Indians now also have an easier route to the UAE’s highly sought-after Golden Visa without having to invest crores in real estate or business. Indians can now gain permanent residency under the nomination-based model by paying AED 1,00,000 (roughly Rs. 23.30 lakh), a huge change from the previous requirement of a minimum AED 2 million (or rs. 4.66 crore) real estate investment or share in businesses.

This new, cheaper pathway has generated excitement among Indians looking to build a life in the UAE. On Twitter, a user smartly pointed out that an Indian could either buy a high-end car costing Rs. 1 crore in India or spend the same amount to obtain a Golden Visa for Dubai and purchase the same car there.

X user Abhinav Kukreja juxtaposed the cost of owning a Mercedes E-Class in the two nations. In India, the cheapest model begins at Rs. 81.50 lakh (ex-showroom), while on-road prices in Delhi are around Rs. 95 lakh, according to Carwale.

Meanwhile, in Dubai, the identical Mercedes E-Class comes with a price tag of AED 321,900, which is roughly Rs. 75 lakh. Kukreja pointed out that with Rs. 1 crore, one could either drive away in an E-Class here, or alternatively, spend Rs. 23 lakh on a Golden Visa, then buy the same car in Dubai for Rs. 75 lakh essentially getting both the car and residency within the same budget.

Hit and run: Mercedes kills 34-year-old cyclist in Delhi

A 34-year-old cyclist was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday morning when a speeding Mercedes allegedly struck him near Ashram in South Delhi. The driver, identified as Pradeep Gautam, has been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized, police officials said.

The victim, Rajesh, was riding his cycle when the Mercedes hit him from behind, killing him instantly. According to the police, the incident occurred early in the morning, and the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Later in the evening, the driver surrendered at a nearby police station.

Investigations revealed that the car’s owner had given the vehicle to Pradeep Gautam a month ago to facilitate its sale. The police traced the ownership of the vehicle, which led them to identify and apprehend Gautam.

The victim’s body was discovered by the roadside, while his cycle was found approximately 150 meters away, indicating the force of the collision. The deceased’s uncle, Habi Prasad, said Rajesh was on his way to work when the accident occurred.

“The Mercedes driver hit him from behind and dragged him for about 7-8 meters. He died on the spot. The cycle was dragged for at least 100-150 meters,” Prasad said.

The postmortem examination of the deceased is scheduled for Sunday, police officials confirmed. The investigation is ongoing.

In his social media post, Singh questioned the state of Gurgaon’s infrastructure, highlighting the lack of response from local authorities. “I pay my taxes and bills, only to wake up and find my BMW, Mercedes, and i20 stranded and damaged,” Singh lamented on Instagram. He criticized the city’s handling of the situation and noted that despite his efforts to hire a crane, no service was willing to operate in the deep water.

The video, which depicts the waterlogged streets of Gurgaon’s Sector 57, has sparked outrage online. Singh urged his followers to tag local officials to draw attention to the issue. “This isn’t Mumbai or Bangalore; this is Gurgaon, a so-called metro city in India,” he wrote, expressing his dismay.

Mercedes Benz UK unveils its latest CLE Cabriolet Coupé, price starts at $54,500

Mercedes-Benz UK has launched the new CLE Cabriolet which is available to order in the UK. It comes in four variants: AMG Line, AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus and the Premier Edition. All variants come with mild-hybrid technology including four-cylinder, and six-cylinder petrol and four-cylinder diesel engines.

The CLE coupé comes with an electrical multi-layer fabric soft top which can be raised or lowered in just about 20 seconds. It is a traditional four-seater-open vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. It is further enhanced by the AIRSCARF heating system and AIRCAP electric wind deflector system.

The infotainment system is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch driver-oriented central display. Other features include the 18” AMG alloy wheels, thermatic automatic climate control, 64-colour ambient lighting, blind spot assist, traffic sign assist and more in the standard variant.

The Premier Edition models come with 20” AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels. The pricing starts at $54,500.

Verstappen continues dominance with Spanish Grand Prix win

Two-time world champion Max Verstappen started the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position and continued to lead from start to finish. He has extended his lead in the driver standings by 53 points ahead of teammate Sergio Perez (117).

Verstappen was awarded extra points as he set the fastest lap in the final stages. After topping all three practice sessions and qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Verstappen finished the race on Sunday 25 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton. At the same time, Mercedes made a comeback this season with two podiums on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton finished second and his teammate George Russell finished third to bag two podiums in a long time for Mercedes, showing the heavy W14 improvements that the team made at Monaco GP last week.

Mercedes is now the second-fastest team on the track, having pulled ahead of Ferrari and Aston Martin. Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez finished fourth, just ahead of Carlos Sain of Ferrari, who finished fifth.

Red Bull’s lead in the constructor championship grows to 287 after the Spanish GP, with Mercedes moving to the second spot with 152 points.

Formula 1 drivers gear up for Barcelona GP 2023

Formula One drivers are all geared up for the eighth race of the 2023 calendar year as F1 travels to Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix. The event is scheduled for June 4, with practise and qualifying sessions scheduled for June 2 and 3, respectively.

Ahead of the event at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track, here is a look at the driver standings for this season after six races. The seventh race this year at the Emilia Romagna GP was cancelled due to severe flooding in the region. Leading the driver ranking this season is the two-time driver championship winner, Max Verstappen, with 144 points. He has bagged the championship twice, in 2021 and 2022.

Trailing behind the defending champion is his Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez, who, despite a lousy performance at the Monaco GP as he finished 16th, stands in the second position with 105 points. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso is having one of his best seasons so far in Formula 1. With multiple podiums this season, he stands in the third position in the Driver’s Standings 2023 with a total of 93 points. He finished second in the Monaco GP last week.

The seven-time Driver Championship winner, Lewis Hamilton, who has been struggling for podiums with his Mercedes since last year, stands in the fourth position with 69 points. At the same time, his teammate George Russell holds the fifth position with 50 points. The sixth and seventh positions are occupied by both the Ferrari drivers, as Carlos Sainz stands in the sixth position with 48 points and Charles Leclerc stands in the seventh position with 42 points.

Aston Martin’s second driver, Lance Stroll, is falling behind his teammate Alonso in the rankings as he stands in eighth position with 27 points. On the other hand, Alpine Renault’s Esteban Ocon, who finished third in the Monaco GP, stands in ninth position with 21 points. Ocon’s teammate Pierre Gasly is in the tenth spot with 14 points in the 2023 season so far.

Noida labourer sets Mercedes on fire over ‘unpaid dues’

A disturbing event involving a worker setting fire to his owner’s Mercedes after becoming irate over unpaid dues was reported from Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, the car owner didn’t provide him with his entire compensation.

According to reports, the man installed tiles at the owner of the Mercedes-Benz’s house but did not receive his full pay. He allegedly made the decision to exact revenge by setting fire to the man’s expensive car after being hired to lay the tiles. On social media, the incident’s video has become very popular.

According to the article, the incident in question occurred in Sadarpur within the boundaries of Noida’s Sector 39 police station.

The CCTV cameras documented the entire incident. The man rode up on a bike, poured gasoline on the car, and lighted a match, according to the CCTV footage. Later, he left the area. The alleged labourer was reportedly taken into custody by police. Police stated that the case is still under investigation. Ranveer has been recognised as the accused labourer. According to an India TV story, he was detained as a result of the Mercedes owner’s filing a complaint.

Maruti Suzuki’s 1st Electric Car to be launched in 2025

Maruti Suzuki has announced that its first electric vehicle (EV) will be available for purchase sometime in 2025. The model will go into production between 2024 and 2025, and it will be made at the company’s factory in Gujarat. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer intends to increase the size of its manufacturing facilities in the future. It would invest Rs 11,000 crore in the first phase to set up two new manufacturing facilities at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonipat, Haryana. The first unit will be built in 2025, but the second one won’t be ready until 2026.

Details on the company’s first EV have not yet been made public. However, it has been revealed that the first Maruti electric vehicle will cost more than Rs 10 lakh due to the high cost of EV technology and batteries. According to Maruti Suzuki, the new EV has undergone sufficient testing to be able to adapt to Indian weather conditions and market-specific requirements.

Speculations of Suzuki and Toyota’s collaboration to produce a mid-size SUV as the first electric vehicle from Maruti have surfaced. The car might make its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in concept form. The electric vehicle (EV) will be built on Toyota’s substantially localised DNGA modular platform. It might be offered with 48 kWh and 59 kWh battery choices. The latter promises a range of 500 kilometres, compared to the former’s 400 km.
