Following their recent defeat in the Madhya Pradesh state polls, the Congress party is gearing up for the next Lok Sabha elections. On Tuesday, the state Congress office in Bhopal hosted an important gathering that was attended by prominent members of the party, including district presidents, MLAs, and Jitendra Singh, the AICC’s Madhya Pradesh in-charge.

The meeting, attended by State Congress President Jitu Patwari, former CM Digvijaya Singh, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, and other leaders, focused on introspection and planning. Patwari stated, “The members of our party have gathered here for contemplation and review. It is the first step of the Congress party in preparation for the Lok Sabha election and its roadmap.” He expressed confidence in the future, saying, “I believe that the coming time will be for the people of Madhya Pradesh and Congress workers.”

Jitendra Singh, visiting Bhopal for the first time as the state in-charge, acknowledged the party’s recent electoral challenges but emphasized the enthusiasm among party workers. “Today we have organized a meeting to discuss the preparations and process for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” Singh remarked.

State Congress president Patwari welcomed Singh at Bhopal airport, sharing the party’s positive outlook despite recent setbacks. Patwari conveyed, “It is definitely a challenging situation, but with the joint efforts of each and every soldier of the Congress Party, it is not impossible for the Congress to perform better in Madhya Pradesh.”

Speaking to reporters, Patwari emphasized the party’s enthusiasm for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, asserting, “The future belongs to Congress. With the organizational skills, support, and dedication of Congress’s dedicated soldiers, Congress has started preparing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.” He outlined the goal of increasing the vote percentage and spreading the ideology of Congress across the state.

</excerpt>

In the aftermath of the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released disturbing data showing that ninety-nine out of the 230 newly elected MLAs, or nearly 39 percent of them, are still facing criminal charges.

The ADR, a non-profit organization disclosing vital candidate information, outlined in its report that 34 MLAs, or around 15%, have serious criminal charges against them among the winners in the state elections.

Among these troubling figures are 51 MLAs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 38 from the Congress Party, and one from the Bharatiya Adivasi Party.

While there has been a slight decrease from the 2018 elections, when 94 out of 230 MLAs faced criminal charges, the number of crorepati MLAs has increased. 89% of the newly elected members are ‘crorepatis,’ with 144 BJP members and 61 Congress members. In comparison, 187 crorepati MLAs were elected in the previous assembly elections in 2018.

The report also spotlights educational qualifications, noting that 161 winning candidates are graduates or higher. Additionally, there are 64 candidates with educational qualifications ranging from 5 to 12, while three hold diplomas and two are literate.

Significantly, only 12% of the winning candidates are women, totaling 27 out of 230 MLAs. Despite the increase compared to the last assembly polls, where only 21 MLAs were women, the representation remains modest.

In the recently concluded polls, the BJP secured a resounding victory by winning 163 seats, with Congress trailing at 66 seats and the Bharat Adivasi Party securing one seat in Madhya Pradesh. The state went to the polls on November 17 for its 230 assembly seats.

</excerpt>

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, expressing their optimism, anticipate the BJP securing a resounding victory in Madhya Pradesh as the state braces for the election results on December 3.

Scindia, while addressing reporters in Gwalior, asserted, “We have full confidence that the BJP will form the government with a full majority in MP during tomorrow’s counting. Let us wait for 24 hours, and the results will be in front of us.”

Echoing this sentiment, Chouhan in Bhopal remarked, “We are confident that the BJP is forming the government in the state with a huge majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party has received support from every section of the society, and we are going to form the government here with an overwhelming majority.”

Madhya Pradesh conducted polls for its 230 assembly seats on November 17, witnessing a substantial voter turnout of 77.15%. As the state eagerly awaits the electoral outcome, most exit polls released on Thursday hinted at the BJP leading, while some projections favored the Congress.

Reacting to the exit poll results, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath expressed skepticism, alleging that certain exit polls were deliberately designed to demoralize Congress workers and create an artificial sense of pressure on officials by fabricating a misleading narrative.

As the anticipation builds for the election results in Madhya Pradesh, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh of Congress projects confidence, asserting an expected win of over 130 seats in the state, setting the stage for a promising outcome.

Speaking to ANI in Bhopal, Digvijaya Singh expressed the party’s optimism, anticipating victory in more than 130 constituencies. Singh took a swipe at the BJP, highlighting apprehensions of unethical practices and accusing the BJP of doing business instead of practicing politics.

Echoing this sentiment, Jaivardhan Singh, another Congress leader, anticipates a clear majority for the Congress, emphasizing the public’s desire to end the BJP’s 18-year rule in the state.

In contrast, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of the BJP exudes confidence, affirming the party’s imminent formation of a government with a substantial majority. Chouhan highlighted the BJP’s widespread support across diverse sections of society.

Madhya Pradesh witnessed robust voter turnout on November 17, recording 77.82 percent participation across the 230 constituencies. As the state awaits the December 3 vote count, the pre-election exit polls have divergent views, with most favoring the BJP while others speculate an advantage for the Congress, setting the stage for an intriguing outcome.

</excerpt>

In anticipation of the imminent vote counting in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan confidently stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form a robust government in the state with a substantial majority.

Addressing reporters in Bhopal on Saturday, CM Chouhan expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, emphasizing the widespread support garnered from all segments of society. He mentioned the blessings received from various sections, including ‘Ladli Bahna’ (beloved sisters) and the younger generation, asserting that the BJP has secured backing from diverse social strata, indicating a decisive victory.

Referring to the speculation on the BJP’s seat count, Chouhan indicated a paradigm shift in outcomes and remained non-committal, stating, “All previous estimations would prove inadequate.”

Responding to the Congress party’s assertion of confidence in victory, Chouhan refrained from making explicit comments, suggesting that clarity on the election results would prevail only on the upcoming day.

Madhya Pradesh witnessed a substantial voter turnout of 77.15% across its 230 constituencies during the elections held on November 17. The eagerly anticipated vote counting is scheduled for December 3.

Exit polls largely favor the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, with most projections positioning them ahead, although a few projections present a favorable outlook for the Congress party.

</excerpt>

Madhya Pradesh Polls: Madhya Pradesh, a state where the BJP faced challenges in securing a majority in 2018, is predicted to witness a return to power for the saffron party, according to exit polls. The NewsX Poll of Polls positions the BJP at 119 seats in the 230-member Assembly, with the Congress trailing at 107. Other parties may secure four seats in an assembly where the majority mark is 116.

According to the PolStrat exit poll, the BJP is expected to win 106-116 seats, while the Congress is expected to win 111-121. Other parties fall between 0 and 6. According to the Jan Ki Baat exit poll, the BJP has 113 seats, the Congress has 112, and others have five seats. Matrize predicts 118-130 seats for the BJP, 97-107 for the Congress, and 0 for others.

In the last Assembly Elections held on November 28, 2018, the Indian National Congress emerged as the single largest party, with Kamal Nath assuming office as the Chief Minister. The ABP-C Voter Exit Poll now suggests a resurgence for the Congress, projecting the party to win between 113 and 137 seats, while the BJP is expected to secure seats between 88 and 112. The Congress is also anticipated to draw a vote share of 44.1%, a growth from 40.9% in the last election, while the BJP may see a minor dip in the vote percentage at 40.7%, down from 41%.

The 230-member assembly went to the polls in a single phase on November 17, with the BJP and the Congress vying for power. The BJP won 109 seats in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections. Battling anti-incumbency after nearly two decades in power, the BJP relied on Prime Minister Modi’s appeal and the strategic acumen of Amit Shah. The Congress rejuvenated after setbacks in 2018, aimed to capitalize on perceived anti-incumbency and controversies within the state BJP unit.

As the state awaits election results, exit polls show a closely contested battle with implications for the Madhya Pradesh political landscape and broader national dynamics. The outcome will be closely watched as the BJP attempts to make a comeback in a state where it has traditionally held sway.

These exit polls are crucial indicators of the possible outcomes of the assembly elections, providing insights into the level of support for political parties and their candidates.

Exit polls are surveys conducted immediately after people have cast their votes, aiming to gauge the preferences of voters for different candidates and parties. The voting in these states took place between November 7 and November 30, with results scheduled to be announced on Sunday, December 3.

The Election Commission of India (EC) had initially prohibited the announcement of exit poll results until November 30, as per a notification issued in October. However, the EC has now allowed the release of exit poll results after 5:30 pm on November 30, modifying its earlier directive.

These state assembly elections hold significant importance as they precede the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May the following year. The exit poll results will offer insights into the political landscape and potential outcomes in these states.

</excerpt>

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan encouraged residents on Friday to cast their votes for the state’s development as polling commenced for the 230 assembly seats. Speaking to ANI, Chouhan confidently stated that the Congress party would not succeed in Madhya Pradesh. He appealed to the public to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasizing the positive response the BJP receives for its work in society.

Regarding the Chief Ministerial face, Chouhan remarked that party leaders prioritize the mission of working for the country and state’s development over personal considerations. He stated, “Our party makes the decision on who has to work where. We don’t think about ourselves; our mission is to work for the development of the country and Madhya Pradesh…BJP is going to get the biggest majority in history.”

Voting for the assembly seats began at 7 a.m., with polling closing at 6 p.m., except for specific constituencies where voting concludes at 3 p.m. The BJP aims to maintain its nearly two-decade rule in Madhya Pradesh, while the Congress seeks to unseat the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

Security measures for the elections include webcasting at approximately 42,000 polling stations, deployment of nearly 700 central force companies, and two lakh state police personnel. Over 2,500 candidates are vying for electoral success, with around 5.59 crore eligible voters, including 2.87 crore males and 2.71 crore females. The counting of votes for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram is scheduled for December 3.

During this, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President VD Sharma, Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scinda, Ashwani Vaishnav, Prahlad Patel and others were present on the occasion.

The Sankalp Patra has been named ‘Modi ki guarantee, BJP ka bharosa, Madhya Pradesh Sankalp Patra 2023 (Modi’s Guarantee, Trust in BJP, Madhya Pradesh Sankalp Patra 2023).
There are ten major resolutions of the party in the manifesto which include the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for 5 years in which free ration to all the poor families and apart from this the party will provide pulses, mustard oil and sugar at subsidised rates.

The other resolution states no family in Madhya Pradesh will remain homeless. For this, along with the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, the Chief Minister will start the Public Housing Scheme. The Ladli Bahna will get the benefit of housing along with monthly financial assistance.

Similarly, the party will make arrangements for the purchase of wheat at Rs 2,700 a quintal and paddy at Rs 3,100 a quintal. The party will also provide Rs 12,000 annually to the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and Chief Minister Farmer Kalyan Yojana. Tendu leaves collection rate will be ensured at Rs 24,000 a sack and free education will be arranged till class 12th for all the students from poor families.

The party will further ensure that at least one employment or self-employment opportunity in every family.

During this, BJP leader JP Nadda said, “The importance of the manifesto, Sankalp Patra has been declining slowly along with time because political parties first attract people and then forget. (They) make promises, forget, and mislead the public. But the BJP is the only party that has implemented the manifesto in letter and spirit. It is our track record.”
On the occasion, CM Chouhan said that it was a very auspicious day and the BJP’s Sankalp Patra was launched in the presence of the BJP National President.

“It is the guarantee of PM Modi that we will make this manifesto our road map for the development of Madhya Pradesh and for the welfare of the people of the state. I have a feeling of satisfaction when I say that, whatever we thought and said, we tried to fulfil it. When we noticed that girls were killed in the womb. We made a policy like the Ladli Laxmi Yojana,” CM Chouhan said.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states set to undergo polls in one phase on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. Voters will choose legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his criticism of the Congress during a rally in Madhya Pradesh, asserting that the party, if elected, would “reverse the development journey” in the state. Drawing a parallel with a vehicle’s reverse gear that moves backward, PM Modi accused the Congress of being adept at reversing progress. He cautioned against falling for Congress’ grand promises, suggesting that they often conceal unfavorable intentions.

In Satna, PM Modi emphasized that Congress couldn’t ensure development and bluntly stated, “Congress aayi, tabahi laayi (Congress came, brought with it destruction).” He asserted that the party lacked a concrete roadmap for Madhya Pradesh’s development, highlighting the skepticism among the state’s youth regarding Congress’ ability to deliver progress.

PM Modi’s recent rallies have significantly boosted the BJP’s campaign in Madhya Pradesh, where the assembly polls are scheduled for November 17. In contrast, the Congress is actively working to challenge the BJP’s hold on the state. The vote count for Madhya Pradesh and four other states is slated for December 3. The Prime Minister urged voters to repose faith in the BJP, portraying Congress as a party with a reverse gear and questionable commitments to development.

</excerpt>

In a fiery rally in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing critique of the Congress, accusing the party of bringing destruction when in power. Modi emphasized that Congress lacks a development roadmap for Madhya Pradesh, asserting that the state’s youth sees no future in Congress. Urging people to vote for the BJP, he declared faith in his guarantees and warned that a Congress victory would end free ration and health treatment. Modi accused Congress of creating hurdles for the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, pushing the state into darkness.

He pledged “sabka vikas” (development for everyone) and highlighted the construction of four crore houses in the past decade. The Prime Minister equated the devotion in building the Ram temple with constructing houses, ensuring those without homes would receive one. Madhya Pradesh heads to polls on November 17, with Modi rallying support against the Congress.

Urging people in the state to vote for BJP, he said, “Your one vote has done wonders that the country’s enemies have lost their courage. Your MP’s one vote will strengthen Modi in Delhi. Your one vote will oust corrupt Congress from MP.” He further said that if the Congress is voted to power “free ration and free health treatment will stop.”

“Where did all this money go in the Congress government? It went in the 2G scam, it went in the coal scam, it went in the Commonwealth scam but I stopped all these scams. In 10 years, the BJP has sent Rs 10 lakh crore to the accounts of the poor. It is unfortunate for Congress that you have given power to a watchman. We started the scheme of giving free ration during the Corona period. This scheme will be completed in December. People have suggested that it should be extended, so I decided that I will run this scheme for another five years. This will end the ration worries of 4 lakh families of Satna district,” PM Modi questioned.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, Nadda stated, “Congress is equivalent to corruption. Party and corruption are two sides of the same coin. Wherever there is Congress, there is corruption, oppression, looting, and fraud.”He went on to contrast the BJP’s governance with that of the Congress, emphasising that wherever the BJP is in power, development and public welfare follow. He characterised the difference between the two parties as the contrast between light and darkness, akin to the difference between Amavasya (the new moon) and Poornamasi (the full moon).

“Madhya Pradesh was counted as one of the BIMARU states during the Congress’s governance. Now, it is one of the developed states. This is the difference”, he counted. During his speech, Nadda also drew attention to various corruption cases, including the AgustaWestland scam, the coal scam, and the MGNREGA scam, to illustrate the association between Congress and corruption.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states scheduled for elections in one phase on November 17, with the vote counting set for December 3. Voters will choose legislators for the state’s 230 Assembly constituencies.
