High-Ranking Delhi Govt Official and Wife Charged with Rape of Minor

A high-profile case involving the alleged rape of a minor girl by a former Delhi government official and his wife took a significant step forward on Wednesday. The Tis Hazari court took cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Premoday Khakha, the former Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department, and his wife Seema Rani.

The couple has been in custody since August following their arrest in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of the minor girl. The victim, a friend of Khakha’s daughter, had moved in with the family after losing her father. According to police, Khakha repeatedly raped the minor over several months, resulting in her pregnancy. The victim claims that Khakha’s wife also threatened and coerced her into having an abortion.

The court has scheduled a hearing on December 5 for the scrutiny of documents related to the case. Delhi police are also expected to file a supplementary charge sheet against Khakha’s son and daughter, who have been granted protection from arrest by the Supreme Court.

Mumbai: 10-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped in Nalasopara During Ganesh Utsav

A chilling incident has unfolded in Nalasopara, Palghar district, where a 10-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped while returning home from the Ganesh Utsav celebrations. The two perpetrators have been apprehended by the Achole police.

The minor girl, a resident of Shirdinagar in Nalasopara East, had gone out to witness the arrival of the Ganesh idol in her neighbourhood. On her way back, she was accosted by two unidentified men near her home. They forced her to a secluded spot and subjected her to a horrific sexual assault, leaving her traumatizsed and physically injured.

The girl’s family discovered the horrifying ordeal when they noticed her clothes stained with blood and her distressed state. After questioning her, they learned of the heinous crime and immediately reported the incident to the Achole police station.

Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. Through diligent efforts, they were able to identify and arrest the two suspects.

Minor Girl Gangraped, Five Arrested, Including Bus Drivers and Cashier at Dehradun ISBT

The Uttarakhand Police arrested five individuals on Sunday in connection with the alleged gang rape of a teenage girl on a government bus at the Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Dehradun. Dehradun’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Ajay Singh, stated that two other bus drivers and a cashier employed at the Dehradun ISBT were also taken into custody.

The incident occurred on August 12, but authorities were only notified on Saturday. According to the police, the Dehradun Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was alerted about a teenage girl who was found sitting alone late at night on a bench at the Dehradun ISBT on August 12.

The girl was taken to Bal Niketan, a government-run girls’ home, where she disclosed the alleged rape during a counseling session. Following this, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Patel Nagar police station under Section 70 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, based on a complaint filed by a CWC member. The police then swiftly identified the bus involved by reviewing CCTV footage and arrested the five suspects.

The accused were identified as Dharmendra Kumar (32) and Rajpal (57), both residents of Buggawala in Haridwar, Uttarakhand; Devendra (52), a resident of Bhagwanpur in Haridwar; Rajesh Kumar Sonkar (38), a resident of Dehradun; and Ravi Kumar (34), a resident of Nawabganj in Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh.

Dharmendra Kumar was the bus driver involved in the incident, while Devendra served as the conductor. Ravi Kumar and Rajpal were drivers of other buses, and Sonkar was a cashier at the Uttarakhand Roadways bus stand.

Initially, the girl informed the police that she was an orphan from Punjab, but later, during questioning, she revealed details about her family and disclosed that she was from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. She explained that she had traveled to Delhi before boarding a bus to Dehradun, where the alleged rape occurred.

Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh stated that one of the accused, Devendra, admitted to meeting the girl at the Kashmiri Gate ISBT in Delhi. The girl had asked him for directions to Punjab, and Devendra suggested she take a bus to Dehradun and then transfer to another bus toward Punjab. However, after reaching Dehradun and after all passengers had disembarked, Devendra and the driver, Dharmendra, allegedly raped her. Later, two other drivers, Ravi and Rajpal, who had learned about the incident, also entered the bus and allegedly raped the teenager.

Devendra reportedly informed the cashier, Rajesh Kumar Sonkar, about the incident while depositing money, after which Sonkar also allegedly raped the girl on the bus.

Private School Owner Arrested For Raping Minor Girl In Bhopal: Police

Miniraj Modi, owner of Gyan Ganga International Academy in Misord, Bhopal was arrested two weeks after he was charged with raping an eight-year-old girl at the dormitory campus, the Madhya Pradesh police announced on Tuesday that they had detained the proprietor of a private school in Bhopal, as the rape survivor identified.

Police said they have also detained and suspended an assistant sub-inspector, Prakash Rajput, who allegedly mounted pressure on the minor girl’s mother to withdraw the rape complaint.

Shradha Tiwari, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Bhopal City (Zone 2), stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained Modi on Monday after the young girl recognized him.

According to Tiwari, Modi is being questioned by police while in their custody and will appear in court following a medical examination.

The victim’s mother asserted that the police were attempting to rescue the suspect in the meantime. She said that Rajput placed pressure on her to not file a case despite the police having twice performed her medical test and having recorded her statement before a magistrate.

FIR was registered against Modi on April 30 based on the complaint filed by the girl’s mother.

“My daughter was raped in the last week of April. I came to know on April 29 after she shared her ordeal with me in front of doctors of a government hospital. The doctors also confirmed the rape and injury in the private parts but Rajput came to the hospital and mounted pressure on me for not registering the case”, the woman said.

The police conducted another medical test and a medical board was formed to give their opinion, even as the doctors at the hospital had confirmed the rape, said the mother.

Later, the police also held counselling sessions and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) held the counselling for two days. “My daughter is just eight years old and already traumatised but the whole process that was adopted by police mentally harassed her”, she added.

DCP Tiwari said that things were not clear in the FIR. “In the first medical test, the doctors recommended consulting a gynaecologist…later, a medical board was formed. In between, the CWC was approached for counselling. After the statements were registered before the CWC during counselling, suspects were shown to the girl and she identified the accused”.

Modi said he was innocent and added that a conspiracy was hatched against him.

In the FIR, three people, including the hostel warden, have been booked under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act.

Minor girl raped in MP’s Satna

A minor girl was allegedly raped in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Friday, according to a police official.

The incident occurred in the district’s Maihar town. The minor victim’s condition is stated to be critical, and she has been referred to Rewa.

“We got information on Friday morning that around 12-year-old girl was raped in the district. After preliminary enquiry, the police have arrested two accused in this case.

“The girl is undergoing treatment and she has been referred to Rewa. Strict actions will be taken against the accused. Further investigation is underway,” Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP, Maihar) Lokesh Dawar said.

A man throws acid on a minor girl after getting rejected.

The incident was reported on 20 February in Karnataka’s Ramanagra district, the police said. A criminal threw acid on a minor girl for rejecting his marriage proposal. Officials on Sunday said the girl had recently rejected the man’s marriage proposal. As per the reports, the accused has been identified as Sumanth from kurupete in Kanakapura, who threw acid on a 17-year-old girl for rejecting his marriage proposal. The accused is a mechanic by profession and proposed to the girl for marriage but she rejected him and the girl burns on her face and eyes due to acid, said Superintendent of police (SP). The victim was sent to Ophthalmic Hospital in Bengaluru after receiving an initial treatment at the local hospital.
The case comes under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against the accused, the police added.

Middle-aged man rapes minor girl in Betul

A minor girl was raped by a middle-aged man in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district on Monday. After the incident in the area, a tense situation occurred as angry youths set fire to a four-wheeler vehicle. The police rushed to the spot after getting the information about the incident. “A complaint was registered about a middle-aged man raping a minor girl on Monday evening. Acting on the complaint, an FIR was registered under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and POCSO act. The police team started a search operation to nab the accused,” Betul Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neeraj Soni said. However, further investigation is underway.

13-year-old girl raped, 2 arrested

A 13-year-old girl in the Matunga area of Mumbai has been gang-raped by her classmates. In case two minor boys have been arrested in the matter.

Meanwhile, in this case, two minors have been arrested and sent to the Dongri correctional home (juvenile home). The accused and the victim study in class 8.

Under Section 376 (D) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act, the case has been registered on 30 November.

Moreover, the incident happened when all the other students were busy with some program at a school.

“This incident took place, other children were also present in the school, but all of them were busy in a program, the victim girl was alone in the classroom and taking advantage of it two boys entered the classroom and closed the door and raped her,” Police said.

Police further said, “Following the incident, the victim went home in the evening. However, her health worsened the next day and her family took the girl to the nearest hospital, where the doctor told them that something wrong had happened with the girl, the victim’s mother asked the girl, after which she narrated the incident to her mother.”

However, against the two accused the case was filed by the victim’s mother at Matunga Police Station.

Furthermore, an investigation into the matter is underway.

Police arrests 19-year-old for abducting, raping minor girl in Assam

A 19-year-old man was arrested in the Cachar district of Assam for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl, according to police.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on September 19 and a FIR was filed that day by the juvenile girl’s family.

The person who was arrested lives in the Udharbond region, which is about 15 kilometres from Silchar town.

According to the minor girl’s family, the accused was the driver of the auto-rickshaw that kidnapped her.

He trapped and forcibly kidnapped her. Later, she was threatened and tortured by him, as she explained. He then took her to a forest area and raped her several times,” the family members alleged.

Subrata Sen, a police officer of the Cachar district, claims that a FIR was filed the same day and that the police then started looking for the suspect.

“He was arrested from Udharbond area and we have registered a case against him under section 365, 376 of Indian Penal Code and section 4 of POCSO Act,” Sen said.
