The Class 12 student’s body was found on Saturday from a field used for farming which comes under the Umarban police post, about 70 km from the district headquarters, an official said.

Further Superintendent of Police Gitesh Garg said that they opened an investigation after learning about the murder.

Police then heard that she was being harassed by a classmate, he added.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to having killed the teenager. He told the police that he got angry after she had stopped talking to him, the official added.

The girl was asked by the victim to come and meet him on Friday night at an agricultural farm, where he killed her with a sharp object.

They beat me daily and threaten to kill me. If something happens to me, my family will be responsible,” she stated.

Her social media post caught widespread attention, prompting police intervention. Officers, led by Superintendent Dharmveer Singh, arrived at her home to mediate the escalating conflict. A community panchayat was also in progress to resolve the issue.

During the intervention, Tanu requested to be taken to a One-Stop Centre, a government facility for women facing violence. However, her father insisted on a private conversation, claiming he could resolve the matter peacefully.

Instead, Mahesh retrieved a country-made firearm and shot his daughter in the chest. Rahul, Tanu’s cousin, fired additional shots at her head and neck, ensuring her death. The attack left Tanu lifeless at the scene.

The assailants then turned their weapons toward police officers and family members, threatening further violence. While Mahesh was subdued and arrested, Rahul fled the scene with the weapon.

Community Shock and Police Action

The incident has left the local community in shock, particularly as it unfolded amidst wedding preparations. Tanu’s wedding was scheduled for January 18, just four days after her murder.

The fire broke out at around 2:30 am in a colony under the Industrial Area police station limits, according to officials.

The electric motorcycle, which had been plugged in outside Bhagwat Maurya’s house for charging, caught fire and spread to another vehicle, said VD Joshi, the in-charge of the Industrial Area police station.

Joshi explained that the family had gone to sleep after plugging in the vehicle. They were awakened by smoke filling the house and quickly called the fire brigade, managing to escape. Unfortunately, Bhagwat Maurya’s granddaughter, Antra Choudhary, was unable to make it out in time and died of suffocation. Bhagwati Maurya and 12-year-old Lavanya were injured and are receiving medical treatment.

Antra, who had been staying with her grandfather, was supposed to return to her home in Vadodara (Gujarat) on Sunday morning.

A case has been filed, and the investigation is ongoing, the official added.

Sumit fell into the borewell around 3:30 pm on Saturday, and rescue efforts began at 6 pm. Despite continuous efforts, he was only rescued at approximately 9:30 am the following morning. The teams dug a parallel pit up to 40 feet and provided oxygen support to the boy throughout the operation. A medical team was also on-site to monitor his condition.

He was immediately taken to a hospital following the rescue. Guna Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Man Singh Thakur said that the rescue operations began at 6:00 in the evening on Saturday and went on till the boy was rescued in the morning today. The boy remains unconscious and his breathing is slow, he added.

“Sumit fell into the borewell yesterday afternoon at around 3:30 pm. The rescue operation to take him out began at around 6 pm. Today morning at around 9:30 am, Sumit was taken out of the borewell. He has been taken to the hospital, his breathing is slow. He is unconscious right now,” Thakur told.
The official informed that two rescue teams were deployed to help rescue the boy. The incident took place in the Janjali area of Raghogarh on Saturday evening. Collector Satyendra Singh of Guna earlier said, “The oxygen support is being provided to the boy (trapped inside the borewell). All the teams are engaged in the rescue operation.”
The boy was trapped at a depth of around 39 feet, the official added. A parallel 22-foot-deep pit was dug to rescue the boy. He also mentioned that a team of doctors was providing oxygen support to the boy.

Three people were injured by a leopard during a picnic in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district on Sunday, after a group began filming and teasing the animal to approach them.

Among the injured were a woman and an off-duty police officer, both of whom sustained severe head injuries.

In a 29-second video, picnickers are seen gathered around a small hill, calling out. Despite warnings from one person off-camera, the group continued to taunt the leopard with calls of “aa jaa, aa jaa.” Moments later, the leopard appeared from the bushes, and chaos erupted as it charged toward the group.

Amid panicked screams, the leopard attacked, with one man seen being pounced on. The animal tried to bite his neck while others shouted in horror. Three individuals—Nitin Samdariya (35), an ASI with Shahdol police, Akash Kushwaha (23), and Nandini Singh (25) were injured by the leopard’s claws and teeth.

Several other group members were hurt in the resulting stampede. “The woman sustained severe injuries as the leopard dug its claws into her head,” said Bhupendra Mani Pandey, the officer in charge of Sohagpur police station.

Bail Conditions: Salute the Tiranga 21 Times

The High Court of Madhya Pradesh, based in Jabalpur, granted Nisar bail on October 15. In addition to furnishing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and a solvent surety of the same amount, the court imposed specific conditions for his release. Nisar is required to report to Misrod Police Station in Bhopal on the 1st and 4th Tuesday of every month between 10 AM and 12 PM. As part of his bail terms, he must salute the national flag 21 times and shout the patriotic slogan ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’
