Ex-Bodyguard Of Liam Payne Discusses Rigors Of Protecting Royals

January 3, 2025, 4:32 pm

Ryan Barby, a former Airborne soldier and Afghanistan veteran, has shared his perspective on the different challenges of protecting celebrities and supporting the Royal Family’s security staff at significant events. Barby joined the army at the age of sixteen and has been tasked with protecting well-known figures such as Stormzy, Louis Tomlinson of One Direction, and the late Liam Payne. In an interview with Mirror UK, he disclosed that his work for the royal family—from Queen Elizabeth II’s state burial to her Platinum Jubilee—was a completely other ballgame.

Barby clarified, “High-profile jobs demand you stay alert 24/7,” highlighting the strain of being constantly watched by the world’s media. A simple slip, such as being caught on a phone or losing concentration, would lead to dismissal from the task at hand. Among other jobs, Nottingham native also served the American Secret Service when President Joe Biden was in Edinburgh. When the then Prince Charles honoured him with a military medal for his services while working during Operation Herrick in Afghanistan in 2008, it was the first royal encounter for him.

Discussing his involvement with the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on 19 September 2022, Barby referred to it as “intense but educational”. “It was a unique role assisting many world leaders and their security teams. Watching different tactics employed by different countries is fascinating,” he said. Of course, he would never go into operational detail, but that experience had value and lessons from elite security. Identifying and resolving possible threats was Barby’s primary responsibility as a member of the reaction team during the Queen’s Jubilee, a huge event that drew over a million people.

Beyond obligation, Barby finds personal meaning in his profession. His commitment was demonstrated by his arduous shifts throughout these events, which frequently lasted five nights and at least twelve hours each. “Her Majesty earned immense respect worldwide, and it was evident that day she would be deeply missed,” he stated. His greatest accomplishment, though, is knowing that his work serves as a model for his kids. “No matter how tough it gets, I push through for them,” he said.

Liam Payne’s Death Ruled An Accident: Investigation Finds Drugs In His System

November 10, 2024, 2:34 pm

Authorities in Argentina have ruled out suicide in the tragic death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, confirming that his fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16 was an accident. According to the official investigation, the 31-year-old singer’s death resulted from multiple injuries consistent with a fall from the third-floor balcony.

Toxicology Report Reveals Substance Use

While the cause of death has been determined as a fall, the investigation revealed that Payne had multiple substances in his system at the time. Hotel staff had earlier reported to the police about an “aggressive” man who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol shortly before the incident.

Charges Filed Against Three Individuals

The investigation into Payne’s death has led to charges against three individuals close to the singer. These charges include “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “supply and facilitating the use of narcotics.” However, none of the suspects have been arrested as of yet. They face restrictions, including a prohibition on leaving Argentina. One suspect had a professional relationship with Payne, another was an employee at the hotel, and the third is accused of providing the substances found in Payne’s system.

Liam Payne’s Career and Legacy

Liam Payne was widely known for his time as a member of the immensely successful boy band One Direction. The band rose to fame after their appearance on “The X Factor” in 2010 and became one of the best-selling music acts in history. Three Charged In Connection With Liam Payne’s Death After Fall From Hotel Balcony

November 8, 2024, 3:46 am

Argentinian authorities have charged three individuals in relation to the tragic death of former One Direction singer Liam Payne, who fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last month. Prosecutors confirmed on Thursday that those charged include a close acquaintance of Payne, a hotel employee, and a suspected drug dealer.

Payne, 31, died on October 16 after plummeting from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur hotel, located in the upscale Palermo district. An autopsy revealed that Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. The autopsy also indicated that the singer suffered multiple injuries and internal and external bleeding from the fall. His body was discovered in the hotel’s internal courtyard.

In the investigation, police raided the hotel and seized several items, including hard drives and security camera footage. The charges suggest potential foul play and are part of ongoing efforts to uncover the circumstances leading to Payne’s untimely death.

Why Liam Payne’s Body Remains Still in Argentina Days After His Death?

October 23, 2024, 4:55 pm

Liam Payne’s body remains in Argentina following his tragic death on October 16. An autopsy has been conducted, and toxicology tests are currently underway. His father traveled to Buenos Aires to identify the body and retrieve personal belongings, but questions linger about when it will be repatriated to the United Kingdom.

Dr. Cristian Poletti, a criminal law specialist and university professor, explained to US Weekly that the release of Payne’s body hinges on the toxicology reports, which typically take one to two weeks to complete. She noted that any death suspected of criminality requires thorough investigation, regardless of indications suggesting it was a suicide.

Preliminary autopsy findings indicate that Payne had ingested a mix of substances, including a drug known as pink cocaine, prior to his death. Dr. Poletti emphasized the importance of confirming the autopsy results before the body can be returned to the family.

The procedure for releasing the body involves ensuring no criminal activity is suspected. Dr. Poletti stated that until the toxicology reports are finalized and the cause of death is unequivocally determined, the body will not be released for transport.

If the investigation concludes that there is no suspicion of foul play, she anticipates the body will be released to the family once the toxicology results are available. Only then can arrangements be made for Payne’s return to the UK.

Reports Claims Liam Payne Was Under Powerful Hallucinogenic Drugs Before Tragic Death

October 19, 2024, 12:07 pm

The former One Direction member was reportedly under the influence of dangerous substances at the time of his tragic death.

British singer and former One Direction member Liam Payne, 31, died on October 16 after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities believe Payne had taken powerful hallucinogenic drugs before the fatal incident.

Police reported that Payne had been using “Cristal,” a highly dangerous drug known for causing severe mood swings and aggressive behavior. Toxicology tests on substances and medications found in his hotel room are pending, but officials suspect he was under the influence of multiple drugs when he fell.

Emergency services were called to the hotel after staff described Payne as “an aggressive man overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol.” According to police, Payne jumped from his balcony, leading to his death. When authorities entered his hotel suite, they discovered a chaotic scene with broken objects and various drugs scattered around. Among the substances found were packs of clonazepam, energy supplements, and over-the-counter medications.

Forensic teams also recovered a whiskey bottle, lighter, and cell phone near his body in the courtyard. Investigators noted that the lack of defensive injuries suggested Payne may have been semi-conscious or unconscious when he fell.

Payne had openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse in the past. In a 2021 appearance on “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, he reflected on his battles, saying, “I was worried how far my rock bottom was going to be… I’m very good at hiding it. No one would ever have seen it.”

Despite claiming sobriety earlier this year, sources indicated that Payne had been grappling with significant drug addiction leading up to his death. He had previously undergone multiple stints in rehab and had expressed suicidal thoughts throughout his career.

Fans have gathered outside the hotel, leaving flowers and candles in memory of the singer. Payne’s former One Direction bandmates expressed their heartbreak over his passing, asking for privacy as they mourn their friend. The investigation into the circumstances of Payne’s death remains ongoing.

October 18, 2024, 7:34 am

A tweet from a woman about Liam Payne allegedly “jumping off his balcony” went viral shortly before the confirmation of the English singer’s death. Payne, who rose to fame as a member of One Direction, passed away on Wednesday after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer was 31 years old.

Woman Shares Information from Friend at the Hotel

The woman, using the handle “Sorry Charlie” on X (formerly Twitter), shared that a friend staying in the same hotel as Payne in Argentina had informed her of the incident. Her tweet quickly gained widespread attention as it was posted just before official news of Payne’s death started circulating online.

Although her post spread quickly, the woman did not confirm Payne’s death in her tweet. Instead, she clarified that she was merely passing along what her friend had told her and did not verify the information.

The Viral Tweet

In her post on X, the woman wrote, “Mutual friend is in Argentina at the same hotel as Liam Payne and she said he just jumped off his balcony????? There are ambulances everywhere and things are nuts. I sincerely hope he’s okay if this actually happened. Holy smokes dude!!!! [sic].”

Social media users pointed out that the tweet came an hour before TMZ officially reported Payne’s death.

Following the attention her tweet received, the woman shared screenshots of her conversation with her friend in Argentina, further detailing the situation.

However, she faced backlash from fans of Liam Payne, who felt her post was inappropriate and insensitive. In response to the criticism, she defended her actions, stating, “I don’t think it’s that insane of me to tweet about something crazy my friend told me. I didn’t think it was anything this big, I assumed it was a mistake or something and that he was okay!”

She continued, explaining her surprise at how far her tweet had spread: “I didn’t think it would leave my circle. I tweeted, left for an hour or so, and came back to the news of him passing away and the tweet had blown up. Apologies to those who feel I was insensitive, it wasn’t my intention!”

Despite the controversy, the tweet remains a significant part of the online conversation surrounding Liam Payne’s tragic death.

Liam Payne’s Tragic Death: TMZ Faces Outrage for Inhumane Release of Photos

October 17, 2024, 8:12 am

Liam Payne’s Fatal Fall in Argentina

Former One Direction star Liam Payne has tragically passed away after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the evening of October 16. The 31-year-old singer’s sudden death has left fans worldwide in shock. The incident was first reported by TMZ, sparking further controversy when the outlet posted disturbing images related to his death.

TMZ’s Controversial Coverage

TMZ initially published photos showing portions of Payne’s body on the hotel’s wooden deck, including identifiable tattoos on his left forearm and abdomen. “We’re not showing the whole body, but you can clearly see his tattoo — a clock on his left forearm, and a scorpion on his abdomen,” the outlet stated. Another image revealed a police tent over the singer’s body, adding to the sensational nature of the report.

This decision to publish such images quickly drew heavy criticism from fans and public figures. Singer Alessia Cara strongly condemned TMZ, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “You’re gross @TMZ.” BBC presenter Rylan Clark also expressed outrage, saying, “TMZ f***ing shame on you. Disgrace.”

Public Backlash Intensifies

Fans of Liam Payne were devastated not only by his untimely death but also by the insensitive nature of TMZ’s coverage. Many took to social media, expressing their disgust at the outlet’s decision to share photos of Payne’s body. One user wrote, “Do you ever consider the thoughts and feelings of people who might be affected by posting that?” Another called for accountability, saying, “Whoever even took the image should genuinely be locked up. This should be illegal.”

Despite the widespread backlash, TMZ eventually removed the photos and edited their article to read, “TMZ has seen a photo showing Liam’s body,” but by then, the damage had already been done.

A Repeat of Past Mistakes

TMZ’s controversial reporting style is not new. The outlet faced similar criticism in 2020 following its handling of the helicopter crash that killed NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. TMZ was the first to break the tragic news, reportedly before authorities had even informed Bryant’s family, leading to outrage from both officials and the public.

Payne’s Legacy and Heartbreaking Loss

Liam Payne leaves behind his son, Bear, whom he shares with former partner Cheryl Cole. The two welcomed Bear in March 2017. Reflecting on the tragedy, one fan posted, “He was a daddy. His little boy has lost a father, it’s a tragedy.” The overwhelming response on social media highlights the deep connection Payne had with his fans and the heartbreak caused by his sudden death.

Call for Ethical Reporting

The public outcry against TMZ’s actions has reignited discussions on the ethics of celebrity news reporting. Many are calling for stricter regulations to protect the dignity of victims and their families in the wake of such tragedies. As one fan aptly put it, “TMZ’s actions are exploitative and heartbreaking, laws need to protect victims’ dignity.”

In the wake of Payne’s passing, his fans continue to mourn and reflect on his life, while also demanding more responsible and respectful journalism from major media outlets.
