</excerpt>

The historic city of Janakpur in Nepal commemorated the first anniversary of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Lord Ram Lalla’s idol at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir on January 11, 2025. The celebration was marked by lighting an astonishing 1.25 lakh lamps, symbolizing devotion and unity.

Organized by the Dhanusha chapter of Bishwo Hindu Parisad Nepal, the event included mesmerizing Jhaki, sacred Hawan, a vibrant Ganga Aarti, and an elaborate rangoli at the Janaki Temple. Ashutosh Jha, national spokesperson of Janaki Sena, highlighted the meticulous arrangements for the grand festivities, saying,

“This year, like the last, we celebrated with lamps, aarti, and rangoli to honor this sacred occasion.”

Festivities in Nepal and Ayodhya

In Ayodhya, the spiritual capital of Lord Ram, the day was equally grand. The Mahabhishek ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple drew thousands of devotees. Rituals began early with Agnihotra performed twice, followed by the chanting of six lakh Shri Ram Mantras and recitation of sacred texts like Ram Raksha Stotra and Hanuman Chalisa.

Later in the day, cultural activities, including ‘Rag Seva’ and devotional songs, were held at the temple. Musical recitations of Ramcharitmanas added to the fervor.

A Year of Milestones for Ram Mandir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on January 22, 2024. Since then, the temple has seen an overwhelming response, with over 2 lakh devotees visiting on the first day of 2024 alone.

Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra confirmed that the temple complex is progressing rapidly, with completion expected by mid-2025. Misra added,

“January marks an important month for Ayodhya, with the anniversary celebrations and upcoming Maha Kumbh attracting large crowds.”

A Symbol of Unity and Faith

The festivities in Janakpur and Ayodhya signify the cultural and spiritual bond between India and Nepal, reflecting the shared devotion to Lord Ram. As Chief Mahant of Janaki Temple Ram Tapeshwor Das remarked,

“Our happiness knows no bounds as we celebrate this historic moment together.”

Sivasankar made the remarks during an event celebrating Chola emperor Rajendra Chola’s birth anniversary in Ariyalur.

Sivasankar’s Statement

DMK’s sudden obsession with Bhagwan Shri Ram is truly a sight to behold—who would’ve thought?

Just last week, DMK’s Law Minister Thiru Raghupathy avl declared that Bhagwan Shri Ram was the ultimate champion of social justice, the pioneer of secularism, and the one who proclaimed… pic.twitter.com/z8or4AQQML

— K.Annamalai (@annamalai_k) August 2, 2024

Sivasankar asserted, “We have evidence and historical records of Rajendra Chola, including ponds he constructed, temples he built, and mentions in scripts and artefacts. However, there is no historical record or evidence for Lord Ram’s existence. Describing Ram as an avatar is an attempt to manipulate history and present it as superior to our own.”

BJP’s Criticism

The BJP quickly condemned Sivasankar’s comments. Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai criticized the DMK for what he described as a sudden and inconsistent stance on Lord Ram. Annamalai highlighted a recent statement by DMK’s Law Minister Thiru Raghupathy, who had praised Lord Ram as a champion of social justice and secularism.

In his response, Annamalai accused the DMK of selectively remembering history, noting their previous opposition to the installation of the Chola Dynasty Sengol in the new Parliament Complex. He suggested that DMK leaders should reconcile their views on historical figures and advised Sivasankar to learn more about Lord Ram from his party colleague.

The exchange has intensified the ongoing political debate in Tamil Nadu, drawing sharp lines between the DMK and BJP over interpretations of history and cultural heritage.

</excerpt>

RSS leader Indresh Kumar delivered pointed comments on the Lok Sabha election results, criticizing the ruling BJP for arrogance and the opposition INDIA bloc for being “anti-Ram”.

Speaking at an event near Jaipur, Kumar indirectly addressed both parties, emphasizing the BJP’s impressive 240 seats in the Lok Sabha while cautioning against arrogance that hindered further success.

“And those who had no faith in Ram, they together were stopped at 234,” he said, referring to the INDIA bloc.

“See the ‘Vidhan’ of Ram Rajya in democracy; those who did ‘Bhakti (worshipped) of Ram but gradually turned arrogant, that party emerged as the biggest party, but the vote and power that should have been given was stopped by God due to their arrogance,” he further said.

“Those who opposed Ram, none of them was given power. Even all of them together were made number two. God’s justice is true and enjoyable,” he added.

“Those who worship Ram should be humble and those who oppose Ram, the Lord himself dealt with them,” he said.

He said Lord Ram does not discriminate and does not punish. “Ram does not make anyone lament. Ram gives justice to everyone. He gives and will keep on giving. Lord Ram was always just and will remain so,” he said.
Kumar also said Lord Ram protected people and did good to Ravana too.

These remarks came shortly after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat declared that a true ‘sevak’ should serve people without arrogance and maintain dignity.

Discussing the upcoming Ramlila event in Delhi, where Ashutosh Rana will be portraying Ravana, he invited art enthusiasts to witness the play at Kamani Auditorium, marking a significant return to the theater. Rana shared the excitement of returning to the same venue where he performed his last play during his National School of Drama years in 1994.

Addressing the distinction between theater and cinema, Ashutosh Rana likened theater to training, where artists are prepared, and cinema to a stage for performance. He emphasized the importance of training, expressing his belief in learning before performing, in contrast to those who enter cinema without formal training.

When questioned about the essence of Lord Ram, Ashutosh Rana drew a parallel between Ravana and Lord Ram, both being devotees of Shiva. He highlighted the difference in their desires, with Ravana driven by worldly aspirations and Lord Ram embodying profound emotions. Rana underscored the importance of belief in both Lord Ram and in oneself, suggesting that aligning one’s life with these principles would lead to spiritual growth akin to Shiva’s grace.

</excerpt>

The trust overseeing construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has shared the first images of the temple’s main entrance, known as the Sinh Dwar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver an address during the upcoming inauguration ceremony from this front door.

The trust posted pictures of the “Magnificent Sinh Dwar of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir” on their official social media account. The pillars and walls of the entrance are exquisitely carved with figures of deities, gods and goddesses. The main eastern entrance leads to the shrine via 32 stairs, with ramps and lifts also provided for accessibility.

A rectangular boundary wall measuring 732 meters long and 14 feet wide, called the Parkota, surrounds the temple complex. Four smaller temples inside the boundary wall are dedicated to the sun god Surya, the goddess Devi Bhagwati, elephant-headed god Ganesh and god Shiva. A temple of the goddess Annapurna is located in the north, and a temple of monkey god Hanuman is in the south.

Near the main temple is an historic well, believed to date back to ancient times, known as the Sita koop. The Ram Janmbhoomi complex will also include proposed temples for the sage Valmiki, Vasishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya, Nishad Raj, and goddess Shabri.

In the southwest part of the complex, the ancient temple of god Shiva has been restored at Kuber Tila, along with an installation of the mythical bird Jatayu. No iron was used in the temple’s construction. A 21-foot high granite plinth provides protection against ground moisture.

The temple’s foundation was built with a 14-meter thick layer of roller-compacted concrete, giving the appearance of an artificial rock. Facilities like a sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, fire safety water supply and independent power station have been included.

A Pilgrims’ Facility Center with a 25,000 person capacity is also under construction, and will provide medical services as well as locker facilities for devotees and visitors. The complex will have separate bathing areas, washrooms and open taps for pilgrims.
The shrine was constructed entirely using traditional Indian techniques and materials. Emphasis was placed on environmental conservation, with 70% of the 70 acre area remaining green space.

</excerpt>

An idol of Lord Ram in his child-like form (Ram Lalla) will be installed in the pure white Makrana marble sanctum sanctorum of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya next month, the temple trust informed on Wednesday.

Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, Champat Rai said that a 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram reflecting a five-year-old child –Ram Lalla– would be selected among three designs. “The one which has the best divineness and will display a child look will be selected,” he said.
Champat Rai, while describing the map of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple said that a total of 21-22 lakh cubic feet of stone has been used in the construction of the entire structure. “Such a big stone structure would not have been built in Northern India even in the last 100-200 years, not even in the South,” he said.

“A foundation of 56-layered artificial rock, created by engineers, has been laid below the structure. Second, a plinth comprising 17,000 granite blocks from Karnataka and Telangana has been laid up to 21 feet above the ground. Around five lakh cubic feet of pink colour sandstone from Bharatpur, Rajasthan have been used to construct the temple structure. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is made up of pure white Makrana marble, which is ready,” he told reporters here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22. Preparations are underway in full swing for the event, which will draw dignitaries and people from all walks of life.
The trust secretary said that the temple is being constructed on the northern part of the 70-acre land, handed over to Hindus by Supreme Court in 2019.

“Three-storeyed temple is being built here. Work for the ground floor of the temple is complete, the first floor is under construction. The temple is enclosed by a four-cornered wall –Prakara — with a running length of nearly 750 metres,” Rai said.
He said that the uniqueness of the wall protecting the temple is that it is 14 feet wide.
“The Prakara will also be double-storeyed, with devotees to be allowed to do the Parikrama (circumambulation) of the temple on the upper floor,” he said.
The Prakara is under construction and may take upto 6-8 months more, Rai added.

Briefing about the facilities for the pilgrims visiting the temple he said, “Locker facilities for 25,000 pilgrims have been made at Pilgrimage Facility Centre (PFC). A small hospital will also be built near the PFC. A huge complex has also been made for the pilgrims for toilets and other facilities, two sewer treatment plants are also being made here where the waste material from this complex will be treated.”

He asserted that the government will construct hospitals, schools, set up industries, and also build temples.

Singh was speaking at a conclave on a day when Ram Navami was being celebrated across the country. “When it came to the construction of the Ram temple, a lot of people started giving their thoughts on it. Some people suggested that a hospital be built at the site, while others said a school could be built. Some even suggested that an industry could be set up. These were the people who do not understand Lord Ram or have not embraced him,” he said. “Lord Ram is not merely an embodiment in stone, wood, or soil; he is the center of our culture and faith,” he said.

In his address, the defence minister also noted that the northeast has come closer to Delhi and the dil’ (heart) of people due to the center’s efforts. Today, there is “unprecedented peace” in the northeast due to the fact that AFSPA has been removed from various parts of the region, he said.

Singh added, ” ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ is not merely a slogan but has become a people’s movement. As the defence minister, I can say that today women, becoming a part of the armed forces, are further strengthening it. They are flying fighter jets as fighter pilots. Recently, I approved the induction of women in the artillery,” he said. “With the participation of women in the armed forces, we are moving ahead together in the direction of women’s empowerment and the strengthening of the armed forces,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for calling him “Ravana” in Kalol town of Panchmahal district.

Addressing the public in a rally in Kalol town of Panchmahal district in poll-bound Gujarat PM Modi said, “I respect Kharge Ji. He will say what he has been told to say. Congress party doesn’t know that this is the Gujarat of Ram Bhakts. In this land of Rambhakts, he was asked to call me a Ravan with 100 heads.”

Firing a fresh salvo PM Modi said, Congress does not accept Lord Ram’s existence that’s why they brought Ravan from Ramayan to abuse him.

“We know that Congress does not accept the existence of Lord Ram, and does not believe in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir. They have a problem with Ram Setu as well. Now, this Congress party has brought Ravan from Ramayan to speak insults about me,” PM Modi said.

Meanwhile, targeting Congress PM Modi said, Congress leaders never regretted the numerous cases of abuse they heaped on him.

PM Modi further said, “I am not surprised at Congress saying bad things about me. I am amazed that even after saying so many bad things, neither the Congress party nor its leaders have ever regretted it. They feel it is their right to abuse Modi and the PM of this country.”

PM Modi further said to please one family Congress leaders can do anything, “If they believed in democracy, they would have never gone to this level. They believe in one family and not democracy. They can do anything to please that one family and that family is everything to them, not democracy.”

“There is a competition in Congress on who says more bad words for Modi…We have to teach them a lesson and the way is to press the button on Lotus on the 5th (second phase of Gujarat elections),” PM Modi said.

“The Congress should note that the more dirt it throws on me, the more the lotus will bloom,” PM further said.

During a poll campaigning for the Party in the Behrampura area of Ahmedabad Party, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge at a rally said, “In all these campaigns, he (Modi) only talks about himself. ‘Don’t look at anyone else, just look at Modi and vote’… how many times do we have to see your face? How many forms do you have? Do you have 100 heads like Ravan?”

Moreover, on 5 December the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly election will be held. Amid tight security arrangements, the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly election polling has begun.

However, in 89 constituencies spread across 19 districts of Kutch, Saurashtra, and South Gujarat the polling is underway. The fate of 788 candidates will be decided by 2,39,76,670 voters.

Furthermore, the results of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections and Gujarat will be declared on the same day 8 December.
