Flight 1665 Returns to Las Vegas After Smoke Seen from Engine | WATCH

June 26, 2025, 1:19 pm

An American Airlines plane was compelled to make an emergency landing a few minutes after departing Las Vegas on Wednesday morning after its crew reported smoke and sparks emanating from one of its engines.

Flight 1665, which was flown on an Airbus A321, departed from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and was headed to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) when the plane turned back as a result of what the airline termed a ‘mechanical issue’. The plane landed safely, and no one was injured.

“The plane taxied to the gate on its own power, and passengers debarked normally. We value our crew’s professionalism and thank our employees, who are working to bring our passengers to their destinations as rapidly as possible,” Fox News quoted the airline as stating.

The plane had 153 passengers and six crew members onboard when the incident occurred.

Although American Airlines insisted that there was ‘no evidence of fire in the engine’, several videos doing the rounds on social media seemed to indicate dark smoke billowing from the right engine of the plane along with sparks visible in midair.

Matthew Villasista, who was also observing the incident from the Las Vegas National Golf Club, explained, “We heard lots of booming sounds, like a boombox. It kind of brought us to a standstill to hear the sounds.”

Mark Jackson, another witness, had a similar description. “When we looked up and saw what was actually going on, I was astounded and really sad thinking about how afraid everybody on board must be,” he said to ABC News. “Those incredible pilots are flying under some severe stress. It just appeared like it was plummeting rapidly.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which identified the flight as an Airbus A321, confirmed the occurrence.

American Airlines Flight 1665 made its safe return to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas about 8:20 a.m. local time on Wednesday, June 25, after the crew reported an engine problem. The Airbus A321 was bound for Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The FAA will be investigating,” the agency stated, according to Fox News.

The airport where this happened, Harry Reid International Airport, used to be called McCarran International Airport.

No Terror Links in Tesla Blast, Soldier Struggled with PTSD: FBI Confirms

January 4, 2025, 6:45 am

A tragic incident unfolded on New Year’s Day when Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Green Beret and highly decorated US Special Forces member, died by suicide in a dramatic explosion involving a rented Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Authorities have revealed that Livelsberger, who was battling post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), filled the vehicle with fuel containers and fireworks, leading to a fiery blast.

Incident Overview

The explosion, which occurred in the valet area of the glass-fronted hotel, injured seven people nearby. Livelsberger’s body was found inside the Cybertruck, and his identity was confirmed through dental records and DNA testing due to the severe burns.

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill explained that preliminary findings suggest Livelsberger shot himself and triggered the explosion almost simultaneously. Investigators are still piecing together the exact timeline of events.

Mental Health and PTSD Struggles

FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans addressed the media, describing the situation as a “tragic case of suicide.” He stated, “Although this incident is more public and more sensational than usual, it ultimately appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated combat veteran who was struggling with PTSD and other issues.”

Livelsberger’s phone contained two letters where he expressed the emotional toll of taking lives during his military service. While deeply personal struggles appear to have been at the forefront, Evans noted that some family and personal issues may have also contributed to the tragedy.

No Terrorism Links Found

Despite the proximity of the explosion to the Trump-branded hotel, authorities emphasized that there was no political or terrorist motivation behind Livelsberger’s actions. “We have not identified any connection between this subject and any other terrorist organization,” Evans stated. Furthermore, the FBI confirmed that Livelsberger held no animosity toward Donald Trump or his business interests.

Comparison to Other Incidents

Investigators ruled out any connection between Livelsberger’s suicide and a separate New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans. That incident involved a US Army veteran linked to the Islamic State group, who drove a truck into a crowd, killing 14 people before being shot by police.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are continuing their investigation into Livelsberger’s electronic devices and other evidence to understand the full context of the tragedy. For now, it stands as a stark reminder of the mental health challenges many veterans face after serving in combat.

US Soldier Confirmed as Driver in Las Vegas Tesla Explosion

January 3, 2025, 7:42 am

A shocking incident unfolded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, where a Tesla Cybertruck explosion injured seven people. The driver of the vehicle, identified as active-duty US Army Green Beret Matthew Alan Livelsberger, reportedly shot himself in the head moments before the blast, according to reports.

Driver’s Background and Incident Details

Livelsberger, who was serving in Germany with the 10th Special Forces Group, was on leave at the time of the incident. Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed during a news conference that the driver had taken his own life before the explosion occurred. While McMahill and other officials referred to him as the “subject” or “person of interest,” they displayed Livelsberger’s photo and shared his name during the briefing.

Sheriff McMahill stated, “I will not come back until I have the confirmation through DNA or medical records that this is indeed, in fact, the subject inside of the vehicle.”

The US Army released a statement confirming that Livelsberger was on leave at the time of his death but did not explicitly connect his death to the Las Vegas explosion. Known as the “Green Berets,” the US Special Forces are an elite unit specializing in guerrilla warfare and unconventional tactics.

Investigation and Motivation

According to the LA Times, Livelsberger acted alone, and authorities are still investigating his motives. Officials have not found any immediate connection between this incident and other recent attacks.

Elon Musk’s Response to the Cybertruck’s Performance

Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the Cybertruck’s robust design, which mitigated the blast’s impact. Musk stated, “The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.”

Biden’s Statement on Investigation

US President Joe Biden also commented on the ongoing investigation, which is probing any possible links between the Las Vegas explosion and another attack in New Orleans. However, he clarified, “No evidence of such a connection has been found thus far.”

Current Status

The tragic incident has raised questions about Livelsberger’s motivations and the circumstances surrounding his actions. Authorities continue to investigate the explosion, aiming to uncover the reasons behind this shocking event.

Barack Obama Endorses Kamala Harris For President Says “Champion For Those In Need”

October 20, 2024, 1:24 pm

At a campaign event in Las Vegas, former US President Barack Obama officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency, praising her readiness and commitment to American values. Obama lauded Harris as a “champion for those in need,” emphasizing her qualifications and lifelong dedication to fighting for justice.

Speaking to a large crowd, Obama declared, “America is ready to turn the page. We are ready for President Kamala Harris. She is as prepared for the job as any nominee in history.” He further expressed confidence in Harris’ leadership, adding that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz would be an “outstanding partner” as vice president.

Encouraging early voting, Obama urged Americans to choose a new generation of leadership that would build a better, fairer, and more equal country. He acknowledged the challenges the nation has faced in recent years, including the pandemic and rising prices, which have strained families and businesses. Despite these difficulties, Obama stressed the importance of moving forward with Harris at the helm.

Turning to Harris’ opponent, Republican candidate Donald Trump, Obama delivered sharp criticism. He questioned why anyone would believe Trump could “shake things up” in a positive way, citing Trump’s history of self-interest. “There is absolutely no evidence that this man thinks about anybody but himself,” Obama remarked.

He continued his critique of Trump, labeling him as a constant complainer who is more focused on personal gain than on the well-being of Americans. Obama also mocked Trump for selling “Trump Bibles” made in China, calling out the hypocrisy in his tough-on-China stance.

Obama argued that Trump’s strategy relies on fostering division among Americans, pitting “real Americans” who support him against those who don’t. “Donald Trump wants you to think this country is hopelessly divided because it boosts his chances of being elected,” Obama warned.

Vice President Kamala Harris, if elected, would make history as the first woman, first Black, and first Asian American president. She faces former President Donald Trump, who is seeking a rare return to the White House after his defeat in 2020. The US presidential election is set for November 5.

Harris-Walz Energize Voters With Las Vegas Rally

August 11, 2024, 1:17 pm

Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz concluded their first week on the campaign trail together with a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, aiming to rally Democratic support and win over undecided voters in key battleground states like Nevada. The rally marked the fifth event in five days for Harris and Walz, reflecting a renewed wave of enthusiasm and engagement among voters and organizers following President Joe Biden’s decision to step down from the presidential race due to concerns over his cognitive health and support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Harris Promises Support for Service Workers

During the rally, Harris pledged to eliminate taxes on tips, aligning her stance with that of her rival, Donald Trump, in a bid to gain the support of service workers, a crucial voter base in Nevada. “It is my promise to everyone here that when I am president, we will continue to fight for working families, including raising the minimum wage and eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris declared.

Walz Clarifies Military Service Remarks

The Harris-Walz campaign faced scrutiny after a 2018 video of Walz discussing “weapons of war” resurfaced. In the video, Walz, a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard who never served in a combat zone, spoke out against gun violence, leading some, including Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance, to question his military record. Campaign spokesperson Lauren Hitt clarified that Walz “misspoke” and emphasized that he handled weapons of war during his service but never intended to mislead the public about his experience.

Record Turnout and Key Endorsements

Harris and Walz’s campaign tour through swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona has garnered significant support, including a record turnout of 15,000 attendees at a Glendale, Arizona rally. Additionally, they received endorsements from influential groups like the Culinary Union in Nevada and the historically neutral League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), signaling growing momentum for their campaign.

As the Harris-Walz ticket continues to gain traction, analysts at the Cook Political Report have shifted their outlook on key states, now categorizing Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia as “toss-ups” rather than leaning Republican. Harris’s focus on immigration, abortion rights, and tribal sovereignty during her speeches aims to secure the diverse coalition of voters that propelled Democrats to victory in 2020.

Las Vegas Sets A New Record Of Heat Wave

July 11, 2024, 1:14 pm

Las Vegas has set a new heat record with five consecutive days above 115°F (46°C), surpassing the previous mark set in 2005. The city hit an all-time high of 120°F (48.8°C) on Sunday, making this the most extreme heatwave since records began in 1937.

Residents are adjusting their routines to avoid the blistering daytime heat, with health officials warning of serious risks from prolonged exposure. Emergency cooling centers have been set up, especially for vulnerable groups like the homeless, while firefighters are using innovative “polar pods” to aid heat-stricken patients.

The heatwave isn’t limited to Las Vegas; cities across the western US, including Phoenix and Reno, have also seen record temperatures. California and Oregon are grappling with wildfires exacerbated by the dry conditions and high temperatures. In the east, places like Philadelphia and New Jersey are experiencing their own heatwave, with temperatures around 90°F (32°C).

Globally, June marked the 13th straight month of above-average temperatures, driven by human-induced climate change. The National Weather Service has extended heat warnings for the southwest US, underscoring the need for climate resilience amid escalating environmental challenges.

Usher Marries Longtime Girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea

February 13, 2024, 2:41 pm

Jennifer Goicoechea, longtime girlfriend of American musician Usher, married in Las Vegas on February 11, where the singer played at Super Bowl LVIII, according to People.
The couple exchanged vows at Vegas Weddings’ Terrace Gazebo, with Jonetta Patton, Usher’s mother, serving as witness, according to the marriage certificate.

“We can confirm that Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea took the next step in their relationship and did get married on Sunday night in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family,” a representative for the singer told People.
“They both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes.”

Following the big game, the couple headed out in Las Vegas, where Usher was photographed wearing a gold band around his left ring finger. Goicoechea donned an all-white pantsuit with an off-the-shoulder, tie-waist jacket and wide-leg slacks, while Usher wore a white floor-sweeping fur coat over his black tuxedo.
In an exclusive interview with People earlier this week, the Super Bowl 2024 halftime show performer discussed his friendship with Goicoechea.

“Listen, when you find someone that you know is a great partner, of course it is an honor and a pleasure to be able to share life with someone who wants to share it with you and loves you, who you are,” he said.
“We’ve obviously made a commitment to life for life together because of our children,” Usher continued. “It wouldn’t be odd for us to get married. We already did here. You know what I’m saying?”
“And we’re going to be in each other’s lives until we die, obviously, because we have something to share. That’s beautiful. Our children. But not because of that. I really do feel like I have an amazing partner that I respect.”

Usher also talked about how he had a deep connection with Goicoechea during a moment of personal development.

“I started this journey, I found and met an amazing partner who happened to be my best friend and was there all the time, and I was like, wow, this could be great,” he said of the start of their romance, which began after he took a soul-searching trip around the globe in 2018.

The couple had their first child, daughter Sovereign Bo, in 2020, and a son, Sire Castrello, in 2021. Usher also has two sons with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster: Usher V and Naviyd Ely.
Goicoechea and Usher sparked dating speculations after they were photographed together at producer Keith Thomas’ 40th birthday party in June 2019.
Prior to his appearance at Super Bowl LVIII, Usher stated that Goicoechea is always rooting for him. “I have an amazing partner, a support system,” he told People.
“We have an amazing dynamic between our relationship where I’m able to be passionate still about what I do and have an incredible partner to work through some of the harder times as a young man dealing with children.”

Usher continued to rave about the support and love from Goicoechea, saying, “I’m very happy, very fortunate to have an incredible friend, not just a partner. She’s my best friend and I love her.”

Goicoechea had been working in the music industry for years and had met Usher several times before their love relationship began.
In March 2016, she shared a selfie of herself whispering in his ear at an undisclosed event. A few years later, in March 2018, she posted a flashback photo of him with numerous male creatives, including producer Bryan-Michael Cox, with the caption “Boys Club.”

However, it wasn’t until they were seen at Thomas’ birthday celebration in Atlanta in June 2019 that suspicion about a relationship between the two began.
They were later seen kissing backstage at a Hollywood Bowl event in October 2019.
Melody Willis-Williams, president of Vegas Weddings, where the couple exchanged vows, extended her best wishes to the newlyweds in an exclusive message to People.

“Congratulations to the Newlyweds! What a great game and Usher’s performance was phenomenal! We were beyond thrilled to host in this epic day for Usher and his new wife. As much as we love, love, this is the couple’s news to share any further details on. We’ll always be fans of Usher! Yeah!”
