This love for mangoes is also reflected in specific celebrations such as the Mango Festival that takes place yearly in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where there is an exquisite display of various mango varieties.

Yearly, the same fairs are conducted across India, showcasing not only the amazing variety of the country’s mangoes, but also local pride, agricultural heritage, and the country’s shared passion for the fruit.

From Celebration to Chaos

Yet this year’s Lucknow festival made headlines and social media buzz for some that were anything but festive. What was meant to be a festive celebration turned unexpected when mobs grew rowdy, with individuals spotted wildly ‘looting’ mangoes. Partygoers filled the fruit into bags, clothes, and whatever else they could find.

A video of the chaos has since gone viral, sharing fast on platforms. Based on reports, the gleeful crowd soon lost all decorum, disregarding the event’s propriety to pick up mangoes in a chaotic frenzy. The clip clearly depicts individuals scooping up mangoes as if there were no rules to follow.

The online viral video has produced a combination of responses. Although there were social media users who found the situation amusing, others were much more vitriolic. One commenter directly noted, “These are the same people who’d steal your vehicle and jewellery if you had an accident rather than provide you with first aid.”

While he was already a social media sensation, his popularity went through the roof after he served Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates a cup of tea, making him an overnight internet sensation. Now, in a generation where content creators tend to copy styles, it seems Dolly Chaiwala has some rivalry.

A viral clip on social media is of a tea vendor dressed to the minute like Dolly Chaiwala. Wearing a hot pink top, beige waistcoat and matching trousers, the seller also copied Dolly’s gold chains, watch bracetlet, highlighted locks, and colorful shades.

As the video goes on, a group of people form around his stand to observe him mimic Dolly’s peculiar style of pouring milk into the container. The shop, Yadav Lassi Bhandar, is located in Lucknow. “I am Lucknow’s Dolly Chaiwala,” the seller announces in the video. The video later went viral, entertaining people on social media.

Who Is Shubhanshu Shukla?

Born in Lucknow in 1986, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is a seasoned fighter pilot serving in the Indian Air Force. Commissioned in the Air Force in 2006 after graduating from the elite National Defence Academy (NDA), he has flown thousands of hours of high-performance jets.

One of the few chosen astronauts to be part of ISRO’s next Gaganyaan mission in 2027, Shukla received exhaustive astronaut training in Russia and the United States. He was trained in orbital mechanics, emergency procedures, and scientific experimentation in microgravity. Shukla is widely known for his composed demeanor and technical expertise, representing the new breed of Indian space explorers.

About the Axiom-4 Mission

No Helmet, No Fuel: Lucknow to Enforce Helmet Rule from January 26

The Lucknow district administration has issued a directive instructing petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh’s capital to deny fuel to motorists and pillion riders without helmets starting January 26. This is part of the state government’s “No Helmet, No Fuel” policy aimed at reducing road fatalities from two-wheeler accidents.

An order to this effect was released by Lucknow District Magistrate (DM) Surya Pal Gangwar on Monday, as reported by PTI.

“The move aligns with the Uttar Pradesh Transport Commissioner’s directive issued on January 8. It is imperative to raise awareness about road safety and address deaths caused due to the non-use of helmets,” the notice stated.

“It will be mandatory for two-wheeler riders and passengers to wear protective headgear conforming to BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) as per Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Rule 201 of the Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, 1998,” it added.

According to the directive, petrol stations have a seven-day deadline to set up large signboards to highlight the new policy.

To avoid potential disputes, the directive also specifies that pump owners must ensure their CCTV systems are operational.

More than 24,000 killed in road accidents in 2022 in UP: Data

According to data referenced by Uttar Pradesh Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh, a significant number of two-wheeler fatalities involve riders and passengers not wearing helmets.

In 2022, the state officially reported 36,875 road accidents, resulting in 24,109 deaths and 21,696 injuries, according to central government figures.

Lucknow accounted for 1,408 of these incidents, with 643 fatalities and 994 individuals injured.

Five Family Members, Including Two Minors, Murdered in Lucknow; Suspect Detained

Five members of a family, including two minors, were found murdered at Hotel Sharanjit in Lucknow’s Naka area early Wednesday, as reported. The accused, identified as 24-year-old Arshad, has been arrested at the crime scene.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Central Lucknow, Raveena Tyagi, the victims included Arshad’s mother, Asma, and his sisters: Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), and Rahmeen (18).

The police suspect the murders were the result of domestic disputes. Arshad, originally from Agra, has been detained by local authorities. Forensic teams are collecting evidence from the scene, and a thorough investigation is underway.

Lucknow: Congress Worker Dies Amid Vidhan Sabha ‘Gherao’ Protest

A Congress worker died during the party’s protest near the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday. State Congress chief Ajay Rai alleged that the death was a result of “police brutality.”

The deceased, identified as 28-year-old Prabhat Pandey from Gorakhpur, was the subject of an FIR registered at the Husainganj police station under Section 103 of BNS, police said. The case was filed based on a complaint by Pandey’s family, who stated that he had no pre-existing health conditions.

Raveena Tyagi, DCP Central Lucknow, stated that initial medical reports showed no signs of injury. “Today, at around 5 pm, a person named Prabhat Pandey s/o Deepak Pandey, aged 28, resident of Gorakhpur, was brought to the Civil Hospital from the Congress office in an unconscious state. The doctors declared him brought dead. Prima facie, as per the doctors, there are no signs of injury on him,” she said.

She added, “The post-mortem will be videographed. Further action would be taken after that.”

Despite the preliminary findings, UP Congress chief Ajay Rai held the state police responsible for the incident and demanded financial compensation for the family. “Today, while going to gherao the assembly, our young colleague Prabhat Pandey ji passed away due to police brutality. This incident is extremely sad and condemnable,” Rai wrote in a post on X.

“Our Congress family is hurt and angry by this accident. We will not tolerate this incident at all. The Yogi government should give financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased and a government job to one member of the family as compensation,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the police detained Ajay Rai and several other Congress leaders during the protest. Addressing the media, Rai criticized the government for its treatment of party workers.

“Our party workers are standing here, and they will protest against the atrocities done by the Yogi govt. The kind of atrocities this government is doing against the farmers and women will not be tolerated by the Congress workers,” Rai said.

You may think the beggar you’re helping is poor and helpless, but they might actually be wealthier than you. Surprising findings from a campaign and survey aimed at addressing begging in Lucknow revealed that some beggars have more money in their bank accounts than many employed individuals and live in decent houses.

This revelation came during a survey conducted by the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA), the Municipal Corporation, and the Social Welfare Department, which identified 5,312 beggars in Lucknow. A special campaign is now underway to connect these individuals with government benefits and help them integrate into mainstream society by filling out forms and obtaining Aadhar cards.

Earns Up To 1 Lakh

The survey indicated that women tend to earn the most from begging. Pregnant women, often seen begging with small children, can earn up to Rs. 3,000 daily, while older individuals and children make between Rs. 900 and Rs. 2,000. Additionally, many receive free food, clothing, and other essentials. Based on these figures, officials estimate that Lucknow residents collectively donate over Rs. 63 lakh in alms to beggars every day.

Notably, a female beggar reported having six children and being pregnant again, claiming that her earnings can reach Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 90,000 monthly, as she receives more donations when pregnant.

This situation suggests that begging has shifted from a necessity to a profession. DDA project officer Saurabh Tripathi stated that he has spent considerable time observing the begging community and found that only a small percentage beg out of genuine necessity. Around 10 percent of beggars are professionals who travel from places like Hardoi, Barabanki, Sitapur, and Rae Bareli.

Lucknow: ED Seizes Real Estate Broker’s Assets Worth Rs 14.89 Crore Under PMLA

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Lucknow has provisionally attached immovable assets worth approximately Rs 14.89 crore in a case involving real estate broker Rajeev Tyagi and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, as per a press release issued on Monday.

The attached assets include various immovable properties such as flats, commercial shops, and residential and industrial plots. These properties are registered under the names of Rajeev Tyagi, his sons Amartya Raj Tyagi and Kanishk Raj Tyagi, and businesses like M/s SKT Garments Private Limited and M/s SK Enterprises. Rajeev Tyagi is also a partner in M/s Sai Construction and Builders.

The ED launched its investigation based on an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, which charged M/s Sai Construction and Builders, Ghaziabad, its partners, and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, in connection with an alleged loan fraud.

According to the release, the ED’s probe revealed that Rajeev Tyagi, along with his wife Meenu Tyagi, through their partnership firm M/s Sai Construction and Builders, Ghaziabad, engaged in a “criminal conspiracy” with associates and guarantors. They reportedly secured loans and financial facilities from Corporation Bank (now Union Bank of India following its merger) by submitting forged documents and inflated valuation reports of mortgaged properties, intending to deceive the bank.

The investigation further disclosed that the loans and financial facilities obtained from the bank were allegedly layered, diverted, or siphoned off through the accounts of Tyagi or those of his associates and entities. The funds were then used for purposes other than what was intended, leading to a default on loan repayments and significant losses for the public sector bank.

The ED stated that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Building Collapse In Lucknow: 1 Dead And Several Trapped In 3-Storey Structure

A 3-storey building in Transport Nagar area of Lucknow collapsed on Saturday afternoon killing one and leaving around ten people feared trapped. The incident occurred at around 5 pm when work was underway in its basement. The Harmilap Building houses pharmaceutical storage facilities. Thirteen people were injured and admitted to hospital.

A woman recounted a frightening experience at a cafe in Lucknow on Reddit, alleging that a waiter locked the doors after she and her friend entered. They had an unsettling feeling about the place and managed to escape when the situation felt increasingly ominous.

The woman described how she and her friend visited SRS City Mall in Lucknow and, unable to find coffee inside the mall, decided to try a nearby cafe. She noted that the cafe seemed “shady” and gave off “really weird vibes.” She wrote, “The guy who greeted us gave us a pretty creepy smile. We peeked in through the door and it was so dark, absolutely no bright lights. Just those dim aesthetic lights which serve no purpose whatsoever. And the place reeked of hukka. As they took a few steps inside, the waiter reportedly bolted the door behind them. She recalled, “Gosh we were so scared. I immediately turned back, opened the door and both of us just ran outside. We kept hitting the lift call button but that stupid lift was stuck again. The waiter said, ‘Madam kahan jaa rhi hain aaiye baithiye toh kya dikkat hui?’ (Ma’am where are you going? Tell me the issue).”

Lucknow Doctor Loses Rs 2.8 Crores To ‘Digital Arrest’ Scam

On Wednesday, the Lucknow cyber crime branch filed a complaint after a doctor was swindled out of Rs 2.8 crores by scammers impersonating Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) officials.

The victim, Ruchika Tandon, who was employed at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, was held under ‘digital arrest’ by the scammers for six days. They falsely implicated her in a money laundering case, during which time the money was transferred to seven different accounts.

Upon realising she was being scammed, the victim filed an FIR with the Lucknow cyber crime branch. Following this, a case was registered, and the police have initiated an investigation.

Speaking to ANI, Raveena Tyagi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, said, “On the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered in the cyber crime police station. She has been duped of about Rs 2.8 crore by threatening digital arrest. This fraud has been done by introducing themselves as officers of TRAI and CBI. In this, a case has been registered immediately and further action will be taken soon.”

Discussing ways to protect oneself from such incidents, Tyagi said, “I want to appeal to the public that if you receive a call from any unknown number and such a threat is found, please inform the nearest police station. Any kind of digital arrest is not valid, such a thing does not happen, so please be aware and stay safe.”

Delhi Rains Cause Flight Diversions At IGI Airport

New Delhi, Jul 31: Heavy rains in the national capital led to at least 10 flights being diverted from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Wednesday evening.

An official reported that the flights were diverted after 19:30 hours due to bad weather. Out of the 10 flights, eight were redirected to Jaipur and two to Lucknow. The heavy rains in Delhi also resulted in waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas.

On social media platform X, airlines informed passengers that flights might be affected due to the bad weather.

Vistara announced that flight UK998 from Pune to Delhi was diverted to Lucknow due to the weather conditions at the Delhi airport.

Air India advised passengers to start early for the airport, warning of potential delays due to slow traffic and waterlogging. “Flights to and from Delhi may get affected due to bad weather this evening,” the airline stated.

SpiceJet also alerted passengers, saying, “Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected.”

IndiGo shared a light-hearted post on X, announcing, “We have a special announcement straight from the heavenly skies! The rain gods have decided to shower #Delhi with their blessings tonight. As a result, we’re expecting heavy rainfall throughout the night,” and asked passengers to check their flight status.

Passengers traveling to and from Delhi are advised to stay updated on flight statuses and allow extra travel time to the airport due to potential delays caused by the weather.

17-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Shoots Dead Uncle And Aunt

Lucknow police have detained a 17-year-old youth for allegedly shooting to death his maternal uncle and aunt and injuring their son during a “family dispute” on Tuesday night, as reported by police on Wednesday.

According to police, the incident unfolded when his maternal uncle, reportedly intoxicated, engaged in an argument with his mother. The maternal uncle and aunt had allegedly been pressuring him and his mother to vacate the house for the past few years, stated an officer.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, Abijith R Shankar, stated, “We have detained the boy and are interrogating him. He will be presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. We are still in the process of recovering the weapon used in the crime.”

The dead couple’s 29-year-old son, who got a gunshot injury, is presently being treated at a hospital, where doctors say his status is stable.

The boy’s maternal uncle, aged 64, was a retired government official.

NSG Team To Enhance Security In Ayodhya For Ram Temple

A team of National Security Guards (NSG) officials, accompanied by commandos, is set to begin a four-day visit to Ayodhya starting Wednesday. Their mission includes initiating plans for establishing an NSG hub in the city and evaluating security arrangements for the newly constructed Ram temple, as confirmed by senior district administration and police officials on Tuesday.

The NSG team is expected to conduct mock drills in collaboration with local police and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to enhance preparedness and reduce response times during potential security threats. This initiative marks the establishment of the first NSG response center in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at bolstering security capabilities in the state, officials added.

Earlier in June, the central government announced plans to set up NSG units in Ayodhya, Pathankot, and Kerala. The Ayodhya unit is slated to become operational by the year’s end, supplementing local law enforcement and CAPF units in ensuring enhanced security measures.

Praveen Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Ayodhya range, affirmed that the NSG team’s agenda includes assessing threat perceptions and evaluating the current security infrastructure surrounding the Ram temple. Meetings are anticipated between NSG authorities and local security agencies, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and UP Special Security Force (UPSSF), to devise a comprehensive security strategy against potential threats from various extremist factions targeting the temple.

An official from the Ayodhya district administration disclosed that the NSG has applied for land allocation from the district magistrate’s office to establish their operational hub by year-end.

The upcoming NSG unit in Ayodhya will be equipped with specialized weaponry and anti-drone technology. Once operational, this new hub, along with others planned across the country, will expand the NSG’s presence to eight regional centers. Presently, NSG hubs are located in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Gandhinagar, strategically chosen based on threat assessments and proximity to sensitive areas.

UP: BJP To Conduct State Working Committee Meeting In Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh wing of BJP is set to conduct a state working committee meeting at Lucknow on sunday morning.

This meeting is being held, when BJP has received lesser seats than expected at Lok sabha polls.

The meeting will be held at Lohia Auditorium from 11.00 am to 5:00 pm. BJP president JP Nadda is set to attend the state committee meeting. The meeting will be presided by party’s state president Bhupendra Chaudhary.

Afterward, it will end by a speech from National President JP Nadda. In addition, UP’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath will talk to the committee before party’s national president.

This committee will be split into two sessions, and it will conclude on a political proposal.

This aforementioned political proposal will consist of discussions on future by-elections for 10 seats, examination of Lok sabha elections and future plan following electoral loss.

All the party delegates will be included in the working committee. Meanwhile, besides JP Nadda, state president, state organization general secretary, CM Yogi Adityanath, along with two deputy CM and central ministers from UP will attend the meeting.

In addition, 33 MPs & MLAs along with office bearers of organization, party and the fronts will also be there.

In the working committee, the mandal presidents, district presidents, Regional Presidents, District head and party’s generals secretaries will also be present.

UP: Fire Engulfs Transformer At Lucknow, No Casualties Reported

Lucknow: SSF Personnel Outside Ram Temple Dies From Gunshot

A senior police officer reported that a 25-year-old member of the UP Special Security Force (SSF), assigned to guard the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, passed away from a gunshot wound. Around 5:30 in the morning, the event occurred while the deceased was stationed at the gate alongside two other security personnel.

His two colleagues, who were present at the scene, informed the police that they had last seen him engrossed in watching a video on his mobile phone. They mentioned that at the time of the incident, they had their backs turned towards him, unaware of what was happening.

Praveen Kumar, the Inspector General of Police for the Ayodhya range, stated that Shatrughan Vishwakarma had been assigned duty at the VIP gate of Koteshwar Temple, which is approximately 150 meters away from the recently built Ram Temple.

Kumar said, “They said they turned around on hearing a gunshot and saw Shatrughan slumped on the ground.” He mentioned that the individual had a gunshot wound to the forehead.

Kumar stated, “Other security personnel deployed there rushed him to a local hospital where he was declared, brought dead.” The senior police officer remarked that it remained uncertain whether the gunshot was accidental or intentional.

The forensic team was urgently summoned to examine the crime scene, analyzing every detail to unravel the precise sequence of events and uncover the truth behind what transpired.

The Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UP SSF), established in 2021 and modeled after the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has deployed one of its six battalions to ensure the security of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, where they have been stationed for the past 18 months.

As temperatures rise in various parts of India, an unusual theft incident unfolded in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In a state of intoxication, a thief broke into a house with the intention to rob, but ended up falling asleep in a room with an air conditioner.

The incident occurred early on Sunday in Lucknow’s Indiranagar area. Upon finding the house empty, the thief broke in, stole valuables, and then took a break in the air-conditioned room, where he eventually fell asleep. Alerted by the open front gate, neighbors contacted the owner of the house, who was in Varanasi at the time.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered the thief asleep in the air-conditioned room, holding a mobile phone in his right hand, as seen in a viral photo. The thief has been arrested and charged under IPC section 379 A.

It was reported that the thief attempted to steal a washbasin, water pump, gas cylinder, and cash from the cupboards.

In a separate strange incident in Ujjaini village, Uttar Pradesh, a 164-foot-tall mobile tower was stolen in 2023. The tower, weighing over 10 tonnes and valued at Rs 8.5 lakh, went missing. Earlier this year, an entire pond was stolen in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, which was publicly owned and maintained for fishing and other activities.

In another unusual theft, a 60-foot bridge disappeared in just three days in Rohtas district, Bihar. Thieves used JCBs and gas cutters to dismantle the bridge.

In a bizarre incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital, a burglar who broke into a house with intentions of theft ended up falling asleep under the cool breeze of the air conditioner. The man, part of a group of burglars, was left behind by his accomplices when he couldn’t be roused from his deep slumber.

Reports indicate that a gang of burglars targeted a residence in Sector 20 of Indira Nagar, belonging to a government employee stationed in Varanasi. They began looting the house of valuables.

The particular burglar, possibly under the influence of an intoxicant, attempted to move an inverter but decided to rest instead, turning on the air conditioner in the room. Unaware, he drifted into a deep sleep.

Despite efforts by his cohorts to awaken him, he remained in a state of deep slumber. The next morning, neighbors discovered the open gates and missing items, alerting the police.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found a significant amount of stolen goods and were surprised to find the burglar asleep.

Upon waking, the burglar was taken aback to find police waiting for him and confessed to his actions. He was promptly arrested.

Authorities are conducting an ongoing investigation and are confident of apprehending the other burglars involved in the incident.
