Pressures from work, family responsibilities, social expectations and constant competition weigh heavily on our minds. While modern technology has made life more convenient, it has also contributed to increased stress and mental health challenges. Among these challenges, depression is one of the most serious and common mental health issues.

What Is Depression?

Depression is not just feeling sad or low temporarily; it is a serious mental illness. It affects a person’s ability to think clearly, feel emotions and function in daily life.

Untreated depression can severely impact social relationships, family life and work.

Signs and Symptoms of Depression

If you notice several of the following symptoms persisting over time, it’s important to seek help:

Persistent sadness, emptiness or anxiety

Sleeping too little or too much

Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed

Feeling lonely, hopeless or helpless

Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

Constant fatigue or lack of energy

Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

Withdrawal from friends and family

Causes of Depression

Depression usually arises due to a combination of factors:

Lifestyle Factors

Irregular or insufficient sleep

Poor diet and lack of physical activity

Use of alcohol, smoking, or other substances

Personal Factors

Family conflicts or broken relationships

Childhood trauma or abuse

Genetic predisposition (family history of depression)

Situational Factors

Loss of a loved one

Serious illness

Financial crisis or unemployment

Natural disasters or accidents

Professional Factors

Work overload or job insecurity

Difficulty balancing personal and professional life

Yoga and Its Role in Combating Depression

Yoga is an ancient holistic system that unites body, mind and soul. The Sanskrit word “Yoga” means “to unite” or “to join.” Yoga includes physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama) and meditation. It helps reduce stress by balancing bodily energy and calming the mind. Scientific research shows yoga lowers stress hormones, strengthens immunity and fosters positivity.

Benefits of Yoga for Mental Health

Reduces stress and increases mental resilience.

Improves decision-making and focus.

Builds self-confidence.

Encourages a positive mindset.

Enhances mindfulness and self-awareness.

Helpful Yoga Postures for Depression

Sukhasana (Easy Pose):
A comfortable seated position that reduces anxiety and promotes inner calm and security.

Balasana (Child’s Pose):
A restful pose mimicking the fetal position, which provides mental relaxation, reduces anxiety and improves sleep.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose):
Strengthens the spine and boosts self-confidence while energizing the body.

Paschimottanasana (Forward Bend):
Releases tension, relaxes the nervous system, steadies the mind and supports emotional stability.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand):
A full-body posture that improves blood circulation and enhances mental clarity and vitality.

Precautions for Yoga Practice

Never force your body into a posture.

Consult a doctor or experienced instructor if you have health issues or injuries.

Start yoga under the guidance of a qualified teacher.

Warm up gently before practice and relax fully at the end (Shavasana).

Stop immediately if you experience sharp pain.

Practice regularly and patiently to gain maximum benefits.

Treating depression effectively requires a combination of medical care, psychotherapy and social support. Combining yoga with modern medical treatments offers a balanced approach to mental wellness.

Yoga, pranayama and meditation are valuable complementary therapies. Even 15-20 minutes of daily yoga can improve mental clarity, emotional balance and confidence. Yoga nurtures self-acceptance, patience and compassion, which aid recovery. However, yoga should complement—not replace—professional medical and psychological care.

Remember: Mental health issues are not a sign of weakness. Seek expert help promptly and include yoga in your lifestyle to live a happier, healthier and stress-free life. If you or someone you know shows symptoms of depression, don’t hesitate to consult a specialist.

</excerpt>

The Origin of Sacred Beads of Rudraksha: As Described in Shrimad Devi Bhagavat Purana

Rudraksha as sacred beads, are believed to carry the divine energy of Lord Shiva. Rudraksha, the name itself tells a tale—“Rudra” means Shiva and “Aksha” means tears.

Story of Origin of Rudraksha as in Purans

According to Shrimad Devi Bhagavat-Puran (Gita Press, Gorakhpur), the powerful demon Tripur defeated all the gods, including Brahma and Vishnu. In distress, the gods prayed to Lord Shiva for help. As Lord Shiva meditated for a thousand divine years, tears fell from his eyes, giving birth to Rudraksha trees. From these trees, 38 types of Rudraksha beads emerged for the welfare of all beings by Shiva’s divine will.

12 varieties of Kapila-colored Rudraksha beads emerged from Lord Shiva’s right eye (the Sun-eye), 16 types of White Rudraksha from His left eye (the Moon-eye) & 10 types of Black Rudraksha from His third eye (the Fire-eye). White Rudraksha is known as Brahmin type; Red one as Kshatriya; Mixed-colored one as Vaishya and Black one as Shudra type.

The face of a Rudraksha is called Brahma and its upper part (the dot) represents Rudra, lower part or tail, represents Vishnu. Rudraksha grants both material benefits (bhoga) and spiritual liberation (moksha).

While stringing mala, the face of one bead should connect with the face of the next and the tail of one bead should link with that of the next. Sumeru bead’s face should be positioned upward, with the Nagapasha placed above it.

A bead that naturally has a hole is considered superior, while one that is drilled to make a hole is of average quality. Rudraksha beads that are uniform, smooth, strong and clearly marked with well-defined lines are considered the best.

Types of Rudraksha

Rudraksha beads are classified based on the number of natural lines or “mukhis” on their surface. Each type of Rudraksha serves a specific purpose and is chosen based on spiritual goals, health needs and/or astrological/ numerological requirements.

</excerpt>

Rudraksha holds immense cultural and spiritual significance in various spiritual traditions. Rudraksha, the name itself tells a tale—“Rudra” means Shiva and “Aksha” means tears. According to Vedic scriptures, Rudraksha beads were formed from the divine tears of Lord Shiva, shed during deep meditation or compassion for humanity.

Revered as sacred beads, they are believed to carry the divine energy of Lord Shiva. Across different cultures, Rudraksha is cherished for its power to balance energy, ward off negativity and promote harmony, purity, protection and spiritual growth. Our Vedic scriptures Shiv Puran, Devi Bhagavat Puran and Padma Puran, among others, highlight its sacredness and spiritual power and emphasize its ability to protect the wearer, enhance spiritual growth and balance energies. Rudraksha is also a symbol of devotion, a means to attain higher consciousness, to invoke Shiva’s blessings, promote inner peace and a remedy for physical and mental well-being.

Types of Rudraksha

Rudraksha beads are classified based on the number of natural lines or “mukhis,” on their surface. These lines determine the type of bead and its unique spiritual and energetic properties. The mukhis range from 1 Mukhi to 21 Mukhi, with each type believed to have distinct benefits and astrological/ numerological significance. Each type of Rudraksha serves a specific purpose and is chosen based on spiritual goals, health needs and/or astrological/ numerological requirements.

Connection with Numbers and Planets

</excerpt>

In today’s fast-paced world, a word has crept into everyone’s daily life. STRESS, the unwelcome companion. We rush from one task to another, barely pausing to breathe.

From demanding jobs to hectic schedules, we are constantly bombarded with stress triggers leading to various health problems including anxiety, depression and heart disease. The Japanese tea ceremony Chado, also known as chanoyu, offers just a simple way to find peace in this chaos. Buddhist monks brought tea to Japan from China around 9th century. Over time, it became more than just a drink. It became a spiritual & meditative practice. The ceremony reflects the philosophy of Zen, which means meditation or deep focus. Zen teaches mindfulness and simplicity.

Chado is a sacred meditative ritual about finding balance, calm and harmony and an art form. It’s not just about drinking tea but about pausing, appreciating the moment and finding stillness within. Each step is a meditation, inviting you to let go of worries and connect with the present.

Chado involves a series of precise movements and gestures, performed with grace and intention in a specific way. The tea ceremony is a slow, deliberate process. Each step of the tea ceremony is designed to slow down the mind and bring focus to the present moment. It’s about the entire experience: the atmosphere, the aroma, the taste and the company. The act of preparing and drinking tea becomes a form of meditation, allowing you to connect with yourself and your surroundings.

A tea ceremony begins with silence. Guests focus on each step & every element—the sound of water boiling, the placement of tea utensils, the gentle clinking of the teacups, the arrangement of the flowers, the feel of the tea bowl and the aroma of the tea. This mindfulness slows you down, calms your mind & brings you into the present moment.

At the heart of the tea ceremony is the tea master or Chajin, a skilled practitioner who prepares the tea with great care and attention to detail. He is not just preparing tea; but creating a serene atmosphere of peace and harmony where guests can connect with themselves and others.

The tea-room or chashitsu, is simple, uncluttered, a minimalist space with muted colors and natural materials, designed to evoke a sense of tranquility.

The tea itself, often a powdered green tea called matcha, is a powerful tool for relaxation. When consumed mindfully, matcha can help to reduce stress, promote relaxation without drowsiness, improve focus and enhance mood.

The guests or Chakyaku are invited to appreciate the beauty, the taste, the aroma, the warmth of the cup, simplicity of the tea ceremony and the surroundings. As they sip tea, they’re encouraged to focus on the present moment, to connect with inner selves and appreciate the moment’s beauty.

The Japanese tea ceremony is more than just a cultural tradition; it’s a reminder that we don’t need to rush or multitask. We can slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. By slowing down, paying attention to the present moment, engaging in a mindful ritual, we can find solace and peace in our busy lives.

The Japanese tea ritual teaches us to slow down. In India, a cup of tea is often associated with relaxation and comfort. It’s a social ritual, a moment of connection. While the Indian tea culture may differ from the Japanese tea ceremony, they share a common thread: the power of tea to soothe the soul. It reminds us that peace is found in simple acts.

We don’t need a special tea-room or special tools to experience this ritual. Even making a cup of tea at home can become a mindful practice. Start by choosing a quiet spot in your home. Prepare a cup of green tea slowly and mindfully. Take a deep breath, notice the sound of water boiling and feel the warmth of the cup in your hands. Focus on each step and each sip. Let these small details ground you in the moment.

So, the next time you feel overwhelmed by stress, consider taking a moment to slow down and appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Perhaps a cup of tea, prepared with mindfulness and intention, can be your path to inner peace. Try it and you’ll see how something so simple can bring harmony to your busy life.

</excerpt>

In today’s fast-paced world, where stress, anxiety, and mental health issues are becoming increasingly common, meditation has emerged as one of the most effective ways to cope with these challenges. Meditation is not just a practice; it is a powerful tool for achieving a balanced life, promoting physical health, and enhancing mental well-being. This article explores the significance of meditation, its benefits, and how it can be integrated into daily life to lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is an ancient practice that involves focusing the mind, often through controlled breathing, mindfulness, or visualizations, to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. It is a technique that has been practiced for thousands of years, originating in ancient cultures such as India, China, and Egypt. Meditation is a tool for personal transformation and self-awareness, which helps individuals attain a sense of peace, balance, and inner strength.

The practice of meditation can vary significantly depending on the tradition, but the essence remains the same – to quiet the mind and connect with one’s inner self. Whether through mindfulness, mantra repetition, or visualization, meditation creates an environment where the individual can focus their energy on the present moment, letting go of distractions and anxieties.

The Benefits of Meditation
The benefits of meditation are vast and wide-ranging, affecting the body, mind, and spirit. Some of the key benefits include:

1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

One of the most well-known benefits of meditation is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. Meditation encourages relaxation by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which counters the body’s stress response. By focusing on the breath or a calming visualization, the mind is able to detach from external stressors, creating a sense of calm and tranquility. Regular meditation can help individuals better manage the pressures of daily life, leading to a more relaxed and peaceful existence.

2. Improves Mental Clarity and Focus

Meditation enhances concentration and mental clarity. By training the mind to focus on a single object, thought, or sensation, meditation increases one’s ability to focus in everyday life. This heightened focus helps improve memory, decision-making, and cognitive abilities. Many people who practice meditation report that they feel more mentally clear and able to tackle tasks with greater efficiency and creativity.

3. Enhances Emotional Health

Meditation has been shown to have a profound impact on emotional health. Regular practice helps individuals develop a greater sense of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and empathy. By observing their thoughts and emotions without judgment, individuals can cultivate a more positive outlook on life. Meditation helps individuals develop emotional resilience, making it easier to cope with difficult emotions such as sadness, anger, or fear.

4. Promotes Physical Health

Meditation also has numerous physical health benefits. It can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improve sleep quality. Studies have shown that people who meditate regularly tend to have a lower heart rate and better cardiovascular health. Meditation also boosts the immune system, making the body more resistant to illness. Additionally, it helps regulate the body’s stress hormones, such as cortisol, which can otherwise have negative effects on the body when they remain elevated for prolonged periods.

5. Increases Self-Awareness

Meditation encourages individuals to look inward and develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts, behaviors, and patterns. This increased self-awareness is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-improvement. By becoming more aware of their mental and emotional states, individuals can better manage their reactions, make conscious choices, and lead more intentional lives.

6. Promotes Better Sleep

Meditation has been found to improve sleep quality and help individuals fall asleep more easily. The relaxation that meditation induces helps calm the mind and prepares the body for rest. For those who struggle with insomnia or other sleep-related issues, meditation can be a natural, effective remedy. It promotes deep, restorative sleep, ensuring that the body and mind get the rest they need to function at their best.

Meditation and Its Role in the Modern World

In the modern world, where people are often caught up in the rush of daily life, meditation serves as a sanctuary. With constant distractions from technology, work, and personal responsibilities, the need for mindfulness and mental clarity has never been greater. Meditation provides a way for individuals to disconnect from the noise of the world and reconnect with their inner selves.

The practice of meditation has gained significant popularity in recent years, with many individuals turning to it as a way to improve their overall quality of life. It is no longer confined to spiritual or religious practices but has been embraced as a secular practice for well-being. Meditation is now commonly integrated into therapy sessions, fitness routines, and corporate wellness programs. This shift in perception has made meditation more accessible and acceptable to people from all walks of life.

Meditation and International Awareness

In an effort to raise global awareness about the importance of meditation and its benefits, the United Nations has declared December 21st as International Meditation Day. This day serves as a reminder to individuals worldwide to take a moment for self-reflection, mindfulness, and inner peace. The initiative aims to spread the message of mental well-being and highlight the role of meditation in promoting global peace and harmony.

International Meditation Day encourages people to recognize the importance of mental health in addition to physical health. In a world where mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress are on the rise, meditation provides an accessible and effective solution for individuals to manage their well-being. The growing recognition of meditation’s positive impact on mental health is a step toward creating a more compassionate, balanced, and peaceful world.

How to Begin Your Meditation Practice

Starting a meditation practice is simple and requires only a few basic steps. Here’s a guide to help you begin:
Find a Quiet Space: Choose a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. It could be a corner of your room, a park, or any space that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Sit Comfortably: You don’t need to sit in any particular posture, but it’s important to sit comfortably. You can sit cross-legged on the floor, on a cushion, or in a chair with your feet flat on the ground.

Focus on Your Breath: Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a moment, and then exhale slowly. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring your attention back to your breath.
Use a Mantra or Visualization: Some people find it helpful to repeat a mantra or visualize a peaceful scene. This can help deepen the meditation experience and maintain focus.

Start with Short Sessions: Begin with short sessions, around 5 to 10 minutes, and gradually increase the time as you become more comfortable with the practice.

Be Consistent: Consistency is key to experiencing the benefits of meditation. Try to meditate daily, even if it’s just for a few minutes, to build the habit and see long-term benefits.

Conclusion

Meditation is not just a practice; it is a way of life that promotes holistic well-being. By incorporating meditation into daily life, individuals can experience profound benefits, including reduced stress, enhanced mental clarity, emotional stability, and improved physical health. As the world becomes increasingly aware of the importance of mental health, meditation stands out as a timeless and invaluable tool for fostering peace, both within ourselves and in the world at large.

International Meditation Day is a reminder of the power of meditation to transform lives and promote global wellness. Whether you are new to meditation or have been practicing for years, it is never too late to start your journey toward a healthier, more peaceful life. Take a moment each day to practice mindfulness, and you will find that the benefits extend far beyond the meditation session itself, enriching every aspect of your life.

</excerpt>

Addiction has become a public health crisis today, affecting millions of lives worldwide. Synthetic opioids like illicit fentanyl have worsened the concern, leading to devastating consequences. According to a WHO report, 80% of drug-related deaths in 2019 were linked to opioids, with 25% attributed to overdoses. While traditional treatment methods play a critical role, the complexity of addiction calls for innovative approaches that go beyond conventional therapies. As part of native medicine, yoga-based meditative interventions have always existed as powerful tools to combat this battle. Leveraging the traditional Indian Knowledge Systems and the brilliance of modern science, they offer a holistic approach to healing, addressing the root causes of addiction and paving the way for lasting recovery.
MBRT, a combination of meditation, breathwork and yogic practices – based on the principles of evidence-based Yoga of Immortals (YOI) modalities – offers an integrative approach to preventing and managing addiction. This technique has shown clinical efficacy in enhancing lifestyle and improving quality of life. By merging ancient meditative and healing traditions with contemporary medical knowledge, MBRT addresses the root causes of addiction, including mental, psychosocial, and spiritual imbalances.
Emerging research reveals that mindfulness meditation enhances connectivity and activity in the regions of the brain associated with emotion regulation. By promoting emotion regulation and enhancing brain activity related to self-control, meditation helps in preventing and treating addictions such as tobacco, alcohol, cocaine, and even behavioural disorders like obesity, gambling, and excessive internet use. MBRT encourages individuals to focus on the present moment, interrupting the thought processes associated with substance-seeking behaviours. By doing so repeatedly, it provides innovative coping strategies for stress and helps individuals develop healthier habits.
The physiological benefits
Regular yoga-based practices also have profound physiological benefits that support recovery. It can reduce stress hormones like cortisol, improve cardiovascular health, and enhance immune function. These effects restore the mind-body connection, promoting a sense of vitality and well-being that serves as a powerful antidote to addiction.
Yogic practices are increasingly incorporated into substance abuse treatment programmes for children and adults. They help prevent relapse, reduce withdrawal symptoms, and manage drug cravings. By equipping individuals with tools to cope with potential triggers and daily stressors, MBRT supports sustained recovery. Programmes like YOI are at the forefront of this movement, integrating meditation and yogic practices to support wellness and resilience. YOI provides a structured path to mental and physical healing, and many participants have reported improved self-control and reduced cravings.
By adopting meditative modalities, individuals can cultivate inner strength and resilience essential for combating addiction. However, they must be done under the guidance of an experienced Guru or meditation expert. Overall, these practices lay the foundation for a healthier lifestyle, leading to health, happiness, and fulfilment through a profound sense of well-being.

</excerpt>

Ancient symbols carry wisdom and offer ideas about healing and spiritual growth. The Antahkarana is one such powerful symbol. The Antahkarana word originates from Sanskrit, where “Antar” means “within” or “interior,” and “Karana” means “cause” or “sense organ.” It translates as “the inner cause” or “internal organ.”

The Antahkarana does not require any special attunement or belong to a specific Reiki system but still is widely used by Reiki healers all over the world. It is considered a powerful and effective healing tool when combined with Reiki. Reiki healers believe that Antahkarana symbol works directly with the aura, heals emotional pain and enhance the flow of life force energy (Chi).

This simple, ancient & sacred symbol is widely used in Reiki healing practices to

balance chakras & energy

clear negative energy

prevent energy blockages

cleanse crystals

remove negative energy from objects (including electronic devices)

enable the grounding of the body

connect the body to divine consciousness & strengthen the connection.

One can use the Antahkarana symbol in personal and everyday life as it is very simple to use. Just take out the printouts and use as needed. The symbol cannot cause harm as it works directly through the higher self.

Let’s look at how this sacred symbol enhances healing and how we can use its key benefits in our daily life:

One of its key benefits is the purification of spaces, objects and even food or water. Simply place Antahkarana in a room to create a healthier environment.

Placing it under bed or mattress can improve sleep.

Can be placed directly on the chakras for chakra balancing.

Place it near electronic devices to reduce the radiation effect.

Some people carry it in their wallets for its protective & healing effects.

Using Male & Female symbols together on a room’s wall will neutralize the negative energy.

Placing any object between 2 Antahkarana symbols will clear all negativities. So, it is effective in cleansing the crystals or any other objects.

Using as coaster, will purify and charge the food & water.

Place it on your workstation to keep off negativity at your workplace.

The symbols are especially helpful in fighting illness as it amplifies Reiki energy, making healing sessions more powerful and efficient.

Reiki healers recommend placing it in Reiki boxes or using it as a base for crystal grids to improve the effectiveness of healing sessions. Also, meditating with the symbol may bring inner clarity and strengthen one’s connection to the spiritual realm. Many Reiki healers incorporate it into their healing routines for deep healing, protection and energy balance.

Reiki Practitioners follow four primary versions of the Antahkarana symbol, each with unique energy properties:

The Male symbol offers direct and intense energy, suitable for fast healing.

The Female symbol provides gentler, nurturing energy, ideal for subtle & relaxed healing processes.

The Cosmic Cross version opens the heart chakra, allowing positive energy to flow and fostering love.

The Squares version helps energy to move freely by removing negativity, blockages and stagnant energy. Users are encouraged to ground themselves with the Male version after working with the square symbol.

Overall, the Antahkarana symbol is considered a part of spiritual anatomy, forming a bridge between the physical body and the higher self. It has its own consciousness and works directly with aura and chakras causing deep healing.

Whether you’re an experienced healer or just starting with energy work, learning about the Antahkarana can boost your journey to good health.

</excerpt>

In such a tense world, letting teens know of natural disasters or even global crises becomes an issue as they would pay attention to their surroundings so much more than they did when they were younger. However, teenagers are essentially programmed to receive complex emotions. They must communicate the facts they learn about the significant events in their lives with extreme delicacy. That is, the information must be provided in an understandable manner and should not be scary.

In 2020, as the world faced the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, teens witnessed unprecedented upheaval. Families lost loved ones, schools shut down, and the future seemed more uncertain than ever. Many parents found themselves struggling to explain the enormity of the crisis without causing panic. These are the very situations where mindfulness and relaxation can be particularly helpful, as they offer the means to foster insight without becoming overly fearful.

Teenagers are at that strange stage of development wherein they are slowly moving away from parental care to independent behavior but are emotionally fragile. At this stage of development, the parts of the brain help change very rapidly that supposedly control emotions and decision-making. Therefore, when tragedy strikes or they come across such news, fear, confusion, or powerlessness dawns on them. Meaningful conversation of such subjects will help them build up resistance while reducing the distress that is associated.

Understanding Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment without judgment. It involves being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without getting caught up in them.

Reduce stress and anxiety: Being mindful can help teenagers alleviate feelings of overwhelm and worry. by focusing on the present moment.

Improves emotional regulation: Mindfulness can help teens identify and manage their emotions more effectively.

Enhance self-awareness: By paying attention to their thoughts and feelings, teens can gain a better understanding of themselves.

Non-Reactivity: Mindfulness takes an observing mindset instead of reacting. If the youths were to write down their thoughts and emotions without acting on them momentarily in that very moment, they would digest bitter information and not become overwhelmed by it.

Relaxation Techniques for Teens

The following are some relaxation techniques that can be put in the teens’ day-to-day activities.

Deep Breathing: Taking deep breaths through the nose can also help to relax the mind and body.

Progressive muscle relaxation: it involves tensing and relaxing different body parts in a systematic manner. It helps reduce physical tension, therefore helping one to relax.

Visualization: Visualization is creating mental images of peaceful or calming scenes. This might be helpful as a means of distraction from negative thoughts and feelings.

Yoga and meditation: These practices have the potential to reduce stress and foster mindfulness.

How to Communicate?

Be open and honest but take into consideration their maturity level. Do not sugarcoat the event.

Validate their feelings: Be honest with them and let them know that it’s okay to feel sad, angry, or scared.

Invitation to Question: Of course, you are not able to answer all the questions from teens. But open up the discussion channels such that they feel free to ask anything and share whatever they do not know.

Perspective: Comfort them by putting things in perspective. Talk to them about the steps being taken in terms of safety and how communities and administrations work to not let such incidents happen in the future.

Support them: Offer your teen an opportunity to talk through their thoughts and feelings and connect with them. Be empathetic and try to understand them.

Maintain a positive light: Focus on the resilience of people and communities in the face of adversity.

By incorporating mindfulness and relaxation techniques into their lives, teens can develop healthy coping mechanisms and build resilience. Remember, it’s essential to provide a safe and supportive environment for them to process their emotions and heal from traumatic experiences.

Once the photo shoot ends, they will come back.”

Prime Minister Modi is currently in Kanniyakumari, engaged in meditation at the Dhyan Mandapam, the site where Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision about ‘Bharat Mata.’ His meditation is expected to conclude today.

Yadav also made a political appeal, urging people to vote against those undermining constitutional principles, reservations, and democracy. He said, “I will tell people to step out of their homes, and those who want to abolish the constitution, reservations, and democracy, those whose actions have increased unemployment, inflation, and poverty, I appeal to my people to vote against them.”

Expressing confidence in Bihar’s electoral prospects, Yadav said, “We have said it before that Bihar will deliver a surprising result, and we will surpass 300 seats.” He also announced his upcoming trip to Delhi for a pre-scheduled meeting at 3 p.m. today.

Under the INDIA alliance agreement in Bihar, the RJD is contesting 26 seats, Congress nine, and the Left parties five out of the state’s 40 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Meanwhile, voting is taking place in the last 57 parliamentary constituencies across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The seventh phase concludes the world’s largest polling marathon, which began on the 19th of last month, covering six phases and 486 Lok Sabha seats.

This visit marks the culmination of his election campaign for the Lok Sabha election. Scheduled from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1, PM Modi will engage in a meditation session lasting approximately 45 hours at the Dhyan Mandapam, where Swami Vivekananda meditated 131 years ago.

Upon his arrival, PM Modi proceeded directly to the Bhagavathi Amman temple to offer prayers. Draped in a dhoti and a white shawl, he performed circumambulations around the sanctum sanctorum and received special blessings from the priests. Aarti was conducted, and PM Modi received temple prasad, including a shawl and a framed photograph of the deity.

PM Modi’s spiritual retreat follows a tradition of undertaking such journeys at the conclusion of election campaigns. Previously, in 2019, he visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he visited Shivaji’s Pratapgarh.

Whether practising alone, in a group, or as part of mindfulness-based therapy, it trains your attention, helping you to be more present, find peace, and savour positive emotions.

The Benefits of Meditation

Meditation and mindfulness are closely linked and often used interchangeably, though their meanings are subtly different. Meditation is a tool to live mindfully—becoming more present, paying closer attention, being less judgmental, and boosting compassion.

Mindfulness-based interventions, generally rooted in meditation practices from the Buddhist tradition, have been adapted into contemporary, psychologically oriented programs. Meditation connects the mind and body, bringing mental and physical peace. It typically requires more of a pause than mindfulness and demands concentration, not just attention.

Some forms of meditation focus on sensations like breathing, sounds, visual images, or mantras. Others emphasize mindfulness, nonjudgmental attention, or awareness of the present moment. Meditation can be a pathway to calmness and a means to connect with how the body and mind feel.

Scientific Insights

Research into meditation, often as part of mindfulness-based interventions, has shown positive psychological and physiological effects. These benefits are found in various groups, from trauma survivors to school children to therapy seekers.

Meditation positively impacts physical health and mental wellness, including cognitive functioning and emotional control. Studies have shown reductions in anxiety, depression, stress levels, and job burnout. Psychological benefits include heightened empathy, improved interoceptive awareness, better psychological well-being, increased self-directedness, improved cooperativeness, and more self-transcendence.

Benefits for the Brain

Meditation offers physical changes to the brain and improved cognitive functioning. Benefits include slowing brain aging, improving attention, increasing innovation, and better problem-solving. These changes are especially significant for mental health conditions following trauma.

Other Physical Benefits

Research has shown that meditation and mindfulness practices offer numerous physical benefits. These include strengthened immune function, reduced stress, improved sleep, fewer panic attacks, increased work satisfaction, reduction in chronic pain, lowered hypertension, and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.

Research Studies

Meditation has garnered much attention from researchers for its potential to help various groups. For students, meditation can enhance well-being and academic potential. Studies have shown that meditation improves knowledge retention and cognitive skills like attention and information processing, along with interpersonal benefits such as empathy and compassion.

Conclusion

</excerpt>

As exam season approaches, the pressure to perform well can lead to increased levels of stress and anxiety among students. By incorporating simple meditation methods into your daily routine, you can harness the power of mindfulness to overcome exam stress and perform at your best. Here are some easy meditation techniques to help you find peace amidst the chaos of exams.

Mindful Breathing: Mindful breathing is a fundamental meditation technique that can be practiced anywhere, anytime, and requires no special equipment. To practice mindful breathing, find a quiet and comfortable place to sit or lie down. Close your eyes and focus your attention on your breath as it enters and leaves your body. Notice the sensation of the air passing through your nostrils, the rise and fall of your chest or abdomen, and the rhythm of your breath. Whenever your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to your breath. Mindful breathing helps anchor your awareness in the present moment, calming the mind and reducing stress.

Body Scan Meditation: Body scan meditation involves systematically scanning through different parts of your body, paying attention to any sensations or tensions you may be experiencing. Find a comfortable position and close your eyes. Starting from your toes, gradually move your attention up through your body, noticing any areas of tension, discomfort, or relaxation. As you become aware of tension, consciously release it and allow that part of your body to relax. Body scan meditation promotes relaxation, reduces physical tension, and increases body awareness, helping to alleviate exam-related stress and anxiety.

Guided Visualization: Guided visualization is a powerful meditation technique that involves mentally picturing a peaceful scene or scenario to evoke feelings of relaxation and calm. Find a quiet and comfortable space to sit or lie down. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a serene and tranquil environment, such as a peaceful beach, lush forest, or tranquil garden. Visualize the sights, sounds, and sensations of this peaceful place, allowing yourself to immerse fully in the experience. Guided visualization can help distract your mind from exam-related worries and transport you to a place of inner peace and tranquility.

Mantra Meditation: Mantra meditation involves repeating a word, phrase, or sound (mantra) silently or aloud to focus the mind and induce a state of relaxation and concentration. Choose a simple and meaningful mantra that resonates with you, such as “peace,” “calm,” or “I am capable.” Find a quiet and comfortable space to sit or lie down. Close your eyes and begin repeating your chosen mantra in your mind or softly aloud. Allow the mantra to become a point of focus, gently guiding your attention away from distracting thoughts and towards a state of inner peace and stillness.

Mindful Walking: Mindful walking is a meditation practice that involves bringing awareness to each step you take, focusing on the sensations of movement and the environment around you. Find a quiet and safe place to walk, such as a park or garden. Begin walking slowly and deliberately, paying attention to the sensation of your feet touching the ground, the movement of your legs, and the rhythm of your breath. Notice the sights, sounds, and smells around you without judgment or attachment. Mindful walking can help ground you in the present moment, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity and focus.

We all know how it feels — one minute life is cruising along, and the next minute you’re slammed with a million things to do. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed out in these moments, but there are a few things you can do to make the stress a bit more manageable.

MAKE A LIST

One of the best ways to manage stress is to make a list of all the things you need to do. This will help you see everything that needs to be done, and it will also help you feel organised and in control.

TAKE BREAKS

It’s important to take breaks when you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed. When you take a break, you can relax and recharge, which will help you be more productive when you get back to work.

DELEGATE

If you have a lot of things to do, it’s important to delegate tasks to other people. This will help lighten your load, and it will also help you get things done more quickly.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH

When you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed, taking a deep breath can help calm you down. Just a few seconds of deep breathing can help clear your mind and make you feel more relaxed.

TALK TO SOMEONE

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed, it can be helpful to talk to someone about it. Talking to someone can help you get things off your chest, and it can also help you find a solution to the problem.

Coping with stress Here are five healthy ways to cope with stress:

EXERCISE

Exercise is a great way to relieve stress. It releases endorphins, which have mood-boosting effects, and it also helps to clear your mind. Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy, such as running, swimming, or biking, and make it a regular part of your routine.

MEDITATION

Meditation is a great way to calm the mind and focus on the present moment. It can be done anywhere, and it only takes a few minutes each day. Find a comfortable place to sit or recline, and focus on your breath.

YOGA

Yoga is a form of exercise that combines stretching and meditation. It can help to improve flexibility, strength, and concentration, and it is also a great way to relieve stress. There are many different types of yoga, so find one that suits you.

AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote relaxation and well-being. When used correctly, aromatherapy can be an effective way to reduce stress. Choose a few essential oils that you enjoy, and add them to a diffuser or bathtub.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Getting enough sleep is essential for good health, and it is also a great way to combat stress. When we are tired, our minds and bodies are less able to cope with stress. Make sure you are getting enough quality sleep each night by sticking to a regular sleep schedule.
