecutor (SPP) Atul Srivastava said.

SPP Srivastava also submitted, “We never said he (Ashutosh) was in the car. Our stand is that he provided his vehicle to a person who was not authorized to drive.”

“He did not inform the police regarding the accident for which he was under legal compulsion. He didn’t inform the police about the incident despite having knowledge,” SPP said.

However, in the early hours of New Year Anjali was killed after her scooty was hit by a car and for 13 kilometers was dragged under the vehicle on the city’s roads.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he will set out priorities on his first speech of 2023. He reassured the Conservative Party that he has what it takes to lead them into the next national elections. “This is personal for me. Every Opportunity I have had in life began with the education I was so fortunate to receive.” He will be setting out a new ambition of ensuring that all school pupils in England study some form of math to the age of 18. He said, “And it’s the single most important reason why I came into politics: to give every child the highest possible standard of education… With the right plan – the right commitment to excellence – I see no reason why we cannot rival the best education systems in the world.”

Last year after failing to become the prime minister, Sunak took on job after his predecessor, Liz Truss was forced out of power in October after markets rejected her unfunded tax-cutting plans. This led to a myriad of problems. Thousands of workers have gone on strike to protest over pay, healthcare service and inflation. Few economists see Britain slipping into a long recession.

In the Kanjhawala case, the post-mortem reports of Anjali who was dragged under the car have come which revealed that no sexual assault happened and the cause of death is a vehicular accident.

Meanwhile, the Post Mortem Examination (PME) ruled out ‘sexual assault’ on Tuesday. The Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) three-member medical board, in New Delhi, conducted the Post Mortem Examination of Anjali.

Earlier on 2 January in case FIR no. 2/23 Sultanpuri Police Station PME was conducted. Talking to the media Special CP Law and Order, Delhi, SP Hooda said, “the report states the provisional cause of death as shock and haemorrhage due to antemortem injury to the head, spine, left femur, and both lower limbs”.

Moreover, by blunt force, all the injuries are produced by vehicular accidents and dragging. No injury has been suggestive of sexual assault in Anjali’s PME.

However, further investigation into the case is underway.

In the early hours of New Year Anjali was killed after her scooty was hit by a car and for 13 kilometers was dragged under the vehicle on the city’s roads.

Furthermore, in the Kanjhawala case five people had been arrested and under 304 A (death due to negligence) has been registered, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District), Harendra K Singh on Monday.

A woman who was with her boyfriend is said to have been molested on the church street in Bangaluru’s Kormangala. Her boyfriend hit the criminals in order to save her girlfriend. However, the criminals got away before the cops showed up.

When asked to confirm the occurrence and whether the victim had filed a complaint, the police were not readily available. At Kormangala, Bengaluru police frequently used lathi-charges to disperse crowds of people who were standing outside the pubs to look at people dancing inside the pubs.

At Church Street, Brigade Road, and MG Road, a sizable police contingent was stationed. The police established 37 women’s safety islands throughout the city, including in the CBD. Every 100 metres, watch towers were built.

Police officers from the BBMP were spotted telling people to wear masks on Church Street and other adjoining roads. Any attempts to sell drugs were being observed by plainclothes police officers. Approximately 14,000 police officers were stationed throughout the city.

More security personnel were deployed in locations with a high concentration of bars, such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala, Indiranagar, JP Nagar, and others. In order to stop intoxicated driving, checkpoints were placed every 200 metres. The staff at the checkpoints not only booked the drivers but also made sure the violators reach home safely.

</excerpt>

GOOD OL’ TO-DO LIST

Do you have a to-do list? Of course, many of us do. The famous to-do list concept is the backbone of most productivity systems; it is used to track tasks and manage your attention throughout the day. We’re all aware of making a to-do list to improve our productivity.

THE HIDDEN GEM- ‘NOT-TO-DO’ LIST

We all have a to-do list, but how many of us have a notto-do List? So far, you have been concentrating on getting things done. Also, it is essential to spend your time accomplishing only those things that matter. You may get carried away with the momentum of performing task after task, many of which are not even adding any value to your productive day. At work, a gazillion errands desire your attention, out of which only some are valuable. As necessary as it is to do important things, it is equally critical to not do things that are of no value. Example: Do not agree to meetings or calls with no clear agenda or end time. That meeting or call doesn’t hold any value until you have a clear agenda, date, time, and venue for it.

TO-DO LIST OR NOT-TO-DO LIST?

As a productivity enthusiast, I say to-do lists are powerful, but a complementary approach can further improve our productivity: the not-to-do List.” You don’t need to stop making your everyday to-do list, instead, make a not-to-do list alongside. A not-to-do list is a convenient tool to stay more attentive to the crucial things in your personal and professional life. In simple words, it’s a list of tasks you don’t do, no matter what. You delete them, delegate them, outsource them, or just say no when they try to crawl back their way on your to-do list. A very well-thought-out not-to-do list helps you maintain better focus and only execute tasks that produce the greatest value. Another advantage of a notto-do List is that you become more realistic as you focus on the most significant tasks at least 85% of the time. Example: Do not check e-mail constantly; “batch” and check at set times only. This way, your mind doesn’t wander towards your emails, and the maximum focus is on your task.

WHAT IS A NOT-TO-DO LIST?

To be more clear, it’s not a list of bad habits you’re committed to breaking or negative behaviour you want to be sure to avoid. Example: No junk food today. That won’t help. That is a habit that has to be integrated into your lifestyle. It’s a list of tasks that you must not do to avoid time wastage and concentration lapse. Also, these tasks are irrelevant, as they don’t lead you to any of your larger objectives, hamper your work, and aren’t even compulsory for you to perform. Realistically, you are much better off not accomplishing them. You have two options- either not to do that task or delegate it to someone. Example: Say no to social media indulgence every hour. Decide upon a time and scroll through your social media feed at that designated time. A not-to-do list will not only bring you clarity but also inner peace because there will be less shame and anxiety over things you think you should do, but are having trouble getting to. It may sound weird. You’re busy enough already but set aside a little chunk of time, half an hour to begin with and then subsequently lesser time, for creating your not-to-do-list. The productivity you gain will be so worth it.

UPGRADE YOUR LIFE WITH A NOT-TO-DO LIST

Did you know: What you don’t do determines what you can do. Here are five unproductive habits that entrepreneurs and other professionals should aim to eliminate. When you avoid non-trivial tasks consciously, it’ll automatically funnel your energy into things that you want to do. And that is how you can maximise your performance. 1.Do not carry mobile phones to washroomsThis is not just a big time waster but an energydrainer too. 2.Do not e-mail first thing in the morning or last thing at night- This idea messes up with your priorities and plans for the day. It can wait until 10.00 a.m.- 11.00 a.m. when you are done with your one big hairy task. 3. Do not take calls from any unrecognised numbersThis is just an unwanted interruption that you are not looking for. 4. Do not start a day without a productive techniqueThere are a lot of techniques available to have better time management skills and clarity. From Pomodoro technique to Pareto analysis, Eisenhower matrix to simple Time-Blocking methodjust go for anything. There are more than seven such techniques, you can go for. 5. Do not work straightup for hours if you have a sedentary job- Take a break frequently for some humble stretching. This is important for your physical as well as your mental health.

FINAL TAKE

Target just a couple of notto-do items, just as you would with high-priority to-do items. The blessings of a not-to-do list are understated. It enables you to get rid of not-so-important tasks with ease. Now that you understand the importance of a not-to-do List, create your own. Unleash the power now.
