Naxalites Detonate Police Vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur, 9 Dead

A group of Naxalites detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on Monday, targeting a vehicle carrying police personnel in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. The blast occurred on Bedre-Kutru Road while the vehicle, carrying around 20 soldiers, was returning from an anti-Naxal operation conducted the previous day. Nine people have been killed so far, including eight soldiers and the driver.

Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao had condemned the attack strongly and assured that the sacrifices of the fallen security personnel would not go unaccounted for. “Whenever big operations are carried out against Naxalites, they do such cowardly acts… Chhattisgarh government will further intensify the steps it is taking against Naxalism. The government is not going to be afraid or bow down, strict action will continue against them,” said Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh.

Background on Recent Anti-Naxal Operations

Five Naxalites were killed in a shootout with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Saturday. The incident occurred in the South Abujhmaad forests near the Narayanpur-Dantewada border during an anti-Naxalite operation. Four bodies of Naxalites were reportedly found initially and another later. Dantewada DRG Head Constable Sannu Karam lost his life during the operation as well.

In an earlier incident on Friday, three Naxalites were gunned down in an encounter at Kandeshar village, Gariaband district. The weapons were also seized from the site of the encounter. The operations had been carried out by STF and DRG teams of different districts in Chhattisgarh: Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur, and Kondagaon.

Maharashtra: Two Soldiers Injured In IED Attack By Naxalites

Two soldiers from the C60 unit sustained minor injuries in an IED attack by Naxalites near Dodhraj Bhamragad Bridge on Saturday, according to Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal.

The incident occurred during road search operations conducted by the C60 troops.

Additional search operations in the vicinity are currently ongoing.

Chhattisgarh Encounter Claims Eight Naxals And One Jawan In Abujhmad

In an intense encounter between Naxalites and security forces in the forests of Abujhmad, Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, has resulted in the deaths of at least eight Naxalites. The encounter, spanning two days, also saw three security personnel injured, with one brave jawan losing his life. The injured have been airlifted to Raipur for treatment and are reported to be out of danger.

IG Bastar P Sundarraj confirmed the recovery of eight Naxalite bodies, including three women, during the operation conducted jointly by the District Reserved Guards, STF, ITBP, and BSF. The encounter, initiated based on intelligence inputs regarding senior Maoist leaders’ presence, unfolded across the forested terrains of Maad region. Weapons seized from the site include INSAS rifles, .303 rifles, BGL launcher and shells, alongside a substantial ammunition cache.

Security forces continue to comb the area as they recover from one of the deadliest encounters in recent months in Chhattisgarh, where approximately 1,200 jawans have been engaged in anti-Maoist operations. Since January, this operation marks a total of 131 Maoists neutralized in the region.

Seven Naxalites Killed in an Encounter in Chattisgarh; Naxalite Casualties Go Up to 112 This Year

Seven Naxalites were killed in an encounter in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Security forces were conducting an anti-Naxal operation. SP Prabhat Kumar confirmed the deaths of seven Naxalites. The operation targeted Maoists from the Indravati Area Committee and Platoon No. 16. Various state police units, including the District Reserve Guard, participated. Seven firearms were recovered from the encounter site.

This incident brings the total Naxalite casualties this year to 112. On May 10, 12 Naxalites were killed in Bijapur district. On April 30, ten Naxalites, including three women, were killed. Earlier on April 16, 29 Naxalites were gunned down. The encounter occurred during a search operation near Pidia village.

Encounter in Bastar: Seven Naxalites Reportedly Killed

More than seven Naxalites were reportedly killed in a intense clash between security forces and Maoists. The dense forests of the volatile Bijapur district, with the firefight still ongoing as of Friday. The encounter ensued when a security team engaged in a search operation encountered the Naxalites near Pidia village in the Gangaloor region earlier that morning.

The casualty count is expected to rise further, possibly reaching double digits. The operation involves a substantial inter-district force of more than a thousand personnel comprising CoBRA, Special Task Force, and District Reserve Guards from Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts. They initiated the operation from various camps and engaged with the Maoists in different parts of the Pidia forests.

While the encounter continues, the exact count of Maoists eliminated will be determined once the converging security teams compile their reports. Officials have confirmed the safety of the jawans, emphasizing their effective engagement in the operation.

This encounter follows previous successful operations where security forces eliminated 29 Naxalites in Kanker district on April 16 and another ten in the Abujhmarh region of Narayanpur district.

Chattisgarh: Security Forces Kill 3 Naxalites in encounter in Bijapur

Chattisgarh: Three Naxalites were killed in an ongoing encounter between the security forces in Bijapur on Saturday.

Telangana’s Greyhounds with the support from Chhattisgarh Police in the Karriguta forests of Pujari Kanker on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh led the anti-Naxal operation.

The bodies of Naxals are discovered alongwith the weapons which included a light machine gun (LMG) and an AK-47 so far.

Previously, a Naxalite was killed in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada on Friday in an encounter between security forces according to a police official.

The encounter happened in an anti-Naxal operation in the forest under Kirandul police station limits when District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were out, the official said.

“The operation was launched on Thursday based on inputs about the presence of Maoists in Purangel, Badepalli, Doditumnar and Gampur areas. After the exchange of fire ended, the body of a male Naxalite and a weapon were recovered from the spot,” officials said.

Earlier on April 3, 13 Naxals were killed in an encounter with the security agencies in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. The fight which started on April 2 was concluded the next day, according to an official release from the security forces.

“Chhattisgarh Police recorded one of its biggest successes in the history of anti-Naxal operations. We can now confirm that in the operation conducted by more than a thousand security forces in the Lendra and Korcholi areas of Gangalur in Bijapur district on the night of April 1 and April 2, 13 Naxals were killed. Their bodies have been recovered. We have also received reports that a large number of Naxals are seriously injured,” Inspector General of Police (IG), Bastar Range, P Sundarraj had said.

According to the police the area where the firefight happened was a safe haven for Naxalites but over the last three months 16 new camps of security forces have been established in the area. The soldiers trailed a tough journey of about 20 kms covering forests and mountains overnight.

Soldiers provided with night vision binoculars and new-age weapons from Mutavendi, Palanar, Gangalur, Basaguda and Cherpal security camps conducted the operation.

CRPF sub-inspector killed, constable hurt in Chhattisgarh encounter with Naxalites

An encounter between security personnel and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday resulted in the death of a sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the injuries of a constable, according to police. According to a police official, the incident happened in the morning while a team from the CRPF’s 165th battalion was conducting an anti-Naxal operation under the jurisdiction of Jagargunda police station.

According to him, the operation started at roughly 7 a.m. from Bedre camp and headed toward Ursangal village. He said that during the operation, there was a gunfight in which constable Ramu was shot and sub-inspector Sudhakar Reddy was killed.

He said that four suspects were apprehended from the scene when the gunfire stopped, and that a combined security team was conducting a search of the vicinity. The official stated that the hurt constable was being taken to a hospital for treatment.

Narayanpur-Orchha Bus Route in Chhattisgarh Disrupted by Naxal Threat

Naxals launched the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week, causing bus services on the Narayanpur-Orchha route to be suspended and injuring two CRPF soldiers in an IED blast.

During the first day of the PLGA week, an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion injured CRPF soldiers in the Barsur police station area, Dantewada Police confirmed. The incident occurred while personnel from the 195th Battalion were attempting to defuse a concealed IED in a Maoist banner near the Saatdhaar bridge on the Barsur Palli route.

Although the injured soldiers are out of danger and currently receiving treatment, bus services on the Narayanpur-Orchha route have been temporarily halted as a preventive measure due to the ongoing PLGA week.

This recent disruption follows an earlier incident on November 27, where suspected Naxals set fire to nearly 14 vehicles and machinery engaged in construction work in Dantewada district. The attack, orchestrated around 1:30 am at Bangali camp under Bhansi police station limits, involved a group of approximately 25–30 individuals, most of whom were disguised as villagers. The swift response from the police helped contain the fire after the assailants fled the scene.

The PLGA week, which runs from December 2 to 8, commemorates the Naxal organization’s founding day and has historically resulted in increased activity and disruptions by the rebel groups, raising security concerns in affected areas.

Encounter Erupts Between Special Task Force and Naxals in Orchha, Chhattisgarh

An encounter between the Special Task Force (STF) personnel and Naxals erupted in the forest area near Orchha police station in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Fortunately, the STF personnel remained unharmed as the Naxals retreated during the encounter. Security forces are currently conducting a search of the area. Officials emphasized that the information circulating on social media about Naxals surrounding polling booths is inaccurate, and voting is proceeding as scheduled.

With voting for the first phase in Chhattisgarh polls underway, the Naxals fired at District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel deployed for an outer cordon around 2 kilometres away from Banda polling station on Tuesday morning, police officials said. “Security forces retaliated and the firing from Naxals’ side stopped after 10 minutes,” the police stated. Meanwhile, all jawans are safe, and voting continues, they added.

In a separate incident earlier on Tuesday, a Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) jawan was injured in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast triggered by Naxals in the Tondamarka area of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. The jawan was deployed for election duty at the time of the explosion.

Chhattisgarh, with its 90-member legislative assembly, is undergoing elections in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for November 17. Of the 20 constituencies currently undergoing polling in the state, 12 are located in the Bastar division, including areas affected by Naxal activity. Voting is taking place in districts like Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Kabeerdham, and Rajnandgaon.

The final step in this electoral process, the counting of votes, is set for December 3, after which the composition of the new legislative assembly will be determined.

Odisha: Three Naxalites killed in encounter with police

Three Naxalites were killed, while another was arrested during an encounter with police personnel in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, the police said on Tuesday.

As per initial reports, a fierce encounter broke out between police personnel and the ultras at the Taperenga-Lubengad forest area under Madanpur-Rampur police limits. According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Kalahandi, Abilash G, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) also sustained injuries in the encounter.

“The DSP has been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Hospital in Bolangir,” SP, Kalahandi said, adding that an AK 47 Rifle also sized from the spot.
