</excerpt>

A tragic incident unfolded in Guna district on Sunday as a 10-year-old boy, identified as Sumit Meera, died shortly after being rescued from a borewell. The boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at the district hospital, where medical officials confirmed he had no pulse and showed signs of rigor mortis.

According to Dr. Rahul Raghuvanshi of the Guna district hospital, Sumit was brought in after a lengthy rescue operation that began on Saturday evening. “The child was brought dead from the rescue location. His condition was critical, and he was unconscious when he arrived,” Dr. Raghuvanshi stated.

Rescue Operation Details

The incident occurred in the Janjali area of Raghogarh around 3:30 PM on Saturday when Sumit fell into the borewell. </excerpt>

A distressing incident unfolded in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, where a farmer, accompanied by his wife and three children, resorted to crawling on their knees in front of the sub-divisional magistrate’s office. The shocking protest, aimed at drawing attention to their ongoing land dispute, has since gone viral on social media.

Farmer’s Ordeal Over Blocked Land Access

The farmer, identified as Lakshman from Khategoan village in Dewas district, is embroiled in a land dispute with a neighbour over his 1.5-acre agricultural plot in Davtha village, located approximately 100 kilometers from Dewas. Lakshman claims that his neighbor has blocked access to his land and prevented him from harvesting his maize crop. Despite several attempts to seek help from local authorities, Lakshman alleges that his pleas have gone unanswered, leaving him feeling helpless.

Unconventional Protest to Seek Attention

On Wednesday, Lakshman and his family took to an unusual form of protest, crawling on their knees in front of the sub-divisional magistrate’s office. In the video, which rapidly spread across social media platforms, the family’s distress is visible as they seek justice for their land dispute. The incident has sparked outrage and sympathy among viewers, highlighting the farmer’s desperation.

Government’s Response to the Protest

The sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Priya Chandrawat, responded to the incident by acknowledging that Lakshman had lost a civil court case against his neighbour regarding the land dispute. However, she assured the public that the tehsildar and patwari (revenue officials) would visit the site to investigate further and attempt to find a resolution.

Lakshman’s case underscores the larger issue of unresolved land disputes in rural India and the challenges faced by farmers in seeking justice. The viral video has brought attention to his struggle, and many are now calling for prompt action from authorities to resolve his case.

Ongoing Struggles in Rural India

Land disputes are a common issue in rural India, where farmers often face significant barriers in obtaining legal redress. The viral video of Lakshman and his family highlights the severity of the situation, with the farmer going to extreme lengths to gain the attention of authorities in the hopes of a fair resolution.

The public’s reaction to the incident reflects the growing frustration with inefficiencies in the legal and administrative systems, especially for marginalised communities like farmers.

</excerpt>

In response to the tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the Madhya Pradesh government has mandated the installation of CCTV cameras in all state-run medical colleges and hospitals. The decision aims to bolster security, particularly in sensitive areas such as gynecology wards where there is a higher presence of women.

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health and Medical Education Minister, Rajendra Shukla, emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, stating, “The incident in West Bengal has shaken everyone. We must act with greater sensitivity toward the safety of our doctors and patients. Therefore, instructions have been given to ensure that all medical colleges and hospitals are equipped with CCTV surveillance, particularly in areas with higher foot traffic and vulnerable populations. This will help in quickly identifying and apprehending those involved in criminal activities.”

The Madhya Pradesh government is committed to enhancing security, with a focus on creating a safe environment for female students, Shukla noted. Tightened security measures are being implemented across the state’s medical facilities to address safety concerns.

Regarding nighttime inspections, Shukla explained that deans and superintendents have been instructed to remain vigilant, maintaining constant oversight. Additional manpower will be allocated to institutions that are currently understaffed to ensure security measures are fully enforced. These efforts will extend to government hospitals as well.

On August 14, the Director of Medical Education issued specific guidelines to the deans of all medical colleges, which are to be implemented immediately. The guidelines call for CCTV cameras, adequate lighting, and security personnel in high-risk areas such as parking lots, basements, rooftops, and staircases. Strict control will also be imposed at entry and exit points to prevent the entry of unauthorized individuals.

Security personnel will conduct continuous patrols to monitor for any suspicious activities. Deans and superintendents are also required to perform night rounds to ensure campus security. Hospitals have been instructed to collaborate with local police for continuous monitoring and patrols. If a police post is located on campus, they are expected to actively contribute to ensuring security.

Furthermore, to minimize congestion in hospitals, only one attendant per patient will be allowed after 6 PM, with strict access control at hospital entrances and wards. These measures are intended to protect both patients and staff while maintaining order within medical facilities.

“Currently, a cyclone has formed in the upper air of Northwest Madhya Pradesh. A cyclone is also formed in Rajasthan due to which moisture is arriving from the Arabian Sea. Due to the moisture, movement of clouds is being seen. As a result of which, there may be rain with strong winds in Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Indore, Dewas, Dhar, Betul and nearby places. The wind speed can be 50-60 kilometres an hour and hail storms may also be seen at some places. We have issued an orange alert in 10 districts for the same,” said VS Yadav Meteorologist, IMD Bhopal.
Apart from this, the temperature has started to increase in North East Madhya Pradesh which includes the Gwalior-Chambal region, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Niwari, Rewa, and Sidhi district. It can lead to a heatwave, he added.

He further said, “The monsoon is likely to arrive in the state after June 18. Right now wherever it is raining, the temperature which used to be 44-43 degree celsius has now reduced to 40-42 degree celsius.”

</excerpt>

Mercury is relentless in Madhya Pradesh‘s Gwalior-Chambal region, and the intense heat is exacerbating water scarcity in various residential colonies in Gwalior city. Residents have been complaining of dealing with an acute shortage of water, with some having to wait three to four days for supply.
Many colonies have been without tap water for the past four months, forcing locals to depend on Municipal Corporation tankers for their water supply.

“We have not received water from the tap for the last four months. We are dependent on water from the municipal corporation tankers. Also, sometimes we have to call the tankers by paying them,” a resident said.

Residents complained that despite complaining to civic body authorities, there is no relief. “We get the same response from Municipal Corporation officials that water will be available in a few days. When people complain to the local corporator about the water problem and ask for alternate arrangements, the response we get from the public representatives is that if there is no water, then get the connection disconnected,” they alleged.

Gwalior Collector Ruchika Chauhan said that the supply of water was being ensured through tankers.
“Last year, the average rainfall in the Gwalior district was less, as a result of which there is less water in the reservoir. So, it is important to use water wisely, otherwise the water scarcity may deepen further in July. All efforts are being made to conserve water. Water is being supplied through tankers to the colonies suffering from shortages,” the Collector said while speaking to ANI.
She further added, “A proposal of Rs 19 crore has been sent to the state government for a plan to lift water from Kaketo and Pehsari Dam. If it gets approval, then it will help us to make water available.”

Built in 1876 during British administration, the gate collapsed late on Saturday night in the midst of building going on nearby.

As stated by Damoh SP Shrut Kirti Somvanshi, the injured laborer was sent right away to the district hospital.

A JCB machine and its operator were caught in the falling rubble while working on building projects, according to Niket Chourasia, the Deputy Collector of Damoh. Luckily, four additional employees were able to flee with very minor wounds. The SDRF and local police carried out rescue operations until 4 AM, ending only after it was determined that no more people were trapped.

The gate collapsed close to a private construction site. It is a landmark in the heavily populated Hakganj neighborhood and has archaeological value.
The collapse is thought to have been caused by incompetence in the excavation work that was being done to build a basement on Swapnil Sonu Bajaj’s property, according to Kapil Soni, the councilor for the area.
He further emphasized that the catastrophe might have been avoided if city officials had acted sooner.

The private construction project infuriated the locals, who also accused the municipal government of failing to address their past complaints.
In addition to injuring a worker, the incident caused community anguish and raised questions about local construction safety laws because it resulted in the loss of an important historical monument.

</excerpt>

A man purportedly murdered his pregnant wife due to his extramarital affair under the jurisdiction of Madhotal police station in Jabalpur on Saturday night, Police reported. Initially, the accused, identified as Shubham Choudhary, attempted to deceive the police by portraying the incident as a robbery while en route to his wife’s residence. However, upon investigation, the police discovered that Shubham, accompanied by three associates, was responsible for his wife’s death.

Madhotal police station in-charge Vipin Tamrakar said, “Following the incident, Shubham has filed a complaint. But during investigation, we got to know that he was having an affair for the last 10 years and because of this he wants to get rid of his wife and committed the crime.”

“During investigation, we found contradictions in Shubham Choudhary’s statement after which, family circumstances, and his call history details were scrutinized and we got to know about his relations with the woman. Later, during interrogation he confessed his crime,” he added.

The accused, Shubham, fabricated a narrative claiming that after visiting a nearby shrine, he, his wife, and their 1.5-year-old child were traveling to her maternal home on Saturday in a car. He alleged that three assailants on two motorcycles began hurling stones at them. As a result, he purportedly lost consciousness after being struck by a stone. Subsequently, the accused attempted to snatch the pregnant woman’s ‘mangalsutra’, but when she resisted, they reportedly strangled her in front of her 1.5-year-old child before fleeing the scene.

The court highlighted the “legal loopholes” that hinder a woman who remarries without divorcing her previous husband from seeking maintenance under Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Justice Prem Narayan Singh, presiding over the high court bench, remarked that despite the provision’s aim to promote social justice, it falls short in preventing the exploitation it aims to address.

“This Court finds it unfortunate that many women, specially those belonging to the poorer strata of society, are routinely exploited in this manner, and that legal loopholes allow the offending parties to slip away unscathed and unquestioned,” the court stated.

Choudhary Addressed the Media at the Congress Office in Bhopal, “I would say that the Bharatiya Janata Party is a fake party. In 2014, they (BJP) made fake promises like two crore jobs, bringing black money, depositing Rs 15 lakh in people’s bank accounts, reducing LPG cylinders to Rs 200, reducing petrol and diesel prices at Rs a liter, and doubling the income of farmers.
Regarding Union Minister Amit Shah’s assertion about replacing a minister from a region with low voter turnout, Choudhary humorously suggested that the home minister might consider replacing State Health Minister Rajendra Shukla and Deputy Chief Minister Rewa. This region experienced an 11% decline in voter turnout compared to the previous 2019 local elections.

“Yesterday I was watching Amit Shah’s statement, he said that where the voting percentage is less, the minister of that area will be changed. So then I calculated, first Rajendra Shukla will be removed. Yesterday, voting took place in Rewa, and about 49 percent was recorded which was 60 percent during the previous poll. I challenge Amit Shah if you have made this promise, then remove ministers Rajendra Shukla, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh, Sampatiya Uikey, Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Dilip Jaiswal, Lakhan Patel, Narendra Shivaji Patel, Pratima Bagri, Dilip Ahirwar, and Radha Singh. The list of these ministers has revealed that there is a downfall in voter turnout reported in their areas. </excerpt>

The customary festival of Rangpanchami Ger was observed in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav participating in the festivities on Saturday.

The Rangpanchami Ger festival, occurring on the fifth day following Holi, sees people applying colors and gulal on one another. They also utilize water tankers to spray gulal and colors, celebrating the occasion with immense fervor and grandeur.

As per reports, this is a 75-year-old custom in the city. Previously, individuals would ride bullock carts through the Rajwada area, spreading colors as they traversed the city. Nowadays, the use of water tankers and motor pumps to sprinkle colors has become more prevalent.

The ‘Ger’ yatra commenced from the Nursing Market areas of old city Indore, proceeding towards the Rajwada area. Thousands of individuals joined the procession, walking alongside the ‘Ger’ throughout the journey. The large crowd gathered at Rajwada also partook in the festivities, getting soaked in colors. People were observed carrying packets of colors and color sprinklers in their hands.

This year, CM Mohan Yadav also took part in the Ger procession, which commenced from the Nursing market area.

“It is a years-old tradition of Indore and over 75 years have been passed to organise ‘Ger’ on the occasion of Rangpanachami. Today, I am happy that I am participating in this Ger. I extend my greetings to everyone on the occasion,” CM told reporters here.

Meanwhile, the Indore district administration has ensured comprehensive security arrangements for the festival and deployed an ample number of police personnel to oversee its smooth conduct. Additionally, police forces from neighboring areas have also been summoned to assist during the occasion.

The police and district administration have established a temporary control room at Rajwada, where the entire area is being monitored via CCTV cameras and drones.

</excerpt>

BJP leader Vivek Bunty Sahu submitted his nomination papers for the Chhindwara parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, BJP state president VD Sharma, along with state cabinet ministers Kailash Vijayvargiya and Prahlad Patel, were also in attendance during the event.

Following the nomination, CM Mohan Yadav addressed the media, expressing confidence that the BJP was poised to secure victory in all 29 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

“We have resolved to win all the 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state. in the 2019 elections, we fell short by just one seat as we lost Chhindwara. However, the BJP, this time, go past 400 seats across the country and will bag all 29 in Madhya Pradesh. We have to make Congress nau-do-gyarah (disappear) from here,” CM Yadav said.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister expressed optimism about securing victory in the Chhindwara parliamentary seat, noting that the Congress stronghold has embraced ‘Modimay’ (enamoured of PM Modi).

“Today’s the last day to tender the nomination papers for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. I am travelling to Chhindwara, Balaghat and Jabalpur. I hope the BJP will win handsomely in these regions. During my visits to Chhindwara, I have sensed the public mood. It has become ‘Modimay’,” he said.

Chhindwara stands as the lone constituency in the state where the Congress secured a win in the previous Lok Sabha elections. Former chief minister Kamal Nath’s son, Nakul Nath, emerged victorious in this constituency.

The Congress has repeated him from the seat this year.

Nakul Nath submitted his nomination papers for the Chhindwara constituency in the presence of his father, Kamal Nath.

After filing his nomination, Nakul Nath told ANI, “I have full faith that the people of Chhindwara will once again shower their love and blessings on me again.”

Kamal Nath also expressed his unwavering trust in the people of Chhindwara, emphasizing that his connection with them goes beyond politics.

“I have full faith that the people of Chhindwara will yet again stand with the truth. My ties with the people of Chhindwara are more familial than political,” Kamal Nath said.

Chhindwara, along with five other parliamentary constituencies in the state—Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, and Balaghat—will go to the polls in the first phase of the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections on April 19.

</excerpt>

Police department authorities in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh conducted a ‘lottery’ to assign recently recruited constables to different police stations throughout the region, which is an excellent initiative to showcase transparency.

A total of 57 police officers—41 men and 16 women—were assigned to various police stations on Friday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Sanghi told ANI, “We had 57 newly recruited constables, including males and females, from different Police Training Academies in our district to be posted in different police stations according to the vacancies. The constables were called to the police control room in the district, and they picked slips of police stations on their own.”

“The initiative has been taken to give them (constables) a message that postings have been done transparently and not based on any kind of recommendations. They were also advised that if they perform better in the future, they will get better postings,” he added.

The police constables appeared pleased with their postings and praised SP Sanghi’s efforts.

“A unique and commendable initiative was taken by the SP. Usually, people put in jack and recommendations for posting in police stations, but the Superintendent of Police did not do so. Without any prior approval and without discrimination, a token slip was made, and maintaining transparency from everyone, one slip each was issued, according to which the police station was allotted to us,” the constables said.

“We have taken out our slips and posted ourselves in the police station. We all are very happy,” they said.

They went on to say that the entire nation, not just Madhya Pradesh, ought to adopt this ‘lottery system’ kind of initiative.

</excerpt>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his criticism of the Congress during a rally in Madhya Pradesh, asserting that the party, if elected, would “reverse the development journey” in the state. Drawing a parallel with a vehicle’s reverse gear that moves backward, PM Modi accused the Congress of being adept at reversing progress. He cautioned against falling for Congress’ grand promises, suggesting that they often conceal unfavorable intentions.

In Satna, PM Modi emphasized that Congress couldn’t ensure development and bluntly stated, “Congress aayi, tabahi laayi (Congress came, brought with it destruction).” He asserted that the party lacked a concrete roadmap for Madhya Pradesh’s development, highlighting the skepticism among the state’s youth regarding Congress’ ability to deliver progress.

PM Modi’s recent rallies have significantly boosted the BJP’s campaign in Madhya Pradesh, where the assembly polls are scheduled for November 17. In contrast, the Congress is actively working to challenge the BJP’s hold on the state. The vote count for Madhya Pradesh and four other states is slated for December 3. The Prime Minister urged voters to repose faith in the BJP, portraying Congress as a party with a reverse gear and questionable commitments to development.
