“Daughter, what you did was not right… And the lawyer who sacrifices an entire family for some money – doesn’t he have daughters too? One whole family has been destroyed, and now there’s nothing left in society,” According to the report, the note written by him.

While challenging the legal process, the man queried whether a marriage under Arya Samaj is not legal. Then, how come the court allowed the girl to accompany her boyfriend?

</excerpt>

One pilot, a 28-year-old Air India Express pilot who is newly married, died of a cardiac arrest.

“We deeply regret the loss of a valued colleague due to a medical condition. Our thoughts are with the family during this time of profound grief. We are extending all possible assistance to them as we all cope with this tremendous loss,” an Air India Express spokesperson said.

“We request all concerned to respect privacy at this time and avoid unnecessary speculation while we commit to assisting the relevant authorities in due process,” the spokesperson added.

DGCA’s Roadmap: Increased Rest Periods for Pilots

Last month in February, DGCA had advocated a phased road map. This road map focused on phasing in stricter conditions on when and how long flight pilots can be allowed to operate to reduce pilot fatigue among the air crew in a submission before Delhi high court.

The roadmap suggested doubling pilots’ weekly rest from 36 to 48 hours from July 1, 2025, and gradually introducing decreased night flying from November 1, 2025.

Delhi High Court Directs DGCA to Stick to Schedule

The Delhi high court on February 24 instructed the DGCA to adhere strictly to its schedule in bringing the updated norms on pilot duty and rest periods in phases from July 1.

Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju was apprised by the counsel for the DGCA that they had submitted an affidavit that of the 22 amended clauses of the civil aviation requirement (CAR), 15 would be implemented from July 1, 2025 and the rest would implement by November 1.

Pilots’ Associations Emphasize Timeline Compliance

The petitioner pilots associations’ counsel requested the court to issue orders that the timelines laid out in the affidavit by the respondents must be strictly followed.

This, the DGCA’s counsel added, “We have already submitted the affidavit and we are bound by the affidavit. The court may decide to dispose of the writ petitions as nothing remains in the pleas now.”

The Surprising Link Between Marriage and Weight Gain

<excerpt>A study reveals that married men are 3.2 times more likely to be obese than single men, with a 62% higher risk of being overweight. Lifestyle changes and social habits play a key role.
</excerpt>

Marriage is often associated with happiness, companionship, and stability, but can it also lead to weight gain? A recent study by researchers at the National Institute of Cardiology in Poland’s Warsaw suggests that married men are at a significantly higher risk of becoming overweight or obese compared to their unmarried counterparts. According to the findings, marriage increases the likelihood of men being overweight by 62%, while for women, the risk is 39%.

The study, which examined data from 2,405 individuals as part of the Multi-centre National Population Health Examination Survey, found that weight gain was influenced by age, lifestyle habits, and marital status. While marriage seemed to drastically increase the risk of obesity for men, women were not as significantly affected. These findings are crucial in understanding the growing obesity epidemic worldwide and shed light on the various factors that contribute to weight gain in married individuals.

Marriage and Weight Gain: What the Study Reveals

The study, led by Dr. Alicja Cicha-Mikolajczyk, found that marital status played a significant role in determining body weight. Among the individuals studied, 35.3% had a normal weight, 38.3% were overweight, and 26.4% were classified as obese. The analysis showed that married men were 3.2 times more likely to be obese than single men, whereas married women did not exhibit the same level of increased risk.

The researchers attributed this disparity to various social and behavioral factors, including changes in eating habits, reduced physical activity, and psychological influences. The study is set to be presented at the European Congress on Obesity in Malaga, Spain, where experts will discuss the growing global obesity crisis and the impact of lifestyle factors on health.

Why Do Married Men Gain More Weight?

Several theories explain why married men are more prone to weight gain compared to their unmarried counterparts:

1. Increased Food Intake and Portion Sizes

One of the most commonly cited reasons for weight gain after marriage is a change in eating habits. Married men often consume larger portion sizes and eat more frequently at home. Studies suggest that eating home-cooked meals can be healthier than eating out, but when portion control is ignored, excessive calorie intake can lead to weight gain.

Additionally, women, especially in traditional households, may prepare high-calorie meals rich in carbohydrates and fats, which can contribute to gradual weight gain.

2. Social Eating and Dining Out

Marriage often leads to an increase in social gatherings, family dinners, and celebrations, where food plays a central role. Frequent dining out at restaurants or ordering takeaway meals can lead to excess calorie consumption, making it harder to maintain a healthy weight.

3. Reduced Physical Activity

Before marriage, many men engage in regular physical activity, whether it’s working out at the gym, playing sports, or simply maintaining an active lifestyle. However, after marriage, priorities shift towards work, family responsibilities, and social commitments, leaving less time for exercise.

Many married men also engage in sedentary behaviors, such as watching TV, spending long hours at work, or engaging in less physically demanding activities compared to their single days.

4. Psychological Factors and Comfort Eating

The transition from singlehood to married life can bring about psychological changes that influence eating behaviors. Some men may experience stress, work pressure, or even relationship challenges, leading to comfort eating or unhealthy dietary habits. On the other hand, the security and stability of marriage might also lead to a relaxed approach toward maintaining body weight, as men no longer feel the need to impress a partner.

5. Hormonal Changes and Aging

Aging naturally slows metabolism, making it easier to gain weight. For married men, this biological change is often compounded by lifestyle factors, including reduced exercise and increased calorie intake. Additionally, hormonal changes related to stress and altered sleep patterns can contribute to weight gain.

Why Are Women Less Affected by Marriage-Related Obesity?

Interestingly, the study found that while marriage increased the risk of weight gain in women by 39%, it did not have the same drastic impact as it did on men. Experts suggest several reasons for this:

Societal Pressure to Maintain Appearance: Women are often more conscious of their weight due to societal expectations and beauty standards, which may encourage them to be mindful of their diet and exercise habits.

Involvement in Household Chores: Many women remain physically active through daily household activities, which may contribute to better weight maintenance.

Dietary Awareness: Women may be more likely to monitor their food intake and engage in healthier eating habits compared to men.

The Global Obesity Crisis and Marriage’s Role

Obesity is a growing public health crisis worldwide. With marriage being a major life event that can alter lifestyle habits, it is important to understand its impact on body weight. The study reinforces that obesity is not just a personal choice but is influenced by a mix of social, psychological, and environmental factors.

Katharine Jenner, director of the Obesity Health Alliance, highlighted that the study underscores the complexity of weight gain and the importance of addressing broader lifestyle changes rather than focusing solely on individual choices. She pointed out that factors such as portion sizes, social eating, and decreased physical activity significantly contribute to the weight gain observed in married men.

How Can Married Couples Prevent Weight Gain?

Given the link between marriage and weight gain, it is essential to adopt healthy habits to maintain overall well-being. Here are some strategies that couples can follow:

1. Prioritize Healthy Eating Habits

Opt for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.

Practice portion control to avoid overeating.

Reduce the consumption of processed foods, sugary drinks, and high-calorie snacks.

2. Stay Physically Active Together

Engage in regular physical activities like jogging, cycling, or yoga together.

Join a gym or participate in sports that encourage movement.

Take short walks after meals to aid digestion and burn calories.

3. Avoid Excessive Dining Out

Cook healthy meals at home instead of frequently eating out.

When dining at restaurants, opt for healthier menu options and control portion sizes.

4. Encourage a Supportive Environment

Motivate each other to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Set fitness goals as a couple and celebrate achievements together.

5. Manage Stress and Mental Well-being

Practice mindfulness, meditation, or relaxation techniques to reduce stress-related eating.

Communicate openly about concerns and work towards a balanced lifestyle.

The study from Poland’s National Institute of Cardiology highlights a critical link between marriage and obesity, particularly among men. While marriage brings many benefits, it can also lead to lifestyle changes that contribute to weight gain. Understanding these risk factors and taking proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle can help prevent obesity and its associated health risks.

As obesity continues to be a growing concern worldwide, addressing the underlying social and behavioral influences of weight gain is essential. By adopting healthy habits and maintaining an active lifestyle, married individuals can enjoy the benefits of companionship without compromising their health.

</excerpt>

Marriage in India is considered the most sacred institution. It unites two loving souls for a purposeful life. In fact marriage creates the platform for family tree for successive generations.
It has sanctity, trust and mutual affection. Unfortunately in India, two major developments badly affected the marriage. They are delayed marriages and increasing number of divorces among the couple.
If one looks at the delayed marriages or no marriages, it is observed that for marriage to settle down, there are many pre-conditions. In 21 century, marriages are considerably different from the previous centuries.
With the focus on education and job market, the young and the educated youth prioritize themselves. In the past the parents used to settle down the marriage alliances. Contrary to this, the choice and selection of young girls of marriageable age holds the key for final settlements. They become independent according to their decision.
Right from the settlement to solemnization of marriage, the young brides and grooms decide the exercise altogether. As a result, only a section of the privileged get married and others are struggling to get married.
The boys remain unmarried even at 50 years of age. The job market, the mad race for money, opportunities outside the country and other status issues are involved in the marriage. A delayed marriage is what India has been facing as a whole with the exception of a few deserving lot. While a few of them are blessed, the others are cursed because of many social factors.

India, no doubt, ranks in the list of many bachelors who are waiting to be married. The number of married people is comparatively lower than those of unmarried people.
While this being the case, a shocking revelation came to light that the married couple don’t make a happy married life in the end. The statistics in Indian family Courts are an evidence of lacs of divorce cases pending for disposal.
Why is this trend of divorces taking place in India which speaks of values in society? It is a sort of dissatisfaction that separates the couple that too in a short after marriage is solemnized. It could be a clash between people of ancient and modern thinking.

On the other side, there is a strong tendency that married couple try to control each other. Shockingly, there are couples who seek divorce just months of marriage.
Even family Counseling Centers cannot convince the couple who filed divorce petitions. The Courts take time to grant the decree of divorce keeping in view of the future of children. A divorce may separate the couple but a decision to separate the kids from the parents is really heart-touching.

They are innocent kids or children become the victims of such divorces. Telangana stands at seventh position in the divorce percentage. Their upbringing, education and etc in society is always challenging.
They are identified as having kids with separated parents. The divorce rate is growing up at an alarming pace if one finds the number of divorce cases in Family Courts. Each divorce case has a story to tell in terms of arguments and counter arguments.

But in reality, the children lose their parental love, affection and care though there are legal protections. They lead a life of alienated identity without the company of parents.
All that mutual trust and understanding is losing from the young Indian minds. The modern lifestyles, job opportunities, independent thinking, and financial status determine the crisis the divorce rate in India. There is no compatibility among the couple. Adjustment and compromise can put Indian Marriage back on right track.

She was arrested in her seventh attempt to con a groom
</excerpt>

Four individuals, including two women, have been arrested for their involvement in a marriage scam that targeted single men and involved stealing valuables from their homes. The police arrested Poonam, who posed as a bride, along with Sanjana Gupta, who pretended to be her mother, and two men, Vimalesh Verma and Dharmendra Prajapati, who were responsible for identifying targets and facilitating the fraudulent marriages.

According to police reports, the accused had been running this elaborate scam for several months, during which they duped at least six victims. Vimalesh and Dharmendra would scout for potential grooms, convincing them that they could arrange a marriage for a fee of around Rs 1.5 lakh. The victims were then introduced to Poonam, who would pose as the bride, while Sanjana posed as her mother. The fraudulent couples would conduct a simple court marriage, and soon after, Poonam would accompany the groom to his home. Once there, she would steal cash and jewellery and flee before being noticed.

The scheme came to an end when Shankar Upadhyay, a local man, grew suspicious of the arrangement. According to Upadhyay’s complaint, Vimalesh contacted him and promised to find him a bride for a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh. He agreed to the terms and was introduced to Poonam at the court, but the situation raised alarms when the accused asked him to hand over the money.

Upadhyay, growing wary of their intentions, demanded to see identification proof from both Poonam and Sanjana. He mentioned in his complaint that their behaviour and demeanour seemed suspicious, which led him to refuse the marriage proposal. When he refused to proceed, the accused allegedly threatened him with violence and said they would frame him in false cases if he did not comply. Despite the threats, Upadhyay decided to leave the scene and report the matter to the authorities.

Shiv Raj, the Additional Police Superintendent of Banda, confirmed the arrests and said, “We received a complaint from the victim about the fraudulent marriage scam. Our teams were quickly alerted, and we successfully arrested the four individuals, including the two women, involved in the scam. They had been duping men in the name of marriage and stealing their valuables.”

The police are continuing their investigation into the matter and further legal proceedings are underway.

The news, accompanied by videos of Seema and her young husband, quickly went viral on social media, stirring both curiosity and controversy.

Seema has never shied away from saying so, even while defending her marriage when questioned by a reporter. “Pyaar karte the, kar liye shaadi, isme galat kya hai?” (We were in love, so we got married. What’s wrong in that?). This daring response led to much debate on love, age gap, and societal expectations.

The couple’s marriage has been in controversy because of the boy’s age and educational background. Seema, however, is unperturbed, and in fact, attacked a reporter in a viral video who questioned her choices, thus highlighting her defiance of norms.

Many social media users have slammed the marriage, which was based on the boy’s age and his incomplete education. One furious user said, “I wish there was a tradition of slapping online.” Another one said, “Completely wrong! Don’t you feel ashamed doing such things with children involved?”

A woman in Saharsa, Bihar, who is married to a man with two children, has defended her decision to marry her boyfriend. In the video, which was also shared on X (formerly Twitter), the ex-husband is seen helping organize the wedding. The boyfriend was applying traditional vermilion powder, also known as Sindoor, to the forehead of the woman, showing everyone their marriage bond. The ex-husband of the woman can be heard saying that any issue that may arise in future shall be the couple’s own problem, not his.

To fulfill the monetary obligation, he sold away his land and crops- even the harvest of the sugarcane.
Couple: Married on August 27, 1980, have two daughters and a son, but have been living apart since they started living separate lives that began deteriorating in the year 2006. The husband had filed for divorce in 2006, citing mental cruelty, but his petition was rejected. In 2013, he appealed to the High Court, and after 11 years, it referred the matter to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre to explore a compromise this November.

The husband, wife, and their children agreed to dissolve the marriage during the mediation process. The husband paid Rs. 3.07 crore as alimony. He did this by paying a demand draft of Rs. 2.16 crore and Rs. 50 lakh in cash after selling his sugarcane crop.

The court confirmed that, with the alimony paid, the wife and children would have no further claims against the husband. “Even after the death of the first party, the second and third parties (children) will not lay any claim over the estate that may be left by the first party at the time of his death, which will devolve upon as per succession, excluding the second and third party,” the court ruled.

</excerpt>

A viral video has left netizens stunned as a young woman introduces her father as her husband, claiming they were married in a traditional temple ceremony. The clip, which has reignited debates about morality and legality, challenges societal norms surrounding relationships like father-daughter and brother-sister bonds.

Father-Daughter Defend Their Marriage

In the video, the 24-year-old woman confidently states, “This is my father, and we are happy after getting married.” The 50-year-old father supports her, adding, “Yes, she is my daughter. So what is the problem in this?”

When confronted by a bystander questioning their lack of shame, the father responds dismissively, “In which era are you living? Why be ashamed?”

The woman explains their motivation for sharing the video, saying it was a response to those who had gossiped about their relationship. “Our marriage is our answer to those who talk behind our backs,” she asserts.

The video, shared on X by Samajwadi Party’s Jai Singh Yadav, has garnered millions of views. Though believed to date back to before 2020, when TikTok was banned in India, its resurfacing has sparked fresh criticism and debate.

</excerpt>

A recently surfaced viral video showcasing a couple during their pre-wedding shoot has ignited a significant debate regarding the boundaries of public displays of affection (PDA) in Indian culture. The footage, which depicts the couple sharing a kiss deemed inappropriate by some traditionalists, has drawn criticism from conservative viewers, highlighting a growing trend of couples challenging societal norms surrounding intimacy in public spaces.

Traditional Values vs. Modern Expressions of Love

Indian weddings have historically been characterized by rich rituals and ceremonies that celebrate family values and cultural heritage. However, as societal norms shift, younger generations are increasingly embracing contemporary expressions of love and affection. The couple featured in the video represents this transformation, showcasing their willingness to defy conventional expectations. While many applaud their boldness, others contend that such displays undermine the sanctity of traditional wedding customs and may create discomfort for older generations.

WATCH THE VIRAL VIDEO:

Social Media’s Role in Shaping Perceptions

The rise of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok has significantly influenced these discussions, allowing couples to share intimate moments with a broad audience. This exposure often results in both admiration and criticism. As more couples opt for pre-wedding shoots that capture candid and romantic interactions, the distinction between acceptable public behavior and inappropriate displays becomes increasingly blurred. This trend raises important questions about how cultural values can evolve in response to contemporary influences while still honoring traditions.

A Call for Open Dialogue

In light of the backlash surrounding the viral video, many advocates are calling for a more nuanced understanding of love and relationships in modern India. While it is essential to respect cultural traditions, it is equally crucial to acknowledge the evolving nature of romance and intimacy among younger individuals. As society navigates these changes, fostering open dialogues about personal expression becomes vital, allowing diverse perspectives on love and commitment to coexist.

The discourse surrounding the viral pre-wedding video underscores a pivotal moment in Indian society, where traditional values and modern expressions of love intersect. As couples continue to navigate their relationships in the public sphere, it is essential to cultivate understanding and respect for varying viewpoints while embracing the dynamic nature of love in contemporary India.

</excerpt>

Adnaan Shaikh, known for his stint on Bigg Boss OTT 3, has been making headlines following his marriage to Ayesha, his longtime girlfriend. Their wedding photos took social media by storm, leaving fans mesmerized. However, amid the celebrations, Adnaan and Ayesha have requested privacy, as Ayesha has chosen not to reveal her face publicly due to personal beliefs.

Family Feud Unfolds

In a surprising twist, Adnaan’s sister, Iffat, has come forward with serious allegations, claiming that Adnaan Shaikh physically attacked her and her father-in-law. Iffat’s revelations have added to the drama, stating that Ayesha was originally a Hindu named Riddhi Jadhav, who converted to Islam for her marriage to Adnaan.

Who is Ayesha Shaikh, aka Riddhi Jadhav?

Ayesha, previously known as Riddhi Jadhav, is the daughter of Rashmi Jadhav and the sister of Rahul Jadhav. Before marrying Adnaan, she worked as an air hostess with IndiGo Airlines. Her journey from Riddhi to Ayesha included a significant transformation, aligning with her marriage to Adnaan Shaikh. Interestingly, Ayesha had an Instagram profile under the name Riddhi Jadhav, but it has since been deleted. However, she does have another account named ‘Ayesha Shaikh,’ where no photos are shared.

Allegations of Seeking Fame

Compounding the controversy, a self-proclaimed friend of Ayesha, a YouTuber from the channel Akhbar Bani, has come forward with claims about Ayesha’s personality. According to the YouTuber, Riddhi was outspoken and desired fame, raising questions about the authenticity of her marriage to Adnaan. However, there has been no official response from Adnaan or Ayesha regarding these allegations.

A Grand Wedding Ceremony

Adnaan Shaikh and Ayesha exchanged vows on September 24, 2024. For the ceremony, Adnaan looked dapper in an ivory sherwani, while Ayesha chose a heavily embellished lehenga, opting to cover her face with a mask in adherence to her religious beliefs. Iffat has also stated that Adnaan and Ayesha had secretly married a year prior, further straining family dynamics.

As this situation unfolds, the public continues to speculate about the couple’s relationship and the claims made by Iffat, leaving many eager to see how it will all play out.

The decision to list the property comes as a surprise to many, considering the recent nuptials and the high profile of Sinha’s residence.

Sinha’s Mumbai home, renowned for its opulent design and prime location, has been a significant part of her life and career. The apartment, situated in one of the city’s upscale neighborhoods, boasts modern amenities and stylish interiors that reflect Sinha’s taste and success in the film industry.

The actress, who tied the knot with Iqbal earlier this year in a private ceremony, appears to be making significant changes in her personal and professional life. While the exact reasons behind the sale of the property have not been publicly disclosed, it is not uncommon for celebrities to make such moves as they transition into new phases of their lives.

Real estate experts anticipate that the apartment will attract considerable interest due to its luxury features and Sinha’s star power. As the couple navigates their new life together, the sale of this high-profile property may signal other forthcoming changes or developments in their personal or professional spheres.

</excerpt>

The Supreme Court has agreed to expedite its hearing on whether Muslim personal law, which allows child marriages, overrides the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. The decision follows a request from Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who emphasized the need for a swift resolution due to conflicting judgments from various High Courts.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra has announced that it will schedule the matter for a prompt hearing, stating, “We need to settle this matter urgently.”

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) filed the plea challenging a Punjab and Haryana High Court ruling that allowed a Muslim girl, upon reaching puberty, to legally marry under Muslim personal law. The NCPCR argued that the High Court’s decision should not serve as a precedent in other cases.

The Solicitor General highlighted concerns about underage Muslim girls—aged 14, 15, and 16—being married, and the National Commission for Women (NCW) previously sought to align the minimum marriage age for Muslim girls with the national standard, which is 18 for women and 21 for men.

The NCW contended that permitting marriage at puberty (around age 15) for Muslim girls is arbitrary and discriminatory, violating penal laws such as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and undermining the fundamental rights of minor Muslim women.

In its June ruling, the High Court had cited Muslim Personal Law to determine that a 15-year-old Muslim girl could legally marry. The NCPCR challenged this on the grounds that it contravenes the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, a secular law intended to protect all children under 18. The NCPCR’s plea also emphasizes that POCSO prohibits any child below 18 from giving valid consent.

</excerpt>

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finalized their divorce papers, although they have yet to be officially filed. The couple is coordinating a strategic public announcement and will issue a joint statement regarding the end of their marriage.

Sources close to Lopez and Affleck reveal that while the legal documents are complete, the couple is waiting for the right moment to make their separation public. They are working on finalizing arrangements and preparing a statement that will express mutual respect and their efforts to reconcile, despite ultimately being unable to resolve their differences.

Friends of Jennifer Lopez have noted how Ben Affleck’s recent actions have been interpreted as signals of their deteriorating relationship. Reports indicate that Affleck’s decision to buy a new house in Los Angeles, along with missing Lopez’s birthday and their second wedding anniversary, has deeply affected her.

According to a source who spoke to DailyMail, “The divorce papers were finalized a month ago, but they are waiting for the appropriate time to submit them.” The source added, “When they do release the statement, it will acknowledge their love for each other and their attempts to make things work, but ultimately they couldn’t come to a compromise. They’ve both accepted that what they had is now over.”

Although Lopez is reported to still have strong feelings for Affleck, he has indicated his intentions by moving out of their shared home and into a separate residence in Brentwood. The couple, who were last seen together on May 30th, have since kept their distance. While Lopez has been touring Europe and New York, Affleck has remained in Los Angeles with his children. With Affleck purchasing a new mansion in LA and their Beverly Hills home on the market, it seems increasingly clear that their divorce is approaching its final stages.

</excerpt>

The Japanese government has begun consulting young people about their interest in marriage, or lack thereof, as Japan continues to face a demographic crisis leading to a projected sharp population decline in the coming decades.

The Children and Families Agency, launched in April 2023, held its first working group meeting on Friday to support young people in finding partners through dating, matchmaking, and other means. The attendees included individuals considering marriage in the future and experts familiar with the challenges faced by younger people.

An agency official noted that current ideas about marriage among young people differ significantly from traditional standards. The government, seeking to understand these perspectives, has been consulting experts and now aims to hear directly from single individuals.

“The main premise is that marriage and child-rearing should be based on the respect for diverse values and ways of thinking of individuals,” said Ayuko Kato, the minister of state for policies related to children, addressing the gathering. “We would be grateful if we could hear your real voices – what you are thinking, what is preventing you from making your wishes come true.”

A survey cited by the agency, targeting single individuals aged 25 to 34, revealed that in 2021, 43.3% of men and 48.1% of women reported having no opportunities to meet potential partners. Many respondents indicated that they had not taken any steps to increase their chances, such as attending matchmaking events or asking friends for introductions.

Because relatively few children are born to unmarried people in Japan, the decline in marriage rates has been identified as a significant factor contributing to the country’s low birthrate and ageing population. In 2023, the number of marriages fell below 500,000 for the first time since the 1930s. Concurrently, births dropped 5.1% to 758,631, setting a new record low, nearly reaching 755,000—a figure the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research had predicted for 2035.

Surveys have shown that many young Japanese are reluctant to marry or start families due to concerns about the high cost of living in big cities, a lack of good jobs, and a work culture that makes it difficult for both partners to maintain employment or for women to return to full-time work after having children.

Local governments have responded with various measures, from providing daycare services to organizing matchmaking events. In June, the Tokyo metropolitan government announced plans to launch a dating app as early as this summer.

However, economist Takashi Kadokura, writing on a Yahoo Japan news blog, suggested that local government efforts to promote marriage were failing. He attributed this to the increasing number of non-regular workers who find it financially challenging to start a family.

</excerpt>

A controversial love guru in China, Le Chuanqu, who teaches women how to marry rich men, reportedly earns 142 million yuan (approximately ₹163 crore) per year. According to the South China Morning Post, the influencer, known by her online name Qu Qu, gained popularity by providing relationship and financial advice through social media platforms. Her unconventional approach attracted a substantial following but also sparked controversy.

Qu Qu’s advice often encourages behaviors that many consider unethical or manipulative in romantic relationships. She views relationships and marriage primarily as means to achieve financial gain and teaches women to adopt the same mindset. She uses euphemisms such as referring to marriage as ”inside the fortress,” money as ”rice,” and pregnancy as ”carrying a ball.” In her videos, she bluntly states, ”All relationships are essentially about benefit exchanges. Everything should be used to boost my advantage and empower me.”

Her services come at a high price. A one-on-one consultation during her live-streams costs $155 (Rs 12,945), while her most popular course, “Valuable Relationships,” costs $517 (Rs 43,179). Private counseling packages can cost more than $1,400 (Rs 1,16,927) per month. Beyond social media, Qu Qu also holds workshops and seminars where she offers in-depth guidance on dating strategies.

Due to the controversial nature of her teachings, Qu Qu was banned from Weibo for promoting unhealthy relationship views and incorrect values. Despite this, she continues to use AI techniques to promote her business and direct customers to private channels.

Public opinion on Qu Qu is divided. Some find her approach to relationships realistic and empowering. One user wrote, ”Her approach is understandable. What’s wrong with wanting both love and money? This is a realistic society. Why shouldn’t people strive for better?” Another commented, ”She has profoundly impacted me this year. I’ve learned fundamental concepts like goal orientation and leveraging everything to empower myself. Her insights into recognizing a man’s true nature are invaluable. I highly recommend her.” Conversely, others see her as hypocritical and believe she teaches women to objectify themselves and use men for financial gain. A third user said, ”She teaches girls to use men as cash cows and encourages competition among women. But she earns her living by working hard and relying on her efforts. Isn’t that hypocritical?”

Marriage ceremonies involving frogs hold significant cultural and agricultural symbolism in various parts of India, particularly in regions reliant on the monsoon for their agricultural prosperity.

This age-old custom is not merely a whimsical act but a profound plea to the rain Gods, invoking their blessings for timely and bountiful rains that ensure fertile crops and sustenance for communities.

The tradition of frog weddings is deeply ingrained in folklore, blending ancient beliefs with practical agricultural wisdom. Each region across India enriches this practice with its own distinct narratives and rituals, reflecting the diverse cultural tapestry of the country.

In rural areas, where farming practices are interwoven with seasonal rhythms, frog marriages serve as a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness between humans, nature, and the cycles of life.

Last year, a family organized a lavish wedding for their pet dog, complete with traditional attire, festive music, and elaborate decorations. The event, resembling a typical Indian wedding, quickly gained viral attention for its unexpected and joyful celebration.

</excerpt>

The belief that marriage is a necessity is in reality a myth. These are some of the reasons why-

1) A person can live happily and get settled in life despite not being married. It’s a myth that one settles down in life only when they get married.

2) Another myth about marriage is that marriage brings you a life time partner or the person who is there for you in your ups and downs. This is not the case with most people. The person who is selfish, not emotional and not so caring will remain the same even after getting married.

3) Marriage brings unhappiness is also a myth. The person who they love and are reciprocated with the same emotion, to them love brings happiness. It is not necessarily that the two people getting married would have the same level of affection between them.

4) Compromising in marriage is normal is another myth. Both people need to understand each other’s wants, their needs and their ambitions. They should help each other work for and achieve them. A marriage where huge compromises are made hardly ever survives.

5) Fights are healthy in a marriage is a myth. No fight is ever healthy and it only brings the relationship to a ruin.

6) Marry the right person to stay happy in marriage. No one is right or wrong. It is all about whom you want to live with and with whom you have a strong bond.

7) Married couples should do activities together is a myth. Couples individually should have a life of their own as well. They should go and meet friends by themselves occasionally. It helps in maintaining the individuality of the person.

8) Having children will make marriage work better is another big myth. Being in a married relationship where neither of the partner is happy, then continuing the relationship only for the sake of the kid is a compulsion. Staying together due to this very reason will have no positive effect on the marriage. It would instead bring suffering.

</excerpt>

According to the Karnataka High Court, the absence of a physical relationship after marriage constitutes cruelty under section 12(1)(a) of the Hindu Marriage Act rather than under section 498A of the IPC because the marriage has not been consummated. The court’s decision comes as it throws out a case alleging cruelty against a man and his parents under section 498A. The couple apparently barely lived together for 28 days before getting married in December 2019. A complaint was made in February 2020 by the wife. Although the in-laws were also the target of the complaint, the wife’s major complaint was against the husband, a devotee of Brahmakumari.

According to reports, the husband is accused of watching videos of certain Brahmakumari sister Shivani. The wife allegedly said that the husband would tell her he was not interested in physical relationship and that love is not getting physical relationship and should have soul to soul love.

On the opposing side, the in-laws were accused of pressuring for dowry during the marriage and influencing their son to do the same. The wife’s plea resulted in a similar hearing, where the family court invalidated the marriage. The highest court observed that this decision was based on the argument that the husband and wife had no physical intimacy. In a petition to the higher court, the husband and his parents raised doubts about the charges brought against them under IPC section 498A and section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The Karnataka high court acknowledged the fact that the parents did not live with the couple. Furthermore, the court highlighted that neither the chargesheet nor the wife’s complaint described any incident or event that would qualify as an element of IPC section 498A during the 28 days the couple resided together. Justice M Nagaprasanna stated that the only complaint was that the husband had no intention of engaging in a physical relationship with his wife.

</excerpt>

Ever since the homo sapiens have understood the value of being together as a family; the concept of marriage has been rated very highly. This particular bond called marriage has withstood the test of time without any fallacy. No matter how much the subject of love and romance has been promoted by every form of art, it still didn’t get the required acceptance to make it a mass appeal. No matter how much we have tried to infuse the breath of acceptance, it has been on the ventilator of diminishing dignity.

The sanctity and serenity of marriage has undoubtedly been the front-runner
whenever there is a debate on the authenticity of this pious bond. But taking a microscopic view on this pious bond propels us to think on a different tangent that whether the piousness of this bond has remained pious in this modern society, or has it turned poisonous? The increasing rate of divorce may seem the major obstacle in maintaining the godly aspect but it’s just the tip of the iceberg.

If we just lay a bird’s eye view towards our society, a plethora of problems are ready to make this marriage a mayhem. If the domestic violence has been a major cause in the weaker sections of the society; the economic imbalance between both partners in the so-called sophisticated class have made the marriage a mess. And it would be useless to describe the plight caused by the devil of divorce which has laid the marriage into an infinite loop of stagnating cobweb. How much it seems funny that we call ourselves a modern society by putting a lid on getting married at a comparatively young age, but we hardly care about the compatibility between the two partners before putting them into the furnace of marriage? Yep! Some may argue that getting married in your late twenties may decrease such mishaps but how can we let people commit to a lifelong commitment on the pretext of ‘may and should’.

And if all these are not enough; we are not ready to come out from the hangover of finding our soulmate even after getting married? Even though we have surpassed the age of being a teenager but our brewing romance in the hope of finding either a soulmate or being adventurous clearly put us in the clan of cheaters. And it would be a no-brainer that any cheater who cheats either out of compulsion or craving of copulation does not have the right to be in such a pious bond.

As we need to understand that marriage is something which requires extreme mature thought-process which could make it a memorable experience rather than being a mayhem.

Tushar Mehta, the Centre’s solicitor general, explained this to a five-judge Constitution Bench. A group of petitions concerning “marriage equality rights for LGBTQIA+ community” are being heard by the five-judge Constitution Bench, which is made up of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice S Ravindra Bhat, Justice Hima Kohli, and Justice PS Narasimha.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta apprised the Supreme Court that a committee headed by the cabinet secretary will be formed to look into the issues faced by the same-sex couple.SG Mehta further submitted that petitioners can submit suggestions so that the committee can apply their minds to it.The bench observed that it appears that the Centre is accepting that people do have a right to co-habit and basis of that there may be certain incidents of that cohabitation like bank accounts and insurance policies.

SG Mehta submitted before the Supreme Court that the government is positive about the concerns raised by the top court for giving some social benefits to same-sex couples. He further said that this would need coordination between more than one ministry.

In the last hearing on April 27, the Supreme Court asked the government to give a response on social benefits that can be given to same-sex couples even without legal recognition of their marital status.CJI DY Chandrachud has suggested that there are ministries dedicated to this purpose like social justice and empowerment such as Ministry for Women and Child Development. The court has asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to see if there can be separate legislation taken which would protect the rights of same-sex couples.

 The Delhi High Court stated on Wednesday that there is no legal basis for the State to forbid an interfaith couple from getting married while hearing a plea filed by two foreign nationals seeking to have their marriage solemnised and registered under the Special Marriage Act, 1954

Justice Yashwant Varma was a hearing a plea made by a interfaith couple, the woman being a Hindu who is a Canadian citizen and a christian man who is an American citizen. The petitioner’s attorney claimed that the couple had lived in Delhi for more than six months. They aim to stay put and get hitched in accordance with the Special Marriage Act (SMA).

Justice Varma said, “There is no way that the State can prohibit an interfaith couple to marry.”

The petition addresses the Special Marriage Act’s restrictions on foreign nationals’ ability to legally consummate their marriages and the right to do so. The court ruled on Wednesday that the matter should be called again on December 15 so that parties may submit in-depth arguments and the court could address them.
The parties are free to submit their written arguments and the court order they rely on in the case.
The couple had submitted a marriage application on the Delhi Government website, according to the argument made by attorney Rishabh Kapur. An error message stating that “at least one party should be Indian” appeared after they had submitted their information. The couple was then barred from going any farther.

According to the petition, the SDM office instructed them that specific party information had to be entered into the website in order for it to function.

The petitioners have asked the Delhi Government and SDM for a directive to allow them to physically present their paperwork, solemnise their marriage, and register it under the SMA in a timely way.
The petition has relied on the High Court’s order from 2021, which instructed the Delhi Government to take action to revise the rules and make the required updates to the website to make it possible for foreign nationals who want to get married in Delhi to file for registration of their union.
The petition claimed that the government had not taken any action to make the changes even after the directions passed 16 months back.
